Does Kalina’s count as one of Cassandra’s followers or her familiar? Either way, when a god’s image and personality reflects their followers; and having two different influences is going to be interesting. I’m excited to see what Kalina has in store for Kristen this semester

I wanna talk about Kalina

Spoilers up to the third episode of FHJY, read below if you are caught up or just don't give a shit <3

I kinda want to address what we know about Kalina as a character? I have seen a lot of posts like "Kalina is gonna make Cassandra the Nightmare King again" or "Nightmare King's return" when I think that is not what this is at all. To me, Kalina, in three words, is: Loyal, Cunning, and Desperate.

Kalina has always been loyal to Cassandra in all her different forms throughout history. She willingly became a plague when the Unnamed Goddess (Cassandra) knew she was being betrayed by her followers and needed some way to be tethered to the mortal world. While she was a plague she filled out the Nightmare King's orders and when the Nightmare King was disbursed, Kalina did whatever she could to bring her back.

Sure, she was friends with Pok but her main line was always to Cassandra to the point she would sacrifice Pok Gukgak if needed to make sure that was the case. Even then, she was loyal to Pok's son, helping him along his way as long as it didn't interfere with her plans. She knew Pok wasn't actually in Hell, that made no sense, but why not fuck with the kid who is trying to stop your centuries-long plan to bring the one person you were close with back? Hell, I would.

Kalina has always had the goals and best interest of Cassandra at heart and I don't think this will change this season. Yeah, I 1000000% think she is gonna have to earn the Bad Kid's trust back esp. Riz for killing his father.

I think this season Kalina will take the role we expected Aelwyn to have this season as the edgy older mentor-type character who is slowly but surely being redeemed. She is gonna be very important to Kristen and Riz's arcs this season and I can't wait to see what this season has in store for her.

KALINA MY BELOVED MARRY ME

You're all so fucking lucky I know this site is 80% a korean music hater because if it wasn't I'd never shut the fuck up about Dreamcatcher and how their songs apply so well to several D20 and naddpod characters anyway Chase Me is literally about chasing them into your nightmares to catch them and it's Kalina duh.

I think Kalina had a legitimate interest in the Gukgaks in her own evil way. Yes she’s is a liar and a manipulator that’s her whole thing but there’s got to be some level of truth to her saying she was close to Pok. It’s said that Riz met Kalina when he was a little kid. Pok was a spy and a good one, he wasn’t stupid. What kind of spy let’s a casual work friend meet their child? He trusted her for sure. She knew the Gukgaks well she wasn’t just a vague coworker she was important enough in their life that Sklonda noted that she didn’t attend Pok’s funeral. Kalina was evil for sure and a fantastic manipulator but I think Pok was wrong in saying that the Gukgaks were just another means to an end. I mean I think they were but also she seemed to put more effort into being a part of their lives than necessary. I think in the giant network of plagued individuals Kalina considered the Gukgak’s kind of her favorites. I don’t think she was lying when she said that she considered herself Riz’s godmother in some weird twisted way. There’s just something so interesting about the way she interacted with them.
