As someone who’s followed you for a long time, and a fellow writer….do you genuinely support chatGPT? Even if it has been proven to scrape people’s writings without their consent? And the fact that its a soulless husk of what actual writing is?

So Ive done my best to avoid AI discourse, but I am bad at it. So to put it clearly.

I dont Support chatgpt specifically. Its a program made by a corporation because they can make a profit from it, and curtail its capabilities in line with their goals. I use it sometimes because its fun ans convenient, but I dont pay for it or anything. I think pretty much all legitimate concerns about AI are really just concerns about corporate ethics, at which point the AI specifically becomes irrelevant

I also dont really think the situation in general is one where "support" is the right word to use; its like asking if I support cameras.

I want to be clear im not trying to be vague though; i think in general AI is pretty cool, and that 99% of the arguments against it are factually incorrect, based on inconsistent or bad moral frameworks, or both. Im not going to get into all the reasons AIs are cool, since I dont feel up to doing a Big AI Post, but I do want to gesture vahuely in the direction of how much more accessible this makes artistic creation and experimentation, and all the insanely fun things people can use AI for. However, i do want to address the common arguments against it, especially since it feels like a lot of people are just misinformed and falling into the very easy tumblr trap.

1. Scraping fics without consent: if you post something on a public site for the public to read, and someone downloads it to read it, its not stealing. Tumblr is generally pretty firmly against strict copywrite laws, so its a bit weird that so many people are Very concerned about AIs "stealing" their work in a way thats even less direct than fanfiction. Like, "your writing is so in character" and "wow youre really good at imitating the authors writing style" are common compliments on fics.

To be clear, there are absolutely ways of interacting with free public content thats bad (like reposting). But AIs arent frankensteining stuff together, or copy pasting anything; they literally could not do that. The training/model files are so insanely tiny compared to the amount of training data that it would be impossible for them to be storing that sort of thing. An AI learning from your writing isnt really any different than a human reading your writing, going "oh I like that" subconsciously, and using that to inform their future writing.

Whats that quote about "to get better at writing, read more"? If you believe that statememt is accurate, then Im a bit confused how youd be upset about an AI "reading" your writing and learning from it?

All of the Actual ways this could be used badly (copying someones art style and then selling art cheaper, etc.) arent actually unique to AI (a person can also do that!), and also usually arent really a thing thats happening enough to be a problem (most people who want art from an artist enough to commission them, are going to want it to actually be done By that artist). Using AI to make an original work, or even to finish a fanfic someone else wrote, is no more theft than if you did it by yourself.

2. "Soulless Husk": im sorry im genuinely trying my best here to be gentle and respectful, but this talking point genuinely makes my blood boil a bit, so im not trying to get personal or insult anyone specifically. Claiming that art made by humans is automatically deeper, that art is all about Meaning and Struggle, comes off as extremely pretentious and just doesnt engage with the reality of art. Im having trouble articulating a good argument here, but like. Art doesnt have to be deep, it doesnt have to have a Message, and the necessity of struggling in order to learn about and create art is an unequivocable bad thing.

Many many people make art (visual, written, etc.) becuase they want to see or read something cool or because they think others will find it fun. Many many people who would like to create art do not do so because it requires talent/practice that they are not willing to put the time and effort into developing, and this is not a moral issue. As Ive said before, laziness is a virtue and self-indulgance is a goal we should aspire to. Using a tool to make the incredibly fun act of creating easier and more accessible is awesome.

Also, who gets to define what "actual art" is? Genuinely seems a bit arrogant and presumptuous to declare that something is or is not "actual art" based on your own preferences.

The posts that Really annoy me are the ones that are like "cant understand the people RPing or playing a TTRPG with AI becuz its soulless. I only ever RP with other people because the fun part is being social or collaberatively building story" or whatever. Cool. I rp and play tabletops because i like to have fun and I enjoy those activities. Im gonna be honest, i find it a bit offensive and kinda.. dumb, to act like its somehow morally superior to only enjoy oneself in a way that Builds Community or Has A Meaning. People do meaningless things because they enjoy doing them and so long as no one is being hurt, thats fine.

