Unlike Jo, Amy embraces her budding womanhood, which she feels empowers rather than diminishes her. At sixteen, she has the air and bearing of a full-grown woman” and has “learned to use the gift of fascination with which she was endowed.” Although not a natural beauty like Meg, the blonde, blue-eyed Amy easily succeeds at making herself into a fashionable work of art, gaining first the attention of Laurie's college friends, then Fred Vaughn, and finally Laurie himself. It is not only with men that she succeeds, however. She wins over her fellow art school students, the mean girls at the fair, and then her aunts, one of whom takes her to Europe. Once abroad, Amy blossoms further. “Always mature for her age,” she now becomes “more of a woman of the world.” She enjoys her power over men (including Laurie) and tears around Nice in her own carriage, taking the reins herself and yelling out to Laurie in the street, her “free manners” scandalizing a French mother who hurries her young daughter in the opposite direction. Amy was the daring American girl abroad ten years before the publication of Henry James's Daisy Miller. In the end, of course, Amy wins Laurie and decides that she won't be an artist after all (because she possesses talent but not genius, something Laurie also discovers about his music). Readers often forget that Amy wants to become a famous artist because she gives it up so easily. She will become instead, as the wealthy Laurie's wife, “an ornament to society.” To many readers, Amy has seemed to be the clear winner among the four March sisters. In her New York Times essay “Amy Had Golden Curls; Jo Had a Rat. Who Would You Rather Be?” film and book critic Caryn James wrote that favoring Amy over the other girls was a "no-brainer." Pretty Amy went to Europe, had adventures, and married the dashing boy next door, while Jo lived in a dumpy boardinghouse in New York and married a boring professor. - Anne Boyd Rioux, Meg, Jo, Beth, Amy: The Story of Little Women and Why It Still Matters

Wired's Autocomplete Interview
Word Count: 1.8k
Category: Fluff
Warning: one swear word
Summary: After 3 years of being together, Harry and actress!YN are finally costars and do WIRED’s Autocomplete interview.
harry x actress!yn masterlist
..
Harry Styles & Y/N Y/L/N Answer the Web’s Most Searched Questions | Wired
“Hi, I’m Harry Styles,” Harry raised one hand up in a wave, a bashful smile on his face.
“I’m Y/N Y/L/N,” you smiled from your seat beside your boyfriend, “And this is Wired’s autocomplete interview.”
Upbeat music could be heard as the screen then shifted to show a grey background with a text written on it:
Autocomplete suggests the most common searches on the internet
The screen then moved to you and Harry again, showing a clip from the 10-minute video, “Don’t say it,” you said.
“Am I?” Harry asked.
“Oh, fuck off!” You waved him off, Harry erupting in laughter.
The screen changed again to its grey background, this time with another text:
So WIRED asked Harry Styles and Y/N Y/L/N some of the internet’s burning questions
Showing you and Harry again, you had the white foam board in your hands, looking down at it, “What is Y/N Y/L/N,” you read before peeling the white sticker, showing the rest of the sentence, “Like in real life?”
“Very annoying, I think,” Harry joked, answering quietly with a teasing smirk on his face as he looked at you.
“Ha, ha,” you rolled your eyes jokingly at him, “What am I like in real life?”
“You’re incredible,” he said before looking at the camera, “She’s a wonderful person.”
You smiled, “You’re quite nice, too, you know?”
“Yeah?” He beamed, chuckling as you giggled.
“What is Y/N Y/L/N’s diet?” You read, before looking at the camera, “It’s,” you paused, only staring at the camera for a second before looking back at the board, “Next question.”
Harry giggled, rubbing the tip of his nose as he did.
“What is Y/N Y/L/N’s favorite Harry Styles song?” You read, humming as you looked at him.
“Good question,” he teased.
You chuckled, staying quiet in thought, “There’s too many, I can’t pick,” you said, still looking at him.
“There has to be that one song that just-like, really gets to you.”
“I really don’t know,” you laughed, “I love them all so much. There’s a song for every mood.”
“That’s a good answer,” he said with a smile, “That was a good answer.”
“Was it?” You smiled, looking back at the board, “What is Y/N Y/L/N’s favorite director?” You read, “Um, I think-God, there’s a few,” you chuckled lightly, “Right on top of my list is Greta Gerwig. I trust Greta with my whole life to just-to always give us something so raw, and just-something so beautiful and heartfelt,” you answered, “I also really love David Fincher.”
“I was very excited for you when you were in Little Women with Greta,” Harry told you.
“I called you crying when I got the role,” you giggled before looking at the camera, bringing your thumb and pinky out and near your ear to signal a phone, “I got the role as Jo March, I got the role as Jo March,” you mimicked yourself, pretending to cry.
Harry giggled, “You were so excited. I was–I was very excited for you.”
“You were,” you smiled, your lips only widening when Harry wrapped his arm around your shoulder, giving you a squeeze.
The screen then cut to Harry holding a board of his own, lips pursed for a second before he read, “Is Harry Styles,” he began before peeling the sticker, “Famous?”
“Who?” You joked.
“I have no idea who that is,” Harry went along, giggling as he did so. “Is Harry Styles single?”
Harry feigned a confused expression, furrowing his eyebrows as he glanced from the camera to you, “Am I?”
“I don’t know, are you?” You asked him, stifling your smile.
He looked back at the camera, raising one finger, “I’m actually not.”
You gasped dramatically, “Sad news. Sad, sad news.”
“It’s actually happy news,” he said, looking at you, “I’m dating someone–you might know her actually,” he teased, “This tall,” he raised his hand, “Lovely smile, very successful. She’s an Acadamy Award winner actually.”
Despite your warm cheeks and shy smile, you shook your head at the camera, “No idea who that could be.”
“Is Harry Styles a good singer?” Harry read before looking at you with a small smile and a confused face, “Am I?”
“You just want me to answer your questions for you now,” you laughed, shaking your head, “Am I?” You mimicked him, “Are you?”
“Could I be?”
“Is it possible?”
“I guess we’ll never really know,” he shrugged with a smile.
“You got the worst person to answer questions,” you told the crew behind the camera, laughing along with them before looking at your boyfriend, “You’re an incredible singer.”
Teasingly, Harry giggled at you, “Am I?”
“Harry!” You squeezed his arm with a laugh.
The video then cut to Harry with his board again, “Is Harry Styles on a tour?” He read before nodding, “Yes, I am.”
“He’s been on tour for like 4 years,” you joked.
“4 more to go!” He exclaimed jokingly.
Reading the last question, Harry peeled the sticker off as he read, “Is Harry Styles British?”
“Don’t say it.”
“Am I?”
“Oh fuck off,” you waved him off, your curse word getting bleeped in the video as your boyfriend laughed.
The video then moved to Harry holding a new foam board, that time containing different formats.
“Is Y/N Y/L/N,” you read, leaning forward a little to peel the sticker from the board, “In a Marvel movie?” You read, looking at the camera, “I was, yeah. Just a few.”
“You were in Marvel for, like, 10 years,” Harry said quietly, looking at you.
“More than a few,” you sheepishly said.
“Like–Like all the way from The Avengers to No Way Home,” he said.
“You’ve done your homework,” you teased him with a giggle.
“I embarrassed myself on the internet for you, I think–I think I know your work well,” Harry laughed quietly.
“Aw stop it,” you sheepishly leaned onto him.
