Explanations for why I did the Cinnamon Roll Meme this way:
Looks like a cinnamon roll, is actually a cinnamon roll — Agumon, coz he's an adorable little dinosaur more likely to try the diplomatic approach than to jump immediately into fighting; Piyomon, coz she's an adorable pink bird who gives emotional support to her friends; Tachikawa Mimi, coz (especially after her growth as a person) she's a compassionate person; Kamiya "Kari" Hikari, coz she puts others first to the point of getting ill and/or injured solely coz she wants to not be a burden to them; Wallace "Willis" Williams, coz they cares 'bout the safety of random strangers & tries to solve difficult situations alone to avoid putting others in danger; Motomiya Daisuke, coz he refuses to harm his friends and he'll befriend you even if you've done something bad since he knows you genuinely regret what you did; Hida Iori, coz she's a semi-pacifist who despises killing & lying.
Looks like a cinnamon roll, could actually kill you — Kamiya "Tai" Taichi, coz he's an adorable goofball who (usually) doesn't hesitate to jump into danger to save his friends & has no problem killing anyone threatening them (especially if Kari is the friend whose life is under threat since she's his biological fullsister); Takenouchi Sora, coz when she was age 11-12 it was damned clear in canon that she could easily assassinate people if she wanted to & everyone are lucky that she's genuinely nice; Gomamon, coz he's an adorable goofball who nevertheless can (with his friends' help) kill a Champion Level Digimon as a Rookie; Patamon, coz he's 1 of the most adorable Rookie Level Digimon ever yet also a major powerhouse upon digivolving; Ichijouji Ken, coz he literally tried to murder a fellow human when he was the Digimon Kaiser/Digimon Emperor and even after becoming a good person he had no problem with sending a majorly evil Digimon (who was being basically a terrorist) into the Dark Ocean yet he's still a genuinely nice kid; Inoue Miyako, coz she's a nerdy & genuinely nice kid yet doesn't hesitate to smack an Ultimate Level Digimon with a skateboard and (despite initially hesitating) is willing to do whatever it takes to get rid of enemies who've proven they're willing to slaughter innocent people.
Looks like they could kill you, is a cinnamon roll — Gabumon, coz his teeth and horn make him seem the scariest of the 8 original Digimon partners yet he's also the gentlest of them all; Izumi "Izzy" Kōshirō, coz anyone aware of Izzy's badass computer skills would be scared of him (I certainly was as a kid & still am as an adult despite my immense respect for his skills in both childhood & adulthood), but Izzy actually is a good kid; Kido Joe, coz he's the oldest DigiDestined and literally throws himself on Digimon in attempts to protect his friends, so you'd think he's some badass combatant yet actually Joe is the team's medic & a very responsible person; Takaishi "Keru" Takeru, coz he doesn't hesitate to punch the face of anyone intentionally messing with Darkness & sometimes is abrasive when he talks to people (even when they're his loved ones), so (similarly to Joe) it's easy to assume he's a violent person 'til you get to see his soft side; Wormmon, coz he's an insect Digimon that looks far more scary than cute yet he's as gentle as Gabumon; Hawkmon, coz he looks like a typical bird of prey yet in personality is more of a polite & caring older brother instead of a carnivore; Armadimon/Armadillomon, coz he is an armadillo dinosaur who looks scary yet in personality is simply a goofball.
Looks like they could kill you, could actually kill you — Ishida "Mat" Yamato, coz this DigiDestined by far scares me the most (except Ken was scarier during his time as the Digimon Kaiser/Digimon Emperor) due to his explicit willingness to kill his enemies & ('til he grew as a person) attack his friends making his aloofness feel more threatening than make him seem unapproachable; Tentomon, coz he's a giant bug whose digivolved forms are even bigger & scarier bugs and he once destroyed an entire pocket dimension as AtlerKabuterimon/MegaKabuterimon; Palmon, coz she's a plant lizard with poison attacks; Tailmon/Gatomon, coz she's introduced punching the snot out of 6 fellow Champion Digimon much bigger than her & the 2 being each other's fated adventuring platonic partners is the only reason she didn't murder Kari; Lopmon & Terriermon, coz the twins' horns mitigate their adorable appearance into seeming less approachable plus Lopmon spends most of his screentime as Wendimon plus Terriermon gains gun arms whenever she digivolves into her Champion form; Veemon, coz. he's a junvenile wingless dragon who'll headbutt the snot out of you before digivolving into 1 of his bigger forms which have very sharp claws & teeth.