3. Replacing workers: This is the only argument that has Any weight, but its still a bad argument. Its absolutrly true that AI is gonna put people out of work. The fact that more people will be out of work and struggling is a bad thing. This is also what happens when literally any new technology is developed, dating all the way back to the industrial revolution (at the Very latest). Automation is almost always a massive net benefit to humanity (im aware this topic could be its own series of posts but You Know What I Mean, please dont start industrialization discourse here), and the fact that it puts people out of work isnt actually an argument against it. Lots of radio operators lost their job when telephones were invented, but that doesnt mean people should have never used the telephone and obstinately stuck with radios. When phone technology advanced, a lot of phone operators lost their jobs, but that doesnt mean people were Morally Wrong to use the new developments that made phones far more convenient.

As in all things, el problema es capitalismo; AI isnt preventing anyone from doing art, its just reducing how many people can get paid to do their art. The correct solution to automation putting people out of work is not to stop the wheel of tech development, but to change society so that one doesnt have to slave away in order to survive.

This also raises the adjacent point, which is that halting tech development like this is impossible. Once the cat is out of the bag, its not going back in. AI tech is going to develop and become more widespread and theres literally nothing you can do to stop that. If you want to be upset about that, its your perogative ig, but im gonna be excitedly waiting for the dam to break and we get an open source LLM that I can use without worrying about data privacy or corporate filters, so I can have fun and RP however much I want and finally be able to write the stuff I want to write but cant do on my own because I have adhd and chronic fatigue, and Id kinda prefer if people stopped trying to rain on my parade because they think im not having fun or creating art in the "right way".

EDIT: I did want to add one more thing! A US court ruled that you cant copywrite something created completely by an AI, and i think thats an awesome move and I hope it gets expanded a bit and spreads elsewhere. This isnt a position based on whether something produced in this way counts as "real art" or is morally bad or whatever, I just think that reducing corporate and IP grasp on anything is good, and that AI specifically is going to be most enjoyable when its free and open source.

Elias's smile doesn't reach his eyes and they are cold. The way he looks at Jon is predatory and calculating.

Ough thank you!! i at some point planned on writing parts of it but im a slow writer and my interests jumps between aus so quickly ;;

lemme give a quick little idea of what happens since i dont remember how much ive said or if ill do more art for it in the future,,,

basically Elias meets Jon and gains his trust by approaching him in an academic way. Jon is curious about humans, so despite all his warnings about them he humors Elias and they share information about their species. eventually Elias convinces Jon to return with him to london after telling Jon all about how amazing human cities are. he also convinces Jon to let Elias safeguard his coat (he acts like many humans will be interested in stealing it and only Elias will be able to protect it). Jon is simultaneously extremely interested in london and also completely overwhelmed by all the sounds and people. he lives with Elias and is pampered by him, taught to read (he learns he loves books), given clothes (which he hates), and treated to good food (hes mixed on this). Jon does start to fall for Elias and willingly starts a relationship with him but eventually he decides he misses the ocean and wants to go home but yeah ~surprise~ Elias was never going to give Jon his coat back. he had just hoped Jon would like living with Elias enough that he would choose to stay of his own free will. Elias forces Jon to marry him all while promising that he'll adjust to this life eventually.

Jon is obviously enraged by this and tries everything he can to escape at first. this part of the au is the least fleshed out but suffice to say Jon is rather miserable and depressed. he spends a lot of his time in their library and finds a book that talks about the ocean and has photographs in it which he looks at for comfort. Elias does bring him for a trip to see the ocean but its not where hes from and he doesnt allow Jon his coat to transform so its bittersweet.

(a good amount time passes between these two points and theres a good amount of up and down in their relationship. elias lovebombs jon a lot and tries to make him happy but is not willing to let go of his control over jon's life. jon kind of accepts that he wont be free and tries to make the best of his situation but hes still pretty homesick and depressed)

Elias gets frustrated that Jon can't just be happy with what he has (he had rather grandiose and unrealistic expectations for their marriage) and vents to Peter about it. He's more under the delusion that they're just having a marital spat and Jon will come around eventually but Peter tells him that selkies will never be tame and Jon will fight him till one of them dies. Elias wants to prove to Peter that Jon does love him so he brings him back to where he found him and gives him his coat back, sure that Jon will choose to stay with him buuuut. he runs

in the fic there was going to be a timeskip of about a year (maybe even ending there and then having a sequel) here where Jon eventually returns to where he met Elias and finds a package elias left him with their rings, some letters, and a couple of Jon's favorite books. he realizes that he misses his old life.. at least part of it. the sea is freedom but its also very lonely. he doesnt actually think he'll ever see Elias again but he comes back on the year anniversary of Jon leaving to reminisce and leave the rest of Jon's things as a symbol of moving on. I was going to have them work on things and have Jon come back to the relationship on his own terms with his own rules

is Elias actually changed in the end? honestly im not sure I didnt think that far. It definitely could go the way of being a cycle of abuse and i think he'd have to work quite hard to break his negative behavior. though tbf the Elias in this au isn't Jonah magnus (meaning he isn't a regency body-hopper not that he is OG Elias). this whole summary is only talking about the relationship A plot which was going to coincide with some Lovecraftian inspired occult mystery stuff : D (which isnt fleshed out at all other than i wanted those vibes)

hello! i came across your wips button and i wonder if youll ever go do them? the transformers ones sound super good!!

