*Warnings?: Fear/small angst later in story, but really nothing else! Mostly cute funny fluff. Maybe a few threats thrown in.
Summary: Karl and Emelia are bored out of their minds with a mutually agreed break time for both of them, until Karl has an idea.
But it won't end the way they think it will.
It was relatively quiet on the surface, rain falling gently against the windows as the sky remained dark. It had been raining for the past day or so, and neither factory occupant felt the desire to do much of anything. Emelia kept her head on a table, doodling what she could on a random scrap paper as Heisenberg chewed on a pen cap and fiddled with small metal pieces with more floating lazily around him. It had admittedly been a while since either of them had taken a break, and while it was much needed and agreed upon, the boredom was nearly incapacitating.
Emelia only looked up as a small bolt floated near her, realizing quickly that many other small scraps floated around the small surface workshop he had. But she focused on the bolt, laying her head down on her arm and setting the pencil down. She reached up, gingerly tapping the bolt as it floated closer. The touch sent it backwards a bit, but she raised a brow as it returned back infront of her. She glanced over at Heisenberg, watching him pluck a seemingly random piece out of the air to add to the small random sculpture he was focused on. She returned her gaze to the bolt, watching as it 'danced' around her. She tapped it again, a small smile appearing on her face as it spun from the movement. She kept her hand up this time, starting to move her finger in a circular motion. The bolt followed slowly, moving around her hand as she moved, almost as if she were controlling it herself.
She paused as the bolt suddenly froze in midair, flipping to be upright before spinning in place. It remained that way for a few moments before suddenly dropping onto the table infront of her. She lifted her head as it bounced slightly, turning to meet his eyes as he glanced up at her from the sculpture. Though he still worked with it in his hands, an amused smile graced his lips as he watched her pick up the bolt. She chuckled.
"I was having fun with that..." she joked, turning it over in her fingers to inspect it.
"Hm." He gave a thoughtful hum, pausing his work. "What if I needed it?"
"Then I'd find another piece." She replied simply, opening her hand as she felt a small tug from the bolt itself. It began to float again, circling her before returning to it's place around him. He smiled, making a few pieces go to her.
"Take your pick, then." He joked.
"Not much else to do anyway, I suppose." She snorted, genuinely looking at the pieces around her. She reached up to tap one, glancing at him as he shrugged and looked out the window.
The rain had only gotten harder again, leaving streaks and patterns along the glass as it fell in small cascades. It wasn't a thunderstorm, but it looked like it could have been... Easily, at that. Or it would be soon, at least. Heisenberg then tilted his head almost thoughtfully.
"We could go outside..." he suggested. Emelia stared at him.
"... Its raining." She said, her voice a near deadpan. He shrugged again.
"And?"
"And, I don't want to get wet."
"Who said you'd get wet??" He asked, looking at her again. "Pop a cover over you and you'd be fine."
She rolled her eye, but finally stood up with a stretch.
"Fine then." She said, casually walking by him as he kept his eyes on her with amused interest. "As long as it gives me something to do."
"It might..." he said, setting the small sculpture item to the side and standing, himself. "Personally I'm taking bets on how long you'll last even with a covering."
"Bets with WHO??"
"With the voices my head, Doll." He snorted, giving a joking smirk as he tapped his head. "You don't like going outside anyway, I'm betting you won't stay long."
She narrowed her eye slightly before giving a huff.
"Then I'll prove you and those little voices wrong."
"Ah, fighting words."
"It's only a fight if you want one."
"We'll see." He smirked.
She simply stuck her tongue out at him, somewhat amused as he did the same before making her way out of the room.
-
It was pouring.
Absolutely, positively pouring.
It was worse now that they stared directly into the weather instead of through a window.
Emelia had, of course, grabbed the tighter eyepatch used for more 'uncontrollable' temperatures, though she stood at the open doors of the shed, wondering if it would even work. Heisenberg stood next to her, hands on his hips in a simple moment of 'well shit' while chewing the inside of his cheek. He clicked his tongue lightly after a few moments.
"You first." He said casually, looking out to the small field that led to the thick fences around the building. She didn't move, only glancing over with a disbelieving snort.
"You're bloody insane." She said simply, and he shrugged.
