New intro with WIPs
Hello everyone and nice to meet you!
I decided to do a new introduction including my WIPs, since it was about time. I am Janec, 31, she/her, plant biotechnologist, climate change anxious.
If you have questions about plants for your WIPs, including GMOs, bio-techniques, plant physiology feel free to ask :) I love carnivorous plants, so if you have them in your work bonus points!
I’m an extremely emphatic person, which means it’s easy (most of the time) for me to understand other people and their feelings, so I’m always open to help, listen and encourage others, I just need to be away from emotional vampires and drama queens O.O but I love them as well :)
I read everything except extreme violence and gore, and I am happy to read your WIPs, so don’t be shy about them! I am open for ask and tag games! I am already behind, but I will do them all ^^'
More under the cut
About my writing:
I dealt with emotions and feelings from other people all my life, so I also deal with them in my WIPs, since this is what I know best ;)
I mostly write novels for teenagers, romance and occasionally erotica.
Most common tropes: family, friends, found love, self discovery, female condition and healing from trauma or past events.
I hate toxic relationships portrayed as romantic, so you won’t find them here.
I grew up in a small christian village, so there was not so much variety of people there, which is also reflected in my early works, now that I am out of there I found out how colorful and various is the world!
So I’m trying to put a diverse cast in my work (yes, even monsters), even if I’m always afraid of hurting someone from such communities (So please, help me understand and correct my mistakes!)
I have tons of WIPs, but I will focus on two for now, I am horrible with summaries so they might sounds boring XD
My WIPs:
Echoes in Cosmos
It’s a sci-fi romance from enemies - to therapy - to friends- to lovers. It’s set in a post-apocalyptic, post-climate change and post-nuclear war scenario.
The protagonists are Robin a cold mechanical engineer from Kepler and Corinna a earthling with special powers and a boring life. Their story is complicated and a bit twisted, especially because they both have unsolved issued with their family, their society or themselves and Robin is sent to Earth to fight, capture and study Corinna. (Great start!)
Main themes: a bit of world-building, trauma and healing, second chances, found love and few +18 scenes that I will not post here.
First chapter here on AO3
The boarding student (title may change, since I don't like it)
It’s a super slow burn romance set up in a regency french setting. William is a 17 years old marquise, by education he knows what is a gentleman and how he should behave. What he doesn’t know is that people are more variegated than he thinks and less inclined to be put into boxes, so when he’s forced to enrolled in the College of Holy Abbots, he’s in for a big change in his life. A change that Julien is more than happy to provide.
Main themes: friendship, family, love, inclusion, broken stereotypes and teenage vibes. (I am currently translating it in english for a friend)
I will eventually post some snippets from other WIPs if I feel like it ;)
This is something I'm really proud of ^^
Or you can ask something from my WIP folder here!

✨NEW WRITEBLR TAG GAME JUST DROPPED✨
If you're struggling with breathing life into your OC's, try this funny yet stupidly simple trick/writeblr tag game I just came up with. I call it the 'Roast Your OCS and Make It Into a Title' tag game. 🤣
So, we've all heard of fictional character archetypes and stereotypes that are often present in fiction, right? We all know it's not good to have shallow, surface level characters that have no complexity or nuance to their personalities, because real life humans contain multitudes, contradictions, and are in general very complicated beings.
Throw all that shit out for this exercise and toss it into the trash! 🗑️ In this tag game, we're gonna be reducing all our OC's to the most basic, mundane, stereotypical/archetypal renditions of themselves and making it Fit Into a Title!
Here's an example of my main character + his besties from my Science Fantasy WIP:
Cold and Stoic Pretty Boy Loaner With Social Anxiety and Unhealed Trauma Tries to Save His Sister
Disowned Goth Femme Fatale With Bitchy Yet Gentle Attitude Is Socially Neglected and Cries A Lot
Occasionally Serious Himbo City Boy Cop Tries and Fails to Fight Crime With Therapy and Rehabilitation
Snobby Know-It-All Imperial Man Who Somehow Has Both A Superiority and Inferiority Complex
Protective Amazonian Lesbian Sadist Who Will Absolutely Step On You and Ruin Your Life Forever
Gifted Slutty Bisexual Boy Genius Is Hiding a Dark Secret and Is Very Zesty (Rude) About It
For this tag game I'm gonna be tagging A LOT of people but mainly people who've interacted with me recently. Free to reblog if you see this on your dash, even if you're not tagged. I find this shit HILARIOUS and I would love to see what everyone manages to come up with! No pressure at all if you don't wanna participate, this is all just for fun. ❤️😊