With a bling sound effect, Harry smiled at the camera.
“Is Y/N Y/L/N alive?” Harry read for you, “I mean–I think,” he looked at you, “I hope so.”
“Has anyone felt alive since 2019?” You asked with furrowed eyebrows, “I don’t know. I don’t know, beats me.”
“A lot to unpack here,” he joked.
“Next therapy session,” you laughed along with him, “Hey doc, when was the last time you felt alive?”
“2019? Same here,” Harry went along.
“How did Y/N Y/L/N and Harry Styles meet?” You read before letting an excited smile take over your face.
“The Graham Norton show,” Harry answered for you.
You nodded, “The Graham Norton show,” you repeated, “It was when I knew about this guy’s teenage crush,” you teased him, watching his cheeks grow a shade pinker.
“Alright, anyway, moving on.”
“What was that one tweet you tweeted back then?” You put your hand on his arm, “You tweeted me something.”
“Can’t remember,” with a shy, stifled smile, Harry replied quietly.
“Yes, you can!” You laughed, “Harry, come on, be a good sport.”
“I can’t remember. This is–This fake news. Rumors.”
“Something about eggs, wasn’t it?” And by the tiny groan he let out, you knew it was right, “It was,” you nodded, “You asked me how I liked my eggs in the morning.”
“She likes them scrambled,” Harry mumbled with a shy smile, “Next question!”
“How did Y/N Y/L/N get famous?” You read, “Um, I auditioned for so many things when I was younger and I remember my mom got a call one day, that was in 2005 I think, and they told her I got the role as Lulu Plummer in The Pacifier,” you said, “I think–I think I never really stopped auditioning for more projects after that then I got the role as Agent Keanna Cross in The Avengers and–I don’t know, it fell into place a little.”
“I loved you as Keanna,” Harry said, “And every character you’ve played, really.”
“That’s–That’s really sweet,” you smiled at him, “Thank you.”
“You’re welcome,” with a smile that mirrored yours, Harry replied.
Finally, you had another board in your hands for Harry, reading the questions for him.
“What does Harry Styles smell like?” You read.
“What do I smell like?” Harry asked you, turning his head slightly and bringing his shoulder closer to his nose so he could sniff himself, “Smells like the lavender detergent we got,” he chuckled.
“Smells good, doesn’t it?” You asked him, watching as he nodded, “You smell like–I don’t know really, I think–I think you have a very unique smell. It’s not artificial, you know?”
Crossing one leg over the other, Harry intertwined his hands together on his knee, “Do explain.”
“Like I can’t say you smell like this or that perfume,” you began, “You have this distinct smell of a lot of things. Like you smell like that Tom Ford perfume you like, mixed with vanilla scented candle, and–and that cake I like to make sometimes. And I think–Oh, also, like jasmines. Those jasmines we have in the balcony,” you grinned.
Harry was blushing; lips spread in a smile, bunny teeth on full display with the dimple on his cheek as he listened to you describe his smell. He leaned onto you, moving his arm behind you to squeeze your hip, “Thank you,” he said, looking at you, “That was–That was a nice description.”
“Was it?” You smiled at him, only beaming when he hummed.
“What movie is Harry Styles and Y/N Y/L/N in?” You read.
“We’re in a movie called About Time,” Harry answered, “That will be out next month, on October 7th.”
“Mark your calendars,” you smiled.
“Mark your calendars,” Harry repeated, pointing at the camera.
“What is Harry Styles,” you peeled the sticker off, “Song Cinema about?”
Harry chuckled before sucking in a breath, putting one hand on his hip and the other on his thigh, “Umm,” he began, “It’s about cinema.”
“You’re such a poet,” you teased him.
“Right?” Harry laughed, “What is Cinema about then? It’s, um, it’s about whatever you want.”
“Like cinema,” you joked, “It can be about cinema, going to the movies.”
Harry nodded, playing along, “Getting popcorn.”
“Movie tickets, crushed popcorn, uncomfortable seats if you want,” you added, knowing that the song, in a nutshell, was about you.
“And that’s Cinema,” he said.
“What is Harry Styles famous for?”
To everyone’s surprise, especially the fans, Harry answered right away.
“I think for being your boyfriend, really.”
Your eyes widened, looking at the camera as you laughed.
The video then cut to both of you again, that time with neither of you holding any boards.
“I think we did well,” you said, nodding to yourself before looking at Harry.
“Yeh,” he nodded, “I think we did well, too. I think–I think my answers were better than yours.”
“Oh, oh,” your eyes widened, Harry laughing as he wrapped both arms around you. You looked at the camera, “Were you?” You mimicked him.
With the former upbeat music then playing, the screen changed to black, with Wired’s black and white logo in the middle, ending your video.

Note
because it’s gonna be 12 months from the start of this fandom (kinda mostly here anyway), would you like to give me a fav moment from every month so far (can be fandom related, can be only jo related)? if that’s something you’re in the mood rn 🩷
absolutely 🤩
welcome to the ✨Joker Out Chronicles (May 2023 - March 2024)✨ as viewed by user leopardom
this is gonna be a list of fav moments from every month so far and since i couldn't choose, it's gonna be both band related and fandom related
this is gonna be long so more under the cut
May 2023
band: the whole eurovision journey from befriending all the contestants to Bojan's date and eventual engagement with Käärijä to the band giving condoms to everyone and their mom to the rehearsals to the iconic turqoise carpet to the Käärijä sauna to the voting promo to the qualification to the finals to Bojan licking the camera and to Joker Out becoming pretty much esc legends despite finishing 21st in the final. the beginning of everything, absolutely chaotic but i wouldn't imagine it any other way
fandom: the formation this sounds cliche yes but i was here since April 2023 and it was... very silent. the non-esc related jo stuff were limited and people were still discovering them so yeah i was sitting here hoping that after esc people would stick around so we can scream together about the band as a band and not only as esc contestants. and thankfully people did that and here we are now 🥹
June 2023
band: first international gigs the gigs in Dublin are one thing but then came the announcements of the Nordic tour, the Warsaw gigs, the headline gigs in Novi Sad and Zagreb... honourable mention to Stožice going sold out
fandom: Tavastia 1.0 there's absolutely no way i will even forget how the jo, ka and esc fandoms had a collective meltdown when Bojan casually showed up in Helsinki and then joined Käärijä on stage on both his Tavastia gigs (mind you both as a singer and as a dancer lmao). no wonder why this moment still has a chokehold on all of us. 9th of June 2023, you will always be famous
July 2023
band: the appearance of Demoni scream i know that festivals and the first UK run were important and gave us some iconic moments too (like some slay outfits and Jan's sparklative confusion), but the damn Demoni scream is so dear to me it kinda tops it all. it's so good to see how Bojan embraced it after that first time (2/7/23 in Škofja Loka) and now there can't be Demoni without the scream/growl/whatever you wanna call it
fandom: the Jance wedding on stage iirc the Jance brainrot had started spawning before 29/7 but that Saturday night was the cherry on top. so glad we got to experience this live as well since there was a livestream going on that night and we saw Jan putting the veil on Nace himself <3
August 2023
band: the Koper gig i wasn't even there okay but judging from the content and people's comments on it, it was probably one of the most iconic jo gigs. also my favourite jo video in existence is coming from that night (here) side note: i've been to Slovenia once in my life, 11 years ago, and funnily enough we were staying in Koper and i recognised the place they had the concert. anyway, visit Slovenia and Koper, it's a very nice small seaside town and it's worth the visit <3
fandom: the collective screaming about things to be completely honest i don't remember much from that month in terms of fandom, but i kinda remember how most of us had started diving into the band's past more and more and “new” old content was posted almost every day. videos, photos, gifs, interviews, the amazing @jokeroutsubs translating more old content...