Yule in the house
Prompt: Anticipation

Windy was practically vibrating. Kouji leaned against the doorframe and watched her. She was singing, but none of the words made sense. There was dough on the table infront of her and she was kneading it a little too intensely.
”♫ Tsu tsu nori tsu mori hikari no wakama ♫”
Kouji raised an eyebrow and shook his head.
”Is that… Jingle bells?” he asked.
Windy turned around, her cheeks red. She pressed her back against the counter. All of her had somehow gotten covered in flour and Kouji snorted.
”What are you doing?” he continued.
”N-nothing!”
”uh-huh.”
Kouji walked up to Windy and she quickly tried to hide the dough. She shooed at Kouji.
”Can’t you see I’m working here?”
Kouji rolled his eyes again.
”Why are you working? We need to get back to the digital world.”
”Nu-huh”, Windy turned around. ”I’m on a break today.”
”You can’t just take a break.”
Kouji crossed his arms over his chest. Windy stuck her tongue out towards him.
”Go bother Matt instead.”
Windy rarely called him Matt nowadays. Kouji blinked. Had they had a fight? Was that why Windy was vibrating?
”The two of you… okay?”
”Why wouldn’t we be?”
Kouji couldn’t see her face and didn’t know if she was sarcastic or earnest. He shrugged. It wasn’t his place to meddle.
”♫ Ki i yoshi. Ko no yoru ♫”, Windy started singing again.
”...I’m getting you a book with the lyrics for your birthday”, Kouji said.
”I would actually love that”, Windy admitted.
Kouji shook his head, patted Windy’s back and left her in the kitchen. He went upstairs, found Yamato in his bedroom. Yamato was sitting crosslegged on the bed with a book on his lap.
”Is Windy okay?” Kouji asked.
Yamato finished reading the page, put a bookmark in the book and put it to the side. He looked at Kouji.
”Why wouldn’t she be?”
”She’s behaving weirdly. And she called you Matt.”
Yamato grimaced, then let out a sigh. Kouji sat down on the chair by the desk.
”Also she’s taking a vacation from saving the digital world today.”
Yamato glanced at the calendar on the wall, then nodded.
”Yeah”, he said. ”Today’s the yule-special.”
”...what?”
”Well, it would be if we were in another anime series.”
Kouji must have looked confused because Yamato laughed.
”It’s yule”, he said as if that explained everything. ”Christmas.”
”...that does explain the butchered songs.”
”Oh no”, Yamato facepalmed. ”Was she trying to sing in Japanese again?”
Kouji nodded. Yamato stood up and left the room.
”I’ve told you not to sing in our language until you’ve learned it!” he called down the stairs.
”You have no power here, Gandalf the gray!” Windy yelled back.
”I am going to tickle you!” Yamato threatened.
Kouji stared at Yamato. Windy laughed in the kitchen.
”I’d like to see you try!”
”I’m coming to tickle you now!”
Yamato ran down the stairs. Kouji had no idea what he was supposed to do. He heard Windy shriek in the kitchen, something exploded. Yamato let out a string of curse words and then Windy shrieked again.
”You’re going to the lake”, Yamato said.
”Let me down!”
”I’m letting you down in the lake.”
Kouji started walking down the stairs. He saw Yamato come out of the kitchen, carrying Windy like a sack of potatoes.
”My powers only grow stronger in the lake”, Windy tried to threaten.
”Your hypothermia grows stronger in it”, Yamato argued back and kicked the front door open.
Kouji reached the floor as Yamato walked outside. He followed them, heard both of them shriek and ran to the door. They sat in the snow, laughing. Windy threw a handful of snow at Yamato and he made a snowball.
”You two are idiots”, Kouji said.
”We are”, Windy admitted with a laugh. ”Happy yule!”
”I didn’t have time to get you a present”, Yamato said and stuck his tongue out. ”I can help with the meatballs though.”
”I’d love help with the meatballs, I hate making them. It’s so sticky.”
”So…” Kouji started. ”...nothing’s wrong?”
Windy looked at him, raised an eyebrow.
”Why would anything be wrong?”
Kouji huffed and pulled his shoulders up.
”Well, I’m not used to your weird traditions”, he said.
”They’re not…” Windy started but changed her mind. ”Yeah, okay, they’re a little weird.”
”Why are we even celebrating yule? It’s for couples”, Kouji continued.
”It’s for family here”, Windy said. ”And I don’t really have anyone except you guys.”
She stood up, dusted the snow off her apron. Smiled at both of them.
”Want to help me with the gingerbread cookies?”
”That’s what you were making?” Kouji asked. ”Why were you so secretive about that?”
Kouji gestured at Windy, then shook his head. Yamato stood up as well.
”Never mind”, Kouji decided. It wasn’t worth it. ”I can help, it sounds fun.”
”I was just reading anyway”, Yamato said and also dusted the snow off his clothes. ”I’ll make sure you don’t burn anything.”
”I’m not Mats”, Windy said with a laugh.
Yamato also laughed and ruffled her hair.
”No, but you’re as much of a disaster in the kitchen as Kouji is. No more singing in Japanese though.”
”Fine”, Windy rolled her eyes. ”I’ll go with Finnish instead.”
”That’s even worse.”
Yamato put his face in his hands and shook his head. Windy smiled and patted his back. Kouji scratched the back of his neck. Windy grabbed his hand and leaned against him.
”I really thought you remembered about yule since last year”, Windy admitted. ”Sorry if I worried you.”
”Everything was pretty hectic back then. What with Mindhunter and the kidnappings and everything.”
”Not that this year is much better”, Windy frowned. ”We need to tell the Shadow world to stop being weird over yule.”
Yamato gave Windy a shove and she let go of Kouji.
”Let me know how that goes”, Yamato said with a laugh. ”Let’s get to work.”
Windy smiled and disappeared inside again. Yamato shook his head and Kouji looked at him.
”It feels weird”, he said. ”Christmas is still for couples.”
”Yeah”, Yamato agreed, despite the number of yules he must have shared with Windy before. ”She likes us though.”
Kouji blushed and looked away.
”It’s not like I like her or anything though.”
”Same”, Yamato agreed and headed inside. ”No one here likes anyone else. Good thing we cleared that up.”
”I love both of you!” Windy called from the kitchen. ”Let’s get this yule started!”

