“Spring came with awakening, came with innocence and joy.
Spring came with fascination, and desire to deploy.
Summer came with restlessness and curiosity.
Summer came with longings for the things we could not be.
Autumn came with knowledge, came with ego, came with pride.
Autumn came with shamefulness for the things we could not hide.
Winter came with anger and a bitter taste of fate.
Winter came with fear for the things we could not escape.”
“Teach me of the forest, teach me of the trees.
Teach me anything, as long as you teach me.
Teach me of the ocean, teach me of the sea.
Teach me of the breathing be.”
“See me! I am the one creation.
Hear me! I am the love that came from [Animae].
Know me! I am the incarnation.
Fear me! I am the power held by [Animae].”
- Imago by Pain of Salvtion
I just wanted to do some Tenken art based of my favorite song since I feel it’s so fitting. Hope my vision came through tho. Tengen and Kenjaku was suppose to look at the child version on each other, remembering what once was, with different feelings about it probably. But I couldn’t figure out how to make it look right so I split them up in paintings instead lol.
There are a lot of metaphors and symbolism in this too ofc. My fav thing.
**Animae is a god in the albums story.

You Sing Neteyam His Mother’s Songcord In Order To Calm Him Down (SFW)
Reader is Fem! Omaticaya
CW: fluffy angst, Neteyam is angry with his father, reader is such a good girlfriend ( you two are promised but haven’t mated yet ), kenten is the swirling gecko from the first movie, atokirina are the little floating seeds.
Tumblr media
“Why must I always take responsibility for his actions?! I may be the older brother, but that does not mean I should be the one punished!” Neteyam vented, angrily skipping a rock across the bioluminescent water of the river.
“Have you tried telling your father this? Maybe he’ll listen,” you softly suggested, trying to give some sort of comfort to him.
You hadn’t seen Neteyam this mad in a long time.
He and Lo’ak were supposed to be lookouts for the most recent raid on the Sky people, but, like usual, Lo’ak rushed in without thinking and ended up getting them both grounded.
A lot of good that was doing seeing Neteyam sneaked out to meet you.
“Of course I have! But he never listens! He treats me and Lo’ak like soldiers. We are not family to him. For Eywa’s sake, I have to call him sir!” Neteyam exclaimed, roughly running a hand through his braids.
In a yell of frustration, he walks over to the tree you were resting against and punches it with all his might, leaving a fairly sized dent.
The vibrations shook you to your core, and was your wake up call to calm him down before he did something rash.
“Mawhey, Neteyam. Don’t let your anger crowd you reason,” you said with furrowed brows, your stern tone snapping him out of it.
No matter how mad, there was no reason to strike the tree.
“Sorry,” he muttered, looking down at the ground with balled fists.
You sighed, replacing your frown with a smile and holding out your hand to him.
“Come,” you beckoned, any trace of scolding now gone.
He huffed, begrudgingly taking your hand, letting out an oof when you roughly yanked him down to the ground, placing his head in your lap.
“(y/n), what are you doin-?” “Hush,” you shushed, placing a finger to his lips.
He kept quiet, and you moved a stray braid out his face, fixing your shoulders against the tree so you were comfy.
“Lie si oe Neteyamur. Nawma sa’nokur, mìfa oeyä,” you sang, running your fingers through his hair so softly, it made Neteyam almost loathe the way he did it earlier.
He looked up at you awestruck, surprised and confused as to how you knew the song his mother sang to him throughout his childhood, the memories that came flooding back washing away all the anger he held before.
“Atanti ngal molunge, mìpa tìreyti, mìpa tìkanti,” you continued, turning towards the beautiful river that stood next to you.
It was all so tranquil. Your voice, the flowing water, the head massage.
He was soon forgetting why he was so angry in the first place.
“Lawnol a mì te’lan. Lawnol a mì te’lan,” you both looked up to see a kenten jump off from higher branch, it’s frills unfurling as it calmly floated down to the ground.
“Ngaru irayo seiyi ayoe, tonìri tìreyä. Ngaru irayo seiyi ayoe, Srrìri tìreyä.”
Neteyam could feel his head nodding, his eyelids becoming impossibly heavy.
And looking at you...you were ethereal. Smiling and glowing, beaming down like rays of pure sunlight.
All for him.
And that’s when he saw a flurry of atokirina descending from above.
You noticed his change in expression and looked up as well, only to see the seeds circling the both of you, hanging in the air like stars right before your eyes.
“Ma Eywa, Ma Eywa,” you finished, a soft smile gracing your lips as an atokirina landed in the palm of your hand.
And after letting it rest for a moment, you held it up and allowed it to float away, the others following suit.
Probably on their way to grace another.
“You see, Neteyam? This is a sign from Eywa. You father means no harm. He loves and cares for you deeply, and only wants what’s best for you,” you smiled, placing a feather-light kiss between his eyes.
But Neteyam didn’t see it that way.
He saw it as a sign from Eywa saying that no matter how bad things got, angry, frustrating, or scary, you would be there. You would be his escape, his safety, his peace.
He had no responsibilities with you ( except protecting you, of course ). When alone, it was just you and him.
And all he had to do was lay down, rest, and listen contently as you sang.

Request:
Could u write a fic ab Sully family x y /n reader? Where she lives with the sully family after her parents died, she gets taken by the colonel in the forest and is set up for bate because he knows she important to the Sully family.
a/n: the way I interpreted this, reader is taken by herself rather than what happens in the film where all of the kids get taken. I did use the rough layout of the scene for inspo but it does diverge from cannon ie Neteyam is with the kids when they get discovered. I hope that’s similar enough to what you mean. also reader is na’vi and around Neteyam’s age :p
Sullys stick together -The Sully family
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Catch me if you can!” Tuk yelled. Her little feet pattering along the branch of an enormous tree, while you and the rest of the Sully children chased her for sport.
She giggled delightedly, dodging out of the way of Lo’ak’s hand.
You really weren’t supposed to be out this far. Too close to the battlefield Jake had said. To close to where the sky people had already begun laying their claim on Pandora. Not if the Na’vi had anything to say about it.
But oh, it was such a beautiful day, almost no clouds in the sky, Kenten floated around you with the unfurled fan necks slowing their descent. Who wouldn’t want to get carried away with the day?
Suddenly, little Tuk ran into the trunk of a tree and startled back, falling on her butt. Kiri rushed forward and kneeled beside her, rubbing her back.
“Oh Tuk, are you ok? Are you hurt?” Kiri asked, ever the nurturer.
Tuk rubbed her nose and sniffed, tiny little tears blooming in her eyes. “Yeah, just got a fright, that’s all.”
Kiri helped the youngest sully stand up and continued to comfort her. Tuk reassured her sister that she was ok and Kiri relented. Tuk then wandered off to continue her little adventure.
“Wait, guys! Look!” Lo’ak whisper shouted.
Everyone looked to the direction he was pointing. Spider’s eyes widened and he even gasped a little.
“Wow, bro. That’s where my dad and your dad fought, right?” He asked Neteyam.
Neteyam didn’t answer right away, looking almost sheepish. “Yeah, bro.”
Lo’ak looked like he could barely keep still, a giddy grin upon his face.
“Well c’mon! Let’s have a look inside!” He was about to spring up when you put a firm hand on his shoulder.
“No way! We have no idea what’s in there, there could be some old tech still active, or…I don’t know, some angry beast!”
Despite not being a blood member of the Sulky family, after Jake and Neytiri took you under their wing and growing up with them for so long cemented your place among them as family. You were as much Neteyam’s sister as Tuktirey was.
Despite not being a blood member of the Sully family, they listened to you and cared about what you had to say, or that’s what you thought.
“That’s why we have our knives, skxawng.” And with that Lo’ak got you to sprint to the abandoned lab. Well, he would’ve had it not been for the tussling of the bushes opposite where you were all crouching.
“Sit down!” Neteyam gritted out, he grabbed his younger brother by the back of his neck and yanked him back down beside him. Lo’ak started to protest, talking about how it was probably some harmless animal. The sound of voices shut him down. Voices speaking in, english.
You were confused. Sky people should not have gotten this far out without drawing attention of the clan. Neteyam motioned for everyone to be still and you all watched on as the voices got closer.
Neteyam turned on his comms and started speaking to Jake. You could guess what he was saying; do not engage, retreat, stay low and out of sight. All very good suggestions in your opinion.
You kept your gaze intently to the direction of the voices, just waiting for them to pop out so you could get a good look at them and hopefully get some answers to your burning questions.
For better or for worse your questions were answered sooner than you thought.
Aside from the speaking english, the only thing that gave them away for being avatar and not Na’vi was the tactical gear. They were fully decked out. A few of them had arms decorated with tattoos and…sunglasses, Jake had called them.
They slowly approached the abandoned lab with guns raised and eyes everywhere. You all ducked down further once you realised you were way out of your league. Unarmed humans you might be able to handle. Armed humans, definitely more difficult but you had done it before, but avatar who were armed to the teeth along with the strength and speed of the na’vi made for a dangerous mix. You all watched as they searched through the building, overturning the insides of it.
“Come on, dad is on his way, he told us to fall back.” Neteyam’s urged all of you, gesturing into the forest behind him.
“What? No! This is our- my chance to prove to dad that I can help! I can be an asset to the people!”
Neteyam and Lo’ak continued to bicker when you noticed Kiri looking around, looking around desperately.
“Kiri?” you asked, “what’s wrong?”
The girl looked almost brought to tears when she looked up to you.
Her voice trembled, “Where is Tuk?”
Oh god.
She had disappeared before Lo’ak had picked up on the lab.
No one had seen her since.
