"Is he the most famous in US" he's kinda, he's always been. Part of the reasons why jm fans were mad that hybe didn't promote him much in the US cause that's really is like his land. He's always perfomed better than others in US with his solo songs. He actually was the first member to get three solo songs to cross 300k unit sales and then 500k unit sales in the US then followed by jungkook. You can also check debut streams of all his solo songs and those are really impressive. From what i have seen/heard from reactors and how his solo songs has performed in US before this whole "solo era" i would say yes he was the most popular, always been like that. I mean you can just see his popularity when they used to go to US for whatever event and how the crowd usually would know jimin. Jimin and then jungkook has been popular in US but i think jimin was more popular than jungkook, I'm sure solo era and the push or promo whatever one prefers to call it as from the company might have changed some things but yeah despite everything jimin still performs alot better. Wouldn't be surprised if jungkook is now the most popular in US but it was jimin for years. I do think hybe should have pushed/promoted jm more into the states but who know what were jimin's plans so yeah. You know it's better to push the members in their territory or say whatever area they have the most fans in along with other areas of course.
It's honestly mesmerizing that he can still get those many streams in US when LC korean version spent 0 days in any TTH (English version spent a month or something). He's currently the only k-pop artist who's song is charting in US Spotify despite the song being almost a year old. The only promo he did there was a Jimmy Fallon and that's it. He's got a solid fanbase in US, again part of the reason why he can make it to the #1 on hot100 cause i damn well remember how ppl made fun of that one jm account who said let's make jimin's title song to #1 on hot100 and armys were making fun of them saying it's not possible and stop setting up jm. I mean i get that they didn't want other fandoms to drag jm but they kinda went far cause everyone was dragging op in the qts. Armys were like "But you know who can get us that #1 ? Jk x JB" lol. Armys love belittling jimin's success and his fan power. Anyways we made it even when they were laughing. Armys do take credit in it but I'll give the most part of it to pjms cause it was pjms who raised more funds for him than armys, hell armys were even refusing to use his solo fbs money cause they couldn't believe his solo fbs can fund that much money and they were doubting it. Even asked others to not use money from pjm_fund account cause they were a solo fb (without dragging any other members), armys were like use money only from ot7 fund account. But you know what's funny? The same armys flipped 180 degree when it was suga's turn a month later cause suga's solo fbs didn't had that much funds so armys were acting desparate and were asking everyone to use money from both ot7 fund accounts plus his solo accounts. They even made list of suga's solo funding accts lol. They do this alot with jm. They somehow have alot of problems with his solos but not with other members. They collected 10k $ for suga but didn't do same for jm which shows who has bigger hand in jm's#1. All in all America is one of the highest streaming countries for jm. They're always there in top3 or something ( Sorry for the rant 😬)
Even though I'm relatively new to the fandom, I was already having a feeling that jimin is the most popular member in the US. But then Hybe decided to push a different member ( i mean they could have pushed both).
I agree with your entire rant lol. And i also agree that pjms and jimin biased army are the only ones who contribute to Jimin's success in the charts. But you know the good part? Just because a different member is gaining popularity in the US (among locals), it doesn't mean Jimin's fans stopped supporting Jimin. They are still there. And even though, it doesn't seem like it, there are many Jimin biased people, with higher concentration in the US.
V and JK biased are mostly in Asia. But South America and US have big fraction of JM biased. And it works because Billboard hot 100 is US based.
And yes, I know about the pjm_fund fiasco in army twt. It was so ridiculous because if a solo fanbase is buying, they are still helping Jimin. Why tf should anyone have a problem with who is paying as long as Jimin gets the sales? I thought about it rationally. Army twt is officially off the rails. I've been observing now, their priorities are all misplaced and it's horrible out there.
I'm just happy that despite the lack of promotions, Jimin continues to gain new fans :) Though I was really disappointed that they didn't promote him properly in the US, despite having a fully english song.
Thank you for your insights, anon :)

This is yet another reminder that what we see on Twitter or the internet, in general, is not the absolute reality. Jimin is LOVED by millions of people in this fandom. Fans adore him. They respect and support him. This may not have been his concert, but these are his fans too. Jimin is cherished. Reality isn't confined to what happens on Twitter, and that's something we should always remember.