Until I came across a stack of recent collections at my local library, I hadn't read any Usagi Yojimbo for a few years -- I knew I'd missed all of the recent full-color collections, but not that I'd also missed a few from the end of the series at Dark Horse, back when it was still published in black-and-white. If you haven't read any for a while, either, the series is as good as ever, and as much as I liked the old uncolored books the newer collections are fabulous, too. These are the three I liked best.
Usagi Yojimbo: Mysteries (Volume 32) by Stan Sakai. Introduction by Yuki Matsuzaki. Dark Horse, 2018. 9781506705842. 180pp plus a cover/pinup gallery. Contains #159-165 of UY Volume 3.
Usagi comes across a dead, high-ranking samurai in the woods, and finds a little girl hiding nearby. On his way to take her to Inspector Ishida, they're accosted by some samurai who want the girl and even go so far as to attack Usagi when he's buying her a meal. It's a huge mistake and only the beginning of a larger mystery that starts with finding the girl's father's confession. Thieves Kiyoko and Kitsune make an appearance, and of course my favorite scenes are the "The Body in the Library" chapters.
Usagi Yojimbo: Homecoming (Volume 35) by Stan Sakai, colors by Tom Luth. Introduction by Peach Momoko. IDW, 2021. 9781684058020. Contains #8-14 of UY Volume 4.
This volume starts with a graphic lesson on how tatami mats are made, which plays into the plot. Usagi heads to the north province where he grew up. He crosses paths with samurai transporting new tatami mats for Lord Gifu, who will use them as part of a tea ceremony for an emissary of the shogun. When the samurai are attacked, Usagi helps defend the tatami from the ninja. Later Usagi is pursued because he continues to wear the mon of Lord Mifune, which begins a journey to his home village, Mariko (the woman he loved), and Kenichi, his childhood friend and rival. Katsuichi-sensei (Usagi's teacher) and Jotaro, who is secretly now Usagi's son, also make appearances. The best part of the color version: seeing the blue Usagi wears during the fight scenes.

Usagi seeks his other master, a one-handed tengu named Sojobo. There's a flashback to how Usagi earned the right to be trained by him, and, in the present day, as you might guess from the title, Usagi finds himself in the midst of a war between supernatural creatures. Toward the end of the story he meets someone from his past, from just as he fled the battlefield with Lord Mifune's head. And then Usagi meets Yukichi, who remembers when their paths crossed years ago.

- Slim J was hoisted up for the Bishop Bomb, but JeeVeS Kay grabbed on to Slim J's ankle and pulled him free from Bishop's grasp. Slim J and JeeVeS charged at Bishop but he back body dropped them both over the top rope and to the floor. Sonny Kiss ran at Joshua, but Sonny was soon lifted up for a Bishop Bomb and sent crashing into Slim J and JeeVeS on the outside. Trench applied the inverted full nelson on Big Dan Champion, but Champion broke the hold by driving Trench into the corner with an avalanche splash. Big Dan whipped Trench to the center of the ring where Hyan hit him with the Beauty Sleep and got the pinfall.