Kiri clasped her hands around her mouth, she looked about as scared as you felt. God, little Tuktirey.
Abruptly, the group of avatars in front of you trained their guns on clump of trees of to your right. You had heard the sound too, a snap of a small branch or twig. Whatever had stepped on it was light.
Light enough to be Tuk.
The hostiles started to walk toward the noise. It’s like you were watching them in slow motion. Off to the side you could see Kiri’s eyes widen, horror flashed across her face. Spider had a similar expression, his eyebrows upturned in the centre. Lo’ak and Neteyam had stopped their fighting and just looked scared out of their own minds. Neteyam for once didn’t have a solution for everything.
So you did the only thing you could think of. A stupid, stupid thing looking back on it, a stupid thing parading itself as bravery. You scrunched your face, said a silent prayer to Eywa to deliver Tuk to safety and to give you strength for whatever was to happen.
You lept out from behind the log and dashed out of cover.
The avatars snapped their attention to you and raised their guns, but you kept charging towards them. Unsheathing the small knife you kept on you at all times, you cried out.
An avatar with short cropped hair on the top of his hair held out his hand and caught you around the neck. He didn’t hold you tight enough to strangle you, but tight enough that you couldn’t escape. He lifted you up into the air like you were fresh prey.
You struggled and snarled, trying to get your knife in any part of him that you could reach.
“Well, well, well, lookie here…” Quaritch chuckled darkly. He motioned for his squad to lowers their guns and the obeyed, observing their colonel with obvious amusement. It made you sick, you probably outwardly grimaced.
“I’ve seen you somewhere before.” He muttered. Quaritch made a show of ‘hmmm’ing and scratching his chin in fake thought. “Ah yes, i’ve seen your runnin’ around with the Sully spawn. You’ve been causin’ a lot of trouble, you and those other brats.”
You pretended not to understand him, opting to keep snapping and thrashing at him. It was not a complete lie; while Jake had taught you some basic english, you could probably only form the sentences of a small human child.
“The thing looks feral…” A teammate muttered from behind the colonel and the squad laughed.
“Don’t be fooled, soldier. These Na’vi can be quite clever when they put their heads together.” The colonel responded.
Thinking of your family behind you, you hoped and prayed that they had retreated back with Tuktirey.
Quaritch lowered you to the ground but before you tried to make a break for it, he wove his fingers through your hair and pulled hard.
You bit your teeth to stifle a scream and reached up to attempt to pry his hand off of your head.
“I know that there’s more of you back there, in the tree line, so you behave and my team will leave them be.” Fear flooded you at that, hearing that this man knew you weren’t alone. With a snap of his fingers he could have you all held hostages. So you stilled. You rested your hands back at your sides and begrudgingly set your gaze on him.
The avatar holding you smiled.
“Children o’ Sully! You listen here,” he spoke in english before switching into what seemed to be pretty broken na’vi, “you tell your father to come here, and this girl will be returned unharmed in exchange for his compliance.”
At least he didn’t know Neteyam had already been in contact with both Jake and Neytiri. If they just pretended to leave, Jake and Neytiri would think of a plan. Like they always do.
The bushes where everyone was hiding rustled. Quaritch tensed and the avatars behind you raised their guns once more, but the bushes stilled, no other came from it.
You let out a breath you didn’t know you were holding. You hoped that they had gone back home or at least taken Tuk back.
“Alright everyone, I’m guessing we can expect Jake Sully and his mate getting here pretty soon.” He drawled, turning to face his team. “Get ready for an attack. Be on your guard and keep your new eyes and ears sharp.”
-
Jake and Neytiri quietly dismounted their Ikran and armed themselves. Neytiri looked as if she was shaking with rage, her mouth downturned and her eyes looking for a threat.
“Hey, I’m sure they’re all fine. They’re tough kids, they’re our kids which make them tougher.” Jake attempted a joke but it died out in the silence when Neytiri did not respond.
They hadn’t landed far from where Neteyam told them they were and they were almost silent as they crept forward into the thicket.
A flutter of motion from they’re left has Neytiri’s bow drawn and aimed at the spot.
“Mom! It’s just us! It’s me, Lo’ak!” Lo’ak revealed himself from his hiding spot, arms raised and Neytiri breathed a watery sigh.
She rushed forward, took her baby in her arms, and held him tightly. Lo’ak wrapped his arms around her neck and squeezed. From behind him, Neteyam and spider emerged too, looking a little more embarrassed. Jake looked at his eldest and frowned.
“Where are your sisters?” He asked. Neytiri finally set Lo’ak down and gasped a little, noticing the absence of three of the Sully children.
“Kiri took Tuktirey back home and..” Neteyam looked ashamed, “yn was taken.”
His mother squeezed her eyes closed. Even if you weren’t born of her, you were her daughter. The idea of you being taken, as bait no less, had her heart in her stomach and her chest alight with anger.
Jake sighed and his face turned stony. “You all stay here, stay hidden, while we clean up your mess.” He whispered. The boys wilted and sunk back.
-
Your legs were starting to ache with how long you had been standing and your scalp with how hard the grip he had on your hair.
The man who had been holding you earlier passed you off to another one of his teammates, who seemed to take liberties in yanking your hair every once and a while.
The once clear sky had filled with clouds and rain trickled down through the canopy above you. No one had spoken in a long time, like everyone was holding their breath.
Suddenly, your ear twitched and you flicked your eyes to where you had heard…something. It could just be the sounds of the forest, an animal eating a plant or a ripe piece of fruit hitting the earth, but this sound sounded out of place, made my something not of the forest.
You caught a glimpse of something blue ducking behind the trunk of a wide tree. They had been holding what looked like a bow. Neytiri!
You shut your eyes and thanked Eywa for delivering you a mother as magnificent and brave as her.
Everything was still for a while and you wondered why Neytiri hadn’t taken a shot. Had she left? In an attempt to look like you were getting drowsy, you slumped a back into the avatar holding you. Your head hit his chin as you did so. He shoved you forward again, tugging your hair as he did so.
That’s why she hadn’t taken a shot, there was too much of a risk of hitting you. You looked up to where you had seen her before and caught her eyes. She had been staring at you intently the whole time, waiting for an opening.
So you gave her one.
You hoped she understood what you tried to say in a single look.
Saying another silent prayer to Eywa, you grabbed the arm that wasn’t gripping your hair, brought it up to your mouth, and bit down as hard as you could.
The man screamed, “You little bitch!”
Thankfully, on instinct he let go of your head and you had just enough time to duck out of the way before an arrow hit him straight between the eyes.
-
Twigs and leaves crunched beneath your feet and you made a break into the forest. You didn’t dare look back behind you. Gunshots rang through the air, some even whizzed past you.
Just as you jumped over the fallen trunk of a tree, an arm caught you from the side. You fought against it, landing a blow against whoever’s face had snatched you.
They groaned and let you go.
“Be calm! It’s just me!” Spider said as he held his now bloody nose.
You gasped and reached out to touch his face. “Oh Spider, I’m so sorry. You scared me!”
He shook his head a little before standing up, offering you a hand. “It’s fine, let’s go. Lo’ak and Neteyam already left.”
You took his hand and the two of you ran through the forest together. Never daring to look back.
-
When Jake and Neytiri returned, you knew you were all in for it.
You and your siblings listened outside of their tent, listening to them argue. You held Tuk to you, you didn’t want her to hear what they were saying but she insisted, so all you could do was let her know she wasn’t alone.
Jake stormed out of the tent and you all pretended to be looking at anything else. Smooth.
“yn, get over here.” He ordered. Lo’ak patted you on the back and walked away with the others.
“That stunt you pulled!? That’s not on, okay? It was stupi-!”
You interrupted him, “What I did was stupid, but I don’t regret it. If I hadn’t, Tuk would have been in my position and I couldn’t stand by and watch that happen, sir.” Jake was silent at that. The same stern look painted across his face and his eye twitched.
You stood your ground.
He stood his. For a while.
Until he broke.
The hard look he had softened and he just looked like a tired dad. You realised how stressed he must be, knowing that an old enemy was back and would go through his family to get him. He though he had lost Neteyam earlier this week, and now his daughter? You could have sympathy for him.
You approached him and wrapped your arms around his broad chest. “I’m sorry, dad. I’m sorry for worrying you.”
It felt as if his chest buckled at that and he returned your hug.
“Don’t ever scare me like that again. Alright, soldier?”
You smiled up at him and gave him a. mock salute.
“Yes, sir.”

Tumblr media
After nearly weeks of traveling on your ikrans, your family had finally arrived in Awa’atlu, desperately seeking Uturu to get away from war. You were standing beside your brother, Neteyam, your lanky arms hanging awkwardly in front of you, tense hands clasped together in a poor attempt to ground yourself.
You felt even more awkward when an–admittedly attractive– boy and his friend entered the crowd. Once the two of you made eye contact–his being a thousand times more intense than yours, burning into you like a hundred suns– you immediately brought your hand to your forehead, a sign of respect.
Instead of him doing the same like you thought he would, he flared his nostrils and looked you up and down with a narrowed glare. His stare made a feeling flutter deep in your stomach, like someone alerted a field of colorful kenten.
Oh. He was sizing you up.
With an inaudible inhale, you shuffled closer to Neteyam, his heavy arm immediately coming to wrap around your tense shoulders, thumbing at scarred skin, effectively grounding you. Your big amber eyes never broke away from Aonung’s baby blue ones, furrowing your eyebrows and flicking your ears upward in embarrassment from being blatantly ignored. He would definitely be a problem later.