"Just a bit." Came the joking reply, but he sighed as she glared at him. "Alright, alright... Fine."
He still didn't move for a few seconds before she reached over with a huff, suddenly shoving him forward into the rain. He nearly tripped, letting out a surprised grunt before catching himself. Less than a second was what it took for a metal sheet to suddenly fly over his head, and he looked back to glare at her as she started to laugh.
"You think that's funny?" He growled, and Emelia shrugged.
"Yes, actually." She said simply, quickly hopping the threshold and under the metal with him.
While he have an unamused grunt, she couldn't help but look up. The sound of the rain on the metal was... soothing, almost. Yeah, she was a bit cold, but focusing on the noise made it at least somewhat bearable. Even she had to admit she enjoyed the rain itself, at least a little bit...
She didn't see as he glanced over at her, nor did she notice the edges of the metal curling up just slightly.
"Told you it wasn't that bad." He chuckled, and she rolled her eye.
"That's because I'm not IN the rain."
"No, but wasn't that the point?"
"YOU were the one who put this up." She pointed to the metal sheet, and he couldn't help but chuckle.
"Well, if you hadn't PUSHED me, I could have gone out normally." He started, twitching his finger to slowly start moving the metal above them. She only glanced up as it moved more over her, a mild suspicion in her gaze.
"... What are you doing..." she asked slowly. He shrugged.
"Well, you didn't wanna get wet, didn't you?" He asked, now taking a few steps back. Her eye narrowed.
"I'm not entirely stupid, you know." She said, crossing her arms. He shrugged, but suddenly gave an evil smirk.
"Well, no, but you're not always the most observant when it comes to large spaces..." He said, suddenly backing to the very corner of the metal.
Emelia opened her mouth to speak, though was suddenly halted with a low, metallic groaning. Her gaze fell to his hands, watching his fingers twitch ever so slightly as his smirk grew. What the fuck-
"What the bloody hell are you-"
She wasn't able to finish.
A loud, tearing *POP* was heard, and a split second was all she had before water came down on her head. She let out a surprised scream as the sudden wash of cold, her now wet hair being forced into her face as her clothes were instantly soaked. Heisenbergs roaring laughter suddenly rang out into the air, the man struggling to stay upright as she stared forward in soaked shock.
"You look like a fucking wet cat!!!" He managed, needing to lean forward against his thighs to stay upright.
She was pissed.
One glance up told her all she needed to know- a hole had been 'torn' in the center of the metal sheet, the edges of which he had curved slightly to make almost like a bowl. With the heavy rain, which now covered her from said hole, the sheet was filled pretty instantly, and he used how own power to 'tear' the thing. A slow rage bubbled in her chest as he continued his laughter from her realization, and she bared her teeth.
"You..." she started, glaring at him as he damn near wiped tears from his eyes. "You bloody IDIOT!!!!!"
Her yell didn't fall upon deaf ears- in fact, it made him laugh even harder. He only looked up as he heard wet footsteps, nearly jumping out of his own skin as she took a swing. But he dodged quickly, side-stepping to avoid her, and watching as she promptly landed along a mud patch and slipped.
His laughter sounded again as she hit the ground and rolled slightly, even harder this time. Even the metal sheet above him wavered, though it didn't last long as she swung her leg with a snarl and caught him behind the knees. His laughter was abruptly cut off with a surprised yell, landing in the mud next to her. The metal sheet fell with him, landing in a puddle before he could realize it had dropped. The resulting splash hit them both, each yelling before going silent. Now neither was covered, the rain soaking them further.
Emelia growled.
Heisenberg looked over at her, mildly stunned by the water before jumping as she lunged for him. She grabbed his shoulders, forcing him back into the mud as she quickly went over him.
"WHAT THE BLOODY FUCK WAS THAT FOR?!" she yelled, though he smirked again.
"Oh come on, Doll, you're never THIS angry when you're wet-" he started, narrowly avoiding a fist as it landed in the ground next to his head. But he kept his smirk. "Where's your sense of fun?"
"My sense of-" she started, only to let out another yelp as he suddenly twisted over, using his legs to flip them. Suddenly SHE was against the ground, her arms pinned to her sides as he grinned over her.
"Now THIS is more like it." He joked, and she growled.
