16. Who stays up way too late and who tries to drag them to bed?
Ah well you see, I don't really see either role being primarily assigned to one - but it does depend on where they are in the relationship 🙂
During the early stages of the relationship, and after Mia permanently moves in, the couple like to go to bed around the same time; but Pio will stay up just a little longer just to hold Mia close and continue to process the fact that she's really here. With him. She's his love, and he is hers, and they are together 💖
After they discover the other world, Mia becomes transfixed on one day seeing it again, and stays up late to stare out of their attic room window for hours on end, in the hopes that she will see it again. And when she discovers that she is pregnant, Mia becomes determined to stay up to show her babies the world that their mummy and daddy discovered 💕 In both of these scenarios, Pio either sits with her until she falls asleep on his shoulder, or gently coaxes her by lifting and carrying her to bed bridal style 🥰🤭

But... I may post some stuff you dislike. So, as a warning, don't think too highly of me. Just view me as a guy who posts some stuff you like and some you don't. I criticize the fandom's views on Saiyan characters often since most don't understand them. That might get annoying.
As for the art I'll be posting, that may not be your cup of tea either. But its done to reveal the hypocrisy of the fandom. Ppl expect me to be peaceful, but you can't always be peaceful towards aggressive & disrespectful people. So I counter their energy with logic the best I can.
And if you dislike or disagree with anything I do or say, I'm open to the conversation if I have time. (Cause sometimes I'm super slow at replying to folks.)

Funny you say you found my stories on AO3 before discovering me having a Tumblr account because I had an AO3 account before a Tumblr one. 😆 I created a Tumblr account after reading some fics from @drones-of-innocence because they said there was some accompanying artwork with those fics. Also, I learned that the art was from @elitadream, so that's how I came across their account and all but fell in love with their art.
Interesting that you mention Monster as your favorite up to that point. That story is way different than the ones I usually write because I don't write a lot of angsty and/or dramatic stuff. However, that one was a monster of an idea (OK, I'll see myself out...) that was trapped in my mind for a few days, and I would've gone insane if I didn't write it out. Also, this is the first time I've seen someone mention that story as one of their favorite because it tends to get overlooked.
Oops, I rambled too much. 😂 Thank you for the kind words about my writing, and I hope I can continue to create something that is enjoyable to others. I hope 2024 treats you well also, and I look forward to see what you have to share as well! 😊

Okay I have a question for the MerMario AU: would Luigi know about Mario's plan to see the sea witch? Would he go with him to try to stop him? (Kinda like how Flounder and Sebastian followed Ariel) or would he support his decision despite his own misgivings about the whole thing? I have so many questions gah! I really don't know where to start! LOL 😂 I want to learn everything about this AU! I guess this ask is as good a question as any and I am curious what Luigi's presence there would mean for Kammy's plan or if it would just play out the same as in The Little Mermaid.