Starboy Charlie and Marcus Mathers vs. The Southern 6 (Kerry Morton and Silas Mason)
- Silas Mason went for the Thrillride on Starboy Charlie, but Charlie countered with a crucifix. Mason kicked out but ate a superkick from Marcus Mathers which sent Silas tumbling to the floor where Mathers took him out with a dive. Kerry Morton tried to throw a fireball at Starboy Charlie, but Charlie saw it coming and stomped on Kerry's foot. The delay caused the fireball to erupt in Morton's own hand. Starboy Charlie hit the Gotch piledriver on Kerry Morton and covered him for a three count.
Winners: Starboy Charlie and Marcus Mathers

Giant Baba Yaga and Fuego Del Sol vs. Black Generation International (Kaito Ishida and Flamita)
- Fuego Del Sol tried for the tornado DDT on Flamita, but Flamita pushed Fuego off and right into a single arm tiger suplex from Kaito Ishida. Giant Baba Yaga went to break up the hold but Titus Alexander had made his way to ringside and he hooked Baba around the ankle. This distracted Baba long enough to allow Flamita to hold her at bay as Ishida got the pinfall.

The 37KAMIINA (Yuki Ueno/MAO/Toy Kojima) vs. folkstyle (Shaw Mason/Tim Bosby/Nic Nemeth)
- Tim Bosby went for the rip cord lariat on Yuki Ueno, but Yuki Ueno countered with the WR. Nic Nemeth broke up the pin and soon after tried for the Fameasser on MAO. MAO avoided the move and when Nemeth landed in a seated position on the mat he was met by a Meteora from Toy Kojima. MAO springboarded off the top rope with a Phoenix Splash and the 2023 Trios Kingdom winners were again victorious.

SHIMMER Tag Team Championship Tournament - Finals
Stephanie Vaquer and La Catalina vs. Queen Aminata and Raychell Rose
- Stephanie Vaquer tried for the package piledriver on Raychell Rose but Queen Aminata made the save with a jumping hip attack which propelled Rose forward into a rolling cradle on Vaquer who could not kick out in time.
Winners and NEW SHIMMER Tag Team Champions: Queen Aminata and Raychell Rose

Coal Miner's Glove Match
Eddie Kingston vs. Titus Alexander
- Eddie Kingston climbed to the top rope and retrieved the coal miner's glove off a pole. On his descent Titus Alexander connected with a dropkick to Kingston's back which sent him crashing out of the ring to the apron before falling to the floor. Black Generation International made their way to ringside but referee Scarlette Donovan intercepted them and threatened to stop the match. What Scarlette didn't see was on the other side of the ring where someone hopped the railing.
- Chris Hero, Kingston's long time rival, attacked Eddie on the outside. Hero connected with a big boot and removed the coal miner's glove from Eddie's hand. Hero put on the glove and went for a rolling elbow but Kingston ducked and hit an exploder suplex to Chris Hero on the floor. A dazed Kingston pulled himself into the ring where Titus quickly seized the advantage and hit the Chaos Theory on Kingston, but King kicked out at two. Chris Hero tossed the coal miner's glove to Titus Alexander who put it on. Titus went for the spinning backfist on Kingston with the glove, but Eddie ducked and countered with a backdrop driver. Kingston grabbed the coal miner's glove and put it on before drilling Titus with a Sliding D using the glove and Eddie made the cover.
Winner: Eddie Kingston

Bleach
Ichigo Kurosaki is a forceful, instigating teen and has the unique capacity to see spirits. Ichigo Kurosaki is a conventional high schooler — until his family is gone after by a Hollow, a bad soul that looks to gobble up human spirits. It is then that he meets a Soul Reaper named Rukia Kuchiki, who gets harmed while shielding Ichigo’s family from the attacker. To save his family, Ichigo acknowledges Rukia’s proposal of taking her powers and turns into a Soul Reaper subsequently.
Notwithstanding, as Rukia can’t recover her powers, Ichigo is given the overwhelming undertaking of chasing down the Hollows that plague their town. Nonetheless, he isn’t the only one in that frame of mind, as he is subsequently joined by his companions — schoolmates Orihime Inoue, Yasutora Sado, and Uryuu Ishida — who each have their own special capacities