September 2023
band: Nordic tour i won't even start talking about this because you'll never hear the end of it. we all know what the Nordic tour was. even the release of SSOL, the first single after esc, can't top this whole thing, sorry
fandom: google drive content and *shocked gasp* Nordic tour another collective meltdown for the fandom. first being bombarder with backstage videos on a damn google drive folder (that ended up being a frequent occurence in the following months) to the whole run of the Nordic tour. do i need to say more? i feel like i can't. only this: Nordic tour, you will always be famous
October 2023
band: Stožice not much to say here either. they sold out a whole arena months prior to the actual concert date. it was their moment. a milestone (probably their biggest to date). and it was amazing to witness this in any possible way, whether it was by attending the concert or watching an ig livestream or keeping track of the photos and videos of that night
fandom: Stožice and Halloween outfits the chokehold both the Stožice and the Halloween (aka pilots and flight attendands) outfits had on the whole fandom... also love how we collectively agreed that Kris' Stožice outfit was his version of Princess Diana's revenge dress and how the Halloween outfits sent the fandom into a spiral in means of creations (fanart, fanfics etc)
November 2023
band: the whole touring well they did have a number of gigs during November and they seemed to be having so much fun 🥰 so much that at the end of November they announced their first proper european tour
fandom: collective screaming about things once again i mean all the gigs were feeding us well. the outfits alternating or not, Jance/Bokris moments, Bonace getting more spotlight (Bojan was and still is going through something during Demoni and Ona like wtf was he doing to Nace was it the serbian lyrics waking up something wild in him 😭😭😭). there was a lot going on back in November… honourable mentions: this Bokris moment, cvjetits (x x) and Kris riding Jure
December 2023
band: the whole Munich experience there's a good chance jo don't remember their whole stay in Munich for the first time as one of the best ones ever, especially if they think about the 1,5k euro taxi they paid as part of making it to The Hague in time for the next gig. but if anything, i feel like this captures their whole vibe as a band; ✨purely chaotic✨
fandom: european tour vlog and Bojan with the bi flag we waited for a long time for a Nordic tour vlog. maybe we didn't get it as an individual video but even as part of the whole tour vlog it was great and definitely worth the wait. also it was a great xmas gift let's be real 😌 now Bojan with the bi flag was probably not a very huge fandom moment and my bi ass may be biased here (this rhymed lol), but seeing him wrap himself with the bi flag followed by that speech before Barve Oceana in Barcelona will always be such a precious moment to me and i'll cherish it forever 💖 note: when i saw them last month in Munich i immediately started crying when i heard the first notes of Barve Oceana live; not only because i love the song and i finally heard it live, but also because i instantly thought of that moment of Bojan with the bi flag and the speech)
January 2024
band: Joker Out cooking livestreams London era my beloved (i never thought i'd say this about a city in the UK out of all places). their whole stay in London was an Experience both for the band and the fandom but well they got their chance to show the world they can cook besides playing music and they did. now let's not get into the kind of cooking they did, but the livestreams were very entertaining and bless them for doing them 😅
fandom: death by Damon Baker's photos yeah no i don't think i need to say more here, i'm still not over those photoshoots and i still can't quite believe they actually happened. like?????????? jo???? photographed individually or not by Damon fucking Baker???? ugh 😫 on that note i want to add that i loved and still love how those photos sparked the creativity in this fandom. from analyses of each photo to fanfics to fanart to creating anything in general. one of my favourite moments of the fandom <3
February 2024
band: release of Everybody's Waiting the whole road to the release of this single was Something with the band continuing the usual shenanigans and with Damon still releasing unseen photos of them. the release of it may have gotten us divided because of its language or the path they chose to take music-wise (it's not everyone's cup of tea and that's more than fine), but personally i like this for them. it's different, it showed a different side of them which they wanted to explored; they got a chances to do it and they did it. and you know what? it's so good live
fandom: death by Damon Baker's photos, Jure edition this could be merged with my fave fandom moment of January 2024 but this one is special because we just saw another Jure like WTF WAS THAT 😭 anyway i loved how we all kind of lost it when his photos dropped note: the moment Damon posted Jure's photos i was on my way to meet my friends in Dresden of all places and i was so shocked by what i saw i almost ran into a lighting column on the street 💀💀💀
March 2024
band: Jan and Bojan playing the piano at every gig of the tour i could've said the whole tour is my favourite thing from this March and it's not like it's not, this is a big moment for the band. it's just that once again i'm a bit biased here. many people, my pianist ass included, wished there would be a piano or some keyboard on stage during the tour because come on if Jan plays the keys for Everybody's Waiting studio version then why not do it live too? and you know what's better? not only there was a piano on stage for the whole tour, but not only Jan but also Bojan played it. however, Bojan playing it for Everybody's Waiting and Jan playing it for Padam, Metulji and the cases where they had special guests (like in Estonia with Alika, Lithuania with Monika and Belgium with Gustaph)... those were not on my bingo card and they were the most pleasant surprise ever 😌
fandom: meeting each other at the gigs when the tour started and even though i knew i would go to at least two gigs, i was extremely nervous because this meant i'd probably come across other fans from here and social media in general. as a person with anxiety, one of my worries was how i'd be perceived and how i'd manage to not come across as a snob person because i'm shy and scared to talk to people i don't know. as the tour went on and i saw people meeting each other irl after only knowing each other via tumblr/twitter/instagram, i got more nervous but also had a warm feeling in my chest because seeing people meet, bond over things they like and have fun at gigs together is actually very wholesome 🫶 i hoped i would get to experience this too at the italian gigs but i was still nervous. and then, around the middle of March, i made the spontaneous decision to do the Munich gig too, but instead of getting even more nervous i just got myself on autopilot. and i'm glad i did because if i hadn't i wouldn't have met some of you neither in Munich nor in Milan or Padua. i wouldn't get to trade stuff and joke about things and talk about fandom stuff or even about fanfics lmao 😂 anyway, point is that i most probably was worried about nothing. i got to meet so many people at the gigs and i had so much fun despite the inconveniences that may had showed up in the way (i don't wanna talk about it tbh) and everyone was so welcome and lovely i'll never shut up about it 😭 also i’m taking this opportunity to say that if we attended the same gigs but didn't get to meet, i'm so sorry about it really but we will do it at some point i'm telling you! and i also wish i get to meet more of you from in here so we can yap about things outside of tumblr too. btw i still have stickers to give away and i will make more whenever the time comes again <3

My March Books
Hi! Everyone these are the books I have read this month, there are 8 of them. As you can see most of them are romances short stories, and a mystery. As always I have the Goodreads links for you to check out:
Snowed Inn (Freedom Valley#6) (Erin Branscom): The last installment of this series had glimpses of our couples from the previous books and introduced us to a new one with great chemistry and a love for food. Holly was funny, spunky, and a great cook and Beau was the perfect example of a grumpy exterior and soft interior protagonist with a painful past. I also loved the side characters of Hank, Beau’s brother, and Ophelia, Holly’s best friend, and their respective romance. I want a short story of their relationship after this book so that I can return to Freedom Valey. I liked that this book was in the winter and the Golden Gable Inn and the scenes with Sasha, the cook, and the igloos in the yard. I recommend all the series. You can only read this one but the whole series is amazing.
