It's so funny when some fans can literally point out how Will loves and appreciates Mike for who he is unconditionally as a form of byler endgame proof (and anti mlvn proof). Yet when it comes to their own fanon interpretations of his character, suddenly Will is perpetually annoyed with Mike for no reason.
Fanon Mike is chacterized as an annoying loser who, by the grace of god, was allowed to have friends who tolerate him, but not without letting him know he's annoying. And Will? He's the Chief Ambassador of the Neutralizing Mike Comittee (The NMC™) who forever has to remind Mike that had he not said yes to being his friend on the goddam swingset almost 10 years ago, he would be nothing but a frogfaced nerd who has an enternal home in Loserdom.
It's not like Mike being his best friend means anything to him. It's not like Will wasn't brought to literal tears after essentially telling Mike how he's made personal, irreplaceable impact on his life, and how he would always have a place in his heart (as well as his other friends and family). Mind you, Will said all of that immediately after Mike expressed his own self-doubt and inferiority.
Some fans took Mike's nightmare fuel (personal insecurities) and decided it would make great wholesome byler content. Feels bad man... I wish they would let Will love Mike unconditionally like he does in canon.
(P.S. I went on a huge rant about Will's response to the rink o mania/rain scenes , but I didn't know how to get my point across in relation to this without going off the deep end lmfao)

my answer is very very long, so i'll put it under the cut:
i firmly believe a lot of fanon mike's characteristics are a reflection of the fandom's own anger towards him, starting from s3 onwards. for example — the concept of mike being overly clingy or having nerdy geeking out moments, and then will being annoyed by it? like i'm so sorry, people are not going to like what i say, but the opposite of that dynamic is what is literally canon in the show. in s3 will is attached to his childhood (and by extension his friends + mike) and tries to get all of them to play d&d, and then lucas and mike both scorn him. mike basically tells will to grow up.
now, am i saying that this is the dynamic i want to see portrayed in fics? no, of course not. in fact, the show itself makes it very clear that mike was in the wrong for treating will like that. and the audience was mad at mike. which is why i believe a lot of bylers write a role reversal of this, as some sort of comeuppance mike gets for s3 where he wasn't a good friend to will.
and as for mike being treated like he's the loserest loser in loserland, again, i think it just has a lot to do with people's anger towards him in s3 and s4, whether it's conscious or subconscious. when vol 2 came out everyone and their moms wanted to set fire to mike. people made soooo many jokes about will getting with another guy. all of this anger is also why people constantly peddle the "will is too good for mike" rhetoric as well.
the actors' appearances also come into play here. noah is broader and more toned than finn. that's also why buff byers became a thing, though noah's not really buff, he's just fit. buff byers also came from the idea that mike should be fucking groveling at will's feet, as repented for the way he treated will in s3-s4. like, "hey look! will is super strong and he's a chick/guy magnet and he could literally have any boy in the world!" and so they try to make this sort of disparity between both boys and put will on a pedestal compared to mike so that mike can do nothing but be his personal fanboy who should be grateful will even dared to look upon him.
i think that the van scene also added to people's anger towards mike. ranging from mike not noticing will crying (allegedly), to mike not realizing/accepting will's veiled love confession (allegedly). which is again, why we get more fan content of will not reciprocating mike's romantic affection. or people declaring that mike doesn't deserve will's love. it's just another role reversal.
which is so funny because like you said, will's love is unconditional. he openly admits to feeling lost without mike, but people like to pretend will was a happy little clown in california where everyone wanted a piece of him. and he admits that being mean or pushing mike away is NOT WHO HE IS NORMALLY. like seriously this is literally in the fucking show!!!
my answer is just mostly about byler but again just to note that all of mike's friends love him. they fight him or tease him but that's because they care. they find him annoying in the same way he would also find them annoying. because friends will annoy each other. but they still look up to him. in fact, all of them have had moments where one of their issues was literally the fact that they wanted mike's attention in one way or another.
mike IS a loser. but he's a loser in the sense that all of the party are losers. not in the way fanon portrays, where the party are somehow infinitely cooler than mike, who is written as a bottom of the barrel leech. (and also just to add here — people love over-exaggerating the idea of mike being "ugly" in canon, just so they can pair it with will "could attract literal gods" byers.)
and also, last one — mike is the heart of the party. there's no other way around it. he is their leader, and "without heart, we'd all fall apart" is literally THE most applicable thing to mike. when mike didn't act true to himself, not like the leader he normally is, that's when everything began falling apart. which is why i'm so hyped for s5, where we hopefully get to see mike come back to himself and truly lead the party as their paladin.

I’m thinking about how Papa/Dr Brenner’s speech to El applies to Mike as well—
Because El only mentioned monsters before he said this. It just feels like they want you to think about Mike when you hear these words. Like- he’s the one who keeps saying the word superhero throughout the season.
Like think about it— El claims she’s a monster and Mike claims she’s a superhero but both sides are just extremes. They’re not real they’re fictional and they’re both wrong. So I feel like this is towards both El and Mike and how they think.
“You speak of monsters, superheroes. That's the stuff of myth and fairy tales. Reality, truth, is rarely so simple.” This just fits Mike so perfectly to me. Like he uses fantasy to escape- like DnD and comics/superheroes it’s just a way for him to escape the real world. It’s him wanting things to be easy like they are in stories but that’s not how it works in reality.
“Only by facing all of ourselves, the good and the bad, can we become whole.” The good and the bad. Like- in order for Mike to become whole to be himself he needs to acknowledge the good and the ‘bad’ (what society defined as bad).
“What if I don't wanna become whole?” “Then that is a choice. Your choice. The door is always open. This place is not a prison. This is.” Like— FINN HAS MENTIONED THIS! Mike gets stuck in his own head a lot and doesn’t really acknowledge everything around him until someone he cares about is in danger.
Like— it’s interesting how similar El’s and Mike’s struggles are and yet they can’t seem to communicate it to one another (sorta highlighting how their relationship doesn’t work).
But also I think this hints at what’ll happen with Mike next season! Like he's also going to have to accept every part of himself in order to be whole

