Le Jardin d'Avigneux: 23 Mai 1850, 13:30
Tumblr media
Madame Adelaide: And Ernest truly helped ton frère escort you home?
Tumblr media
Mademoiselle Violette: Oui, it was quite an affair! I was waiting for Oscar outside the post office and idly standing by when he rushed right into me! The tumble was quite severe, I was so unsteady on my feet and he helped Oscar assist me home. Truly, I am just as stunned as you are, though why he was rushing about the square I have no idea.
Tumblr media
Madame Adelaide: It appears I owe Ernest more credit than I currently afford him. He does always seem to surprise me.
Mademoiselle Maybelline: And are you well recovered? When I last came to call Oscar mentioned you were still terribly unwell.
Tumblr media
Mademoiselle Violette: I assure you I am quite well, though Oscar is still in quite a state. If it wasn't for la Douairière I wouldn't have been allowed out for our weekly stroll!
Tumblr media
Madame Maybelline: He's always been the...overprotective type. Mine would have left me on the sidewalk to rot.
Mademoiselle Violette: [Scoffs] Honestly, Maybelline...In all honestly I'm surprised he hasn't started breathing fire down the necks of every suitor who comes to call. Though I believe him too busy these days to notice.
Tumblr media
Mademoiselle Maybelline: And what news from you, Adelaide? I hear Gaston is looking more weary with each passing day as his impending nuptials loom closer...
Mademoiselle Violette: Is that true? And here I thought the big conversation would be about Eleanor turning down le Monseigneur's invitation to join him at le Prix de Thornolie.
Mademoiselle Maybelline: Quoi? Where did you hear that?
Mademoiselle Violette: La Douairière, of course.
Mademoiselle Maybelline: Goodness. Is this true?
Tumblr media
Mademoiselle Maybelline: Adelaide?
Mademoiselle Violette: Madame?
Tumblr media
Madame Adelaide: Quoi?
Mademoiselle Violette: Are you alright?
Tumblr media
Madame Adelaide: Oh...pardonnez-moi. I...I thought I saw...
Mademoiselle Violette: What did you see?
Madame Adelaide: I...It doesn't matter...
Mademoiselle Maybelline: Must you always keep us in sus-
Tumblr media
Madame Adelaide: Violette...do you think ton frère will still allow you to attend the Prix de Thornolie?
Mademoiselle Violette: Oh...I...Well, if he even tries to refuse, all I have to do is write to la Douairière.
Tumblr media
Madame Adelaide: And quite right, too.
Mademoiselle Violette: Are...are you sure you're alright?
Madame Adelaide: Of course, I am. Don't be ridiculous.
Mademoiselle Maybelline: Adelaide, you still have yet to answer my questions. Gaston certainly...