Build Your Own Writing Haven Tag
Thank you very much for tagging me, @beginning-of-wisdom!
My dream writing space would be this cosy little nook in the middle of the woods lol. Like this:
Tumblr media
I'd enjoy the peace and quiet. Plus, my fantasy/fairytale-loving self would enjoy the idea of pretending that I was working in an enchanted forest lol.
And I feel like the inside of it would be somewhat similar to this little scene I found online that I've used in one of my YouTube videos. Here's a screenshot to give you an idea:
Tumblr media
Here's what my dream writing haven needs:
Breathtaking natural scenery - large arched window frames a stunning view of the lush, forest landscape, providing a serene backdrop
Comfy seating area - a plush couch with plenty of soft cushions and throws invites you to sink in and get comfortable for hours of uninterrupted writing (+ reading, with all the books. I want it to have a floor to ceiling bookshelf lined with all my faves)
Snacks - got to have a refreshment station lol
Fireplace + ample lighting
Good decoration - it needs to be aesthetic, of course. I love the feel of the screenshot (has a bit of a vintage feel to it), but it doesn't need to be exactly like this. I particularly enjoy the plants and the old-fashioned TV set. I'd probably put up my own posters instead of the signs. Another thing I'd add is a radio/speakers or something (I LOVE those old-fashioned radios... I also love those old-fashioned record players a whole lot)
A good old desk. Just a simple one where I can put all my writing supplies and stuff
And... yeah. I think that's about enough!
Tagging these people to go next: @mysticstarlightduck, @jay-avian, @sarandipitywrites, @sarahlizziewrites, @gummybugg,

Last Sentence Tag
Thanks to @clairelsonao3, here is her post.
RULES: Post the last sentence you wrote (fanfic / original / anything and tag as many people as there are words in the sentence.
It's honestly been so long since I added a sentence I'm making a guess at what was the last one I wrote.
God damn Thomas and his intentions.

9 People You Want to Know Better
Oh shoot no! I lied! There is one more tag from November.
Thank you, thank you, thank you @sender-paulson over here! (Sorry this is from so long ago)
And also, huge thanks to:
my beloved moot @aziz-reads over here
my dearly detested, @amostdelectablescribbler over here
a person I would dearly like to know more of @mundanemoongirl over here
another new friend! @marz-writes-shit over here
a moot I am most curious about @silverslipstream over here
Current book: Still City of Bones, but also Toll the Hounds (Malazan), but also Dune, but also why am I such a mood reader
Current fic: Good Slaves Never Break the Rules by @clairelsonao3 **Mind the CWs**
Currently watching: what is a movie? Tee Vee Showe? Never heard of her.
Next on my watch list: the live action A:tLA TV show. My bar is on the floor. My friends and I are organizing a watch party. We will make it fun if we have to.
Current hyperfixation (changed from obsession because I don't use that language for myself): I don't currently have one, but if I am very good and very, very careful, I might just be able to coax myself into hyperfixating on my papers that are due. I have been trying for a while now and I a getting close! I can feel it!
Last song: I was singing along to Tiny Dancer in the car.
Fav colour: still green. Specifically green like the underside of a maple leaf when the sun shines through. Though I also have a special place in my heart for literally any non-standard colour the sky turns (lavender, true purple, orange, gold, pink, azure, teal, lightning storm grey, snow-glow grey, that overcast white that is just a little too bright and so on...)
Sweet/spicy/savory?: I do like my sweets, but I always half the sugar. Every now and then I like a little spice but I am white and weak. (I did once eat for entire packets of admittedly weak wasabi to try to clear my nose during allergy season. It did work.) I love savory herbs and spices too, but in moderation. Migraines, ya know?
Relationship status: I need a boyfriend so bad. Please.
Last thing I googled: Festooned. To make sure it meant exactly what I thought it meant.
I love when the people I tag @ me and/or link back to my post. I love it when you reblog my post with questions, compliments, words of encouragement about my WIP, or even no comment at all. But please make your own post to complete this tag. Please do not turn my post into a reblog chain.
Now, who am I most curious to know more of? No pressure tag to: @janec23, @amandacanwrite, @aalinaaaaaa, @ijustwritehonestly, @kosmic-kore, @morganwriteblr, @unhingednovelist, @anulithots, and @ditzybitzyspider

