pike (to hannah): i want you and monty on surveillance in case kane’s people try anything.
hannah: you think octavia’s coming?
pike: the way this place leaks? first sign of her, she becomes priority one. this insurgency ends tonight.
hannah: yes sir.
abby (to pike): tell me it’s not true.
pike: i’m sorry. i know how much you care about marcus, but-
abby: -even on the ark, we made exceptions for the people who benefitted our group. don’t think of them as criminals. think of them as an engineer, a soldier, a leader.
pike: your husband benefitted the group. did you argue against floating him?
abby: no. and it haunts me to this day.
pike: this wasn’t an easy decision, abby, but it is the right one.
abby: at least let me say goodbye.
pike: (sighs) of course. i’ll arrange it.

Wanheda - THE 100 REWRITE Chapter Twenty
[THE 100 MASTERLIST]
Previous Chapter / Next Chapter
Summary: Ever since Clarke walked away from camp Arkadia, Bellamy, Michelle and the others had been looking everywhere for her, but they would never find her until she was ready to be found. They started hearing about a certain Wanheda after running into a bunch of Grounders during a mapping run outside the compound and things went downhill from there.
Words: 7.5k
Warnings: The 100 season 3 spoilers (episode 1 “Wanheda - Part 1″ & episode 2 “Wanheda - Part 2″), violence, blood, grief, head trauma
Bellamy grunted and groaned as he traded punches with Lincoln. He fell to the ground and got back up, hitting the grounder in the chest. The two young men made a demonstration of combat under the eyes of the teenagers of the Ark. In the last months, they regularly practiced to fight, under the teaching of Lincoln. Months. Michelle sighed at the thought that it had been 3 months already since Clarke left Camp Jaha, now named Arkadia, and disappeared from their radar. She had no idea where her best friend had gone off to and had to wait for her to resurface and come back. Murphy was sometimes on her mind as well. She wondered if they found this utopia that was the city of light, but she doubted that. She only hoped he was alive, somewhere. Leaning against the wall, arms crossed, standing a little behind the group watching Lincoln and Bellamy, she snapped out of her thoughts and her eyes drifted over his bare chest, detailing the bulging muscles of his body. She couldn't believe she would ever find Bellamy so attractive and yet a few months ago they had started to get closer. Purely physical at first, she felt her feelings for him change and get stronger, and for some reason she didn't even understand, she found herself pushing him away and distancing herself from him. She also wondered sometimes if the girlfriend he now had was to make her jealous, and let's say it did. Even if she refused to admit it.
She watched Bellamy get thrown over Lincoln shoulder and onto the ground while he held his punch back. The demonstration was over. He straightened up and turned to the group. Bellamy was still lying on the ground, catching his breath before getting on his feet.
“He had me, but he was too aggressive.” The crowd chuckled and the grounder looked at his opponent. The latter was putting on his t-shirt. “Quitting so soon?”
“Mapping run. Sector 7.”
“Harper, let’s get this over with.” She threw a bag at Lincoln, and he caught it effortlessly.
“The Council wants you to have that.”
“I’m Trikru.” He grabbed a uniform from inside the bag. It was a uniform worn by guards on the Ark.
“A uniform doesn’t change that. This is our home now, Lincoln. We fought for it. Too many of our friends died for it. On the Ark, the uniform meant something different. Down here, it means what we make it mean. Together.” He declared, pointing at the piece of clothing in his hand. “My sister will understand that eventually.”
“Pair up and fight. Now.” Lincoln instructed before following Bellamy to the bench. As they obeyed and began to practice on their own, Michelle fixed her gaze on Bellamy waiting for his talk with Lincoln to end so they could leave the training room. She wasn't staying to practice today, at least not yet. After the incident at Mount Weather, Abby told her to avoid physical effort for the next few months or the drill wound in her femur would never heal properly and though she was annoyed by this constraint, she couldn't go against it, and it made her team up with Bellamy less anyway since she didn't go on missions outside the camp. After a minute, Bellamy walked toward her and looked at her nodding his head towards the door as she followed him outside. They could both feel the awkwardness between them when they were together. It was palpable. But both acted like they didn't took notice of it, preferring to behave as if there was nothing between them. Bellamy probably thought that was what she wanted him to do, and it wasn't, but she felt like she couldn't tell him that. Their relationship was most definitely too weird now.
They walked in silence to a door, glancing at each other from the corner of their eyes when the other wasn't looking. Bellamy knocked and opened the door. Kane was standing in front of a sector map he had drawn on a board and motioned for them to be quiet and come forward. Abby was sleeping on a couch not far from them.
“It’s the Chancellor’s first sleep in two days.” He said quietly.
“I’ll be quick, then. We’re going into Sector 7. I think we should arm the entire unit.”
“Permission granted. But the rules of engagement still apply. Nonlethal response.”
“Copy that.” He proceeded to walk back to the door and leave when Kane called him.
“Bellamy… There hasn’t been an attack since Mount Weather. It’s three months. Our people believe that this is real peace. Try not to screw that up.”
“Yes, sir.” He nodded with a tight smile and turned around. Michelle was about to follow suit with him as she was supposed to accompany him on this mapping run this time around. Her father gently grabbed her arm.
“What? I can still go right? My leg feels fine.”
“Be careful.” She nodded, giving him a reassuring smile, and jogged to catch up with Bellamy down the hallway. Hearing her footsteps behind him, he took a peek over his shoulder, slowing down his pace and walked with her to search out Monty for the mapping run. The latter was sitting at a table when they arrived.
“Monty, why aren’t you ready?” Bellamy asked.
“I am. He’s not.” He simply said, glancing behind him. Bellamy and Michelle followed his gaze and saw Jasper sprawled on the ground, passed out drunk under a table. The three of them walked towards him. “What should we do?”
“We should leave him this time.”
“He’s not getting better. Maya’s death broke him.” He continued, concerned for his best friend. Insisting that he needed this, Bellamy exhaled. They each took an arm to help her up and Michelle sighed quietly before walking after them. The two sat him down when a voice reached their ears. Michelle glanced towards where it rose from and saw Gina, Bellamy's girlfriend. She couldn’t help but cross her arms, rolling her eyes and looking away when she saw them kiss, turning her head the opposite direction. She didn’t even try to hide her annoyance in front of Monty. He was a friend she could trust, there was no point in pretending she didn’t feel anything seeing him with her. She felt that he was looking at her and avoided his gaze.
“What is it?”
“Nothing.” He shrugged and walked away. She jumped at the chance to go further from Bellamy and Gina and accompanied him, leaving Jasper dozing off against the car.
“If you follow me then it’s not ‘nothing’, Michelle.” He grabbed a bucket and began to fill it with water. “I don’t understand what’s up with you and Bellamy.”
“Well, I don’t know… It’s just— It’s nothing.” She glanced at the car. Bellamy was busy with a bag near the vehicle, talking with Raven and Nate. He met her gaze and she looked away. Monty nodded and walked back to Jasper, taking their peers by surprise when he threw the bucket of water in his face. Michelle was kind of sad. He was a good friend but if she had Clarke to talk to it would be very different. Maybe she wouldn’t even have pushed Bellamy away in the first place and things wouldn’t be like this. She couldn’t blame Bellamy though. She showed him she liked him and when it got more serious, she stepped away without warning. He had probably been hurt by her gesture, but she couldn't do anything about it now. It was too late. She had to focus on helping them until they finally found Clarke.
“I’m sorry, was that too cold?” Jasper looked up at him through his eyebrows and started screaming as he slammed him against a wall. The sudden anger that had driven him seemed to leave and he let go of Monty. Bellamy walked up to him and gave him a bulletproof vest.
“No gun for you. Not until you’re sober.”
“Don’t want one.” Before walking away, he mimed a military salute and slightly slapped Bellamy's face, making him turn his head in reflex. Michelle watched for a few seconds, her arms hanging down at her sides before she decided to walk over to get a bulletproof vest and a gun, passing Bellamy without a glance. When he was his back to her, she looked at him getting a kiss from Gina before leaving and the two young women exchanged looks as Michelle got in the back of the rover next to Bellamy, while Raven and Jasper sat at the front.
“She’s too good for you.” Raven taunted.
“Shut up.”
“Careful. Monty might melt her.” Monty turned to Jasper, about to retort something but Bellamy stopped him.
“Raven… take us out.” She nodded and started the car. Nate closed the doors and the hangar door opened, revealing Octavia on horseback in front of the vehicle. They drove across Arkadia and followed her through the woods. Jasper had headphones on and started singing along the music he was listening to. Everyone in the car looked at him and Monty pulled the earphone out.
“No way. If you’re gonna ride shotgun, you can’t just disappear.” When Jasper went to connect his MP3 to the car system, Bellamy kept Monty from stopping him.
“It’s okay. It’s a long ride.” Quickly, Jasper began singing, joined by Raven and Nate who were enjoying the music. It was honestly not bad, but Michelle barely sketched a smile, letting her head rest against the wall, looking out the tiny, barred window on the back. She straightened up when she saw Jasper get up in the car and join them in the back to stick his head out the opening in the roof of the rover. The party was quickly over when the radar started bipping. Raven cut the music and made the car go to a halt.
“A tracking beacon from the Ark.” Monty exclaimed as he got on the passenger seat.
“Who is that?” Bellamy inquired.
“Farm Station.”
“After four months? How?” Nate wondered, glancing at Bellamy.
“We’ll find out. Where are they?” The car doors opened on Octavia, asking if she had missed the party.
“Sector 8.” Monty added.
“That’s Ice Nation.” Michelle said, frowning.
“What about it”?
“The protocole says we go home. Let the Chancellor decide what to do next.” Raven explained.
“Screw protocole. The Chancellor’s not from Farm Station. Monty is. So is Miller’s boyfriend. It’s your call.” Bellamy looked at Monty and Miller, leaving them the choice of action on this one and Monty almost immidietaly agreed to it. Octavia closed the door and they left for the Ice Nation territory. Michelle knew this wasn’t a good idea and it would at some point go sideways, not that she felt bad for going against the orders they had been given but she was thinking about how her father told her to be careful and she was not doing that at all. Even though her leg was healing, she had been warned by Abby to go easy on it or the drill wounds into her bones would always and forever weaken the strength in her limb. The scar on her hand was still barely healed as well, prominent, and pinkish across her palm. She would never fully recover her mobility and strength in her hand as nerves had been severed but the upside to that was that she no longer felt anything in the palm of her hand, neither pain nor hot nor cold.

When the car stopped again, they all quickly got out. Michelle and Bellamy looked around the forest that stretched before them. The sun was hidden by the clouds as the day progressed and they were bathed in a dull whitish light.
“These woods must be the border.”
“So wher’s all the ice?” Jasper asked, walking nonchalantly.
“Much further north.” Octavia stepped next to her brother. “Azgeda stretches for 1,000 miles.”
“Good thing we only have to go 200 meters.” Monty was leaning over the GPS in his hands, not looking ahead of him. Bellamy stopped him in his tracks, reminding him of the rules. They couldn’t engage with lethal forces if they crossed path with people from the Ice Nation. Knowing these people weren’t the most peaceful, it was really a rule setting them up for danger.
“Tight formation on my command. Raven, you stay in the rover.”
“We need every gun we’ve got.” Octavia then declared. As Monty watched the progression of the beam on the radar, telling them how much closer the people were getting, Michelle stared in front of her, holding her gun secured in her grip. Her scarred hand supported the barrel of the weapon. None of them moved a finger. Bellamy held his gun up, getting ready to fire, just in case.
“They’re our people. What are you—”
“We hope they’re our people.” On Bellamy’s command, they all aimed as they saw a bunch of horses coming towards them.
“Ice Nation?”
“Yes. White war paint.” She confirmed her brother’s question. There were three of them, on horses as white as the paint on their faces. Bellamy and the others lowered their guns. Octavia quietly advised them to stay calm and she raised her hands in peace as she approached the riders. They began to speak in trigedasleng. “They think we’re looking for Wanheda.”
“Who’s that?” Bellamy spoke for all of them when he asked this. Michelle frowned in confusion, wondering who it was and why it was even brought up. It must have a signification in their language, but they didn’t have the translation needed to understand. Even Octavia had no idea who that was. An Azgeda rider took a step towards her. Monty noticed a red light hanging from his bag. That was the beacon they had noticed on the radar. Out of the blue, Jasper walked up to them, ignoring Bellamy telling him to come back. He decided to act on his own at the worst time he could have chosen.
“Tell them we observe the Commander’s truce. Do it now.” Octavia hurried to do as her brother asked and she spoke in their language again, with a sense of urgency in her voice. They had to avoid losing control of the situation. Jasper straight up snatched the beacon, and the rider got a hold of him, holding a blade up to his neck. Michelle didn’t understand what he said after, but she made out the word wanheda again. Whoever that was, they were eager to find them. The two other riders bent their bows. Octavia seemingly tried to talk to them, but Jasper ruined any possible effort they could make and smiled as if he found the whole thing so funny. They never should have brought him on this run with them. He was too affected and messd up by what happened at Mount Weather and that had made him too reckless. His behavior was going to put them all at risk and of course things went downhill with the arrogant smile that grew on his face. The rider pressed the blade of his knife against the side of his throat, drawing blood and a shot was fired by each one of them until Bellamy ordered them to hold their fire, which they did but the two riders had fallen heavily from their mounts.
“Jasper, get down.” He kneeled and Octavia threw her machete at the last Azgedan standing, stabbing him neatly in the chest. The latter fell after stumbling. Just after the fight had ceased, they heard Kane's voice coming from the radio in the rover. It all got blew up in the first place because of Jasper. Michelle clenched her jaw, giving him a stare as she trotted around the car, her hand on the car door while Bellamy took the radio. Octavia took care of helping him up anyway. She leaned him against the vehicule while Miller got the aidkit out. As annoying as he was, he was still bleeding from his neck.
“We had to shoot three Ice Nation scouts.” There was no immediate response, so he insisted. “Culvert. Sector 4, copy. Will you tell me what’s going on?”
“When you get here. Out.”
“Sector 4? Why’s Kane so far outside the wall?” Michelle enquired, glancing at Raven standing beside her. It seemed like she was about to ask the exact same thing. He didn’t say anything and went to the others, shouting for them to get Jasper back home. They were knee-deep in a shit load of trouble because of his stupid behavior.
“Miller. Get one of their horses. Raven, since you can’t ride, you’re on the back. Monty, Michelle, you’re with me. Let’s go.” They all nodded to the instructions he gave them. While the others left on horseback, heading back to Camp Arkadia, Michelle, Monty and Bellamy climbed in the car and drove all the way to the entrance of a large tunnel. They jumped out and stayed on the look out.
“You were right about Jasper. Okay? Is that what you want me to say?”
“Quiet. Keep your eyes peeled. I could’ve said no.”
“He’s getting worse, isn’t he? I mean, getting drunk every night is one thing, but smiling with a knife to your throat, that’s next level damaged.”
“Exactly.” Michelle said quietly, staring ahead of her as she saw movement in the dense bushes and trees in front of them. The tall figure of her father appeared, followed by someone. The three of them held their guns low.
“Who’s he with?”
“Indra. He must’ve told her we broke the truce.” Bellamy added before walking to meet them. “Sir, before you say anything, there was a good reason—”
“I’ll deal with that later. This is about Clarke.”
“Clarke?” Michelle’s face suddenly relaxed as she looked at him, her lips parted. She quickly shook off the puzzlement she felt and continued. “What about her?”
“She’s being hunted.” Indra stated with a serious tone.
“By who?” Monty asked.
“By everyone.”
“So, she’s Wanheda.” Michelle quickly figured the person the Azgedan scouts were looking for, and that they kept calling wanheda, was most likely Clarke herself. Even if it didn’t really made sense to her now, there was no other reasoning possible. Bellamy contained his shock but when he looked at her, he couldn’t hide it from her. Just by sharing a simple look, they knew they would both be ready to do anything to save Clarke, wherever she might be and their shared love for her brought them together no matter what state their relationship was in. Even if they happened to hate each other, they would still be prepared to team up. Fortunately enough, they did not in fact hate each other. It was rather the opposite.
With Monty at the wheel, Michelle climbed in the back with the two newcomers, sitting next to her father as they drove through the forest. Indra seemed disconcerted and made uneasy by the tremors of the vehicle when a wheel hit a pothole in the road.
“I’m still getting used to it myself.” Kane admitted sofly.
“Sir, we’re almost out of range. Are you sure you don’t wanna tell the Chancellor?”
“I’m sure.” He told Monty. “I don’t wanna worry Abby until we know something.”
“We know there is a kill order. You people are big on those.”
“It’s not a kill order. It’s a bounty.” Indra corrected. “Clarke’s a symbol. She’s known as Wanheda. Seems like Michelle was the first to make the connection.”
“What does Wanheda means?” Michelle leaned on her knees, clasping her hands together. Indra turned her head towards her, silent for a second.
“It means, Commander of Death.”
“The Ice Nation guys we killed asked about Wanheda. They’re looking for Clarke. Why?” Bellamy spoke.
“My people believe that when you kill someone, you get their power. Kill Wanheda and you command death.”
“She’s just one girl.” Michelle glanced at her father as she straightened up and listened quietly. Maybe it wasn’t a kill order that Clarke was the target of but all in all, she would end up killed by someone. They had to do something to prevent that.
“So was the Commander. What Clarke did at Mount Weather weakened her. The Ice Nation is emboldened. Their Queen wants Clarke’s power. If her people believe she has it, she’ll break the coalition and start a war. I can’t let that happen.” A beeping noise started sounding at the front of the rover and Monty let them know they finally reached Sector 7. He asked where to go now and Indra’s voice rose again. “If she’s here, she’ll need supplies. We’ll start at the trading posts.”
Night fell quickly, and it was pitch-black outside with only the rover's headlights and moon as lights. It was silent too. Until Monty suddenly braked. Though unsettled and taken by surprised, Michelle was well seated and wouldn’t have fallen but Kane grabbed her arm. They looked out the windshield and saw the reason why Monty had stopped the car in the middle of nowhere. There was a large tree trunk lying across the road. They had to move it. Before Monty and Bellamy jumped out the vehicle, Indra stopped them.
“It’s been cut down.” If that was the truth it would mean this was a set up to catch them the moment, they stepped out of the car. Of course, Bellamy doubted her word and stood through the moon roof to take a look. The silence that followed was brief. Another tree crashed to the ground and Bellamy ducked back into the car. Now they knew for sure that Indra was right.
Tumblr media
“It’s been three hours. What are they waiting for?” Bellamy was growing impatient and annoyed at whoever was out there. The sun had risen outside and yet none of them could see anything to report around them, after they had now been stuck in the car the whole night.
“I say we make a run for it.”
“No. That’s what they want us to do.” Kane disagreed with Monty as he looked out the rear doors window. But if they couln’t go outside, there wasn’t many things they could do. Indra argued.
“The boy is right. They can wait longer than we can.”
“Okay, Bellamy. You get in the turret, and you cover us. Once we get to that ridge over ther, we’ll cover you.”
“Copy that. Run fast.” He stood up, opening the roof and they tightened their grip on their guns when he let them know that the people prying on them were already here. A man's muffled voice ordered them out, or maybe Bellamy did. The latter was pulled out the vehicle. Kane and Michelle exclaimed in surprise when he was lifted out the rover. They let go of their weapons, with Indra reluctantly doing the same. The metal of her sword clanged as it fell. The moment the door’s handle was turned down, they were pulled out the car violently and thrown on the ground in a concert of gruntings before being all pinned down. Her head held against the dirt, Michelle’s eyes swept over the people around them and watched two of them make Monty stand up. One snatched the beacon from him. He yelled to get it back, but Bellamy called out to him, and a masked woman picked up on his name. It was his mother. The woman took off her mask and drew her son into a hug. It was clear how relieved she was to have found him alive and well, safe and sound.
Michelle looked away, swallowing harshly. It was a sweet and sour sight for her as it only reminded her that her own mother was gone. She would never have the chance to experience such a moment and could only be reunited with her in death, but she was barely 18 so if she played smart at survival, she would still live for quite a while. Knowing that she would never see her mother ever again in this lifetime hurt her in ways she never imagined. She could feel this gaping hole in her heart that would never be filled again. The loss of her mother was still so fresh too. It was an open wound that felt like it would never heal but at least she had found another parent, although she would have preferred to have her mother as well as her father by her side. She blinked heavily to force the tear blurring her sight to fall and roll down her cheek while Monty hugged his mother in a tight embrace, sobbing.
“Pike?”
“You have no idea how good it is to see you.” He declared laughing and with a big smile on his face, holding out his hand to help him up. Michelle and Bellamy kind of glanced at each other as they were still pinned to the ground, a blade to their throats. “Lacroix, Smith, watch our six. Everyeon else, I said stand down.”