It was when your dad whispered an “it’s alright, be cool” that you finally broke his gaze, opting to look at the ground beneath you. Your thick braids curtained the sides of your face, beads clicking together harmoniously–the feeling of being watched intensely from a crowd of na’vi made you feel nauseous, dizzy, and even more alienated; your nose twitching as the the saltiness of the air nearly intoxicates you.
The sand felt weird, foreign, incredibly unfamiliar to the dark soil you already missed digging your feet into. The waves crashing against the shore, however, sounded lovely. The wind blows, it passes over, beneath, and between the mangroves, one after another, never to return. Though, it wasn’t enough to fill the void. You hoped that after all this blew over, you and your family would be able to go back home–but the gnawing voice at the back of your head knew that would never happen.
“These children are not even true Na’vi.”
You harshly blinked away the tears that threatened to spill when you felt the Tsahìk rip one of your clasped hands away, only to hold your four-fingered hand up for the scrutinizing crowd to see. Her voice boomed with authority.
“They have demon blood!”
The only thing you could hear were ringing in your ears, your own pulsing heartbeat, and the scared gasps of the na’vi surrounding you.
Welp. This is your life now. Your home.
.⠀ ݁ ⸜⸜ 𓂃 ✿̅
“Hey!” Lo’ak yelled, striding up to Aonung and his crew with you following closely behind, “Back off, fishlips.” Kiri took a few small steps back, looking between the both of you in a slight panic; you nodded towards her and she nodded back with a small, yet obviously forced smile on her face, the look in her eyes gave you just enough to know she was fine.
Aonung’s face quickly morphed into a smirk, his tone criminally sardonic. By Eywa, this boy is evil. “Oooh, more four-fingered freaks!” He cackled wickedly, lightly shoving Lo’ak–almost playful– like he wasn’t tormenting Kiri a few moments ago. Him and his gang started to crowd around your twin, pulling and touching the thin tail that flicked with annoyance.
“Leave us alone!” Kiri chorused, the plea sitting desperately on her tongue.
With an exaggerated sigh, you ran up beside Lo’ak and shoved Aonung with as much strength as your lithe body could muster at the moment, running off of pure adrenaline. The push wasn’t that strong, but strong enough that it made Aonung take a few steps back, admittedly flustering him a little. “Dude, don’t touch him!” You emphasized, your frantic, honeyed eyes as wide as can be, staring back into his.
Time seemed to stop for Aonung as he took in your appearance like he did the first time you two saw each other, yet you were even beautiful up close. His eyes looked between your left eye, your right, and then to your lips. Before his own mind could even register, he wrapped his big hand around your wrist, indulging in how it nearly engulfed your entire hand. Once his thumb caressed your skin, you felt your heart jump.
“Beautiful..” Aonung whispered– his voice low and deep– so that just the two of you would be able to hear it. His tongue swiped at his bottom lip, effectively distracting you from what was really important at the moment.
It seems that he was too caught up in taking you in, narrowly missing the way Neteyam was currently striding up to him with vigor, shoving him with way more force than you ever had, resulting in everyone going quiet and shifting their attention towards him.
“You heard what they said.” Neteyam started, pointing an accusing finger at Aonung. “Leave them alone.”
“Back off, now.”
Aonung raised his hands up in mock surrender, looking off to the side as Neteyam continued to stare holes into his head.
“Smart choice. And from now on I need you to respect my sisters.”
“Let’s go.” Neteyam gathered you, Kiri, and Lo’ak like sheep, ready to walk away and get whatever the hell was happening over with.
“Look at them. They’re all freaks, the whole family.”
Lo’ak sighs deeply at this and makes his way back over to Aonung and his friends.
Watching him with wide eyes, your heart panged as you figured out what would happen as soon as he steps into their vicinity again. “Lo’ak..” You chided, hurriedly looking back towards your twin and the snickering guys behind him.
“I got this, sis.”
Lo’ak, in fact, did not have it. A huge fight broke out between everyone, excluding Kiri of course. What kind of twin would you be if you didn’t jump in?
.⠀ ݁ ⸜⸜ 𓂃 ✿̅
You all were definitely about to get the lecturing of a lifetime–or, you and Lo’ak, at least. Lo’ak had his hand wrapped around his arm, Neteyam rubbing at his bloodied nose, while you had your arms crossed, nails digging into your elbows. All with Jake trailing behind, practically seething with anger.
“What was the one thing I asked? The one thing?”
“Stay out of trouble–” You and Lo’ak chorused, Neteyam looking off to the side.
“Stay out of trouble, right.”
“And you,” Jake started incredulously, turning his stern gaze towards you. He knew you and Lo’ak were alike, down to a T, so maybe he really shouldn’t be surprised, yet he still couldn’t help but feel a semblance of disappointment pang in his chest as he watched the pinkish hue of Aonung’s blood stain the tips of your teeth and the cracks of your bruised lips. “You bit Aonung!”
“I did not–” “Yes, you did! Oh, so now you’re starting to lie to me?” Immediately, your ears cast downward, the loudness of his voice making tears brim your eyes and your bottom lip tremble. He was right, you actually did lie, the taste of iron fresh on your tongue to further prove his point. But how you hated when your father spoke to you like this–the weight of shame and disappointment dripping down your shoulders like hot syrup.
You felt Lo’ak and Neteyam’s stare burn into the side of your head like hot coals, their hearts heavy as they both watched their little sister get scolded for something she didn’t start.
Neteyam pursed his lips before stepping in front of you and Lo’ak, ready to defend. “Sir, it is all my fault–”
“I don’t think so. You gotta stop taking the heat for these two knuckleheads.” Your shoulders were pinched as a tear ran down the slope of your rounded cheek, hand coming up to quickly swipe it away. Neteyam stepped over to place a hand on your back.
“Dad, Aonung was picking on Kiri.. called her a freak.” Lo’ak said softly, as to not make your father raise his voice any more than he already was. Jake’s stern gaze softened at this, looking off to the side. He sighed audibly before looking back to the both of you.
“Go apologize to Aonung.”
“What?” You and Lo’ak said in unison, both of your eyebrows furrowing.
“He is the chief’s son, do you understand? I don’t care how you do it, just make peace. Just go.”
And with that, Lo’ak sighed and shook his head, stray braids swinging with the movement, walking off to go find Aonung with you scurrying behind like a lost, pitiful puppy. You didn’t dare look back when Jake called for Neteyam, only focusing on controlling your own harsh breathing. This had to have been the worst day of your life.
.⠀ ݁ ⸜⸜ 𓂃 ✿̅
“Run that by me again.”
“..Whatever that means.”
“Repeat what you said.”
“I said, if you allow me to court your sister, you will be pardoned.”
“Dude, I am not prostituting my sister. Are you nuts or something?”
“Not prostituting, I just happen to like her.”
Well, you thought, so much for trying to apologize.
You were currently hiding behind a nearby tree, ears alert as you listened in on their conversation. Lo’ak told you to stay put, that he’d go apologize to the dude himself since you didn’t have anything to do with it; technically you did bite him, and his friend.. and two more of his friends. But that was because you had teeth, so why not use them for what they’re made for?
By the time Aonung blinked, you were already at your twin’s side, amber eyes glancing into amber eyes before peeking into his blue ones. “I am very sorry, Aonung, but I don’t think Kiri is interested in you. Like, at all.” You said with a tilt of your head, beads thudding almost mockingly.
After an awkward beat of silence, Aonung cleared his throat. “No, I’m not talking about Kiri..? I’m talking about you, (Y/N).”
Lo’ak gawked at him as if he had grown fifteen heads, eyebrows raised incredulously. “Bro–” “I accept your offer.” Now Lo’ak was staring at you as if you were crazier for even accepting, mouth open cartoonishly wide. Aonung, however, looked extremely pleased at your response, glancing at Lo’ak in a way that screamed ‘she said it, not me’.
“Whatever. Let me know if you need me to beat him up, okay? And you, bring my baby sister back before eclipse.” Lo’ak huffed before turning to set off along the shore, shaking his head in the procress.
“Not a baby, Lo’ak, we were born five minutes apart!” You complained in English, making Aonung’s ears perk up at the foreign language that spilled from your mouth.
Lo’ak turned to you, flipping you off with both hands raised in the air–even with his thumbs out. Disrespectful. “Girl, bye!”
You watched your brother walk further and further, his silhouette getting smaller and smaller. Blinking, you turned to Aonung, only to find out he’s already staring you down intensely. Acknowledging him with a nod of your head, you felt your cheeks flush at his attention, a fluttering feeling took over the pit of your stomach.
Aonung crowded you, tucking his fingers under your chin to make you look up at him. “Just so you know, I would have courted you even without your brother’s permission, sweet girl.” His eyes were even prettier up close, a striking narrowed blue boring into your honey ones. You felt your heart violently palpate at the name, and with a nervous exhale, you shied away from his hand.
“Come.” You quipped sweetly, skipping ahead with Aonung following close behind, his eyes trailing down your form, stopping at the pretty woven bow that sat right at the base of your tail. His gaze snapped back to your face when he saw you face him in his peripheral, heart thudding against his ribcage. “Do you call everyone ‘sweet girl’?”
“No, only you. You are very pretty, by the way.”
“Thanks bro.” He internally cringed at the choice of label, it was a habit, obviously, but Aonung didn’t seem to mind it very much; he knew it would change over the course of time. “You think the same about Lo’ak?”
“By Eywa, no, he doesn’t look half as good as you, paskalin.”
“He is my twin, skxawng. We look the same.”
Aonung went silent for a few moments, scanning your features before responding. “.. Not necessarily. The shape of the hair over your eyes are both the same, though. I will give you that much.”
Your laugh fluctuated throughout the air, singing harmoniously with the crashing waves. You desperately trying to ignore the way your entire body felt like it was lit up in flames when he placed his hand on the small of your waist, thumbing at the skin, you were sure he could hear your heartbeat threatening to jump out of your chest.