Lemon Meringue Pie Murder (Hannah Swenson #4) (Joanne Fluke): I like this series of cozy mysteries as I love Hannah Swenson and her family in Lake. I like the recipes the author gives every five chapters or so. I like that the mysteries are easy and if you think a little you can help Hannah solve them. I loved in all of them to see how Hannah’s relationships with her neighbors are faring, especially those with Mike and Norman. I loved her little sister Michelle whom we were introduced to in this one. Overall, it was a delightful book to read.
The Undercover Santa (Spying on Love #1) (Jo Davies): That was a fun short story with a double point of view and a fun open ending. I read both in the same morning on my commute to work, so it was a great and fun start for me.
The Undisclosed Panda (Spying on Love #2) (Jo Davies): The second part of the previous story with a happy ending and unexpected twists, but not too many for a six-chapter short story, to the story's mystery. It was a great detour of the tea district in Shanghai too, as the two go there to solve the mystery and have their first date.
Pardon My French Press (Coffee Loft #2) (J. P. Sterling): The second short story of the Coffee Loft series was based in New York City, which I loved as it was a good development of the characters and the shop itself. I liked the personalities of the two protagonists, Portia and Christian, who have a sense of humor with lots of sarcasm. I loved the relationships of the two protagonists with their families and neighbors. It is a classic enemies-to-friends-to-lovers romance in a coffee shop in New York something that made it special to me as one of my films, You’ve Got a Mail. I will recommend it to someone who is searching for something small to it.
A Pinch of Salt (Lucy Marin): This retelling of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice set in a Canadian cooking show was pretty good and has the preceptive of many of the characters, especially those who participate in the competition. I loved that the author did not include the affair between Lydia and Wickham but had their characters as close to them as she could in these circumstances.  It also has the main themes and the personalities of the characters are the same as the original. It was really with good description of the food and the emotions of the two protagonists. It was a good modern retelling of a classic.
The Sitcom Star (Chu’s Restaurant #1) (Jackie Lau): This was a cute novella with two former classmates who reacquainted and started to spend time together. The difference in the novella is that the female protagonist is a famous star of an Asian- American sitcom which she produces and writes the script. I loved the fun and cute moments the protagonists had with each other, their friends, and their families too.
The Reluctant Heartthrob (Chu’s Restaurant #2) (Jackie Lau): This cute novella and second story of this series surrounds the male protagonist of the series who is a grumpy Shakespeare-loving actor. The female protagonist is a data scientist who might have autism but she hasn’t had a formal review, so she doesn’t know for sure. I loved the representation in this one and the relationship between them as I love the grumpy/ sunshine type of books.

Book Description:
A retelling of the classic coming-of-age story Little Women through the intimate lens of Jo March.
It’s 1862 and fifteen-year-old Jo March would rather be fighting in the war, like her papa, than improving her knitting skills on the home front. But societal conventions for the “gentle” woman—and her steadfast adoration for her three sisters—force Jo to stay behind and support the family, all the while rolling her eyes at Aunt March and daydreaming of becoming a famous author.
At home, love abounds in the March girls’ lives in the form of family, friendship, patriotism, religion, and—to Jo’s chagrin—romance. As each sister navigates their ascent into adulthood, Jo unwittingly ventures down a path of self-realization, using her gift of written prose to craft her voice, and thus, her truth. Perhaps, just maybe, she can strike balance between the freedom of independence and the warmth of partnership…
In this visionary adaptation, Little Writer tells the March sisters’ timeless journey to womanhood with a multiracial cast of characters, reimagining history to include diverse communities without elaboration.
Amazon      BN
Excerpt:
The theater is such a grand building, with gilded designs and carvings decorating everywhere my gaze lands. I haven’t even seen the play yet and I’m impressed. I wish I could run my fingers over the golden carvings. I can dig up stories hidden in the curves and grooves.
“I knew you’d like it,” Laurie mutters.
I turn toward him, his black eyes glimmering as he looks at me. A blush runs up my neck. My arm tightens around his and I press my cheek to his shoulder for a moment. With a big family like mine, I’ve never been able to be me and only me. I’ve always been Josephine March—sister of Amy, Meg, and Beth. Never Jo March, writer of phenomenal stories. The love and affection
I’ve received have been a dished-out serving, for my sisters need some, too. It’s all the same, tailored ever so slightly for each of us.
But being friends with Teddy… it’s the first time someone is thinking of me—and only me.
The theater invitation is almost enough for me to feel every bit of my individual self—but I cannot shake the guilt. Amy wanted to come so badly and I was so harsh. I was trying to teach her manners, for it is improper to invite yourself places. But in turn, I forgot my own. It’s easy to lose the little amount of hold I have on my temper when it comes to my sisters.
Despite the sparkling elves and princes and princesses, I can’t enjoy the play the way I want to. Also because Laurie’s rowdy friends are often hushed by other guests.
Amy and I argue the most out of our family. I think it’s because we’re both the most passionate. Her with her art and propriety. Me with my writing and books. I try with such strength to tame my temper; I fail most of the time. When anger flares in my chest, I must get it out lest it burns me alive. In turn, it burns other people. People I care about—like Amy.
Oh, Amy. In the middle of the play, it takes everything I have not to run home and apologize.
“Teddy,” I say once the play is over and we walk into the lobby. “I don’t have any money with me. I was wickedly cruel to Amy before the play and I feel terrible. I want to buy her chocolate from the concession stand. I’ll pay you back the moment we return.”
With a gentle smile, Laurie pats my hand and walks toward the concession stand. Meg places a hand on my shoulder.
“I’m proud of you,” says Meg.
“I was trying to teach her,” I say.
She nods. “I know.”
Off to the side, one of Laurie’s friends—Ned, I believe—makes obscene gestures and poses with a statue. An employee reprimands him and Meg and I turn away, lest we be seen as part of his group.
“Must his friends be so abominable?” Meg asks, earning a snort from me.

Amy and Laurie’s pet names
😏 Can we just appreciate Amy and Laurie’s pet names for each other??? I love them. They’re so loving, playful and flirty!
Be ready for an unexpectedly long post.
My Lord and my Lady
Only a couple like Amy and Laurie would call each other this way. Amy is sometimes called “my lady” or “her ladyship” by her sisters but they usually do it to poke her. It’s fine, that’s what sisters are for but I just love that Laurie keeps calling her like that as an endearment. It means he accepts that part of her identity... because he also shares it.
For a while, I have said that Laurie is Amy’s knight in shiny armor. It doesn’t mean she is a damsel in distress but think about it. Whenever Amy needs someone, Laurie is there. She falls into the ice, Laurie rescues her; she’s lonely at Aunt March’s house, he visits her every day; she gets the flower table, he supplies the flowers and brings his friends to buy; she’s worried about her family, he promises to go and console her if anything happens, and he does! Laurie is there whenever she needs him. And he does it happily. I think he likes to be needed, he likes to be the one at the rescue.