The man holding her down released her and she rolled on her back, leaning on her elbow to sit up. She caught her father's gaze as she furtively wiped away the tear and she took the hand he offered to help her up in turn. He gave her a compassionate and fatherly look, putting a comforting hand at the back of her head, softly stroking her hair with his thumb. He didn’t need to do much thinking to understand why she had gotten teary. There was a hint of sadness in his eyes too as he looked at her. His hand slid to her shoulders as they looked towards Monty and his mother. The latter spun around, looking for someone.
“Where’s dad?”
“Your father didn’t make it.” After a second of heavy silence, they stepped into a hug. Michelle watched them for a moment while Kane addressed Pike.
“How many of you are there?”
“63. The rest are camped in the mountains north of here.” He raised his voice, talking to the survivors around him, drawing Michelle's attention back to him. “Grounders killers one and all. Am I right?”
They joined into a yelling cry, and it got Michelle frowning. Her judging and defying stare got him looking directly at her. He squinted his eyes and started observing the proximity there was between Kane and her. She had forgotten but it was true that no one beside Abby had ever known she was Kane’s child. Her mother had always kept it a secret who the father of her kid was. Pointing a finger towards her, he parted his lips.
“Michelle Cartwig, right? I’d recognize that look of defiance anywhere. You always stared at me like this when I was teaching you.” She sketched a tight smile as he gave her a heavy pat on the shoulder that was meant to be friendly.
“Hate to cut this short. We gotta find Clarke.” Bellamy stepped in, unknowingly stopping this awkward interaction for Michelle. They had no time to waste on top of everything, so she didn’t need to be reminded that she always looked mad during Earth Skills lessons.
“Clarke Griffin?” He nodded. “If only all of my Earth Skills students were as good as her.”
“It’s good to see you, sir.” They shared a handshake, chuckling. Kane then asked for the tree to be moved from the road and Pike motioned for the rest of the Farm Station survivors to help them do so. Michelle knew she wouldn’t be of much help with the reduced strength of her hand, but she wanted to walk away from Pike. She had never liked people in position of authority and though the incident in which she spat at Kane, the news of the assault on a guard had spread all over the Ark. Monty joined Michelle and Bellamy “Are you okay?”
“I have to be.” They grunted as they bent over the trunk and proceeded to push it out of the way together. It didn’t take them much time to get things done and they walked back to the others.
“Kane, it’s time to go.” After Bellamy called out to him, the councilman instructed Monty to give the coordinates to Arkadia so they could go there on their own while they looked for Clarke’s whereabouts.
Tumblr media
When they arrived at the trading post, they heard noises of commotion in the building. Bellamy walked through the door first and shot the guy attacking the worker inside. She stood up in panic, stumbling as she found her footing, her face covered in blood as she watched them enter. Indra checked out the dead grounder, telling the group that it was a bounty hunter. He must have been after Clarke like everyone else they crossed paths with until now. She talked to the woman in their language and Michelle frowned at Pike when he insisted that they converse in English, for no reason. Kane told him to go search the perimeter with Monty and his mother, to make sure there was no one else lurking around the area. It was easy to tell that in the future, Pike would be a pain in the ass. There was a reason why Michelle had never been very obeidient and nice when he was her teacher. She didn’t like the guy. Watching him walk out, she turned back to Indra who had resumed talking. From what she gathered; she told her they were looking for Wanheda but she seemed wary to speak
“Please. She’s in danger.” Bellamy said.
“You’re Skaikru?” Finding this out seemed to loosen her tongue a bit. “She was here last night.”
“Did she say where she was going?” Kane stepped forward.
“No. She was here when I fell asleep, and gone when I woke up.”
“She gave you any indication of where she might go?”
“No. But he did. He said that his partner came back for her. It was Ice Nation.” Bellamy, Kane and Michelle shared a glance. They had already had a run in with Ice Nation people before. It didn't look good. Monty walked back inside. They all turned to him.
“Good news. I found fresh tracks.”
“Great. Start the Rover.”
“That’s the bad news.” He looked at Bellamy. “Too many trees. We have to go on foot.”
Michelle let the others out first and turned when she heard the woman's voice behind her. “I hope you find her.” She gave her a strong nod before following suit and joining her peers outside. They had to track down Clarke before anything bad happened to her because it would if they wasted too much time. Coming out of the forest, they crossed a large field, on the lookout. Being in such a big and open place was almost less reassuring than being in a crowded forest. There was no way for them to know if someone was watching them from the treetops or following them around in the high grass. As they walked, Michelle heard the others talk behind her and Kane until Indra, who had stopped in her tracks, asked them to be quiet as she looked in the distance. Maybe she had spotted something.
“Listen.”
“War drums.” Kane noted. Michelle looked around and she heard them too. Now that she has pointed it out. She just noticed the consistency of the rumbling sound going on in the background.
“Azgeda.”
“You can tell it’s Ice Nation from the sound?” Monty was puzzled.
“No. From them.” They followed her gaze and saw the bodies lying around. Michelle counted three of them dead.
“We need to get those bodies off the field. Unless you’re good with them thinking we did this.” Kane dropped to one knee; his weapon raised in front of him. The others ran to the bodies to get them off the field because on that one Pike was right, they couldn’t afford to have Azgeda think they killed some of their own. Michelle went along with the others, jogging towards the corpses when Bellamy saw people coming. He looked through the precision scope of his firearm.
“It’s Clarke.” Michelle froze and turned to him. They had been running after her the whole day, looking for her everywhere for months and she was right here and there on the very same field in which they stood. He started running but Pike stopped him in his course. She jogged towards them as the young man shouted for him to get out of his way.
“You’ll never make it in time.”
“He’s right. Look.” Bellamy listened to Monty and looked through the scope again. Michelle did the same and noticed the Azgedan troops marching out of the forest. She then resumed approaching the three of them. “No way we’d get across without being seen.”
“We should lay low, let the army pass. Then we find Clarke.” Michelle looked down, thinking. She wasn’t so in on just waiting it out. If they did so, they would lose their opportunity to get Clarke while she was there. She could tell Bellamy wasn’t so happy about what Pike was telling them they should do right now.
“Guys, there’s a cave.” Monty then showed them a dark opening in the trees.
“I can’t go with you.” Indra declared.
“Why?” Kane looked up at her as he was kneeling beside one of the bodies. He stood back up while the rest of them took care of dragging the body out of the open field.
“Ice Nation has crossed the border. They’re marching against my commander. I have to warn her.”
“We’ll get Clarke.”
“You better. If the Ice Queen gets her first, she’ll be dead. And we’ll be at war.” She warned before leaving them. They carried the bodies into the cave and waited. Michelle leaned against the wall, behind her father as the later stood with Pike and watched Bellamy pacing, constantly looking outside. She felt as restless as him, tapping her foot on the ground but for the time being, she got herself to focus on her hand to distract herself. She ran her thumb along the scar that barred her hand, scraping her fingernail on the tissue but because nerves had gotten severed, she felt nothing and could barely flex her fingers. She used her good hand to force it to close it into a fist, but she couldn’t hold it in that position for very long. She looked up when Bellamy came up to them.
“We’re losing her.” He said, anxious.
“Relax. Save your energy.”
“Kane’s right, son. The army will move soon. You’ll need your strength for what comes next.” He reluctantly gave in and went near the entrance. Michelle let herself slide to the ground, sitting cross-legged, staring at her hand as she held it closed. For some reason, maybe out of pure boredom or to cope with how worried she felt, she grabbed a dry pine needle and started picking at her scar. She couldn't feel anything, so she didn't know if she was going too hard on it, but she didn't care and kept doing so until her father, who had sat on a large rock next to her, stopped her from hurting herself. She just looked up at him and sighed crossing her arms when Monty’s voice broke the heavy silence in the cave.  He crouched in front of his mother.
“I need to know what happened.” Michelle watched him and gulped. It reminded her of when she was told how her own mother died following the bombing in the Ark. The thought that it was at that time, that with her last breath she told Kane he was Michelle’s father got her to purse her lips to keep them from quivering. When she lashed out at him, he already knew. It took a second for Monty’s mother to start telling him.
“We landed in the snow. Your father said it absorbed some of the impact. That’s why we survived. The snow looked so beautiful.” Her voice cracked as she started sobbing and she called Pike’s name so he would continue telling Monty the story for her. Michelle stood up and Kane scooted over so she could sit beside him.
“The children were playing in it. They were the first to die. 15 of them.” Michelle tilted her face forward as she leaned on her knees, running her thumb up and down her scar. What hearing the tragic story made her feel had nothing to do with what happened, but it led her to think of her mother, again. She pursed her lips as her hair fell over her face, hiding her fight against the rising tears. She held them back, closing her eyes for a second as her father gently stroked her back before putting his arm around her shoulders. She felt hesitation in his gesture but seeing that she wasn't pushing him away, he held her close. “If not for your father, would have been more. He pulled four kids back into the ship. All four alive today. They got him when he went back for the fifth. Your father died a hero, Monty. We’ve been fighting Grounders ever since.”
“That was the Ice Nation.” Pike turned his head to Kane. “Not all Grounders are the same.”
“They are to me.” His response sure put an end to the conversation. He was so stubborn with his view and opinion on Grounders that it would have been impossible for anyone to convince him of the opposite.
Afterwards, Monty began to explain how they got out of Mount-Weather. Michelle sighed and stood up to stretch her legs. She had noticed Bellamy eyeing the bodies on the ground and one look suffised for them to read each other’s mind. Neither of them was willing to wait any longer before going after Clarke and if they really waited for the army to pass, it would take a while. Behind the backs of the other four who were all too busy listening to Monty, they stole clothing and masks from the dead Grounders and slipped among the troops outside. They stayed very close to each other and behaved as if they belonged in this army. At some point, another warrior came face to face with Bellamy and they stared at each other before he grabbed his shoulders and turned him in the right direction. Michelle stared straight ahead with a conviction she knew was fake and followed suit. The Grounder then walked past them, yelling commands to the others. Once he was a few feet away, his back turned to them, Michelle nodded to Bellamy, and they continued their way in the direction they had seen their friend last. Once in the forest, they removed mask and hood and saw blood at an entrance with stairs sinking into the ground. Pulling out their knives, they glared at each other, and Michelle let Bellamy take the lead. They took careful steps and looked around from where they stood until they noticed someone tied to a pole. They could only see the hands on the sides, so they approached and found Clarke. They were both so relieved that they smiled but as he pulled down the gag in her mouth, she shouted to warn them, but someone came out of the shadows behind Michelle and grabbed her forcefully. She struggled, and as Bellamy raised his knife to attack, the man brought the blade to her throat to dissuade him.
“No, please. Please don’t. I’ll do anything. I’ll stop fighting. Just please, don’t kill her.” Clarke begged him to spare her, her voice getting shaky. Michelle let out a sigh of relieve when he released the blade from her throat but suddenly, he threw the knife at Bellamy, stabbing him in the leg, making him yell of pain as he fell to the ground and he threw Michelle against the wall, hitting her head. She swallowed harshly, rolling on her side. She didn’t lose consciousness but was disoriented and in pain as a sensation of odd warmth seized her head. She couldn’t hear or see what was happening around her as she tried to get up. It felt as if the world was spinning around her, leading her to stumble around and losing her balance only to catch herself on the pole to which Clarke was tied up a moment before except that both she and the man were now gone. The ringing in her ears eventually subdued and she saw Bellamy on the ground. She leaned on the pole, closing her eyes to try to cope with the searing headache she had and called out to him but when she tried to stand on her own and take a step towards him, she felt pulled in the opposite direction, her head spinning and caught herself on the pillar. She threw up but because she hadn't eaten anything since, they left for the mapping run yesterday, she had only bile to get out and it left her throat burning and feeling sore. She took a few tottering steps and leaned forward on her knees, moaning.
“Michelle?” Hearing the worried tone of Bellamy's voice mixed with the pain from getting stabbed and knocked out, she managed to straighten up, stumbling a bit.
“Are you okay?” Her voice sounded castling. She cleared her throat and coughed, looking at the blood-soaked area around the wound on his leg. She helped him up, each leaning on the other for support. He groaned.
“Your head.” As she was about to dismiss his concerns because she had already noticed her head was hurting and acting up, she felt something get on her eye and went to rub it but looking at her hand she saw her fingers were tinged with red. Her head injury wasn't just vertigo and nausea, there was blood dripping on her forehead. She needed to get to Arkadia and get checked by Abby quickly in case of a concussion, but she downplayed it and shrugged. For now, they had to get out of here and she had to suck it up. She took a deep breath and tried to act as if she was completely fine, wiping the blood from his forehead. Her hair stuck to her temple. Maybe it would hide her head injury a little. They slowly climbed up the stairs, grunting and groaning, leaning on the walls and then the trees around them as they walked through the forest. After a few minutes, they heard Monty's voice calling their names and they slopped against a tree. Michelle let go of Bellamy and almost crashed to the ground, but he grabbed her waist and she stabilized herself.
“We told you to wait for the army to move.” Kane reached them, Pike and Monty’s mother were right behind the two, a little further away.
“What happened?” Monty looked them up and down, worried for his friends and Kane’s eyes landed on the wound on his leg.
“We almost had her.” Bellamy said, panting.
“Pike, find their trail.” He grabbed his daughter’s face in his hand, taking a closer look to her face after no doubt noticing a slight reddish tinge to his forehead or maybe she was bleeding again. It was probably more the latter given the urgency in his need to check on her. He ran his finger to brush the hair out of her face and found it stiff and sticking together with blood.
“It’s useless. He knows he’s being followed now.”
“Hey. You can’t even walk.” Kane stopped Bellamy as he tried to leave and because they were holding onto each other, Michelle was dragged along with him. He pushed him against the tree to keep him in place and despite all her efforts, Michelle let out a shaky moan, closing her eyes to get her head to stop spinning. She pushed Bellamy’s arm and sat on the ground, holding her head in her hands.
“So what? We give up? Let him kill her?” He groaned as he took a few steps, stopped by Monty trying to talk some sense into him. Michelle wanted to go after Clarke as bad as he did, but she couldn’t think straight, she couldn’t think at all without her head hurting like hell.
“We can’t lose Clarke!” She lifted her head, looking at Bellamy when he cried out. She tried to stand up on her own and her father kept her from falling over. He held her face in his hand as she closed her eyes, gulping. Throwing his gun over his back, he picked up Michelle and carried her in his arms despite her faint protests insisting that she could walk but he knew she might have a concussion and he wasn't ready to let her take any further risks. He would be mad at her when she wouldn't be bleeding anymore and could stand without closing her eyes.

i do what i have to do.
pairings. bellamy blake x fem!reader
part two of two.
about. in which you point your gun at someone you never thought you’d point it at.
Tumblr media
warnings. swearing
ricky rocks. look who finally finished a year old one shot/fic/whatever you call it 🤗🤗
bellamy coudn’t hurt you even if he wanted to. so, when mumbling the words, ‘move or i’ll kill you’, you could see right through his bluff by the way his eyes so willingly betrayed him, filled with... hurt.
in all truth, bellamy believed you would have shot him if it would have come down to that, and maybe that’s what pained him most. he wouldn't hurt a hair on your head, and you would have, but only for the best interest and safety of arkadia and your friends.
you never wanted to hurt bellamy, but recently you really, really wanted to slap him upside the head for all the stupid shit he had been doing. and maybe a gun scare would knock some sense into him, or maybe it would only put him deeper into the hole pike was digging for him.
bellamy yanked you to your feet quickly after the two of you had seemed to have recovered from all the commotion that had just taken place. you weren't sure whether or not he wanted to get you away from the increase in rowdy crowd or to have his way with you first.
you were beginning to think it was the last option as he marched down the hall with you in front of him, gripping your left arm while the other pressed against your back. one, two, three, four more steps before he shoved you into one of the guards rooms, his room.
“what the hell do you think you’re doing?” he let go of your arm with a slight shove causing you to stumble forward a bit. he looked angry, more than you had ever seen him and more than you would have ever wished to see.
“bellamy, don’t start with me,” you mumbled, raising a finger to harshly accuse him... for something. “if you’re going to kill me, just get it over with.”
he scoffed, looking beyond dumbfounded with his mouth slight agape, not believing the words that had just came from your mouth.
“stop fucking talking,” he needed to think. he begun to pace back and forth, and you had no idea what to do with yourself as you watched him. “i need to get you out of here.”
"what?"
he gives you a dumbfounded look that was filled with a sense of urgency, "y/n, you just shot someone that can have you dead within seconds. you don't leave, someone’s going to do exactly what you did, and take justice into their own hands."
"you should have let me finish the job."
"we're not starting this," he grips your shoulder before pushing you by your upper back. "people are leaving. o, kane, miller—you go with them. you stay, they'll kill you."
"how do you know this?" you mumbled, glancing back at the mention of your friends and the planned escape you all had developed. bellamy was considered a traitor to you all, so he would be the last person on your list to concern with the escape plan.
"eyes everywhere."
you narrow your brows at him, "you're coming with."
he narrows his brows in shock, not expecting you to say this, you share the same expression, also shocked by yourself. the past month would explain this--not only had you watched your world at arkadia fastly crumble after the slow rebuild of humanity, you also witnessed your relationship with bellamy slowly tank moment after moment while his with pike was created.
so, offering passage was an absurd idea. after all the betrayal.
he seems to wince after his surprisal settles but is quick to keep a straight face as best as he can, "you're getting the wrong idea."
"am i?"
"we're not friends anymore, y/n. this isn't old times," his words are intentionally stinging, but you don't miss the look on his face that betrays him. "you can't save me if that’s what you’re thinking. I don't need to be saved, i know what i’m doing."
you frown, "bellamy, you need to stop acting like there's never going to be a happy ending for you before it comes true. leave with us."
"you know i can't do that."
"why not?"
"I dug myself in too deep this time," his face was still stone cold, but it didn't prevent remorse from blossoming in your chest. "maybe if you weren't such a terrible shot, this would be all over."
***
in well under an hour bellamy had you out of arkadia, alone. your friends had left a lot sooner than thought and no matter how much begging you did—expectedly—bellamy left his mind unchanged.
you knew exactly where your friends were going—where they’d be. it was a long and lonely hike but it was enough time for reflection.
you miss the time where you felt like a kid still. where you were young and reckless and full of hope that you’d finally get to be free upon that first step off the drop ship. that you had purpose and will and fighting was something you hadn’t really minded aside from the possible side affect of death.
now you were tired. you just wanted to lay your head down for once and not think about the pointless rivalry purging your everyday life.
“y/n, you’re okay,” octavia pulls you into a tight hug, a certain relief setting over. “god, after we hadn’t seen you, we assumed the worst.”
“i’m okay,” you gave her a thin-lipped smile, “thanks to your brother.”
“bellamy?” she seems shocked, like that’s the first courteous thing he’s done for someone in years.
“yes,” you nod, understanding the hostile tone she almost takes with his name. “i think he might’ve saved me.”
“where is bellamy?” miller speaks causing you to realize they had all emerged from the cave.
"he's gone."
"dead?"
"no,” you shake your head, “he stayed behind. he said he had to fix some thing’s before he showed his face again.”
octavia mentally rolled her eyes, but kept her composure as she watched you, “you’re here. that’s all that matters.”
***
“is he dead?”
“indra has him.”
“bellamy-“
“y/n,” he gives you a pointed look at your protest. “you know that’s as good as dead.”
he was right. pike killed her people, that was far from unforgivable. he’d be lucky to receive death.
“she didn’t kill you.”
he shook his head, keeping his eyes low to the ground, “thanks to o.”
it took a day for bellamy to find you all. his face was beaten and bloodied, but you knew better than to ask what the cause was. he had a lot of enemies at the moment and it wasn’t like this was something out of the blue for him. you would've been surprised to see a clean face.
“she doesn’t hate you as much as you think.”
“i’d like to think she doesn’t hate me at all,” he presses his lips into a thin line. “you’re right though.”
you nod, trying to look sympathetic.
“about everything. i’m sorry.”
your mouth slightly opens in shock from not anticipating his words; apology and admitting.
“i’m sorry too,” you nod, swallowing harshly as you think about having that gun pointed inches from his face. “i would’ve never shot you.”
“you sure?” his voice is lighthearted, but you can tell he’s genuine when asking. “could’ve guessed otherwise.”
“guessing will only hurt you,” you tease, but quickly drop the blitheness. “i shouldn’t have done it, but i was scared… and angry.”
“i know,” he whispers, “we do what we have to do, right?”
“right.”
“then if that means shooting me to knock some sense into me, do it.”
a laugh gets stuck in the back of your throat at the preposterous thought of it. the funny thing was you knew he wasn’t joking. classic bellamy, putting himself in harm’s way.
“me a couple months ago would be more than happy to oblige,” you shake your head, making it his turn to laugh.