Looking up at him, you noticed the small multitude of bite marks along his shoulders and arms, your ears lowering in guilt when the phantom taste of iron filled your mouth, remembering what your dad told you.
“Also–uhm– sorry for biting you.. so many times.”
“It’s okay, I liked it, sorry for calling you a freak.”
“No hard feelings. I’ve said worse about you with Lo’ak.” Aonung decided he would ignore that last part, while you decided to ignore the first part of his statement, feeling your face flush for the thousandth time today.
“I really did like it, by the way, you biting me. Do it again next time.”
“.. Jesus christ.”
“Who?”
You didn’t really like it here at first, but since the Olo’eyktan’s son currently had his hand digging into the skin of your waist with full intent on courting you, you guess you could make it work.

I need more reader and txonuk bonding 😭
you got it 🫡
⊱✿⊰ ⊱✿⊰ ⊱✿⊰ ⊱✿⊰ ⊱✿⊰ ⊱✿⊰ ⊱✿⊰ ⊱✿⊰ ⊱✿⊰ ⊱✿⊰
“mama?” se’ayl yells from across your marui. “will you braid my hair again before bedtime?”
“of course, little love. i just have to get nima tucked in first, and help tsantu finish weaving his armband. then, i will have some time to braid your hair before bed, okay?” you say gently, placing a kiss to your eldest daughters’ head.
“mama! mama, look!” txonuk exclaims, waving his toruk toy around in the air. when he sees you’re occupied with se’ayl, he decides to make his way over to nima. “he’s gonna get you, nima!”
nima squeals, running straight to neteyam. “daddy! daddyyy! ‘nuk teasin’ me!”
neteyam scoops nima up in one swift movement, glancing down at txonuk unamused.
“txonuk. what have i told you? no riling your sister up before bed.”
txonuk gives a small pout, sighing before running over to tsantu, in hopes that he’ll play along.
“tsantu, toruk is coming for you!” he begins to fly the toy over tsantu’s head, who’s too busy learning how to finish the weave of his armband.
“txonuk, no he’s not. toruk is gone, grandpa said so himself. don’t be silly.” tsantu sighs, continuing to work on his weaving.
txonuk’s lower lip trembles, as he runs the few feet to his sleeping mat, curling up on it. he raises the toruk toy above his head, sniffling as he attempts to entertain himself.
after tucking nima in with your mate, you glance over at txonuk’s sleeping mat. noticing the shift in your son’s behavior, you standing up, making your way over. slowly and gently, you approach him, kneeling beside his mat.
“txonuk? what is it?” you say quietly, very gently as you reach a hand out to rest it on his small shoulder.
txonuk turns to face you, his eyes wet and his lower lip quivering.
“no one will play with me, mama.” he sniffles, rubbing his tiny fists over his eyes.
your lips turn to a slight frown, as you rest a hand over your son’s curls.
“well, it is bedtime, little love. your siblings are very tired, that’s why we go to sleep now, so we can wake up in a better mood tomorrow!” you glance over at neteyam, who’s helping tsantu finish his armband. sighing, you smile at the sight, as you scoop your youngest son up in your arms.
“i know what will cheer you up. how about we take a little walk to the pond? it looks very beautiful this time of night, i think you’ll love it.” you smile down at your son, tucking a curl behind his ear.
txonuk raises a fist to his eye, rubbing it gently as he rests his cheek against your shoulder. “okay, momma.”
you carry your youngest son over to your mate, leaning in to whisper “i’m just taking him to the pond. i won’t be too long.” you place a quick kiss to neteyam’s cheek, tousling your eldest son’s hair. “that looks wonderful, tsantu.”
“mmm..have fun.” neteyam whispers back, gently placing a kiss to your forehead. “maybe you and i can go back after they’re all asleep?”
“we’ll see.” you give neteyam a wink before carrying txonuk out of your marui.
“momma, wanna get down, please.” txonuk says, squirming out of your arms. as you gently place him on the forest floor, the bioluminescence begins to glow around his feet. each step illuminates your path to the small pond your family goes to swim in.
“momma! momma!” txonuk begins to tug on your loincloth as you approach the now colorfully lit up pond.
“it’s beautiful, isn’t it?” you smile at your son, taking his hand in yours as you walk closer to the edge of the pond. txonuk holds onto your leg as you wade in the water.
“momma, look! fishies! they’re glowing, too!” txonuk exclaims, clinging tightly to your leg. he glances over, noticing something shift out of the corner of his eye. “kenten!” txonuk whispers loudly, his face lighting up as he walks the few feet to get closer to the creature. as he reaches a finger out to touch it, the lizard’s wings fan open, beginning to spin and glow. txonuk sighs, watching the lizard fly off. “awww, he went away.”
“it’s all right, there has to be a few more around here, txonuk. oh, look! there’s another one!” you point out. a few feet away, another lizard is crawling on the branch it’s perched on. txonuk hurriedly walks the few feet to meet it, fascinated with the creature.
“can i touch him?” txonuk asks, already lifting his finger towards the creature.
“well, you can try, little love, but he might just-” you begin to say, as the lizard spreads its wings and flies off just as txonuk is about to touch it. “-fly away. i don’t think they like being touched. it’s best we just leave them be, okay?” you brush one of the curls from your sons face, smiling at him.
txonuk nods in agreement, as he yawns, stretching his arms up. “momma, i’m getting sleepy.”
“do you want to head back home? do you want me to carry you, or would you like to walk?” you ask gently.
txonuk silently answers by stretching his arms up towards you. in one quick movement, you scoop him up, cradling him close as you begin to walk home.
“can we come back tomorrow at night too, momma?” txonuk asks, his eyelids growing heavy as they struggle to stay open.
“of course we can. but we have to get a good nights sleep first.” you say, leaning down to press a kiss to the top of his head.
as you approach your home, you carefully brush past the opening flap of your marui. slipping inside, you walk txonuk over to his mat, laying him down carefully.
“how was it? how is he feeling now?” neteyam whispers, approaching you from the other side of your marui, where he was working on stringing se’ayl’s bow while waiting for you to return home.
you tuck one of txonuk’s curls behind his ear, leaning in to kiss his forehead gently before standing. “it was nice. he wanted to touch all of the kenten.” you say, a small giggle escaping your lips at the memory from only moments ago.
neteyam chuckles at this, wrapping his arms around you from behind as he rests his chin on your shoulder. “mmm. i’m glad you were able to spend some time with him alone.”
“me too. he loves it, he wants to go back tomorrow, as a family.” you turn around to face your mate, who swiftly picks you up, carrying you to your shared sleeping mat.
“we can arrange that.” he grins, setting you down gently before settling in beside you. “you’re sure you don’t want to head back now?”
“hmm…i don’t know if i’d make it there awake. i’m exhausted. but we always can tomorrow..” you whisper, nuzzling into your mate’s chest.
“tomorrow it is.” neteyam places a kiss to your forehead, wrapping his arms around you as you drift off to sleep.

Festering Desire
Jake Sully X Fem!Omatikaya!Reader
Tumblr media
Summary: After witnessing something you were not meant to see a new emotion began building inside you. It plagued your dreams, your thoughts and every part of your life until it reached a boiling point.  Tags: Minor description of injury, simping?, bad at communicating, wet dreams, minor jealously, confessions, neural link, smut, daddy-ish kink, p n v intercourse.  Author’s Note: This could have really benefitted from a Jake POV but I am so exhausted lately I couldn’t. Also, my smut definitely needs improvement, but I can/will improve that when I am not half asleep.
It was past twilight when you pulled yourself out of the river and began the long walk home. You escaped here for tranquility and a place to clear your head of unwanted thoughts. The Olo'eyktan, Jake Sully, had pretty much banned you from traveling after eclipse along with several other members of the clan, his children to be more specific.
He explained it as a safety precaution since the sky people had returned but they rarely ever struck after the moons emerged. Your sister, Käani, said it was because you got too lost in your head and were a safety hazard yourself. You’ll admit you were cursed with clumsiness and the ability to completely forget your surroundings, but you’ve lived here all your life, and nothing ever happens after eclipse anyways.
You wrapped your loincloth around yourself, basking in the time you spent alone. The bioluminescent plants beneath the water's surface always brightened the night so you never had to fear the dark. The forest was filled with noise every eclipse, animals much preferred to roam in the comfort of darkness. You were wrapped in a shroud of warmth as you skipped your way home, becoming distracted by various plants all around you. Your home was nothing short of stimulating, always something beautiful to look at or to play with.
A Kenten laid on a large plant, blissfully unaware of your presence. You snuck up behind it, waiting for the proper time to pounce. Slowly, it veered its head in your direction, gazing at you cautiously. Your tail began swishing through the air excitedly, waiting for it to do the thing. The kenten blinked slowly before you gently blew air towards it. It’s fans spread almost immediately, flying into the air in a circle and eliciting giggles from you.
You began to chase it deeper into the woods, forgetting about what might be waiting for you. It led you all the way into a part where the bioluminescent barely shined and the original animal noises you heard were hushed. Its fans retracted and it disappeared into a nearby tree, leaving you mildly disappointed. You let out a deep sigh, your ears falling flat against your head at the loss of it.
Your feet began to turn to walk back home, for real this time. Until you heard a twig snap in the distance, your ears shot up alerting you to a nearby noise. It was far away from where you were, but it faintly sounded like an animal whimpering in pain. It made your heart ache hearing such noises, you knew you should ignore it and forget but it was impossible. You slowly crept towards the noise; in case a larger animal was feasting on it.
