I think i started to follow you bc of tiny!cas, like eons ago, let me tell you seeing you get into different fandoms over the years has been a delight.
I remember seeing post of you going like 'hey these slasher film kinda go hard' and look at you know.
I mean this in the best way possible, I feel i've been watching a house plant grow, every now and then catching my attention and being amazed by the changes
omg thats such a sweet way of describing my... well happy autism awareness day everyone, its a nice way of describing the way i naturally transition through my Special Interests lmfao
actually, for the holiday, let me infodump about this very aspect of my brain to anyone who isnt aware how this works for me. (also every autistic person is different, so this is just how this symptom manifests in me)
ill say "phases" to simplify, though thats an unfair word because it implies im "over" my past phases. 99% of my past phases are pretty much there for life, but in the back of my mind. (So long as I didnt have a "bad breakup" with it for some reason, which is rare but happens) The ability to become a raving lunatic about it is dormant until someone asks the right question.
There can only be one interest (sometimes 2, with one being the less dominant one) at the forefront of my brain at a time, though. that defines the "phase".
so for example, my recent Halloween phase is "over" and I am 100% fully into Saw now, but I still absolutely love Halloween and Michael and Jason and all those guys. as evident by me still happily sharing gifsets and art and buying merch etc if it tickles my fancy. They're just hanging out in the background of my mental display case.
yea whoever follows my tumblr for a very long time has watched it happen in realtime. the transition between interests. i know for a fact which phase I started this blog on. if you're here from the beginning, youve seen, in order:
-Durarara!!
-Deus Ex
-Supernatural
-Godzilla
-Detroit: Become Human
-There was like a few weeks where it was HLVRAI
-And then it was plants. There was a year-long stretch with no Special Interest and I was latching onto odd things (and I was very inactive here)
-Halloween & Friday the 13th
-and now, Saw
I have many other things I love, but they don't clamp around my brain in quite the same extreme way.
my phases can last any amount of time, anywhere from a few short intense months to 5+ years, its completely random, completely unpredictable. even the interest itself is impossible to predict. its not something i choose, its something that happens to me.
sometimes i avoid watching things for a long time because im still very emotionally attached to my current phase and im genuinely afraid the shiny new thing will replace it. all art or fic ideas for the previous phase? theyll be abandoned. all I will want to create will be related to the new thing. (though I will sometimes draw it anyway, like digging up old toys to play with once in a while. The likelihood just drops considerably)
which is why right now i pretty much put a pause on the other franchises I plan on watching. I'm genuinely gripping onto Saw like someone is tryin to take it from me.
and then sometimes im like "haha yeah right. ill be fine. ill eat my shoe if my brain latches to this" and then put on the movie and by the credits roll im a new person (yes thats what happened with Saw. I really had no idea.)
this is also why im terrified of even just "checking out" things that have, like, a toxic fanbase or something, because i cant stop a new phase from happening if it does. and its really hard to keep it to myself, fuck
(do u know how mad i was when i realized i was attaching to hoffman the evil dirty cop??? i was so scared of drawing him, dudes. but thankfully everyones been cool abt it and we're all very aware of his awfulness & we have fun w it)
and every time my brain changes and i do get obsessed with some new thing, i get really scared and worried and hope I dont bother everyone who followed me for something else :(((( and yet, every time, im absolutely floored by how many people choose to tolerate my newest nonsense and stick around anyway
anyway ive lost the plot of what point i was making here OH YEAH thank you!

A - Ships that you currently like a lot. its obvious that im in a grimm fixation rn, so i have to say nick/monroe as a romantic ship (or nick/monroe/rosalee), and the whole gang as a platonic relationship. For SGA, i'm always a mcshep fan but i honestly enjoy any pairing of AR1. Anyone that has followed me for an extended period of time knows that im a mcdanno (H50) and leverage ot3 truther as well.

Z - Just ramble about something fan-related, go go go! im so cranky rn about the lack of depiction of trauma/mental illness/neurodivergence/etc in fandoms where its to be expected. like with Grimm rn, you give Nick PTSD and sensory enhancements but then suddenly forget about them?? that's not how that works! Or why is it always just hinted at that characters are ND? why is it so hard to just be like 'yeah no x has ADHD (or whatever)'? i want to be able to actually have complex/tough/interesting/etc protags that are ALSO neurodiverse. if we're all reading John as having ADHD (SGA) or Parker being autistic (leverage) anyways, why can't these things just be intentionally part of the character

As for the seb thoughts, this ask is in response to a picture I reblogged of a pretty blond sub kneeling with a collar and leash which of course caused lemon to go insane.