These two live in a medieval fantasy. Laurie calls her daughter “little princess” and his horse is named “prince Charlie”! So, you have the Lady and the Lord of the castle, the princess and the horse. 🥰 Perfect. Honestly, I have a headcanon that Bess helped him name it, but Laurie could have done it by himself. In any case, it’s so on-character.
I think or I want to believe something like this is where Timothee was going when he was asked about why Amy and Laurie are a great couple. But it is wrong because the movie only has Amy calling him My Lord.
Madame Récamier & Impertinence
That’s about it, isn’t it, Madame Récamier?’ asked Laurie with a quizzical look at Amy. ‘Time will show. Come away, Impertinence, and don’t shock my family by calling me names before their faces,’
Madame Récamier was a very famous lady during the revolutionary times in France. She was a rich lady who became quite famous for hosting reunions in her salon. Her circle included intellectuals, politicians, artists, la crème de la crème de Paris. So that’s what Laurie was referring to. Previously he was talking about how they plan to good society at their house.
But there’s something else 😏 .
So, back in the 19th century couples wouldn’t be as affectionate towards each other in public. Not even the married ones. They will always be very prudent. And a proper lady like Amy would follow the rules of society regarding this. She’s a true gentlewoman, a wife and a member of Concord’s high society now. Even more, Madame Récamier was a beautiful woman trapped in a very unsatisfying marriage and most probably had multiple affairs. Most importantly for this discussion, she posed for David and Francoise Gérard in very seductive positions and clothes! And I think this is why she calls him Impertinence.
I mean, if this is how Laurie thinks of Amy... 😏 People don’t need to know this, least of all her family, her father! 😆
Tumblr media
Mrs. Curtis
This one appears in Chapter Uncle Teddy from Little Men. It’s actually the second time it appears, I think, the first one being when Marmee was in Washington taking care of her husband. Since LW, Amy is the only one who uses her middle name, though the other sisters must have one too. I wonder why Louisa only pointed out hers. Maybe it was to show how grown up and formal Amy wanted to appear when she signed “Amy Curtis March!, even though her letter is full of mistakes.
I think it’s hilarious that Laurie uses it. I mean, no one calls her like that. But it makes me happy that he does cause Amy and Laurie are a very presentable, fashionable, prestigious couple, but it’s nice to think that they also have fun in their private time. I love them.
Raphaella
Technically everyone calls her like that, but it’s still nice 😊 cause Laurie uses it at a moment where Amy had given up her artistic dreams and planned to marry Fred. So calling her Raphaella, brought her back home and reminded her of an Amy who dreamed to be the best painter in the world and who knew better than to marry just for money. Valrosa is such a amazing part of their arc and love story.
Raphael was famous for his Virgin’s and Child which is a figure that is very important for her. In Jo’s Boys, Emil gifts her a locket of that very theme since it reminds him of when Bess was a baby 🥰.
And it also talks about the art that Amy liked. Amy admired Raphael and Michelangelo, THE Old Masters from the Renaissance. They set the bar for the next centuries. However by the mid-1800s people were starting to rebel. I would love to know what Amy thought of the Pre-Raphaelites! When Amy was in Paris, she must have seen Impressionist works, still unpopular but they were growing on art students. That’s something 2019 movie did sort of ok. Amy is someone who grew up watching the masterworks according to traditional standards and that’s the kind of art she wants to do.

Unexpected Facts About Victorian Era Girls, Part 4
Specifically American girls of the middle and upper classes as detailed in Jane H. Hunter’s How Young Ladies Became Girls: The Victorian Origins of American Girlhood, a book I highly recommend even if you have no interest in history. It does a great job giving a lot of cultural context to the buildup to the ‘New Woman’ of the 1880s and 1890s and the newfound independence, education, and confidence experienced by many American women in the years before suffrage was granted.
It is inaccurate to claim (as is often portrayed in period dramas) that Victorians hated the idea of tomboys and censored and punished girls who wanted to lead rambunctious childhoods. In fact there was a sentimental sort of fondness for the notion of the whimsical young tomboy who spent her childhood climbing trees, rowing boats, riding horses, and running around the farmstead, with the understanding that as the girl aged into adolescence she would gradually abstain from these activities, until finally at about 17 or 18 becoming a ‘young lady’ who had left her tomboy days behind.
While some parents and advice columnists did insist that childhood play should end at 12 and girls should begin training as wives and mothers, most families were far more reluctant to end girl’s childhoods, particularly the upper classes, whose daughters had an exceptional amount of leisure time. For example, it was not unusual for girls even as old as 18 or 19 to still be considered ‘little girls’ and to be writing into children’s magazines such as the famous St Nicholas’ Magazine.
In this sense, Louisa May Alcott’s renowned Little Women was in fact pushing back against the popular trend of letting girls remain children for as long as possible, via insisting present day teenage girls were far too idle and careless, and could do with regular chores and responsibilities for running the household. However, even her book offered no harsh criticism for the ‘tomboy ways’ of characters such as Jo March, focusing instead on the ‘flaws’ of Jo’s temper and stubborn pride, as opposed to her boyish mannerisms and disregard for fashion or ladylike manners.
A major debate was over when girls should begin wearing the long dresses that symbolized womanhood. Young girls were expected to wear knee length dresses, young tweens and teens to wear perhaps calf length. A full skirt was not generally worn until adulthood. However, some argued that girls should begin wearing longer skirts earlier if they were ‘early bloomers’ and their legs might invite ‘unwelcome attention’.
Hair was also a debate; only grown women wore their hair up as a daily habit. Young girls were expected to have their hair down and perhaps restrained with ribbons, unless they were of the working class and needed it out for their face for manual labor. A girl of twelve or thirteen wearing her hair would be seen as somewhat scandalous and absurd. Most girls would begin wearing their hair up for special occasions such as balls or parties in their later teens, and gradually shift to always having it up.
Corsets, too, were generally not worn by most girls until their late teens. Even on a fifteen year old girl, a corset might invite some scandal and shock. The same went for bustles. They were considered markers of adult womanhood and it would be inappropriate to dress a child in that manner.
With the adult dress came the end of even the most wild tomboy’s childhood. Bustles and long skirts and corsets did not completely hinder all physical exercise, and certainly women still rode horses, walked for hours on end, and played tennis and badminton in them. But they were not appropriate for climbing trees, riding astride rather than side saddle, sledding, or running through the woods. Mothers and fathers might fondly recall their daughters’ active youths and good health from hours outdoors, but for a grown woman to still behave in that manner was not proper.
By and large walking was the exercise of choice for Victorian woman. While many period dramas and works of historical fiction present Victorian girls as rarely leaving the parlor, dining room, or their bedchambers, girls were encouraged to exercise vigorously by walking around town or the countryside, unless they were ill. These walks were no casual strolls by often hours-long events. They were also often not heavily chaperoned, even among upper class girls. An insistence on public chivalry and strict class boundaries (as well as very separate neighborhoods) was expected to keep young women safe while walking outside during the day.
Walking was suggested for at least two hours a day, even up to six miles a day. It was considered essential for health, physical beauty, and for preventing ‘self abuse’ aka masturbation. The idea was that active girls (and boys) would be less tempted and have less energy to ‘explore themselves’ in private if they spent all day exercising.
Walking was also a normal part of most school days. Even among the upper classes, most children walked to school as opposed to riding in a carriage. Carriage rides were for formal events, such as attending the theater or going to a ball. Girls were eager for the time alone with friends on the way to and from school. Walking partners were common and it was rare to see children walking alone to class.
