Top Secret Documents Judge Judge Cannon Indefinitely Postpones Trump’s Stashed Mar-A-Lago Top Secret Documents Trial –Tampa Florida reporting
Judge Aileen Cannon has indefinitely postponed former President Trump’s Mar-a-Lago documents case, punting some court dates into late July while declining to set a trial date.
The Tuesday order — issued less than two weeks before Trump’s trial was still on the books to kick off on May 20 — leaves unclear when Trump’s case will ever come before a jury.
Cannon pinned the delay on the need to resolve numerous issues dealing with how classified information will be handled at trial, details governed by the Classified Information Procedures Act (CIPA).

Attorney General Alan Wilson Hosts Second Judicial Reform Panel Discussion
Attorney General Alan Wilson hosted a second panel discussion on the critical need for judicial reform with South Carolina Republican Party Chairman Drew McKissick and Palmetto Family Council Executive Director and Interim President Mitch Prosser. “Our current system for selecting judges is imbalanced. Dear Lebanon,
Please review the 2018 rules the Commonwealth enacted: it’s called Clean Slate
We know you loved to disobey Tom Wolf but this fantastic legislature will stop you from ruining someone’s reputation. DA Hess - stop hanging out with the cops and ensure those judges follow these rules!

YOU FUCKING CRAVEN COLLABORATING MOTHER FUCKERS.
Yet again a court gives Trump more time, more chances, more leniency. It seems there is barely a court in America that will not contort itself and the law to benefit this mob boss and dictator in waiting. And when a court does it's duty, as with the judges who disqualified Trump from the ballot as in insurrectionist in accordance with section three of the Fourteenth amendment, SCOTUS, with its six bought and perjured conservative majority and three Trump appointees, can simply overrule them and say the Constitution is whatever they want it to be.
If he were a poor Black man, if he were ANYONE ELSE who'd done a fraction of what he has done, he'd be in prison for life already. Of course, a poor Black man could not do even a fraction of what he has done, because they would never have the power and the privilege to twist the country to their whims and inflict evil on such a scale. Once again, it is those with the most power who are the least accountable.
Just remember: many judges in the US are elected, and those who aren't are nominated and confirmed by people who are. If we lose in November there may never be another meaningful vote in America, but for now, we can still do something about these pieces of shit, by voting out Republican judges and state officials, and primarying Democratic ones who are too lax in upholding the law.

Is anyone willing to explain where the rumour that Ace Attorney is supposed to be a critique/parody of the actual Japanese legal system even originated from? I spent a few days reading and skimming through Shu Takumi interviews, and he and the other writers/developpers seem pretty adamant on insisting that the court system is based on nothing at all. Takumi himself even mentions that he avoids referencing anything that draws explicitly from real life in his games to make them more "universal" and less likely to feel outdated.

look I think death note is a really poignant satire of the japanese justice system.
(im not japanese but i am american so. im not saying the japanese justice system is worse than my country's or anything)
japan has one of the lowest homicide rates in the world, and one of the reasons for that is because homicides aren't fucking reported as homicides. they're reported as heart attacks or suicides, because the japanese police just want to say that they have a low murder rate and a high solve rate for murder cases: on a personal level they want good numbers so they can get promoted, but on a societal level they want the police to remain the good guys in the eyes of the public. and that's light. "heart attacks" and "suicides" and "accidents" all actually murders, covered up to uphold the societal ideal of the law as the ultimate good.
in japan, 99% of people charged with crimes are convicted. innocent people falsely accused are put under enormous pressure to confess, at which point they often crack under the pressure and accept conviction. and that's L. he put a lot into the theory that light was the culprit even when he had nothing to go on and indeed evidence to the contrary, because he had no other suspects. and remember when he fucking had misa tortured ????? bound standing up with her eyes covered even when it couldn't have been clearer that they weren't going to get a confession out of her and it had been weeks? and he kept it up pretty much solely because he was too proud to admit that he had been wrong, or at least that this wasn't working.
in that way, light is the corrupt police force, and L is the corrupt judicial system. together they make the system of justice, but do either of them actually believe in that? they say they do, but light's "justice" is deference to the law, or rather, the status quo that the law represents; L's "justice" is having someone in prison, someone to blame, and the same perpetuation of the status quo. ideally they'd be able to keep each other in check - the police to arrest a corrupt judge, the court to convict a corrupt officer - but they're really exactly the same. light killed lind l. tailor, but L is the one who sent him to die.
it isn't 1:1 allegorical but it doesn't have to be. it's a thought-provoking and scathing criticism of what the japanese government calls justice. I think it's solid social commentary