I’d like to remind anybody walking into my inbox that it’s 2024. It’s a whole new year y’all. The birds are chirping, the planet is dying, and the economy is in shambles.
Oh, and BTS re-signed with BigHit, early, again, with all the members currently enlisted to return by 2025. Like they said they would, way back in 2022.
Anybody still struggling to process the reality of how Billboard manages the advancement of BTS in the Western music scene, anybody who still doesn’t understand the reality that is BTS wanting to be OT7 and always choosing the group above all else, anybody who still doesn’t know basic things like how to put an English sentence into a translator to get an output in a language that’s perhaps easier for them to parse…
Anybody who still can’t get any of these things, in 2024, really ought to think twice before visiting my inbox. Because it’s a new year, and my patience for explaining the basics has expired. A lot of you are now well past being baby ARMYs. Whatever narratives you’ve adopted by this point are reflective of your logical aptitude and no matter how many times the basics are explained, you won’t get it. There’s nothing to be done for it and so I won’t waste my time.
I suggest you not waste yours either, so you’re probably better off self-sorting into the fandom buckets that cater to the kinds of talking points you like to see.
I’m saying this because some of you might not know why your asks are being ignored, and well, if you’re still struggling with those three points mentioned above, then you likely won’t get a response from me. You can search my blog using any tags you think are relevant to see what I’ve said on the topic, or browse my Masterlist and archive.
Good luck. 💜

I love to see my biases get the BB 1s, but when one starts making that their goal, hmm that kind of disconnects me from them as an artist.
I won't say more. I just wish artists I stan placed more focus on the art. Let charts happen naturally.
You're blog isn't like the blind fandom, so I am saying this here.
It's not hard to see through things. Chapter 2 has been interesting so far. I am not making any opinions based of things that are happening, but if it becomes a pattern with the artist, well... that's a problem.
Anon, we both know who were're talking about, lol. I'm gonna use the names, for the sake of making it easier for me to write a response.
A few weeks ago, I was watching this documentary about Wham. Some light entertainment for me initially, but it did offer me the chance for a fresh perspective. I don't exactly remember the details, but they've reached a point in which George Michael wanted to have 4 songs to reach number 1 on some chart, the fourth being Last Christmas. He was a bit obsessed with this and he also wanted to be a bigger artist. In later archival interviews, Michael actually mentions it was his ego as an artist because he knew he could. And he did, he outgrew the boyish band and the situation was almost ideal because Andrew, his bandmate, also knew that. It also meant getting away from their carefully constructed image, the object of desire for teenagers and women everywhere. For George, it was also about stepping away from performing a specific type of heteronormativity that can be found in boy bands. It never crossed my mind while watching it that his ego is too big, or why is he so obsessed with the charts. Maybe because it was all in the past and I've seen what the future would hold for him. Or that when I heard him talk about what he wants to achieve and his inner struggle, there was sincerity there and also that drive that only someone really young can have when they believe they can do anything.
I've read Jungkook's Weverse interview and listened to what he had to say during the Seven promotions. And while there may be some comparisons to be made to how George Michael came across when talking about his musical career, there were also some differences.
I'm glad to see Jungkook being more confident. I remember some of the things he used to say in the past, about his self worth, a lack of confidence and meaning outside the group. That wasn't healthy. And to hear him now, especially on Suchwita, it's a 180° change. But in his case, there's a very fine line between being confident and becoming cocky. And that's not a good look. It's almost like he's trying to project an image of a new Jungkook but one that is still in the works and not all parts fit perfectly together. He's going through a transformation ever since the hiatus, which I expected. It was about having to adapt to a different pace, life after 10 years of being part of a group. Jungkook was always trying to find his identity and this single is only one step in that journey.
But that doesn't mean that I as a fan and as a person, have to like it. If it doesn't match with what I'm looking for in the artists that I'm interested in, then so be it. I will talk about it, but I'll also not follow that person's musical career anymore. If I don't like the artistic direction and I don't like this overconfident, slighly exaggerated bravado, then that's it.
It's also impossible to not make a comparison to Jimin. Not for some dick measuring contest (it's what pjms and jjks are doing), but because there is room and justification for it. Both are from the same kpop group, both have embarked on a solo career and both chose a more mainstream pop music, as opposed to their older bandmates. And both got that BB 1. And what we can compare is song quality, artist reaction and how the company's response came across into fan spaces.
In terms of the songs, I could write entire essays because at the end of the day, it wouldn't matter. It's all subjective. There is no rule that says a number one song should be about some personal experience, or the singer should have writing credits on it. And I also can't take away my subjectivity. I will chose Like Crazy over a song that not only sounds like a Bieber tune from years ago, but also has lyrics as if they were written by the boys from Larry Clark's Kids.
As to the reaction, Jimin did exactly what I expected him to do. He was humble, grateful and emotional and we saw that when he turned on the livestream. It's what makes him who he is and how he always behaves. As opposed to that, Jungkook wanted to be appear cool. And for what? Especially when later he said how excited he actually was but he refrained from expressing that. Where's the authenticity that he seeks so much through his livestreams? Because he released a song about sex for which he never officially performed live the explicit version, that means that the attitude should match that? I know the next day he was live and he was really nice. But that entire event is tainted in my mind with this almost expectation and confidence that he'll get that no. 1 and after he got the western validation, they decided to remember there's fans at home too and went to Inkigayo.
Which leads me to the last point that shows the obvious bias and preference that cannot simply be denied when it comes to BH. It's even more obvious because the entire BTS brand was that there are no favorites, which is not the same strategy as with other companies and groups. And now, all of a sudden, there is. It's great that BH celebrates an artist's success and they can immediately put on a show. But it doesn't justify how the first one to have the achievement was ignored. I have to admit, I was happy when Jimin got his no. 1 because I thought it only meant more promotions, more Jimin, more of everything. Just to be left utterly confused.
I've put that all in the past and I really try not to get too emotionally involved because as an individual, it has no bearing on my personal life and it doesn't have that many negative effects on my fan engagement.
I side eye Jungkook for how he presents himself in official promotions, but then he goes live and all of a sudden, it's the Jungkook that I'm used to. The guy who is a dork and funny and grateful to his fans. The one who cries hearing fan songs and who still beats himself up for hours because he messed up a song. I do criticize some of his actions and statements, but I'm not slandering him. The guy seems like a genuinely nice person and I still like him. He's still one of my biases for many reasons. But me having this reaction to content catered specifically for fans to create a more intimate connection is something BH was always good at. We only have to look at all the BTS footage out there. They've perfected the way in which personality comes first a lot of the times. It's what draws fans in (aside from music) and what keeps them interested. I'm part of that.
I'm convinced that it's most likely that a Jungkook fan or army or whoever disagrees with me, will read all this and believe I hate Jungkook. Which would be a shame because all I'm trying to do is explain how complex this situation is. It's never as black and white as solo stans would like everyone to believe and it's not a debate that can be generalized and tossed aside as solo talk by the ot7 chorus. I'm sure there are a lot of reasonable people in this fandom still who are able to have more than one thought in their head and see that only through a naunced discussion we can look at facts, see what's an exaggeration and what's false. To be able to distinguish between facts and personal opinion and also to admit that. That's not possible if we're not looking at these people as complex beings, instead of victims and villains.