My thoughts are; Blaine for Angela, Quinn for Courtney, Brittany for Olivia, Sebastian for Tommy, Santana for Chanse, and Marley for Kimmy

anyway additional thoughts: jackie might be tina-coded?? hopeless romantic, extremely emotional, low-key diva when she wants to be, incredibly talented and they didn't deserve her. again im talking 1-3 tina. they hated her after that for some fucking reason. and on that note shayne is mike im taking no questions at this time. level-headed, smart, not a singer, just here to be a lil guy. yeah.
i think im gonna go with amanda as rachel. lovingly. SO lovingly. all the silliest rachel moments. i could see a couple different people as her (i think angela is also good here but she's too okay with being wrong/the butt of the joke, and then i think my second choice is tommy) but yeah i think amanda is my top pick. and then i might be so controversial as to say ian is finn-coded. just some guy. team leader. everyone's dad. just seems like he would have things to say about grilled cheesus. and anthony is jesse st. james. goodbye. that's all. these three are THE love triangle moment.
kiana is mercedes. why? because i said so. above it all, incredibly talented but underrated. (also im not thinking too hard ab the relationship implications but that does make the samcedes dynamic SO fucking funny.) and keith is artie. it's the 'wheres my hug at' guy of it all. its okay i like artie im allowed to bully him and i Love keith so
i do like sebastian for tommy and ya know what. im tempted to agree and leave it there bc i feel like thats as kind to him as i can possibly be KLNFFKLN but i struggled with placing him anywhere else... he could be rachel i think (and then amanda would move the whole paradigm. i would make her sue for funsies.) but i think that's All i can see him as. and then trevor is. rory. bc i have a hyperfixation on rory and trevor Is the rory in my head. so there.

Do you think when finn was referring to El when a person he loves was in danger cause she was taken to Nevada or was it about will who might be vecna'd in vol2? And the snowball scene , do u think it might come up when Mike or will is in a trance cause except these two everyone had a good time

Aw thank you! and thanks for reading it! 💜 I think it could honestly be either, since El seems to be in a decent amount of danger in the lab in Nevada, but I think there’s a very strong chance Will might get vecna’d - he fits the bill perfectly because he has a crap ton of trauma, so he’d be a perfect victim for vecna to prey on. El would also be a perfect victim for Vecna because she has so much trauma as well, but she’s known Vecna before, when he was Henry, so if she crosses paths with him again, I think it might look a little different than Vecna’s other encounters with his victims. Maybe Finn was referring to both of them?
Anything’s possible so the snowball scene might be brought up again! I could totally see Will confessing to Mike that he wanted to dance with him that night and I would LOVEEE that. I’m also realllyyy crossing my fingers for a Mike & Will parallel to when Will was possesed in season 2 and Mike gave his “it was the best thing i’ve ever done” speech, if Will gets vecna’d in vol. 2… And that scene is partially inspired by Ghostbusters, and Ghostbusters is on the st4 video store fridays list, so maybe it’s possible? Idk i just really want it to happen! I need more emotional speeches in Vol.2!!! Vol. 1 was hinty, but they both didn’t get a lot of screen time which i was really surprised by :( Here’s hoping for more screen time for byler in vol.2!

okay I wasn't going to bring it up because its SO weird but since we're already looking at the monologue from a what the Fuck is This perspective. Mike's expression during the monologue bothers me So Fucking much. not because he looks distressed or intense. it's because he looks fucking Creepy. like seriously, I've seen so many people point this out and it's been bothering me since I first saw it. why the fuck does he look so... That? and at first I thought it was the weird shadows and harsh lighting that was only present on one side of the table apparently (so cutting over to Jonathan and then back to Mike/Will has even more whiplash) but on my second watch I actually realised why he looked so off to me
I did stage/theatre and a bit of psychology so I'm really into acting, filming techniques etc. and the second time I was trying so hard to find out Why the monologue felt so fucking uncomfortable. and well, the lighting is definitely a part of it. but for Me? it's the acting. Finn is making some.. uhm... interesting choices and after noticing for the first time it's SO obvious that I can't unsee it anytime I watch the scene now.
because for most of the monologue he's actually only acting with half his face. this sounds insane but I'm serious. even just taking the stills from your long monologue post. if you use your thumb to cover the left side of his face he looks terrified or devastated, the lighting is cold and harsh and it feels fitting for the situation. but if you cover his right side it's. uhm. it's a bit more. off. because here his face is fully in shadow and his eyes are still weirdly lit up but his expression is now genuinely terrifying because it doesn't fit the scene anymore. it's always somewhere between relaxed, neutral, and happy. which he is decidedly Not feeling during the monologue.
the "weird eyebrow thing" so many people are pointing out? yeah that's because his eyebrows aren't doing the same thing in this scene, ever. his right eyebrow scrunches up as he looks pained while his left one stays relaxed. it's such a discrepancy
and it's also a real thing in psychology. when a face is unsymmetrical, so when the left and right half of the face aren't conveying a congruent emotion, we find it unsettling. base human instinct, because it confuses our brain, we're not fully able to place a person's emotions anymore even if we can't identify why. you also sometimes see the phenomena of people's faces 'slipping' into two separate emotions when they're lying, faking emotion etc. literally 2 faced lmao. it's unsettling on a deeply human level, freaks people subconsciously out and is used in HORROR MOVIES because of that. I'm so serious this is insane to me, how the fuck did That piece of acting theory slip into a love confession scene
and what's also bothering me is how this is happening the WHOLE time during the monologue. normally, you can place a charcters emotion by looking at their face, from both sides. but looking at Mike depending on which side you cover you have agony and... I'm not gonna say apathy but it really does look like he's having a good time and isn't affected at all. and that's SUCH a BIZARRE acting choice. why the Fuck would Finn be going for this for the whole monologue when we've never seen him do this before. why is no one in production or on set correcting this. did they seriously film the monologue so quickly that they just went for it and didn't care? because it's creepy. straight up. it's a documented psychological phenomena and it's just freaky
so yeah. the dialogue in the monologue is interesting. the lighting is just fucking weird, both lights as Well as shadows. but the acting is Really the icing on top for me because why the fuck is This what we're going for? and that paired with the super unsettling camera angles of Mike constantly leaning over and close to the camera? which could be a close and intimate shot but because the perspective is so stretched and warped since we see Will in the far background it's NOT intimate anymore and just feels like being backed into a corner?
people saying the monologue was shot like a horror movie are on to something for real... from a lighting, camera, AND acting perspective. something went seriously wrong there

Don’t apologize! This is amazing. I literally started getting chills watching the monologue because it’s just creepy. I didn’t notice that Finn was only acting with half his face! That’s really interesting and very thing tied to that specific type of acting choice is really interesting. But that would makes so much sense considering the lighting contrast and the possibility that something else (like Vecna) is going on. There’s so much happening in Mike’s face and I really think that the point of the monologue is to notice what’s going on there. Because like you said, it’s like a horror movie. I noticed that his left eye is still weirdly lit up too when I was looking really close at some images from the monologue. It really does look like they edited it to be lighter for some reason.
The monologue really is turning out to be horrifying any way you look at it. (I know this is a very short reply but damn anon, you’ve really said it all- loved reading it and I think you’re absolutely correct.)

