Happy Holidays!!!

So I tried to draw the #riseoftheguardians characters on how I remembered them. Yep there are totally details that I've missed, added, and changed entirely. 😝

Now let's see how did I do with my memory art game with the comparisons below:

Starting off with the prime JACK of the whole FROST in countries experiencing winter today:

Ran out of white pen so I got to have to think on how to execute the snowy effects on his hoodie though. Dunno why I gave him some sort of like colds with his ruddy cheeks and red nose when he basically is responsible for the chill! 😅

Now up to the NORTH Pole

I say, almost though. Could've made his beard more grey than white though. Was originally gonna include the elves but they would definitely be an additional time to render so...

Next holiday stop, Easter and boy, lezze the atrocity I did with BUNNYMUND

I've always remembered that he has some lines like some sort of tattoo running around his arms and legs. I had also put in my memo that he kinda resemble Nicholas ( ̶S̶t̶.̶ ̶N̶O̶R̶T̶H̶) Cage but never achieved it. Didn't know how I remembered him with a bangs though

Now onto something much sweeter that will definitely lose some tooth (or teeth?) :

I was actually most definitely proud of her among the others on how I imagined her in spite of her having the most changes to her design so... 😊

Now, let's journey to the SANDY realm of dreams and meet another fellow I didn't get quite right

Didn't know how I remembered the idea that his sleeves look like sands trailing around him though. All I know is he's in his pajamas which also kinda explains the frizzy hair like he just woke up but I definitely had given him a strange-looking bathrobe 😝 Sorry SANDY, I hope this doesn't summon the nightmares in your own dreams if you also do dream

And speaking of Nightmares... Hope we don't meet the Boogeyman when the room's all PITCH BLACK!

Wanna take pride that I got him accurately if only I didn't actually given him a high collar. Well thanks for the shading that it kind amade that collar vanished into the soupy black shadows I surrounded him. I've always imagined him as some kind of a Dracula or a vampiric figure (it didn't help that I remembered him on how basically most people saying that he looks kind of like Edward Cullen.)

Overall, I kinda had given some human figures pointy ears since they seem elf-like to me since they are similarly fabled creatures in stories about fairies and dwarfs and all sort of enchantment.

Hope you enjoyed them as well as I've enjoyed painting them. Might try this kind of challenge to other animated characters because it will definitely test your memory skill and how you pay attention watching, and simply, this is just so much fun!

Happy Holidays Again! And hoping for a blissful New Year of 2023 Ahead! May Father Time make way to a new-born year in a form of a bouncing healthy babe to all of us!

The Rotgoc fandom is no stranger to misconceptions, like somehow saying Jokul Frosti is Jacks norse counterpart when Jokul n Frosti are two seperate spirits etc. You guys know that I'm sure.

One that nags at me is the notion that Jack Frost and "Father Frost" are the same person or spirit. In my research for the Christmas spirits, I've learned quite a bit about Father Frost, and its very clear that he isn't Jack. Father Frost is North, or related to him.

Father Frost comes from a Russian Folktale that goes as follows;

A stepmother orders her husband to take the stepdaughter out in the wilderness to die. The girl is freezing at the foot of a tree and Father Frost appears. Instead of fearing him she's said to be nice to him despite her circumstances. Touched by the girl, Father Frost dresses her in warm fine linens to keep her warm and gives her a chest full of gems. The Stepmother sends her husband to fetch the girls body to bury and to his surprise the girl is just fine. Stepmother is enraged but curious how the girl got such nice things. So, she sends her own daughter out in the same place the stepdaughter nearly died in, to get the same valuable stuff. Father Frost appears but the girl is rude to him, probably demanding the same things as her stepsister. Insulted, Father Frost punishes her by allowing her to freeze to death.

Moral of the story is don't be greedy ig. So whats the connection to North? Father Frost sounds more like a winter spirit than Santa right? Ehhhh kind of. Father Frost is based off of the Slavic counterpart of Santa, Ded Moroz(This is the Russian spelling of his name.) Ded Moroz is said to be either a winter wizard, snow demon. Back then he was mostly called "Morozoko" or "ded". He was reformed to resemble more of Santa around the time of Soviet occupation.

Now, the early iteration of Ded Moroz could resemble Jack Frost, why the literal translation for his name is Grandfather Frost. However, just because Frost is in his name doesn't mean they're related. Ded Moroz resembles Santa more these days or St.Nicholas...so who's Ded Moroz?

Keep in mind I'm not Russian or Slavic, Eastern European countries have differing versions of Santa/St.Nicholas that could just be aliases for North. A reasonable assumption is Ded Moriz is an alias for North. I suppose if you stretched it maybe Ded Moriz could be seperate from Jack or North but due to the evolution of Ded Moroz's character it makes it hard to split him from Santa.

Regardless, I can kind of see why some would tie him to Jack Frost but if you read more about Father Frost/Ded Moroz, it's pretty clear the two barely have any association.

