This manhwa’s FL is an author who wants to get into writing smut because she needs money. Her sex scenes suck because she has never done the deed before, so obviously she needs to do some research. What I really love about this manhwa is it’s hot but also really funny, I was actually laughing out loud. The FL is super refreshing and fun. This story is just a really good time, also it’s completed.

Not CSM related, but the fucked up realization I had after I reread early « What It Means to be You » manhwa chapters is that every nobles who had encounter with Winter is either racist or super greedy. No wonder he's so angry when Violet accidentally call him a slur, an "outsider".

I think this is another thing than family abuse that most manhwa readers often forgot when talking about his characterization and his motives. Why he has inferior complex. Why he thinks everyone must hate him. Why he is so materialistic.

I'm talking about "Internalized racism."

And it's NOT even subtext, this narratives is a SLAP on the face. But even after that, I never found any other fellow readers talked about this.

Let's be real here. The first thing the Margrave family thought to get a business deal with him is not to do an actual meeting but using millitary forces. The old nobles are legit willing to do brutality just because they see him lesser than them. If not because of their son stopping them, they will absolutely fkin did that.

Even Violet's NICEST friends are subtly racist towards Winter.... They got called out by Winter HIMSELF, but no one bat an eye. No one read it this way, right?

This racism is systematical. It passed through older generation to the young. Even though it seems to be tamer than the old days, it's still there. The generational traumas, the stereotypes, "the uneasiness" are still there.

Real sad hours to think Winter outwardly admit that he don't want to have kids who would looks like him (silver eyes, etc) with Violet in the early WIMTBY days because he don't want his kids to experience the same racial traumas as him. To the point he prefer Violet to have kids with another man. This is another level of pain and I'm sfwhskawlalsl 😭😭😭.

It's always "Oh, Winter is so bad" , "Why he is so insecure, he's rich! His life is better now why he still think of his past!" , "Winter is so cruel to other person except Violet" etc etc, but never "He become cruel like that because it's his defend mechanism. For him, being seen as intimidating is better than being seen as weak and get oppressed because of that."

If that's not a product of racism, I don't know what it is.

There's no winning in this situation, man. I think I just hit myself with a massive brick. This is what happen when rofan author decided to put a little bit too much realism in their works. It's a great portrayal though. It just that... not everyone get it at first reading.

"So you want us to reread WIMTBY? Are you insane?"

Yes. I know I sound crazy when I say WIMTBY is my comfort read. But really, there's so much to unwrap here that might not seems obvious until some reread. It's not just an angst p000rn when you realized the deeper meanings behind it.

And I don't want to see anyone compare Winter to literal r4p1st like Ruve and Alecto ever again. He never tried to abuse Violet in any way, it's purely miscommunication. His character is a product of racism that resulted in toxic masculinity. He is not close to allat tr4shy men.

Hi! I finished reading Yeonwoo's Innocence last night, and I'm so happy I stumbled upon this story. I wasn't expecting it to be so deep and emotional. These characters have become so precious to me! I was wondering, do you know of any other story that has a similar relationship dynamic as Haesol and Yeonwoo? I need something else while I wait for the upcoming chapters! 😩

Well i'll tell you now that NOTHING holds a candle to these two (I'm incredibly bias)

When it comes to role reversal content where the girl is the more dominant one and the guy is more willingly submissive it is always going to be a hit or miss because the creator never takes it seriously and fully dives into what the dynamic will look like, it is just played off as a joke and the roles turn back into heteronormative standards or sadly and what is most common the guy is just a toy for the girl and there are not only heavy power imbalances but also non-consentual intimacy and than some.

So finding a story like Yeonwoo's Innocence that not only goes into psychology of the characters, the story is compelling and interesting while the romance is actually a role reversal is very rare. It's even rare that it is done so well and so much care is taken into it.

Yet again I'm very biased cuz this series is currently my hyper fixation and I am not coming out anytime soon

Now though there is some hope the few works I can think of that is similar to Yeonwoo's Innocence are

Looking up to you (manga) by Kobori Makoto- this series is honestly very cute. it is very similar to Yeonwoo's Innocence the only problem is that it leaves you wanting more.

Nude Model (manga) by Yamaguchi Tsubasa (creator of blue period) - this one is about a delinquent who plays a bet with his friends to see if he can seduce and hwt with the school lomer girl but a twist.

Pheromomania Syndrome by Ichiha- this one is a comedy and it's essentially a lot of teasing. This one is a cute romance about a tall handsome girl and short adorable childhood friend. The premise is basically she's in love with him but can't do anything to him because her thoughts about him are deranged and unholy. (Even though he makes it clear he doesn't mind) It's cute but teases the hell out of you.

This girl is a little wild (Manhwa) -

Honestly amazing. It's a reincarnation manhwa with a twist. not a modern to fantasy reincarnation but one where a holy knight in a intense fight with the demon king, her soul gets switched with a noble woman's. The story is compelling but the romance is even more so. The male lead is the captain of the guard and because both of our leads have experience as soldiers and fighting the rules of society and especially the ones regarding how men and women interact completely goes over their heads. It's just amazing. its similar to Yeonwoo's Innocence in that the two obviously like each other and are close but can't realize it to save their lives.

Those are the few I could think of someone also recommended seasons of blossom to me so maybe check that one out too. I hope you liked some of these recommendations.
