book ask game <3. 23, 24, 25, & 38!

I am so excited you asked! Although this is super hard because while the vasy majority of what I read is romance, I read quickly and constantly so there's thousands of books and hundreds of authors to for me to think through from the past couple years alone. I'll give you my best shot though.

23. A book currently on my TBR.

Brynne Asher's Dillon Sisters series. I loved both the Carpino and the Killers series'

24. A book on my nightstand.

I get all of my reading done on Kindle and the Kindle app so I'm just going to assume this is asking what I'm reading. I've finally gotten around to reading Neon Gods by Katee Robert.

It was on my TBR for SO long because of BookTok! I'm only half way through it but so far it's much better than I thought it'd be (honestly I expected it to have been overhyped but it really wasnt)

25. A book by your favorite author

This is like asking about a favorite kid! My favorite author changes by the week and my favorite book changes by the minute. It just kind of depends on what i like during any given conversation. For slow burns that focus more on the character development and story, Marianna Zapata is amazing (Wall of Winnipeg and Me), Bella Di Corte is amazing for mafia type things (Machiavellian) Penny Reid (Dating-ish) is amazing for romcoms, but so is Amy Daws (Blindsided), and Lucy Score (Riley Thorn and the Dead Guy Next Door) .

38. Your favorite series

I had to think about this a lot. Because it changes at any given time depending on what subgenres I'm obsessing about at the time. But the two I keep coming to is The Demigods of San Francisco by KF Breene and Maggie M Lily's Building the Circle series.

I'm remiss in forgetting to mention @pixie-unger, a fellow "I started posting on Tumblr and moved to publication" author.

Honestly, it's a little disheartening to think that so many people are under the impression that Monster Romance does not exist off this platform.

Ruby Dixon (arguably the biggest voice and alien romance) sat at the top of the Amazon charts with a nearly decade old book and filled the top 20 with other books from her series to the point where she was given a mass market distribution deal. My own book peaked at number 11 on the Amazon bestseller list this past August. Every single day there are new monster and alien romance books coming out. My FYP and Instagram feed and TBR are STACKED with brand new MR books coming out and oldies but goodies that I've missed.

I have a patreon and discord server and Facebook group where my readers gather, I know @pixie-unger has a patreon as well. So does Tiffany Roberts and my friend Katee Robert, who has a monster romance book coming out this spring. Opal Fairchild, Clio Evans, Bebe Harper, Trish Heinrich, KF Breene, KC Cross, SJ Sanders, Evangeline Priest, etc etc etc

Support authors in the real world, not just in the places you can read them for free, I'm begging you.

OK so I started a new series, 1st book is called "Sin & Chocolate" by KF Breene

Magical society has been known for 100 years now, with people who have or are magic living in magical zones, and non-magical living in their own respective zones. There are mixed zones as well.

MC is magical, but she lives in non-magic zone working her ass off at a dead-emd low paying job because non-magic people hate magic people. She does this because she has two teenage wards she's adopted and 1 kid is non-magical and the other kid is a shape-shifting with a deadly illness who has fallen through the cracks of both societies as no one wants to claim him or take care of him, except MC.

She fucking loves those kids with every molecule of her being even if they drive her crazy.

One day she's almost hit by some rich asshole who is a very powerful magical being. He sees her magic and is fascinated by her (even though he's an asshole who scared her shitless with his power and stalked her through a non-magic mall).

So far I really like the characters & I want to see how this story pans out 👍

Speaking of romance, and finding myself with a lot of spare reading time, could you reccing three romance authors to go check out? If it helps, My preferences are regency or supernatural romances, of all sexualities. Thank you, hope you’re recovering from your headache :) (if you don’t have the spoons no worries!)

Regency is easy, that’s Catherine Bilson aka @caitlynlynch (Amazon Link) (Her contemporary works are also worth checking out.)

Not quite regency, but Alyssa Cole’s historical romances are also *chef kiss* (Amazon Link)

KJ Charles also does awesome M/M historical romances. And they currently have Magpie Lord up for free for people to enjoy during social isolation (Amazon Link)

Gail Carriger  (@gailcarriger) is Steampunk Victorian rather than Regency, but her vampires and werewolves are some of my faves, and “How To Marry A Werewolf” is probably one of my top pics from her work so far. (Amazon Link) Gail also has lots of work that is LGBTQ+ orientated.  

Everyone and their dog has been reccing KF Breene to me (Amazon Link), but I’ve yet to get through any of their work, though it’s on my kindle. I have high hopes though. Magical Midlife Madness has strong How’s Moving Castle vibes from what I’ve gleamed thus far.

I did have a f/f werewolf romance somewhere but I can’t for the life of me find it right now to look up the author so if I find it I will post.

There is, of course, my own work currently still available in the best selling Weird and Wonderful Holiday Romance Anthology available for $4.99 or free with Kindle Unlimited. The Editor by Siobhan Kearney is also a paranormal romance about an editor who falls in love with a vampire, and it’s honestly just… listen, it speaks to my soul on so many levels, but mostly as an editor haha. There was another paranormal romance in there somewhere… *frantically flipping*  Dane’s Redemption by Susannah Kade. But y’know, the whole anthology is good, if I say so myself, and at $4.99 it’s an absolute steal for the amount of content you get.
