Mischaracterizing Nico di angelo as some 'shy gay boi' instead of a teen who was raised in homophobic, early dictatorship 1924 Italy is gross.
Nico isn't shy or embarrassed about his queerness the boy has internalized homophobia, 1920s Italy was not a safe place for queer people and Nico's early experience with queer people was likely seeing them belittled, berated or abused.
I would put actual money on saying that Nico's first reaction to his own or others queerness isnt embarrassment or confusion but revulsion, fear, shame or hate for it, especially after dealing with feelings of isolation and otherness from both Camp half blood and Camp Jupiter.
He isn't some cutesy shy boy who gets flustered he's a teenager struggling to accept and understand himself after, in his formative years, most likely being told what he feels is wrong, shameful or unnatural.
(also not to mention the culture shock it would've been for him to see queerness an gayness being accepted in the 21st century and in both ancient Greek/Rome an how he'd have to rationalize that with his already made world view)

Hiya yone! Recently my brain has been infested with bugs that want me to make a Circe Nico AU (Nico is Circe?? Kinda.)
You are the glorious fanfic writer who can conjure up anything from anything, so please do your magic.
I'll try my best, however I only know like. 2 stories about Circe at best? So please don't put too much trust in me lol 😅😅
The first one is when Odysseus visits her during his return voyage to Ithaca. I forgot most of it (typical me) except that she turns his crew into animals, which Odysseus managed to convince her to undo and if I'm not mistaken, they live together for a while?? Let's just go with it.
As for this story, I think it would fit best with Jasico? Mainly bc they have that sort of enemies-to-lovers air (Jason distrusted Nico at first). Jason is best fit to be a returning hero, too. Though the Cupid debacle is like heaven and earth with mere convincing on Odysseus' part, I reckon we can work around it with enough maneuver. Why does Nico accept to turn them back? - Maybe he's feeling generous, maybe he's a petulant lonely witch who wants people to stay but never knows how to voice it, and ppl often run at the first sight of him, so he just turns them into animals to keep them by her side.
In the end, Odysseus leaves Circe. This aligns well with the fact that Jason just dropped dead shortly after he and Nico became friends. Which is a funny (and depressing thought) if you put thoughts into it. Which I can't atm lmoa.
Anw. think of it as a piece of quiet Jason has given Nico in the expanse of his loneliness. That, though he was swept away by the natural order of things at the end, Jason did try his best to alleviate Nico's pain. So I reckon there should be a little bit of affection - if not love - in there.
The second story is, well, Circe and Scylla. And the male lover whose name I forget.
This is a classic case of jealousy - so who fits it better than Percy, the canon epitome of every jealous trope in the history of fiction?
sorry that was my pettiness talking. Anywayyyyy, I suppose I don't need to talk about this... I mean it's pretty clear who is who and how the story transpires: Circe is in love with that-something-sea-god, who is in love with Scylla, so Circe turns her into a monster. The only difference between Circe and Nico in this is that he doesn't do anything to Annabeth (even refuses to hate her still. gosh).
But that wouldn't be Percico, is it? So I say just say fuck it and make Percy a sea monster or something Idk. A witch living secluded in an island with his beloved sea monster? I'm in.
Another choice would be to make Annabeth the bad one but I'm in no position to make that propose.
If you still want to keep the story, and if you're any of an unhinged person like me, just make Nico the villain. Well, Circe is the villain in this story, yeah? Embrace it - Nico as the powerful witch, whose loneliness-induced jealousy wreaks havoc on even a sea god. What's left is not love - because love is the last thing Yone needs in fanfics srsly - but an impression of terror, of how disastrous Nico's love can be.
The concepts mix well in this case btw. I remember a painting of Circe pouring a plate filled with poison into the sea. Just imagine it - a blinding blackness spreading rapidly across the lapping water with just a touch of Nico's dainty finger. The shadows overlap with the roaring waves - the black undercurrents raging all the same - and darkness swallows all those whom he call enemies. If Percy's the sea and Nico's the lightless bottom, dark, mysterious, and full of threats.
That's everything I have atm, I guess. Sorry for not being able to help much :(((

So I'm trying to get back into writing the next chapter of my fic Mama's Boy.