Military service is proving to these ao3 lovers that he isn't what you created for him. I just want our man to realize whole in the service that he is worth it stop minimizing himself for people that don't care about him be selfish for once.
I feel like some of you want jimin to be exactly what y’all call some of the other members out for and that’s just not him. There’s no minimizing going on that he’s doing. He’s never been the type to hold himself back so others can shine. Even other members have had to get on him about doing the exact opposite. He’s never once been like “I’ll never be as good as “x” or spoken lowly of himself because jimin knows his worth. He doesn’t need to become arrogant to get that point across. Jimin could’ve flat out said in that letter that he did poorer on purpose because he didn’t want jk to feel bad about ranking behind, but no. He did his best, got 1st then said jk was still doing well instead. Jimin’s confident in his abilities without having to oversell it and he uplifts other people because he genuinely wants to, not out of obligation or to make them out like they’re superior to him. And I don’t think that’s something he needs to change.

there's not a day that i don't think about the jikook travel show. i'm super excited about namjoon's album, and i know i'll love it just as much as indigo if not more, so don't take this theory as a dismissal. i just have the feeling that jimin's album? ep? (at least a single) will come after rpwp and MAYYBE then we'll get the travel show for summer.
some of my twitter mutuals did say the show would be more appropriate for fall/winter since they went to sapporo and they could release it around jimin's birthday, which imo would work only if jin's solo comes out in summer (i feel like that's a bit rushed) and then jimin, and hobi's at the beginning of 2025. i don't think tae, jk or yoongi have any other projects lined up since tae already released friends (and i think he might have a collab in rpwp). yoongi i'm a 100% sure. jk... i think the travel show would make up for not having another single, we know he was the last one to release something so i doubt he had time to also prepare something else.
My ideal release schedule: may (rpwp) - june we're busy with jin returning and FESTA, if anything a late june announcement of jimins solo - july pjm2, with the travel show extending until august? mayyybe ending on jk's birthday? - then for jin and hobi, i think jin's album could be ready by late october or the start of november. for hobi, i'm betting spring 25, earliest would be February. but i think they might want to keep less time between a release and the other members coming home.
watch all of this be wrong, lol. we'll see !