The Illusion of Loyalty
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
For more than three years, Cordelia's whereabouts have remained a mystery. On Christmas night in the year 1353, the royal family gathered at Windenburg Castle for an opulent feast befitting royalty. The dining hall glowed softly in the dim light as snowflakes danced outside, lending a cozy atmosphere to the occasion. King Edward, now approaching his sixteenth year, sat solemnly at the head of the table, his mind preoccupied with thoughts of his absent mother. Despite the festivities and merriment around him, the lingering absence of Queen Cordelia cast a somber shadow over the gathering.
Since 1350, numerous events have unfolded in rapid succession. In the autumn of 1352, the Kingdom of Bagley faced a formidable threat as the French launched an invasion in a bid to seize control of the land. Their massive army forced Bagley's royal family into exile, seeking refuge in Willowshire. Tragedy struck when Finchwick fell to the invaders, culminating in a devastating ambush on Bagley Castle that left it in ruins, the billowing smoke a grim testament to the chaos that ensued. As the summer of 1353 arrived, the once-proud Royal House of Bagley found itself teetering on the brink of collapse under the relentless onslaught of war.
Back at Willowshire Castle, the suffering persists. Priscilla, the Dowager Queen of Bagley and the last living descendant of the Tredonian Dynasty, a pure Tredonian lineage that has endured since the year 999, has grown gravely ill in recent weeks. She lay in her chambers, surrounded by family, being comforted by her daughter Corrine. Suddenly, she awoke from her slumber, looked to Corrine, and asked, "Wherefore art thou, Cordelia? Hast thou unearthed her whereabouts?" Corrine looked at her mother with sad eyes, softly shaking her head. The look of fear lingered in Priscilla's eyes as she responded, "My dear Corrine, as I lay here, feeling the weight of time pressing upon me, I must share with you a heavy burden that rests upon my heart. My soul trembles with the fear of the unknown. In these moments of uncertainty, I urge you to remember that even in darkness, there is strength to be found. Hold fast to hope, for it is a beacon that guides us through the darkest of nights. Trust in the resilience of our family, and believe that love will prevail, no matter the trials we face. Remember, my child, that courage is not the absence of fear, but the determination to persevere despite it. Let these words be a balm for your troubled spirit, and may they grant you the fortitude to weather this storm with grace and resilience."
Corrine provided assurance to Priscilla that their search for Cordelia would never cease, affirming the enduring legacy of the Bagley Dynasty. The next morning, Priscilla succumbed to her illness at the age of 66. Her grieving family gathered around her, draped in mourning attire, grappling with the unfathomable reality of her passing.
King Henry perceived the ominous signs accumulating around Bagley, the economy plummeting as the French ravaged markets and homes, spreading chaos through the once-prosperous kingdom. Amidst this turmoil, King Henry discerned an opportunity that could not be overlooked. Meeting with King Edward of Windenburg and his trusted Regent and Lord Protector, Lord Richard, King Henry orchestrated a pivotal meeting.
Gathered within the solemn halls of Windenburg Castle, Henry, Edward, and Richard engaged in negotiations fraught with tension and urgency. Aware of Bagley's dire state and the looming threat of the French invasion, Henry proposed a bold exchange. In a solemn pact, Henry relinquished the deed to Willowshire, a symbolic gesture of trust and alliance, in exchange for a substantial amount of gold from Windenburg that would provide them security for years to come.
The terms were meticulously crafted to ensure Bagley's survival amidst the ravages of war, the gold serving as a vital lifeline to protect the kingdom's interests and fortify its defenses. Edward, recognizing the gravity of the situation and the importance of solidarity among neighboring realms, graciously accepted the agreement. In an act of magnanimity, Edward extended hospitality to Henry and his kin, permitting them to remain within the walls of Willowshire Castle until the tumultuous war had run its course.
After the grandeur of the Christmas feast had faded and the halls of Windenburg Castle quieted down, King Edward retired to his chambers for the night. However, sleep eluded him, and a gnawing hunger stirred his stomach. With a sigh, he rose from his bed and made his way to the dimly lit dining hall, hoping to find a servant to attend to his late-night craving.
As he stepped into the corridor outside his chambers, his ears caught snippets of conversation coming from nearby. Against the stone wall, he listened intently as Lord Richard and Father Paul Leudemond engaged in a discussion that sent shivers down his spine.
"Intriguing," Paul remarked with a sly grin. "First, Bagley Castle succumbs to flames, a spectacle fit for legends." Lord Richard nodded in agreement, a knowing glint in his eyes.
"And then, the Dowager Queen Priscilla's demise. Quite a coincidence, wouldn't you say?" The tone grew somber as they delved into the recent events, with Paul adding, "A cruel twist indeed. But let us not overlook the grand finale. Willowshire slipping through their fingers into Windenburg's embrace. Oh, the tragedy of Bagley seems boundless." Despite the gravity of their words, Lord Richard couldn't help but chuckle with a hint of mockery. "Ah, but there's one more delightful twist to savor. Our elusive Cordelia, hidden away amidst the chaos. Yet, we know precisely where she lies."
Paul nodded in agreement, summing up their thoughts. Both men erupted into laughter at their manipulation of power, oblivious to King Edward's vigilant ears absorbing every word.
Consumed by fury, Edward felt the weight of betrayal heavy upon his shoulders as he refrained from confronting Lord Richard and Father Paul. His mind echoed with their mocking laughter, each chuckle a dagger in his trust. As he retreated to the sanctuary of his chambers, the flickering candlelight cast shadows of doubt upon his once unyielding faith in those around him.
Inside, the room seemed to shrink around him, suffocating him with the enormity of his anger. His clenched fists trembled, his jaw tight with restrained emotions. The silence was deafening, amplifying the bitter taste of realization that trust, once a cherished virtue, had become a fragile illusion in the treacherous landscape of a political game.