Well the thing is, Luigi doesn't know Mario is going to meet Kammy - but it all happens by accident.
Mario is pretty down after his fight with Pio (especially after the latter said that he had been dragging Luigi into this 'obsession' long enough), and late that night he goes a little ways out to think things through. How can he stop Bowser from harming Peach and her kingdom? How can anyone not care that Bowser is about to wreak destruction to the surface?!
And then Kammy comes out of the shadows. Mario knows who she is - Kammy was a former resident of Atlantica, after Bowser's first downfall and banishment to the Great Depths. However, Kammy was soon kicked out of Atlantica for clearly showing her allegiance to Bowser, as well as her use of dark magic (which is outlawed in the kingdom).
Knowing this, Mario is more than aware that he shouldn't trust her.
"You are desperate to help them?", she asks. "I can help with that."
There's a lot more to it, and she and Mario both know it. Mario isn't a fool, but he is desperate. He wants to help Peach, as well as the surface and the ocean, but doesn't dare want to get his family involved - let alone allow them to know what he plans to do.
So he follows Kammy to her lair.
Meanwhile Luigi, who has been asleep back in their room, suddenly wakes up with a start, and clutches his moon necklace. Part of the bros' mer-magic is that they can sense where the other is through their bond. It's an unshakable link that has existed since they were born. And Luigi knows Mario is in trouble, and quickly swims as fast as he can towards his brother, desperate to save him before anything terrible happens!
Meanwhile, the scene with Mario and Kammy plays similar to The Little Mermaid, except Mario has to give up his mer magic rather than his voice, which is transferred into his sun necklace and kept by Kammy.
As soon as the spell is done, Mario is overcome by an incredible pain. His lungs suddenly start letting in water rather than air. His tail is split into a pair of legs. It's agonising - and Kammy is doing nothing to help him.
Abd then, just as Mario is about to feel like he's going to suffocate, a flash of green pushes Kammy aside, grabs Mario, and holds him close, as they swim as fast as they can to the surface.
The air is fresh and wonderful on Mario's body. He coughs and gasps as he takes in a lungful of air, and then collapses in exhaustion as Luigi carefully guides them to shore...

And that's that ^^ What follows of course is a similar scene like in the movie, where Mario wakes up on the beach and discovers his legs. The only difference is that he and Luigi have a long overdue talk 😒.
Long story short, Luigi states he's going to help Mario from afar - he's not going anywhere when his big bro needs him!

What event triggered Pio to dislike everything or the people about the surface? Does Mia share his opinion, or has she tried to make him see a different point of view? How does she take the bros. Interest and curiosity about the surface? Of course, I've gotta get my Mia and Pio food in this AU 🤤
Oh hooo hohoho 🤭 Time for some backstory drama!
lore dump galore!
Mia was originally a human, until one fateful day she spotted Pio trapped in a fisherman's net! She quickly freed him, but Pio was more scared of her because of the shaky history between the surface and the ocean kingdoms.
More than a century prior, humans and mer-people actually got along, and some chose to marry and bear children together. However, over time, some surface dwellers started to show fear towards the mer-people, for they are far more powerful than humans, with a wide array of magic at their disposal. This fear spread whispers that the mer-people may one day use this power to overthrow them!
Things got so tense that it led to the diplomatic laws of the surface and the ocean deciding that the kingdoms were better off apart. And so from then on, the surface and the ocean worlds rarely interacted with each other. But relations were always tense...
Back to current day, and Mia has heard tales of the ocean, and becomes fascinated by its beauty and mystery. Her mundane life is not fulfilling in the slightest, and she finds that she has very little personal connections on the surface.
Which is why she never expected to find a merman caught in a net on that day!
After Pio was rescued, he started to think more about the woman who saved him. No human, not since his family can remember, had ever been so benevolent towards anyone of his kind. He couldn't just not thank her! So he plucked up the courage to go to the surface and talk to her.
Mia was surprised to see him, but she too had been thinking about him. She had heard tales herself on how mer-people drag humans to the depths if you get too close! But this merman was sweet, scared even. He needed help, and she gave it.
The two had a talk and both found themselves enjoying each other's company. Pio revealed to Mia that he was the heir to the throne of Atlantica. The current ruler being his own father. He admitted to feeling a lot of pressure on him, so it was nice to talk to someone about it.
Over some days the two became more and more pining towards each other. Pio desperately wanted to go on the surface and hang out by Mia's side for longer; not just at the beach. That is when he remembered an ancient spell his ancestors used all those years ago; one that could give a mer-person legs so they could walk amongst humans!
Pio had always been told that his power was stronger than his brothers - nevertheless, after some tries in secret, he finally mastered the ancient magic by himself.
Mia was more than surprised to see him emerging from the water not as a merman, but like herself, and the too were even more happy. Finally they could hang out together for longer! 🥰
Of course, through the excitement of being on land, to being by Mia's side much more often - Pio started feeling desires more than ever for her, and the two eventually took their relationship much further...
I won't go into too much detail - as it's not important enough to go over here - but let's just say Pio was especially nervous on account of this being a much different experience than what his kind are used to, and Mia was so sweet and taught him some things 🤭.
After subsequent visits and intimate sessions, the two fell more in love, and eventually Mia became pregnant. Naturally this was a stir in of itself - the offspring to the heir of Atlantica born from a human was enough to cause a frenzy in the kingdom - but there was also no telling if the children would come out as human, or mer-people, or even both!
Knowing it was too dangerous to reveal her pregnancy to anyone in her village for multiple reasons, Mia gave birth in a secluded cove with Pio beside her, and with Marie (Arthur's partner) acting as a mid wife with her healing magic.
Too Mia's sheer relief - the twins were both born with tails: meaning that not only could they stay together, but it also meant that their mer-magic was stronger and could protect them.
But naturally, the babies could not live on the surface, and it was too risky to use the sacred magic on beings so young to keep turning them human. Shortly after their birth, Pio took the babies back to Atlantica for them to grow up safe and healthy, and promised Mia he would bring them to see her every day.
But only after a short amount of time this proved to be an emotional strain on Mia. Not only was Pio having to take over the throne because of his aging father, but he was giving up that precious amount of time ruling to bring the babies to see her (even though he was more than happy to). And the worst part, was that Mia was barely seeing her children, despite the time they tried to make as a family. It got too much, and unwilling to stay trapped anymore on the surface, she asked Pio one day
"Let me become a mermaid. Please."
Pio was shocked. He wasn't willing to make Mia give up her life just for him - to have her make a choice that could never be undone.
"I don't have a life here Pio. I never have. I miss our kids. And I miss you."
So Pio agrees, and Mia takes a magic potion to permanently turn her into a mermaid, and the whole of Atlantica rejoiced!
Unfortunately, word got around the surface, and soon those from Mia's village heard about what had happened, and became enraged and frightened. They stormed the beaches, fury in their eyes as they accused the mer-people (and especially Pio) of manipulating Mia with their magic in order to make her leave them forever.
Pio was naturally outraged, and while Mia tried to calm things down, it was all for nought. Mia was also driven away by the very surface dwellers who she had lived amongst, unable to accept her choice.
Like Pio, she was hurt. And from then on, the King and Queen of Atlantica vowed that they would not let their children anywhere near the surface, for fear that this very thing would happen to them.
And also from that moment on, the relations between the surface and the ocean worlds were cut off for good...

