Attempting to do Stricklake month! Here is my first offering, with the theme Utopia.

Utopia: an imagined state of things in which everything is perfect.

I feel like Barbara and Strickler would imagine everything being perfect with Strickler in a human form. Walter seemed to be more comfy in human form for a while there, and while Barbara and him definitely adjusted their definition of perfect as their love grew I feel like around the eclipse event the perfect state of things would be having a NORMAL wedding. Human to human, just two sweethearts in love.

So I drew this trying to show the imagined utopia vs the reality around the edges. my composition skills are NOT all that great and some stuff doesn’t really make sense, but I am overall satisfied. I gave up on making a background but I think in future ones I will put more time in! Maybe i will even color lines…

i made Barbara kinda battlescarred in the reality because I was timeslotting this around the big fight

Week 2 /Royal AU

While drawing it I couldn't stop myself from thinking about dynamic relationship between princess and gargoyle or some another gentle beast who protects castle from invaders (hello gargoyles series 1994's fandom)

At the first time lady Barbara would be a bit afraid of mysterious creature that protects her castle at night, but she is brave woman and she should be grateful to her heroes. So she started getting closer to Walter - you know, she turns out to be extremely curious about his nature; for Stricker it is very unusual experience to connect with a human (very pretty one by the word!)

Week one of keenswimmers2023

Prompt: Dystopia/Utopia.

I personally decided to do Dystopia and I know I am late but I can explain-

No actually I can't...dosen't matter, It's there.

I uhm decided to do a world were Gunmar broke free in season one and actually killed Jim. Strickler obviously was shocked but we all know that season one him is a ...well...kind of a dick, wich means he "got over it"...until he realized how fucked up this actually is.

He did keep his promise tho, he protects Barbara. He eventually tells her that he is a changeling but he bends the truth how he needs it to be. Strickler leaves Gunmar after finding out that he will kill every human and he decided (after veeeeery looooong thoughts) that Barbara is more worth than his selfish plans.

Barb would eventually find out the truth after Strickler left Gunmar for her and he tries to survive or at least he is trying to keep her alive. Barb can't forgive him. She won’t forgive him.

How does it end...? They both probably die...

...

Ohhh and did Strickler broke off one of his horns? Yes he did. Wanna know how? Gunmar did it after Strickler refused to tell him were he hides Barbara.

Barb's scars are easier to see but Walt tends to jump infront of her. He fights for her as long as his body works.

He gives her food and water as much as she needs and takes what's left or eats trash. He refuses to sleep, to watch over her. He holds himself awake as long as nessecary until his body can't take it.

What is Stricklake month? Stricklake month is a month-long event during August, with two prompts to choose from each week. Our prompts this year will be:

Week one of keenswimmers2023, Dystopia prompt:

Jim's reset of the timeline at the end of RoTT doesn't go well. The amulet is destroyed, Gunmar free and the town scattered amid ruins. But Strickler being set up with Barbara works.

Now, with the changeling having a change of heart and the truth out, Barbara and Walter have a much needed talk in private while scavenging for food. And amid desolation, hope, and love, blooms. After some misunderstandings are cleared up of course.

My entry for Stricklake month, week 2: Royalty/Guardian. I picked Guardian!

In this(taking place during season three of Trollhunters), Gunmar plans to use his Decimaar Blade to mind control Walter into fighting against Jim, and then kill Walter afterwards. Barbara uses her broom as a weapon to defend Walter with, but he decides to guard her from Gunmar by getting ready to transform into his winged troll form and fly off with her.

It took me a little while to figure out what I was doing, but here's my contribution to the Stricklake monthly challenge. Water and Fire.

And my apologies that the pictures are very dark. My game decided (I have seasons in my TS4 game) that it was good to have rain (and thunder, but there was no thunder or lightning at the moment) and it was also late evening/night, so the cloudy weather and downpour made it darker.

Keenswimmers23: Mysterious Stranger

Who was he?

Just a couple of days ago he was the neighborhood history teacher. Now, he was some sort of green, horned monster in her house saving her from another so-called ‘troll’. In addition to that, he was helping her son, who was some sort of troll fighter now.

When he had switched forms, it had shocked her. She never expected that there were other, magical, species that were alive, walking and breathing among her. Not to mention the fact that they lived underneath her town.

And now Walter was telling her all these things: “Be careful” Stay down here in the basement where it’s safe” “I’ll take care of it”

The man she thought she knew turned out to be a stranger, but Barbara was more intrigued than anything else.

Her curiosity was what drove her to do the exact thing that Walter told her not to do. Well, that and protecting her son.

Barbara grabbed the broom that was positioned beside her and went upstairs.

Entry 2 for #keenswimmers2023; i chose the theme “Guardian”.

While I have drawn Strickler plenty of times, and Barbara once or twice, this was my first time drawing Jim. As a passionate hater of drawing armor, I gave up on his legs entirely and covered them with the grunge border. Another eternal night drawing! Eclipse lighting just seemed like an interesting touch.

If you crop from Strickler’s elbows up, it looks like a cool cover image i think

I was thinking of doing something sad for the third keenswimmers2023 theme, BUT since I LOVE comedy and need to make it up to you for skipping the second theme (I've been too busy forgive me) here is the "stranger" theme with a role-play of this couple. (Yes I was watching Modern Family again and the idea came to me from there).

Week four of keenswimmers2023

Prompt: Water/Fire.

Yeah, yeah. I've heard your begging. No trauma this time-

Okay...maybe a just little bit-

Siren!Barb :D

Is that? Firetroll!Walter. (He also has a tail in this AU but I forgot to draw in)

AND WAIT! Is that-

MORE VERSIONS?! ahem. Yes.

I am completely broken-

This month ended me.

AnYwAys-

The AU:

So Walter stumbles across a Siren, at first she tries to put him under her spell to use him for her own gain. And it works, at first.

But due to him being a sort of fire-troll-changeling creature it dosen't work for long. He soon breaks from her spell as she tries to look deeper into his mind and he accidently burns her. (He can’t always control his powers)

She swims away, obviously scared. He tries to grab her, wanting to apologize but she is too fast.

After that he comes to that place every day to bring her flowers and she eventually comes to him again. They talk things out, apologize and start to fall in love. (But it's forbidden romance trope ;])

Now...close ups as always:

Sooo fun facts to this AU:

• Walter accidently burns things when he is veeeerrrrryyy emotional. He has a lot of power wich makes it hard to keep it cool. (You know...cool...because he has fire powers and-) He burns the flower because he is a bit flustered-

• Barb is some sort of Siren or Nymph. She needs to to spell people/creatures to get a certain "magic" from their soul. It's a need to survive. Ofc her kind often does it out of fun but she only does it for survival. It's basically a need, like food. After explaining it to Walter, he agrees to let her use it on him if she needs it. (Don't ask me how and why. Just accept it-)

• Basically their kinds aren’t allowed to talk to each other. They certainly don’t care but will get in much trouble because of it. And Jim exists. Yayyyy. He isn’t dead-

• The Trollhunter also exists in this world. Jim will be the Trollhunter and get the abilitie to walk on the earth due to ✨️magic✨️. Walter is still part of the "bad guys". They have a kind of magic war between the elements and humans. And yeah. UHM just accept it as It is. My brain is completely broken-
