Okay okay okay okay okay, so Raphaniel Charlock and Jan De La Vega exist on some sort of spectrum that has mlm->wlw on one axis and something else on the other axis and I can't work out what that something else is but they exist in opposite corners of that graph hissing at each other like feral cats in my mind
HMMMMM okay okay so we’ve got two Old And Bothered Hotties so I feel like maybe the other end of the spectrum is Young and Unruffled
so one axis is age and the other axis is level of stress

Ooooo can you tell us more about the two avvar and the chasined twins on your pirate crew?
Also the Raven's crew would love to sail and raid some ships with your pirates!
Thanks so much for asking, Raven <3 seriously, asks are like free serotonin boosts
It's all very messy since the characters are from an old original story (ofc I've never actually written it 🙃) of mine and I still can't figure out some of their roles (and names!!! I can't just have a chasind warrior named James xjsshhdbc) in this AU so sorry for the ramble lol
I'll start with the Avvar mage - so, technically Aurora isn't Avvar, she was adopted by Osvald, an Avvar mercenary, when she was 12 so she knows their culture very well. "Family is more than blood" - that's what her father and brother would say, they both consider her their family and a full-fledged member of the community. I actually wrote a short bio for her a week ago so I guess it'd be best if I just pasted it here, it sums up her character quite well:
"A sassy church girl turned notorious criminal. Aurora's always been a problem child, forever angry and disappointed with the whole world - growing up in a Catholic Orphanage certainly didn't help. She started stealing at a young age, mainly to spite sister Anita who "decided she was evil in the very moment she crossed the threshold of the orphanage" and "did everything she could to bring her down", as Aurora would say. Years later, when her adoptive father was killed, Aurora and her step brother, Hal teamed up with a group of local criminals led by Aurora's old friend. In Dragon Age AU Aurora grew up in an orphanage run by the Chantry. She was supposed to become a Templar but she's never completed her training - her magical abilities manifested when she killed a man who'd been abusing her best friend, Delphina, for years. She was sentenced to the Rite of Tranquility but she managed to escape the Circle. An Avvar mercenary took her in - she spent the rest of her teenage years in an Avvar settlement where she finally felt at home. After the death of their father, she and Hal joined a group of pirates led by Jan."
Aurora is the group's mage but she only knows a handful of spells - she's never received any formal training and Osvald wanted to keep her abilities secret, she was a wanted apostate after all. He wanted a better, peaceful life for both of his children but none of them wanted the same thing. Osvald used to be quite a famous dragon hunter back when he was younger and Hal, his son, wanted to become one as well. As for Aurora - well, she's always been a magnet for trouble. Osvald died trying to protect her from the Templars, she and Hal managed to escape. They wanted revenge but, obviously, stood no chance against the Order. Aarne and Iivo, the Chasind twins, promised to help them, they've been roaming Thedas looking for allies and trying to stay away from the Templars for as long as they could. That's when they met their future friends and associates - an ex-Orlesian bard named Maria, a Qunari outcast Natzan, his companion from Tevinter Rita and a monk turned pirate. His name is Jan and, somehow, he's Aurora's partner but it's a long story so I'm gonna stop right there before I write a 939933848484838383 word essay :')
As for the twins - they're total opposites but they're extremely loyal to each other, at least Iivo is, Aarn is an ugly backstabber, loyal only to himself but Iivo doesn't know it yet. Aarne is a grumpy, proud and deceitful type of person, Iivo might also be a grump but he has a heart of gold. They're both rather quiet, people often feel intimidated by them. They're very skilled warriors, together they're almost unstoppable. Aarne was trained by Osvald, he even helped him kill a dragon once. Actually, he agreed to help Hal and Aurora out of respect for Osvald, he felt like he owed this to his old mentor. He was also Aurora's close friend and sort of big brother, he taught her a lot, they sparred many times back when Aurora was still a teenager.
Aurora and Hal's relationship is a mess so I'm not going to get into it right now but they used to be very close before their father's death, then hal started blaming her for everything that happened, then she stabbed him in the back and so on. There was too much anger and too many words unsaid, they both went their own ways and never really reunited after that, even though they both regretted it in the end. Jan and natzan tried their best to help them but yeah, no, just sit down and talk it's not that hard 🙃