The closer you got to where the sound originated the more Na’vi-eaque it sounded. A woman moaning in pain to be more precise. One thing Jake Sully taught everyone was no man left behind and that involved ones left in the eerie part of the forest too. You saw a faint light from the corner of your eye, quickly you turned to locate its origin. The thing you saw was beyond words, leaving you had frozen in place. Your feet planted themselves firmly into the ground, your eyes nearly popping out of your skull.
The Olo'eyktan had a woman’s legs wrapped around him, thrusting into her at an intense speed. It felt as if your skin was set ablaze, a swirling sensation beginning to form in your gut. Your mouth hung agape at the sight, shocked by what you were witnessing for the first time. You blinked once, twice, before backing away and stepping directly on a branch. The sound echoing through the once quiet area.
As if on cue she spotted you, her eyes locking onto yours, and letting out a choked yelp to signal your presence. It shocked you out of your daze, fear shooting through you as he began to turn. You took off, sprinting in the direction of your tent and avoiding any further unwanted interactions. At several points you felt sharp plants cutting you as you made your ways towards your bed, but it did not matter. All you could think about was escaping Jake before he knew you saw anything.
Once you arrived you practically lunged onto your tent, securing the flap that granted you privacy from the outside world. You nervously paced around your room, panting from all the energy you had excreted. You shook your head violently, trying to banish the image from your mind entirely. The sounds of footsteps approaching your tent made you dive onto your mat, curling up into a ball and pretending to sleep.
You tried to steady your breath, burying your face in your arms so they couldn’t see you. The flap opened silently, you felt someone peer in before slipping away just as quickly. You prayed to Ewya it was just Käani making sure you arrived in one piece.
You squeezed your eyes shut, trying to forget what you had seen and letting sleep take you away. Since his mate had died, he had become a bit of a man-whore. Instead of accepting the emotional comfort he so badly needed, Jake fucked his way through many women of the clan. Mainly other widows as they understood each other's stance. Käani, who understood the ways of sky demons better explained they were relationships without strings attached.
Käani knew many things. She taught you everything you knew, purposefully leaving out select details. Unlike humans, information about sex was not as easily accessible. A person would have to ask another who had experienced it what happened and that was far out of your comfort zone. It would be incredibly awkward, not to mention it made you look clueless.
She did tell you enough, the different appendages, what goes where, and most importantly how to make tsaheylu with your future husband but you stopped asking her questions there. How exactly everything was performed was lost on you, though you hoped you would simply figure it out in the heat of the moment.  Except, now you knew exactly what to expect from intimacy with someone else.
༺♡༻━━━━━━━━━━━━━༺♡༻
There was a warm sensation in between your legs. The feeling of something hard entering an area you never gave much attention to. Your core felt as if it was tingling, causing your body to squeeze around something. You grasped at their arm on instinct, pulling them closer to you. An appendage moved in circles around your clit, eliciting sensations you had never felt before. His mouth moved to suckle at your neck, pulling soft moans out of you. You practically melted into him, wrapping your legs around his warm body and pulling him closer. They were large, so much larger than you, “babygirl,” he whispered into your ear. You lazily opened your eyes, looking up to see who was bringing you such pleasure...
... "Jake?"
Your body jolted awake, your eyes scanning for any intruders. They landed on Käani, who in your tired state looked blue, just like Jake.
“Ahhh! She shouted back, “Ahhh!” Her voice ripped you out of your nightmare, you narrowed your eyes at her. “What are you doing here?!” She threw her arms up in the air as a response, “Why are you screaming at me?!” You settled down, pulling your legs up to your chest in an attempt to hide your embarrassment. You winced as an ache spread through you, your eyes peered down at your body which was covered in bruises, small cuts and dried blood.
“I was trying to prepare some balm for all your wounds before you decided to shout.” Your cheeks burned bright as you remembered last night, you hadn’t even noticed the damage you had done to yourself whilst fleeing the scene. “Oh, sorry tsmuke…” She scooted closer to you, huffing as she pulled your legs towards her and slapped on healing cream to your injuries. Käani was judging you, her eyes boring into you as she tried to decipher what happened.
“Should I ask or assume you are living up to the name of self-safety hazard?” You kicked her in reply, making her chuckle quietly at your expense. For a moment you tried to keep your lips sealed, harboring his secret for him. But your sister was nothing if not persistent and if she didn’t get it from you now, she inevitably would later. “I saw Jake with a woman last night.” Her eyes shot open, forehead wrinkles gracing her forehead as she stared at you. “No shit! Were they…?”
You nodded your head silently in reply, watching her mouth open wide as she stared at you in shock. Käani slapped your leg, “who was it?! Don’t tell me it was Ninat.” You rolled your eyes, the drama between Ninat and your sister was never ending. Both of them were in a constant quiet battle to be the best singer of the clan… Käani, having youth on her side, was winning by a vast majority. “No, I couldn’t tell who and I don’t want to discuss it any further.” She raised her eyes at your reaction, “You’re jealoussss.” Käani shoved your arm suggestively, biting her lip trying to refrain from laughing. “I am not!”
She leaned in, pretending to sniff the air.  “I can smell it on you! You’re jealous he’s not showing you that type of attention, huh?” You swatted her hand away, “You’re so gross! It is not like that.” A faux pout formed on her lips, her hands clasping her heart. “Aw you’ll hurt Jake’s feelings if he hears you say that.” That made your ears perk up, your tail beginning to sway behind you.“What do you mean by that?” A sly smirk crept its way onto your sister's face, you hated when she got that look. You could practically hear her thoughts,‘I know something that you don’t know’.
“You know Jake always gives you extra attention during training and his hands always linger on you longer than normal. He practically watches your every move when you're in his line of sight and don’t get me started on how overprotective of you he has become.” That made you slump back against your tent, thoughts whirling around your head like a storm. “Jake probably pretends all those girls are you.”
Käani was like a devil whispering in your ear, encouraging thoughts you should not be having about your Olo'eyktan. It was impossible for him to fancy you, not in the same way he loved his late wife anyways. Not only that, but you were also younger than him by a noticeable amount. But it did nothing to ease the thing stirring within you, a strange desire beginning to form that you had never felt before.
You were scared of the unfamiliar feelings boiling inside you, the thoughts you had about a man who had already mated once and had children!  They were only thoughts, as long as you did not act upon them then you were safe, you told yourself. She patted your leg, scooting backwards to the exit, "I see I have lost you,” Käani stood up, stretching her arms and gathering her things. “I’ll leave you be for now but don’t even try to skip out on the celebration tonight.” You nodded your head silently as she strided out of your tent as if she owned the place.
༺♡༻━━━━━━━━━━━━━༺♡༻
The camp was alive with music from Ewya, bonfires setting the forest alight with their glow. You held tightly onto Käani’s hand as she pulled you through the crowd, fighting for a log to sit on. You tried to avoid the nervous pit forming in your stomach, Jake was here somewhere.
You didn’t have the heart to face him, spending the entire day safely tucked away in your room. Times like this were rare, especially since the sky people came back. The entire clan was happy, carefree as they celebrated. You should be feeling the same, enjoying the night for what it was but you could not. Your heart ached, knowing the reason why, a lump forming in your throat.
Whereas you were on a mission to avoid someone, your sister was actively hunting men down. Atan was her current best pick for you, a strong warrior with excellent beading skills. When you were younger you used to have a bit of a crush on him, but feelings change like time. Käani heartedly disagreed, scanning the crowd for any sign of him. Whilst she continued singing praises about him in your ear, your eyes locked onto a familiar face.
Jake Sully was watching you.
You swallowed hard, unable to look away from his dark eyes. It felt as if he was staring through you, deep down you wished you could be invisible. He looked especially handsome tonight, his skin glowing with a sheen of sweat across it. His long dark hair was braided neatly behind his head, the braids complimenting his strong features. He smiled politely, his eyes twinkling. Your mind floated back to your dream, the way his lips felt against your neck and the feeling of his body pressed against you.
You looked away quickly, feeling the heat rising to your cheeks. Your ears flattened against your head, that was a wildly inappropriate thought to have at this moment or any moment for that matter. Käani turned her attention towards you, raising an eyebrow at you and following your gaze. "Lover boy is looking at you, tsmuke.” You nudge your sister with your elbow, huffing, "shut up."
She giggled to herself, leaning in close as your eyes focused on the ground, “And he’s coming this way!” Your eyes snapped up, staring at her in disbelief. Before you could protest, or attempt to make a mistake, he was standing right in front of you. Käani quickly stood up to make a place for him, she nodded her in respect, silently reminding you of his position. "Sir." Jake happily nodded back, taking his place behind you and watching your sister walk away before he spoke.
“You didn’t join us for breakfast this morning or show up to training.” His eyes gazed at you quizzingly, an incredulous look plastered on his face. You lifted your leg, showcasing the marks on it without thinking of the implications. “I hurt it last night, Käani demanded I rest.”
“Last night?” The memory flashed back in your mind ripping you out of your drunken stupor. You scramble your words together, speaking fast. “Not after eclipse… I swear.” His face softened as he looked at your body, his fingers gently tracing a cut near your knee. He felt so warm, a strange feeling rose in you, causing you to shiver. You blinked slowly, praying to Ewya he didn't notice. "You need to take better care of yourself, what if this had been more serious?”
You weren't sure if he was scolding you or sincerely worried, both options made you nervous. You mumbled, “sorry, Jake.” His fingers slowly pulled away from your skin, creating a cool void you were beginning to hate.“Are you too injured to dance with me?” His eyes seemed to glimmer in the firelight, a stupid grin lighting up his face. The way his lips curved had you memorized, your eyes glued to them. It was impossible to say no, you nodded your head excitedly.
