#just bo katan and din thoughts

I’ve seen people talk about how much they miss Omera and how much she was a better match for Din, instead of Bo-Katan. Because they had similar goals? I’m not sure the reasoning.
I liked Omera. She was a fun character during a side quest episode. She had skills that showed she probably had an interesting backstory, which didn’t get fleshed out, but added to the intrigue of her character. Plus Julia Jones is absolutely gorgeous. But Din and Omera didn’t have goals beyond raising a child. At the time of meeting Omera, Din didn’t even want to keep Grogu, he wanted his solo life back. If Omera and Din had similar goals, he would have found a reason to ‘hang up his hat’ as it were and enjoy a simple life. But that wasn’t for him.
People are frustrated with Bo and Din’s quote unquote forced relationship. Yet they are willing to accept a relationship that took less than a few days? Or in episode time, less than 45 minutes? Bo’s time with Din has lasted months now. They have had at least 8 episodes together so far and we are getting crumbs of their interest in each other, it’s not even a full blown relationship.
It’s because they don’t like Bo-Katan’s character due of her mistakes and abrasive nature when she was young. Meanwhile we know that Din used to be a cold-blooded murdered but because he’s a man it’s easy to look past that. He’s changed his ways and shows a softer nature, wanting to take care of his son and his people and we love him for that. Meanwhile Bo-Katan changes and people still don’t like her. Misogyny, much?
This past episode ‘Guns for Hire’ emphasized how everyone makes mistakes and is there not a way to show forgiveness in a galaxy so vast? Bo knows her mistakes and has paid for them. She deserves someone as good as Din, and vice versa. Their journey together could prove to be an amazing Star Wars love story and I wish people could recognize that.
I feel like deep down we can relate to Bo and Din, because who here hasn’t made dumb mistakes and wish they could start over with a good person in their life? Life should have second chances for everyone.
Mic drop!

When Din fell into the waters I was all, my god he’s being pulled by a tentacled monster. But no, actually, he just slipped over moldy rocks and sank like one to the bottom. Man weighs like a ton or two from how fast he went there. Bo-Katan literally had to jetpacked her way through her old and unfortunately occupied swimming pool to get him.

I don’t think Din Djarin ever wanted the Darksaber, despite his actions in The Book of Boba Fett.
We’ve only ever seen Din use the Darksaber out of desperation; His fight with Kaba Baiz and his men, the Scorpenek droids, the creatures on Mandalore, and the droid on Plazir-15. He’s never wielded it with a set purpose.
When Din trains with it on Glavis, it’s almost like the Armorer’s making him do it. She has to tell him to get up when he insists it’s too heavy. Din still wants to try because it’s the honorable thing to do, but he doesn’t look very enthusiastic about it.
The only time Din’s ever been defensive over the blade is when Paz challenged him for it, and that’s because Din didn’t want Paz to have it. Even if Din himself didn’t want it, he wanted the agency of choosing who it should go to.
He also wanted that person to be Bo-Katan, because he gave her his word. When he recruited her to help him get Grogu back from Moff Gideon, she said she wanted the Darksaber, and Din agreed to that. He didn’t know how he would get it to her, but he wanted her to be the one who earned it. That’s why his reasoning in season 3 felt like a cop-out to some. Din wanted Bo to have it all along, and thankfully for him, she happened to defeat an enemy who “defeated” him.