Last Line Tag
OMG, how long has it been since I did a tag game? So long that people have stopped tagging me ... So thanks to (deep breath) @mysticstarlightduck, whose post is here, @tabswrites (post here), @winterandwords (post here) @theunboundwriter (post here) and @pleasestaywithmedarling (post here).
The other problem is that this late, virtually everything from Good Slaves Never Break the Rules is a spoiler, and I'd prefer to go forward than back ...
Nevertheless, here's a delightfully ambiguous line I harvested from a future as-yet-unnumbered chapter:
“No offense, sir, but you should probably turn in your badge.”
I don't know who's currently doing these, but I'll gently tag some silver friends as well as some golden friends. Please feel free to play along or ignore as you see fit!

OC 6 questions tag
Funny enough I created this tag game back when I joined Tumblr and I'm so happy it's still around! ^^
Thanks to @cthulhuloops for tagging me! Here's their post, and here's my original one when I was trying to make friends on Tumblr, and my spelling was... (never mind XD)
One question is missing, so I put it back :)
I'm doing this for my favorite alien, Robin since I feel like I've been neglecting him for way too long.
5 words to physically describe your OC (do you have a drawing? even better!)
Tall, slender, pale, dark, serious (drawing coming, but I suck)
2. Who inspire your OC? (can be your mum to a very famous fungi)
Nobody inspired him, I just have a thing for tall, dark, serious guys so I wanted one for myself, to delve into his mind and destroy his certainties. (Corinna does it, but still...)
3. Give me a song to define your OC (I will listen to it to enter in your WIP mood!)
I don't have a song for him, just some vibes... maybe A sleepless midnight punk romance from V for volume
4. If I meet your OC on the street, how would they greet me?
He doesn't care about humans, so he won't great you in any way, most likely will avert his gaze disgusted by how squat and fat are we. After meeting Corinna he starts to get interested in animals, insects and all forms of life on Earth, just because they don't exist on his planet and he's the curious type.
5. Can you OC be your best friend? Why?
No, he can't be my best friend, since he won't care listening to all my wips and crazy ideas, and he's too silent and judgy for my taste XD so I leave him to Corinna so she can take care of him ;)
6. 1 adjective and 1 noun to describe your OC (blue soul)
judgy keplerian
Here the list of questions:
Give me 5 words to describe your OC, or a picture, even better!
Who inspired your OC?
A song to define your OC
If I met your oc on the street how would they greet me?
Can your oc be your best friend? why?
1 adjective and 1 noun to describe your oc
And now for the tag! I gently summon: @everthewip, @cosmo-lexies, @star-studded-whales, @clairelsonao3, @romanceandshenanigans, @paintedbutton, @digital-chance