That.... is an excellent question and one I'm not super equipped to answer! The boring downer angle is that I've been horribly, immovably blocked on art and writing for a long while now, and it drives me nuts trying to shake that AND i rarely have any luck. I know i can write pretty darn well, and I can do it FAST, there was a hot minute where i successfully held myself to uploading at least one piece of art or writing per day. That pace was never going to last, my art got better and my fics got longer, plus i went from languishing in the falling action of grad school to having an actual job, which was both a less flexible schedule and also more money to explore other hobbies. But that period of my life really drove home how important that rhythm and periodicity is to me, and i haven't been able to recapture that in years.

As it is right now, if i manage to finish anything, it's only going to happen with either a fandom at the VERY very forefront of my mind (svsss or the raksura core au right now), or with an idea too fresh and good and crunchy to resist, independent of fandom (there's a dungeon meshi idea lightly haunting me). Transformers is a remarkably good playground, I love it SO much, but it's been years since I reread any significant part of it, so the ideas aren't flowing. I trust my old ideas, but if the canon isn't fresh, or I'm not actively talking about it, the spark is unlikely to catch. There's an off-chance of me reacting to an idea in some other fic via a medium of transformers smut, but I'm also struggling to read right now too 🥲

But! But!!!! A thing ive noticed and that drives me bananas is that when i move, the shape of my hobbies changes. I vibed really well with writing in NJ and MA, and COMPLETELY lost the ball when i relocated to VA. I cross-stitched in NJ, faded in MA, and lost it in VA. I bookbound like nuts in VA, but i just did a local move, and I'm no longer getting the reaction of 'I'm idle, I should make a book.' I don't know where things will go, first was a rush to unpack my boxes, then was a rush to learn to paint a room, and now my home is full of jumbled furniture and objects and I'm so overwhelmed that all I want to do is lie in bed and level grind in video james.

Teal deer, i can't tell what hobby is going to take center stage now, and it's driving me nuts. But it could be writing! I'm much more confident about my writing than lots of other creative endeavors. I also want to revisit canon for a lot of old fandoms. I think the wip list predates my cnovel phase, but i have two beefy svsss wips, and at least two short ones, and two aus I'd love to flesh out. I have raksura core writing. I have a tf bookbinding project that's been languishing for. 1.5 years. But if i can find my momentum, I'll be diving back into canon. And i really think 5-10k of hard weird emotional smut really is my wheelhouse. I wish so hard i could recapture that energy! This is a response much longer than it needed to be, but just imagine me as the WHY ARE YOU CLOSED meme at my own brain, and much more confused and frustrated than anyone else that I don't write anymore 🤣

tumblr can be hard to use, and theres not really "big accounts". everyone is just roaming and doing their own thing. there can be a learning curve, and thats ok! its hard to discover new blogs here, but after a while you can get a hang on it and its a lot less toxic than other social medias imo!!!! its very easy to curate what you want to see.

character design plays a big role. a lot of what I've learned is from reflecting on why I like certain characters and watching videos from Brookes Eggleston - Character Design Forge (i will ALWAYS recommend him hehehe)

I usually go about designing characters that are fairly easy for me to draw over and over. if i get stressed out drawing this oc simply standing, i wont enjoy drawing them in other stuff. I also like to give myself little "treats" while drawing. for example: for Cherie, i really like drawing her chubby face, heart blush, and big cute eyes. for Selena, ive been having so much fun drawing her hair and playing with gravity with it (like when the wind blows her front hair sways hehe).