Shieikan Dojo and vicinity

Legend
The main building in the Kora mansion. The Kora family succeeded the carpenter who undertook construction work for the shogunate for generations, and was given a mansion as salary. It is unknown how Shusuke turned it into his dojo.
Training hall. The dojo is said to be about 30 tatami mats in size. There is a window facing the road, and those who are interested in swordsmanship can take a peek from here.
Gokenin mansion. The house on the left side of the entrance is a rental house. The poor Gokenins of the Hatamoto helped their households by building rental houses and growing fruit trees and vegetables in the garden.
Hatamoto mansion. The gate of the lower Hatamoto is tiled, but there is no gatekeeper.
Hijikata Toshizo, who had been practicing swordsmanship while selling Ishida Sanyaku medicine, began his career in Tennen Rishin-ryu when he was 25 years old in 1859 (Ansei 6). The dojo was in the corner of Ichigaya Kora Mansion (Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo). Many low-ranking samurai residences gathered around this area at the end of Edo, and there was a townhouse surrounded by them. Perhaps he wasn't so busy with all the small shops with narrow frontages. However, there is Monzen-cho within a few minutes' walk, and Kagurazaka and Naito Shinjuku are also nearby. And even though he was dedicated to merchant houses all over Edo City, the samurai town would have been dazzling and uplifting to the eyes of Toshizo, who was walking in the countryside such as Tama.
It was in the tenth year of Tenpo (1839) that Kondo Isami's father, Shusuke, opened a dojo here. Since then, even after more than 20 years, compared to the dojos of Chiba Shusaku, Shunzou Momonoi, and Saito Yakuro, it was lightly regarded as a countryside swordsman.
However, Isami, Toshizo, Okita Souji and other teachers and pupils did not care about their reputation in the world. He was working hard to practice the sword far more practically than they were, hoping that one day he would come out to the world with the power of the sword.

石田お寿司 4/10/21 Dream Illustration Summary
- He just woke up from sleep 20 mins before he started streaming. He’s still sleepy.
- He dreamed of Choujin X, so he drew what he saw in his dream.
- He did the stream so he could watch it in case he forgot.
- Simon was on duty. He went to a red-light district kind of place.
- There was a counter near the entrance, where people rent prostitutes.
- Simon paid a large amount of money & said something, which Ishida forgot. The shopkeeper also said something to Simon, but Ishida couldn’t remember what it was.
- Then, he was led inside by a woman in kimono, whom Ishida wasn’t sure whether she’s a prostitute or not.
- There were rooms across them and they were arranged like the ones in capsule hotel. Over there, a lot of prostitutes gathered to see Simon since he’s young and good-looking and it was rare for them to get customers like him. They all went wild seeing him.
- He couldn’t remember what was on the left side, but inside, there was something like a feast. He later covered that area with wooden wall since it’s supposed to be an enclosed space.
- Then, there’s stairs up ahead, leading to the next floor.
- The hallway they’re in was supposed to be a bit steep and there were tatami mats laid down in between the hallway and the rooms across.
- The scene was at night.
- Then, the woman Simon rented came. The woman was surprised to see him since he wasn’t like the usual customers. Other prostitutes were peering at them.
- After that, Simon and the woman entered a room on the second floor, where they probably would sleep together. The room looked more like a bar rather than the usual tatami room. It looked like an open room.
- There’s a sunken kotatsu in the middle of the room where they could eat and drink. Simon was sitting on one side and the woman was standing on the other side.
(t/n: Sunken kotatsu is a type of kotatsu where there’s a space under the kotatsu to put your feet.)
- Ishida’s dream was up until this point, but he pretty much knew where the story would go from here.
- There were also rooms filled with people having their fun time on the opposite side.
- Simon was alone, but Tokio might be accompanying him.
- This illustration was basically his dream diary.
- The first time he dreamed of Choujin X was about Simon as well.
- He said Posuke Demizu, the illustrator of The Promised Neverland might be good at drawing this kind of dream illustration. Ishida has been a long-time fan of her illustrations.
- He said even if he doesn’t pick up your comments during his stream, it’d be a great help to him if you comment. He did watch back a few of his streams and read comments he didn’t get to read.
- He wrote a few dialogues that he remembered.
- He couldn’t really recall the colours and the lightings of the place, so he just coloured it according to the mood.

Kitsune! Miya Osamu x Inari Shrine Maiden! Reader (4/10)

a/n: so it’s been a while, sorry, so i made it a little longer + ty for your patience + i hope u like it so far!
*any occasion for offering thanks and praise to a deity at a shrine.
*is a zigzag-shaped paper streamer