There's a lot more to this backstory that I had to cut out for the sake of not making this post too long! But if anyone is interested, you are welcome to shoot me an ask ^^
Oh and in regards to whether Mia shares the same feelings as Pio about their sons being interested in the surface? Well...a part of her wants to share it will them, she even tells them stories when they are little of the things that she experienced before she met Pio - so the bros do grow up knowing their mother was human. However, she also tells them that the surface dwellers drove a wedge between their worlds, and she makes clear to her babies that she won't want them to experience what she went through..
Buuut, it does make the times when the boys find something from ship wrecks etc, and Mia to explain what they are, all the more special; it gives them something to bond over 💗
She fears more for their safety than anything. She just can't bear the idea of them hurt either physically or verbally.

Oh yaaay, I finally get to ask one of these (after seeing that Peach ask, of course) what would be all the Mario's reactions to his brash action on the moon in Odyssey. Feel free to include/exclude 93 mario
Ok something for everyone to keep in mind with this: Mario in Odyssey is not a jerk. @pianokantzart went into more depth about this here. But just wanted to clear it up before we dive into this.
1993 Mario: Smacks Game Mario upside the head because he disrespected his woman!
Paper Mario: Shakes his head in disapproval.
Supershow Mario: Tells him he is as hard headed as undercooked pasta.
Movie Mario: Actually in awe that he made a move like that. But he still disapproves. Any potential partner must be respected before you swing in! He and his Peach have only got to know each other but maybe.....He then reminds himself that he can't even bring himself to flirt with her, so he has no chance with her!
Game Mario has to just sit there and take it - stewing in the shame and embarrassment he still feels from it!