“us a couple months ago was a different story. i’m sure we already had guns to each other’s throats.”
you laugh with him, “yeah.”
“never again.”
nodding, “never again.”
you stare at one another now, quiet and calm. you don’t think you’ve ever had a moment like this with bellamy before.
you’re not sure what to do, but bellamy does.
your months of angsty butting heads leading to civilness, then ultimately leading to radio silence on both of your ends due to pike, had killed him. and now, here you were, back in his grasp of more than just civilness, he couldn’t let that go.
“i lied,” he mumbles, suddenly shifting from the rock he sat on. “instead of shooting me…” he’s leaning now, hovering, and just barely resisting the urge to complete his intentions. you feel his breath fan your face; feel, because your eyes are shut. “please, just kiss me.”
his nose is slotted against yours, still hovering as he watches you beneath his eye lashes. his lips are so close… so close to yours, it’s killing him that he waits.
“i’m sorry, but i have to do this,” he smiles before finally pressing his lips against yours.

I NOW WE'RE TALKING ABOUT RED BUT YOU CANNOT TELL ME THAT TEARS RICOCHET ISNT ABOUT BELLUNE LIKE!!!!!!!!!
i just found this in my drafts bc i very clearly had inspo and i cant believe i never shared it. my tears ricochet x bellune, but make it a season 3 au where we lose our girl instead of lincoln oops sorry
You sit beside Kane in lock up, having just said goodbye to your mother, wishing you could do the same with Bellamy and your sister.
As you near the hour of what will soon be your death, you find comfort in knowing that at least Clarke will have your mother. Selfishly, some part of you is grateful that you don’t have to feel the loss of losing your twin, and that Clarke will have to learn to live with the grief. But she was always stronger than you, and if anyone could learn to live without half of themselves, your shining star can.
But in the end, it’s Bellamy your heart aches for. In a way, he’s lost his sister, his friends, those that are closest to him. In the moments of silence, when it’s just the two of you, you can see the weight pulling down his shoulders, can see the anguish that has settled into the lines on his face. Bellamy has spent most of his life lost; searching for who he is without a father, what kind of man he wanted to be on the Ark. and then losing his mother and Octavia, it left him listless, floating in the openness of space with no idea of who he wanted to be.
It’s why he so easily agreed to save Octavia’s life by shooting Jaha; he had the opportunity to find himself again. To anchor his identity to his goal of saving Octavia, and ultimately, his people.
But then his obsession with saving his people, after having lost so many in such a short time, broke him, pushed into the arms of a fascist chancellor who saw how easy it was to take advantage of the man you love.
It’s a path you can’t follow him down.
It’s a path you won’t be given the chance to follow him down, even if you wanted to.
You look at Kane, at the man you’ve come to see as a father figure without even realizing it was happening. And now, the man who will lose his life the same way your father lost his. Fighting for what’s right.
“It can't be all for nothing.” Kane turns to look at you in confusion, not understanding what you mean. You push on, “All of it. The spying, Mount Weather, all the hell we’ve faced can’t be all for nothing. Pike will destroy Skaikru until there’s nothing left, and everything we fought for will no longer matter.”
Lincoln wanders over and sits beside you on the bench. He reaches out to squeeze your shoulder, a silent message that he understands your frustration.
“There’s nothing left for us to do. We have to hope our deaths will mean something. That it will finally push for the change we’ve been fighting for.”
You’re incredulous at the suggestion, at the thought of being told to just stop fighting. “So that’s it? We just give up?”
Kane shakes his head, his expression sad, but determined. “No. This is how we fight now. We go with grace, accept our punishment, hold our head high. We don’t break, we don’t show fear. The people will remember.”
He glances up at Sinclair, who has just joined the three of you, nodding in agreement. You look at Lincoln, who gives Kane a single nod in agreement, and you sit between them, wondering how this is all that’s left for you. You’re the last to agree, resigned to a fate that may save the love of your life and your people, a fate that you will not be around to see.
-
You’ve never been happier to see Octavia Blake in your entire life.
She ushers all of you to safety, freedom just on the other side of a hidden passageway built into Arkadia’s walls.
A freedom that she watches slip away as Lincoln insists on staying back for his people.
You see the betrayal on her face as she slips into unconsciousness, the same betrayal you felt when Bellamy did the same thing to you in Mount Weather. As Lincoln passes his unconscious girlfriend into Kane’s waiting arms, you close in on him, trying to change his mind. She passes out right after, and Lincoln catches her easily, passing her to Kane. You step towards Lincoln, looking at him in confusion. “What are you doing?”
“Same thing you’d do for your people.”
You give him a serious look, “Yu laik ai kru.”
You are my people. He smiles at you, but it’s sad, and the sight of it hurts your heart. “Just get her out of here. Please.”
But then Kane’s words rattle around in your head, and it finally clicks for you. We have to hope our deaths will mean something. The people of Arkadia see Lincoln as a Grounder, and his sacrifice to save other Grounders will mean nothing to them. They will only see it as someone saving their own. They need to see one of their own, someone from the Ark, risking their life for Grounders. It’s the only way they’ll ever understand what the rest of you are fighting for.
The answer seems so obvious now, and you feel like a fool for not thinking of it earlier.
You turn back to Lincoln, shaking your head at him, already stepping away. “Get her out of here yourself. I can save your people.” And maybe Bellamy too.
Kane steps closer to the two of you, unable to avoid overhearing your conversation in the small hallway. His expression is distraught, shaking his head as he looks at you. “No, you can’t.”
“You said it yourself: our deaths can mean something. The people will remember. I know this place better than Lincoln, I know the guard schedules and routes. I can get them out and be seen only when I need to be. I can end this.”
“But Clarke-”
You cut Kane off, “Has my mother, and our friends, and you.”
You can see the moment he remembers that you will not go out without a fight, that you will do this with or without his support. He offers you the only thing he can, which is his blessing. “If you get them into the west woods, they can navigate the trade routes to the blockade. They’ll be safe.”
It relieves you to have his approval, though you can see the anguish it’s causing him to give it. You give him a small smile of thanks, hoping he won’t carry guilt from something that you’re willingly choosing to do.
You can’t say the same for Lincoln, who grabs your arm as you try to step away, pulling you back towards the escape route. “La lune, you can’t.”
“We both know it’s the only way, Lincoln. You know that I know this camp better than you. I’m more likely to make it through unnoticed. If you want your people to be safe, they need to get out of this camp, at least until Pike is dead. I can’t take care of that, but I can save your people and make a statement. Maybe the people will turn on him, offer him to the Grounders at the blockade.”
You can see that he desperately wants to argue with you, but when his mouth opens, no words come out. Because both of you know he’s right, and if Skaikru wants any chance of survival, they need to see Pike do the unthinkable. He reaches out for you, his strong arms pulling you into a hug, and it’s the first time since you made your decision that you start to tear up.
When Lincoln pulls away, his expression is sad, but you swear you glimpse a look of pride in your eyes. It strengthens your resolve further. “A warrior with a heart.”
You smile at him before reaching up and unclasping your necklace, your thumb brushing over the silver moon one last time. You press it into Lincoln’s hand, delivering your final wish. “Can you give this to Bellamy for me?”
His hand closes over the moon, the last time you’ll ever see the small charm, and when you meet Lincoln's eyes, you can see that he understands what this means to you. “Of course.”
There’s a clamor down the hall, what sounds like a commotion of guards, and you know that time is finally up. You quickly press a kiss to Octavia’s forehead and back away from the two men, looking them both over as you mutter, “May we meet again.”
They repeat it back to you before slipping into the hidden passageway, and when you press the panel back into the wall, it’s with the knowledge that you’ll never see any of them again.
-
The escape of 4 prisoners sentenced to death has the guards scrambling, and it makes them sloppy.
It’s easy to be invisible when that’s all you were your entire life. You blend in with the crowds of Arkadians easily, walking past most of the guards in plain sight. And when you round the final corner to the small lock up you left not long ago, you’re relieved to find that they only left one guard behind.
He’s not expecting you, so when you run down the hall at full speed, kicking your legs out to swipe his own feet from beneath him, he tumbles easily. You yank the shock baton from his belt, cranking it up just enough to knock him unconscious, but not to kill him. You’re trying to help your cause, not hurt it.
You pat the man down, finding a small pocket knife that you slip into your pants, along with his key card to open the holding cell door. Denae stands there with the others, looking at you in shock, surprised to see you after you were led to your death not long ago.
“Where’s Lincoln?”
“Safe. Escaped with the others.” You look over the group of Grounder prisoners that have started to stand and move towards you. “We don’t have much time. I have to get you to the west woods before they notice you’re gone.”
The Grounders don’t need to be told to hurry; they’ve seen how easily Pike locked his people up and sentenced them to death, know that it’s only a matter of time before they’re next. The stronger ones carry and guide the weak, and you take the emptier hallways until all of you are safely outside, the fence and the woods beyond it in your sight. You want to be seen, but getting caught before freeing the Grounders will only make things worse for everyone.
As your group openly jogs across a busy section of Arkadia, people stop to watch you, but no one says a word, unsure of what exactly they’re seeing. When you reach the fence, you toss a nearby stick at a section you hope is no longer electrified, fried long ago during spy related activities. The stick hits the ground without event, and you let out a sigh of relief, guiding Denae and the others through the gaps in the fence. When everyone is safely through, Denae turns to look at you, surprised to find you still on the other side. “You’re not coming with us?”
“There’s something else I need to do. Follow the trade route to the west, and you’ll reach the blockade in no time. Your people can protect you from there.”
“Thank you.”
You feel strange accepting her thanks. “I’m sorry for what my people have done to yours. Maybe one day we will all be one people.”
“Peace will find a way.”
And as the two of you exchange a smile, an alarm begins to sound over the PA system, prompting Denae to turn and run, disappearing into the treeline with her people before Pike and his guards even know they’re gone. You let out a sigh of relief, because at least now, everyone is safe. Except for you.
-
“La lune, la lune, la lune.”
The name falls from Bellamy’s lips like a broken prayer as he sprints through the woods, back towards Arkadia, a necklace squeezed so tight in his grasp that a small silver moon will leave its imprint in his palm for hours after he lets go.
He can hear footsteps crashing through the woods behind him, his sister and Kane calling his name as he tears through the woods on memory alone, letting his legs carry him back to the woman he loves.
I only wanted to keep her safe. To protect her, and my people. I was wrong, I was wrong, I was wrong.
When he bursts through the treeline, his eyes trace the arc of Arkadia looming high in the gray skies, rain starting to fall like the Earth knows what’s about to happen. Bellamy is sure that he can stop it, that he can convince Pike to save your life, even though he failed before. He’ll give himself in your place, accept that the bullet meant for you is actually for him, one shot to atone for his sins and wipe his slate clean. Because you deserve to live, to have peace and live life until you’re old and gray. You deserve a partner that loves you, and the comfort of knowing that you’ll always be safe with the people you love. You deserve all the things you’ve dreamed and longed for, and even if he can't be there to see it, even if he can't be there to give those things to you, he will sacrifice himself in your place.
Pike walks ahead of a group of guards, guards that Bellamy would have considered friends not two days earlier, guards that are now pulling his fighting girlfriend outside the main gate.
Bellamy starts to run again, his legs moving on instinct to be with you, but strong hands pull him back, holding him in place with an iron grip, forcing him to watch from a distance.
Your hands are bound; hands that he once spent hours holding, content just to be with you. Your hair is wild around you, the way it looks when you wake beside him each morning, tousled now from the way you’re fighting the guards. And the necklace that would normally be glinting in the light around your neck is now gripped so tightly in his hand that blood begins to seep between his fingers.
He wants to turn to Kane and Octavia, scream that they have to save you, that they have to let him go so he can take your place, but he is frozen as he sees you pulled before Pike, the chancellor’s hand already resting on the gun at his side.
-
Pike is too much of a coward to kill you in the middle of Arkadia.
You guessed as much, but once he dragged you towards the back of camp, out of sight from the rest of your people, you started to fight, deciding that going with grace only worked if there was someone there to see it.
The people of Arkadia will know what happened to you, even though Pike tries to hide it.
Once you are pulled through the gate and into a patch of land just outside Arkadia’s walls, you finally stop your fight. It’s almost over. Everyone you love is outside the camp, except your mother, who will have no idea what’s happened until after you’re gone. You can only hope she remembers her promise to you and Kane, and that she doesn’t risk her life when Clarke still needs her.
You thought you’d be scared, but you aren’t. You swear it’s because your father is with you, his cologne easy to spot amongst the smell of dirt and pine. He’s keeping you standing tall and strong, giving nothing to the man that will soon take your life. A man that he once played chess with, long ago on a ship in the sky, long before anyone knew that a life on Earth was possible.
When you had nothing but time while locked up, you anguished over all the things you were going to lose. Now, as the clock ticks towards the end, you think only of the things that give you joy. You think of Clarke when you were both small, of the pictures she would draw and leave on your pillow to find in the morning. You think of Octavia, the timid girl that became a warrior and your friend, making you more proud than you thought possible. You think of Monty’s moonshine and your mom’s laugh and most of all you think of Bellamy.
You think of the freckles dotted across his face, the ones you would trace for hours as he slept beside you. You think of his lopsided grin, and the way he always seemed to know what you needed before you needed it. You think of how he gave you strength when you had none, the way he laughed when he thought no one was paying attention. You think of him in the quiet moments, the in between, when his face was serene with sleep or his shoulders finally relaxed at the end of a long day. You think of Greek gods, constellations, and the Iliad, of all the stories that tied the two of you together.
And your final wish to the Universe as you turn to face Pike, is that Bellamy Blake will no longer be lost.
-
You stand tall as they turn you to Pike, your stance confident, despite the situation you’re in.
You don’t drop to your knees when they ask you too, making the guards get their hands dirty instead as they push your knees into the mud beneath you.
You don’t flinch when Pike pulls out his pistol and cocks it.
Your eyes never leave his as his finger moves to the trigger.
The last words to ever leave your lips falls on ears that don’t understand the meaning.
“I love you more than the stars.”
And you swear the last thing you hear before everything goes dark, is a scream that sounds a lot like Bellamy.
-
Bellamy feels like the scream is splitting his throat apart, his anguish so raw, so palpable, that he’s sure he must be bleeding.
He can’t understand that he’s okay, that the pain he’s feeling isn’t one that can ever be seen. He’s sure that it will kill him, that his heart will refuse to carry this and simply stop. He thinks that will be the greatest mercy, the way to reunite again with you.
He doesn't remember Kane and Octavia pulling him away from the clearing, trying to escape the Arkadian guards that now know where they are. He doesn't remember punching the walls of the cave until his hands were nothing but blood and torn flesh, doesn't remember the screams that tore from his throat until Kane slipped Reaper drugs into his veins.
He slips unconscious in a fit of anguish, surrounded by friends who wonder how they will share the news of your death to your other half if this is how Bellamy reacts.
They have to keep someone on guard duty all night, because Bellamy tries to escape three separate times, swearing he’s going to kill Pike with nothing more than his bare hands.
He has to be chained up when they kidnap Pike and deliver him to the Grounders, ending the blockade. He fights the restraints for hours, until his wrists are just as bloody as his hands once were, and only when he’s finally exhausted every ounce of strength in his body does he finally fall asleep.
And when he dreams, he dreams of you.

notes: hi - i am sad. this is a fic about me being sad. if you read it you might be able to figure out why i'm sad. i don't love creating from a place of sadness anymore but i am sick of talking about it to people that care about me and my girlfriend marcus pike is, like, right there. so this is me being sad. i am going to try to not write a fic like this again (sad for the fact that i am sad.) we'll see how successful that mission is. we out here.
Tumblr media
It’s you who brings up the ‘M’ word. Well, two words: moving in. They come out of your mouth haphazardly one night. A long night of dinner and drinks with wonderful sex after.
It’s been six months. The question, what if me staying over was more…permanent? Marcus is silent for about thirty seconds before he simply kisses you, asking if he needs to start bringing boxes home from work. This is what makes you recoil emotionally, shaking your head as you say you’ve had too much wine. You fall asleep in his arms with your heart pounding and cold.
How are you supposed to tell Marcus that the last time you lived with someone you knew, it ended disastrously? Not just a shit roommate—lives ruined, emotional wounds that never quite healed. A friendship of almost a decade down the drain because the one person you trusted in the world couldn’t grow out of the role they’d locked themselves in. How do you tell him that your family only started treating you right when you moved hours away, that you need an allotted amount of time alone lest you turn into the worst person alive?
You’re over here three out of five nights of his work week. Marcus is the one person in the world you seem to never be able to get enough of. And yet you can’t help that lingering instinct, a stutter in your gut that births a brood of unwanted doubts and insecurities. You live alone. You like it like that. Liked it like that, maybe.
You’d like to move your dishes into the cabinet downstairs—the chipped set of Corelle that Marcus has eaten off of all but once, telling you the plates reminded him of the ones his mother had in Chile. You’d like to wake up with fresh underwear after showers with the man you love only a drawer pull away; his sheets to become your sheets, and yours his. Bender doesn’t like your couch as much as Marcus’ and you’ve been meaning to sell it anyway.
There is a life that could be lived here. A future within these red walls. But you won’t risk it. You will not make that mistake again. Some things are not meant to be shared, and maybe this is one of them. Better to be in solitude half the time with him than isolated all the time without.
But all this stays in the background. Marcus doesn’t bring it up again, doesn’t push. Part of you assumes that he’s forgotten—he drank a lot of wine that night too. Or perhaps he assumes your life has had enough change for a little while. The new job and all that comes with it.
After months of unemployment and steadily weaning yourself off of babysitting other people’s pets, you’ve found one. It’s not much—the pay or the pleasure in doing it—but it is something. You wake up at seven o’clock to be ready for eight and out of the house by quarter past. The drive to D.C. is busy, an increasingly miserable twenty-seven minute commute that everyone on the road slogs through together.
Marcus is happy for you. He’s happy you leave the house for some other reason than to visit him, and he likes to hear about your work day. The people are fine, nice even, and you tell him that. Neither he nor they can stave off the low mood that takes hold of you with every coming cold season, but you try not to focus on that.
Marcus is aware, but he doesn’t bring it up beyond a simple question of how you’re feeling sometimes. He gets warmer as the world outside does the opposite, softening beyond what you thought possible. Your boyfriend is a sourdough starter, not that you’re complaining. The sex you have is sweet and slow. Lovemaking might be the only appropriate turn of phrase. He can’t seem to stop saying it—the ‘L’ word—every time he’s inside of you.
Your dreams are an odd combination of the Palace of Versailles and Orson Welles’ Citizen Kane. A spotlight, a projector. The many versions of yourself, all of whom Marcus loves. The many versions of yourself, most of which you do not.
Mirrors. Lots of them. You’re grateful now when the shower steam makes the glass in Marcus’ bathroom sweat, sparing you from looking into another one. Being so walled off feels like lying to him. You can’t help it. Maybe it’s the intimacy of telling Marcus that’s getting to you. Might it be easier to stand at a pulpit and do a speech on how you feel? Direct. Factual even if the words aren’t confident.
Some Thursday night, three weeks after the ‘M’ word, you pull your car into the driveway beside your house…and sit. Headlights on, engine idle. Right now is the perfect time to freeze and stare out at the dust settled over the dashboard. You only move when knuckles rap on your window. Marcus, of course. His breath is as warm as his soul, fogging up the dirty glass.
You turn the car off, pulling the key from the ignition. He opens the door for you when you make a move to grab your bag.
“Hey,” he says. His voice is already laced with concern.
“Hi.”
“Are you okay?”
“What? Yeah. Just…thinking.”
Marcus glances at the empty driver’s seat. “In the car…with the engine running?”
“Got home a few minutes ago,” you say. You don’t know how long it’s been.
Marcus senses your fragile footing, redirecting the conversation. “Do you want to come over tonight?”
“I don’t know,” you say. The words are highlighted by a puff of white past your lips. “Been a long day.”
“I’m making roast chicken,” Marcus says, trying to entice you. “We can lay on the couch. I’ll give you a foot massage.” When he sees you aren’t biting, he adds, “We can watch Pacific Rim. Again.”
You smile as the slightest bit of fire sparks in your chest. “You’ve got a deal.”
Marcus waits at the front door as you collect Bender from your living room. Then he leads the way across the street, unlocking his own door and letting you in first. The cat in your arms leaps gracefully away, ready to find a new spot to nuzzle into.
After a hot shower alone, you feel more like a person. No length of time spent under the water is going to get rid of the guilt masquerading as hunger pains, though. Marcus is already working on dinner when you make your way downstairs. His waist apron hangs over his hips, crimson to match everything else; a thoughtless purchase on your part except for the mental image of him wearing it with that adorably taut face he makes when focusing.