"Go FUCK yourself, Heisenberg!!!" She yelled, only to be met with more laughter.
"I would, but you're more fun-"
He was cut off once more as she shifted herself, forcing his arms back and shooting up into a sitting position. A surprised cry of pain came from his throat as her forehead connected with his, and he was forced back once more. She shook he read and stood up.
"You MUST stop thinking with only one bloody head, you daft metal idiot!!" She growled, though couldn't keep the mischievous smile off her face as he leaned up once more while rubbing his forehead.
"That fucking hurt!!" He shot back, managing to stand before lunging at her, himself.
She couldn't help her own laughter as she hopped out of the way, suddenly darting across the field. She heard him call out behind her, only turning to stick out her tongue.
"May as well see how well your leg works in the rain since we're here, Metalhead!" She taunted, reaching up to slick back her wet hair. He stared at her for a moment before snorting, a playful smile soon crossing his features.
"It works just well, thank you." He said, suddenly darting forward after her.
She turned on her heels right before he grabbed her, nearly making him slip before he simply started to chase her. Pieces of rusted scrap began to shift and move as she laughed, jumping over them and just barely landing without incident as they came towards her. She even managed to grab one in the air, using it to swing up and over Heisenberg as he passed under her, his heavy footfalls making him splash relatively hard into a decent puddle she had managed to avoid. He nearly skid to a stop in the water, opening his mouth to complain before she landed behind him, suddenly lurching forward. He let out a surprised and mildly pained grunt as her shoulder connected with his chest, sending him down into a deeper puddle-
But she didn't escape his grip.
He moved surprisingly too fast for her to comprehend in that very moment, grabbing her shoulders and yanking her down with him as he landed with a rather large splash. She let out a near screech as he instantly tossed her to the side with a cackle, landing on her back in the same puddle. She lay there in the water, stunned for a few moments before his own movement made her jerk away, narrowly avoiding his grip once more. Both scrambled to get up, and Emelia swiped her arm in the water as he reached for her. The splash hit him square in the face, and it was her turn to cackle as she slipped and slid to run once more.
"HEY!!!" He yelled, nearly falling back into the water with surprise.
Her cackles turned into an odd joyous laughter at the sound of his struggle, though was highly aware of heavy footsteps catching up shortly after. But it continued, even as he caught up. Even as he wrapped his arms around her waist. Even as it was interrupted with a squeal as he lifted her up with a triumphant laugh. Even as he spun her in the air and in his arms to face him, his breaths coming heavy as he laughed, himself. Her hold on him was tight even though she knew he wouldn't drop her, at least not on accident. She squirmed as he shoved his face into the base of her neck, his wet beard still tickling the skin until she grabbed his face to push him away.
Her laugher only died down slightly as she looked down at him, keeping hold of his jaw. He stopped moving as he returned the gaze, his eyes surprisingly bright in the semi darkness from the storm clouds above them, made only brighter by the genuine smile on his face. She couldn't help but let out a few stray giggles before she finally stopped, and her cheeks hurt from smiling. Even with the heavy rain. Even while covered in wet mud and loose grass. Even while mildly uncomfortable in her soaking and now heavy clothing, this was still... perfect. She could only describe it as perfect. She didn't understand why... Not entirely. He kept his eyes on her, searching her face for the answer to her sudden, calm silence. But he was only met with her smile, and he couldn't help but lower her just slightly in his arms. She followed along until their noses pressed together, and suddenly her lips brushed against his.
She couldn't have stopped it, even if she wanted to...
And honestly, she didn't want to.
The kiss was surprisingly gentle, much softer than the rain that continued to soak them to the bone. They made no sound, instead focusing on the feeling of eachother; her hands adjusted and held onto his jaw while he kept his arms around her in a careful embrace, one that didn't waver even as he slowly set her down. Even as her hands traveled from his jaw to the sides of his neck. Even as the kiss grew just slightly, letting him pull her as close as he could. She focused on the comfortable warmth he gave despite the soaked clothing, her ears drowning everything else out. Suddenly, she couldn't hear the rain. She couldn't hear the sound of falling metal pieces that he had initially lifted to catch her again if need be, or the soft rumbles of thunder finally in the distance. It all seemed muffled as her focus was then drawn entirely to his lips on hers, feeling his pulse from under her fingertips. Slow. Steady.