You followed behind him as he led you through the crowd, weaving between the many bodies. He gently tugged you closer to him as you danced, guiding you around each other and pressing against one another. You couldn't help but notice how strong he felt against you, his arms wrapping around your waist as he moved to the beat. Käani’s words echoed through your head ‘lover boy’ and ‘he imagines those girls are you’ as you danced with him.
You peered up at him, admiring the way his lips parted as he took a deep breath. The way his eyes lit up and pupils dilated when he stared at you.  A burning desire began to bubble up inside of you, a feeling you had never experienced before. It was like Ewya herself was pouring her fire inside of you. You lowered your gaze to your feet, suddenly embarrassed about your feelings towards him. "You seem flustered today,” his fingers brushed your cheek, tipping your chin back up to look at him. "What's the matter, baby girl?"
You dared to look him in his eyes, feeling the camp starting to spin around you. “I- I am not,” you fumbled your words. He watched you for a moment, a Cheshire grin spreading across his, making your heart stop. "Oh really?"  His body inched closer to yours, your heartbeat picking up speed with each passing second. You nearly choked on air, you wanted to say something witty but all that came out of your mouth were a series of broken words. "I, uh... Uh-" a new wave of nervousness washed over you. Jake took another step closer, his body pressed up against yours, his hand holding your waist tightly.
“Jake! Ma’Olo'eyktan,” the shrill voice of none other than Ninat pierced your ear lobes. You snapped out of it quickly, pulling away from Jake as if you were burned. He cleared his throat, forcing a polite smile as she quickly approached. "Ninat, is everything okay?" Her eyes focused on you for a moment, an unpleasant scowl plastered on her face. "The hunters request your presence immediately. They want to celebrate your recent achievements.”
Jake nodded his head, "I'll be right there." She left without another word; you turned your attention back to Jake who seemed annoyed by her interruption. "I’m going to find Käani.” He gave you a faint smile, "I'll find you once I'm done with this.” You didn’t give a proper goodbye, instead quickly turning around and making your way through the crowd, bumping into people as you tried to escape.
༺♡༻━━━━━━━━━━━━━༺♡༻
You did not return to the celebration or participate in anything that may involve Jake the next few days. Jake had been giving you an alarming amount of space, though his attempts to communicate were all futile at best. Käani was greatly disappointed with it all, constantly reminding you that it was your time to shine.
The past several nights you could not escape the dreams that invaded your mind at night. Your peace was sorely disrupted as the thoughts consumed you at every waking moment. If his head was not between your legs, then he was inside of you. If Jake was not on top of you, he was beside whispering sweet nothings into your ear. Sometimes the dreams weren’t of sexual nature at all, which scared you the most. You would be doing mundane things with him like flying, playing with the children or simply laughing enjoying each other’s presence.
It further proved what you were feeling was not hormonal nor would it go away so easily. You tried to remind yourself he was widowed; you were just a kid to him but there was always that seed of hope.
The combination of Jake merely existing and Käani’s constant presence was driving you to insanity. You couldn’t imagine how he would react if he ever found out what was going through your mind. Which is why tonight, you decided to escape to what remained of the spirit tree. You hoped to find solace in a place where Ewya was so prominent. The great mother does not take sides and she does not involve herself in things so trivial. You still hoped this place would give you something to ease your mind.
You sat in front of the tree, bowing your head to show your respects. For a moment, there was silence. You opened your eyes and stared at the light in front of you, watching the tendrils dance around each other.  Then you heard the sounds of leaves cracking beneath someone’s soles. “She’s alive,” You didn’t have to gaze at him to see the grin creeping onto his face. Your heartbeat pounded in your ears as he took a seat beside you, he peered into the sky. "I was wondering when I would see you again.” You continued staring at the tree in front of you, “You know where to find me.”
Jake let out a disappointed breath, knowing the expression on his face faltered. "Have I done something to upset you?" You let out a shaky breath, "it’s not your fault." He watched you closely, you felt like he could see right through you, peeling back each layer and finding the deepest secret you were hiding. Your eyes slowly moved towards him, "Jake... I," your voice trailed off, searching for the right words to say. You took a deep breath, letting the air slowly escape your lips. "Do you like me," the words tumbled out, leaving you in a state of vulnerability.
You glanced up at him, you were met with a soft smile, a strange twinkle in his eyes. "Of course, I like you," he replied so quickly you weren't sure what to do next. Your mind scrambled, trying to formulate a proper response. "I don't mean as a friend.” He leaned in closer to you, his hand cupping your cheek as his eyes bored into yours. "As what?" You were painfully aware of his every movement, the warmth of his hand and the smell of the herbs he was wearing today.
“More,” you spoke quietly, not wanting to hear the reply you were hoping for. Jake’s thumb brushed your cheek softly, your ears flattening against your head as you felt yourself losing control. "I have always liked you." His voice was as gentle as his touch, and for a moment, the world around you seemed to fade away. The weight of his words hung in the air, all the uncertainty and fear that had plagued your heart suddenly disappeared, replaced by warmth.
You took a deep breath, his eyes locked with yours, and mustered the courage to speak your truth. "I want you," you whispered, your voice filled with a mix of vulnerability and longing.  The connection between you deepened, the air crackling with an electric energy. “I was hoping you’d say that.” Jake leaned in closer to you, his fingers wrapping around the back of your neck. "You can have all of me."
Your lips pressed against his cautiously, your heart hammering in your chest as you pressed into him. His lips parted, his tongue tracing the curve of your lower lip. You let out a shaky breath as you felt yourself begin to lose control, his hand moved to the neck of your neck and pressed you closer into him. You kissed him deeply, your arms wrapping around his shoulders as you mounted his lap.
You pulled back, panting heavily as he mourned the loss of you. “What is it,” Jake whispered into your mouth. You felt your heart ache at the thought, “you’ve already mated… we can not-” He hushed you with another deep kiss, his hands reaching around to grab at your queue. “I’m still part human… which means I can.” His voice was full of sincerity, as he pulled his forward, slowly you watched them interlock. The way you felt was indescribable, you could feel every heightened emotion, every throb of his heartbeat, every rush of blood, and every bit of pleasure.
He moaned against your mouth, your fingers tangling themselves in his locs. You were able to feel the warmth radiating off his skin, your thighs squeezing around his waist as he ran his hands across your back unlacing your top. You gasped against his mouth as his fingertips danced along your bare back, leaving a trail of goosebumps in their wake.
You began to move your hips slowly, a soft sigh escaping your lips as he suckled on your neck. His lips parted from your neck, a faint growl escaping his lips, “you’re so perfect, babygirl.” He gripped the sides of your loincloth, untying them with haste, you shivered when the air hit the wetness between your thighs.
Jake gently eased you on the ground, maneuvering himself in between your thighs. He gazed down at you for a moment, admiring you in the moonlight. The way the moon illuminated your skin and hair, how your body shone with a sheen of sweat and the way your eyes seemed to glow. His finger slid against your folds, "so wet already." You shivered, a whine escaping your throat. "Jake-"
"You've never been touched like this before, have you," His cock prodded at your entrance, the head slipping inside of you. Jake moved his hands, placing one on your hip while the other gripping your thigh. You let out a loud scream, the feeling of being stretched making your legs weak. “N-No,” you whimpered out.  Jake pushed you down, his cock forcing itself into your tight cunt. “You’ve been a good little girl waiting for me huh?”
He groaned; his cock burying itself deep inside of you. "That's right, baby. You’re doing so good for me." Jake’s hands moved to your waist, moving you up and down his cock. "M-Ma’Jake, ahh!" You cried out, each time he hit your center. You gripped onto his shoulders, nails digging into his skin. "S-so pretty," his words slurred. The once holy area, meant to connect with Ewya, was filled with the sound of your skin slapping together and the sounds he was ripping out of you.
Your cunt began to tighten, a sickly-sweet heat building inside of you. "P-please," you cried out. He slowed his thrusts, biting his lip hard "not yet, princess" he pulled you on top of him, his length filling you completely. "We’re gonna cum together." He rammed himself into you, hitting the spot inside that made your legs turn to jelly. Jake moaned, "s-good babe." He bounced you on his lap, admiring the way your breasts moved with each thrust. Jake slipped his fingers underneath you, rubbing at your clit. He continued whispering sweet nothings into your ear, praising you for how good you take him.
Jake gripped your hips, slowly lifting you off his cock and slamming you down again. The forest began spinning as you felt yourself nearing climax, the sweet agony building up inside you. "That’s it,” he hissed, "Cum with me, babygirl." You whimpered loudly, the coil in your stomach tightening. His words made your mind go blank, his finger began rubbing faster against your clit, and the heat in your core was nearing its breaking point. “Ah- Ah- Jake!” Your eyes rolled back into your head as the coil snapped, pleasure racked your body. Jake’s thrust became sloppy, until he buried himself deep inside you, “fuck, fuck, fuck.” He growled as he began filling you with his seed, your body collapsing on his. You laid there, tangled in each other's arms, as you slowly came down from the high.
His cock slipped out of you, cum dripping from your womb and down your thigh. Jake pressed a kiss to your temple, then another to your cheek, "my little princess," he grinned, "You should have told me how you felt sooner." Your entire body felt sore, yet you were completely at peace. Jake kissed you again, his tongue slipping into your mouth and making you melt. "I’m never leaving you alone again."

Seeing Jake was easy.
It was shirking clan chores in favour of being held in the safe cocoon of his capable arms on a lazy afternoon, the two of you splayed out on the forest floor as it welcomed you into its clutch, soft grass embracing you, gentle breeze lulling him to sleep. As he slumbers you trace his features gently, eyes first, then nose.