I finally got to watch MiniMoni’s listening dinner, and here are my thoughts:
1. In Spanish, there is a phrase "polo a tierra," which I find difficult to translate directly into English. Essentially, it means that someone is a grounding force or anchor for another person, providing stability and balance. So, Jimin is the person who keeps Namjoon grounded and balanced within the group, and probably plays a similar role in his life in general.
2. I gained a deeper understanding of the dynamics of Jimin and Namjoon's relationship. I think they balance each other very well, not only artistically but also intellectually. Jimin understands Namjoon even when what he says isn't entirely clear. I feel that for Namjoon, Jimin is also someone who truly listens and comprehends what he says. And he really treasure that. The fact that Jimin can finish Namjoon's sentences and ideas confirmed to me that they operate on the same wavelength.
3. Am I the only one who wasn't surprised when Namjoon said he intended to enlist at the same time as Hobi? Now, I wonder how much and how often their enlistment plans changed after Jin’s enlistment at least.
4. I would really love for them to be completely honest in the future about everything they’ve gone through. I wish they would talk about the expectations placed on them by the industry, their country, and their fans. I would love to hear them speak candidly about how they felt at certain moments, when they read specific rumours or when they were told certain things.
5. Namjoon mentioned that they went through a long and difficult time due to the issue of their military service. I would love for them to talk more about that in the future.
6. It’s curious, amusing, and endearing how BTS - as a group- is always present in everything they say as solo artists. I know it might sound obvious, but what I mean is that, for them, the group and what it represents it isn’t exactly separate from their solo careers or productions, even though technically it is. I don’t mean this just musically.
7. It’s lovely how they repeatedly affirm that they are always together, even or especially when they are not physically together. It’s heartwarming to confirm that they genuinely know and support each other.
8. It’s incredible to see Namjoon’s level of introspection. It’s refreshing to see how he has reached perhaps uncomfortable conclusions about his personality or behaviour as the group’s leader. Although I think this has also happened in his life in general. Considering he is a famous person, adored by millions, a Korean (noting that Korean society, especially for men, tends to be very macho and often struggles to admit flaws), and a man, it’s remarkable.