Calm.
It drew her in as much as it relaxed her, and suddenly it was all she COULD focus on. It was as if it were just them in a calm, peaceful void.
No rain.
No soaked clothes.
Only them.
Their breaths came heavy as they finally separated, though they didn't pull away completely. Their lips still brushed with water connecting them, utterly silent with the rain still falling around them. She kept her hands around his neck and shoulders, her fingers drifting to place a gentle hold to the back of his neck. He kept his own arms around her in a tight, yet gentle embrace as he looked at her. She stared back, the gold color burning bright against the pale yellow.
There was a feeling in her chest as she kept his gaze... It wasn't a new feeling, but it fluttered even more than usual. Even her Cadou was still, and it was a feeling that had concerned her when she first had it. But now... now she knew. She knew what that feeling was, and it both fascinated and scared the hell out of her. Looking at him now confirmed it, and she felt her heart beat out of her chest.
Fuck.
"Emmy?" He asked quietly, his look now that of slight concern. It was then that she noticed the small tears that had begun to swell despite the rain, and she cleared her throat.
"S-Sorry, I just..." she started, but finally offered a smile. "I'm fine."
"Are you s-"
She interrupted him with a quick kiss, though pulled away slowly.
"I'm fine." She nearly whispered. He was silent before smiling again, this time with a light chuckle.
"Whatever you say." He replied, holding her tighter with one arm as he reached up to tap her chin with the other.
Their lips brushed against eachother once more, though a sudden sound tore them away almost immediately-
Feathers.
The ruffle of wet feathers, causing them to look to the entrance of the factory field, the air around them suddenly going tense.
There, under one of the many abandoned old vehicles, was a jet black crow. It stared at them with a bright eye, the ground around it's feet warping with small, black tendrils that seemed to eat into it's flesh and feathers. Emelias eye widened as a shot of ice cold fear ran through her body, rendering her unable to move. Heisenberg was silent, almost instantly moving to put her behind him while also keeping his arm around her protectively.
"... Karl..." she whispered, her fear evident from the tone in her voice.
There was no movement from any of them before he finally spoke.
"Emelia, go inside." He said lowly, his voice commanding yet oddly gentle. She kept her eye on the bird, nearly shaking.
She didn't want to... She didn't want to leave him. Not after that. She didn't want to leave his arms... And she certainly didn't want to leave him alone out here with her. But she swallowed, hesitantly backing away from him. She felt as he gave a gentle reassuring squeeze to her arm before she finally turned. She damn near ran to the shed entrance, turning every few steps to look back and nearly slipping before the paused at the open doors.
He didn't move.
His body was rigid as he held a staredown with the mold animal, not moving even as it seemed to disappear. Emelia finally ran in, not stopping when she was under the roof. She instead ran all the way to the workshop, skipping steps and falling on the way down before bolting to and hopping down the grated hole in the floor. She almost stumbled as she landed, though boosted herself up and kept going. She nearly slipped a few times more through the hallways as she made her way to one of the many rooms deeper into the factory, forcing her way through a random door before slamming it shut behind her.
She couldn't breathe.
Hell, she could barely see as tears began to swell once more, and her back hit the wall with a *thump* before she slid down. She stared forward as her body began to shake, and she suddenly let out a choked sob. While the fear of the Woman seeing them still kept her on guard, her mind was quickly sifted to the feeling from before, focusing on it instead; the feeling she still felt despite having run in terror. The feeling she felt as she held her arm where he did in the protective grip that she felt so, so safe and used to. The feeling she DID have before, now that she thought about it more thoroughly. But after realizing it and thinking, she knew what this feeling was... She almost wanted to deny it. It was painful the more she thought about it, especially with the presence of the mold woman looming so close by. But she couldn't tell him... Not now. Especially not now... Probably not even any time soon, given the circumstances. She knew what it was, but she didn't know how to handle it... And she didn't know if he could, either. He could barely handle his own emotions, let alone hers, and she wasn't about to throw that on him for fear of pushing him away, which would have made it so, so much worse.
She knew what this accursed feeling was, and it scared her.
She loved him.