I have finally done it....watched wolf children and of course like no one ever does when they recommend me something to watch didn't tell me how much I'd emotionally feel...Thank you for that lmao 🤣🤣🤣 but no for real I loved it and I'm about to dig into the Manga to feel that again right away and see if there's anything extra cause of course it probably does.
Anyway I'll probably have to watch it again to think of more but for your Wolf Children AU.... I guess
What makes Luigi fully embrace the Wolf part of himself compared to Mario (not so much rejecting) who wants to live more human save for a select few he allows to see that side of himself?
What are some things that Mia and Pio's family do to honor and share Pio's memory with the bros. Since they were so young at the time of his death and have no recollection of who he was as a person?

To answer your questions:
Mario is much more of a social and outgoing person, so I have no doubt that he would be more drawn to the human world because there's more fun to be had there. Luigi on the other hand is more shy and awkward. I think he would choose the wolf side because there's less chance of him being hurt emotionally and/or physically by the humans. The wild offers more seclusion and thrills of their own. Both experience and later try to show each other that their choice is the better one, but ultimately they have to accept that while they were born together as one, they are their own individuals and will separate, but they are still brothers ❤️💚 Being half human the children display much more human social interactions.
Mia and the family share stories to the bros about their father. They have his driving license (just like in the movie) and Mia tells them as early as possible why they can change into wolves, and their daddy was a truly unique person who gave them that gift 💖 The family are secluded in the mountains and only go into the village below for supplies, food, and work.

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY PIO!"
Cheers erupted around the family table as Pio laughed and blew out his candles.
"Thank you, everyone."
"One year older, bro!", Tony smirked as he nudged his older brother. "We need to check if you're getting grey hairs yet."
Pio huffed.
"At least my mustache is already full, unlike yours!"
"Alright boys settle down!, said Pa. "Let's have Pio cut the cake. And please give your old man the second biggest slice!"
"Tony will just have the icing", Arthur laughed. His new girlfriend, Marie, giggled and leaned into his side.
"Oh Pio!", said Mia, as Pio was just serving up the last slice. "Could you come with me a moment? I have an extra surprise for you."
She lightly winked at Arthur, Marie, and Tony. They winked back, knowing exactly what she meant.
Pio blinked.
"Err sure", said Pio, getting up and taking his slice of cake with him.
He followed her to the spare bedroom. Once they were in, she closed the door, and hugged him lovingly, kissing him on the lips.
"Happy Birthday!"
"Thank you, amore", he smiled. "But, what is this all about?"
"You'll see", she grinned. "I just need to get it. But first, you know how it's been over a year since we got together?"
"Of course!", said Pio. And then he frowned. "But we already celebrated that."
"Yes I know, and it was wonderful. And I wanted to do something as well for it, but I couldn't think of what to do at the time. But now I have the perfect thing! And -"
She paused and wagged a finger at him.
"Since this is also your birthday present, you can't say I didn't need to do anything. This is two presents in one!"
Pio knew he couldn't argue with her.
"Alright", he chuckled. "What did you have in mind?"
"Turn around and close your eyes!"
He did as she asked, still a little confused.
"I'll be right back!", Mia said.
After a few moments he heard the door open and close, then a little while later he heard it open again.
"Alright", said Mia. "You can open your eyes now."
He turned around, and then nearly dropped his cake.
Mia was now clothed in a full lingerie corset and matching underwear. Dark satin lace enclosed all the rights parts of her body, making her look even curvier, and her cleavage was raised up and fuller.
Pio swallowed. His mouth had suddenly gone very dry.
"Well", Mia said, her voice sultry. "What do you think?"
Pio swallowed again. Somehow all manner of speaking had left him, and he didn't realise he was trembling until the dessert fork started rattling on his plate. He quickly put it down and looked back at her.
"Mia...You..."
His eyes grazed over her with shameless relish. And he didn't even bother hiding his physical reaction.
She approached him, and he eagerly took her in his arms.
"Happy Birthday, Pio."

