ok but do you know what the best part about The Folk Of The Air is? Jude stayed human. This IS the main concept of the series and i don't see many people appreciate it enough. SO MANY books have the usual- 'main character waking up one day and finding out they have had powers all along' - i find that so over used and annoying, but that wasn't the case with jude and it has got to be the number one reason why i love her & this series. Jude conquered an entire kingdom, became The High Queen Of Elfhame & made her place in Faerie, all while she was still a human and had no magical powers. My girl worked very hard to achieve the skills she has. She wasn't born with it. I AM SO PROUD OF HER, she inspires me sm and at so many different levels. we're humans too, & i find comfort in the thought that this is what we'll always have in common with her.

I cannot thank Holly Black enough for this.

I countered that Cardan went through the five stages of grief writing those letters, and each deserved it's own illustration. I will never get over the fact that Jude and Cardan just kissed in bed after their wedding vows. Because that's?? The sweetest thing ever?? Like Jude was stuck in the Undersea for a while and Cardan got poisoned and almost died as well so they were both tired and probably wanted to be vulnerable with eachother after their vows of "partnership" (ahemMarriageahem).

Just imagining them all tangled up and in eachother's arms... Exchanging soft kissies under the covers after Cardan made flowers bloom in their room... Them probably caressing eachother and holding eachother as they kiss, their eyes closed but then they sleepily open them from time to time to look at eachother under the moonlight. I abduzjejzjsjzj

actually wild of holly black to write cardan’s arc so powerfully that I went from genuinely hating him and never believing I’d like him to thinking “ok so maybe he’s not awful ALL the time” to desperately rooting for him and furiously wanting him to be loved and happy over the span of three books. like tfota was WILD for doing that (and doing it so well)

Ladies and gentlemen, it is with great pleasure that I announce to you, after a decade, jude still steals Cardan's clothes and even wears them in front of the kingdom.
