The whole idea that by washing bones and trying to scrub the blood, is impossible. You can't wash the blood from your hands as you can't wash the shame from the war. But also it was important to transcend it, that can be used, this image, for any war, anywhere in the world. So to become from personal there can be universal.
— Marina Abramović
In this visceral performance, Marina Abramovic sits amidst a vast heap of bloody cow bones, meticulously washing them while singing folk songs from her youth. Titled "Balkan Baroque," the piece is a response to the scars of war in her homeland, the former Yugoslavia. Three video projections convey themes of violence and trauma.
The artist spends four days amidst 1,500 fresh beef bones, her dress increasingly stained by blood. The piece unabashedly confronts death's brutality and the body's grotesqueness, evoking an overwhelming response from viewers, almost consuming in its portrayal of violence and mortality. Despite the scene's magnitude resembling a mass grave, Abramovic skillfully retains a sense of grieving the individual amidst this immense portrayal of death.
How about a brand new image? I haven't been as productive shooting lately, most of my time in the woods now consists of volunteer work, foraging and collecting slime mold samples. But I couldn't say no this beautiful Autumnal scene just holding on before the throes of winter.
Yes yes yes i know big great crystalized just dropped and everyone’s worked up about it but look at this
WHY DIDN’T FIRE CHAPTER GO LIKE THIS
THIS LOOKS SO COOL
Like imagine the ninja somehow losing Kai in the pyramid and thinking he’s dead
But him getting lucky and surviving, waking up, seeing all this chaos and kinda just assuming that the others are dead
And the main fire chapter plot being about Kai going on this solo adventure, living in his car, fighting Pyro Vipers all over Ninjago, mourning his friends’ “deaths” and being realllly depressed, kinda like Lloyd in S9
While the ninja are fighting Aspheera in Ninjago City and mourning Kai
There are a lot of details to figure out, but come on, this would’ve worked
One of my oldest fully digital pieces, and one i want to do more of. It was a big step forward for me.