Maybe, you actually asked seb to kneel for you? And like, you expect him to kneel with his back to you, as he usually does.
But this time, he just feels so nice and safe and he really wants to keep on looking at you cause you're the one who makes him feel so nice and safe! He can't be blamed for that, he just wants to look at you!!
So when he gets down on his knees, he turns to face you and rests his chin on your knee, looking up at you with a small smile on his face.
Of course you don't berate him for that, if he wants to look up at you while he's kneeling, then he's more than welcome to.
Maybe you play with his hair? And then let your hand slip lower until he can suckle on your fingers? Then he's just as happy as can be.
And on your lap!! Yes!!
You don't like to let him kneel for too long, because you can't risk hurting his knees.
But when you ask him to get up, he starts whining and even looks a little teary eyed. Because he just feels so good right now and he isnt ready for that to end. He wants to stay right where he is.
When you realise why he's getting distressed, you say, "I'm sorry darling, but we cant have you hurting your knees from kneeling for too long. But, why don't you get up here and come sit on my lap?"
He gets up then, because the idea of sitting on your lap is enticing enough to get him to stop kneeling.
And then he's so happy!!!
He feels so safe like that, curled up in your lap. He can hide form the world there. And then you grab a blanket and wrap it around his shoulders and it's even BETTER then.

A couple of thoughts about platonic love. Personally, for me, their intimate intimacy does not fit into the framework of a standard friendship, but I like to see their love as platonic. I think that Johnny is one of those men who first fall in love with the body and build a relationship on sexual attraction. And with Vee, the exact opposite happened. He knew her for the first time, loved her as a person, loved her soul. And then he found himself wanting to touch her and make love to her.
I will say, I obviously ship and see these two together romantically. So, I interpret their interactions, and closeness romantically. I've even fallen into the trap of yelling hOW DARE CDPR TELL ME THIS IS PURELY PLATONIC. But, I went into this game wanting to romance Johnny. I wasn't even on the hype train for this game until probably a month or two max before its actual release, because I saw a gifset of some promo material or something that had V calling Johnny a dick and him calling V a cunt. And that made me instantly ship them and be a Johnny simp, cause I'm a slut for that dynamic. So, like, all of that largely impacted my view of the game and their relationship.
But, something I think that is important that I try to always keep in perspective is that while V has some groundwork and characteristics in game; they are largely an oc insert, especially in fandom as many to most of us disregard canon that conflicts with who our V's are.
Which is what I fucking love most about this fandom. Im someone who loves OC x Canon, thats been my way of enjoying fandom since I was a kid. So, games like this that have sort of bred a very oc centric fandom are my bread and butter.
There is no V exactly like my V. No V exactly like yours. There are V's of every race, gender, sexuality. There are V's with vastly differing personalities and backgrounds. And with that much variety, comes with it changes in ideas and interpretations of dynamics and relationships.
Some V's end up in a romantic relationship with Johnny, like mine, yours, and other silverv shippers. And even within that parameter there are immense differences in how people see it playing out. I absolutely agree Johnny usually builds physical intimacy and focuses on the sexual and not the emotional side. And for me solid romantic chemistry starts off best with solid platonic chemistry. That being said, my V and Johnny indulge in casual sex and are physically attracted and drawn together by lust more than anything before they ever really see each other as friends. Then they start to kinda vibe and oh maybe they're not so bad and become friends and maybe theres something more...; then Johnny fucks up and with all trust broken sexual contact is taken completely off the table and they're back to square one. Then with him committed to being a better person; they rebuild that friendship without the sexual component, start to each realize they have romantic feelings, and pine for one another convinced the other couldn't possibly want more. Then eventually slip back into "friends" with benefits, each thinking thats all the other person wants. And its all a wholeass mess cause they're dumb.
And some people's V, arent romantic with Johnny. Its platonic through and through, they care strongly for one another are there for one another, won't only the best for each other without a drop of romantic feelings. Maybe their V isnt into men, or isnt specifically into Johnny. They just don't vibe that way.
For some V's maybe the feelings are one sided and unrequited.
Maybe to them their V loves Johnny but he loves Rogue, or is still consumed with the loss of Alt, or has unresolved feelings for Kerry he never worked through in life.
Maybe, Johnny fell in love with V, the person who gave him a second chance, the person who's stood by him though everything. And their V just really cares for their friend, wants to see him grow for the better. And Johnny has to learn to process and accept that.
And some V's fuckin hate Johnny. Some V's dont give him that second chance, dont seek to help him change, and just want this asshole out of their head so they can run off to be with the person they do love.
And I agree they dont fit the traditional standard of a friendship. And they don't fit the traditional standard of a romantic relationship. They dont fit the traditional standard of any relationship. Just going off canon and general V, the nature of how they're connected means their relationship is inherently different from any traditional counterpart of what they have. Johnny and V's relationship, however you choose to interpret it is completely unique to them.

