ART LEAGUE RI is proud to present a new call for entry for the open juried national exhibition: Art Speaks. This exhibition celebrates works of art that compose, hold, share, and tell a story. Make your story heard, give your art voice. The selected works will be on display at the Art League RI Gallery and prizes will be awarded to the creators of the top three pieces. Members of Art League RI are eligible for a $15 discount on the entry fee by emailing [email protected]. Additional information and registration is available on CaFÉ. JUROR: David Allyn Allyn received his MFA from RISD and attended undergraduate studies in Wisconsin, the state of his origin. Upon completion of his graduate studies in 2003, Allyn founded the community clay program at The Steel Yard, an arts education non-profit based in Providence Rhode Island, now in its 19th year. Allyn has been awarded a McKnight Fellowship and been chosen as a Rhode Island State Council of The Arts Fellow. His work has been included in several museum permanent collections, including the Newport Art Museum, and the Museum of Art at Rhode Island School of Design. Eight prizes were awarded between these groups, including six juried Excellence Prizes and two People’s Choice Awards selected by the visiting public. Successive images that once appeared immaterial are coterminously reverse-engineered into tactile, obdurate objects. These works reveal how the unconscious has been branded by advertising formulas redolent of monotonous imagery of the commodity form, and how the subversive hybrid of these methods metaphorically maps a similarly disruptive kind of complex new identity. Just received the fabulous news that my painting 'Me and My Girl' has been juried into this year's Artists for Conservation International Exhibition. This painting showcases the incredible Australian Gang Gang cockatoo. AFC represents 500 of the world's leading wildlife/nature artists from 30 countries, supporting wildlife conservation through art. I am extreemly honoured to be one of the 40 percent selected out of more than 400 entries for this year's exhibition.