Seeing that exact expression now as Marcus rubs margarine over the plucked, pink body of a whole chicken makes you laugh a little. He looks up at you, hearing the noise, a smirk pulling at his lips.
“You like what you see?” Marcus waggles his eyebrows suggestively.
“The sensual caressing of dead poultry?”
He makes a face. “When you put it like that…”
“I speak the truth, the whole truth—”
“And nothing but the truth. You forget that you’re dating a man of the law, y’know.”
“How could I forget?” you ask, coming up behind him. Wrapping your arms around his waist, you peer over the side of Marcus’ arm to watch him season the chicken with various spices on the counter. “You’re always here to protect me.”
“I’m glad you know that,” he says. “And I really mean always.”
Marcus can’t see the look of curious confusion that crosses your face. “Of course,” you mumble into his shoulder.
The chicken is placed on a baking pan lined with tinfoil before it disappears into the oven. Marcus washes his hands thoroughly, tossing everything into a sink of hot and soapy water before he finally embraces you. His hugs are a godsend. You melt into his arms and let yourself be held. Then, another twist of your organs. The feeling plagues you like heartburn, showing up at the worst of times. They don’t make Pepto-Bismol for shame, do they?
Marcus must feel you tense up, because he asks, “Alright. What’s wrong?”
Pulling back from the hug, he stares at you—the heat of a thousand carefully probing suns.
“Nothing’s wrong,” you say. Clearly he doesn’t buy it, taking in the way your eyes are starting to water like the Potomac.
“Well that’s just not true. Honey, please just… I want to help you.”
“I can’t move in with you,” you whisper. The first tear falls when you blink, a warm trail falling slowly down your cheek.
Marcus tilts his head. “What?”
“I can’t move in with you,” you repeat a little louder. “I’m not—I can’t.”
“That’s okay,” he says. “If you’re not ready—”
“It’s not about being ready,” you say, pulling yourself from his grasp. “It’s about…I don’t know. I love you. And that’s huge, and the last time I lived with someone I loved it ruined my life. I can’t do that with this. With us. I won’t.”
Marcus gently calls your name as you turn away from him, hands steady against the granite countertop. You can’t look at him. You’ve told the man you love that you can’t take the next step of further knitting your lives together. Of starting anew as a pair. There is no timeline to feed him. No amount of months given will tide him over because there's no expiry date on this feeling of yours. It simply is; there was a time before it existed, but you’re almost certain there will be no after.
That crawling specter of loneliness hasn’t haunted you for six whole months, and you would like to keep it that way. Even if the knowledge that you’re missing minute details about Marcus in your time across the street kills you the slightest bit; even if you want to show him that you’re all in on this, what your boyfriend doesn’t know is that you are a nuclear reactor. The disaster happened a long time ago, but the ground is still poisoned. The air is teeming with radiation even if he’s been slowly sipping the water.
You say, “I don’t know when I’m going to be ready.” Not now, if ever. Breaking your own goddamn heart.
“That’s okay,” Marcus says. “There’s no rush on it. You could take a million years. I’m still going to be here.” He takes you back into his arms, cradling your head against his body.
This doesn’t fix anything—doesn’t fix you, but you don’t want Marcus to do that anyway. For now, this works. Right now this is okay.

102 GENDER UNRESTRICTED DILF ELIMINATION!!!
narrowing the dilfs down to a somewhat workable bracket was, by far, the one of the most nerve-rackings things we've ever done. it has kept us up for nights. bickering in the mods video call over this has ripped this family to shreds. the bracket was longer, shorter, and longer again as we pulled dilfs from the abyss to set them down into the arena. absolutely gutted that we couldn't include everybody, but if your dilf isn't on the main bracket, do not fear. we will not leave a dilf out in the cold to die without honor. they will have their moment.
the dilfs were ranked and seeded based on a very intricate rubric and vibes that included number of nominations so if you see a heavy hitter in a lower bracket than you'd expect, you've nobody but your fellow man to blame.
the first round of dilf death match arena contenders are below the cut. we'll work our way down the bracket with new polls roughly every day. first round seeds like hannibal and bob belcher get a bye week, due to their incredible energy catapulting them into top seed contention, and will not appear until round 2.
happy hunting!
p.s. some of your entries, including those that did not make the cut, shook us to our core and will forever be ingrained into our dna. congrats

2008 Deckers Creek Water Quality Monitoring Data
Deckers Creek feeds into the Monongahela River in Morgantown, West Virginia. It was well known for acid mine drainage, and it was often the subject for students in WVU's environmental science and geology courses. Forest Conroy, one of my graduate students, did series of projects about Deckers Creek, including this time series for my data visualization class.
Tumblr media
A time series? There don't seem to be any time units. True, but take a look at the x-axis. Each labeled point is a location along Deckers Creek. The water is flowing left to right, so if you are following a particular water molecule, the x-axis does indeed represent time.
There are three graphs, each depicting a particular type of water quality measurement. Fecal Coliform is a bacteria found in the intestines that enters a water source by way of bodily excrement. You know, poop. WVSCI is the West Virginia Stream Condition Index score. pH measures the acidity of water.
Tumblr media
The pH Levels graph shows two values at each stream location: the average pH and the minimum pH. You want this range to always be between 6 and 9, the normal pH range, indicated by the tan shading. Where the red ribbon drops down into the white portion of the graph, it's too low. It's worst at Sabraton.
Tumblr media
The WVSCI score should be greater than 68 for the stream to be considered unimpaired. Again, the background shading indicates impaired and unimpaired ranges with a narrow "gray zone" between. Almost the entire creek is impaired.
Tumblr media
The Fecal Coliform graph has two ranges. The top range is where the water is clean enough to swim in. The bottom range is okay for fishing and boating, but you really don't want to get wet. Eeew. Notice that the y-axis of this graph is an ascending scale with zero at the top. That's the reverse of the other two graphs, which have zero at the bottom. The reason for this seeming inconsistency is that for fecal coliform, a lower value is better, whereas higher values are preferred in the other two graphs. By flipping the y-axis, the graphs are visually consistent, with good at the top and bad at the bottom.
So, don't go swimming between Kanes Creek and Kingwood Pike.

Chapter Sixty-Eight
Raven and Gina were already in the middle of arranging tools for their task when we arrived in the docking bay and Octavia and I busied ourselves with loading the van with supplies, both feeling content to get this trip over with as soon as possible.
We remained focused on the task at hand, until Bellamy arrived and called me over in his best attempt at a subtle manner and Octavia flashed me an interested look as I followed him from the room.
Before I could question him, he led me into a separate hallway where Kane was waiting for us.
“I’m sorry to pull you away from your work, but as council members, I thought you should know what’s happening.” He began, the serious expression that he wore causing a knot to form in my stomach and I waited with baited breath for an explanation.
“The Commander has made contact and offered us the chance to attend a summit today. Whilst you complete your delivery to Mount Weather, Abby and I will present our terms for an alliance.” He revealed, my back straightening up as my posture became alert and I glanced over at Bellamy to find that he was equally shocked at this sudden proposal.
“But - you said you needed my help for that?” I stuttered, realising that he intended to keep me occupied whilst this meeting happened and feeling a surge of anger that my supposedly important position might have been a farce. “You said that I would come with you once a meeting was arranged. I can translate, at the very least.” I argued, hurt that I was being closed out now that we had finally reached our goal and Kane smiled at me in a manner that hinted at his conflict.
“With all due respect, Sir, I’m not happy about this either. If things go wrong, you should have the best of the guard with you.” Bellamy interjected, seeming equally put out by being excluded and I noted with concern that his first thought was to expect that they might need to fight their way out.
“Bellamy. You’re still recovering from your last impulsive encounter with a grounder. Until I can be confident that you aren't going to repeat that behaviour, I can’t in good conscience take you into their capital city.” Kane explained, as Bellamy grimaced and shook his head in disagreement, but remarkably held his tongue.
“And unfortunately, Indigo, it is not my choice on whether to bring you. Your teacher is assisting us in this meeting and she has forbidden me from bringing you into Polis.” He added, causing my mouth to drop open in shock.
“What? Why?!” I gasped, an overwhelming feeling of confusion and betrayal washing over me and Kane fidgeted awkwardly on the spot, clearly uncomfortable that he had been put in this position.
“I didn’t ask. But I got the impression that it was important. She certainly didn’t say it simply to be cruel.” Kane described, sounding as if he knew more than he was letting on and I hissed under my breath in frustration.
“We can manage this. The Commander has proven herself to be reasonable and open to negotiation in the past. With Arlo’s support, I believe we could secure peace today. In the meantime, I’m trusting the two of you to assist in progressing the successful reintegration of Farm Station.” He added, fixing us both with meaningful looks and I rolled my eyes bitterly.
“Yeah, yeah. I hear you. You want us to butter up the bully, whilst you work on world peace.” I groaned, noticing a slight smile on Kane’s lips that he tried to hide.
“Come on, Bel. Let's get this over with.” I suggested, placing a hand on his arm to encourage him to follow me and we made our way to the Rover together, both silently sulking about our rejections.
During the drive to the Mountain, Bellamy filled in the others about the Summit and whilst they all chatted about the possible outcomes, Octavia and I held a silent conversation of our own with only expressions.
It was clear that she had noticed the tension between Bellamy and I, but I also knew that she understood why I was stressed by his recent behaviour. Having her with us was already more helpful than I had expected and I was able to relax somewhat at the thought that she would have my back if needed.
By the time that we arrived at our destination, Octavia was almost turning green from nausea and I had to stifle a laugh as she stumbled outside first. After immersing herself in grounder culture, it seemed that she’d lost her space legs and gained their dislike for any forms of transport other than horseback.
“I knew I should’ve taken my horse.” She groaned as she wobbled in an effort to reorient herself on the ground and I chuckled at her, whilst Gina hurried past us to check on Raven as she struggled out of the driver's seat.
Though the girls moved easily into unloading the Rover, Bellamy seemed distracted, staring out into the distance as if he hadn’t even noticed the movement around him.
I already knew exactly where his mind was, as mine was trapped in the same terrifying space and I wandered over to stand silently by his side.
We stood together without speaking for a few moments, both gazing in the direction of Polis and focusing on our own anxieties about the Summit. Though it seemed petty, I couldn’t help the niggling feeling that Bellamy had only wanted to join them in order to recover Clarke and I had to push the childish concern to one side.
“We should both be there.” He muttered finally, keeping his eyes trained in place and I sighed thoughtfully.
“Well, if you hadn’t chased after Clarke like a complete idiot, then you would be.” I responded accusingly, unable to contain the bitterness that was coursing through me and he turned to view me with a hurt expression.
“I’m sorry. I’m just tense. I don’t understand why Arlo doesn’t want me there. I know that I could help.” I admitted, crossing my arms defensively and he nodded his head in understanding.
“I get it. You think that you’re being punished for something too?” He enquired, viewing me with concern and I chewed on my lip as I considered this.
“I don’t know. Leaving her? Maybe she thinks that if I’m not going to live like a grounder, then I don’t get to play the part? It's hard to figure out Arlo’s motives.” I explained, still muddling through possibilities in my mind and the question continued to bother me.
I recalled the conversations that we had about Azgeda, the many times that she told me I was not ready for the dangers that we would find there. However, the last time I had seen her, she’d offered for me to be a part of her investigations and I had to wonder exactly what kind of threat was in Polis that she would consider worse than the Ice Nation betrayal.
“Kane’s right, though. You still need time to heal.” I added as I forced myself back into the present, flashing Bellamy a knowing look and he straightened up slightly, trying to correct his posture to hide the impact that his injury was still having on him.
“I’m fine. I’m ready to get back out there now.” He insisted, grabbing a bag from the back of the Rover to prove how capable he was, but I noticed a slight limp in his gait as he bought it over to me.
“Oh, really?” I asked innocently, raising my brows in disbelief as I offered him the chance to be honest with me and he gave me a stern nod in response.
My movements were too quick for him to anticipate as I reached out to jab him in the side and then much gentler at the stitches in his thigh. He yelped in pain, before dropping the bag to the ground with a thud and I crossed my arms again, as I fixed him with a scrutinising look.
“You can’t con a con-artist, baby.” I crooned, turning to load myself up with my own share of cargo. “When you’re ready to get back out there, you know that I’ll have your back against Kane and anyone else that tries to stop you. But you had better believe that if you try to do it any sooner, I will beat your ass. With love.” I clarified, smiling warmly at him despite his annoyed expression.
“You drive me insane. You know that, right?” He grumbled as he straightened back up and I simply chuckled at him.
“Of course. How else am I supposed to entertain myself?” I remarked, glancing around to check that we were all ready to go, before I returned my attention to him. “Think you missed one.” I teased, pointing to the bag that I’d made him drop and he finally cracked a smile as he loaded himself up.
“You guys. Did I ever tell you about how I saved Sinclair’s ass on the Ark.” Raven quipped, joining us with a large bag hanging on her shoulder in determination and it was clear that getting out of Arkadia with Gina had lifted her spirits.
“Please, don’t.” Octavia groaned in disinterest, strolling away before Raven could engage her in a conversation and I flashed her a look that told her to stop the negativity.
“You mean the time you went rogue on a spacewalk?” Gina chimed in, immediately indulging Raven with a keen attitude that was heart-warming to witness and Octavia quickly clocked on to my intentions as I observed them with a smug pout.
Bellamy strode ahead to lead the group, leaving Octavia and I to fall into step side by side immediately behind him and we purposely allowed the girls some space to enjoy each other's company. The Rover doors closed behind us and I could still overhear their conversation as they followed us inside.
“That depends on your definition of going rogue.” Raven answered, her voice lighter than it had been in a while and hearing it gave me a deep sense of satisfaction.
“Oh, really?” Gina responded flirtatiously, prompting Octavia to raise a brow at me sneakily and I risked a quiet giggle.
It was exciting to consider the way their relationship could develop and I hoped that I could count on seeing Raven smile like she was now more often.
“I just hopped on a robotic arm and aimed it at the solar array.” Raven clarified, clearly enjoying herself as she recounted the details of the story with enthusiasm and I smiled at Octavia fondly.
“I wish they’d bang already.” Octavia groaned in Trig, rolling her eyes dramatically and I scoffed at how unchanged her attitude was towards anyone hesitating to get together.
“Hey. Not everyone moves as quickly as you. Plus, she went through a trauma. It’s gonna take time for her to be ready to try again. I’m just glad to see her happy.” I pointed out defensively, referring back to all of the times that she had pressured me when I first confessed to my feelings for Bellamy and Octavia softened her expression.
“I know. She deserves it.” She admitted carefully, the remorse in her expression revealing that she was likely thinking about Finn too and I nodded in agreement.
“Shof op.” [Quiet.] Bellamy remarked as he glanced back at us, only to be met with glares from us both for his rudeness. “You’re like a couple of gossiping old women.” He added, cracking a smile and I pouted, annoyed that he could tell we were up to no good despite his limited understanding of Trigedasleng.
Whilst Raven and Gina continued chatting happily behind us obliviously, I became aware of the sound of distant music and laughter, and felt my stomach drop with dread. It grew louder as we closed in on the dining room that Farm Station had been assigned to and as we turned the corner to the open doors, we were met with a scene of celebration.
A host of Farm Station inhabitants were filling the tables, indulging in a luxurious meal with music blaring around them in a joyous environment.
I felt sick as I took in the situation and the feeling only worsened as I noticed Pike sitting at the top table. He had conveniently placed himself in the seat where the President once would usually preside over his residents and as he noticed our arrival, he regarded us with the same dishonest gaze that Dante has always given us.
Pike rose to his feet with an unnaturally warm smile and held out his arms in a strange gesture.
“Welcome!” He announced as he began to approach us and I found myself clenching my jaw to contain my emotions.
“Come, join us.” He offered enthusiastically to which only Bellamy moved any further into the space, but I couldn’t bring myself to react at all, hesitating on the spot with the other three girls.
“Someone’s made themselves at home.” Raven muttered under her breath and I was glad to find that it wasn’t only Octavia and I that felt uncomfortable with this. It seemed strangely morbid to revel in the mountain's comfort when it had been a mass grave mere months ago.
“Natronas.” [Traitors.] Octavia spat under her breath, the fury that rose in her also bubbling in my stomach and I nudged her side subtly in support.
“Don’t let him make you lose your cool.” I warned, meeting her eyes with a meaningful expression and I waited for her to release a long breath, before encouraging her to step forward with me.
By now, I expected that Pike was already aware of both Octavia and I’s involvement with the grounders and after my previous outburst, I was cautious not to allow him any more ammunition to paint us as savages. The delicate balance here was obvious and it was important to ensure that the power remained where it should, with our current leaders who understood the need for peace.
“There must be thirty of them in here.” Octavia remarked as we reached Bellamy, attempting to gauge his reaction and although he seemed somewhat concerned, I could tell that he was not comprehending the impact of this as we were.
“Thirty-six, but the more, the merrier.” Pike responded cheerfully, oblivious to our disdain and Bellamy parted from us to greet him with a handshake.
The way that the two men smiled at each other made my stomach lurch and it took all of my self control to prevent the disgust from reaching my face. Though I tried to remind myself that Bellamy had a different impression of him to me, every time that Pike looked at my lover made my skin crawl.
“Thirty-six? Wow.” Octavia stated, the disapproval clear in her voice and I knew in that moment that it would be my responsibility to be the responsible one of us today. “The grounders are gonna think we moved in.” She added, forcing a tight smile after and Bellamy glanced back at us over his shoulder.
His gaze was a clear warning as he met Octavia’s eyes. He then turned to me as if wordlessly reminding me that it had been my idea to bring her along and I simply shrugged, unable to pretend that I didn’t agree with her sentiment.
“Well, there was no room at the Inn.” Pike excused, leaning past Bellamy to meet Octavia’s eyes with a charming smile, but she remained stern faced, demonstrating that she would not be fooled by him.
“And this is your option?” She interrogated, unwilling to drop this fight just yet and I noticed Bellamy’s shoulders tense at her attitude. She was damaging his pristine reputation and I could tell that he wanted to maintain his air of control around Pike.
“O.” Bellamy drawled, glancing over his shoulder at her again impatiently and she sighed, before sneaking an apologetic peek at me.
“I’m outta here.” She announced, dropping her bags into my hands with annoyance and turning to storm out without another word.
“Tavi!” I called after her, keen to encourage her to stay, but she ignored my cries as she stomped down the hall toward the exit, leaving me caught between the two siblings again.
Before I could make a decision on who to support, Pike gave Bellamy a wide smile that made the hair on the back of my neck stand on end and I resolved to stick with my earlier plan to never leave him alone with Bellamy.
“Spirited.” Pike commented idly as he watched Octavia leave, causing Bellamy to nod dismissively in response and I couldn’t prevent myself from butting into their conversation.
“She’s not spirited. She’s right. We've survived this long because of our truce with the grounders. Like it or not, your group being here endangers that.” I pointed out, causing the smile to fade from his face and as I caught sight of Bellamy’s expression, I softened my voice.
“People died here. Lots of people. Many of our own were held captive and tortured inside of this facility, including me. This may be a great place for you, but try to respect that it’s a painful memory for some of us, not just the grounders.” I reminded him and though I was sure that Bellamy would prefer me to simply be friendly, I caught a hint of pride in the way that he smiled at me.
“I understand. My apologies.” Pike answered, his voice completely void of any authenticity as he returned to his political act and I forced a polite smile in response.
“I’m gonna go check on O.” Bellamy announced, relieving me from the strain of remaining at Pike’s side and I nodded gratefully.
“I think that’s a good idea. I’ll see if Raven and Gina need any help.” I reported, keen to make my escape and Bellamy caught me off guard by bending down to kiss my cheek before he left.
Though I knew that it was likely meant as a subtle way of telling me that he was proud of me for keeping my cool, I felt uncomfortable that Pike had witnessed it.
When I turned to seek out the girls, I noticed that Pike was now studying me with interest and I rushed out of the dining hall before he could say anything to cause me to lash out.

The gentle teaching methods that Knox had used to train me to help out in mechanical had done little to prepare me for working with Raven. Though I’d asked for simple tasks that could lighten her workload, her perfectionist nature made even that next to impossible and if it wasn’t for Gina playing the mediator, I was pretty sure that I’d have punched her by now.
It was a relief when Sinclair arrived to tell us that we were being called to a priority mission and we wasted no time in dropping our tools to follow him.
My mind was already racing with scenarios as we raced through the halls and lights flickered on and off all around us due to our unfinished work.
“Why the hell are they calling us off?” Raven questioned, moving ahead to walk alongside Sinclair, and Gina and I followed, listening carefully for any insight that we could gain. “I’ve got tripped circuits all over the grid.”