My Fair Lady: Late Baroque Era Set
Tumblr media
(no fancy thumbnail this time, sorry) ♫ < baroque music
Please READ ALL OF THIS before downloading. I will not answer an ask if it was answered here. Read.
This is a late 17th-century/early 18th-century Baroque Set. You will get 25 items for women, girls, and toddlers! Towards the bottom, I will give you tips to start a Baroque Era Save (people to find on gallery and men/boy attire).
I would like to thank @the-melancholy-maiden @linzlu @sychik @batsfromwesteros @vintagesimstress @cringeborg @acanthus-sims @stereo-91 and sims 2 creator maya40 for the stuff I've used to make all of this. I'm sure there are more creators but I cannot recall their names off the top of my head. DM me if you see a piece of your mesh here so I can give proper credit. I would also like to thank @belleophile for testing these items for me.
The stuff in this set can work for the late 1660s-early 1710s.
WHAT YOU GET: You will get 3 hat hairs, 1 for each age I listed above, 2 Fontanges for adults that work with the hat slider mod, 4 adult hairs, an adult baroque hair comb piece, 1 adult baroque sash accessory used for court and portraits, 1 ribbon hair piece to go with a hair, and 13 dresses (2 1670s/1660s mantuas, 1 1680s-1710s Habit used for Hunting or Riding, 1 1690s-1710s court dress used for court occasions, 1 1690s-1710s jeweled portrait dress and 1 1660s-1670s portrait dress with sash, and finally 7 1690s-1710s mantuas used for everyday, formal, and seasonal wear. I've included 1 dress for a child and 1 dress for a toddler as well).
SMALL NOTICE ABOUT THE PIECES: The hairline on the hairs will not behave correctly if you have head shape presets on the sim. I've tried fixing that but no luck. If I manage to fix it, I will update it. The Hat Hairs are found in the HAT category and are not compatible with hairs you MUST download the hair files that I'll be including with them. This being said, if you remove sim clothing while they have the hat hair on, it removes the hair override too. It's strange, but just put the hat back on and it should fix. The comb, and ribbon accessory are also found in the hat category. The Sash is found in the GLASSES category. The 1660s-1670s Mantuas are not compatible with shoes, leggings, or socks. I've removed these options in CAS tools so you shouldn't have to worry about clipping. The Barbara 1670s Dress has a sash meshed onto it, and because of this does not behave well with bigger bodies. The same applies to the Henrietta 1670s Dress, as the pearls don't behave with bigger bodies. Same with the Sarah 1670s Dress jewels. The 1690s-1710s Mantuas will have small gaps if the sim is plus-sized. I have tried to fix these issues, but no luck. The hat hair fontange looks a bit gray without reshade or a lighting mod. @northernsiberiawinds has some good lighting mods. Other than that, it's fine. Below, is how it will look white with a lighting mod.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Everything has AT LEAST 20 swatches. Some things have more. There are only a few things that don't have this many swatches.
Here are some pics up close of what you are getting.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Here are some pics/fashion plates from this era.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Did I forget the 1680s mantua..? Oh no! Luckily, I've included this surprise 1680s dress you'll be getting as well for reading all of that. So 26 items! (here you can see hat hair fontange without lighting mods installed)
Tumblr media
BAROQUE SAVE TIPS: These dresses will work for winter, summer, and traveling wear. Just add a fichu for summer wear or a shawl. For winter wear just add some long gloves and a cape. For men's stuff from this era, @stereo-91 has recolored some acanthus outfits which can be found here. I'll show you how they look below. I also recommend going to his gallery (ROTAMETERS91) as he has AMAZING builds for this era. For a little boy, @acanthus-sims has some stuff that can work.

