Thinking about how Diavolo’s feelings transcend time and how in the Nightbringer UR+ card Demon Lord’s Castle Tour this conversation happens.

When asked, “Do you wish to see your father?”

Diavolo responds:

“I suppose I do . . .” isn’t the typical reaction to how a child would feel about wanting to see their parent. Especially when said parent has essentially been in a coma for a year.

Along with how Diavolo describe his father.

It makes more sense why when you learn in Lesson 56 how Diavolo was treated by him growing up.

Diavolo can tell when others are lying but is unable to understand his father’s intentions.

Diavolo mentions that he lived a very sheltered life growing up. That from a young age his father never allowed him a chance to talk to anyone outside the castle.

His childhood friend was Mephistopheles. A demon literally RAISED to be his friend. Putting a barrier between the two because Mephistopheles would put Diavolo on a pedestal.

The isolating childhood he experienced riddled with his strict father constantly scolding him.

Despite everything MC is so important to him he wants to see his father again so we can meet.

#Demons and Humans can’t get married even in the present so it adds an extra layer him wanting to introduce us.#There’s a lot more you could add onto this (please do I’d love to hear other’s thoughts).#Like how Diavolo’s childhood affected him just look at the way he describes himself:#“The truth is I am a child in a way. A child who spends his time alone and never gets to do anything interesting.”#A lot of Diavolo’s poor behavior while not excused comes from his childhood.#How Diavolo admits to using his position to force others to do what he wants. Me busting into Elder Predator’s chambers to chew his ass out after he ignored my gauntlet call six times in a row (he was taking a much needed old man nap)

It’s the way that Buck’s view on Tommy was so so so similar to Buck’s initial view of Eddie. Man doesn’t know how to deal with his attraction so he runs in the opposite direction and “hates” them (but can’t stop talking about them) until things finally blow up (injured Eddie —> kiss Tommy) or don’t (you can have my back any day)

wow I didn’t think reblogging that tea post and then seeing people’s tags would deal me such strong psychic damage. come over I can fix you I can find a tea you will like. “I don’t like tea” how can you say that as a blanket statement when there are so many vastly different kinds of tea. head in hands

seriously starting to get annoyed by people equating sad and tragic endings with meaningfulness. happy and/or hopeful endings don’t mean less. they’re not silly or less impactful. i'm just really tired of people telling me that the tragic ending is more romantic or beautiful or interesting or that the main character needs to "learn" something from the loss of a loved one.

#this is a constant state #and also an old debate i know #yes this is about jatp #it’s totally fine to prefer the boys crossing over as an ending #(it’s the internt. people are allowed to be wrong 😉)#but what i'm seeing again and again and again is people claiming that the boys crossing over is the objectively better ending #no. it’s just your preference #claiming that the point of the show was for julie to deal with even more loss in her life by also losing the boys #is just YOUR interpretation of the text #and i would argue that that’s true because the themes of coming back to life and deserving second chances are woven into the narrative #it also feels quite insulting tbh because julie DESERVES to be happy. her journey isn’t about grief but about finding her way out of it #so why should she keep suffering?#i have more thoughts about this but i can’t really articulate them right now #it’s just… this prevalence of 'tragedy is good and meaningful actually' gets tiring #*txt

The brainrot has finally won I’m talking about the journalist now-

Because like… Bugsnax has so many interesting characters and it’s so weird to say they’re my favorite but I’m just so impressed by the way they were characterized-

They’re just??? I’m forever gonna be in love with how the devs nailed that line between “character that represents you” and “character with a distinct personality and goal” because that’s so hard to do correctly and they nailed it.

They’re a blank slate at their core. A character to project on. Nameless, voiceless, faceless… you can turn them into whatever you want (both in and outside game) and chances are it’ll fit perfectly into the rest of the puzzle that is “canon.” You get a few guidelines and nothing else because the bottom line is that they’re the player. There’s a whole tag related to ocs of this sort and each one is beautifully unique.

And yet they’re still the journalist. The fandom recognizes them as their own character with their own relationships. They’re sarcastic and dorky when they do speak. They’ve got opinions and goals and so much personality that shows through the little things.

They’re kind of a pushover. Impulsive. A foil to Filbo and a parallel to Lizbert. They doodle in their journal and believe in cryptids. They’re ridiculously tough and can survive jumping off the side of a mountain and being set on fire for half a minute. They’re a character just like the rest of the town, even with that blank slate core.

I could write an entire essay about this creature. I just love it. It’s a huge relief for people like me who struggle with having multiple sonas cause it lets me relate to a pre-established character without mischaracterizing them entirely. It’s a window of connection that lets people get sucked in while also keeping a distance if they want to. All of my favorite games manage to do this sort of thing and god damn I wanna play more that do.