Parents were sometimes concerned about the possibility of boys and girls walking alone through towns or cities together, which was very common. At the same time, so long as these boys belonged to the same upper middle class, they were generally considered ‘safe’ for girls to be alone with. It was common to assign boys as chaperones to walk girls home from parties, even very late at night.
While this obviously allowed for flirting and ‘detours’ leading to hand holding or even kisses on the way home, some girls were not pleased with their assigned partners, or complained of boys using it as an excuse to harass or bother them. Some boys waited outside church or school for the object of their affections to depart, hoping to get the chance to walk her home in relative privacy.
In general, American girls were observed to have much more personal freedom than their European counterparts during the Victorian era. At the same time, there was a fear about the GOP (Girl of the Period)- the loud, rude, and overly beautified girl who dressed extravagantly, wore makeup, only cared about money and parties, and was too flirtatious and outspoken with boys.
Both American and English commentators worried about the decline of old-fashioned morals and an increasingly rebellious youth who spent more time out on the town with friends than at home. The urban girl who ‘knew too much’ and acted frivolously with her money was contrasted with the sober and hardworking country lass.

So here we are, prepping for an epic photo shoot next week for a very special publication where Veronica Varlow and I will be re-creating massively famous artworks from an era/movement very close to my heart, and where the women look simultaneously fabulous and also like they are thoroughly spaced out and care about absolutely nothing. ☕️ It will take practice—here I still quite clearly care about at least a couple of small things. Like digestive biscuits perhaps and the price of marmalade. But that’s not the point! ☕️ The point is, my eyebrows!! Look! I’ve painted them a light red (they’re naturally almost black, as you know) in an attempt to persuade myself not to bleach them (the art demands matching hair/brows). So, the question is, can I pull this off? If I bleach, will I regret it forever? I’ve heard that I will regret it forever, but I need the truth, for heaven’s sake! . Plague Rats 🐀, if you’ve ever bleached/dyed your precious brows, please do tell me all about it before it’s too late!!! . ~W14A🥄 . P.S. Before you ask what’s wrong with my hair, don’t worry, this is just what it actually looks like 20 minutes out of the shower—I have not been mauled by an amorous raccoon. 🦝

✨ Thank you ever so much, Plague Rats, for helping me decide upon my eyebrows for the epic magazine shoot this week!!! (The question, if you’ve just arrived, was bleach and dye or simply conceal and shade as I’ve done here, as they had to match my hair color.) 🐀 Every single bit of all of your advice/opinions/suggestions was incredibly helpful, and, in the end, 7:30 AM last Tuesday found me doing just as I did above (the concealing trick), and I think they went over smashingly!! 🐀 I’m not allowed to say anything more about the shoot yet, except that I modeled with my lady husband Veronica Varlow like you’ve NEVER seen us before, in a location that must be seen to be believed, and also that it was a childhood dream come true. I can’t wait to share more, and thank you all again for your love and encouragement, always!!! . ~W14A🥄 . P.S. oh no!! I just found that I left my #asylumemporium rose gold Inmate bracelet at the shooting location!! It was the first time I’d taken it off in at least 3 months and I feel very naked now... . #plagueratsrule #preraphaelite

Plague Rats!! I am incredibly honored to be on the cover of the Spring Issue of what I like to call “Vogue for Witches,” #EnchantedLivingMagazine Faerie Magazine!!The best part is what is behind this cover however: a massive photo spread featuring myself AND Veronica Varlow, channeling Victorian supermodels and frenemies Lizzie Siddal and Jane Morris respectively, recreating several of the most famous paintings of the Pre-Raphealite era!!This experience was an absolute dream, and there will be much more info to come, but I do want to thank Carolyn Turgeon and #FaerieMagazine for the faith you put in Veevers and I in representing these artworks, as well as @steve.parke for capturing the essence of an artistic age that I have always had an obsession for (see my “The Art of Suicide” and “Shallot” for proof;). And Veevers, we both know Jane & Lizzie were secretly into each other.~W14A🥄 aka Lizzie . #preraphaelite *** @faeriemagazine wrote:We're super excited to be wrapping up our Pre-Raphaelite-themed spring issue in the next couple of weeks and are even more excited to finally share this wondrous cover, featuring Emilie Autumn, with you! ✨ Click the link in our bio to subscribe! ✨ Or pre-order the issue at https://enchantedlivingmag.com/.../enchanted-living-issue... ✨ This image from @steve.parke shot last summer at the @cloisterscastle in Baltimore, Maryland. All hair and makeup was done by @hairbynikki_v of Baltimore's @nvsaloncollective, Emilie's dress is from Bullseye Clothiers, and the ultra-tempting box was designed by @metalartistsue.~ .

Top 5 Wednesday: Bookworm Characters
Anne Shirley from Anne of Green Gables
Anne seems to like horror and adventure stories, which is surprising at first for a girl who likes to imagine such beautiful things until you remember the Haunted Wood incident (and that there wasn’t much non-kiddie fantasy in the 1890s).
Jo March from Little Women
Jo is very famous for liking books to the point where there are articles about the books they read, like this one. My favorite memory of her liking books however is when she made with her sisters a club after a club in a book they read. (Also, she tends to like Shakespeare, which is unsurprising with her dramatic tendencies.)
Klaus Baudelaire from A Series of Unfortunate Events
Klaus is unusual in that he reads mainly non-fiction. I always have wondered how much fiction he would read in an ideal world, where he wasn’t being hunted down for his fortune. I love his facts, though.
Sarah from All-of-a-Kind Family
I can’t remember what books Sarah likes (though I remember her sister liking the Anne of Green Gables series), but I imagine her liking fairy tales and realistic fiction.
Talia from Arrows of the Queen
Talia is another reader of mainly non-fiction, though that seems to be because in her world fiction is saved for songs. She definitely would enjoy a fiction adventure book, though, if she ever happened to come across one, seeing that the three books she first loved were historical adventures and that’s what she continues to read when she first comes to a library.

Michael Sheen: The pandemic has shown what is possible on homelessness
The actor now uses his Hollywood cash to fund his passion for activism. Sheen reveals why he revels in spending money on the things that matter and why he has hope for the post-Covid future.
Michael Sheen, activist and actor. It is in that order these days. And he’s doing rather well in both spheres. He has spent the last few years trying to find a way to balance his twin passions. And, he says, he is slowly getting there.
“A big part of it was shifting things in my head and knowing what the priorities were,” says the 51-year-old.
“I made the shift psychologically to go, right, the acting work and everything that comes with that is going to support the other stuff I’m doing.
“So even though to the outside world, maybe it wouldn’t seem like it – because I’ve been doing lots of acting work and things that have kept the profile up and all that –  from my point of view, the priority has been different. Now the acting work fits in around the other stuff.”
That ‘other stuff’ involves supporting the Homeless World Cup and the fight to expand access to affordable credit, campaigning to get the right to a good home enshrined in law in Wales and combating loneliness with the Great Winter Get Together (an idea inspired by the late MP Jo Cox). Then there’s working with Social Enterprise UK, for whom he is a patron alongside The Big Issue’s Lord Bird, helping local journalism and communities get access to trustworthy information, publicising and supporting both foodbanks and theatres and fighting period poverty.