I'm going to awnser this with no particular order, okay?
S1 when they pull Will's fake body out of the water/Mike's reaction:
This scenes is one of the most memorable scenes of the entire show for me. It breaks me everytime. Its a beautiful scene, the music, the acting, Hopper's reaction, Mike's reaction, him crying to his mom. I will never get over this scene and I cry every f*ucking time I watch it.
Will's possession/ The MF entering his body:
It was terrifying. I was so worried and at the same time I was like "omg he is so brave". Noah's acting this whole season it's incredible. He nailed it.
Jopper bringing Will back to life:
Such a emotional scene and important for those three characters. Joyce was fighting for her son's life, Hopper was thinking about his daughter, fighting for Will's life so Joyce wouldn't have the same fate than him.
The shed scene:
Again, Noah's and Finn's acting in this scene are insane. Mike's emotional monologue to Will, Joyce and Jonathan trying to bring Will back, it's a beautiful scene.
Dustin and Suzie singing Never Ending Story:
It was cute, it was funny, the reactions of the others are amazing and they both were so in love that you could feel it with just one scene.
Byler rain fight:
While this scene also kills me everytime, it's a important scene for both characters. The photography, the acting, the meaning behind those words, the subtext. This scene is amazing.
Flayed Billy vs El (sauna):
This scene it's terrifying.
El vs Papa: "You are the monster":
A powerful moment for El, she finally understanding that papa was the monster. It fits her arc so well and have me goosebumps.
Max running up the hill, literally:
Max running away from Vecna, her memories, the whole dialogue and the desperation from Dustin, Lucas and Steve. The scene is beautiful and everyone nailed it!
The scene with everyone fighting Vecna together:
Lucas trying to wake Max, Hopper fighting the domogorgon with the sword, El in Max's memories, Steve, Nancy and Robin burning the shit of him. INSANE!
Of course there are some other scenes that i love too, but these are the ones that came to my mind.

S4 E5 - The Role You Were Born to Play
big episode for the white boys
THE GOOD
- Finn looks Good in the first scene
the rugged tire shop coveralls and stubble work for him
- it’s nice that Artie makes Finn direct the play with him
Finn needs someone to gently hold his hand and guide him through hard times like the small emotional stunted toddler that he is
- not to talk more about Finn’s clothes but the i love that he still dresses like a teen boy that wears exclusively american eagle polos that his mom got on clearance
- MIKE CHANG AND MERCEDES
- Beiste’s football pep talk to Will and Emma is so funny
- “[singing] just felt awesome, like a really good poop”
i missed Finn’s himbo energy so much
- Figgins is a little confused but he’s got the spirit when it comes to Unique
- Finn standing up for Unique was really great
- Finn is an ALLY
it was really great of him to not give in and give Unique the part. it was also great that he let her decide if she wanted to do it. he gave her agency and allowed her to decide if it was worth the hate.
- Unique is really brave for doing the musical despite knowing that she is going to be a target for Sue and other conservatives
but she is absolutely right that dreams aren’t free. sometimes we have to look bigotry in the face and take opportunities despite knowing that they are going to be hard.
- Finn being a teacher makes a lot of sense
i think he’ll do a way better job than Mr. Schue but that a really low bar
- i’m glad that we’ll be rid of Matthew Morrison for at least a few episodes
THE BAD
- Will would interrupt Emma and not let her talk during couple’s therapy
he’s in his sexist manipulator era
- HOLY SHIT THEIR NOT EVEN IN THERAPY THEIR JUST TALKING TO BEISTE
HELP
(they do need therapy though (or just to breakup))
- Sue’s transphobic comments make sense for her character but it doesn’t hurt any less
maybe because it’s just too real and topical right now. her jokes about other marginalized identities are exaggerated and clearly jokes from the writers. (also a lot of them hurt too and i’ve talked about it at length) but the transphobic comments aren’t jokes, they are just current conservative talking points and things that are still being actively debated. Sue’s character is the person that hates everyone equally and i have problems with that idea, but what she says to unique is just plain transphobia.
- I’m already tired of the Marley, Ryder, Jake, Kitty love triange (square??)
i have thoughts about who should end up with who but i’m going to save them for a little while
- Kitty is straight up bullying Marley for no reason
she is truly just an awful mean spirited person
- Finn using the R word was unnecessary and wrong
in universe that was fucked up, but i also think it is fucked up for the writer’s to include that at all. it served no purpose and just undermined Finn standing up for Unique. i don’t understand why they did this even a little bit. wtf
THE MUSICAL
- Hopelessly Devoted to You (9/10)
Darren kills this number. if they have to do Grease at least their doing it well. this song fit perfectly with the storyline. Darren’s acting and singing is wonderful as always. he is so talented. i loved it!
- Blow Me (One Last Kiss) (10/10)
WOW!! they absolutely destroyed that number. the energy was incredible. Marley and Unique are both incredibly talented, but they don’t seem like they would work together well. they have very different vibes. but holy shit that was perfection. their voices blend so well. Marley soft sweet voice complements Unique’s high belting so well. the choreography was a little cheesy but it doesn’t really matter. this also felt very cathartic after Sue’s transphobia.
- Juke Box Hero (10/10)
this was a really fun number!! Ryder is so cute and his plot line in this episode is adorable. i loved seeing him come alive when he sings and have this whole classic rock fantasy. i too am a classic rock guy as Finn said, so i relate. (also i talked some shit about Finn being nothing special but Cory does have a really great voice so maybe i was wrong about that but my main point stands)
- Everybody Talks (9/10)
i wanted to hate this number but honestly i can’t. it’s really tight. both of their voices are weird on their own but they work really well together for some reason. also the choreography also works really well. it’s a really technically solid number and keeps your attention really well.
- Born to Hand Jive (8/10)
this number was so chaotic. but in a good way maybe?? Marley was the star of the show. she was just having a blast out there. it was so great to see her just having the time of her life. Kitty on the other hand wtf is her problem. she is just so annoying. i have no patience for her stupid bullshit. she needs to Stop. Ryder and Jake are both good. Ryder is so sweet and pretty talented. Jake did the most when he removed Kitty from the situation. it was also great to have Mercedes’ voice and Mike Chang’s dance moves back. i was so distracted by the drama that i didn’t pay attention to the singing but the dancing was really fun.
OTHER
- if the writers weren’t cowards they would have cast Sam as Danny Zuko and Blaine as Sandy in a queer reimagining of Grease
(or maybe i’m just writing a Blam fanfiction in my head) (also when did I start shipping them this hard) (i’m a bi Sam truther)
- Blaine going through it after his breakup makes sense but is really annoying to me for some reason
it makes sense because high schoolers are Like That when they go through their first breakup and Kurt and Blaine were in a very intense relationship. but i just can’t get over how he’s acting like this for Kurt. Kurt is the literal worst and Blaine can do so much better. no need for the dramatics, bestie. you’re better off without him.
- Finn’s character is so interesting in this season
he’s this white guy who has nothing particularly special about him and no direction. and everyone’s like you’re so great and special, you can do anything. but like the only reason they’re saying that is because he is put on this white guy pedestal and treated like the best thing in the world. he’s starting to realize that he is not all that and that he probably is only qualified to work at Burt’s tire shop or maybe teach. and honestly he’s right.
- Finn and Sue’s argument in Figgins’ office is a rich text that i feel i need to unpack a little
first, i don’t understand Sue’s motivations at all in this scene. in the past she has only really been bigoted as a tool to get what she wants. i never thought she believed anything she said that bigoted, she just didn’t really care and was willing to use bigotry to get what she wants or have power over people. (not that it’s not bigotry and it’s still wrong). however, in this scene, she has no motivation for not wanting Unique as Rizzo other that blatant transphobia. it’s not consistent with her character and feels really gross, because even though Sue is the villain we are still supposed to like her and she was kind of getting redeemed. but this is straight up inexcusable.
second, her argument that it they are actually in the wrong because causing a stir in conservative spaces would put the child in danger is so weird. like she has a point and it feels weird to subject Unique to that but also how are marginalized children supposed to do anything if nobody stands up for them and gives them opportunities. in my opinion, it is up to the adults to protect the child and allow them the opportunity anyway.
third, Finn handles the situation incredibly well. like a model of how he should handle it and then blows it by using an ableist slur. if they’re going to have a violently transphobic character, they need to have someone to counter balance and fight back, so why did they have to make him also in the wrong. it makes the ending feel weird.
It feels like they were trying to both sides this issue when it’s not something that can be debated.Trans people exist whether Sue Sylvester and the conservatives want them to or not and they deserve the same rights and opportunities that cis people are afforded. this is not a both sides issue. the transphobes are in the wrong. this scene would have worked so much better if they had just let Finn win and be completely right, but instead they had him be ableist and undermine his correct viewpoint. it’s fucked up. the whole scene left a bad taste in my mouth.
also will schuester is a coward and using Finn being the director is such a copout. stand up for your trans student and support the person the you appointed as director for the play