I also make sure their personalities are enjoyable to read as much as possible. for amazo, he's a goofy hero who tries his absolute best to be the hero the city needs him to be and the partner Steven needs him to be but there's always an internal struggle between balancing the two and he's so critical of himself when he can't do it all. this tells the reader that he's got a very strict moral compass and he's very selfless but knows how to liven the mood and is very creative in how he entertains others and himself. I made Selena for the "Amazo-era" because his pursuit of control and her pursuit of chaos and goofs compliment each other perfectly storytelling-wise.

also I try to limit what i describe so bluntly bc its so much more fun to learn about a character through storytelling like comics, fics, etc. because the reader gets the chance to understand this character like unfolding a mystery and it's very enjoyable. im sure if she-ra released a bunch of infodumping character sheets before we saw the show, we probably wouldn't have cared bc we wouldn't have gotten to understand her complex character through the relationships and struggles she forms and faces in the show. humans like putting together pieces! we are a species that likes solving puzzles a LOT. i have an amazing friend that i infodump to and i love them so much <3 that way the readers can discover the characters themselves but u can still give into the infodumping urge LOL

funny enough drawing your oc in a bunch of different situations will make u a better artist sometimes even unknowingly xD if u look at my art before and after i started drawing amazo like everyday, you'd see MAJOR improvement xD i had no idea that was happening bc i was just goofin' and drawing whatever but it really helped!

i hope these tips help <3 ocs are so fun to draw and write!

Hi!! Thank you for reaching out! And yeah, I feel like some ppl just like to send anon hate cause they’re bored? Like what is the end game here? You’re not gonna be the person with the last laugh cause your ask is either gonna be deleted or responded to in a post. And like, if you think there’s other writers who post the same type of fics, then why don’t you just focus on them? People need to realize that writing fics and drawing art is a skill, and that the creator puts in a lot of time and effort into perfecting it for the audience. I just don’t get why some ppl act mean online, when they don’t have that same persona irl?? Like why act like an internet thug??

Yes, I was also intrigued when I saw how op was working on a ShouheixYata fic! Like I know some bits and pieces of how they’d interact as friends, but as romantic partners? I’ve seen some EricxYata and and ChitosexYata, but never a ShouheixYata. I’m sooo curious cause Yata is terribly shy when it comes to romance, while Shouhei is charismatic and nicer than the other abc boys. Like is Shouhei going to be all flirty and try to charm him?? Does Yata develop a crush on Shouhei which he tries to hide but miserably fails at it??

And I do!! So to start off, I’ll be honest and say that I’m not really fond of romantic!banshou. Its weird cause i have other ships with similar dynamics, and i also adore both characters individually, but im not the biggest fan of them as a ship. I think its probably bc i dont like how its portrayed by the very few fans they have, and how a lot of things about shouhei, end up revolving around bandou’s inferiority complex towards him (which really sucks as a shouhei’s girl who wants to learn more about him).

But despite being in my y/n feels for shouhei, i do have a few ships for him! I don’t think it’s as obvious as it was when i first created this blog, but shouhei/eric is the closest to an otp i have for this fandom. Its probably bc theyre my top two faves, but i do think they have strong potential to be a sweet and interesting ship, and the few interactions they have are so cute 🥺 the fact that shouhei is the only person Eric refers to by their first name other than Anna 🥹🥹 (although i do think its probably cause everyone refers to shouhei by his first name lol. If im not wrong, i think eric refers to fuji by his last name despite being very close). I also do think they’d look really good together! Despite Eric being unkempt and not into fashion, he is objectively very good looking and i think his sharp and cool features are a good contrast against shouhei’s softer and warm features. I genuinely do think shouhei is the second person eric is comfortable with, after fujishima. I also ship shouhei with chitose and akiyama! I think i started shipping shouhei with chitose sometime last year and honestly? I think they’d be a fun and hot pair. I can’t really see them being them in a serious and committed relationship, but i do think they would probably hook up here and there (or even just be really good friends, since theyre pretty similar to each other except for some differences). Akiyama/Shouhei is always going to be that one opposites attract/enemies to lovers ship for me lol. I wish their fight scenes from s1 were longer, im so curious on what the dialogue would have been like.