Hi! ^^ I want to know more about Xavier in Matchbreakers, how did he end up in this line of work? Is it well paid? (I may send my CV... :O) Do you have any snippet to share? :)
Hello and thanks for the ask!
Lots of good questions!! Xavier ended up in the company because he was in between jobs and desperately needed his next one. It seemed easy enough in the job posting but he is very wrong about that. It is exceptionally well paid and it even offers fabulous employee benefits, including security personnel when requested.
--
Here's a very rough snippet:
x sighs, running his fingers through his hair. outside the dressing room he hears. "i told you, that plaid suit wouldn't make x look good! he's supposed to be stunning, not artistic," the designer says and x can see them waving their hands in the air incredulously over the top of the door. stacy sighs obnoxiously loud. "yes, but remember the girlfriend's requests too. she wanted a forgettable breakup." x finally opens the dressing room door, holding the too-large suit. the designer turns towards him and holds out their hands. "well? too big? too small? thoughts?" x says, "it fits fine, just remember this outfit is for the fight outside of the restaurant." the designer sighs, reaching out to caress the fabric. "and what a shame too. it's such a nice suit. poor thing." the designer takes the suit away and puts it on a rack labeled with 'x,' full of a variety of outfits. x adjusts his jacket, looking over at stacy. "what's up? you don't normally come to my fittings."

WIP INTRO: THE BONE QUEEN
Tumblr media
Title: the Bone Queen
Genre: NA fantasy
Setting: The kingdom of Sweelough
Tropes: forced marriage, undead ruler, undead fiancé, ghosts and skeletons, pattern magic, unwise affairs, pregnancy (no, it's not Aubrey's), poisonings, depression, anorexia, damn all nobles, big hair and big dresses, and illiterate peasant MC
Story:
Two years ago, Elise accidentally freed an army of the undead. She paid for it. The Bone Queen snatched Elise from her family and locked her away in Bandrum Palace. Elise hates everything about it: the dead maids who wait on her, the queen who tortures her when she forgets to play the perfect noblewoman, and her undead fiancé, Aubrey, who expects Elise to carry his heirs. Elise's magic, which lets her see the dead as if they're still alive, makes being a brood mare to a skeleton all too possible. She has to escape, but the Bone Queen has bound her to the palace with a spell that lights her nerves on fire when she tries to leave. Worse, if Elise refuses to marry Aubrey, the queen will lock her family up for life.
If Elise knew how to use her magic, maybe she'd have a chance, but the queen has made studying magic illegal. When Elise discovers a visiting ambassador is a spy and a secret magician, she blackmails him into giving her magic lessons. Maybe she should feel bad about that, especially when the ambassador falls in love with her. An affair with him risks everything, but Elise is desperate for comfort in the land of the dead. But his love and his help aren't what they seem. He never meant to free her. If Elise is going to escape and save her family, she'll have to do it alone. And she'll destroy Aubrey and the Bone Queen on her way out, or die trying.
The Characters:
Elise Cropper- our main character and POV. 18 years old. She was born a serf, bound to the land of Lord Moorthleigh, near the shores of Lake Langlyn.
Aubrey Sommer, Duke of Winworth- undead fiancé and true asshole. He tricked Elise into loving and freeing him. He deserved neither thing.
Mausart Tola, Earl of Ardaris- the ambassador from Ahheleisa. Late twenties. Hot as far as my ace ass can tell. But he has his secrets.
Queen Idony Allard of Scarlett- the bone queen, the new ruler of Sweelough. This is her second time ruling, but death took the crown from her last time. Never again.
Lord Moorthleigh- Elise's former landlord, who still owns her parents and little brothers.
Lady Moorthleigh- a friend? An enemy? Elise doesn't know.
Worst Comment from a Beta: Why doesn't Elise want to marry Aubrey? He's rich and she should be thrilled with her luxurious prison. Also, she's too mean to the undead maids who are spying on her. What a bitch. (Paraphrased)
Status Check: In rewrites, after about five drafts and a paid developmental editor. 109k words before revisions. I will try to query it when the rewrite is done. Not currently available for beta reading.
It has two complete standalone sequels (The Spellbound King (106k) and The Matriarch's Daughter (96k)) I must also rewrite. This series is going to kill me but I love it. My mom, who loves everything I write, complained that it was weird. I'm very proud.
First chapter here.
Fic snippet here.
Map here.
Please ask if you want to be added to my taglist and specify if it's just for this book or all books.

