Genius and insanity are closely related, was it?

Well, I think that’s a good thing actually because if Kaitou KID wasn’t at least a slight bit insane, I doubt Film 23 would have worked out. Like, at all.

Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love Kaito and Shinichi but if they weren’t a little bit lunatic, if they weren’t a tad feral, I doubt they would work together so well.

It’s not just their genius but also their willingness to be a bit unhinged in just the right moments.

They never actually lose their self-control, so I think describing them as daredevil and slightly lunatic is warranted.

The (literal) stunts both Conan and Kaitou KID pull off need at least a gross disregard for their own safety – Kaito is skilled, absolutely, the things he planned out are not what I’m referring to.

I love their easy confidence, their awareness that they can handle themselves – it’s not arrogance if it’s founded on the skill to back it up.

But when push comes to shove, when it’s getting dicey, when they are in a tight spot not even they could predict… that’s when their true genius shows in both of them! Together with that smidge of lunacy.

(A’ight, I’ll stop simping and return to writing self-ship about them now)

From all the heists Kaito had done, this one felt, for once and on a personal level, as a gravelly mistake. Even when it happened on sheer coincidence, a mishap to the actual heist.

Afterwards back at home, when the aftermath had settled in him. Crashed like a wave above him. Kaito had called Kudo, who had told him—without giving comforting words at all, just how utterly dumb he was. And Kudo was right.

Every Human once born, has been gifted with a tiny glass-heart—formed from the first tears being shed. Once a person had found their destined Soulmate, the heart will turn into the colour of their eyes.

Though there was just one problem about it. When, at any case, the Heart would be going missing or even being shattered. The Person, who belongs it, will either feel eternal loneliness or in the worst case, would die.

And what did Kaito? Accidentally stole his soulmate heart. He truly was a dumbass. Kaito turned the glass piece around his fingers, examining it. No colour, to be expected since the heart wasn't with her owner.

As Kaito Kid he couldn't return the heart, but as Kaito Kuroba he could. Sounds like a plan.

Kaito watched you a bit from afar from where he sat at the Café. He has saw you before, in school. You were either one year under or in another class than him. Kaito doesn't knows much about you, only that you were acquainted with Hakuba and Aoko.

Kaito was a bit hesitant to approach you, still not having a proper lie of how and why he had your Heart at all. Somehow it would work.

You looked up at the boy in front of you. Aah, that boy, from your school. A friend of Aoko. He smiled at you, a bit too tightly. Seems a bit nervous.

„Can I take a seat?“ he asked and you nodded, once seated he fiddled with his hands. Oh boy.

You didn't seem that sad nor do you have that ashly paleness. Though it was only two days since he had your Glass-Heart, so the effects aren't beginning yet.'

Kaito found Aoko pretty, but you? You were breathtaking. How your hair shimmers in the sun and your (e/c) eyes seemed to pull him in.

„Here, found it somewhere and then I heard from Aoko that this could be your heart, so,“

Kaito gently pulled the heart out and give it you. Once you had it back, the glass turned into a blue colour. You looked Kaito in the eyes and Kaito swore he never saw smiling so brightly.

„Thank you! Thank you so much!“

You stretched out your hand,

„Hi, I'm [Name], do you want to eat some Cake with me?“

Kaito smiled, more relaxed. At first he hadn't planned to steal your heart, but now? Now he wanted to capture it. Your real heart.