With each passing day, you visited the inari shrine for masuri*. Every time you are met with the stern but welcoming gazed of its owner. The once exhausting steps now became manageable enough, it doesn’t feel like the incline of an expansive hill. Maybe it was the want, the desire, to steadily lift your feet up the stoned-stairs.
After a week of light conversation about what Osamu does as kami and your duties as the Ishida family’s shrine maiden. It became routine for you and Osamu to just sit in the large area in the front part of the shrine to just talk as he ate.
Osamu was a messy eater, always humming at your flavorful food or acknowledging your talks. This has also evolved to your wipping the grains of rice from the corners of his mouth and robes; surprisingly he welcomed your gentle gestures. Those sharp grey-eyes were always on your delicate hands, wondering about it’s comforting warmth. You on the other hand, kept your form silent, afraid of your thoughts on his build and encapsulating arms to be said aloud. However, the topic of why they continued this odd mutual relation was never brought up.
Probably because I don’t want to say goodbye, yet.
It was a few days until the autumn festival. Obaa-san and the other monks were hastily checking their supplies and decorations. People from across the region will be attending this festival. Your Ojii-san’s famous performances, the sweet-n-savory snack vendors, and Obaa-san’s acclaimed decorations. Massive group effort made these seasonal festivals memorable, but the small details into each area tied everything together.
Obaa-san always says that this festival is also for the god that blesses the land we live on and for the people to continue to give back.
Tonight has been much more busy. Especially with the prospects of an upcoming storm sweeping across the land. Heavy rain and billowing winds are to be expected. It’s good for the rice fields, but not for the rest of the town since it resides on more flatter land. At the ushering calls of Obaa-san in the middle of your tea session with Ojii-san, you brought up Osamu’s offering earlier to avoid the possible weather.
The steps up to the shrine became a constant struggle. Below, shide* on the torii barely made a rustle. Now, you were doing your best to hold onto the encased tray with your arms on top and below it. Harsh winds thrashing your once neatly tied hair side-to-side, making it harder to see and comprehend where you’re going. The growing volume of the howls through the branches with the whacking of tree branches drowned out your own thoughts.
The only way to get to your destination is to tuck your head and face the old stone beneath the clacking wooden getas.
Yards above, the grey-haired man was patiently waiting, he sensed your approach earlier, but was pacing by the entrance since he could no longer tell where you were exactly. He knew you could handle yourself, who else could talk back to a kitsune. Let alone have once pulled on their ears for criticizing their grandmother’s cooking.
YN’s taste better.
Although, that wasn’t the Miya’s only concern. Just a fortnight ago, he visited his brother to see how he bid. As both Miyas were comfortably talking, they felt the shift in the air. Ears were perked, tails straight and stiff, and their gold and grey eyes were sharpened for movements. Scanning Astumu’s region, nothing seemed wrong. But the uneasiness was still enveloping their minds.
“Do you think it could be back at your place,” asked the blonde.
“I don’t think so. I don’t feel anything wrong at the moment other than that feeling we have right now…”
The Miyas could only ponder at what could come in the near future. Before Osamu left to return home, Atsumu bade him a casual farewell and a thought to pass on,
“Be safe. And don’t do anything you’ll regret.”
Days have passed since that, but the tension around him never left. It was constantly part of the back of his mind now, left unanswered. So, when the weather started to become harsh in a short amount of time, it made Osamu slightly nervous. For you.
He just couldn’t help but think you might need help. He just felt a small itch to ease your struggles and to protect.
A couple minutes passed til he saw the imbalance of a figure walking in his direction. Unsure of who it could be, an enemy or you, he became defensive.
Right when you were midway up the small steps, you felt the instinct to stop. (E/C) cleared from the flickering light of the flames inside and your skin prickled at the cold claws hooking around the silk-smooth neck.
“Uh, Osamu-sama…?” Barely speaking above a whisper, hesitant eyes shift to the left to see a red-eye shadow.
As soon as he could comprehend who it was, Osamu quickly retracted his hands and stance. Eyes returning to the cloudy grey. Tentative, your soft patter from your sandals echoed through the wooden walls, despise the howling winds outside.
Clearing his throat, Osamu for the first time awkwardly shifted his posture. “I’m sorry, I didn’t know it was you.”
“Oh, well who else could it be,” you asked as you arranged the trays.
“...Unwelcomed people.”
Sensing that Osamu seemed a little tense, you just assumed it must be something beyond mortals.
Nodding at his vague response you both steadily went back into routine. As time went by, both of you conversed about the planning of the festival and how your grandfather keeps pulling small pranks on his stressed wife. Your companion would give that gentle smile in return. He actually liked hearing the stories of your grandparents. But he never heard of your parents, though he could tell it was uncharted territory.
Lost in your soft giggles, neither of you heard the new development outside. Rain.
Specifically, heavy rain with strong winds.
Only the aching of your legs took you out of your small world.
“Oh, I think it’s time I should go back,” only for both of you to turn to the side to see the darkening sky and storm. Feeling dejected at the sudden intense change of the weather, Osamu spoke up, “You are welcomed to sleep here for the night. As the kami of this shrine and a...friend...it’s best you wait out the storm.”
Why do I feel nervous when I said that?
Heart lifting at the offer and rarest shyness of the man in front of you, you hummed in agreement. Politely thanking him in a bow of gratitude.
While you waited watching the rain storm from the engawa* Osmau set up your futon in the same empty area where you ate. Not wanting to disturb you, he kneaded next to you.
“Don’t worry, it is appropriate for an Ishida to sleep here with permission. Which I gave you.”
“Yes, I--, thank you again. It’s just that I’m a little worried about the people. There might be floods,” as (E/C) stared on the raindrops hitting against a flower’s petals.
“I will see to it that damages from the rain will be compensated,” Osamu replied.
Just accepting the undetailed plan and being grateful that he will help the land, you both just continued to listen to the rain.
A silent, peaceful hour went by. Osamu turned his head to look at you to initially ask why you haven’t gone to bed yet. All to discover your sleeping form. Head hung low, your form threatening to fall to the side, Osamu grabbed your body into his arms. Cheeks radiating heat at the closeness of your face against his chest and the homey warmth of you in his arms, his face looked to the side.
Understanding it’s best to not wake you up, his sculpted arms looped under your knees. Feet treading over the creaking wood to tuck you in the futon. He could hear your quiet breaths as you slept. Osamu took in the laxness of your visage. Brows unfurrowed from worry about the people you care about, soft pink lips unpursed from distaste of his eating habits. You were peaceful. A look of calm that also reverted in Osamu.
Osamu gently brushed your smooth (H/C) hair away from your face. The sunset glow from the candle reflecting off your soft cheeks. He could only look with a softness in him as he held your hand. Tracing his calloused thumb over your knuckles.

