Hello, I hope it’s fine to ask about shaggy transitions again! I don’t know if you already talked about it, but chapter 434 is the meeting between shanks and whitebeard. There’s a fragment where he asks about shank’s relationship with buggy. And in this moment there’s “we parted ways and that’s it.” “ haven’t heard about him ever since”. Maybe it’s just me but it always sounded to me like someone who tries to cut the conversation short. “I heard rumours” let’s go to the next part. Is it just my brain? How does it sound in Japanese? sorry i took so long on this one—i was sure i’d already done a breakdown of that panel and just couldn’t find the post, but it turns out no, the closest i’ve come before is this post about the verb wakareru (別れる) and a bit in the middle of this long post about the ‘i heard rumors’ sentence. so let’s tackle this one properly!
chapter 434, page 10
「船長の処刑の日 / ローグタウンで別れてそれっきりだ… / 風の噂でまだ海賊をやってると聞いた」
senchou no shokei no hi / roogutaun de wakarete sorekkiri da… / kaze no uwasa de mada kaizoku wo yatteru to kiita
“the day of the captain’s execution / at roguetown we parted ways for good… / i’ve heard rumors on the wind that he’s still a pirate.”
sorekkiri (or sorekiri) is a little tricky to translate concisely. sore means “that” or “then,” and kiri comes from the verb kiru (切る), to cut. (some of zoro’s attacks have this kiri or giri in their name.) so sorekiri means “cut off at that point” or “ending at that time.”
shanks’ use of sorekkiri seems to emphasize that he hasn’t seen buggy since they went separate ways in roguetown. now, could he also be using it as a way to hint that whitebeard should change the subject? maybe.
remember the context of this conversation: shanks has been trying to tell whitebeard about his concerns re: blackbeard for… a while. (rockstar first appeared in chapter 234 with a letter for whitebeard from shanks; that was pre-skypiea, and ch 434 is post-enies lobby.) he finally has the opportunity to talk to whitebeard, and here whitebeard is getting nostalgic for the old days. shanks gives a two-sentence answer about buggy’s whereabouts, a one-sentence explanation for his missing arm, and then he moves on to the topic he’s actually here to discuss.
so, whether it’s because shanks really doesn’t want to discuss buggy or because he really needs to discuss blackbeard, i do think shanks was eager to move the conversation along. i don’t know that we can be certain which was his primary motive… though i will direct you to goingbuggy’s theory about shanks’ scars being hidden by speech bubbles when he’s feeling vulnerable, which has only happened twice in the course of the series, one of those times being on this page.

Okay so uh FFU - Mafia Au has started to Brain Rot-
"Chaos" is nothing more then the Alias gone by the big crime lord/boss that all the other groups answer too and basically has slowly been trying to ever grow his reach and influence.
Kumo is a from a fairly well to do family, Parents have some form of political sway and probably one of a few that aren't tied to / being paid off by other was have connections with Mafia/crime group ect
Although many have tried.
Included that which is run by the Earl, one day Chaos himself puts in an order realizing they'll never get through with the adults they decide to target their kids.
First going after Kiri, headstrong and stubborn he's not easily swayed and dares to refuse. Unfortunately in basically a means to send a message Kiri is gravely wounded,
This both upsets and infuriates Kumo- and is just what the Earl (and Chaos needs)
Through so means be it info given so he can find them or through his own means regardless Kumo goes to them and in the end they strike a deal.
He will work for them, do what ever they need even kill but in exchange the Mafia will leave his family alone- should he ever show any sign that he's going to turn against them or any such thing they make it clear Kiri will be the first to get killed he also can not tell them any of this which leads to tension between Kiri and Kumo as Kiri believes his own sweet, dear brother has now joined this crime group, the very same group who hurt him.
While working for the Earl he gains the alias of Makenshi of course

Now on the opposite side is Kaze, he's grown up in a rough part of town / slums kinda area all his life, at young age his parents were killed and was basically raised by his sister / friend of the family basically someone else.
He learned at a young age how to use a gun and is quite adept at it - and has acquired a fair arsenal over the years. He's also missing his right hand- no one really knows what happened and he's never given a straight answer changing it up every time.
The first time Kaze and Kumo cross paths was when he was sent on a job to kill a young woman- owing like an unpaid debt or something. Unfortunately that young woman/girl was also Kaze's childhood best friend (whomst he'd also potentially be gaining some growing romantic affections for)
Furious Kaze of course now has basically promised that he will kill Kumo one of these days.
(At some point however they'd come to learn how they've both been fucked over by Chaos and the Earl and start quietly in secret trying to find a way to put an end to all of this)

Well, it is release day. What better way to celebrate than to post a new translation?
This song is the final song of Op. 3. Even before the announcement of Op. 4, I already felt it hinting heavily at what may happen in Op. 4, what this song refers to as “the fateful night”. And what I’ve assumed it to be is the night when Milverton gets William and Sherlock to face each other for the first time as Lord of Crime and Detective. OOF. Just imagining how that scene could play out in Op. 4 sends chills up my spine.
This song has a few references to previous songs that I want to highlight. But I’ll do that under the translation. Enjoy!

References:
1) I hope / I will - This reference is probs very obvious to anyone who’s heard of the final song in Op 2. It hits me hard that this reference doesn’t come up until the final song. In Op 2, William and Sherlock sing “I hope” and “I will” respectively, separately. The verbs reflect their expectations in their upcoming future: William hopes Sherlock will catch him. Sherlock is determined that he will catch William. Here, they both have “hopes” and “wills”. I’ll leave it to you to see how different they seem to be from each other.
2) 風邪が吹く / Kaze ga fuku / The wind blows - This is a recurring reference in Op 3, as will be revealed in future translations (namely, Kodoku no heya ni and Kokoro wo daite). In Kodoku no heya ni, William refers to Sherlock’s existence in his life as a wind that gently blows onto his cheek. A soft presence that comforts him. Which makes me wonder, if in this song, both sherliam sing this line, does Sherlock also think William is a wind that blows for him?? Who knows.

1. japanese breakfast – paprika. every time i hear 'i opened the floodgates and found no water, no current, no river, no rush' i feel some indescribable emotion and also so so peaceful
2. half alive – creature. first 4-5 times i listened to this song i completely missed religious undertones and thought it was about an act of self exploration and self creation. trans anthem if you will. i still see it like that idc that it was about jesus originally. yeah good song. i sure am a creature
3. fujii kaze – kiri ga naikara. the name means 'because it's endless' and it really is. you can literally put it on loop for hours and float away. 10/10 recommend
4. fiona apple – under the table. song for when you're at a family function. or forced to deal with stupid people in general. i listen to it not to implode in irritation and rage. almost always helps
5. bibi – jotto. i just like this one. it's neat.