Hello! did you see the Welcome to California teaser? What were your thoughts? I for one, loved it, it's easily the story I am most excited for!
So I’ve got three words for you: Now We’re Talking.
This trailer has me so pumped up for S4. There’s so much Mileveney goodness here. The fact that El is counting the days she’s been apart from Mike, the same way Mike did in S2 - argh. The Mileven is strong with this one.
A few random observations below in no particular order. Obviously, because this is a trailer, any or all of these could turn out to be completely off base when the full season finally drops...
The initial trailers promised a “Group One” of Steve, Robin, Lucas, Max and Dustin (and I think Nancy). It looks like “Group Two” will be the Byers (Joyce, Jonathan, Will, El) plus Mike. And yes, I’m loving Group Two 😊.
Spring Break, woo hoo!
Although the series is filming in New Mexico, my guess now is that the state won’t be a location in the show. Based on the trailer, I assume that NM is a stand-in for SoCal, in the same way Georgia is a stand-in for Indiana in previous seasons.
I love MBB’s speech patterns as Eleven in the trailer. There’s the familiar slow, hesitant rhythm of her voice, as if she’s carefully thinking of each word before she says it - but it’s a little faster this time. The words are longer too, more multi-syllabic. Both Millie and the writers seem to be advancing the character, recognizing that she’s gotten older and been exposed to more people, so her language is improving... but she still hasn’t left 12 years in the Lab entirely behind. Early days yet, but so far I’m loving this take.
Contrary to a lot of fanfic (but not the Special series 😊), it appears that El is not one of the popular kids. She’s putting a brave face on it in her letter to Mike, but it looks like she gets picked on and is closer to the bottom of the high school food chain than the top. I’m not surprised - it emphasizes the fact that she’s lost her powers and can’t do anything about bullies, and it fits her character too. Quite simply, El is unusual, and unusual doesn’t do well in high school.
El’s letter suggests it’s been 185 days that she and Mike have been apart. That would suggest the Duffer Brothers and Netflix are dealing with the physical aging of their young cast through the time-honored tradition of ignoring it. And that makes sense. I googled some classic “high school” TV shows and movies. The actors playing the “high school freshmen” of Dawson’s Creek, Glee, Beverly Hills 90210 and the 80’s high school movie Fast Times at Ridgemont High were generally between the ages of 19 and 27. So Millie at 17, Finn at 18 and Sadie at 19 are young from a Hollywood perspective when it comes to playing high-schoolers. To me, ignoring their aging makes a lot more sense than trying to do some complicated time-travel plot or multi-year time jump in the continuity. But it’s just a trailer, maybe I’m wrong...
Finally, I have to say that somewhere along the line, Finn Wolfhard turned into a really good-looking guy. His looks are unconventional, and he’s so skinny I’m afraid a strong breeze would knock him over, but he’s got very striking features. I’d swear he and Timothee Chalamet were separated at birth. If Timothee’s contract negotiations for Dune 2 hit an impasse, here’s your new Paul Atreides 😊...
So, that was probably more than you expected, but this trailer really spoke to me and got me excited for S4 in a way I haven’t been for a long time!