Reborn art Festival 2021-22
Evening
Its Ishida Ayumi
I happily ate crab today
And eel was for lunch
Eh, both of these are real but,
Writing it like this makes it kind of an amazing day ❤
I was exhausted from yesterday,
I’m already completely refreshed,
I exercised on my yoga mat and went to sleep

On a location shoot for Sendai Broadcast “Ara Ara Kashiko”,
I went to Reborn art Festvial!
So as not to forget the Great Tohoku Earthquake,
Miyagi is proud of their port town,
Set in Onagawa town in Ishinomaki,
Its festival to enjoy Art, Music, and Food
Its not enough to just hear the name,
Eathquake…? Art…? Festival…?
It kind of looks complicated since there are many parts to it
I also, though that at first
Although when you see it---
You’ll get it if you see it---
First off,
The art is,
The various places in,
Ishinomaki and Onagawa,
For example like a closed public bath,
If it’s a place that isn’t used anymore,
Those places,
Were used as the space for the art exhibits,
You can enjoy it like its going on a tour around the works!
Some of the artist works that are already on display,
I though they matched the place,
Some of the works were also made by
Taking that place as inspiration,
For me,
I haven’t had much experience with,
Contemporary art so,
All of my expressions were of my first time experiencing it,
How is it for everyone!?

Moreover as its in various locations,
If you tried to see everything,
It would take at least 2 days!!

- Giant Baba Yaga connected with a pair of big Coconut Crush knee lifts on Vincent Nothing. Baba whipped Nothing into the ropes to set up for the running neckbreaker, but Jake Something grabbed Nothing around the legs and pulled him out of the ring. Something/Nothing were counted out as they fled ringside.

Kenzie Paige (Champion) vs. Maika
- Maika went for the spinning lariat on Kenzie Paige, but Kenzie caught the clothesline and took Maika to the mat with a crossface. Maika broke Kenzie's grip and rolled forward to escape the hold, but once back to her feet Maika was caught with a Kenzie Cutter and pinned.
Winner: Kenzie Paige

- Joshua Bishop went for the Bishop Bomb on Fire Katsumi, but Katsumi slipped off of Bishop's shoulders and landed behind him. Unfortunately for Fire, Big Dan Champion was in position to meet Katsumi with a powerslam. Bishop connected with a Bishop Bomb to Akira Juumonji, dropping him on top of Katsumi. Champion and Bishop stacked the two up and got the pinfall.

Ren Ayabe vs. Kerry Morton
- Kerry Morton went for the jumping knee lift on Ren Ayabe, but Ayabe blocked the knee and locked in his inverted full nelson. Ayabe tried to bend Morton backwards, but Morton used the momentum to find his way to the corner and break the hold. Ayabe tried for his sitout hiptoss on Morton, but Kerry blocked the throw and countered with the Showstopper and made the cover.
Winner: Kerry Morton

Titus Alexander vs. Kaito Ishida
- Kaito Ishida tried for a single arm tiger suplex on Alexander, but Titus used his free arm to reach between his legs and trip Ishida by the ankle. Ishida used his free foot to push Titus Alexander into the corner, but when Ishida ran in, Alexaner went up and over Kaito. Titus Alexander connected with the Chaos Theory on Ishida and gained the pinfall victory.
Winner: Titus Alexander
- Following the match Flamita, Yutani, and Bendito made their way to the ring. Yutani and Bendito unveiled a Black Generation International banner and Flamita, who had taken an interest in Alexander since they teamed together at the Risky Raffle, and Kaito Ishida held their hands out to Titus Alexander seemingly offering him a spot in their group. Titus looked conflicted, his Last Wave group with Josh Alexander and Mr. Takeshita having fallen apart soon after they won Trios Kingdom 2022 and his trio with Alan Angels and Kevin Blackwood proving less than successful. Titus Alexander respectfully avoided the handshakes and left the ring.