Yata was my first ever fave character/crush when i first got into K back in 2012, but unfortunately that died out. But i do think ericxyata is such a cute and funny pair! I remember reading this really old fic on them in which yata learns english just so he can finally respond to eric’s taunts, only to have the story end with eric kissing him on the cheek 💞 i don’t remember being sold that quick on a ship like i did with that fic lmaoo. They’re like my second favorite pair, but theres sooooo little content on them :/ thats what i hate about k. Most content are on the popular/designated ships, you barely see anything on different pairings/dynamics. Yata and Kamamoto are seen as platonic for the most part, but i can see some potential for it to turn romantic! Kamamoto is a ride and die for yata. Like if theres ever a rare chance that yata decides to leave homra (unlikely, i know), i do feel like kamamoto would probably join him idk. the loyalty there is really strong. I think yata and chitose would be interesting since chitose is a playboy while yata is a virgin, but its probably gonna end with a nasty heartbreak on both sides 😬

I don't know if this has been asked before but what's your hc on how Giann and Marius interact? would they bicker a lot or does giann being 10 years older change things?

hi anon!! i never really wrote a specific hc posts about how i think giann and marius interact, cuz ive written several fics where i Do Make Them Interact in scenes themselves HAHA

so i'll just take the time here to do some shameless self fic recs (with further detailing on what abt the interactions specifically are seen)

standard operating procedure (x4 speedrun) | aka the fic where giann returns and finds out marius is dating the nxx5 in a polycule situation

T rated | nxx5 polycule + giann & marius feels | complete fic | 17k words total

while this fic involves the entire nxx5 interacting with giann, the entire thing does delve deep into how giann sees, acts, and recalibrates his relationship with marius given all the changes that have happened.

the 1st, 4th, and 5th chapter have scenes in particular where giann and marius directly interact but as a brief (VERY brief. this fic is 17k for a reason, so i cant bullet point it all JHVKSJHF) summary on those interactions:

despite the 10 year age difference, i absolutely think theyre close as hell, both in the past and in the present of the fic that i ended up writing out.

i also say a huge Yes to bickering, because thats the casual way the ended being accustomed to communicating but that that can be a drawback sometimes. it's the whole "ack, sincerity and vulnerability with my sibling is WEIRD even if we're close, because UGH we're supposed to be cool and calm all the time"

and on a related vein, yes as well to like, how both of them Do talk to each other, but a lot of the time, not much is being Truly Said. i think marius had to have learned the art of putting up a mask from somewhere, and so both giann and marius (especially when distressed) end up brushing off their own problems so that the other wont worry

how to care for your dear friend who is currently stuck in his magical serpent form | aka the fic where the von hagens are secretly magic dragons and marius is stuck as a serpent noodle

T rated | no ship + nxx found fam + marius & giann & austin feels | incomplete fic | 15k words currently

once again, while this fic is a little more geared towards exploring the team's dynamic with marius and each other, since the whole magic dragon thing is a Von Hagen thing, the fic does tackle marius' relationship with his family. as opposed to the last fic where it's from giann's pov, this one is from marius'. the fic has a few bits of marius and giann directly interacting in the 1st chapter, and the super tiny quick bites from that is

it's in this fic that i doubled down on how giann is very protective over marius. we are told this in canon, so this isnt much of an hc but still, i rlly like this about giann.

aside from the usual things we think abt when we hear the word "protective" (like hover-y, worry, ready to go fuck ppl up if u hurt the person being protected etc etc), i also think in general that giann was like, the closer Adult Figure marius had and the one he trusted a bit more or found it easier to trust

gay bug angst rambling

TW for the usual things involving Tiso/Quirrel and angst: injuries, su1c1d3, s3lf h@rm themes, tr@vm@, all of those sorta themes, be safe this is under the readmore

also what i say in here is not meant to be offensive or encourage anything listed in the triggers. I was just thinking angst thoughts and i though about these two gay bugs

tisoquirrel angst is good but i want to see more unique angst of them other than Quirrel at the blue lake or Tiso getting hurt in the Colosseum. Give me injured pill bug with funny little himbo ant. Reverse the caretaker roles i want to see Tiso deal with taking care of a random ass pill bug. Also the fact the pill bugs turn bright fucking blue when they get sick is such a good opportunity. like what if it was just Tiso: Quirrel you look like the fucking blue lake Quirrel: oh shit Tiso im fucking dying

that would be funny and also good for hurting everyone. Or what about instead of hurting Quirrel we get more Tiso emotional angst? Most of the angst/hurt comfort fics/art i have seen focus on Tiso with physical injuries but what about his e m o t i o n a l d a m a g e ? Cant tell me this ant got no complex emotions needing processing all the fucking bugs lived through a plague brought on by god and he fucking almost(did in cannon) die. That should be plenty enough to fuck him up nice enough to provide plenty emotional pain for us to consume.