I wanna hear your helmet thoughts when you have time
helmets to din’s version of the creed are literally so amazing because of the connections and similarities of other religious/cultural head coverings. ofc, i’m not implying that the helmet is the SAME as a hijab or a turban or a niqab, they obviously have different rules and implications, but there ARE similarities, ones that a lot of people (such as hijabi’s) find comfort in seeing that sort of representation on screen.
helmets to din’s version of the creed are sacred and are to never be removed. not all mandalorians think, believe, or practice that way of course, and din’s covert specifically are the ‘warrior’ type of mandalorians, different from the pacifist type of mandalorians that were shown during saltine kryze’s rule of mandalore during the clone wars.
the pacifist type of people were not shown to be wearing helmets, and even some of the royal guards who DID wear helmets (shown under satine’s rule) did not wear the same type of helmet as the warrior mandalorians that lived on concordia, one of mandalores moons.
Tumblr media
^^ the pacifist mandalorians during the clone wars (why are they all white and blond lol space racism)
Tumblr media
^^ satine's royal guard helmets (they have similar armor but the helmet design is ofc drastically different)
most of death watch wore helmets, but they removed them casually. pre vizsla, the leader of death watch (until maul beheaded that bitch) removed his helmet openly and so did many others in the group. though they held on to the ‘warrior’ ideals of the mandalorian culture, they weren’t clearly as religious as the children of the watch.
Tumblr media
^^ pre vizsla and other members of death watch. most wear helmets while doing their goofy little terrorism but they're seen having their helmets removed often.
after the children of the watch formed from the warrior ideals of death watch, the religious aspect of the helmet and the creed formed out of necessity. the children of the watch refuse to remove the helmet for probably many reasons, as it has protected their identity and preserves their culture and creed. one thing i LOVE about the warrior culture is how because of the helmet and armor, the mandalorians have created ways of expression that are SO interesting. they’ve adapted to create the keldabe kiss, which is a tap of the foreheads of the helmets. they also have cheers such as tapping their vambraces and pounding their chest armor. they have other forms of expression that i DESPERATELY hope to see more as the mandalorian progresses.
the rules of the helmet are simple. don’t remove it. if you remove it, you become an apostate and are deemed “mandalorian no longer”. ofc because of chapter 21, the armorer has clearly shown that the adaptation of accepting helmetless mandalorians is necessary as they progress with reviving mandalore. so more recently, they’ve begun accepting other mandalorians who do not follow the Way the same as they do. that does not necessarily mean that THEY will stop following their version of the creed, it just means that they will start accepting other versions of the creed regardless of their own personal beliefs.
anyway the helmet is clearly a religious head covering that DESERVES to be respected, as it is often a window and mirror towards the audience who relate to and who learn about religious head coverings. for me, personally as a hijabi, i see the helmet as a mirror. not that the helmet IS a hijab or niqab or anything, but because it’s the head covering is a CHOICE and it PROTECTS. i know a hijabi (my lovely mutual @hinderr) who personally views the helmet as a mirror because it is an identifier. when you see the helmet, you identify the person as a mandalorian, same way as if you see a hijabi, you (usually) identify the person as a muslim.
the helmet plays a good window as well, to show the audience more religious head covering representation. not that the audience has an excuse to complain about how they don’t agree with the religion, but just to understand a new viewpoint.
moving on, i really like the idea of warrior mandalorians not being able to sneeze. you sneeze when something foreign enters your nose that your body rejects, but since the helmet filters everything, nothing foreign is entering and therefore your body has nothing to sneeze out. kinda funny honestly but it’s cool to think about the technicalities of the helmet.
one thing i HATE about this whole thing is the designs of the helmet. specifically the stupid t-visors being for men and y-visors for women. like great job favroni, way to destroy gender roles. anyway, i think the most effective style (for any gender) is the y-visor (like bo-katan’s) because it gives you a greater vantage point for the eye position. t-visor (like din’s) is fine, i just think it’d be more comfortable to have a y-visor.
Tumblr media
^^ bo-katan's y-visor helmet
Tumblr media
^^ din's t-visor helmet
you can probably get why i think y-visor has a better vantage point for vision. din's t-visor does have a ton of resources and functions that help him though. i'm not gonna assume all helmets have seals, but some of the warrior mandalorians (such as din and bo) do have seals that make it impossible to remove the helmet without force (proven bc y'all can hear the pressurized hiss when they remove the helmet)
thank you SO MUCH for asking about this, i just LOVEEE talking about din’s covert and creed and ofc the helmet is my favorite thing about it. feel free to ask or follow up with anything else you wonder about.

wait, wait, wait when grogu steps in between paz vizsla and axe woves so that they stop fighting and bo-katan tells din he taught his apprentice well and he replies to her that he didn’t learn that from him… was he implying he learned that from her ?! omg pls tell me he meant her, it makes so much sense because of the way she’s been trying to keep mandalorians together asdfghjkl they’re both raising that kid together at this point, just get married already
update: i’ve supported my claim your honour

Thinking about Din and Bo's wedding.
They would want it to be small, and they probably would just want to say the vows and get over with it, but they know that their marriage would be a uniting event for all Mndalorians, and show that their culture is thriving, so they put up with all the glam and pomp even though they both would like it toned down