Constantly thinking about how WWX thinks about JC how he thinks JFM thought about YZY but mostly as how he denied and yet carelessly commented JFM thinks (disregards) about JC

It is so, so, so fucked up and one of the reasons why chengxian is so doomed by the narrative bc no matter what JC does or says, WWX already "knows" what is about. Bc JC is his shidi and WWX knows best. And still, pre masacre, pre core exchange, it could have work. It could have, because they love each other so much but JC lost his core. WWX thinks he chose his parents. He thinks Jc choose the dead bodies of his parents, a filial duty, over survival, over him. And he never forgave Jc for it.

Bc now is WWX turn to assume the consequences of his shidi actions, now it is his turn to bear the pain for him. And he does not do it with reluctance, he does not, he does it bc he loves Jc so so much, but still. Still. The hurt it caused it. The hell it send to him. The hopelessness.

And then to see his shidi thrive were he can’t no longer. To see him shine when he is but a shadow. To see him reach for the impossible time and time again as if it was not WWX who never gave up before, who rallied his shidi over his (small, imagined, greedy) woes. To see all that and know envy, envy he had denied his whole life and envy he will repress into resentment, into sth useful bc WWX is not like yzy or Jc he is not, he does not hurt the ones he lives with his jealousy and sense of inferiority. Bc how can he not envy, when one says his dad doesn’t love him but he still has a dad? When one says he is not enough for his sect when he has such a inheritance, such a clear path at life. And WWX never cared never ever ever, how could he? He loved his shidi best, in spite of all the bad things.

And somehow, Jc himself is a thing he has to be loved in spite of. And it’s heartbreaking.

#but WWX never will say any of that aloud or even think it clearly #this man has been running form negative emotion like he’s sprinting his whole life #also that would make him the bad guy and WWX has enough guilt to carry and not talk about already try #also I love Jc and it shows sorry #this is not to say he is a perfect shidi or anything the man is a mess #but all his doubts about WWX character have it reason. it’s proof #and maybe the proof was forged but it was there #he does not deal with a single emotion gracefully but he does deal with them. he lets them simmer for eternity #which is. not ignoring them.#bad but at least real. idk how to say it.#anyway it fucks me up how much agency WWX denies Jc and how much complexity he refuses to see #like. WWX would do the impossible to make Jc the person who hates him irrationally so that he is not the bad guy in the relationship #(which is more complex than good or bad guys but I digress)#I love when they reconcile but I also hate it. bc it is never acknowledged how much WWX daily shits on Jc as a person)#you can love a person you don’t like. it happens.#but the Jc in WWX head is not the real Jc and the sad thing is that WWX loves the real Jc not the inherited prejudice from jfm #but he can’t perceive him he refuses to he can’t bc then he has to deal with what he did to him.#he lied. he lied. he lied to Jc’s (and himself) so much he can’t no longer distinguish the truth of them and is so fucking sad #mxtx #chengxian #grandmaster of demonic cultivation

because it’s bad in the way only bad kids shows can be. and then it’s also bad in fifteen other ways

#I don’t think it’s uniquely terrible but I do think it sets out with some very lofty goals and faceplants in an attempt to achieve them #also it gets anakin’s character really wrong in a way that I think undermines a lot of what’s compelling about him #I will say something I do like about it is that it fleshes out the clone wars in greater detail #like the bits with syndulla on ryloth #but it fails to do anything compelling with those bits in a cohesive way #it’s so wrapped up in conveying an obvious moral lesson that it loses nuance #which! of course that was going to happen!#you can’t pick a tangled political morally ambiguous war as a topic #and then use a kids show to try and depict it without losing nuance and cohesion and a host of other things that make good storytelling #even kids shows that are about war and do it well (like atla) aren’t dealing with wars as tangled and difficult as the clone wars are #like. tcw was just never going to be able to say anything about politics or war #with the depth and coherence the clone wars necessitate #in my unprofessional opinion tcw was. much like the prequels. and anakin too I guess. doomed from the beginning #asks #anon #star wars #this is my highly developed opinion

so y‘all are telling me that i went from not being able to leave my apartment without having a panic attack to working as a barista and content creator (for the café) - i‘d kms just thinking about putting myself out there a year ago what the fuckidyfuck happened

#i know working as a barista isn’t a big deal for most people #but it’s a huge deal for me as i wasn’t even able to go grocery shopping without dissociating or having a panic attack back then #there were days where i just accepted that i will not eat cause i literally didn’t have anything at home #and as i said i couldn’t get out of my apartment for the life of me #so ye it is a huge step for me lol #like i still very much can’t breathe omw to work cause PEOPLE #but apparently once i‘m there i‘m doing good cause i even got asked to be the manager 💀💀💀#and.. i got called extroverted #PEOPLE THINK IM EXTROVERTED??#personal