Which is basically, Jason Grace dies and gets all his memories back. And no one saw that coming and was not prepared for the consequences.
A ghost, a spirit can't deal with 16 years of unsolved greif, pain and trauma being unloaded onto them all at once.
So it transforms him into a Mania. Which, if you see the title of the fic is exactly what happened to Beryl Grace.
Like mother like son.
The first bit is Nico meeting Jason's ghost and the signs that somethings up that Nico himself has missed.
Things that a ghost shouldn't be able to do, like cry.
Because Jason hasn't descended into rage yet. For now he's just reminiscing memories he shouldn't have.
But it's about to reach the point where he just explodes with anger.
And it's told as Nico recounting the story to that point of rage, to some people's.
I wonder who 👀
And it's intresting because Jason's target isn't even the Olympians.
It's Camp Jupiter.
Oh don't worry Zeus/Jupiter, Juno/Hera and Lupa are going to get their taste of angry Jason.
But Camp Jupiter is the focal point.
Because they destroyed him. Because there's a momorial to a beloved soilder and Jason hates it all.
Jason just wants to watch the world burn, aka Camp Jupiter.
It's punctuated by the fact Jason's spirit isn't in the clothes he was buried in. But what was he was wearing when he was killed.
Blood stained and all.
And it's about Nico, Nico who lost himself to his own anger and greif finding his way to Jason. And letting him grieve over his own life and loss.
It's platonic Jasico btw, it's their friendship and Jason's friendship with everyone else that saves him from himself.
I couldn't save you than.
So let me save you now.

for the ask game: headcanons for nico di angelo? (if you haven’t read the books, then ricky bowen 🤠)
Sorry this took me so long...
I have indeed read the books, so I'll tackle both!
Nico Di Angelo:
Sexuality - Gay
A ship - I actually do like Solangelo a fair bit, they're not my faves per se, but I don't have glaring issues with them (especially compared with say, Caleo).
However for the sake of fun, I also love Jasico (I hope I have that name right). Minor aside that I'm about 90% sure Jason is (he's fine, TBM didn't happen I promise) a closeted gay man based on a number of hints dropped in TBM, plus vibes plus he just screams internalized heteronormativity. So I really wish we could've explored more of Nico and Jason's dynamic. Plus they'd be incredibly adorable about one-upping each other's displays of "touch him and die" imo.
A BROTP - Percico, I totally get why shipping them romantically is a thing, but I also adore the dynamic idea that Nico completely got over Percy and Percy's a little salty about it, plus the level of trust they eventually displayed regardless of the definition of their relationship is very special to me. (End of MoA always gets me right in the feels).
A NOTP - I don't have any specific ones...so I guess I'll just say any ship that tries to get him involved romantically with a woman.
A random headcanon - Though he mostly put Mythomagic behind him, he has since become a massive D&D nerd, with multiple fully fleshed out characters and a couple campaign ideas that he badgers people to play with him. (Also the main cast of HoO playing D&D is a podcast I wish was real, Critical Role style...)
General Opinion - I love Nico, top 3 Percy Jackson Universe characters (I think, I haven't gone through and put together an exact ranking ever since I love almost all of them), not super happy when the writing leans too far into the 'edgy' side of him, but his dry wit is always a pleasure, and he's also capable of backing up the edge with badassery.
His original artwork will always give me nightmares though.
Richard 'Ricky' Bowen:
Sexuality - Bisexual
Gender - Cis Male, though he did experiment with they/them pronouns to see if they felt better to him. They didn't, but he's glad he tried.
A ship - Caswen. Obviously. I think my canon rewrite of half the show serves as adequate explanation of my love for them.
A BROTP - Redky. The friendship/brotherhood between Big Red and Ricky was something I really enjoyed in the first two seasons, it felt quite accurate to my high school experiences and I also find their interactions in fanfiction very endearing. Plus it provides more fuel to my fire that Caswen are NOT brotherly since we have a perfect brotherly relationship for Ricky right there and it looks nothing like his relationship to EJ imo.