“Oh, whatever it is, it supersedes fixing the power problem.” Sinclair responded with frustration and his words caused my stomach to drop.
When we’d left this morning, Kane had made it clear that keeping Farm station happy was a top priority and I couldn’t imagine anything positive being important enough to change that.
“Hey. Try not to panic.” Gina remarked quietly and I turned my attention to her with confusion. “I know that face. Whatever it is, we’ll manage it. We always do.” She asserted with a reassuring smile and I sighed, disappointed that I was so easy to read nowadays.
“That’s easier said than done. Anything happening on the day of the Summit can only spell bad news.” I mumbled, feeling dread already gathering in my chest and she nodded in understanding.
As we rushed toward the dining hall, a spark exploded out of a nearby socket and both Sinclair and Raven paused to check that it could be made safe. Unable to wait any longer for answers, I rushed ahead and jogged my way into the hall to find Bellamy, Octavia and Pike surrounding an unfamiliar grounder.
“White war paint.” I stated, identifying her clan the moment that I got a clear look at her and she glanced up at me, thinning her eyes in interest. “Who is this? And why are we holding her?” I interrogated, turning to face the two men suspiciously and Bellamy shifted on the spot.
“This is Echo. The one I told you about, she helped me when I was trying to get you all out of the mountain.” He explained, seeming especially awkward about repeating this in front of Octavia and Pike, and I turned to examine her much more closely now, both of us seeming to be getting the measure of each other.
“You didn’t mention that she was Ice Nation.” I remarked, keeping my eyes trained on her and she seemed somewhat alarmed by my perceptiveness.
“Honestly, I didn’t know how to tell the difference when we met.” Bellamy confessed, shrugging apologetically as he spoke. “She came to tell us that the Summit is a trap. Our people are in danger.” He explained in a rushed manner and though I whipped around to face him in shock, Pike interrupted before I could get another word out.
“You’re one of them. So, why are you telling us this?” Pike grilled, glaring down at Echo aggressively and though I was also on edge with the situation, I didn’t appreciate his intimidating behaviour to our possible ally.
“We abandoned Skaikru in the battle for the mountain.” Echo answered, returning Pike’s eye contact with no fear, then she turned to face Bellamy with guilt in her eyes. “It was wrong.” She added, earning a subtle nod of appreciation from him and at least a hint of my respect for admitting this.
“And won’t they miss you?” Pike suggested, leaning closer into her in an attempt to frighten her and her posture grew tense, making it clear that she was losing patience with his distrustful attitude.
“Maybe.” She answered sharply, glancing up at him with disdain and I watched her closely for any signs of deceit. “But that’s why we need to hurry.” She confirmed, scanning each of us impatiently and I was unable to tell whether she seemed genuine.
“Pike. She saved my life. We can trust her.” Bellamy asserted, his voice remarkably certain and though I was pleased to see him standing up to Pike, I couldn’t help an uneasy feeling at how quickly he had trusted this Ice Nation soldier.
Though I wanted to raise my concerns, I decided to wait until Pike couldn’t hear us so that I didn’t undermine Bellamy. It had been hard to convince him to trust the grounders in the first place and I definitely didn’t want to give Pike a chance to jump on my doubt, or to use it to manipulate Bellamy.
“Listen up.” Bellamy announced as Sinclair, Gina and Raven finally arrived in the dining hall. “If we want to get to Polis before the attack, we have to move.” He ordered, as I noticed all of the guns that were being unpacked around us and began to feel the stress of this threat pushing down on me.
“Attack?” Sinclair questioned, staring at Bellamy in wide eyed disbelief and I was glad that he had arrived to add another voice of reason to the room. “Do we have confirmation of that?” He enquired, glancing between us worriedly and I looked over at Bellamy for an answer.
“We radioed, but no answer.” He revealed and I pushed my hair out of my face to rub at my temples. This was certainly not the result that I’d hoped for and knowing that Pike and the others weren’t responding only added to the urgency of the situation.
“They may already be dead for all we know.” Pike suggested, attempting to rile the group into a frenzy and I jumped in to cut him off.
“No way. Arlo would have got them out.” I argued, noticing that Echo perked up at this name and resolved to follow this up later. “Indra wouldn’t allow anyone to harm them either. They have allies in there. Kane was extremely cautious since we moved this lot in. He might not have wanted to take any technology inside.” I theorised, attempting to find a less disastrous reason for their lack of contact and Pike scoffed loudly at my comments.
“We can’t possibly know that! The grounders they were meeting might even be involved. They could already have killed our people and if they have, we need to be ready to respond.” Pike exclaimed, pushing at my fragile self control and I moved closer to face him down.
“Oh, I’m sure you’d love that. Any reason to start a fight with them.” I accused, squaring my shoulders as I spoke and as he opened his mouth to defend himself, I spoke over him. “What is it you called yourselves when you came across our first group? Grounder killers, wasn’t it?” I recalled, making him squirm in response and he turned to appeal to Sinclair instead.
“We can’t allow this to go unanswered.” He stated firmly, as if he were already certain that a crime had been committed and I was relieved when Sinclair refused to shrink under his aggressive behaviour.
“Don’t make this about the missiles.” Sinclair answered evenly, holding Pike’s gaze with confidence and I felt my heart skip a beat as I processed his words.
“This is about survival!” Pike defended passionately and fire began to rise from the pit of my stomach at this new development. “We don’t have the numbers, but the missiles in this mountain even the playing field and you know I’m right.”
“Why are we even talking about missiles? You want to blow up the place where our people are, just in case they’re dead? Are you completely insane?!” I yelled, my voice rising out of my control and everyone around me jumped at my sudden outburst, causing me to lower my voice before I spoke again. “This mountain has already annihilated too many grounder villages and you're seriously considering bombing their capital? How is that going to help anything? We’d just become the same as the monsters that we fought out of this place.”
“Indigo’s right. We shouldn’t be discussing measures like this. We need to focus on saving our people.” Gina piped up, helping to break the tension in the air and when I met her eyes, she gave me a supportive smile.
“Even if I did agree with you, we still don’t have the launch codes. So let’s focus on what we can do.” Sinclair argued and for a moment, I felt relieved that Pike’s tirade had come to an end, before Raven stepped in to reopen the argument.
“No, but we have me.” She announced, as I rolled my eyes at her in disappointment, but my expression was nothing next to Sinclair, who just stared at her with blatant annoyance for several moments.
“And you accuse engineers of arrogance?” He questioned under his breath as he approached her, his firm gaze expressing the many criticisms that he refrained from saying aloud and I gained a new respect for him, as he refused to be bullied into rash action.
“I’m growing as a person.” She shrugged carelessly, before wandering off with Gina at her side and Sinclair following closely behind, shaking his head in disbelief.
“Let’s go.” Pike growled in a low, threatening voice as he pulled Echo from her seat and I was on him before I’d even decided what I would say.
“Get your hands off her!” I spat, barging him backwards and placing myself between them. “You’ve made your feelings on grounders abundantly clear today. If you think that I’m leaving you alone with one, you’re even more unstable than I thought.” I stated, holding my position to shield her from his reach as I turned my face to Octavia.
“I can’t come with you. Watch this man like your life depends on it, because it very well might. Keep an eye on your idiot brother for me too. I can’t handle him sulking his way through another injury. And don’t forget that she is from Azgeda.” I blurted, noticing that Pike’s eyes widened as he realised that I could also speak Trig and Octavia nodded keenly back at me.
“Don’t worry. I know a snake when I see one.” She answered, glancing at Pike with a smirk and I was relieved that she didn’t hesitate to support me. “And I’m always careful. If she’s up to something, I’ll find out. Besides, she knows that she can’t hide anything in Trig now.” She added, glancing back at Echo who was assessing us both with surprise, before Octavia stepped behind me to move her out of Pike’s reach far more gently than he had.
“Octavia will manage her. You can go.” I stated coldly, as he glanced over at Bellamy for support and when he didn’t receive it, he reluctantly left us.
“You’re not happy with this plan?” Bellamy suggested, approaching me with a concerned look and I sighed thoughtfully, glad that we could finally discuss this situation alone.
“I don’t know. Something doesn’t feel right. I just can’t figure out what.” I admitted, glancing up at him nervously and he furrowed his brows. “Just be careful not to be blindsided. I completely understand why you trust Echo, but try to remember that she is Azgeda. We don’t know how long she’d been locked up for when you met her, but now she’s been home for a while. Her loyalties will have changed. We’ve never been good at getting ahead of their plans and we don’t know if she’s part of their agenda somehow. She may not even know if she is.” I suggested as I desperately tried to consider every possible outcome, rubbing at my temples in stress and he pushed my hands away to cup my face.
“We’ll be careful, Inds. Eyes wide open. Nothing gets past you.” He promised, placing a kiss on my forehead and I sighed guiltily at his words. He thinned his eyes at me, realising that something was off and I glanced up sadly up at him, feeling immensely torn between commitments. “You’re not coming, are you?”
“Someone has to stay behind and make sure that they don’t blow up Polis. Besides, I’m not allowed in, remember? If they’re okay in there, Arlo will just be angry that I came.” I divulged, feeling immensely pressured by this responsibility and he smiled at me with understanding. “Please be safe. I know the stakes are high and that usually brings out your hero streak, but I’m gonna need you to be sensible. Pike’s already a loose cannon with a grudge against grounders. You don’t need any more risks.” I clarified, feeling as if it was impossible to know the right decision between staying here and joining them to keep an eye on Pike.
“I’ll keep things under control. Octavia will watch Echo and I can watch Pike. Have faith, Love. We’ll bring our people back.” He assured, caressing my face comfortingly and I tried my hardest to believe in him. “You just make sure no one here blows us up.” He added teasingly and I couldn't stop myself from smiling as he pulled me into a kiss.

~The 100 Master~
*Based off episode 3x08 of the 100, Terms and Conditions*
Bellamy and Pike made their way up the lookout tower to where Hannah was stationed, looking out over the wall. “Sir, we lost contact with one of the recon teams.” She told them when they were up. Bellamy shook his head, sighing deeply.
“There were four men.” He reminded Pike who spared him a glance before Hannah continued talking. She explained what she believed was happening, the blockage being established as well as the missing recon team engaging in the grounders, they found less than a mile outside the camp.
Another man on lookout interrupted their conversation, getting the three to look out at 2 grounders approaching in the distance. “They have a message; I’ve seen this before.” Bellamy told Pike who stood confused before shouting to the men below him to open the gate.
The grounders arrived at the gate, Bellamy on the ground to greet them. Their masks sat heavy on their faces, covering their mouths as they directed their horses into place. “We seek the one you call Pike.” One of them said as Bellamy stared them down. “An army has fallen, blood soaking the earth where he took their lives.”
“Welcome to the war against Skaikru.” Bellamy told them bitterly. The grounders demanded justice, telling them their justice came in the form of Pike’s death. But Pike wasn’t going to give his life up to some grounders.
“By order of the Commander, you have been surrounded by an army of the 12 clans. If anyone attempts to cross the blockade, warriors wait to kill.” As if to prove their point, they dropped a sack, inside the heads of the missing recon team following out. “We’ll greet them as we did those we caught today.”
Bellamy’s eyes were somewhat wide as he looked between the grounders and the heads by their feet. Pike tried to get Bellamy to fall back inside the walls, weary of the fate that currently affected the two of them speaking to the grounders, but Bellamy just shook his head. “They won’t leave.”
“Choose the side that’s best for your people!” One of the grounders spoke solidly as Bellamy took a second, his hand resting on top his gun.
“I do that everyday.” He mumbled seconds before shooting two bullets, each one going in a grounders head. They fell against the back of their horses with a thud as the animals took off, the recently deceased bodies laying on top of them. “Close the gate!” Bellamy yelled to the men operating the door when he turned around, heading back inside.
The mess hall was fairly empty as you sat there, running your finger over the rim of a glass when Raven took the seat across from you. She didn’t say anything, just sitting there with a content smile, making you uncomfortable. “What can I do for you Raven?”
“More like what can I do for you.” She replied as you raised a brow, taking another swig of the drink in front of you. She just sat there, that same look on her face despite your apparent discomfort. “Do you still have that chip Jaha gave you?”
Your eyes widened before you narrowed them, leaning onto the table to get closer to her. “How did you know about that?” She just shrugged, scooting forward in her seat.
“Have you thought about taking it?” She asked rather innocently, trying to move past your question.
“I haven’t.” You told her, stretching out the words with curiosity before the smile on her face finally made sense. “Raven, for the love of god please tell me you didn’t take it.”
Her grin only widened as she nodded. “I did.” You fell silent, not sure what to do before clearing your throat. You asked her, making sure no one could hear, how she felt. “Amazing. The pain in my leg is gone, Y/N. I feel unstoppable.”
In all honesty, she made it sound comforting. Jaha said it would erase your pain, and now if she truly took the chip you could ask her. Maybe you erase the recent pain of knowing Lexa was gone. You opened your mouth to speak, but instead of words coming out, you heard two gunshots coming from the front gate. “What the hell?” you asked, glancing to where a few people were leaving as you stood up. Raven just stayed put when you turned back to her. “Are you coming?” you asked as she shook her head. You shuddered before leaving her at the metal table alone and heading out of the mess hall.
Raven watched you race out as she tapped her fingers against the surface. A presence, unseen to the rest, hovered over her, watching you as well. “Keep trying.” A.L.I.E. said. “She’ll join eventually.” Raven nodded, getting up and heading out of the mess hall using the other door.
The sun hit your eyes as you blocked it, finding a crowd of people talking frantically. You only heard bits and piece of their conversation, but from the sound of it, a blockade was put around the camp and Bellamy shot two grounders.
“Y/N!” You heard shouted behind you as you spun around seeing Kane motioning for you from the Ark ship. You took one last listen to the group before jogging to catch up to Kane. “Do you know what happened?” you told him what you knew as he chewed on his nail, his pace increasing momentarily before realizing he was gaining unwanted attention.
You entered Kane’s room, taking a seat on his bed as if it was normal. Kane sat at the table, his leg bouncing. In the silence, you couldn’t help as your thoughts wondered, and of course the first place they went was to Bellamy. You didn’t know if you regretted sleeping with him. It all happened so fast and you weren’t at all expecting it. Kane glanced up at you, seeing you taut brows.
“What are you thinking about?” He asked, rubbing his beard with his hand. You groaned lightly, the crease in your forehead never leaving.
Nothing… Everything?” you admitted.
Kane took a shot in the dark. “Bellamy?”
You groaned louder, pressing the palm of your hands against your eyes. “I’m not having this talk right now.” You told him as you sat up onto your elbows, glaring at him playfully. Kane just chuckled at you, raising his hands in the air. “It doesn’t matter, there are more important things to worry about.” You believed your words truly. Bellamy just signed the blockade death order and here you were worried about sleeping with him.
“That’s not true. Come on, tell me what’s on your mind.” He seemed genuine as you hesitated, moving to sit up.
“I don’t want to have the dad talk, okay? But I will tell you.” He felt a weight in his stomach at your words, seeing the way this was affecting you. He nodded, letting you take the floor. “I slept with Bellamy.”
“Oh.” He went into shock. He didn’t know how to reply to that at all.
You rubbed your arm gingerly, already ready for a change in conversation as the door swung open, Miller and Harper rushing in. Harper looked between the two of you, seeing the look on your faces. “Did we interrupt something?” she asked kindly.
Kane wanted to say yes, he felt protective of you when he heard of you and Bellamy, despite the knowledge you wouldn’t want him to feel like this.
“No, you didn’t.” you almost shouted as you scurried off the bed, happy the two came in at that moment. Miller didn’t see anything wrong as he sat next to Kane, pulling out the radio.
“Pike’s in another meeting.” You and Harper exchanged glances, moving to sit on the bed together. Miller turned the radio on and right away you could hear Pike’s voice, making you roll your eyes. They were talking about trust, not being able to trust anyone outside of the room they’re in. You listened as Pike put Monroe and Lacroix’s deaths on you all, unknowingly of course. He wanted you all pay, no matter how.
The meeting ended as the listening device was turned off. “If they’re gonna play that game, we’ll play too.” Kane said as you bit your lip, your brows taking permanent residence in a furrowed position.
“What do you mean?”
Kane turned to look at you. “We don’t meet here anymore. We change patterns, forget habits. Assume there are eyes on us at all times.”
Harper scoffed. “Why don’t we just shock-lash Pike’s fascist ass then give him to the grounders?” Harper suggested. You found yourself chuckling and nudged Harper, getting her to grin slightly.
Kane glared at you as your smile fade like a kid being chastised. “Because that would be murder, not to mention treason. That’s not who we are.” Your eyes slowly pulled up, feeling that last sentence was meant specifically for you, and by the way Kane was looking at you, it was.
“Maybe it’s who we need to be.” You whispered sharply, Harper and Miller looking between the two of you as Kane said not yet. “Fine. Then I assume you have a plan?”
You spent the rest of the afternoon in a different room waiting for Octavia to radio in, switching channels every so often in case she was on those. Kane came in after a while of you being alone, seeing you seated crisscross on a table. Your eyes were somewhat closed as you absentmindedly scanned through the channels, just waiting for some sign Octavia was out there. Kane pulled a blanket around your shoulders, and you gave him a lazy smile, leaning your elbow onto your knee and pressing your chin in your palm.
“Any luck?” he asked as you shook your head, pushing the radio away.
“If she’s out there, she’s not on.” He nodded as you curled into the blanket.
“So, do you want to talk about earlier?” he seemed uncomfortable as you tilted your head, unsure of what he was talking about. “Bellamy?” You made an ‘o’ shape with your mouth as you realized what he was getting at. He didn’t know how to begin this conversation and by the awkward look on your face, neither did you. But he needed to know how to protect you. “So, you slept with him.”
“Yeah?” You didn’t mean for it to come out as a question, but that didn’t change the fac it did.
“… Do you have feelings for him?” This was as awkward for you as it was for Kane and you knew it.
“I said I didn’t want to have the dad talk.” You reminded him as he nodded.
“I know, but for me?” He almost pouted his lip as you groaned.
“I don’t know Kane. Right now, it’s complicated. I just want to get past this whole thing with Pike. Then I’ll discuss the fact I’m in love with him.”
Well shit. You’re in love with him.
You hoped Kane didn’t catch your words but by the way the color drained from his face, he heard you. There was a knock on the door before it swung open, Harper and Miller entering to yet another awkward conversation.
“Anyone followed?” Kane asked, seeing the gears in your mind turning and the crisis in your eyes. Miller said he was fine before everyone took a seat, hearing Pike in another meeting.
They were planning a plan B, the ammo they have not being enough for many fights. Their new plan consisted of an assault team doing damage to a grounder encampment not far away from you all. Your heart sped up in fear as you listened, knowing that the retaliation of this attack would be stronger than you’ve ever experienced.
“We need to disable that rover. It doesn’t matter how many Grounders they kill, 10 times that will attack on Arkadia. No one will survive.” Kane told you all as the radio cut out. Harper spoke up, asking him if he had any idea what to do. Kane paused, thinking for a second before an idea came to mind.
Little did you know, Pike found your bug.
You took a walk through the hangar, coming to a stop and leaning against the wall. From across the room you saw Kane sitting in a chair, thumbing through a book as he glanced up at you. You pressed the com in your ear, turning it on and sending a soft nod towards Kane before focusing on Sinclair. He had just slid under a car, beginning his fake job when you saw Bellamy walk into the room. He started towards Sinclair as you spoke into the com.
“Sinclair, Bellamy’s coming your way.” Sinclair quickly pulled the com out of his ear, shoving it into his pocket. Bellamy caught your eyes from across the room as you ducked away, making him pause when he realized you where in on whatever was happening. He took a look around the room, seeing Kane reading his book before stopping at Sinclair.
“Sinclair, what are you up to?” He asked as Sinclair slid out from the rover and came to stand on his feet. Sinclair lied to him, telling Bellamy Raven told him the solenoid was acting up. Bellamy nodded, pretending to listen. “You got a work order for that?”
You watched from behind a stack of shelves, on alert as Bellamy glanced over Sinclair’s shoulders, seeing you worried. “Sure I think it’s on my desk.” Not a moment later, Sinclair took off running. In your head, you told yourself it was all part of the plan, but deep down something felt off. Almost like something was going to go wrong.
As you watched Sinclair run off, you tried to get a guess on the amount of people Pike had working for him before you realized you lost track of Bellamy. You were about to make a move to find him before you heard Kane’s shouts coming from his side of the room. You eyes shot to the predicament, seeing Kane holding back some new guard who tried to stop Sinclair with his shock baton.
No one expected that to happen for the moment his arms was in the arm to strike Sinclair, Kane was on him, holding him back. But unfortunately for Kane, that put him in the crossfire. He was going to get arrested.
Now that was not part of the plan.