The Big Four - American Gods AU

Hiccup is a pet store employee and a volunteer in an animal rescue group. He adopted a black cat named Toothless with bicolor pupils from an animal shelter in high school and has kept it ever since. Every time he sees an animal in trouble, he instinctively rescues it.

The green chameleon found by the street is the per belonged to the youth goddess, the injured brown bear rescued in the forest is actually the family of the goddess of war, the hummingbird with a broken wing is actually the messenger of the God of Winter, and so on. The old gods hide their identities and live as usual humans in the human world, and are connected with Hiccup for his help with the animals, giving him quiet attention and playing tricks on him. However, the peace ended recently, when some of the old gods discovered that a horse Hiccup had been helping to feed turned out to be the Dark God's spirit animal.

Hiccup’s memory was blocked and he did not know his true identity was Vidar, the Norse God of primitive nature and forest. The dark god used the contradiction between human and nature to trigger the war of the gods, and then the Moon God blocked his memory as a god. The scar left on his lip during the war is the key to unlock his memory.

- Jack Frost -

The elusive silver-haired boy, an apprentice at an antique toy shop, is actually Jokul Frosti, the God of Winter. He participated in the great in war of the gods and had his memories stolen. North helped him disguise as an apprentice to find his identity, since then he has been in the identity of Jack Frost and is trying to find the old gods around the world. After learning that his hummingbird had been saved by Hiccup, Jaco secretly visited him on a snowy winter day. Due to the weather, Hiccup thought Jack was a phantom at that time. He would play pranks on Hiccup but will help him out when Hiccup is actually in danger.

- Rapunzel -

The real identity of this girl that’s living on the hill tower house was Idun, the Norse goddess of youth. She was in charge of the golden apples that could keep the gods young in the age of the old Gods. However, due to the chaos of the war of the gods, she transferred the power of these golden apples to her long hair, and was the only god who did not need believers to sacrifice. Did not participate in the Great War of gods, but disappeared after that. Since Sunday is the Idun day of the sun so she often appears on Sunday, also known as Miss Sunday. The forces from all across the world desperately sought her to use her power. Knows Hiccup’a true identity the first time she saw him.

- Nicolas St. North -

The winter sun god, who the Slavs believed represented the weak and old sun, was defeated by the Black God and died, but would be revived on the winter solstice as the new god Koleda (meaning "Christmas "). He was the god of war and war in Slavic mythology, and was the supreme god among the Slavs along the Baltic Sea. The War of the Gods ended in defeat when Hiccup was used, and then they tried to find all the old gods to prevent the return of the Black God.

- Merida -

The keeper of pastures and forests, her real identity is one of the major gods in Celtic mythology, Morrigan, the goddess of war. She was once the main object of worship for the armies in the Old Gods era, and had a close relationship with the nature god Hiccup, who was indirectly used because she did not participate in the great war of the gods. Since then she has been watching his movements and alert for the return of the bla

1 - Would, when finding about the Jack Frost Protection Club, join after learning how the moon messed up and be like “the gods have their ways but introduce me to this god because I can slice him with my axe” “please don’t” “Shush Jack. Let the adults talk.” Cue confused puppy look from Jack

2 - Think Jack is Jokul Frosti and Jack, after hearing that the Berkians have a love/hate relationship with snow, but know him as a god, sings “It’s Tough to Be A God” while trying to convince Astrid that snow can be good for anything but also being like “apparently I’m a good. This is my life now.” And Eugene and Lance are being the background dancers because why the heck not (they live for chaos)

3 - See how Jack and Hiccup interact and be like “Hi I’m Astrid and this is my boyfriend Hiccup, and this Hiccup’s boyfriend Jack” because let’s be honest that’s exactly what’s happening here

4 - See Angry and Catalina and train them immediately in how to fight with axes

She'd have the classic "nobody can bully them except ME" relationship with Jack, no doubt. She's either rolling her eyes at him or shielding him with her body, no inbetween

So the same person in the Rise of the Guardians discord server that's obsessed with the Jack Frost cosplayer I mentioned earlier posted in the original art channel. I'm looking at it and I'm like wait a minute, this isn't their character. This original character belongs to someone else and their passing it off as their own. That really grinded my gears as an artist myself.

I don't remember the name of the original artist, but they had a lot of Tumblr fanart back in the day. One in particular being Jokul Frosti, Jack's dark counterpart.

@just-mebs I think it's just one very bored person who keeps coming into my ask box the past 3 months. I don't know why but they are violently angry that my Jack is Lenape, because it conflicts with the fandom fave Jokul Frosti headcanon, they hate how I portrayed Pitch in Calefaction and claim I mislead them into thinking it would have a blackice subplot (???) and that I need to tag April Showers as dubcon since Bunny kissed Jack without consent.

There's a whole laundry list of other things but I delete them now without reading past the first two sentences. This person is currently picking apart my fics and sending me copy pasted segments with their opinion on why that specific scene is problematic. (Which is why i believe its just one person) Also I apparently judge Pitch too harshly (mass murderer) but give Bunny a pass for also being cruel (saying mean things in an argument)