Plus I'm still extra irritated that in addition to the rampant biphobia in how Big Red's storyline was handled, they also tried to shove him out of the picture and replace him with Jet in S4, with a scene in E3 especially feeling like the dialogue was written for BR and then they had Jet read it for...no discernable reason.
A NOTP - ...Rina /s.
In all seriousness the only answer I can readily come up with is Rily, because wtf was that subplot even supposed to be, but I struggle to think of NOTPs for Ricky since my brain is mostly Caswen or bust. I thought of the EJ alternatives purely because Tim is so militant about Rina, but I really don't know what Ricky would do outside of preferably Caswen or Tim's beloved 'canon' Rina. And while I do think Rini work better as friends, I also wouldn't call them a NOTP since I feel kind of bad for some Rini shippers (not the creepy ones, the normies for lack of a better term).
Idk, I guess I'll just say Rily and move on.
A random headcanon - Ricky loves the Spice Girls. Where did this HC come from you ask? I have no idea. But I feel like it fits.
The urge to write a mini-fic of Ricky and EJ dancing at their wedding to 'Spice up Your Life' is rising. (Totally not influenced by Doctor Who)
General Opinion - I love Ricky. Not quite as much as Elton, but that's a pretty high bar to clear since Elton rose to my top ten of all time list pretty easily. I have mixed feelings about S3 and S4 Ricky since I felt like they made him overly obsessed with Gina and lost a lot of the charm of his earlier plotlines centering on familial trauma and figuring out his own desires in life, but he's still high ranking for HSMTMTS characters, and I obviously love Caswen to death, so it's hard for me to say I don't also adore Ricky as a special little guy.
That spiraled into a bit of a ramble. Point is that I do really like Ricky, I just wish the writing for him later in the show was less...self-parodic...if that makes any sense.

Jasico Bingo Challenge #18!!
Prompt: College AU
New Rome University was rather boring, in Nico's opinion. When he took up a job at the campus library, the Library of Alexander, he was trying to find something to make class less boring. That was certainly going to happen, just not in the way he expected.
Nico rearranged books all day. The nerdy kid in him who always spent far too much time in the library loved the job. His fear of heights and the giant library ladder did not.
Luckily, the gods-awful ladder couldn't bug him when all he did all day was rearrange books students often checked out--IE not the ones they all had to use the hated ladder for--and write his book recommendation blog.
He occasionally got questions from students who weren't quite as adept at the Dewey decimal system as him, and he'd briefly leave his book cart to help them. So, it was no surprise when his rearranging was halted by a student walking over.
It was, however, a surprise when the person stopping by was the one and only student Nico had a crush on, his lab partner Jason Grace.
Jason smiled at him as Nico looked over. "Hey, Nico. I didn't know you worked here." Jason smiled, the same smile that always managed to make Nico's face red.
"Yeah, I usually work in the morning. There was just an open shift this afternoon and I took it." Nico mumbled, now acutely aware of his messy hair and the clips and claw clip in it.
Jason's voice dragged him back to reality. "Do you know if this library has The Great Gatsby?"
Nico nodded, pulling out his phone to go on the library's website and see if it was checked out or not.
"I know we have it, I read it a few days ago. I'm not sure if it's checked out, though," Nico mumbled. He looked it up and found that it was checked out. "Ah, sorry. Looks like it's checked out."
Nico looked up at Jason, who clicked his tongue and thought about what his next step was. Nico felt bad. Usually, he'd leave people to their own devices by now, but Jason was different for some reason.
"Was it for a book report or something specific to that book?" Nico asked, avoiding eye contact.
"It's just for a book report."
"There's a book I like that's pretty similar. It's also about some rich guy who has a tragic life."
Jason laughed. "What is it?"
"The Picture of Dorian Gray."
Jason let Nico show him where the book was and took it with a smile. "Thanks, man," he said, giving Nico a pat on the back that almost knocked him over. "See you in lab tomorrow."
"See you," Nico mumbled, genuinely considering climbing to the top of the library ladder and jumping off at the thought of having to do a lab tomorrow.
The next day, after practically dragging himself to the laboratory on campus, Nico took his seat next to Jason.
"Hey," Jason greeted, smiling as always.
Nico was slightly less chipper but made an effort to smile for Jason. "Hey, man."