You watched the men grab Kane and Sinclair’s hands, pulling them behind their backs as Hannah conducted the arrest. You needed to help him. You didn’t know how or what you were going to do but you needed to help him. The plan relied on him not being incarcerated.
You barely got your first step in before a hand grabbed your upper arm, pulling you back. Worried it was someone meant to arrest you, you spun around with your fist in the air to punch them. Yet when you turned around it was just Bellamy and he caught your fist.
“Don’t.” He told you, glaring into your eyes. You didn’t know what he was talking about until his eyes flickered. You followed them, seeing Kane glance back at you briefly as he was being led away.
That’s when realization dawned on you. “You know.” You whispered barely loud enough for it to be coherent. Bellamy was unfazed, his grip on you not faltering in the utmost. You turned slowly, making Bellamy slightly uneasy by the way you looked at him with narrowed eyes. “You know.” You repeated.
He swallowed back his nerves, pulling you to the side and out of anyone’s line of sight. “Y/N, just listen.”
You tried to pull your arm from him, ripping his fingers away from your skin. “Don’t touch me! Don’t you fucking touch me!” You didn’t care if Bellamy was trying to help you, you wanted to help Kane and Bellamy was making that hard.
“Y/N, I couldn’t-“
“You know what happens when they arrest Kane!” You interrupted him, pushing against his chest to separate yourself from him. “You know what’s going to happen to Sinclair! You know Lincoln is gonna be killed!” Bellamy didn’t fight back your pushes, but he didn’t let you go so easily, making you look into his eyes. Bellamy couldn’t tell if you were crying or just shouting at him, but either way it hurt him. Your pushes slowed to a stop, and Bellamy loosened his grip, see your E/C eyes moving up to look at him. “You knew I would be…”
Arrested? Sentenced to death for treason? Why not, it’s what they did on the Ark.
Bellamy nodded. “I wasn’t going to let you get arrested again.” His hands moved down your arms until he could hold your hands, your fingers lazily entangling his.
You took a deep breath, looking at your hands. The sight put you into a trance before reality snapped you back and you tore your hands away, taking a few steps back with a shake of your head. “Well hooray for you Bellamy, saving the damsel. There’s just one problem. I don’t need you to save me.”
Bellamy watched you stormed off; your eyes locked on the ground with the extra pound in your step. Bellamy didn’t know how to handle this. He knew there were no winners here. And he knew you weren’t going to give up that easily. Without a second thought, he slammed his hand against the wall, the noise attracted some people’s stares, but he paid them no mind, walking straight past them.
Miller and Harper met back in the room. Harper was pacing around the room as Miller sat on the couch, leaning forward onto his knees. “Did you see Y/N?” Harper asked, looking to the door every few seconds in hopes you’d walk in.
“After everything, I didn’t. She get arrested?” Miller asked after the 10th minute of you not showing up.
“Oh god!” Harper’s eyes went wide as she stopped pacing, falling into a chair. You finally reached the door, knocking once before throwing the door open. Both teens were on their feet as you busted inside, out of breath and leaning against the door.
“It’s just me!” You told them, putting your hands out. Harper pulled you in for a hug, a surprise for you as you hugged back. Miller gave you one as well, a even more shock as you regained your breath. “I kept feeling like someone was following me.” You told them, running your hand through your hair.
“What happened?” Harper asked.
“They got Kane too.” They both stood silent, contemplating what to do before Miller looked to you.
“So, what now?” They both looked towards you, it was as if they expected you to just hop into Kane’s position. But you weren’t Kane.
You had no idea what to do.
You took a second and a breath. “We keep going. Do the plan. It’s on us now.”
Meanwhile, Bellamy took to questioning Kane, but he wasn’t getting very far. “Come on Kane. Talk.” Kane stayed silent, cocking his brow at Bellamy who sighed, falling into a chair. “Then do it for Y/N. Think of Y/N.” It seemed to catch Kane’s attention as he shifted in his seat, his arms crossing in front of him and his jaw setting. After Kane’s silence stretched, Bellamy slammed his hand down on the table, standing up and leaving the room. Kane waited for the door to slam behind him before he took a deep breath.
Think of Y/N? That’s all ever does nowadays.
Bellamy stormed out of the room, Pike and Hannah talking as he approached them. “Any luck?” Pike asked but Bellamy denied such luck, saying that both Sinclair, who similar to Kane wouldn’t say a word, and Kane would speak soon and to put them both in lock up.
“On the ark, we would’ve floated traitors.” Hannah spoke up, gaining both men’s attentions. Bellamy gulped was Pike cut her off.
“We’re not on the ark.” He said before demanding the men be locked up.
Monty took it upon himself to check over the river, noting that there wasn’t a thing wrong with it. His mom watched him, listening to his grief about everything before telling him the only right choice is the one that helps you survive.
Bryan was used as a spy in his own room as he opened the door, seeing Miller staying there. They talked, shared a lot of kisses, but Bryan’s mind was elsewhere. Instead of being focused on his boyfriend, all he could think about was how he was going to be betraying him. They fought about Pike, as usual before Bryan set off, tossing Miller his coat with the planted bug before leaving.
“The bug’s in place?” Bellamy asked Bryan as he walked into the room him and Monty were sat in. Bryan averted his eyes, nodding solemnly as he thought of his boyfriend.
“It’s in his jacket. I don’t think he knows.” Bellamy pulled his lips into a thin line of a smile, sending it towards Bryan when he called him a good man. Bryan just furrowed his brows. “Am I? Is this worth lying to someone I love?”
“It is if you’re protecting him.” Bellamy countered but Bryan just shook his head, meeting his harsh gaze.
“Unless I’m the one he needs protection from.” Bryan mumbled he tugged on the sleeve of his jacket. “I assume you put a bug on your girlfriend then?” Monty who stood by silently through the whole ordeal saw Bellamy clench his jaw at the mention of you in such tone.
“Let’s go tell Pike.” Monty suggested, pulling the two men out of their staring contest and Bryan and Monty turned to leave. Bellamy though, took a second, beginning to reconsider his side momentarily. He could never put a bug on you, no matter who’s side he’s on. So maybe he knew he was on the wrong side.
Tensions in lock up were high with Sinclair, Kane and Lincoln as well many grounders. Sinclair walked along the wall to where Kane was before settling onto the ground next to him. “You weren’t supposed to be in here.” He mumbled quietly.
“No, my good friend, I was not.” Kane eyed the guards, seeing them switch their shifts as he rested his head back against the cold wall behind him.
“So, what now?” Sinclair asked him. Kane thought about it, seeing Bellamy leave the room and sighing.
“We keep going.”
When time came, the one you decided earlier, Sinclair called Bellamy back into the cell telling him Sinclair was ready to talk. As for you, you went searching for Pike, finding him in the Hangar bay.
“Thanks for meeting me.” You told him, standing in front of him. Pike nodded, a small surprised look on his face.
“I’ll be honest, I thought Kane would’ve spoken to me first.”
You scoffed, biting the inside of your cheek. “Well, he’s kind of arrested. Guess I’ll have to do.”
“I hope you’re ready to negotiate the terms of your surrender.” You had to hold back another scoff as you looked at the chancellor.
Bellamy approached the bars to lock up, coming to where Sinclair stood. “You’re ready you talk?” He asked Sinclair who agreed, questioning what Bellamy wanted to know. “Everything.”
You crossed your arms in front of you. “Kane told me a little about you.” You said, referring to conversations you’ve had to set your plan in place, really you just needed to remember the points Kane was going to make to stall time. “He said on the ark you were a teacher telling kids about our future. The responsibility of being on the ground. So why, Pike, are you taking this side?”
“We didn’t start this war, but we will damn sure finish it.” He started to walk past you but you stopped him.
“You should’ve lost that vote, Chancellor.” Pike didn’t miss your use of venom in his title. You were angry, a chancellors job is protect their people not sign their death certificates.
“But I didn’t. Because I know what’s best for us.”
“You’re gonna get everyone killed. Can’t you see that?”
“What do you know? You’re a child.” He finally pushed past you but you weren’t letting up, yelling after him.
“And yet I know more about surviving down here than you do. Than any of you do.” You knew the time was coming if Sinclair had succeeded so as you yelled at him, you ran after, standing only a feet away.
Sinclair began bargaining with Bellamy, asking for immunity as Lincoln began pacing behind him. “The cowards make a deal to save their own skins.” He muttered, eying Sinclair and Bellamy’s conversation. Bellamy taking a more authoritative stance told him to be quiet, but he didn’t listen. “Can’t defeat the enemy at the gate so you turn on your own people.” Bellamy ordered him to be silent one more time but Lincoln came closer to Sinclair, pressing his chest to his back. “I’m not the one who needs to be silent. You’ll tell them nothing.”
Bellamy yelled Lincoln’s name as the man threw Sinclair to the ground, standing over him. “Cover me!” Bellamy told the other guard as he jumped into lockup, trying to diffuse the situation. Only, as soon as he was inside, he heard Lincoln scream at the other grounders.
They were escaping, and Bellamy fell for it.
Pike was about to speak before the P.A. system butted in. “All units to Lockup!” The man’s voice said as Pike raised a brow at you.
“I don’t suppose you have anything to do with this?” His question was rhetorical as he knew you did.
You smirked at him. “Actually, I do.” You pulled out the shock lash you stored in your pocket and struck Pike with it, sending him to the ground unconscious.
“It worked! You’re all clear, the guards have their hands full.” Harper spoke into the comm in your ear as you let out a shaky breath. If you had known Monty was listening in, that sigh wouldn’t have been as relieving. “The gate’s open Y/N. It’s all you.”
You put Pike in the back of a rover, hoping in the front. You had never driven before but Miller gave you an overview and soon you were off. You hit a couple boxes, sending them flying but pushed on until the open gate was in your view.
You were home free.
Until Bellamy stepped in front of the gate. You slammed on the brakes, coming quite close to Bellamy but not hitting him. Bellamy’s face fell when he saw you driving, not Miller or Harper, but you.
“Get out of the way Blake!” You shouted at him. He just stood there, staring at you before Pike stirred in the back.
“Should’ve killed me when you could.” His laugh was filled with spite at your defeat, but you didn’t react, only looking at Bellamy’s disappointed face.
“Don’t think I won’t.” You mumbled as you saw guns being pointed at you, but not from Bellamy. You put your hands in the air and the back of the Rover opened, a pair of guards helping Pike out. Your door opened as Bellamy helped you out.
He pulled you close to him as he whispered in your ear. “What are doing?”
You looked up at him, the closeness having such familiarity, but this time you didn’t kiss him. “You can’t save me Bellamy.”
You were led to the interrogation room, your hands pulled behind your back. It felt like the first time you were arrested. Only this time you didn’t kill a man, but you should’ve.
Pike stood in front of you, his feet spread apart with his arms crossed. “As you know, the terms of martial law and of the Exodus Charter give me both latitude and ultimate authority in determining your punishment.” Your eyes met Bellamy who stood against the wall, a hand covering his mouth and worried breaths. Pike spared Bellamy a glance before focusing back on you, sat in a chair. Your face was emotionless, not a frown nor smile on your face as Pike went on.
“I hope you believe that if I thought for one minute that turning myself over to the enemy would secure the safety of our people, I would do it, but only a deluded man would believe that.” Bellamy watched him, the man he believed was right, but right now as Bellamy listened to this speech tell of your future, he felt his whole-body shake. And yet you showed no reaction and let Pike move on with his words. Bellamy didn’t know what Pike was going to do with you, but he hoped it wasn’t what he assumed. “Y/N YL/N, for the crimes of treason, kidnapping, and attempted murder,” Bellamy found himself standing straighter, his hands falling to his sides fast when he took a step forward, mentally pleading that Pike wouldn’t finished his sentence. That you’d get one more chance. That this wasn’t the end for you. “I hereby sentence you to death.”
Bellamy couldn’t breathe.
A/N: So, yeah! Tell me what you think! For those of you not in my little loop on here, I’m taking a break for a little while so THE NEXT CHAPTER WON’T BE POSTED NEXT WEEK! Even though I’m not going to be on, I love asks, so feel free to drop some in my ask box! Love you all! Hope you enjoy! Sorry this is so freaking long lol

The 100:  6x09 What You Take With You
How amazing was this episode? It is, so far, one of the two best episodes of the season (alongside 6x07) and probably in my top 10 favorite The 100 episodes of all time.
It benefited from its focus on just three storylines and a limited number of characters, which allowed it to properly focus on the characters and their psychological and emotional journeys.
The title seems to be a reference to the Dagobah cave scene in The Empire Strikes Back, or rather, the dialogue right before it:
Luke: There is something not right here. I feel cold, death.
Yoda: That place… is strong with the dark side of the Force. A domain of evil it is. In you must go.
Luke: What’s in there?
Yoda: Only what you take with you.
Luke ends up having a hallucination of fighting Darth Vader in the cave and killing him, only to take off his helmet and see his own face, in possibly the most famous movie scene of a character confronting their “Shadow” self.
So, when the episode titles for season 6 of The 100 were released, it wasn’t hard to guess that this episode would contain scenes of a character “facing their demons” in a fantasy sequence (and which character it would be, especially as we had seen glimpses of Octavia fighting the Blodreina version of herself in the trailer). As a fan of psychological character exploration through trippy fantasy sequences, I had high expectations from this episode regarding Octavia’s story – and they were completely fulfilled and maybe exceeded. I wasn’t expecting to see Charles Pike in Octavia’s hallucination soul-searching, and his appearance and how he was used was brilliant.
The other two, equally important storylines, were:
the continuation of the saga about the Bellamy/Clarke relationship through the story about the fight between Josephine and Clarke for control of Clarke’s body, and Bellamy’s attempts to save Clarke from real and certain death;
and the conclusion of the opposite storyline - about Abby crossing a lot of ethical lines to work with the Primes and use bodysnatching to resurrect Kane in another body. This was the final death of Marcus Kane, a tragic end of Kabby romance, but it also a fitting ending for Kane, with him asserting his own integrity and morality by choosing to die and refuse to be complicit in the practices of the Primes, but to instead start a fight against them. It will also probably be the turning point in Abby’s character arc. The resolution of this storyline has caused a lot of controversy and anger, which I don’t understand, since Kane’s decision was obvious and in-character, so much that I predicted it last week, because it was the only thing that made sense narratively and for Kane’s characterization.
More thoughts under the cut.
Octavia vs Blodreina
The fact we still don’t know what happened to Diyoza or to Octavia in the Anomaly makes me think that this is a plot that will carry over to season 7, after the bodysnatching business is wrapped up. And the more they postpone the resolution, the more hopeful I am for Diyoza to survive season 6.
Choosing the angry, violent red box instead of the calm green box is such an Octavia thing to do. But maybe it was the right thing in this case, as it let her face her demons head on and figure things out for herself.
The red butterflies scene was one of the many callbacks to season 1.
Pike’s role made sense because Octavia’s descent into darkness was not just prompted by the trauma of Lincoln’s death at Pike’s hands, but also because it started when she decided to murder Pike for revenge, making herself judge, jury and executioner. That was the first time she committed actual murder, as opposed to killing people in fight. She probably thought at the time, as a big portion of the fandom did, that Pike was a bad guy and had it coming. But one could now say the same thing about Octavia herself, and she is obviously aware of it. If Pike deserved to die, doesn’t she, too? Using the same standards, shouldn’t she be murdered for revenge by someone like James (the Wonkru guy from 6x02, who lost his mother in the gorge and blames Octavia fori t)? In fact, Octavia tried to get him to kill her, because, on some level, she thought she deserved death, too, even while she was pretending that she didn’t feel any guilt and trying to justify all her actions. Why should Bellamy ever forgive her for throwing him into the fighting pit to die? I can see many similarities between Octavia and Pike: both of them are fighters by nature, both were driven by the desire to save and protect people, both were angry and traumatized by what had been done to their people, and both were also prone to black-and-white thinking and harsh judgment of their enemies. As Octavia’s mind version of Pike pointed out, we are products of what we have done, and what has been done to us. Pike is an embodiment of both for Octavia. And Pike himself was a product of what the Ice Nation under Queen Nia had done to him – killing almost all of the people he grew up with, many right in front of him (including 15 children), which made him go into the woods to fight for months. Pike started pre-emptively seeing Grounders as enemies even when they were not, and eventually, as a Chancellor, started acting as a dictator and hunting for traitors in his camp. Octavia started by proclaiming everyone (or almost everyone – Echo didn’t count) her people, One people, but that eventually turned into tyranny and seeing enemies in everyone who disagreed or refused to do everything she asked of them. Pike condemned Lincoln to death and execute him for the same reasons Octavia as Blodreina condemned Bellamy, Indra and Gaia to the fighting pit: to maintain authority and show that rebellion is not allowed and will be punished by death. We may not have seen this put into words, but Octavia’s vision of Blodreina in Pike’s role, condemning/executing Pike the way he had Lincoln, showed her realization about herself. „Pike“ even reminded Octavia that he was trying to earn his redemption by doing good when she killed him. Of course, since Pike was really an enbodiment of a part of Octavia’s own mind, it is really something she has been thinking about and that she’s telling herself. It’s a level of self-reflection that I never expected to see from Octavia of the earlier seasons, and shows how much she’s grown.
So does she deserve redemption? As „Pike“ pointed out, it is not about deserving. You just need to make the decision to go and do good, and not be Blodreina anymore, shown by her symbolic killing of „Blodreina“. She is still to actually start her redemption arc, but getting into the right frame of mind and realizing she wants to change and do better was the necessary first step.
Kane’s goodbye
I’ve already written quite a bit about Abby’s emotional and ethical downfall and the tragic development of the Kabby relationship in seasons 5-6 here and I predicted that the storyline would end with Kane’s death by his own choice (and that Henry Ian Cusick would return to play Kane in a vision for his last scene), even though I didn’t guess when or how it would happen.
Unlike some other fans, I find this to be a very fitting ending for Marcus Kane. I don’t think of what he did as suicide, but as a sacrifice, or, more than anything, a refusal to legitimize and benefit from an evil practice that involves brainwashing people so they could be lambs easily led to slaughter, and then murdering them as lesser and disposable, so you could prolong your own life. He couldn’t fight against it, speak against it, while being in a stolen body himself. (There is a reason why Gabriel is ashamed to admit to his followers that he lives in a host body.) Everything about it was wrong to him, and went against everything he believes in. (Meeting Gavin’s widow and realizing that the Primes are lying to their people also played a role. As Gabriel confirmed in this episode, and as Kane 2.0 and the other Primes, no doubt, are aware, there is no trace of the host mind after the transfer – unless the transfer fails.)
Indra has finally been woken up! But is she staying on the ship now, and if so, when do we see her again? I’m glad she got to say goodbye to her friend before his death. I like the fact that Indra pointed out that both the Arkers and the Grouders had some disturbing practices of their own, but Kane gave the logical answer (something I was hoping someone would point out at any point) – the fact we did bad things in the past, doesn’t mean we should let evil things happen. That’s not how morality (or common sense) works.
The show loves angst, so of course, Kane’s death had to be exactly like Jake Griffin’s death (which we saw in the flashbacks in 1x03), and Abby had to witness it. But, as Raven pointed out, it is better for her if she gets to say goodbye. (Raven would know, since she never got to say goodbye to Finn or Shaw. Or Sinclair.) Kabby has been one of my favorite ships on the show – because it is one of the very few romantic relationships that was well developed, way before Kane and Abby got together. Their chemistry was obvious since season 1. And while Greyston Holt did a great job playing Kane 2.0, it only made sense that Henry Ian Cusick return to play Kane in that last scene, when Kane appeared to Abby the way she saw him in her mind-eye - which also made him feel like real Kane to the audience.  The scene was truly beautiful and sad, with Abby’s heartbreak, and Indra and Raven reciting the Ark prayer (with Indra adding the Grounder “Your fight is over”). I don’t think that Kane would really do the same to bring Abby back – or that Abby would have done it if she had been in a healthier state of mind, but I can see why he told Abby that. While he disagreed with her decision and couldn’t accept it, he showed understanding, empathy and love to her, while urging her to let him go and continue her life.
All in all, considering the tricky actor availability situation due to Cusick’s role on another show, I think that the writing staff have found a good way to give Kane a proper sendoff, and make it meaningful and highly relevant to this season’s themes and main plot.
In a way, it’s more Abby’s tragedy than Kane’s – he made the decision that was the only right one, one of the most in-character things he’s ever done, but Abby is still lost and needs to let go off Kane, really recover from addiction, and find her own sense of morality again.