You coast over the worry line that creases just like that when he senses a formidable threat, like the rogue palulukan that strayed a little too close to camp the previous week (or the persistent Omatikaya child that insists on having you braid his hair exactly when Jake’s sat down for you to rebraid his, meaning a rushed job and less scalp scratches for him).
Cautious fingertips are guided by the smattering of tanhi that litter his face, a map provided by Eywa, tiny stars aligning to lead you to your final destination - your favourite destination – his lips.
Tumblr media
Being Seen by Jake was even easier.
- flashback -
Two weeks have passed since the fateful day your people reclaimed your ancestral home from the Sky People. The injured have been treated and deceased loved ones have been mourned and committed to Eywa. Now, the clan must celebrate.
Young ones chase after each other's tails (knowing the mood is good enough for them to escape chastisement from their parents), potential lovers dance around their feelings as they dance around the communal fire and elders thank the Great Mother for the privilege of witnessing another night like this – too many eclipses have passed since the clan could revel in shared joy like this.
The evening’s jubilations wind down as eclipse approaches, but the air is still charged with a sense of collective anticipation; you are yet to do what you do best. Gathered clan members form a blue sea, bioluminescent tanhi a mirror image of the stars in the skies above as they seat themselves on fallen logs.
Deep inhale, shoulders rolled back, head held high and gaze cast over young and old alike, you open your mouth and sing. Entranced, Jake looks up from where he was refilling his cup of pongu pongu (after falling victim to a particularly wily adolescent Na’vi bartering for the drink reserved for adults of the clan) and his amber gaze settles on you as he listens to the legend of a valiant Omatikaya warrior made song. His legend.
His song rolls off your tongue, volume ebbing and flowing like the waters of the Eastern Sea, reaching ‘ahhs’ and throaty ‘oohs’ conveying the highs and lows of his Pandoran alterlife. Sweeping peaks and troughs in the notes you belt out paint the picture in his mind of the mountains climbed and valleys traversed on his quest to find his humanity in a Na’vi body. Dulcet tones undulate from the soft pillows of your lips into the attentive ears of every clan member gathered around the fire, demanding the rapt attention of all that can and will listen.
Your voice betrays you, wavering slightly when you make sudden eye contact with Jake. He gawks at you unashamedly, his expression reminding you of the awe and excitement of a child watching kenten unfurl their luminous fans for the first time. Inwardly, you curse the power that this vrrtep has over you; you never get distracted! No doubt Ninat would be teasing you about this mishap til Eywa calls you home. That skxawng always liked to argue that she’s the better vocalist.
Final note lingering in the air and resonating in the hearts of those around you, you graciously accept the compliments offered. Soon after, you make a swift break for your marui, unaware of your newly acquired shadow following after your hurried steps as if still woefully caught in the spell your voice had cast upon him.
You flit about the marui, humming under your breath as you search for the herb and nectar concoction Tsahik gave you after overhearing you complaining to Neytiri about putting your vocal cords under too much pressure. An appreciative hum leaves your parted lips as the mixture soothes your throat, before a male, gravelly and obnoxious “Ah, shit!” cuts through your minute of peace, followed by the clang of a pot falling.
A stunned squeak escapes you before you have the chance to stop it, eyes widening as your ears fold back and your brow muscles raise in shock before furrowing in confusion. A moment passes.
You slowly crane your neck to look behind you, chancing a glance at whatever, whoever it is that managed to sneak into your marui and elicit such an embarrassing reaction from you. The fallen pot is still rattling on the floor as you lock eyes with the perpetrator and your upper lip raises into a sneer. Of course, you think to yourself, as if the vrrtep has not bothered me enough tonight he has come back for more!
“Oel ngati kameie,” Jake greets awkwardly, eyes shifting between your defensive posture and the offensive pot that he had tripped over in his dazed stupor. He brings his fingertips to his forehead before extending them towards you in a gesture of respect, and for a moment you are pulled from your derisive train of thoughts as your eyes follow the raised veins on his hands and you feel an unfamiliar feeling flutter in the pit of your stomach – much like the kindling of a new flame. Your examination of his anatomy comes to an abrupt stop when your eyes hone in on his outstretched fingers. Four fingers. Alien fingers.
“What is it that you want?” You throw the words at him, eyeing him up and down in an admittedly pathetic attempt to intimidate him. You are well aware of his prowess as a warrior; you’d only spent the latter part of the evening waxing poetic about it. Despite this, you cannot help but feel as if you must prove yourself to be a formidable threat to him, to this man who was once a tawtute imposter in a Na’vi body and has now made himself an imposter in your home.
He inches towards you cautiously, arms outstretched by his sides and palms open, intending to  communicate his lack of malintention as he clears his throat and opens his mouth to answer you. Your eyes remain vigilant, ears pointing up, alert and awaiting his response. A series of unintelligible noises is all you hear, his mouth opening and closing in such a stupid way that you almost find it endearing. Almost.
Further incensed by the lack of answer, you jerk your head towards him, tail lashing behind you, impatient, “What is it then? Speak!” You begin to pace in front of him, agitated and expectant of an explanation. “Or do you only know how to stare?”
As if jolted back to reality, Jake blinks blankly before retorting “Damn, you sound just as good when you talk, pretty girl”. Astounded, your pacing comes to a halt, allowing you to baulk at his insolence – there is a notable pause as you compose yourself once more. His lips pull back into a self-satisfied smirk as he greedily absorbs your reaction, and there is a dangerous glint in his eyes, eyes too small to belong to a native Na’vi, that calls to you. You decline the call decisively.
“You still have not answered my question, Jakesully,” you attempt to regain control of this odd interaction, remaining firm in your affronted demeanour. “Speak!”
He lets out a huff of laughter under his breath, made bashful by the reminder of his inexplicable attraction towards you. “Well…I guess I heard ya singin’ out there and I-” he shakes his head, looks down and brushes a hand over his face, lips puckering to blow a gentle whoosh of air as he exhales. You feel his breath waft over your face and refuse to register the way it stokes the flame within you.
“I knew I gotta tell ya that you sound amazing, heavenly, even, unlike anything I’ve ever hea-” his reverent rambling is cut short by your cackle that pierces his ears that had perked up in delight while he sang your praises. He looks up to observe you doubling over in sarcastic laughter and waits, confused as ever, for you to explain yourself.
“Skxawng,” you rebuke, “do not insult my intelligence by suggesting you understood a single word other than your name. Neytiri has told me of your incompetence,” you lower your voice and let the venom seep into your tone, “Jakesully.”
He meets your narrowed eyes with a challenge in his stare, his right eyebrow, yet another tawtute feature, quirking up. “You’re wrong y’know,” he tilts his head to the right and nods as if still contemplating your rude interjection. In spite of his shock, he does not appear deterred in any way and for a moment you fear that your attempt at resistance is futile. Perhaps you have grossly underestimated his proficiency at your native language and have embarrassed yourself.
He continues, “I understood you calling me a skxawng just now.” A cheeky smile creeps onto his face as he basks in his ability to rile you up. “But I figure that might as well be my name with how many times Neytiri’s called me that”.
Insistent on finding a fault in his words, you give him an incredulous look and respond, “Now you dare to criticise the tsakarem?” A disbelieving scoff leaves your lips. “Impertinence!” Your words, however, do not have their desired effect as he remains unbothered by your jabs, seeing through them completely.
“C’mon pretty girl,” Jake tries to reason with you, “y’know that’s not what I meant.” Encouraged by the involuntary huff of defeat that leaves your body that has grown weary from the night’s activities and this back and forth that is honestly fraying your nerves, Jake perseveres with the determination of the Marine that he is. “Now stop deflecting ‘nd take the compliment.” You relent, albeit reluctantly. “Call me crazy but the way you sang out there…it felt like I knew exactly what you were sayin’, even with my thick Jarhead skull.”
He takes a breath before more words tumble out of his mouth. “I know you were singin’ about me. I never thought I would mean enough to the Omatikaya people for someone to write a song about me.” He surprises you by laughing self-deprecatingly – in the short time you have interacted with him you have become used to his natural bravado. “I never thought I would be enough for anyone to write a song about me.”
Jake wants to tell you more. He yearns to speak of the cosmic force, the pull he felt towards you the moment he heard your voice for the first time. The pull he feels tugging at his heartstrings now, plucking away at them, composing a tune to accompany the siren song of your voice. For a moment he thinks he might just really believe this Eywa shit now.
But he doesn’t tell you. For once in his life he holds back. Instead, he moves even closer to you, every inch of his eight foot figure towering over you as he encroaches on your personal space. Your eyes widen, pupils dilating as you take him in. All of him.
Spurred on by your favourable change in expression, Jake reaches forward to place a warm hand on the snug of your neck. His other hand’s forefinger and thumb frame your dazed face as he caresses your cheek with a reverential tenderness you would have never attributed to him. He shifts his grip down to your chin and tilts your face upwards, so that eye meets eye.
As your steely resolve weakens into something soft, something pliable, you are rendered boneless against your own will, putty in his hands – carbon fiber-reinforced bones be damned. He is held captive by the unexpected, soft trill of your laughter, spirited away by the light breeze that has entered like the melody of a windchime. Eyes of molten gold bore into your soul and he sees you. He Sees you.
- end of flashback -
Tumblr media
Seeing Toruk Makto, however, was anything but easy.
You smile to yourself as you recount how you and Jake met, but are quickly sobered by the realisation that no other clan member would even fathom speaking to Jake so disrespectfully – speaking to Toruk Makto so disrespectfully. And so you are forced to confront the reason why you could not stand the man, even if he ensured your clan’s survival by bringing an end to The Great Sorrow.