A few seconds of silence passed. Nico tried not to look at Jason. He listened to the lab instructor intently.
After the instructor talked, everyone got to work on the project. Nico, a violent hater of chemistry in all forms, let Jason do his thing and gave occasional help when needed.
"I'm enjoying that book, by the way," Jason said, still maintaining focus on the project while he had his beloved small talk.
"I'm glad," Nico tried to smile back, "it's one of my favorites."
"Is it now?"
Nico tried not to implode at the sound of Jason's voice and just nodded, hiding a blush behind the mop that was his hair when it wasn't tied up. He wrote something down on their lab sheets, mostly just to keep himself busy.
"Maybe you can explain something to me, then," Jason said, a hint of question in his tone, something Nico was embarrassed he noticed.
"Sure, I love that book."
"What's the importance of Syble Vane's character? I'm only on page fifty, but I just don't get her."
Nico chewed his lip before answering, "You have to read more to find out, she gets more important later."
Jason didn't seem satisfied with this response, but he was too enraptured in the project to fully explain his question yet. Nico took the opportunity to look him over, admiring details he hadn't yet noticed, which were few and far between.
"I mean," Jason clarified, "why does she exist?"
Nico thought about that. "Well, for where you are, she's Dorian's first love. She's the one who makes him realize he's not the only important person alive. She breaks him out of his obsession with himself, if only for a second."
Jason laughed lightly. "Write that down, I'm stealing that for my book report."
Nico smiled a real smile. "I could be way off, that's just how I interpreted it."
"Do you read a lot? Or is working at the library just a convenience?" Jason asked.
Nico felt oddly flustered. Jason managed to have that effect. It really felt like the things he asked weren't just small talk, but a true care for people. Nico convinced himself it was all chatter, and swallowed any fluster still left within him.
"I read a lot. I always have," Nico said, shrugging.
"I might have to start getting all my book recommendations from you," Jason smiled.
Nico was flustered, once again.
At the end of class, Nico wished they could talk just a little more. However, he resigned to the cruelty of labs and walked back to his dorm, unable to shake the semi-compliment from Jason that was now infecting all his thoughts. Nico went back to his dorm, worked on his book blog, and fell asleep with Jason's voice swarming in his thoughts.
A few weeks later, Jason came practically running into the library at seven in the morning. Nico had been chatting with Clovis, who worked the book check counter. He looked over at Jason curiously, wondering what book-related drama was so important it needed to take place at such an unreasonable hour of the morning.
"Are you GhostReader?!" Jason practically yelled, making Clovis point at the sign telling everyone to quiet down.
"I-uh-" Nico fumbles. "How on earth did you find that blog?" His cheeks turned red. Suddenly, that horrible ladder didn't look so bad.
Clovis took this as his sign to suddenly have something to do in the other room and stood to meander through the doorway to the back.
"I've used that blog for my book reports since I was a freshman here!" Jason said. "I've been plagiarizing your work since I even knew what a blog was."
Nico laughed, "Well, I'm glad you liked it, I guess?"
"Are you kidding? I love everything you write!"
Nico smiled, and just as quickly as he had entered, Jason left. he said something about having a class to get to, but Nico wasn't paying attention. It was hard to hear him over Nico's heartbeat in his ears.
Clovis walked out from the back room once Jason had left. "So, when's the wedding?"
"Shut up."
For the next week or so, Nico and Jason discussed books regularly. While Nico's mental library was quite a bit larger, they still had some points of conversation.
One morning, months later, Nico sat at the counter beside Clovis, on break. He looked up when Clovis elbowed him, snickering.
Jason walked in, face red, and sat a to-go cup down on the counter before turning and silently leaving. Nico picked it up and examined black Sharpie written on the side of the cup in messy, panicked handwriting.
"A tea for all the help you've given me on my book reports (P.S. I think you're really cute)"
Beneath the writing was a phone number. Nico felt his face grow hot immediately, a small smile overtaking him.
Clovis leaned over Nico's shoulder to read the messy Sharpie. "Nice. How's the tea taste, loverboy?"
Nico took a sip before laughing. "It's so awful."
"At least you got his number."