The Kane/Abby storyline and relationship this season is juxtaposed to the Josephine/Gabriel story – and the Clarke/Bellamy story. We have seen bodysnatching as something people (Gabriel, Russell and Simone with Josephine, Abby with Kane) resort to in order to resurrect someone they love. But while Josephine couldn’t be happier about it – because she’s selfish and, let’s say, morally challenged, Kane, with his deep sense of morality, could never accept that. We’ve also seen a storyline about Bellamy doing everything to save Clarke – but while all of those are motivated by love, the big difference between what Bellamy is doing and what Abby has done (and what Gabriel initially did when he resurrected Josephine, at the expense of 40+ of the people he had raised from embryos) is that Bellamy is fighting against an evil act, to right a wrong, as opposed to doing evil or enabling evil.
Bellarkephine
Bellarke has always been the central relationship on the show, but it’s never been as front and center as it is this season. In 6x07, Clarke gave up on living at the moment when Josephine managed to convince her that Bellamy had given up on her and moved on and that he and everyone are better off without her, and the last few been about Bellamy being willing to do everything to get Clarke back. The show is being really obvious about Bellamy’s and Clarke’s feelings for other other, even more so than it was in the previous seasons (and I happen to think it was already quite obvious). It’s not the first time that other characters have called out those two on their feelings for each other (from Lexa noticing in season 2 that Clarke cares for Bellamy and worries about him more than about her other people, to ALIE!Raven in season 3, taunting Bellamy over being more devoted to Clarke than his girlfriend Gina, to Octavia calling out Bellamy in season 5 and calling Clarke another traitor who he loves), but now it is an integral part of the main story, the way it was not before.
I’ll say one thing, though – while it is undeniable, seeing his behavior over the previous few episodes. that Bellamy cares for Clarke more than anyone else at this point, as Josephine points out (and that statement implies that he cares for her more than his girlfriend, Echo), I think one should be fair and acknowledge that Clarke is in danger of certain and definite death, after a definite and short period of time, while the others back in Sanctum are only in danger of potential death, so I don’t think it would be fair if they begrudged Bellamy going off to save Clarke.
This dynamic was weird, because Bellamy was simultaneously not fond of (to put it mildly) of Josephine, but was incredibly tender and caring with her body, because it was Clarke’s body, and Clarke is still in there somewhere. The way he gently wiped JoClarke’s black blood and put his own, so the Children of Gabriel wouldn’t know she was a Nightblood, reminds me of Bellamy cutting himself to fool the Ark guards, so they wouldn’t know the blood belonged to Octavia, when she would accidentally cut herself.
Josephine said that love was the reason why Sanctum would be destroyed – implying not just that her father put everything in danger for his love for her (by putting her in Clarke’s body), but also that Bellamy’s love for Clarke and his determination to save would be the cause of Sanctum’s destruction. It’s the 3rd time that the word “love” has been used on the show to describe Bellamy’s and Clarke’s feelings for each other: the first time was in season 2 when Clarke said she was being weak when she tried to keep Bellamy from going to Mount Weather, because love is weakness; the second time was in season 5, when Octavia called out Bellamy on pleading for the life of a traitor who you love; and this is the third time.
The moment when Bellamy looked at Clarkephine when he knew Clarke could hear him, and paused before saying “I wont let you die”, was one of those moments where Bellamy or Clarke seem to want to say more, or are saying a lot more, through or instead of a statement like “Hurry” or “Don’t feel bad about leaving me here”. Those two have always had their own way of saying ILY.
Bellamy replying “Tell me about it” when Josephine called the “weird” relationship between him and Clarke “exhausting” has to be one of the best meta moments on the show.
(BTW, I don’t think Bellamy actually wanted to kill Clarke in 1x02 – the first moment he could have let her die, he saved her. But maybe she thought so, or maybe Josephine saw her memories and drew that conclusion. Also, the show Josie is misusing the word “genocide” and should look up the definition.)
But after a while, what was Josephine trying to taunt Bellamy, turned into Josephine being moved by Bellamy’s love for Clarke – not because she’s a compassionate person (she’s not), but because it reminds her of Gabriel’s love she had and lost. We got her explicit confirmation that she has really been in love with him, since they got to the planet (which may have been the first time they met). And while we know, from his reactions in 6x08, that he is still in love with her (but she may not know that), he has still been trying to kill her for the last 70 years – because she is a villain and is largely responsible for maintaining a terrible system of oppression and murder. This is the main difference between Gabriel/Josephine and Bellarke: Clarke is actually not a villain, she is a hero. Josephine is the villain that some of the characters and a part of the fandom imagines Clarke to be, because they are not paying attention to the actual story.
I love the fact that Clarke used the Morse code, for the second time, but now to both mock Josephine with “Boohoo” and try to make Bellamy laugh, while confirming that she was able to hear them both.
It’s really amazing just how Bellarke-heavy this episode was, even though Clarke and Bellamy weren’t able to directly interact most of the time – and haven’t been since 6x04. The one moment when they did get a chance to interact, for some 10 seconds, was when Clarke temporarily took control over her body because Josephine realized she sucked at defending herself and had to let Clarke do it. And it was amazing – the way Eliza changed her expression, voice and demeanor and the way she looked at Bellamy, the way Bellamy immediately knew she was Clarke, the chemistry that was suddenly there again in full force when it was Bellamy and Clarke interacting, rather than Bellamy and Josephine. Clarke is determined to never leave Bellamy again (as we saw in 5x13, when she was not willing to leave him behind even while they were seconds away from missiles hitting), but this time, he was right that literally staying there would have killed her, so she did the smart thing and sneaked him the keys – allowing him to save himself, while he let her go to save herself.
My judgement of the Children of Gabriel after 6x03 still stands: morally ambiguous group, the right goal, but too murder-happy.
Josephine may be a 200+ old narcissistic, evil Prime that I want to die, but her interactions with Clarke are really fun. It was great to see Clarke get the upper hand, at least for a while, and be in control again. And I loved the fact that Clarke rubbed it into Josephine’s face that she had stolen some skills from her – and calling her out on the irony of Josephine complaining about it, while living in Clarke’s stolen body.
I can’t wait to see Josephine and Gabriel reunited, and Octavia and Clarke and Bellamy reunited – but I’m also looking forward to more of the Clarke/Josephine fight for control in the mindspace.

She’s dying. She’s dying. She’s dying. She’s dying.
Reven’s words were echoing in his head since the moment he heard them, his thoughts running wild. He saw you, laying outside Mount Weather, dead. He was too late. “We’re close.” Kane said, pulling him slightly away from his thoughts, now focused on the view from the tiny window in front of him. The truth was, he couldn’t imagine what he would do if you were gone. He didn’t know how he felt about you, you weren’t a permanent person in his life, but you weren’t a stranger, too. You were the girl who risked her life for him, without even knowing him. And now, sitting in the rover, waiting and hoping to get there in time, he knew he would lose his mind if they were too late.
“We’re here.” Kane announced. The moment the river stopped, he jumped out of it, running straight to you. You were laying between Raven and Sinclair, your mouth was slightly opened and blood was dripping for it. Your whole front was covered in blood. “No, no, no.” He said as he crouched down next to you, taking your hand in one hand and brushing your hair from your face with the other.
“Stay with me, Nokeryon. You’re okay, we’re here, we’re gonna help you.” He whispered as tears formed in his eyes.
“Y/N.” Raven mumbled from beside him.
He turned to her. “What?”
“Her name is Y/N. She told me because she knew she was gonna die.” She whispered, her eyes focused on something in front of her.
“Don’t worry, when the time is right, you’ll know my name.”
Your words echoed through his mind, but he ignored it. “Well, she’s not going to.” He said sternly before turning back to look at you. “Stay with me, Y/N. You have to keep fighting.”
“Clear the way.” Abby said as she took Sinclair’s spot next to you. She placed two fingers on your neck, nodding. “She has a pulse, but it’s weak. I need to stitch her up and get her to Arkadia as fast as possible.” She said and pulled out her med kit. Bellamy watched her, his hand still in yours and his other one cupping your cheek. She took a needle and a surgical suture. “Open her jacket.” She ordered. He immediately opened your jacket and lifted up your shirt, cringing at the sight of your stab wound. Abby poured water and alcohol on your wound and cleaned the area, wiping all of the dry and new blood off and started to stitch you up. He moved his gaze to your face, seeing your busted lip and the bruises that were starting to form in your eye and right cheek. He looked around, finding the assassin’s body not too far from them. You saved them.
“Okay. Help me get her on the stretcher.” Abby said, pulling back his attention to her. He helped her lift you up onto the stretcher and carried you to the rover.
“She’s not coming.” Pike said, stepping into their way.
“Like hell she is,” Raven said, steeping forward, “she saved my life, killed the assassin. We owe her our lives.”
“She’s a Grounder, she’s not one of us. We need the medical equipment for our people.” He argued. Bellamy felt himself getting angry, his emotions out of control. However, before he could say something, Abby stepped forward. “Well, you’re not in charge here, I am. And as acting Chancellor, I approve her treatment in Arkadia. She saved their lives, Charles.”
“You’re making a mistake, Abby.” Was all he said before moving away. Ballamy and Abby wasted no time in carrying you in the rover, placing you on the floor. Just like before, it felt like the longest drive he’d even took, but now you were with him, safe. He knew you were on borrowed time, but held your hand tightly in his, reminding him that you were here. And not dead.
“I can’t find a pulse.” Abby said, his eyes widening. She sat on her knees and started performing CPR on you. Bellamy felt as if he was falling deep, begging for something to hold on to. He kept holding your hand, silently begging you to fight. Abby lowered her mouth to yours before moving back and continuing her chest compressions. She suddenly stopped, checking your pulse. Bellamy looked at her with a hopeful look, but that look was gone when she shook her head, leaning away from you.
“No.” He said, refusing to believe what was right in front of him. “No, you have to continue, she’s not dead.”
“I’m sorry, Bellamy. But there’s nothing I can do.” She said, her face turning of pity. He shook his head, dropping to his knees. He brought his hand to your cheek, caressing it. “Come on, Y/N.” He whispered, and if you were awake you’d be the only one who could hear him. “I need you to keep fighting, you need to keep fighting. I need you, please. You can’t die on me.” He begged, a sob breaking through him. “Please..”
He cried silently, feeling a hand on his back, he turned to see Octavia, tears in her eyes as well. “She can’t be dead, O. There has to be something we can do..” he trailed off, his mind running through possibilities. He remembered Lincoln, laying still until Abby hit him with the shock baton. He reached back with his free hand, feeling the baton that was still attached to his belt.
“Hit her.” He said, pulling out the baton and handing it to Abby. “Like you did with Lincoln.”
She looked at him for a few seconds before nodding, telling him to step away from you. She activated it, pushing it to your chest. Nothing happened.
“Hit her again.” Bellamy said, his eyes trained on your face, waiting for some response. Abby hit you again, nothing happened.
“Again.” He ordered, feeling fouls hope.
“Bellamy-“ Octavia started but he was quick to cut her off.
“Hit her again.”
Abby sighed but hit you again, nothing happened. He couldn’t breath, couldn’t see, couldn’t feel the comforting hand on his back or hear the sorrys of the people around him. And he refused to believe you were dead. Not now, not ever. There are so many things he didn’t say to you, things that he might never get to say. He wanted to see your eyes open, to hear your voice when you teased him or hear your laughter. “No.” He sobbed, shanking his head in denial. “Hit her again.”
“Bellamy, we’d be just hitting a dead body.” Abby said, her voice soft but her words cut through him like a knife.
“Hit her again.” He raised his voice. She looked at Kane, he nodded. With clear disapproval, she leaned forward, hitting you again. He pressed his fingers against your neck, feeling a small pulse, but he wasn’t sure if it was his own racing heart, or your dying one. “I-I don’t..” he couldn’t finish his sentence. Abby nodded, understanding. She pressed her own fingers, her head lifting up in shock.
“She has a pulse.”
Ballamy couldn’t help the smile that rose to his face. He leaned closer to you. “You hear that? You’re going to be okay. You’re okay. You’re alive.”
________
You gasped for air, sitting you and groaning as you felt an agonizing pain in your side. Hands on your shoulders pushing you back down to the bed, making you turn your head. You saw Jackson, the same man who treated you after Mount Weather.
“Relax, you’re okay.” He reassured you. You nodded but was still not convinced. You looked around the room, metal. There was grey metal all over the place, putting you in a discomfort. You felt a hand squeeze yours, making you turned to your right. You saw Bellamy, his head leaned on your hand on the bed, his curls spreading on the white sheet. The sight itself brought you to comfort.
“I’m not dead?” You asked, turning to Jackson, speaking in a low voice to not wake Bellamy.
“You almost were, but luckily for you, this guy here refused to let you die.” He said, making your gaze fall back on Bellamy, a small smile on your face. “Of course he wouldn’t, the guy isn’t connected to reality even if it hit him in the face.”
Jackson chuckled, turning to leave. “I’ll leave you two alone.”
“Wait.” You stopped him. “Thank you.”
“Just don’t get stabbed again.” He said and walked out of the room.
You leaned back on the bed and moved your hand to play with Bellamy’s curls, your smile spreading as he moved his head, allowing you to keep going. Your heart raced, but this time it wasn’t from running away or getting stabbed, this time, it was from the guy sitting next to you, the guy who didn’t let you die. The guy who made you feel more than a bounty hunter, he made you feel like your life mattered. He stirred awake, head lifting and eyes squinting, widening when they fell on you.
“You’re awake.” He said and placed his hand on your cheek. “How are you feeling? Are you okay? Do you need something? Water? You must be-“
“I need you to shut up.” You cut him off, placing you hand on top of his, running your thumb over his knuckles. “I’m fine, Bellamy, thanks to you, so I’ve heard.”
“You have no idea how worried I was. Your heart stopped and I couldn’t-“
You placed your hand on his cheek, shutting him up. “I’m fine now, Bell.” His eyebrows lifting in surprise of the nickname. “I’m alive and I’m okay.”
It took him a few seconds, but he nodded, leaning in to your touch. You shoved down all of your doubts, you almost died and you didn’t want to before getting to do this. You scooted away, petting the space beside you. “Come on.”
He didn’t move, doubt clear on his face, but you didn’t care. You need to feel his touch, you needed the reminded that you were alive. “I’ll hurt you.” He said in a quiet voice, making you smile. “No, you won’t. I’m tough. Now come on.” You waved him over. Even though the look of doubt never left his face, he laid next to you. You turned to him, holding him close to you, your head on his chest. You felt his arms wrap around you and his lips touching your hairline. You looked up and saw him with his eyes closed, all doubts gone. You relaxed against him, breathing in his scent. His hand started to run up and down your back, making you aware that a thin shirt was the only thing you wore to cover your torso. You drew circles on his chest, closing your eyes. You stayed there for what felt like hours, but still, it wasn’t enough. You wanted to hold him for an eternity, to feel his unending touch and to breath nothing but his scent. All the things you wanted to say, all the things you wanted to do and thought you were going to die without getting to do them, you knew what you needed to do.
The door opened, making your moment of peace go away. You opened your eyes and felt Bellamy move away from you. You looked up and saw Lincoln and Octavia stepping into the room. Lincoln immediately went to you, pulling you into him.
“Hello to you too.” You said, but hugged him back close. You didn’t see Lincoln in over a month and you have missed him. “Glad you’re not dead.” He said, pulling away. “You know me, it’ll take a powerhouse to take me down.”
“Mostly because you are a powerhouse.” Octavia said from beside Lincoln. You chuckled and pulled her into a hug as best aa you could from your sitting position. “I’m flattered, Little Blake.”
“You need to lay down, rest.” Lincoln said and placed his hand on your shoulder. You rolled your eyes but laid down, already feeling your side starting to burn. The door opened again, revealing Kane and Abby.
“Nokeryon.” Kane greeted. “I’m glad to see you’re awake.”
“Glad to be alive.” You said, sitting back up, ignoring the look Bellamy sent you.
“We need to talk to you and Lincoln, but before we do, I have a question for Bellamy.” Abby said, turning to look at him.
“I already told you, Kane, I’m not returning.” Bellamy said, making you frown. “What are you talking about?”
“He quit his guard post.” Kane answered for him. “Returned his jacket.”
“What?” You turned back to Bellamy. “Why would you do that?” You asked but his gaze stayed on Kane.
“He thinks what happened in the mountain was his fault.” Kane said.
“What? That’s insane, Ballamy. You couldn’t have known.”
“But you did.” He finally turned to you. “You told me something was off but I didn’t listen.”
“Yes, you did. You told me to stay there and it was the right call. If I wasn’t there, Raven and Sinclair would be dead and that assassin would be free.” You said, moving your hand to his forearm. “What happened wasn’t your fault, it was Azgeda’s.”
You could tell you reached to him, but he closed up, pushing you away. “I’ll go get you some food.” He muttered and walked out of the room, leaving you with a confused face.
“Pike wants to avenge the lives we lost in the mountain.” Kane started, making your attention go to him. “He wants to attack.”
“He can’t.” Lincoln said. “You are finally on good terms with Lexa, you can’t let Pike ruin that.”
“He’s right, if he does this then Lexa will have you wiped out.” You said and turned your body to the edge of the bed. “Now, help me up and get me some clothes. I need to get out of here.”
“No, what you need is rest.” Lincoln said and stepped in front of you.
“I’ve rested enough.” You two looked at each other, a silent battle between your eyes. He sighed and helped you. You winced as you stood, but clenched your jaw and pushed back the pain.
“Here.” Octavia handed you a pile of clothing.
“Thanks, you mind helping me?” You asked her and she nodded offering you her hand. You took it and slowly made your way out of the room. She walked you to an unfamiliar room, there was a bed and a small closet. “Is this your room?” You asked her as you sat down.
“No, it’s yours.” She said and helped you out of your shirt.
“What? Why?” You asked and winced as she helped you pull another shirt on.
“I think it’s their way of saying, ‘thank you for almost dying for us, here’s a room.’ Stand up.” She instructed.
You chuckled and said, “there’s no way I’m staying here, I need to go back.”
She pulled your pants up and grabbed your boots, helping you put them on. “I think you should stay here for just a little longer.” She said before adding. “Bellamy needs you.”
“What’s up with him?” You asked as she sat down next to you.
“He blames himself. For the attack, for you almost dying. He thinks it’s his fault.” She explained.
“Well, it’s not.” You simply said before standing up.
“And you’re the only person who can get that through to him, which is why you need to stay here. And because you need to rest.”
You grabbed your jacket, pulling it on. Something caught your eyes, your belt and all your attachments you always had on you were laying on the table.
“I figured you would want this back.” Octavia said and moved to grab them, handing them to you. “I have no idea how you put this together.”
You chuckled and took them from her, organizing them. “It took me some time to figure it out too, but Nyko is the true master.”
“Nyko?”
“Lincoln didn’t tell you?”
“No.” She shook her head.
“After my parents died I ran. Nyko found me, took me under his wing.”
She nodded. “Let’s go.”
You walked out of the room, heading outside. Your mouth was gaped as you stared at everything. There were kids, people working, if almost looked like another village if not for all the metal.
“Come on.” Octavia said and pulled you with her. You walked as best as you could, but you knew you would need to lay down in not too long. You saw Jasper and Monty up ahead.
“Glad to see you’re alive.” Jasper said as you got closer.
“The fuck happened to your neck?” You asked, seeing the scar on the left side of his neck.
“Some thing that happened to you, Ice Nation.” He said.
“All unstationed security personnel report to the main gate.” Was heard from the speakers.
You looked at Octavia before something near the gate caught your eyes. “Nyko.” You said before taking off, Octavia following after you.
“Hey, she’s hurt.” You yelled as you saw one guard push a young woman you recognized as Denea from the village you stayed in after Mount Weather, she barely caught herself.
“Hey, hey, hey, that’s enough!” Octavia yelled as you got to them. “Stop it!”
“Y/N.” Nyko said before walking to you. You jumped forward, wrapping your arms around him. You would have told him to not call you by your name but at that moment, all that mattered to you was that he was safe. He had always refused to call you Nokeryon, and you guessed it wouldn’t change anytime soon. “Ai strik gona.” My little warrior. He whispered, holding you close.
“Chit ste wrong?” What’s wrong? You asked.
“Emo ste haken.” They’re sick.
“The Chancellor told Nyko that we would that we would help.” Octavia said to the guard.
“You’re one of them, you take them in.” The guard said.
“Gladly.” You shot back before moving to help Denea up. “Yu are klir nau, kom op kom ai.” You’re safe now, come with me. You told her. Suddenly, the guard leaped forward and grabbed you aggressively, making her fall and you to wince, your shoulder wasn’t healed yet.
“You will speak English when you are here.” He yelled at you. You pulled out your knife and pressed it to his throat. “Touch me again and I will gut you like a fish.” You said and shook him off, moving back to Denea. You began walking back, Nyko falling into step with you. “I heard about Mount Weather.” He said to Octavia. “I’m very sorry.”
You walked into the medical station, helping them tend the sick. You left to go grab some water but stopped when you saw Lincoln leaning against the wall, blood dripping down his face.