hearing noah say twice that this season's gonna be "romantic" is super exciting! do you have any ideas or predictions for what he meant by that? i'd love to hear your thoughts :D
I might as well address this to help my previous troll feel a little bit more justified. I'd hate to ruin a kid's day.
I would assume that if an actor mentioned something they did being romantic that it'd involve their character somehow. I'd find it odd for him to highlight elements of the show that he wasn't a part of. This doesn't automatically mean that Will gets some romance, but Noah would be most knowledgeable of his own scenes and storylines.
There's no direct (or indirect, really) evidence of what could be romantic about it. It also somewhat goes up against what Finn said about this season being particularly messed up. There's no reason it can't be both, but they are two very different things to highlight. Considering the two of them presumably are part of the same storyline, I do find it odd that they'd focus on different elements.
At the end of the day, there are plenty of avenues for romance, even if the events of the season will make it difficult to have a happy ending (at least until next season). Noah could be referring to a Joyce/Hopper reunion, as that will no doubt be very emotional. That would be my best guess as far as any currently canon pairing goes.
Yes, a part of me would be very happy to have him be referring to Mike and Will. It's not impossible, but I feel like it would be difficult for them to reach the "romantic" stage within season 4. Everything about their dynamic has been largely subtext for so long that suddenly making it explicit would be jarring. Add on that Mike and El would need their own closure before Mike and Will could progress, and that seems like a very tight timeframe to me. I suppose it comes down to what Noah meant by romantic. I suppose it would still fit if we saw some more blatant affection between them, even if one or both of them still aren't ready.
This is one of those things that we'll just have to wait and see what it means. Noah loves getting fans riled up by saying things like this, but it still doesn't tell us much. If he actually said anything really indicative, the Duffers would probably sew his mouth shut.

assigning glee characters to folklore songs
the 1: i think tina would sing this about mike at the end of season 6, after she proposed to him but before the five year time skip. (maybe she performs at a coffeeshop gig to make money during college?) it would be a reflection on their relationship, and how even though she’s happy with how her life is working out, she still would have loved to be with mike forever.
cardigan: i don’t know about timelines, but i want to hear marley singing this. she has such a lovely voice, strong but not overpowering in the way that some of the other female singers on the show could be, and i think she’d do a beautiful job with this song - especially the bridge!
the last great american dynasty: for some reason i can really see marley taking this one?? idk why but it just feels very fun and light, while also telling a really neat story at the same time, and i think marley would nail that balance. also, something about marley’s general vibe and vocals really reminds me of taylor - i think they both have a similar tone, sweet and simple and lovely - so i can definitely see her doing a rendition very similar to the original song.
exile: this is perfect for finchel around the breakup. they’d sing it as a duet, ofc, keeping the male/female parts the same as they are in the original song. i don’t have much to say about this, honestly - i feel like it’s a pretty obvious fit, and i think their voices would suit the song better than any other couple on the show.
my tears ricochet: this would be such a beautiful klaine duet set just after the breakup - maybe around thanksgiving? i think their voices go really well together (most of the time lolol) and i think kurt’s voice in particular would lend a super cool vibe to the songs.
mirrorball: i’ve seen people give santana this one, but this song just SCREAMS quinn to me. i envision her singing this either while she’s getting ready for prom (shot in the style of i feel pretty/unpretty) or while walking home after finn breaks up with her at jean’s funeral. to me, this song is about constantly putting on masks and doing things solely because it’ll help her keep finn, and thus her status and image. i think the lines “i’m still a believer, but i don’t know why/i’ve never been a natural, all i do is try, try, try/i’m still on that trapeze/i’m still trying everything to keep you looking at me” really fit quinn during late season 2 - she’s desperately trying to present herself as the perfect girlfriend, because she’s watching finn fall back in love with rachel and thinks that if she just tries hard enough, maybe she can keep him this time around.
seven: brittana duet alert! i’ve always headcanoned them as childhood best friends, and i can see them performing it in season one or very early season 2, reflecting on their early relationship and how it’s changed. it’d be a really sweet duet that would give their characters some backstory and grounding.
august: i think rachel would sing this after finn and quinn get back together during season 2. it’d be a classic rachel solo, the kind with super exaggerated emotions that make the rest of the glee club slightly uncomfortable.
this is me trying: this gives me such santana vibes. i think she’d knock this song out of the park, with a lovely mix of emotion and control, and i think it would have absolutely been one of the best solos on the show. it’s heartbreaking and she would really make it mean something, you know? i think it’d be gorgeous.
illicit affairs: while i didn’t like finn or fuinn, i think their one duet was really lovely, and i think this could have been a good song for them to pair up on around silly love songs - after they start their relationship, but before people start to find out about it. it’d be kind of like roots before branches in the sense that finn wouldn’t spit equal vocals with quinn, but would instead be more of backup for her. it’d play during a montage of them meeting up in empty classrooms and sending each other emotionally charged looks during glee club meetings, very classic secret relationship stuff.
invisible string: i think this could be a really lovely klaine duet!! again, a season 6 song, maybe during the wedding - it’s the story of how they feel like their romance was meant to be, and that “invisible string” of destiny is how they ended up overcoming all the obstacles to come back together.
mad woman: honestly give this to all the og glee girls towards the end of season 3 as one last hurrah before they head to nationals. i can see them doing it in the style of shake it out - all sitting on stools, with dramatic lighting, fierce outfits/makeup, and lots of complicated harmonies.
epiphany: i want to hear quinn and santana sing this song together. their one duet on the show (take my breath away) was absolutely gorgeous, with fantastic harmonies and a light, breathy quality that would suit this song incredibly well.
betty: another quinn song!! she’d sing this in season 3, after successfully talking rachel out of marrying finn (the car accident/baby stealing shit didn’t happen in this world, because those plots were stupid). she’d perform in front of the club, with backup from brittana, and she’d use it both to come out and to admit she has feelings for rachel - changing “james” to “quinn” ofc ;)
peace: this is a weird one, but stay with me on this - let puck sing this song. i feel like this song really sums up the crux of the problem that i have with quick - other than beth, they didn’t have much in common, and they were never able to give each other what they needed for a healthy, lasting relationship. however, i feel like puck would nail the emotional execution of this song. “would it be enough, if i could never give you peace?” is THE question that defines quick, and so i think puck would be the best fit for this song.
hoax: why am i getting brittany vibes from this? i mean, it’s a little profound for her, but i think she could sing this in early season 2, when she’s trying to convince santana to come out and be with her, before she and artie start dating. santana doesn't want to be with her openly, and brittany is hurt by that, but is still in love with and incredibly fond of her, so the song is about her clinging to santana even though she knows the relationship isn’t going to last unless santana is willing to go public.
the lakes: this was the trickiest song on the list for me, but i’m going to have to give it to quinn. quinn was very much set up as one of the smartest kids in glee club from an academic standpoint; she mentions being on honor roll in season 1, gets into yale, and tells rachel she had a straight A average while pregnant (which is literally SO impressive y’all), so it seems fitting to me that she would be the one to perform this song, which has very complicated, intellectual lyrics. she’d sing this in season 6 - and dedicate it to rachel of course.