Writer Q&A Game
Thanks to @clairelsonao3 for tagging me!
1. What motivates you to write?
I'm not exactly sure tbh. It almost feels like a compulsion. There are days where I simply do not feel good in my body if I haven't written anything. Then there are others where I can't bring myself to write because I'm too tired or too distracted from life. Honestly the second I get a clear head and enough time to myself, I'll start writing.
2. A line/short snippet of your writing that you are most proud/happy of. If not maybe share a line of someone else's work you love (just please credit them)
This isn't from my WIP, but from a fanfic I wrote a while ago. I want to try to find a way to incorporate it into something. Not sure where though.
“I know this seems like it’s coming out of nowhere,” he said, “but promise it’s not. I’ve had a long time to think about it.  A few years, actually. I guess, I just didn’t realize how deep I was in it until about five minutes ago.”
She kept silent, but the simple fact she hadn’t told him to get out gave him the confidence to keep going. .
“I meant it when I said I’m crazy about you. I like that you take your sugar with a drop of coffee.  I like how you sing to yourself when you’re happy.  I like that you never seem to get cold.  I like that you never lose your head under fire, but still need me to get rid of spiders. I like that you can laugh at yourself.  I like that you can laugh at me. Hell, I like that you’re perfectly willing to slap my face if the situation calls for it.
I like so many things about you Liz, and that’s just the stuff I found out on accident.  I can only imagine the stuff I’d learn if I started loving you on purpose."
3. Which OC makes you smile every time you think/talk about them and what are they like?
I really do enjoy writing Finn. The boy just makes my smile.
Close second is another OC which I wrote for fanfic who I want to save and put someplace else, Lucy. She's my softest girl who has a lot of love to give. Might figure out a way to put her in this regency setting somewhere, but who knows.
4. What process of writing do you enjoy the most?
The first draft spree. The moment when you get an idea and you have write it down as quickly as possible. It's rough and definitely will need some editing, but that rush cannot be topped. It just feels satisfying to exorcise even the smallest of scenes out of my body.
5. What part of writing do you think you are the best at? (Yes stroke your own ego it's okay)
Dialogue, hands down. It's at least the part I've gotten the most compliments on.
6. What is something in the writeblr community is most enjoyable?
I've only just started to dip my toe in, but I really do love answering asks. I like seeing other writer's process and knowing I'm not alone. It's just fun!
7. A writing tool/device you use that helps you with writing? (It could be speech to text, a writing program etc)
I've been using Scrivener and it's really helped me keep everything organized. I have a very conspiracy board way of drafting, so having all my random snippets in one place really helps.
8. A piece of worldbuilding that you like in your own story? (It could be the magic system, a particular place in the story, a law etc)
Not sure world building is my strong suit for this current WIP. I suppose I'm enjoying expanding the world of the theatre, but I admittedly need to do more research.
9. What piece of advice would you say to encourage others to write if they are having a rough patch?
Write anyway. It doesn't have to be the scene that's giving you trouble. It doesn't even have to be for the piece you're trying to focus on, just don't get out of the habit of writing. Once you lose that momentum, it takes a long time to get it back.
10. Tag some people whose works you love/have been your biggest supporters
Gotta give a shout out to @clairelsonao3 for being so welcoming in my introduction to the writeblr community. And @janec23, for being one of the few specifically romance writers to reach out.
But I really can't begin to thank all the people who have followed me from my fanfic blog over to this one. It really means so much to know people are interested in reading anything I put out there.
@flapjacques, @jo-harrington, @can-of-pringles, @handahbear, @auroramagpie, @justanothersadperson93, @sad-cat-hours, @ghostface001, @theowlwhocameback, @mattmurdocksscars, @roruna, @everything-intertwined, @sweetjedi, @arcanerazil, @vibratingbonesbis, @delirious0pandemonium, @llovelykenobi, @geek-girl7, @mixedupanddown
Know that I love and appreciate you all.
I'm also going to leave this an OPEN tag to anyone who wants to do this, and especially invite everyone who I have tagged above. (and
