So'lek saying that seeing his clan butchered and being one of the last of his clan left to survive was his lesson about learning the RDA ways (or more specifically how to use their weaponry) is incredibly profound and honestly inspiring when you interpret it a certain way.
I dont directly relate ofc, bc I'm not a warrior, nor the last of my clan lol, but as a woman of African descent living in the Amerikan diaspora, this rlly hit bc it true that seeing what your oppressors do to your people to keep us repressed and dying will teach you more about them and their ways than anything. Its why history revisionism is such a potent poison for oppressed peoples.
Teylan mentioned how John Mercer taught the residential school Na'vi that Eywa was wicked and deceitful and shouldnt trust her, and of course we learned that he made sure to teach that their Na'vi ancestors are savage and relentless. Such teaching genuinely inspired fear and distrust of their own home and peoples.
I take So'lek's line as an important reminder to stay woke, esp since the actions of white supremacists, imperialists, misogynists, and other bigots, like those that fill the RDA, speak louder than the words of their lies!!!!