Din and Bo
I've never thought I'd be venturing any of the star wars content but here I am, completely obsessed about the Mandalorian and even more with another shipping brainrot that's been on my head rent free for 24/7. I never expected to be this invested in Dinbo, this show is supposed to be something I only watch to pass the time while I wait for my favorite mangas and animes to update (Anything with found family especially parent-child I would devour) but surprise surprise after watching the Heiress episode in S2 and the whole S3, I know I'm going to go down again in this shipping rabbit hole. I was trying so hard not to ship Din and Bo but the writers, directors, concept artists and actors are making it hard for me not to. They are all on this agenda and I'm on board so they better not mess this up and take responsibility for this brainrot they've caused me.
The chemistry is chemistrying and I wanted to post some thoughts I have about them.
But I really am new to this star wars thing and the Mandalorian is the only thing I’ve watched in the star wars universe. I want to watch the Clone Wars series to fully understand Bo's character, should I?

Din takes a Dad Mid Day Nap TM and then goes outside, to the clan family garden, and sees the utter chaos that has unfolded in his absence:
- Luke is standing on the garden table wielding a wrench, engaged in what is clearly a battle to the death with Paz, who has chosen the mighty broom as his weapon. Luke is wining. He has the high ground - Obi-Wan is proud.
- Boba has put Grogu in a wheelbarrow and is using his jet pack to zoom it around.
- Cara is teaching a 5 year old Rey how to fire a rifle, that is almost as big as her. Rey is alarmingly good.
- Ahsoka, Bo-Katan and Leia are discussing the runnings of the galaxy while facing the wall and resolutely ignoring everything that is going on behind them.
- Han is still asleep on the couch. He refuses to wake up till dinner.

crazy how some people are so quick to judge that they just skip the concept of yknow... characters’ perspective. “did you think your dad was the only mandalorian?” doesn’t speak as much about grogu as it speaks about bo katan. bo katan doesn’t know that grogu has met boba fett (and actually she doesn’t consider him a mandalorian, so?), bo katan doesn’t know that din has still contact with other mandalorians from his group (does she even know whether or not the children of the watch even survived the purge?). i’m pretty sure the point is also to imply that bo katan has no idea how the children of the watch are today, how big the whole group is right now, and how they’ve actually survived all these years. it’s the whole point: to show how SCATTERED the mandalorians are. how even, yknow, “the ruler of mandalore” doesn’t know her people as of today.

Okay, you HAVE to hear me out with this idea.
Bo-Katan having such an awful and realistic nightmare that she’s practically crying.
And Dins holding her close and securely assuring her that she’s okay and eventually is able to calm her down. And from then on the rest of the night, Bo sleeps next to Din with Grogu huddled in the middle of them :)

so. like.
we're gonna assume din was about 10 when he was adopted as a foundling.
given that pedro pascal is nearly 48, i should assume din is probably in his 40s, too. we'll say 40 to keep it round.
so that's 30 years, three decades, of nobody saying his name.
everyone is calling him din djarin now, including paz and the armorer.
for the past 30 years, what the fuck else did they call him? and why didn't they call him din before now?

Okay, breaking my silence on this. I think Din Djarin, Bo-Katan Kryze and the Armorer are all aroace and, as such, don’t ship any romantic ships involving any of them.

What was even the point of the season two finale? Is season three just Dave and Jon erasing the finale? The best episode of the Mandalorian and (in my opinion) Star Wars?
Season 2 finale: Din wins the darksaber
Season 3: Din loses the darksaber
Season 2 finale: Din and Grogu heartbreakingly but beautifully part ways
Season 3: jk they’re together again 😜
Season 2 finale: Moff Gideon is captured
Season 3: oh no Moff Gideon escaped!!!
Season 2 finale: Din takes off his helmet, sacrificing his culture for his son
Season 3: nm took a lil dip and all is forgiven helmet’s never coming off again
Like commit to the bit, boys. Don’t be lazy. Plot matters.

Not me thinking Jon Favreau in his first production for the MCU literally gave us this ship:
Tumblr media
And Dave Filoni in Rebels gave us this one:
Tumblr media
Not me thinking Din and Bo are a weird mix of Pepperony and Kanera 😆