It’s a heady and righteous cocktail of vital causes. And it takes up a lot of Sheen’s time. With the Covid pandemic of 2020, and Brexit around the corner, he feels his activism is going to be more important than ever in 2021.
“Everything that was happening before Covid came along which has been exacerbated,” says Sheen. “So it’s not like issues I was focused on beforehand – around homelessness and high-cost credit – are going away.
“We’re bracing ourselves for it getting a lot harder and more people being involved. The work that was going on pre–pandemic is going to get even more pressured. Because when you look into anything around poverty and inequality before the pandemic, the fallout from the way Universal Credit was being rolled out was having a massive effect. Well, there’s going to be a lot more people on Universal Credit now.”
But Sheen also sees this as a moment to seize, a chance to rebuild society anew, a period that is packed with potential.
“We saw what was possible around homelessness during the pandemic, where people were able to get off the streets and were put into accommodation and given support that wasn’t there before,” he says.
“That has made a lot of people think. If that’s possible during a pandemic when people are really motivated, then why can’t it happen afterwards as well? Why does it take a pandemic to do it? We have seen that the fact there are still people living on the street is a political choice.
“So while we are bracing ourselves for really challenging times, that’s balanced out by a sense that there’s the chance to build up from the ground again. How do we reimagine who we are and how we live and how we work together? The status quo wasn’t working. So we have to innovate, we have to reimagine, we have to reinvent – there is a moment of possibility to build back better.”
He is on a roll. He sounds like a politician. A good politician. With that rich, sonorous voice rising as he advocates a new way of living, a new vision for society. He compares the imminent, we hope, post-Covid moment to the situation facing the post-war Attlee government.
“When you go through a big, nation–changing event, which this has been, there’s the opportunity to reimagine a different relationship between the state and society and between us as a community,” he continues. “To see how communities have pulled together gives you a new awareness of who we are and what we can be. We can rebuild our nation in the light of that.
“There won’t always be that window of opportunity. We’ll go in a new direction and a new status quo will emerge. Let’s hope it can be a fairer one.”
But Sheen is not just about ideas for a brighter future for Wales, the UK, and beyond. He’s also at the top of the acting profession. And we’ve seen a lot of him in 2020.
There was his brilliant, uncanny, portrayal of Chris Tarrant in Quiz back in March – the memorable pop-cultural drama-doc which drew a massive lockdown audience to its exploration of the infamous, scandalous, did-they-didn’t-they ‘cheat’ storm on ITV’s Who Wants To Be A Millionaire – shedding light on the inventive, pre-internet ways WWTBAM fans across the country hooked up to game their way onto the show.
Sheen was – not for the first time in a career that has seen him portray with such skill a diverse crowd of famous names, including Brian Clough (The Damned United), Kenneth Williams (Fantabulosa), Tony Blair (The Deal, The Queen and The Special Relationship), and David Frost (in Frost/Nixon) – utterly, bewilderingly believable as Tarrant and the three-part series, aired over consecutive nights, was genuine event television.
Then, when it became clear this pandemic and these lockdowns weren’t going anywhere fast, Sheen joined forces with his Good Omens co-star David Tennant to make Staged – the first, and perhaps only show to capture the tedium, the disconnectedness, the discombobulation of lockdown life.
With the big–name actors playing heightened versions of themselves – Sheen pompous, cultured, guzzling wine, Tennant eager to please, upbeat, hapless – it was a roaring success on iPlayer.
“David is very different to what you see in the series in real life,” says Sheen. “But although I’d like to say I’m different to the version of me in Staged, that’s pretty much what I’m like.”
The surprise second series of Staged catches up with Sheen and Tennant (or should that be Tennant and Sheen?) a few months down the line.
“We knew the series was very easy to do, filming it at home on a laptop – or that even if we went back to a more normal life again and were working elsewhere, we could film it anywhere,” says Sheen.
“And by the time we came to the second series, it was different. Even though we were still spending a lot of time at home, the second series was during a period where everybody, including David and I, were trying to go back to do things. Then the rules kept changing.
“So you never quite knew whether what was going to happen from day to day. The second series reflects that. But obviously, going back to work and trying to go back to normal is very different from me and David than they are for a lot of people – so we were aware that had to be dealt with as well, because never wanted it to be about two poncey actors and their lives. We wanted to find a way to do it so that people could still identify with it.”
This year, Sheen, like most of us, has spent more time at home. He has, he says, enjoyed catching fewer planes, appreciated his friends and extended family more than ever, raced through five series of Line of Duty and been wowed by Normal People, starting his way down Schitt’s Creek but still found little time to read novels (“I’ve asked for a few from Father Christmas”).
Because if he does find time to read, it is usually research on housing, on fighting poverty, on rebuilding the broken or the out-of-control housing market, alongside the occasional script.
But if 2020 has been about anything for Sheen, is has been about spending time with his baby daughter Lyra.
“When we went into that first lockdown in March, she was only five months old,” he says.
“So our focus has been her this whole time. Really our experiences wouldn’t have been massively different. The main overwhelming part of our experience of the last year has been having a baby, as opposed to Covid. And I know I’m very fortunate to be able to say that. But anyone who’s had a baby knows that that just takes up all your bandwidth.
“They give you structure, don’t they? A reason to get up in the morning. A lot of people have said it is difficult getting motivated to do stuff – but that’s not an issue when you’ve got a little one, is it? So I have got very used to being in the house. I even got to do two seasons of a TV show from my kitchen, which is pretty nice…”
Staged returns to BBC One and iPlayer on January 4
Michael Sheen on the legacy of the Homeless World Cup in Wales
In the summer of 2019, Cardiff hosted the Homeless World Cup. As the football tournament, featuring players from around the world, all of whom were experiencing homelessness, kicked off, we knew Michael Sheen had played a huge role in bringing the event to Wales.
What didn’t emerge until later was that, when some promised funding failed to emerge, Sheen was faced with a choice between sinking more than £1m of his own money into making it happen or cancelling the event.
He paid. They played.
It was a triumph and will last long in the memory. So how does Sheen feel now about it?
“It is an extraordinary event that happens every year,” he says. “It was going to be in Finland this year, which I was really looking forward to – because Finland has been quite pioneering in the Housing First strategy and I was looking forward to being able to find out more about that. But I still feel the way I did before – and what motivated me to try and make it happen here in Wales is that it is life-changing for people and can be a transformative experience in all kinds of ways.
“For some people who take part in it, it has an immediate effect. And for others, it may be years later that the effects of it manifest in their life. But that was why I was so committed to being a part of making that happen.
“A lot of the motivation for us in Wales was about what it could act as a platform for afterwards. And that has been affected by the Covid crisis, because a lot of the legacy work we were doing was unable to move forward in the way we’d hoped because of all the restrictions. But what I learned and discovered during that period has made a massive difference to me and the work I’m doing around homelessness.
“The relationships we developed through that time with support service organisations, the people I met and the insights I got into what people are struggling with and what would help were invaluable. It’s been a huge thing for me. I’m still paying for it. So that still affects my life as well, obviously, and things that I’m doing.
“But my acting work is there to support the other stuff. I’m putting money into things constantly, even though I still owe money to do with the Homeless World Cup. So until the time comes when I’m not able to earn money in the same way, then I’ll keep on spending it on the things that matter to me.”