Lupine Cottage
A CC Free Victorian Beachside Cottage
Lot size: 20x20 Price: §40,013 Lot type: Residential Location: Bedlington Beachhouse, Brindleton Bay
This build will be familiar to all of you who have downloaded Antiquated Brindleton, where it's previously been released as a cc-lite build. This build is really no fun to play without Romantic Garden, so in honor of it being free to download I wanted to release a cc-free version of it. It also gave me the chance to refresh it with some of the new assets we've gotten since then, and it's turned out so well.
This lot is potentially my favorite build I've ever done and I'm so in love with how it's turned out here. Even if you have the previous one, I'd certainly give this version a try, because humbly; I think it's better.
Background info and download under the cut:
I'm not sure how many of you will recognize this lot, or have already, but it's based off the cottage from the children's book Miss Rumphius, which tells the tale of the lupine lady who spreads lupine seeds along Maine's roadways in the early twentieth century. You can see the inspo pics below as well as a shot of lupines in Maine in the spring, where they really do look like someone rode around just throwing seeds as they went. I highly recommend the book for any history lovers the illustrations are beautiful.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lupine's are unfortunately not native to Maine and are considered invasive, so loving them does come with a smidgen of guilt, but luckily we don't have that problem in Sims.
I picture this cottage as the perfect home for your loner, spinster characters, and that's exactly who lives there in my save. This lot is in some ways a love letter to Maine and Brindleton Bay as I see it. So please enjoy.
This build is appropriately furnished for the late nineteenth to early twentieth century; no indoor plumbing and lots of candles. It's really only suitable for one sim as built, but could probably be edited quite easily for a couple. Fully playtested.
Please, please, please tag me if you use this lot, it's got a special place in my heart.

Alexandrea Cole Morales: 1940s Lookbook
A later 1940s lookbook for Alexandrea Cole Morales in her mid-adulthood years. By the end of the decade, Alexandrea has achieved some success as a Hollywood actress. In contrast to the wartime years, Alexandrea now wears fuller skirts and longer dresses, especially for formal events. (I haven't been able to feature all of Alexandrea's many looks in-game yet but hopefully will showcase them more as the decade nears a close!)

The 1910's are my favorite decade and I would be remiss to let them pass by without dressing my heir up even if she's still a teenager!
Olivia comes from a lower middle class family - there aren't going to be any rich, vibrant, expensive colors to her wardrobe, but her interest in sewing means that she at least stays on top of the latest silhouettes and trends. She is very proud to be the most talented seamstress in her family, and hopes very much to work with better and more beautiful materials and colors one day.
Her daily outfits are always supplemented with knitwear from her mother or aunt - around the 1900's and 1910's knitwear began to gain mainstream popularity anyways - and she always wears her same trusty hat. The only parties in her neck of rural Brindleton are when the Xue's (family friends of the Rheist-Calaises) throw their annual summer garden parties, so her party outfit is summery and light and meant for socializing in a familiar, informal setting. Her hair is almost never formally, appropriately done up - she lives in the country, by the windy sea, and is her free-spirited mother's daughter.
CC links under the cut! If I didn't link it, it's base game.
Daily - hat / hair / skirt / shoes
Daily (warm) - hat / hair / skirt
Funeral - hair / dress / shoes
Sleepwear - nightgown / hair
Underwear - underwear & socks / hair
Party - hat / hair / dress / shoes
Swimming - hair / outfit
Summer - hat / hair / dress / shoes
Winter - hat / hair / dress / cardigan
Winter Alt - hat / hair / dress / shoes

Palacio Conde de la Maza
Tumblr media Tumblr media
These days I accidentally found images of this beautiful house that existed in Madrid and belonged to Leopoldo Sáinz de la Maza y Gutiérrez-Solana y Gómez de la Puente, first Count of la Maza. It was built in 1908 by architects Antonio Palacios and Julián Otamendi. It was located at the top of a slope that had not been modified by the architects, who thus achieved a great perspective.
The house was located at Paseo de la Castellana, 50. Currently, in its place, stands the old Banca Catalana building, today called Edifício Castelar, built in 1987.