ok your Halloween party episode tags has got me hyped up what do you think everyone’s costumes would be !!
Oooooh this is such a fun question!! But yes, it was a missed opportunity to not have a true Halloween episode..like in Blame It on the Alcohol, we deserved a big dumb New Directions Halloween party at Rachel’s! Now I’ll be honest, these answers are a mix of what I could see the glee kids actually wearing but some are definitely just wishful thinking on my part..(also some of these don’t fit time wise as in they didn’t exist when glee was airing but let’s ignore that!!)
-Quinn: I could see her being a big Game of Thrones fan and she would totally rock a Daenerys costume & look so gorgeous! Another option I’m feeling is Spinelli from the tv show Recess, especially skank Quinn (I’m gonna headcanon this as being a show she enjoyed watching as a child!)
-Brittana: I would love to see them dressed up as Catradora from She-Ra and the Princesses of Power!! Brittany would be Adora/She-Ra & Santana would be Catra. Their personalities & height difference fit so well for that! Another couples costume is Brittany as Harley Quinn & Santana as Poison Ivy😍
-Mercedes: I have no actual reasoning for this (other than I think she would look ridiculously hot) but I wanna see her dressed up as Maleficent! The other option I can think of for her is a very glamorous + classy angel. The only true criteria I have for Mercedes is that whatever costume she wears would be classified as stunning!✨
-Rachel: She would 100% be dressed as Fanny from Funny Girl.. and take it way too seriously and go full method.. until everyone else tells her to stop being a buzzkill and convince her that the only way that will happen is if she changes into a different costume. Some of the other girls go through her closet and are able to put together a look that resembles Minnie Mouse in a very impressive yet scary manner!
-Tike: I can see Tina & Mike wanting to go for pretty theatrical + creative costumes (something Tina could design!). I picture them going for characters from media they enjoy watching together so examples being something like Jack & Sally from The Nightmare Before Christmas or Morticia & Gomez from The Addams Family! They would go the full nine yards with the costumes, makeup, & some role playing but clearly not take things too far like Rachel did (aka they are basically the most fun people there)!
-Klaine: Obviously canon gave us them as Snooki & The Situation from Jersey Shore! So if we wanna stay within that type of lane, I can totally picture them being ridiculous and going for Tiger King costumes or even Paris & Nicole from The Simple Life! I can also see something happening like Kurt losing a bet which allows Blaine to pick their costume theme. Blaine would choose something like superheroes and would go for a hero like Batman whereas Kurt being forced to choose would probably be drawn to someone like Loki (mainly for the drama he brings & cool costume - which being the Kurtcedes lover that I am would love to see them both rock costumes with horns👌)!
-Artie: Many months before Halloween..Artie, Sam, Puck & Finn were hanging out and watching Ghostbusters which got them to agree to a plan of wearing group costumes. Artie went full out and even made his own very elaborate proton pack. Of course when he shows up to the party, he is the only one out of the four to be wearing the agreed upon group costume.
-Sam: Obviously he forgot about the Ghostbusters costume.. so naturally he shows up to the party in super realistic blue face & full body paint resembling that of a creature from Avatar. Unfortunately, he didn’t set the paint properly (or make the smarter decision of wearing a blue bodysuit instead of paint) so anywhere he sits or leans against he ends up getting blue paint all over the surface.. by the end of the night most of the paint is no longer on his body...
-Puck: Days before the party, Puck & Finn decide to buy a two person horse costume because they find it absolutely hilarious (& again, they both forgot about the Ghostbusters group costume).
-Finn: Not only did Finn forget about the group Ghostbusters costume but he was also able to somehow misplace his half of the horse costume so he had to scramble to come up with something to wear. He shows up in a white fitted sheet that has jagged cut outs for his eyes, nose, mouth, & arms. It is BY FAR the worst costume of anyone there & that’s saying a lot since Puck is stuck just being half of a horse (the back end at that)!
~Even though Artie was a bit let down that no one else remembered the group costume, being able to pretend to capture Finn while everyone else roasts Finn about how awful his ghost costume is really makes up for his three friends being complete idiots!<33

My opinion is that a good amount of the fandom doesn’t see El as her own person and only sees her as an extension of Mike even when they try to deny it, and that not being together romantically would be a lot healthier for both of their character growth.
oh this. ive found in my short bursts of exploring the stranger things fandom that far too many el stans for my liking erase or twist everything that makes her HER, or seem to get defensive over characteristics that el DOES have and things that el DOES do. not everyone loves characters the same way, sorry that you can't appreciate el's hot-headedness, intellectual struggles and probable post-institutional syndrome, and tendancy to mimic other people around her as she learns the world, but that's a you problem shawty <3
i think a lot of people just don't care to engage with her character on any deeper level other than thinking she's a cute badass who kicks monster ass, and that's okay. i do get the impression with how they talk about el and mileven, and the type of content they make, that a group of fans simply use el as a self-insert because they find finn cute. i tend to think el does have her own distinct personality, but for those who don't necessarily engage with her character, i can see how she'd come across to them as a semi-clean slate they can project onto.
and actually ive decided to go on a tangent because this just reminded me of something lol and im using this anon as an excuse to try to collect and organise my thoughts. in the conflict scene between mike, max and nancy regarding mike's concerns of treating el like a weapon, nancy was literally projecting in that scene...she's personally dealing with sexism in her own plot and thus applies her own feelings about her own situation to el's, growing defensive over mike's genuine worry, batting it away with 'el knows her own limits. el is her own person' and she's misguided because even though el does know a great deal more about her power than anyone else, she's been shown to be extremely brave, protective and sacrificial (which mike helplessly WATCHED the first time) for the people she cares about and would absolutely exhaust herself and push herself past her own capabilities if it meant saving them for a little bit longer. that's ALSO who el is at her core. a girl who loves deeply.
to me it's not that mileven is 'unhealthy' like they're kids tbh, tho mike has been paralleled to hopper in s3 numerous times with his possessiveness, talk of others "corrupting" her, and typical 80s teenage boy behaviour, for me it's that i don't really like where that dynamic puts mike's character and by extention how other characters have to kind of...revolve around mileven when it's romantically A Thing, as they literally did in season 3. mike is a group leader but in season 3 he really wasn't, mike loves his friends so much but in season 3 he was really slacking on the whole 'i would literally DIE for my friend' thing and was so obsessively preoccupied with girlfriends (while the girls, on the other hand, were living their best single lives) that he shoved aside 2 out of 3 friends etc.
el on the other hand isn't that much affected as a character by having a boyfriend/love interest as far as we can tell, which I really love, however I find it...odd...that she's this really traumatised child with actual powers, she's WEIRD she's not normal, she's no particularly well-adjusted, she's still learning language, context and behaviours and such, she doesn't know who she is or what she likes, she's barely seen the world, but right away she's just acting like a normal teenage girl with unconventional speech patterns trying on clothes, eating ice cream, skipping through the mall, oogling boys and dealing with angsty teen drama, which isn't bad, I'm just wondering where the rest went and why they can't co-exist. a quick shot of el feeling watched and uneasy while she's in the mall surrounded by all those people. something. that's not really a gripe i have with mileven, but just how it's been fitted in with the other elements of the show and how it was so in our faces all season 3. with that being said im in agreement with the metas discussing how season 3 is supposed to be superficial and goofy and emphasises how mileven doesn't really work and has been moving quickly, i think we were supposed to be uncomfortable with that makeout scene watching through the crack in the door where hopper is, being told the kissing is constant, having joyce ask hopper to clarify it's ONLY kissing these 14 year olds doing, that awkward one-sided kiss with mike's eyes wide open, everyone teasing them or expressing frustration towards them, etc. i have no hard feelings for mileven, i don't actually mind it (or i didn't until all that i just mentioned in s3 plus some), i think it's very sweet in s1 and s2. really i don't take major issue with the relationship itself when you remove it from everything else and look at it, i simply just prefer byler. LOL.