Hi, sorry I sometimes have problems with my English and I tried to understand as best as I could what Tumblr Plus is, but there are still things I don't understand. If you don't mind, I'd like to tell you what I understand and ask some things I'm curious about. Can you correct me if there is something I'm wrong? You absolutely don't have to.
Creators can make money and we have to pay a certain price per month to see their special posts. Do we have to pay for each account separately or once a month to Tumblr? (Not that I'm going to pay, I'm just confused)
It's not okay to make money from fanfictions, but Tumblr still offers such an option. Won't they sue for copyrights? I don't know if it's okay to make money from gifs and fanart, but if not, why are they doing this Tumblr plus thing?
What is checkmark? Does it show you're popular/famous like on Instagram and Twitter, or does it show you have a paid account?
It's up to us to chose make money, right? (I guess it applies to users who have reached a certain follower. But still, it's up to us) Is our content at risk even if we choose not to make money?
I saw your post about the need to back up our content. Why would our content at risk with removal if we're not going to make money from it? They don't really sue, do they?

Hello! No worries at all my dear anon, I’m more than happy to answer your questions to the best of my knowledge. I’ll answer your questions in the order you asked them for better understanding :)
A creator choosing to turn on Tumblr+ would put all of their posts behind a monthly payment. This works like Patreon — you pay each blogger separately that you subscribe to, but you pay through tumblr (a horrible idea as your credit card information WILL be vulnernable to being stolen). So for example: if five blogs have Tumblr+ for $9.99, you will have to pay them Each 9.99 every month (a total of almost $50.00 a month) to see their posts.
You are correct, it is Not okay legally to make money off of fanfiction. We can sneak under the radar if one or two people get away with it, but on a massive scale like tumblr encouraging thousands of bloggers to make money off their fanfic/fanart/gifsets, they WILL sue for copyright. We have no idea why tumblr is encouraging this when they know the law.
The checkmark isnt actually a checkmark, it is a little lock near the bloggers url. This only means that the blogger has turned on Tumblr+ and is making you pay to see their posts.
It is up to us to decide if we want to turn on Tumblr+. Follower count has nothing to do with it, it isn’t reserved only for people with large follower counts.
Your content WILL be at risk even if you don’t sign up, because the lawyers will be going after Tumblr as a whole, not the individual bloggers. And if they go after Tumblr, the entire website could likely be shut down.
Trust me, they really do sue. They really do shut down blogs and websites for violating these copyright laws. The only protection we had against the lawyers was because no one was making money off the content. This removes that only protection. If it threatens their money, they WILL fight back at the platform. I have seen it in the past and I know they are not above doing it again — in fact, Tumblr is practically daring them to.
I don’t say all this to do anything other than give you guys the opportunity to seriously give feedback to tumblr and tell them how bad of an idea this is. And, to give everyone a chance to protect yourselves and your content.

I think it might be my use of colour and i try my best to make a lot of my edits conceptual.

@mylover jerr is just so talent i love her editing style so much. her style is just always evolving! she always has the prettiest edits
@redutation giusy is bringing some new ideas to the editing community. especially in terms of edits, her recent edits shes been making recently are so new and fresh i love them
24: What's your step by step? How do you organise your editing process?
sometimes ill write or draw the idea in my phone notes for when i can come back to it. and then when i have the chance i look for the celeb photo i want to use and once i find that i just wing it from there. not very organised at all.