“Lincoln.” You called and walked over to him. “Chit happened?” What happened? You asked him, inspecting the wound on his head.
“Oso dula op nou belong hir, Y/N. Emo made sure ai don get in dei de.” We don’t belong here, Y/N. They just made sure I knew that. He said as he turned to look at you. You shook your head. “Chit don dula emo dula op gon yu?” What did they do to you?
He didn’t answer, just stared at you. “Ku, den dula op nou tell ai. Ba let ai hon daun yu gon Abi.” Fine, then don’t tell me. But at least let me take you to Abby. He nodded, letting you help him.
“Abby.” You said as you walked in. “Help him.”
She took him to one of the beds and started working. She turned to you for a second. “You should be resting.”
“And let injustice happen like this? Yeah, right.” You scoffed, crossing your arms over your chest, glaring at Pike who, for some reason, was there.
“Do you want to press charges?” Kane asked Lincoln.
“No.” He said. “No charges.”
“Lincoln, you need to set an example.” Kane argued.
“Yeah, we do.”
“The man just lost his son, Marcus.” Pike said to Kane, making you roll your eyes.
“He’s a grown ass man, he should be able to control his anger.” You said, making him turn to you. “Was I talking to you, Grounder?”
“You say that like it’s a bad thing.”
“It is, you are a part of the enemy, there should be no place for you here.” He said, taking a step closer to you.
“I don’t want to be a part of you little ‘Fuck The Grounders’ club, but you owe me and you know it. Your ego just won’t let you admit it.” You said, preparing yourself in case you needed to punch the man. However before you could, Octavia walked into the room.
“What happened?” She asked and hurried to Lincoln’s side.
“I said no charges.” Lincoln said.
“Thank you.” Pike said and walked away, ignoring Nyko who was glaring at him.
“He’ll be fine.” Abby said and walked away as well.
“I’ll leave too, have fun.” You said and walked to Nyko. “How can I help?”
“You can help by resting. You were stabbed four times, your body isn’t healed yet.” Abby answered, making you roll your eyes.
“She’s right, I’ll be okay.” Nyko said.
“Seriously?”
Both of them didn’t say a thing. “Fine, I’m out of here.” You said and walked out.
You decided to stay in, wanting to see Bellamy. You saw him sitting in a table with Pike, making you frown. You started walking towards them, Pike spotting you. He said something to Bellamy before getting up and leaving.
“What was that about?” You asked, making Bellamy turn around.
“Nothing.” He said too fast. You sighed and sat down next to him, each leg on different side of the bench.
“I know you blame yourself for what happened, but you have to stop. What happened was not your fault. Yes, you could’ve prevented it, but so could I and so could anyone, but none of us knew. There are some things that we can’t control and that’s the way it’s supposed to be. You’re not God, Bellamy, you can’t control everything. As soon as you realize that, the heavy weight you carry on your shoulders will begin to loosen up.” You placed your hand on his cheek, finally making him turn to you. “It’s not your fault.”
“I told you to stay there, it’s my fault you almost died.” He said, clenching his jaw. You knew he was trying to hold himself together. You wrapped your arms around him, feeling him hug you back. “Don’t you ever blame yourself for what happened to me, I’m responsible for my own actions, not you.”
He pulled you close, mumbling something you couldn’t quite hear. You lifted your head, running your hand through his hair. “You’re okay. You’re safe now.” You whispered. He nodded.
“I have to go, I’m sorry.” He said, taking his jacket.
“Go where?” You asked and stood up with him.
“Clear my head.” He said and walked away, stopping for a second. “Thank you, for being here. You have no idea how much I appreciate this, and you.”
“I’ll always be here for you, Bell.” You said and took his hand in yours.
“I really hope you will.” He said and with a last squeeze to your hand, turned around and left. You were confused by his words, but didn’t say anything, not wanting to drive him away. You knew how vulnerable he felt, you needed to take it slow with him.
You stepped outside, walking to Octavia’s horse. You pet him, missing your own horse. You knew you needed to stay here but it didn’t change the fact that you missed your time in Polis. It was sort of peaceful, without all the drama that accrued to you. You heard shouting from behind you, you turned around the corner and saw a group of people, Bellamy and Pike in front of them and Lincoln, holding on of them with a knife to his throat. You frowned and ran to him.
“What’s happening?” You asked, standing beside Lincoln. You looked at Bellamy, his face showed clear surprise. “Lincoln, let him go.”
“They want to go and attack the army that was sent here to protect us. I’m not going anywhere.” He said, holding the man tighter.
“What?” You turned to Pike, not looking at Bellamy. “What the fuck is wrong with you? Lexa sent that army to protect you from Azgeda, so that what happened in Mount Weather won’t repeat itself.”
“Move away, Grounder.” He snarled at you.
“No, you move away. If you’re really that dumb to do this than you need to know that if you will attack this army, those Grounders that you hate so much, will wipe you out.” You said and stepped closer to him.
“Let them try.” A woman said from behind him.
“Whose people are you defending here, Lincoln?” Pike asked.
“Lincoln, put down the knife. No one has to get hurt here.” Bellamy said, making you look at him with confusion.
“I can’t let you start a war.” He said in a law voice, keeping his anger in check.
“We’re already at war.” Pike said.
“Are you even listening? We are at peace, it’s Azgeda that attacked us, it’s Azgeda that you need to hate. Not all Grounders are the same.” You said, trying for the tenth time to try and reason with him, but you should’ve known there was no reasoning with this man.
“Step away, Grounder, you can’t stop this.” He said.
“All unstationed security personnel report to the main gate.” A voice said from the speakers, followed by an alarm. You saw Octavia running towards you, stopping in front of Bellamy. “What’s wrong with you?”
Kane and Abby, followed by a few guards walked towards you. “Calm down, people.” Pike called. “Farm Station. Guns on the ground. On the ground.”
“Lincoln, it’s alright. Let him go.” Kane said, Lincoln let him go and pushed him forward.
“What the hell do you think you’re doing?” Abby snapped at Pike.
“What you didn’t have the guts to.” He said, glaring at her.
“Did you arm these people?” Kane asked Bellamy. He didn’t say anything, providing the answer to both Kane and you. You refused to believe it.
“Guards, take them to lockup. Now.” Abby ordered. The guards stepped forward, arresting all the people the stood with Pike, including Bellamy. “Everybody, back to your quarters.” She yelled. “It’s over.”
“Nothing is over.” Pike yelled.
“Come the fuck on.” You sighed.
“We are surrounded by warriors who want us dead. One of them is already here, dressed like them.” He pointed at you. “And we provide her shelter and food? She is the enemy, alongside those people out there.”
“That’s enough!” Kane stepped forward.
“No, it isn’t. Not even close.” He yelled. “Why don’t you show us what you let the Grounders do to you yesterday?” He asked, cocking his head to the side. “Come on, Kane. I think that the people who are about to vote for you have a right to know.”
Kane rolled up his sleeve, showing the mark on his forearm. “It’s the mark of the Commander’s coalition.” He explained. “It means we are the 13th clan. It means we are in this fight together.”
“No.” Pike interrupted him. “It’s what farmers used to do to their livestock.”
“Right before the slaughterhouse!” A woman yelled from the crowd. People started to yell in agreement, you heard some of them saying that Pike should be the Chancellor.
“Sir,” a man said to Pike, “you should be on the ballot tomorrow.”
“Yeah, we’re with you, Pike.” A woman said.
“I vote for Pike.” Another man said.
“That’s enough.” Abby said, stepping forward, but the yelling continued. “Take him away.”
The guards did as they were told and took him away. You turned to look at Bellamy, but he wasn’t looking at you. “Pike! Pike! Pike!” The crown started chanting, and to your surprise, Bellamy joined. You looked at Octavia and Lincoln, both of their faces matching yours.
“We are officially fucked.”

“pike!”
nothing could bring you down from the high cloud of anger that filled your mind like a fog machine. the saturation and tension building up higher and higher, making your head want to explode as you marched closer and closer to the man you were about to kill.
“miss y/l/n,” a small smile filled his lips, a friendly one for an old friend, not catching onto your very angry tone, “to what do i owe the pleasure?”
it took you by surprise that he recognized you, let alone knew your name and voice. it had been so long and you were sure that the only thing he would’ve remembered of you was the simple delinquent that tried to pull him off of john murphy, something that seem like a distant memory from a past life.
“i’m not sure this will be a pleasure for you charles,” you drew back your arm once you stood less than a foot away from him, sending your fist for the center of his face.
just as fast as you pulled away from the punch, you tugged out your gun, aiming the barrel of the tool to his face, inches away from his nose. it made him twitch and raise his arms slowly in caution.
“tell me why you killed three hundred innocent people sent to protect us for no goddamn reason?”
“now, miss y/l/n,” his voice began to layer out in nervousness, low and almost shaken as he stared hard into your eyes, “don’t take me as a fool but those people were far from innocent and not sent to protect us.”
he added a little laugh to the end of his sentence, like it was common sense that indra’s army was more of a threat rather than a help, like you were a fool for believing the better of people.
“we can protect ourselves.”
“bullshit,” you say it fast and loud making him flinch before sighing in realization that it was only your voice and not the gun. sound was becoming numb and blending together the more he stood there in a weak point. “the only reason you’re alive right now is because i didn’t shoot you the first sight i had of you in the woods.”
“that’s different.”
“is it really?” you tilted your head slightly, questioning his logic with shooting before questioning.
the first time you you had really seen pike on earth, you hid in the trees, watching him and his crew stomp through the woods, looking for the rest of arkadia, gun aimed straight for his head.
if it weren’t for kane, he would’ve been dead in the forest floor, ridding you from the situation you were in right at that moment.
it’s silent as you stared at him roughly, eyelids scrunched and only revealing so much of your angry pupils, “the last time i checked you said use your resources, not kill them.”
your referral to the class he had taught just before you were sent down to the ground made him hesitate, his eyes finding the ground as he tried to think of a way to back himself out of the deep corner he was already in.
“it was not your decision to kill those people,” you sucked in a breath, “you had no fucking right-“
“y/n?”
you almost swore aloud as you heard his voice and then saw his sweat gleaming face full of confusion. you knew you’d run into him, but you prayed he wouldn’t butt into your chaotic arrival so you wouldn’t have to shoot him too.
“bellamy, go away.”
“y/n, don’t shoot, you don’t understand-“
“bellamy, don’t think i won’t pull a gun on you too,” you glanced at him, hesitating to look away from your target who was slowly lowering his hands.
he thought bellamy was going to save him and it made you uneasy as to why pike thought that. it was becoming very obvious that the man knew something between the two of you with the way nervousness was beginning to escape his exterior.
“y/n, think for a moment,” bellamy rose his arms while slowly moving towards you causing you to act out of impulsion, raising another gun quickly, pointing it in his face just as pike.
“y/l/n, you don’t understand. we had to do it, they would’ve killed us if we hadn’t killed them first, it wasn’t a risk i was willing to take.”
“no, you killed them because you were scared, pike,” you watch his arms slowly go back up, falling right back into a place of vulnerability. “and because you were scared, you put a target on our back, you killed every single one of us.”
“y/n, just listen.”
“bellamy, shut up,” your head knocked toward his direction, a warning look feening on your face, begging him to keep his mouth shut because you were so close to the edge of pulling one of the two triggers in your hands, “shut up.”
“you’re making a fool of yourself, miss y/l/n,” pike’s voice rose an octave, deepening as if to intimidate you, but you were still the one with the gun, “put the weapons down and we won’t be forced to shoot you.”
“go ahead. you shoot me, guess where the bullet of my gun goes? your head.”
“y/n, please, put the gun down”
“listen to bellamy, y/n,” his voice drops again, this time into a more soothing tone, “bellamy’s always been one to trust, right? so why question his ways now?”
you narrowed your brows slightly, curving your head to give him the strangest look, like you were baffled as to why he would say something like that.
he caught on to your questioning look, his facial features easing as if telling you to hear him out, but you didn’t want to do anything along the lines of doing so.
“look at how many times bellamy has saved you, kept you safe... you’ve never questioned him and his ways before so why do it now? he’s trying to keep you safe.”
“i’ve never questioned bellamy before because he was never under the influence of a egotistical asshole who thinks violence is the answer to everything,” it was a little biased as bellamy was the exact same way but at least he had a little heart to him.
when you first met bellamy, it took everything in you not to strangle him and every decision he made, but as time continued on and he got used to his environment and role, he became tolerable and no longer made decisions that only benefited him, but more or so what was good for his people. you found a good friend.
but now, you hated how he seemed to be backtracking to the slick back asshole dressed in a guards uniform with a stupid smirk and taunting remarks.
“y/n, you trust me?”
“not anymore,” you eyed bellamy from the side, seeing his heart dropping through the core of his eyes. hurt. “how could you do this?”
“i had to.”
“no, you didn’t,” you shook your head, voice filling with hurt as well.
“think back to mount weather, y/n. think about how everything bellamy did, was for you.”
you frowned, your eyes going back to pike, “bellamy didn’t give a shit about me-“
you felt a sudden pressure on your chest as your arm was swung up in the air, the gun firing as your finger pressured onto both triggers.
you hit the ground and realization came upon you once you realized bellamy laid on top of you, one of his arms wrapped around your waist while the other gripped your one arm tightly, the one that was pointed at him.
you lifted your head off the ground slightly, not hearing anything but silence, wondering what had happened.
and to your wish, you shot the man of violence.
...but in the shoulder, and he laid on the ground with people beginning to swarm him. it was then did the silence become loud and noise slowly begun to fill your ears like water.
you felt winded. the pressure of bellamy hadn’t helped either for his whole body weight was pressed against your chest and stomach.
you groaned, hands reaching up to press against his chest but all you could do was squirm from underneath his weight before he grabbed onto both your arms, pinning them above your head.
you let go of the gun you shot pike with, allowing it to fall to the ground, finally falling to the pressure of his intense influence on your body.
“do anything and i’ll kill you.”

Many years go by, and when Clarke is alone, she reflects on how things could have gone at various points in her youth.
Many years pass, and Clarke Griffin mourns each of her friends’ passing with a deep sorrow she cannot seem to articulate with the others. She feels a sense of burden for how everything has played out, and it weighs heavily on her shoulders, even after all of this time. Even heavier than it used to, before they left Earth the first time so long ago.
There is a bitter irony in her being the last surviving human on Earth for the final time, she thinks one night. She closes her eyes to sleep as she listens to the sound of the waves crashing on the shore, and she dreams of lost futures of times long past.
Stolen memories and dreams that never came to fruition.
-x-
There is a sense of calmness that courses through Clarke’s body as she leans back against the large tree’s rough bark. She closes her eyes and breathes in deeply. For the first time in longer than she can remember, she almost feels at peace.
Bellamy’s steady presence next to her keeps her grounded in the moment, and she feels herself relax by his side. She shifts ever so slightly and rests her head against his shoulder, and after some time, his head tilts down and rests on top of hers.
They remain in companionable silence for so long the sun begins to rise.
More times than she can count, she resists the urge to just ask him to leave with her. Run away and leave it all behind. Each time, she remembers how much the others need them both, and she cannot find it in her to be that selfish.
But she wants to be.
-x-
Clarke wanted to walk away after what she did in Mt. Weather, but seeing her people suffering, and having Bellamy by her side makes her hesitate just long enough to think about it.
I bear it so they don’t have to.
She thinks about what Dante told her that night, and she wants to believe it, but she can see in the eyes of her people—Jasper, and Bellamy, and Monty most especially—that they also bear the burden already. Leaving wouldn’t change that. So she stays, and she tries to heal with all of them.
“Do you think we deserve happiness after what we did?” she whispers brokenly one night as she lays beside Bellamy. She spends most nights in his room, because being alone brings back the memories more acutely. At least beside him, she feels stronger when she faces them.
He has an arm around her waist and his chin rests on top of her head. She feels comfort in the feel of his breathing moving the hair on top of her head and his chest pushing against her back.
“I have to believe it’s possible,” he says softly, and she loves the rumble of his chest as he speaks. “I have to believe that we are better than the worst decisions we make.”
-x-
Roan had walked out of the long abandoned subway station some time ago, leaving Clarke tied to one of the pillars. She tried to escape for awhile, but fount she couldn’t, so she had chosen to stay still. Conserve her strength to fight him off later.
She heard the rustle of leaves and the crackle of feet against rocks, and found herself tensing, readying herself for what would come next, but instead of Roan standing in front of her, Clarke tilts her head up and finds Bellamy crouched down next to her.
“Bellamy,” she murmurs through the gag.
“I’ll get you out of here,” he says and he pulls down the gag. “I’ll take you home.”
“Hurry,” she says now that she can talk. She doesn’t know how long they have until Roan comes back. He makes quick work of her binds and helps her stand, and the two of them exit the underground station, keeping low to the ground and out of sight as they make their way back toward Monty, Kane, and Pike.
Clarke is hesitant to go back, but she does miss them—miss Bellamy—and it seems that it is time. With Bellamy by her side, she thinks she can finally begin to face down her demons.
-x-
They wait until the last possible second, and Clarke races back to Becca’s lab as quick as she can, and she makes it just in time. Bellamy’s relieved sigh as he runs to her and helps get her into the small ship centers her. She can barely breathe and can hardly focus as Bellamy helps her sit and buckles her in beside Harper.
“I almost didn’t make it,” she finds herself saying to Bellamy as they wait for Raven to get the doors to the Ark open.
“I’m glad you did,” Bellamy says back, grabbing her hand and giving it a squeeze. She gives him a tremulous smile as they wait with anticipation, the air in their tanks dwindling.
She listens to Murphy and Emori comparing how much air they each have. “At least I won’t have to watch you die,” he says about having less air.
Clarke wonders how much air Bellamy has. Is it less than her thirteen percent? Could she watch him die?
-x-
Monty and Harper wake Clarke and Bellamy first. They have a young child with them, he looks to be about seven years old, if Clarke was to guess. Bellamy and Clarke give their friends—who are now a full decade older than they were when they last saw them—long hugs that result in happy tears, and they introduce their son, Jordan, who seems in awe of them. Clarke’s heart twinges at the mention of their lost friend, but she thinks the name fits the young boy well, she can see the playful mischievousness in him already.
“Do we get to go back home?” Bellamy asks hopefully as they move their reunion to the bridge after some time.
“We’ve been tracking the progress of things from up here as best we can, and it took nearly four years before we saw any green at all. Once it started, though, it really took off,” Monty says with a wide grin, causing hope to bloom in Clarke’s chest.
Harper allows young Jordan to be the one to push the button that opens the windows of the ship, and Bellamy and Clarke stand next to each other, holding each other close as they look out to Earth, green and thriving below them.
“We can go home,” Clarke whispers, tears in her eyes.
-x-
Her heart pounds loudly in her chest, and the beeping on the monitor runs wild. Clarke launches herself into Bellamy’s embrace. Relief like she has never known passes through her whole body as his strong arms hold tight around her. She has never been more thankful to be alive—to be real—than in this moment.
“The head and the heart,” she whispers against his neck, and she feels him nod in response. She breathes deeply as she trembles, and she finds comfort in the fact that somehow, despite more than one hundred years and multiple planets, he still somehow smells like home to her.
Clarke does not know how to let him go, to detangle herself from him. She does not know how to articulate to him that his voice—his heart—brought her back to life.
She does not know how to tell him that he holds her heart.
-x-
Echo goes with Octavia and Gabriel to check on the anomaly, but Bellamy had decided to stay back with Clarke and the rest of them to help with the transition of the Sanctum citizens after everything that happened. Clarke is privately thankful to have his help, because his natural authority seems to go a long way in keeping order and restoring peace.
There is something so right about sitting next to him on a blanket outside of a beautiful house with their friends as they all decompress. They all try to keep the mood light, and for the most part, they succeed, but it’s difficult.
Clarke catches Bellamy’s eyes drift in the direction of Gabriel’s camp. She grabs hold of his hand and squeezes, offering him a smile.
“I know it hasn’t been that long,” he says, his voice gravely and hoarse from the night of fighting. “I just feel like something isn’t right.”
“If they’re not back by tomorrow, we’ll go after them,” Clarke assures him. “Together.”
-x-
She wakes in the night and knows something is wrong. It’s her time. There is no one to inform, or ask for help. She’s been alone for longer now than she had been with Madi in Shallow Valley many years before. She isn’t sad to be leaving this place she and her small group of friends finally made their home.
She is ready to move on. To be with him again.
As Clarke takes her last few breaths, she finds herself hoping that wherever human souls go, Bellamy’s soul is there to greet her when she arrives.
She closes her eyes one last time, a smile on her face.
”It’s about damn time, Princess,” she swears she hears him calling to her in the distance as her soul leaves her body.