Summer’s Almost Over (So Come Spend it with Me)
Tan Hands and Tan Lines Day Four Side A: Tenacious

By the time Blaine pulled up to Tina’s house, the sun was already beginning to set past the horizon. They were gonna be late.
When Rachel invited him to her fourth of July barbecue a week ago, he had actually been excited. He had only met a few of the New Directions, and they were nice, but this time he was hoping to win them all over. It was summer, and their show choir rivalry was over for the year. Besides, he was dating their teammate, and that had to count for something.
As the date grew closer though, he felt that familiar knot in the pit of his stomach. Blaine knew how important the group was to Kurt. They were his second family, and their approval of him would mean a lot. He couldn’t screw this up.
So Blaine made the best peach cobbler he could, wrapped it in tin foil and set it in the passenger seat of his car. Of course he didn’t have to bring anything, but first (or second) impressions were everything. He settled for a more casual look, an open graphic button down and dark green swim trunks. He gelled his hair down only a little, knowing it would probably wash out anyway.
And he told Tina that he could drive her there. Apparently, he would pass her neighborhood on the ride to Lima anyway. She didn’t have to know he got hopelessly lost trying to find her house.
She was one of the club members Blaine hadn’t officially met yet. They talked briefly at prom for his performance, but that was it. She seemed nice, if not a little stand-offish around him.
He tapped the horn twice, and it took another minute or so for her to come out of the front door. She had on a long black skirt and a black bikini top. Kurt did mention that she liked the color.
“We had to bring something?” She said instead of a hello, sliding into the passenger seat and setting the cobbler in her lap. “Ooh, it’s still warm.” Her eyelids were covered in sparkly blue eyeshadow, eyeliner perfectly winged.
“No, um. It was just the…nice thing to do?” He offered, feeling suddenly self conscious about the decision. She nodded and pulled out her phone, typing at a rapid speed. They pulled out of the driveway and back onto the main road in relative silence.
They just passed the ‘Welcome to Lima!’ sign when Tina exclaimed, “Oh! I made you this.” She pressed a bracelet into his wrist, which he grabbed at the next stoplight.
It said his name on it, spelled out with alternating black and white beads. The band was made of thin red rope, and there were tiny bird and bowtie pins attached. It was a friendship bracelet.
While Blaine was stunned to silence, Tina rushed to explain. “I just thought, y’know since you’re dating Kurt, you’re basically an honorary New Directions member.”
“I made one for everybody, I think they’re starting to catch on,” she added with a wink.
“You made this?” Blaine squaked. He slid it onto his wrist before making a right at the intersection. There were ties on the end, and after some adjustments it fit snugly.
She shrugged. “Yeah, well Kurt had some say in it too,” Tina said. Blaine’s heart swelled, because of course he did. “But I made the bowtie charm out of some recycled plastic.”
“Thank you so much, Tina.” Blaine grinned at her. He saw her pale skin blush out of the corner of his eye.
“He really cares about you,” she said, tugging at her own bracelet. It was lime green, popping against her various shades of black. “I mean, he cried when he came back to McKinley, he missed you so much.” Blaine grinned at that and filed it in his mind for things to tease Kurt about when they were older.
“He told me that you saved his life,” she continued.
Blaine gasped quietly to himself at that. He never knew Kurt was hurting so bad. To say that he saved his life meant a lot. It meant everything, actually.
“So if you ever hurt him, I’ll kill you.” Tina made a slicing motion at her neck, deathly serious. “Or burn your bowties, whichever hurts more.” She laughed at her own threat, and Blaine couldn’t help but laugh too.
Once she sobered up, Tina messed with the radio until ‘Love on Top’ by Beyoncé blared from the car’s speakers. They glanced at each other, eyes gleaming with an unspoken challenge of who could do the most modulations.
By the time the car pulled up to Rachel’s house, they had talked their way through all of the released Marvel movies. Tina ranted about how Thor was hot, dyed eyebrows and all. They exchanged numbers and made plans to watch Captain America on opening night.
They were just under an hour late, the sun replaced by the moon and stars. A few porch lights were still on, and cars pulled into driveways after long days at work. Still, Blaine could hear a pounding base coming from the backyard. He opened the back gate for Tina and stepped onto cool concrete.
“There you guys are! We were getting worried!” Rachel cried, wrapping Tina and then Blaine into a hug. Quinn followed behind and took the dessert from his hands. Rachel shouted to the rest of the group, “Tina and Blaine are here!” Everyone waved and cheered, Puck clapping him on the back as he walked by.
“It’s okay, we had a lot of fun.” Tina smiled and wrapped an arm around Blaine’s neck. And yeah, he realized, they really did. Between singing along to the Top 40 radio station and talking about the ridiculous things both of their boyfriends have done, he hadn’t even noticed that his anxiety about the night had left him somewhere along the highway. He had made a friend without having to put on some sort of mask.
Someone cleared their throat behind them. “Could I have my boyfriend now?” Kurt said from behind them, feigning annoyance. Tina poked his ribs before sliding off and crouching above Mike, who swam over to her.
Blaine felt the blood rush to his face at the sight of his boyfriend with no shirt on. His pale skin was wet and his blue shorts clung to his legs. Yeah, they’ve made out quite a few times, but they never went past second base. He never knew Kurt’s arms did that when he moved.
“Hi. You look, I mean…” When words failed, Blaine opted for kissing him quickly on the cheek. Kurt rolled his eyes fondly and took his hand, leading them to a lawn chair.
“How’d it go?” He asked, whipping his dripping wet hair back off his forehead. He wrung his hands together as he waited for an answer.
“Awh, you’re nervous,” Blaine teased.
Kurt huffed but didn’t deny it, instead rolling his eyes for the second time that night. “Be quiet and answer me.”
“How am I supposed to be quiet and answer you?”
“Blaine.”
“It was fine, Tina’s great.” He threw his wrist into Kurt’s view. “She made me this.” Even though they had only officially met an hour ago, Blaine felt the need to brag about her handiwork.
“Yeah well, Tina’s tenacious about these things,” Kurt muttered, fixing the collar on Blaine’s shirt. His own bracelet dangled off his left wrist. Without looking too hard, Blaine spotted what looked like a tiny slice of cheesecake as a charm. Tina would have to teach him how to make those.
“I heard she had some help,” Blaine whispered, setting his hands around Kurt’s waist to pull him closer.
“Oh yeah?” Kurt smirked. His eyes darted up to his boyfriend’s eyes then back to his lips in a sort of triangle. They both leaned in and began to close their eyes, until they felt water hit their thighs.
Santana splashed them again with water from her pool float. “Ewww, get a room, Leprechaun Gays!” They flipped her off in sync. She cackled and pushed her sunglasses off her face. Blaine was starting to understand the faces Kurt made whenever she was mentioned.
Kurt chuckled behind his hand. “Okay, let’s go get some food before it’s all gone, you know how Finn eats. Mercedes’ dad made burgers.”
Blaine shook his head and layed on the chair. “Can we just stay here for a bit?” He made grabby hands at Kurt, even if it was totally embarrassing.
“What’s gotten into you?” he asked, but still nuzzling into his chest. Height difference be damned. “Did Tina say something to you?”
Blaine kissed the top of Kurt’s head. “Nah. I just really love you is all.”