Quirrel also more angst other than just "Oh boy i killed monomon my life has no purpose anymore into the lake i go weeeee" we dont know too much about Quirrel's past other than he was Monomon's assistant and worked in the archives and sealing the dreamers. We have basically no clue what could have happened when he left hallownest. What about after the blue lake incident? That gives plenty of opportunities. Blue lake in itself can be so much deeper than we write it as. A lot of things ive read about Quirrel at blue lake have been kinda dry (not to be mean btw, im just ranbling here at 6 am-) i require mentally ill pill bug. There is plenty of ways to portray mental illness without breaking character. I want to see this man take a fucking deep dive into depression or something like that. Just hit him with a fucking train. Also if he attempted to become a rock at blue lake and failed that could be traumatizing. Even if he did not follow through with the attempt the knowledge that he was going to and that he had planned it out could be pretty terrifying for Quirrel.

How could these interact? hehehhee i have prompts if anyone would like them otherwise just think about all the angst :DDDD

Tiso sees Quirrel doing the harming of himself (either as a way to punish himself for something or as a way to ground himself or some other way idk man i just make angst ideas-) and panics before going to try and comfort Quirrel for extra hurt Tiso gets triggered and has a panic attack after it and Quirrel feels awful while comforting Tiso. both are mentally ill your honor.

Tiso snapping at a minor inconvenience and Quirrel comforting him until he eventually cries himself to sleep. Quirrel could ask him about it or he could just be there for him as a form of comfort.

Quirrel getting triggered and having a panic attack after falling into a large body of water soon after his attempt or backing out of it while Tiso has to try and keep Quirrel grounded and let him know he is safe,

Tiso has flashbacks/nightmares of the coliseum and Quirrel learns about it by noticing Tiso not sleeping or he falls asleep on him and has a nightmare.

You know what, I'm not ashamed of my history crush and if you're still alive, I'd like to hear your opinions on Baldwin IV and a fierce, sarcastic lover--who might or not be the future Queen😏-- and how he would react to her actually being a smartass when it came to politicals. Like, she knows medicine, philosphy and maybe music?

Hi! So, first of all: Yes, I'm still alive. And yes, I'm aware there are about a dozen unanswered asks / headcanon things currently sitting in my drafts. To those of you who sent them - I'm terribly sorry I'm so slow with my answers at the moment, but I promise I'll get to them all as soon as I can. <3

Secondly: Never be ashamed of your history crushes! Many great works of literature are essentially fan fiction. Many great works of art are fan art. Having crushes - whether fictional, historical, contemporary, what have you - is human. Don't feel bad if you do have them, and also don't feel bad if you don't.

Now, on to your question. Would Baldwin get along with a fierce, sarcastic, and politically savvy lover? Long story short: I'd say it depends.

Let's see: Baldwin grew up with a mother who was very involved in politics (especially when her son ascended the throne) - which wasn't a terribly uncommon thing among the noblewomen of Outremer, so quite a few of our KoH boys likely learned to chug their respect-women juice very early on. But - again, depending on what take on her you follow (Will of Tyre, for instance, tends to be rather hostile to the Courtenay party) - Agnes' nose for politics didn't make her the easiest person to get along with, and adding to that, she was probably bitter as hell about being discarded by Amalric on account of consanguinity when he became king.

Thus, I imagine Baldwin would definitely not underestimate a woman who knows her way around court intrigues and the politics of the Latin kingdoms. Yet, I also think he would probably be wary of such a person, at least initially. If I were to introduce such a character as a potential love interest for Baldwin, I wouldn't write their falling for each other as a case of love at first sight. Time, however, does fix many things, eh? ;D

So, I can imagine Baldwin with a fierce lover, but I do think too much sarcasm and overt feistiness would rather be a turn-off for him. I realise I might be in the minority with that opinion, but I think there is a limit to the sass Baldwin could endure in a partner. A little every now and then - yes, absolutely. But constant, supposedly witty banter and bickering - I think that would rather wear him down. A snarky OC would, in the long run, probably have a better shot with either Imad or Raymond or possibly Godfrey. I don't see Baldwin - who is, generally, of a calm, wise, and rather gentle disposition - deriving much pleasure from the company of someone who constantly verbally challenges him.

Would he like an intelligent partner? Absolutely. But I think he'd rather be into someone who is quiet and humble about their assets, than into someone who flaunts them and feels the need to throw into everyone's faces how oh-so-smart and witty and different they are. I'm sorry - I know many people like this sort of character, but I'm usually not a fan.