One of the things I really like about the Homestead Challenge is the rules about how the homesteads/architecture of each lot should be made of the same materials and look similar to each other. Partly because it makes sense--you ain't getting regular shipments of intricately-etched Victorian marble cornices to Kainai, Montana--and partly because one of the things that often keeps me from expanding my hoods is building fatigue. I have to be in the right mood to build and while I've certainly impressed myself before, I also have way less free time than I used to and it's nice to be able to overthink less.
Plus, I've inadvertently created an architectural style in Kainai that revolves entirely around that Swiss Winter siding by Lady Lama and I regret nothing.

Château de Clèrisseau: 23 Mai 1850, 14:15
Tumblr media
Marquis de Clèrisseau: I'll be back in time to change for dinner, Auclair. I'll need to be if not to receive another lecture from-Roquefort?
Vicomte de Vignieu: Bonne journée, Valery.
Marquis de Clèrisseau: Bonne journée....that'll be all, Auclair.
Valet: Monsieur. [Leaves]
Tumblr media
Marquis de Clèrisseau: Well this is certainly a surprise. What possibly brings you by? Surely it's too early to call on-
Vicomte de Vignieu: Oh, non...I actually came to speak with le Duc.
Tumblr media
Marquis de Clèrisseau: [Sighs Dramatically] I suppose it was inevitable...
Vicomte de Vignieu: Pardon?
Marquis de Clèrisseau: Hmm? Oh, nothing. Just off in my own thoughts I suppose....lots to do, people to see...I'm sure you of all people can understand.
Tumblr media
Vicomte de Vignieu: Has anyone bothered to mention how tiresome you can be?
Marquis de Clèrisseau: Perhaps...though I suppose hearing it once more from you couldn't hurt.
Vicomte de Vignieu: [Scoffs] I do not have time to verbally spar with you this afternoon, Valery. I was told le Duc would be in this afternoon?
Tumblr media
Marquis de Clèrisseau: You were misinformed.
Vicomte de Vignieu: I sincerely doubt that.
Marquis de Clèrisseau: And just what, might I ask, has you so insistent to see him at this hour? He is a very busy man, after all.
Vicomte de Vignieu: If you must know, I've called on him to ask for Eleanor's hand.
Tumblr media
Marquis de Clèrisseau: ...
Vicomte de Vignieu: I don't think I've ever seen you without words, Ernest. Cat got your tongue, perhaps?
Marquis de Clèrisseau: Have you truly thought this through, Albert?
Vicomte de Vignieu: I don't know what you're insin-
Tumblr media
Marquis de Clèrisseau: Don't lie to me, Roquefort. It's clear as day to anyone with eyes. My sister is not a pawn for your jealous squabbles with-
Vicomte de Vignieu: I never said she was-
Marquis de Clèrisseau: And yet you stand here waiting to ask for her hand.
Tumblr media
Vicomte de Vignieu: I do not need to explain myself to you.
Marquis de Clèrisseau: Non....because the answer is obvious. You need to-
Duc de Clèrisseau: Ah, Vicomte.
Tumblr media
Duc de Clèrisseau: I do hope not to have kept you waiting.
Vicomte de Vignieu: Of course not, Monsieur. Bonne journée. Your delay allowed me the opportunity to catch up with Ernest, here. It has been quite a while since we've had the chance to connect.
Duc de Clèrisseau: Ah, oui, oui. All of you used to be so close back in the day...but I suppose I have kept you waiting long enough. Shall we?

Now I say it's 1820s as the silhouette aligns more with the silhouette of the years 1820-1822 but in reality, this could work from about 1817-1823
Pics of dresses from my Pinterest board from 1817-1823 : )

Kremastes Kourtines - Three Curtains recolor
Sometimes we need privacy, sometimes we need a little privacy and sometimes we just need something to keep the light away.
Even back in ancient times humans (and sims) started to use woven cloth to protect themselves from heat, cold or strong light and divide the living space for more privacy. It was more common among the wealthy than others, and it for sure would beautify their surroundings. This set has three different curtains in many swatches from my Efrosyni and Knossos palettes. You will find them in game where you normally find curtains, or by searching for Kremastes or KyriaT.