my only problem is i cant assign people just one so i will be listing other contenders if i have them
quinn: sinner's prayer. "and she wants nothing more than a man to please/maybe she's in too deep/her love for him ain't cheap/but it breaks/just like a knockoff piece from fulton street" tell me thats not quinn. tell me thats not quinn and ill tell you youre wrong. and the title alone... perfect for her religious trauma. ALSO it fits her alto voice!!!!! can you tell i had this one on standby for if i was ever asked something like this.
mercedes: you and i. now this is a song i mostly chose because i would absolutely love to hear it in her voice. she would fucking kill it and would sing it with so much emotion i can SEE it. also (pushing my samcedes agenda), its vaguely country vibe means it would be a great song to sing to/about sam's lil country ass. the shows version... did they really HAVE to mash it up with that other song. Did They. i was also seriously considering paper gangsta for her bc that would fit her s4 storyline SO WELL but i just wanna hear her Sing this one more. other contenders: paper gangsta and the fame

kurt: hair. i cant avoid it man. this is just his fuckin song! this is it! i know the whole "hair" metaphor doesnt really work with short hair, but its about the MESSAGE! ITS ABOUT THE EMOTION! he just wants to be himself and he wants you to love him for who he is! other contenders: boys boys boys and donatella (i have to say i rlly did something here with the other contenders)
santana: marry the night. everything about this song is for her. god i wish we got the "santana exploring the lgbtq scene in new york" storyline we deserved because this would fit it perfectly. shes gonna drive down the streets dressed insane and be gay as fuck! and she's gonna be alive to see it! no other contenders bc this song is just Hers. sorry bout it! and my fucking god her voice would sound INCREDIBLE doing the "NIIIIIIIIIGHT" AT THE END
sam: alejandro. now we all love Our Local Slut Sam. this is his Single and Free vibing song, which he should've gotten maybe! at some point! just a lil moment to Vibe and be sexy. i think this would be SO FUN!!!! he needs to wear a weird outfit and weird makeup. basically i need sam to be more campy
tina: dance in the dark. god this song fucks. i dont wanna ramble on too much to explain exactly how much it connects to tina (because it connects SO MUCH. SO MUCH) but. its about the breaking free of expectations and the self-consciousness. it is! AND about being a woman and having to deal with those things specifically!!!!! also her voice is so sweet and suited to this song's range. other contenders: schieße
rachel: million reasons. i think that this song connects to her and finn and a lot of their relationship. plus, this song isn't really pop, which suits rachel's voice more. thats it really. other contenders: joanne (also about finn, but specifically his death.)
puck: dope. you know that post about changing hey there delilah to be about a man separated from his daughter? yeah do that with this one and make it about beth. do it i promise it doesn't hurt at all :)
artie: just dance. this is a song i think he himself would choose bc it is right in his pop wheelhouse. he would have fun with it i think! and no escaping, he has to sing both colby o'donis AND gaga's parts. he is not exempt from gaga. other contenders: mary jane holland and starstruck
blaine: fashion of his love. this just makes sense okay! it just does. "i'm gonna be his first and last kiss" ok miss thing!!!! you go kiss your man!!!!! other contenders: so happy i could die
mike: artpop. im gonna be real, i mostly chose this because i think he could dance to it in his Own Style. i dont think theres much of an explanation otherwise? HOWEVER. if it werent such a Kurt Song i would def also propose hair for mike. it would fit his storylines quite nicely! so, other contenders: hair and teeth (that makes it sound like its one song title They Are Separate)
finn: brown eyes. this ones about rachel. it tracks it checks out it adds up it makes sense. "everything could be everything if only we were older/guess its just a silly song about you/and how i lost you/and your brown eyes". and in the context of finns death it hurts more ! :) other contenders: 911
brittany: highway unicorn (road to love). now i'm not just saying this because of the unicorn. i AM saying this because it just feels very brittany in terms of vibes as well as it being something she can sing about santana (she don't care if your papers or your love is a law/she's a free soul burning roads with a flag in her bra). also i think she can dance to it somewhat which is important