i guess i dont really think about the characters appearances that often? i havent read the books or anything like that, ive just watched the movies. i like the gifsets where people change uma to different colors, like purple instead of blue or something like that. but idk i dont pay much attention to the costumes n stuff. i think every characters hair looked best in the third movie,,
ooh okay hopes for my present? im not sure but lemme list some of my favorite things about descendants.
i think the thing that ultimately got me into descendants was how gay it is honestly? d2 is my favorite bc of all the malvie content, and the introduction of harry and uma who are both gay disasters lbr. and the third one is my least favorite bc of how obvious it was that they were trying to undo all the accidental gay shit they did in the second movie 😂
my other favorite thing about the franchise is the way (in at least the first two movies (i like to ignore the third movie completely)) it explores the concept of assimilation, and the conflict that ensues when a marginalized group of people cant conform to the norms of the dominant culture. because of an institutional barrier put in place by the people in power, the isle kids grew up poorer and with less opportunities than their auradon prep counterparts. but taking them out of their neighborhood isnt enough to “fix” them, and i especially love that the main lesson of the second movie was mal learning to accept her roots and embrace where she came from (saying “i will always be the girl from the isle”). i love that the resolution in the second movie involved evie fighting to uplift other kids who grew up in their neighborhood. i love the statements that these plotlines make about socioeconomic disparity and for me as a person of color, i like to look at it as an allegory for racial disparity as well.
and then my next favorite thing is a pretty popular one for descendants fans: the found family!!! the way that the vks are pretty much the only disney protagonists with unloving parents. the very subtle but impactful abuse plotline, and the statement that is made when they finally choose to defy their parents instead of being stuck in the cycle! the way they band together to love and support each other!!! i really love the core four, and i wouldve loved for uma to be able to join into that dynamic as well. the end of d2 was so emotional in the way that she saw a hand reaching out to her but couldnt bring herself to accept the invitation. umas relationship the the assimilation plotline is important to me bc she is so noticeably loyal to her home and her culture, even when given the opportunity to join the flashier, “better” side. she is tough and has a hard time accepting affection as a result of her upbringing. i wish she had a more prominent role in d3 but instead it had to be the mal show bc i wouldve liked to see her be rewarded more for the ways she consciously stepped outside of her comfort zone to work together and help the others.
idk what im trying to say anymore but!!! im very excited to keep talking to you, i dont have any specific gift ideas but just know that my favorite characters are uma and evie so anything featuring one/both of them would be awesome!
ALSO i recently started a tag on my blog for things that i care a lot about and theres not a ton of descendants in there BUT you can find info on like,, my favorite songs and stuff if thats useful. maybe something in there can give you some ideas. the tag is #things that matter most

I think I might have RB-ed this and mentioned how much I adore this coloring. But like. I REALLY like this coloring. The dimmed lighting, muted greens and orange tones - on DK??? Stunning. I could genuinely stare at this forever, it reminds me of the swampy matcha I drink every morning LOL. I mean swampy in the best way possible, I love the swamp.

I ADORE GIFSETS LIKE THESE and lord I’m sure it must take forever. This panel size and orientation is among my favorites. I have yet to try it out myself because it requires a good eye and mentality lol. So when I see it, I thoroughly appreciate it. As usual, the coloring is LOVELY. Something is also so satisfying about the text placement and color. Like when I look at this entire gif post, my eyes are not overwhelmed by the amount of movement. And I think it’s because of the way the text sort of anchors the eye? It’s REALLY cool honestly. And I mean the actual content is GREAT. DK is deserving of such a thorough and enjyoable gifset. I think this might be my favorite DK gifset...ever? BUT HAVE I RB-ED IT???
5 Year Anniversary
LISTEN TO ME. THIS IS SO GOOD! I LOVE that polaroid vibe. I’ve seen a few gfx makers do it and every time - it looks SO good. It’s also one of those concepts that are so easy to customize. And the great part about it is that it can be layered so well with text to give it even more meaning. So it’s PERFECT that you chose this concept for an anniversary gfx! YOU USED SO MANY PICTURES!!! INCREDIBLE!!! That’s a lot of effort and I appreciate you taking so much time to make such a worthwhile gfx, honey! I love how you bypassed the linebreaks by having the panels mesh into one another. Fuck linebreaks. Anyways, I also adore the middle gfx breaking up the standard taped polaroids. The stringed polaroid idea is so clever and also gives such a nice width to the gfx - so that they eye isnt just going top to bottom. With the middle gfx - the eye goes side to side and I LOVE things like that.

The caption says it all. I honestly can’t even form words on why I like this so much. It’s one of those gifs that captures a moment so lovely that I just want to stare at it and enjoy feeling happy from it - rather than putting it into concrete words that would describe it. #i have a lot of gifset ideas which is exciting but i'm gonna wait till next month to do them cause that's when i'll finally have photoshop!!#the ones i've made so far arent made on there that's why the quality isnt the best but if you've rb'd a gifset of mine tysm!!#i can't wait to be able to play around more with bigger gifs and coloring that'll be fun#v exciting and once i get my gifsets looking to the goal i want them to look like i'll start taking requests which will also be fun!#i think i'll set apart a day just for making gifs then post them throughout the week so there's content every day#and i have ideas for edits/gifs/etc we can do as a fandom like sam appreciation week so that this fandom doesnt go silent for months til s2#but i gotta colaborate that w ppl so if that's somthing you'd be interested in lemme know ! idk what exactly it would be yet#but it's something i wanna in the future that i think would be cool