2. What's your feel good movie?
Oooh that's a tough one! 🤭 I don't really have just one movie, but I will say that the older Disney movies tend to put me in a feel good mood ^^ Movies like Atlantis that I watched so much as a kid, or even ones that I finally got to watch this year like Treasure Planet, are some of the best!
I think it might be the 2D art styles. It's just nostalgic to me ^^
OH! And I can't forget the Mario Movie! 🤭 That movie and the hype up to it was one of the best feelings this year...And I still get happiness whenever I watch the scenes and experience so many emotions. I know it has flaws some I think that are a bit overblown imo but I waited over 20 years for a proper Mario Movie experience - of course this movie makes me feel so much ;_;

OK so this may get emotional because I have been struggling this year. But I'll do my best!
Physical
1. My glasses
I know that is a weird thing to say, but I generally see wearing glasses as part of my style and identity - and I enjoy the tropes in shows (usually in anime) where the character flashes their glasses in a sinister fashion. I am that character.
2. My style - or to be more specific, figuring out my style and finding pieces that make me feel stylish and confident ^^
3. My ears - they are dainty and don't stick out 🤭
Non Physical
1. I've always been told I'm good at my writing and literature skills
2. The fact that I go out of my way to learn so much about franchises I will likely never play (such as Xenoblade and Final Fantasy) because I'm too invested in the stories in whatever way.
3. The fact that I rarely write ideas down and instead have it all crammed in my head. I have no idea how it holds it all!

Pio: Pio is very big on table top/miniature games. He may be a muscular man, but he has a careful, gentle hand, and can paint tiny figures with the utmost precision. He also loves board games, and gets very competitive (it does feel good to trounce his brothers in these games, especially because they aren't very good at them!).
Mia: Mia loves stories, and when the twins were born, she created little picture books for both of them, filled with illustrations and tissue paper covered pages. They were such beautiful creations and she still has them ^^

I imagine their first birthday once they move to the mushroom kingdom to be a bit overwhelming only cause Peach goes all out by decorating the entire kingdom, all the toads send the bros cards (where their mail box looks like it'll comically explode), and she just throws the biggest party for them from early afternoon into the late night. after all, that's how the citizens celebrate her day of stumbling upon the kingdom, and she's been to Brooklyn during their birthday and has seen what they do to celebrate. I see her being very excited about setting it all up cause while she can't throw an extravagant party for all her citizens' birthday like she wants. They are the heroes of the kingdom, and she wants them to know how much her and her people appreciate all that the bros. Do!!
The bros. They are still getting used to their status as heroes and aren't used to being in the spotlight of so many people and up till that point while they nice get togethers with a small group of people, family, and each other it's just not to big of a spectacle (ig would be the right word)
Maybe after a little talk cause they are appreciative of the time and care that went into it all, Peach dials it back a bit from then on and just a get-together (where all the toads come) on the castle grounds during dinner is enough for them.
As a little bonus because I love the idea of Mama Mia getting Peach into cooking and baking, she does the cake making and decorates herself and does the prepping of meals (Mia has taught her some of the boy's favorite dishes) overnight and the toad chef's follow her specific steps if she doesn't oversee the process all together.
Yes this is perfect! And so in character for the movie versions 👍
Peach and the toads are all about huge celebrations; the Bros on the other hand would be so overwhelmed! They have never had this much attention thrown at them before. They smile and thank everybody, while also feeling very shy and awkward; the day after the party, they take Peach aside to quietly tell her that they would prefer a more toned down gathering.
Of course, nothing can stop the flood of cards from the toads every year 🤣