I know lots of fics interpret it differently and everybody is of course welcome to their own take on the character - running a blog on this hellsite does not make me an authority on the subject by any means. But the way I see it, Baldwin would have the best chemistry with someone alike to him in temperament. Someone calm or even a little shy, initially; clever and occasionally witty, yes, but not too forward or brash. The king values his peace, after all - and someone calm and well-mannered would likely be a better fit for a ruler in a position as precarious as Baldwin's than someone who constantly stirs up trouble in one way or another, no matter how endearing they are.

Ergo: The success of such a dynamic would mainly depend on how you'd construct Baldwin's fierce, sarcastic lover as a character. If you carefully think their interactions through and give them some time to adjust to each other, I could definitely see their relationship bloom into something very lovely, but I wouldn't say that it is a match made in heaven, per se. So my advice would be: Don't overdo it with the sass. That might become tiring for both Baldwin and the reader rather quickly.

In any case, best of luck to you! I hope this was helpful in some way :)

fic update! woo

(no this is not an alert letting u guys know that ive updated a chapter)

omg no way fic update!! (the original ourpose for this acc)

Okay, anyways, official update to my fic! (Now going to be a part of the two-parter or maybe even a trilogy, not quite sure on that last bit)

Change one: Since I wanna take the second part more seriously, the fic’s name is taken more seriously. Chronically offline x Chronically online is now “A Start Too Good to be True…,” which will eventually match with the second part, “…Always Ends in One’s Demise.”

The fic is currently on a hiatus, but i do have some news!

I have finally planned out the rest of part one. Chapters 20-35 are all planned out, with (i hope) more ties between them. There will be more Sam and Bo chapters, one Allan and Bo chapter, plenty of Bo and Lance, and even more lovely surprises!

Chapter 20 is being written rn, and its slow progress.

Mixed with schoolwork and some personal projects (learning code, practicing art, and eventually getting back to working on plushie lance), the progress towards writing the chapters will be slow. BUT, fear not, as I’m going to assume the hiatus will be over sometime late Februrary or March, HOPEFULLY. There are no promises.

As for part two, id like to mark out more of what you guys can expect:

More serious content. I really want part one and par two to contrast. I originally started the fic out as a joke, not expecting it to go anywhere except for dumb mischaracterizatiosn of not only the vanilla and modded sdv NPCs, but also of my own OCs. With part two, I’d like to focus more on what makes the characters characters, which is emotions and reactivity to their environment. I’ve hinted multiple times at Bo’s failing mental health and his and Allan’s deteriorating and toxic relationship in part one, but I’ve never fully fleshed it out. I want my readers, who I do appreciate, to learn the motives behind their behaviors and actions without having to come to my tumblr blog in order to learn more background.

On top of that, I want to expand upon the actual background and relationship Bo and Amelia had. I don’t think I fully emphasized how much Amelia meant to Bo, or how much impact Amelia had on the people around her. It’s mentioned that she’s a well renound adventurer, and that’s why people recognize her name and show appreciation to those she held dear, but I never allowed the readers to see the connections she had with her guildmates (Marlon, Gil, Magnus, Camilla, and others).

There were things I never mentioned about Bo in part one that i’d like to reference in part two. For instance, and this won’t really bring any spoilers, more about his ‘experimental/medical’ work on monsters, and his use for so many disguises (I’ve mentioned it in a past post about how Bo had a shitload of disguises, but never expanded on why.)

More content with ‘extras’! I mention a lot of the townsfolk in my fic, such as Sophia or Olivia, but I don’t really give them a part. With how the fic is looking, there will be a LOT more content based around Bo’s interactions with the other townsfolk in part 2.

More content with Sam and Lance. There’s a lot of spoilers behind this one, but expect more content between these two!

More content with the Castle Village adventurers/guild members in general. Especially Camilla. Camilla will play such an integral role in this, and I’d also like to build more on her and Amelia’s relationship. There will be some building on Camilla and Bo’s relationship, even though it’s small and based on hatred, there’s going to be a LOT of explaining on how Bo feels about Camilla specifically.

Lessening the cast. This also gives off spoilers, but a lot of the characters you saw in part one will not have such a huge role in part two.

More serious topics on mental health, including things such as suicide, self-isolation, loneliness, and even minor topics of addiciton and self harm.

More appearances from Sponge and Hotdog, Bo’s dogs, should any of you miss them.

Realistic relationship building. Now, I have no experience in romantic relationships, due to never being in one (by choice and probably due to being horribly socially inept), but I want to try to make the gradual make up of a relationship more realistic in this part. I feel like I could’ve done a MILLION times better in part one, should I have known what I was getting myself into.