survey by roxy-ryan
Do you prefer writing with a black, blue or coloured pen? Doesn’t matter to me. These days I currently carry a pen with purple ink in the rare instance I have to write or sign on something.
Would you prefer to live in the city or the country? City. Going to the province is ideal for a quick getaway, but I’m already far too used to the many choices and quick accessibility in the city that I don’t think I’d last very long in the province when it comes down to it.
If you could learn a new skill, what would that skill be? I wish I knew how to cook and play the piano.
Do you prefer coffee or tea? Coffee. I’ve tried drinking tea a number of times before and giving it a chance, but it’s just never been to my taste.
What was your favourite book growing up? I was hooked to the Septimus Heap series but I never got to finish all seven books because life came in the way and I started getting too busy.
Do you prefer to have a bath or take a shower? Shower. I don’t like taking too long in the bathroom so the shower has always been my more efficient bet.
If you could be a mythical creature, what would you prefer to be? No thanks.
Do you prefer reading a hardcover book or read electronic books? Hardcover.
What is your favourite item of clothing? These days I tend to like shirts that are a couple of sizes larger than my usual one, though I don’t really go for super oversized ones since I’m already a bit on the petite side and the fit would just make me look like I’m being eaten by the shirt lol.
Do you have a favourite brand of clothing? Not really, I keep my choices varied.
Do you like your name? Would you ever change it? It’s grown on me and no, I wouldn’t change it.
Who is a mentor to you? Closest mentor figure would be Bea.
Would you ever want to be famous? If yes, what for? Famous only in the sense that I’m known for my practice, I guess. Like it would be cool to be well-known at least within the local industry. I have no desire to be popular for anything else.
Are you a restless sleeper? I barely move when I sleep, actually. I’ll usually wake up in the same, or nearly the same, position I remember falling alssp in.
Do you suffer from Insomnia or Sleep Apnea? I have neither.
Do you consider yourself a romantic? Yeah, I like pulling out all the stops when I’m in a relationship and the gifts I give are always sentimental in some way.
Is there anyone you wish you were closer to? I have teammates that I’m chummy with but still wish I could be close to, like Gabie (it’s a different Gabie lmao, but the funny thing is they share the exact same initials - even down to her last name - so dealing with her was a bit of a whiplash at first haha but we’re good now!), Coleen, and Bianca.
Do you miss someone at the moment? All my close friends from my college org. Save for Lui, I have not seen any of them since March 2020.
Tell us about an early childhood memory. Sitting at a photo studio to get my first set of 1x1 and 2x2 photos for kindergarten. The room was a little cramped and had blue walls, and I had hair that only went till my ears and I was wearing a green Winnie the Pooh dress.
Tell us about a primary school memory. So my mom and maternal grandfather taught me how to flare my nostrils as a kid and once I could do it perfectly I wouldn’t stop showing it off to everyone who’d give me attention. Eventually my grandpa decided to fuck with me one more time and started telling me he could see my brain from my nostrils, which kid-me obviously fell for and so for many years I believed flaring your nostrils is the magic key to seeing someone’s brain lmfao.
Tell us a memory about a high school memory. Going to the beach for some class trip and getting stung by jellyfish.
Tell us a memory about your late teen years. Pulling an all-nighter with Jo, Aya, Kate, Kezhia, and my ex at a coffee shop and once that place closed down, transferring over to Shakey’s at like 2 AM and ordering a shit-ton of stuff just so they wouldn’t kick us out for overstaying.
Tell us about a memory of your 20's. Honestly struggling what to put here because half of my 20s so far has been gobbled up by the pandemic, but I’ll go with the time that I had a sleepover with my org friends at Laurice’s place. We had multiple heart-to-hearts, had a fun trip to the grocery, cooked, played board games, and drank.
Do you have any crazy or wild plans coming up? I wouldn’t classify it as either but my co-workers and I are planning another trip to Zambales by the end of the month.
What can you see if you look out the nearest window? Nothing, both sets of curtains are blocking the view.
What part of the world are you from? Southeast Asia.
Do you enjoy where you live? I could be somewhere else. But I’m also not in a hurry to leave for now.
Is there another country you would consider living in? Yep, literally so many countries I’d be happy to move into. But also - who knows? We’re seemingly headed to good change and a better direction with this year’s presidential elections; if we magically turn the tides and have the best candidate win, I might actually stay here a little bit longer.
List a couple of your biggest dreams. Go to Wrestlemania and extensively travel the world.

Hey jo!
I did the mbti personality test again! I knew I had to because the last time I did it was years ago way before lockdown and everything! I was probably 14. So the only thing that's different is that I'm more introverted than extroverted now (which is obvious). I'm officially an infp, which tbh seems to fit me more. I still don't know much, but I read the description. I am not sure how I feel, it's surely more relatable and well, realistic! I don't know what to think, but that's me!! (Yes I am making a deal out of this, sorry?)
Anyway I wanted to tell someone, i hope you don't mind your overthinking friend venting here. Love you so so much 💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗
Tumblr media
I so love this gif.
Mais, I am an overthinker and a rambler and an incredibly annoying nerd, why. would. I. mind?????????? INFP I THINK EMMA IS AN INFP OMG @the-girl-who-cried-wolf ?????? This is one of my favourite personality types, there's Todd Anderson, Peter Parker, CHARLIE KELMECKIS, Luna Lovegood, JUST SOME EXCEPTIONALLY AMAZING PEOPLE WHICH MAKES SO MUCH SENSE CUZ YOU'RE AMAZING!!!!!!!!! I'm an INTJ which is ✨A Curse (TM)✨, but I'm working on it!!!!! (I have Greg House, Beth Harmon, Mr. Darcy and Kat Stratford in my corner and I also think Doctor Strange? I think Kaz Brekker too? And that I'm not too thrilled about even tho I haven't met him yet dhsjdjsjdj + some famous people which I'm taking with a grain of salt, such as Nikola Tesla, Jane Austen and Emily Bronte, tho Emily does make sense to me because the way Wuthering Heights is written kinda fits my mindset???? *end geek rant*). You know you can be and are both, right? I always say that, one personality type doesn't have to "fit" you exclusively and this is all for fun (+ it actually helped me with some of my issues because: self awareness!!!!!), so I'd keep the ENFP one too (I mean Jo March is formally an ENFP I think, but I relate to her So Much and see her as an introvert and am probably projecting a little, but she's My Character in mine and everybody else's eyes apparently so who cares! + I have Neil's (ENFJ) energy. See my point? ✨Interpretation✨), then you get something close to the whole picture. My MBTI fits me very well and I don't know what's my second "diagnosis" but it's probably something completely contrasted with my current one, that's how humans function I guess. The only thing that must be the same is probably the Thinking >>>>>> Feeling part.
It's just that I have lots of Todds to bully into confidence now.🧙‍♀️ *evil laugh* YAY! (Yep, Dash (don't even try ok, I NEVER gave up) and Emma, this is about you 🧐, I think Stella also? I remember her mentioning it in the tags?)
And it's more than ok to make a big deal out of things!!!!! I try to ignore emotion and live outside of myself and here I am, with Greg House and Jo March as my fictional counterparts... *sad emoji* I view that as an admirable quality, making a big deal of things, you inspire me! Keep being you whoever that is or might be and just be, exist, write poetry, dance, it's called Keating-it-up! OMG ANNE SHIRLEY CUTHBERT IS AN INFP, MAAAAIS!!!!!!
