So food wars… is such a perverted anime…

BUT.

The character Dev for soma and his dad is just so good?!

Like that flashback of Joichiro (soma’s dad), being overwhelmed with too many expectations, such a foil to Soma’s no one cares attitude, and then the ending of that episode of how soma saved his dad and helped him start liking cooking again?! TOP TIER writing! It was so beautiful.

Soma’s main quality is his never give up attitude, something people admire a lot about him. How many ever losses he suffers, he gets back up, ready to learn, fight and make others eat their words. Man just never losses his cool, even in win or be expelled situations. And he doesn’t depend on anyone but himself in the start which was his negative trait but slowly he begins to start making his work better by learning to lean on his friends and their support that they offer him freely after his own encouragement and lack of arrogance and general friendliness.

Not to say he doesn’t have an ego, he does, and it hurts every time he losses, but he keeps trying nevertheless and strives to perfect his craft and he puts his efforts on to that instead of defending his skills or whatever, boasting. And he is still sorta arrogant or rather ambitious to aim for the top spot in a cooking school full of genius chefs and people with various specialties- but he never looses his cool, always willing to observe and learn and do better everyday… his other speciality is is his strive towards ultimate customer satisfaction that he does so for each of his own competitors and makes sure that he will learn from every loss and keep improving rather than be embarrassed. That’s the show basically, that’s his gimmick. At first it was a bit boring but seeing the other characters’ arcs and growth and this guy in the background makes you realize the reality of his character and it’s such a great arc and then juxtaposing that with his dad, the wandering chef’s past and his abilities, simply amazing.

But I still hate all the naked stuff and the moaning and yeeesh guys it’s a show about food like stop being weird about it yikes

But it’s Azami…Azami got the secret baby….that was the true twist of the season. Asahi being his secret baby was there along since he (like Azami) is dark but very pale, obsessed with Joichiro, wanted to use Erinafor his own goals, & doesn’t like Soma at first because of his closeness to Joichiro & Erina. It was def a copy and paste in the dna!

History will show that them Yukihira men just know how to make this "ba-baka" family act up in some way, shape or form. It is truly generational.

You held up the fruit rollup while he had a confused and concerned look in his face. All he could think about is what the hell goes through your mind sometimes or what do you watch when he is not there. He let a sigh out as he nodded his head.

Your eyes lit up as you quickly pulled down his sweatpants and briefs. You took the fruit rollup and unwrapped it from the plastic. "Hey... Soma."

"Dad?"

"You alright?"

"Yeah. What about you? Did something happen?"

Indeed, Joichiro looked worn physically, as if he had been in a shokugeki, and a tough one at that. It was eyes however, that indicated he had dealt with something far more mentally and spiritually grueling.

'The last time I ever saw that look on Dad's face was when his mom passed away,' The red-headed teen thought to himself. 'But wait, does that mean grandpa-" Soma started to worry, fearing for his grandfather's well-being. He had spoken to him recently, just to make sure he was okay. However, before he could continue with his thoughts, his father's voice brought him back to reality.

"Don't worry, your grandpa's doing well, I checked up on him just now," Joichiro calmly reassured his son. Not too long after seeing him relax slightly at this positive news, the owner of the Yukihira Diner's face sharpened as he continued. "Although, there is something I need to talk to you about, Soma. It's... a really serious matter."

"Serious? Like what?"

Giving a brief pause, Joichiro replied.

"It's about Asahi."

"Asahi?", the young man spoke, curious as to what his dad had to say in regards to the culinary revolutionary that had infiltrated into Totsuki as teacher and had crushed the Nakiri family and beforehand several others in the name of his extreme goals.

"I challenged him to a shokugeki. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to beat him."

"What?! You couldn't beat him? You actually lost?" The possibility of his dad losing absolutely flabbergasted Soma, even if his goal was to defeat his old man. "Does that mean you're a part of Noir now?" Soma said as an uneasy feeling began to overcome him. The two had numerous shokugekis, and while each had ended in defeat for the red-haired teenager, often of the crushing variety, not a single one hadn't been fun. But the idea of being forced to go against his old man was something he never hoped would happen.

Once again, seeing the unease on his son's face led Joichiro to help set him mind more at ease. "I said I wasn't able to beat him. That doesn't mean he walked away with a victory."

Slightly puzzled at first, Soma began to wonder what that meant. However, it took little time for him to realize what that meant.

"It ended in a draw?"

"Yeah. Neither of us could hold back. Although, I was hoping it would never have to come to this."

"Huh?"

"Soma, remember when I spoke to you before the start of the school year about me trying to find someone? Someone whom I hadn't seen in years?"

"Yeah, I do. Was it him you were looking for?"

"Yes. He is. I've spent so long looking for him. I've been... so worried about him. I just can't believe it's come to this."

The next thing to come out of his dad's mouth left Soma even more confused.

"This is all my fault. I should've gotten him away from her when I had the chance. Then you wouldn't have to be dealing with all this." As soon as he said that, Joichiro's eyes turned towards the ground and his expression became one of guilt and shame.

Something Soma had NEVER seen on his dad's face.

"Dad? What are you talking about?"

Pausing for a moment, Joichiro spoke again.

"Soma, I know I haven't explained everything to you about my past. However, from the day your mother and I had you, we decided we would tell you everything as soon as I accomplished what I set out to do, or when we believed you were ready. I meant to tell you as soon as your first year was finished, but, after everything that happened that year, I was afraid it'd overwhelm you. But, it seems as if now is the time."

"It is? What are you going to tell me?"

"I'm sorry, but it's something I need to tell you in private. Please, follow me."