I want you guys to look forward to a change in writing style, or some sort of change. I know it’ll be subtle, but I want to stray away from frequent 4th wall breaks, and focus more on them being in the form of a character’s thought process.

bo’s crippling mommy issues

a more in-depth look into bo’s family and friends, with mentions of the little he remembers about his mom and aunts, along with his cousins. I also want there to be more references to the past friendships he’s had from places like Northmill and Evotte, but I’ll see how that goes.

more sam and bo, too

NONE OF THESE CHANGES ARE FINAL! I’m not sure how the fic will go, but I want to have you guys look forwards to these more.

One again, part two might not be end! There could be a part three, but i wouldn’t hang onto that. I might cut it off at part 2 and continue making lance/other character one shots.

I wouldn’t hope for any smut in part two, but i also wouldn’t totally rule out the idea. me, personally, i love hate sex. but i love relationship dynamics that make sense more.

As for how this account is going to be utilized, expect more or less the same content, EXCEPT ILL UPDATE YALL ON WHEN I UPDATE THE FIC, TOO! should life pan out the way i want it to, the update alert might even be paired with a little drawing to go with it, Idk! we’ll see!

Yeah, I'm fairly open about it with my closest friends (who do like to clown on me for being a genshin impact fan and an anime boy enjoyer etc etc (all in good fun tho)) though I wouldn't tell them the name of my blog. My boyfriend knows of course, he often gets early admission to ideas and brainrots and drafts and access to the fics I'd never post online :3

💖 What made you start writing?

Not a point of bragging but I've always had a bit of a knack for writing, so as I began to fall behind in other subjects I kind of threw myself more into writing - a lot of it came about for coping reasons, just me seeking to make things that could comfort me when I was feeling down, ways to get certain ideas to stop rolling around in my head so much, or even ways to help me process things I was going through at big times in my life (even if I didn't realise it at the time - there are some fics I go back and read and realise ive unintentionally been mirroring real life things that were happening to me during that time).

I also am just a sort of. creative person in general, I do a lot of visual art but I find it takes a lot of spoons and mental energy that I just don't always have - I've been slowly learning to take more pride in my writing and the way it has improved over the years - sometimes I struggle to see my own writing as a 'valid' piece of art because I just... I find it almost... easy, if that makes sense? It takes less spoons and often feels like less thought so my brain kind of goes "ah yes I'm somehow cheating at this" and refuses to see it as a Real Piece of Media I Created. But I've been getting better!! So yeah I think I've always been a bit of a writer but I only really started getting into it around high school, and I only started posting it online super recently (this blog is the first time ive ever shared my writing with a wider audience!)

Honestly? There's genuinely not much i won't write. If I can find a way to spin it that'll get the brain juice flowing, I'm set. There are certain things I'd write that I'd never post, but that's a different kettle of fish entirely (thats such a strange phrase to me jkahsfd)

🤩 Who is your favorite character to write?

Childe and Itto are SO Fun to write, Childe for his general unhinged-ness, and Itto for his dialogue and himbo tendencies !! I'm enjoying writing Diavolo from om! for the same reasons honestly.

🎉 What leads you to consider a fic a success?

I like to clown to my bf about the notes and numbers and the like, like I'll say things like "oh damn tumblr is thirsty for diluc and not itto, how sad" but honestly numbers aren't something that phase me much - i think there are a few different aspects in which I feel like a fic of mine can be successful

The writing process - If i had fun writing it, thinking about it, and/or feel better/lighter for having written it, then it's a success in that aspect

Feedback - i try not to let too much hinge on this since it's such a finicky aspect but like. If i get positive feedback and comments on a piece, rest assured I've read every one about three times over. It makes me so happy to see others engage in my content, and to have people say things like "i needed this today" or "this made me smile" means more than any of you will ever ever know - writing is a source of comfort to me, and the fact that i'm able to share it and bring comfort to others as well is just. it makes me so so happy.

⌛ How long does it take you to write a fic, or a chapter?

Really depends on the inspiration level and how I'm rotating the ideas around in my brain - some pieces I can get the idea, then have it started and finished within one sitting, others I need some time to kind of sit on before a scenario comes to me. If it's something I'm particularly inspired for I can reach well over 1k words an hour. I don't really edit or proofread the pieces I post either, I just hit send and hope for the best (I've definitely come back to a piece weeks later to realise there's been a typo in it the whole time, oops)