You fiddle with the purple tassels of your breast covering, made up of the fallen strands of a tawtsngal plant that you had painstakingly braided to be in likeness to the whispering tendrils of the Utraya Mokri. The Tree of Voices.
To the ignorant tawtute that threatened to populate your beloved Eywa’eveng like pests it was simply one of the many flux vortex hubs that rendered their alien inventions useless, stripping them of their ill-perceived superiority and reminding them that they do not belong here. But to you, it was an awe-inspiring wonder that was the source of many a song composed by you and crooned into the ear of a fussy baby, sung to soothe an ill elder or belted out to relay the ballad of a beloved fallen warrior.
With the stories whispered in your ears by the ancestors, you weave the tapestry of the clan in song form. It is for this reason that Jake had taken to affectionately calling you ‘parrot’, explaining to you that they were birds that once lived on Earth and repeated what was said by others.
Your garment was not only of totemic value, symbolising your role in the clan as an esteemed singer, but was also a love letter to the sacred place that birthed your passion for the art of song - and in doing so established your roots in the intricate network of the clan.
If only you had known of what was to come, you lament. That a day would come when the very roots of the tree that planted you firmly within the clan would be so easily uprooted by the wretched Sky People and their demon machines. On that day, you felt as if your place in the clan was uprooted with it; you had lost your communication channel with the ancestors, and therefore your muse.
You sit up and detach Jake’s arm, limp with sleep, from your waist. As you look upon his face you try to reconcile all the affection he has extended to you with the fact that he once was a Sky Person, working for their destructive cause.
Before you can stop it, the familiar feeling of resentment stirs within your belly as you question why the Great Mother would choose to allow  your life’s joy to be so mercilessly taken from you and yet bestow the revered title of Toruk Makto on such a man as Jake.
How could she turn her back on you? Strip your pride from you? Replace you with a man born not of Na’vi, but of the immoral tawtute? You cannot help but feel that Jake is more Omatikaya than you ever will be now, as you think of what you long to be.
His mate.
Mate to Toruk Makto, rider of last shadow, yet unworthy to stand with him, even in his shadow. The honour of being under this dark, ominous, yet protective shroud was reserved for a select few - the chosen ones. Proven warriors who have sacrificed their lives, their existence on this terrestrial plane for Toruk Makto, like Tsu’tey, or dutiful daughters who have overcome prejudices born from murder for Toruk Makto, like Neytiri. Not for glorified parrots. Not for you.
You heave a gentle sigh, banishing those thoughts with a soft shake of your head and rest your head back on Jake’s shoulder. Tense shoulders loosen as you shuffle back into the warm comfort of his body. Your finger begins tracing again, up, up, up his arm before a tentative hand opens up to grasp one of his larger ones.
Curious eyes explore the network of veins that branch out along his hand like the roots of a tree, like the roots of the Utraya Mokri. You feel the heat rush to your cheeks as you reminisce the first time you had been in such proximity to the veins on his hand and the feelings they aroused in you back then.
Perhaps, you muse, you could find solace in him the same way you once did in your sacred trees. You lean in, pursed lips relaxing to place a tender kiss on each of Jake's fingers, all four of them. The same fingers that once instilled a deep rage within you. The same fingers that held you with a love that can only be Eywa-given. The same fingers used to tame the mighty Toruk. A part of you, no matter how distant or small, knows that in these capable hands you can rest easy.
So yes, your struggle to See Toruk Makto may yet prevail, but Jake? Jake you would always See. It is with this conclusion that your hold on his arm slackens, and half-lidded eyes flutter close. You slot yourself into the space within his body that is made for you. Two bodies mould into one. Little spoon into big spoon.

Perfect [Neteyam]
✎⁾⁾⁾ note: reader is an albino omatikaya & neteyam is probably OOC
@tiddieshakeshownu, I hope you enjoy :)
Overview
Being born different, things don't go so smoothly for you
("Outcast is all they see" frfr)
So you learned to stay in the shadows
But Neteyam always finds you
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
You were born different.
Your skin–a pale baby blue, void of the rich pigment forest Na’vi usually had. It burned easily, too; you couldn’t stay beneath the blazing sun. “Useless,” the hunters would say. Useless.
Your hair–white as snow, that shines smoothly beneath any light. Children would flock around to touch it–some in awe, most in mockery. A few were mean enough to pull it, calling you, “Skxawng! Skxawng!” over and over and over.
Your eyes–an icy blue, from the lack of pigment. Like your skin the sun was their enemy, its bright rays nearly blinding you. And, unsurprisingly, they cursed you with clumsiness during your early years. Tripping over roots and gripping onto branches for dear life you were, often the source of other childrens’ amusement.
One day, you returned home shaking, biting tears at bay; you were a hair's breadth away from the snapping sharp maws of nantang, after all! That wasn’t even the worst part; the other children set you up. Their jeering, high-pitched laughter still rang in your ears, no matter how hard you tried to drown them out. How you would’ve loved to jump into mother’s arms, to tell her just how cruel your own people were. How you would’ve loved to tell father about those scary-looking wolves, cornering you between a dark rocky crevice.
Sadly, that wasn’t so.
As you scaled the Hometree you heard hushed whispers; among them was your mother’s.
“Will (Y/N) ever be able to ride an ikran?”
Then your father’s. “...fragile…don’t know…”
Fragile.
Something burned deep in the pit of your stomach and you wretched, but nothing came out.
Tumblr media
Night was your only option. No sun to blister your skin. No one to push you off the edge. Only at night could you forget everything else and focus on the beautiful world that was so cruel during the day. It was dangerous, sure, but you fared better. Limb by limb, meter by meter, you soared across winding branches and leaped across slippery slopes, paying no mind to the soft looming shadows of night.
Eywa always lit a path for you. Always.
Long ago, a seed sprouted in your heart and it grew and grew and grew until its thick roots spread so much that your heart cracked and splintered and shattered. Those fragile broken pieces you stowed away in a box, somewhere no one could find–somewhere no light would shine. When no one was around, you glued those pieces back together, slowly and painstakingly, one by one, under the Pandoran night. No one should be able to find you deep in the forest, mending your broken heart–should.
“Neteyam?” you whispered. Your eyes blew wide; how did he know where you were at this ungodly hour? A moss patch, glowing blue-green, winded out and away from under his feet.
“Sorry,” he apologized sheepishly. “I didn’t mean to scare you.”
Hard cold ice encased your heart. You quickly shoved your broken pieces back into their shabby box and faced Neteyam with a cold, doubtful gaze. “Do you want something?”
Now it was his turn to be surprised–baffled, even.
“What…?” he spluttered. He was growing nervous, you could tell. His heart was thrumming. “I…was just wandering around and found you here…so I was wondering what you were doing.”
Not really convincing, was it? He was lying, probably. But it wasn’t so; Neteyam opened your eyes to so many things.
Pandora was beautiful at night. Everything glowed so prettily; even the animals came out to play. You giggled softly to yourself as you saw a bunch of kenten spin around and around, disk-wings unfurling like glowing umbrellas. A pack of nantang pups scampered along the ground, lighting up bright patches of moss in the wake of their paws and you smiled, hearing them yip around. Every night Neteyam chuckled beside you, his laughter spreading from his lips to your lips, and you didn’t feel so lonely anymore.
Tumblr media
“Go, leave. Now.”
Neteyam was always there, somehow, when you were in trouble. He’d bare his teeth at those mean kids and afterwards, he’d take you on fun little shady adventures under big ferns and tall trees to cheer you up, and before you knew it, you were smiling–smiling!–and Neteyam would be grinning, too.
You gushed to your parents about a handsome boy who was so kind and caring and wonderful, and Neteyam, too, quietly told his parents about a beautiful Na’vi who had shimmering silk for hair and pretty skin like the skies.
He couldn’t understand why you called yourself a freak; it shattered his heart when you did.

“Sometimes I wish I was born different.”
One particular night the moon shone so beautifully, so radiantly. Everything seemed to glow just a little brighter, just a little more prettier. It was so serene tonight, but it wasn’t so, and you blamed yourself for this. Your soft sniffles carried through the wind and into Neteyam’s ears, and he bounded to you in an instant. His markings glowed a pearly white-blue under the night, and you smiled weakly, seeing the boy in all his beauty. He was skilled and handsome and kind and sweet; why was he rushing to comfort you?
“Don’t cry.” He hushed you with such sweetness that your heart melted into something gooey and warm–it scared you. Then with his thumb he gently swiped the hot tears streaming down your cheeks, never minding how wet his hands got. You nearly flinched; why so kind?
“Look,” he whispered, jabbing a finger to his chest, yellow eyes all wide and silly and desperate–oh how he hated to see you cry. “You might not see it, but I’m different, too–part demon, some assholes say.” He paused, biting his lip to suppress a hopeful grin. “We can be different together.”
A sliver of a smile creeped up your lips. Different. Together.
Then Neteyam murmured in that hushed-excited whisper, “Here, come closer,” and held out his arms to beckon you into a hug. Timidly and shamefully you scooted a little forward, wiping furiously at your eyes.
“Look at me. Please?” He wanted so badly to tell you how stunning your eyes were, how pretty your smile was. He wanted to give his eyes to you, just so you could see how radiant you truly were–but now wasn’t the time, he could tell.
So he gently bumped foreheads with you, closing his eyes. You closed yours, too. Then slowly, timidly, his hands oh so softly cupped your face as if he were telling you, “Stay, don’t go.” As more tears stung your eyes you rested your shaky hands atop his larger ones, feeling his warmth spreading to your fingers. It was just him and you now, glowing under the moonlight; you thought you could feel his breath on your lips.
“I see you,” he murmured softly. “Perfect.”