Athena and Queen Aminata (with Raychell Rose) vs. Donna del Mondo (Giulia and Thekla)
- Giulia went for her Glorious Buster on Queen Aminata, but Aminata squirmed her way free and slipped off of Giulia's shoulders. Aminata pushed Giulia from behind right into The O-Face from Athena, but Giulia managed to roll to the floor before Athena could follow up. Thekla went for the double underhook DDT on Athena, but Queen Aminata landed a jumping hip attack on Thekla and Athena rolled forward into a bridging pin. Raychell Rose held on to Giulia's leg to prevent her from breaking up the three count.
Winners: Athena and Queen Aminata

Trios Kingdom Finals
Big Mouth LOUD (Katsuyori Shibata/Kazunari Murakami/Manabu Hara) vs. The 37KAMIINA (MAO/Yuki Ueno/Toi Kojima)
- Kazunari Murakami pounded away on Yuki Ueno with a series of punches as Ueno did his best to cover up. Murakami tried for the STO on Ueno, but Ueno countered with the WR. Toi Kojima connected with a meteora and MAO followed up with a springboard 450 splash. Ueno made the cover to win the tournament final.
Winners of Trios Kingdom 2023: The 37KAMIINA
- In a surprise, Konosuke Takeshita appeared after the match. Takeshita and The 37KAMIINA have had their differences lately in DDT, but Takeshita looked quite proud as he congratulated them on their Trios Kingdom victory. The four shook hands and posed for pictures as MAO, Ueno, and Kojima were presented with their trophies. This nice scene was interrupted by Titus Alexander. From ringside Alexander got on the microphone and proceeded to unleash a verbal attack on Takeshita, furious that Konosuke would choose this as his reason to return to CORE after not answering a single one of Titus’ phone calls or texts since The Co-Op in April when they teamed together to defeat, coincidentally enough, three other teams including MAO and Yuki Ueno. Titus Alexander called Kaito Ishida and Flamita of Black Generation International out to ringside and told them that he's in.

this is the end result of my stop motion chrysanthemum ‘birth and death’.
i drew the flower’s life frame by frame on small pieces of cartridge paper. i used a glass weighing scale and a lamp under it to trace through the paper so the animation was smooth. it was a makeshift light box and was quite effective. i then drew small lines to mark where the images would go and took pictures of them, then edited them and made sure everything was aligned.
i looped the cycle of the chrysanthemum so that it is born, it dies and is revived again. it reminds me of ‘The Centrifugal Soul’ by Mat Collishaw. the sculpture creates the illusion of flowers evolving and blooming. they look like they’re breathing; you can almost hear the sighs and breaths. my animation gave me the same effect of breathing in and out, so when i present my final major project as an instillation, i can put all 40 of my illustrations on something that rotates. if it spins in a circle fast enough, you should be able to see the animation coming to life. Collishaw’s sculpture is mesmerising as there’s so many elements and images going up and down the rotating sculpture. my animation is a 2d interpretation of his work. to reference ‘Coraline’ again, the breathing and gesturing of the flowers is smooth yet still has that robotic, choppy quality which can be seen in coraline’s garden scenes in the other world. because it is a handmade stop motion animation, the flora and mystical fauna move in a mechanical way while still maintaining their movement journey, making them appear more haunting and whimsical.
another artist who explores growth and decay is Takashi Ishida. he creates installations of a mixture of physical art and film. his piece ‘Burning Chair’ (2013) is a video that is shot frame by frame to create the illusion of an animated drawing as a moving image. like many of his other works, Ishida’s installations are projected onto large surfaces so every frame is amplified; you can see every decision he’s made and you watch the movement progress like a wave building up. his mark makings take over blank surfaces, engulfing the mundane white spaces. in a segment of my film, i want to use clipping of flowers coming out from an eye and taking over the frame. i want to use the same techniques as Ishida does; adding a new mark to each frame, slow enough to distinguish the frames but quick enough so that the transition is smooth.
when i film the segments in the field, i will use different software to edit the flower over an empty chair. the flower will replace the lover, symbolic of the birth and death of a relationship.
i just realised as i finished editing this section of my blog, i saw the ‘burning chair’ on top of my storyboard thumbnail and connected the two. i am incorporating elements of each artist; combining film and art as a live, breathing stop motion on top of a still chair, working frame by frame like Ishida does.