Six marvelous months with Park Jimin
January 2023
The year started with the announcement that Jimin had been appointed as the Global Brand Ambassador for Christian Dior (17/01). The occasion was marked with six Awesome magazine covers and the Dior Fashion Show in Paris (20/01). The fashion establishment was blown away by the response to Jimin's participation in the show.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The same month Jimin released Vibe (13/01) , a dream collaboration with his long time musical hero Taeyang from Big Bang.
Tumblr media
youtube
This was both artists first solo hit on the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 76.
February 2023
Jimin did a live on 03/02 in which he confirmed that his solo music, although a little delayed, was likely to come out in March 2023.
Tumblr media
On 21/02, Big Hit announced that FACE would be released on 24/03/23. The next day they published the countdown schedule and on the 23/02 the tracklist for the album.
Tumblr media
March 2023
On 02/03, Jimin was named Ambassador for Tiffany & Co which he wore spectacularly in his photoshoot for Vogue that month.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
On 06/03, Soundcloud super track Promise along with Jimin's yuletide gift to ARMY, Christmas Love were added to Jimin's Spotify profile. The era of streaming Jimin's profile had begun.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
From then on, everything started speeding towards the release of FACE. The Hardware and Software images came out.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Set Me Free Pt 2 exploded into the world on 17/03. Nobody saw it coming and it caused a furore on social media. It was a clear statement of intent. I am here to stay and I am here to slay. It debuted at No.30 on the Billboard Hot 100.
youtube
Tumblr media
FACE was released on 24/03 along with the Like Crazy MV. Speaking for myself Like Crazy blew me away. Jimin set out to make a statement with that song and I will always be proud to be the fan of such an honest and brave artist.
youtube
With the release of FACE we also discovered that hidden on the record was a very special song, Letter, in which Jungkook sings background vocals.
youtube
That last week of March saw Jimin appeared on the Jimmy Fallon Show with a live performance of Like Crazy.
Tumblr media
In the next 9 days, he gave comeback performances on MCountdown, Music Bank and Inkiagayo. He came live to thank ARMY for turning up to his shows. He won awards. He appeared on the radio, on the entertainment shows Beat Coin, Ddeun Ddeun and Pixid. He even did fan meetings.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
April 2023
On 01/04 Jimin gave an unforgettable acoustic rendition of Like Crazy live on Lee Mujin Service April Fools Edition.
youtube
And then on 03/04, Jimin made history. The first South Korean to ever make No.1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and the first Asian Artist to do so in 60 years. He came live in the early hours of the morning, clearly shellshocked but brimming over with gratitude to everyone who had supported the album and the song.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then on 05/04 the promotions were over and Jimin once again expressed his happiness and thanks to ARMY for supporting FACE.
Tumblr media
It had been a whirlwind and I think we, as well as Jimin, were caught off guard when the promotions ended so quickly. We had a beautiful album to savour but we wanted to continue to savour it with Jimin.
The focus returned to fashion when Jimin flew to New York at the end of April to attend the Tiffany & Co Landmark opening (28/04).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He attended Suga's concert in Newark on the 29/04 and headed back to South Korea later that week. But why didn't he fly straight back after the concert we wondered?
Tumblr media
May 2023
It all soon became clear, he had been filming the MV for Angel Pt 1 from the Fast X movie. The song came out on the 19/05 and debuted at No. 65 on the Billboard Hot 100. This was Jimin's fourth chart entry in five months.
Tumblr media
youtube
At the end of the month, Jimin made a short trip to London and we are still speculating on what that was all about. He posted photos of his trip to HP World as soon as he got back to South Korea on 27/05.
Tumblr media
June 2023
Festa 2023 soaked Seoul in purple for nearly three weeks at the beginning of June in celebration of BTS's ten years since debut. Jimin gifted fans with a live performance of Dear.ARMY on 07/06 and....
youtube
,,,,,,on 13/06 BTS released this beautiful live version of Take Two with Jimin adding depth and colour to the song with his stunning vocals.
youtube
But there was still more to come, on 15/06 Jimin came live in high spirits and spent quality time with ARMY. It was the same day as the release of Angel Part 2.
Tumblr media
youtube
On the 27/06 Jimin's solo profile appeared on Billboard and serves as a permanent reminder of everything that has happened in the short space of 6 months. It has been a roller coaster ride and I am still hopeful that we will still get more music from Jimin before he has to enlist. I wanted to make this post so that no one forgets what he has achieved and the permanent mark he has made on the global music industry since he took his first steps towards a solo career.

Can ya'll believe Jimin DID THAT?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Just him with a 6 song, EP debut solo album, 10 days of promotion only, no paid radio play, the whole industry (especially HIS OWN company) sabotaging him left and right. Every single fandom out to try and claim his records.
CRAZY, right?

Maybe I'm just emotional because of all the news, but you emphasizing 'like they always said they would' really got me.
The entire time I've been a fan I've always felt they are as honest as they can be about the group. They maintain their privacy and hide the hard times etc, but they are as straightforward about the group and their direction as they can be. The only time I've ever felt myself waver from that was the hiatus announcement. I think that was down to the way it was announced and how even at that time they were still skirting enlistment talk so couldn't be fully upfront. It was the only time I questioned if I'd been lead on a bit about them wanting to remain a group. It was very shortlived and all through Chapter 2 they've done nothing but reaffirm what I'd always felt about the way in which they communicate with us. If you actually listen to what they say and take what they say in good faith then they are doing exactly what they said they would. Nothing should be a surprise really, especially after a literal contract renewal.
I'm feeling sad, but actually this announcement has been the least hard for me. I think it was expected and knowing it's all at once, having a clearer timelime eases the remaining uncertainty. I am looking forward to whatever surprises we've got coming, the chaos Jin and Hobi being in charge will bring, and looking forward to the time they can do whatever they want group/solo work etc without all of this hanging over all our heads.
***
This is everything. Thanks for sending this in.
