Shadow Pairs - Fantasy Edition (Part 2)

Darling’s Daily Drawing | November 16, 2022

Part two’s here! Been trying to create a cohesive storyline with all personalities and exploring party dynamics. Hopefully I’ll get to make male and female versions of the characters with different alignments and classes. More lore below!

ENTJ is a half-dragon who rose to the rank of commander in the kingdom’s royal navy. After the king’s death, however, tensions started to rise in the kingdom as rumors of the new queen, ESTJ, building her own private militia began to spread. ENTJ was overthrown in a coup, and was sentenced to prison. INTP is a halfling alchemist who was the royal scientist and the king’s advisor before he died. She was removed from her post, and was also thrown to jail for pointing out a logical flaw in the queen’s plans. There, they met each other and formed a bond. Apparently, INTP was an admirer of the commander before he was ousted, and she trusted his ability to lead. Upon learning that she used to be the royal scientist, ENTJ calls INTP the only smart person in the royal court before she was dismissed and incarcerated. With ENTJ’s planning abilities and INTP’s skills, they managed to blow up the prison and escape. Among the other survivors were ENTP and INTJ, who were captured when a heist went wrong. The four fugitives formed an unlikely alliance.

INFJ was the former court wizard, and was INFP’s confidante before the princess ran away. Wise, fair, and clairvoyant, the high elf wizard warned the king against a future betrayal, but it fell on deaf ears. After the inevitable had happened, she voluntarily left the court. Around the same time, ENFP, a spring eladrin College of Lore bard and Wild Magic sorceror, saw the shift in power and started to criticize the new regime, speaking out the queen and publishing pamphlets that seek to expose their injustices. This makes him a target, and he flees to the woods. There, he catches up with INFJ, who now lives as a hermit in a cottage. The two’s shared ideals brought them together, and soon, they catch up with INFP, the missing princess, and ENFJ, the paladin who was supposed to take her back. Together, they seek to build a new kingdom.

An adventurer at heart, ISFP is a wood-elf ranger who often traverses the woods, in touch with nature. She seeks to protect nature from being destroyed or harmed. Activity from the neighboring kingdom sends her into high alert, as the new experiments being conducted was starting to pollute her area of the woods. It has gotten so bad that it poisoned the lakes, and ISFP fell ill upon drinking from it. ESFJ is a Path of Devotion paladin, who strayed from the kingdom after the shift in leadership. Disillusioned, the knight in shining armor defected due to the new leadership’s values not aligning with his oath. On his way, he discovers a dying ISFP, and brings her back from the brink of death. In their time together, he discovers a love for nature, and she warms up to the kindhearted knight.

Noticing something is amiss with the way the queen is acting, ISTJ leaves her monastery to investigate the kingdom, for ESTJ is not the queen that she knew. She encounters ESTP, who was brought in chains as a prisoner of war from the queen’s latest conquest. As a mercy, she sets him free after defeating the guards that were holding him in place. Moved by the stranger’s kindness, ESTP decides to fight by her side and let her take the lead. However, their fighting styles becomes a source of friction between the two. ISTJ, being a human Way of the Open Hand monk, underwent rigorous training and had a disciplined approach to combat. As a leonin Path of the Beast barbarian, ESTP on the other hand preferred raging and brute strength to crush his enemies. Nonetheless, the two quickly learned how to depend on each other.

If I'd been faster, perhaps, or not so kind." His voice took on a hard edge and when his gaze briefly met Chelsea's, anger burned there. As quickly as it had come, it faded. "But that's in the past. It hardly matters now." Chelsea rubbed one hand along her arm, feeling that maybe she shouldn't have brought it up. "I'm sorry." "Me too." He tried to smile in reassurance and even though she'd pulled out painful memories, it seemed to be a genuine smile. "I'm sure you'll find your parents, though. I have faith in it."

ANIME EXPO 2023: TUTTE LE NOVITÀ DALLA KERMESSE LOSANGELINA (PARTE 2)

Seconda tranche di annunci, Crunchyroll Edition: in testa c'è il ritorno di Black Butler!

Come vi avevo promesso, ecco la seconda parte del resoconto dedicato all’ANIME EXPO 2023, tenutosi come a Los Angeles, fra il 1 e il 4 luglio.

La prima parte di annunci e trailer, molto più sostanziosa, la trovate nel post precedente a questo (QUA).

Questa che vi porto oggi è incentrata interamente sul main panel di Crunchyroll, durante il quale, in mezzo ai soliti aggiornamenti sui prossimi anime in arrivo in streaming, c'è stato spazio anche per un paio di trailer nuovi di zecca e un bell'annuncio a sorpresa!

BLACK BUTLER

Ebbene sì, Ciel e Sebastian stanno per tornare e, no, non si tratta di un reboot della celebre serie basata sul popolare manga firmato Yana Toboso, ma di un sequel.

La quarta stagione dell'anime debutterà in simulcast sulla piattaforma, in un periodo ancora non precisato del 2024, a ben sette anni dall'uscita del film di Book of the Atlantic.

L'adattamento non è più prodotto in seno ad A-1 PICTURES (Mashle: Magic and Muscles,Kaguya-sama: Love is War), ma è in lavorazione presso CLOVERWORKS (My Dress-Up Darling, Bocchi the Rock). La direzione è passata in mano a Kenjiro Okada (March comes in like a lion, RWBY: Ice Queendom), mentre alla sceneggiatura rimane Hiroyuki Yoshino, scrittore da sempre legato alla serie.

Al character design, invece, troviamo Yumi Shimizu (Locodol), che raccoglie il testimone da Minako Shiba, tristemente scomparsa nel 2021.

MBTI as things that happened in the first dnd campaign I played.

(If you're one of the ones in the campaign and you see this, no you didnt.)

INFP- We transfigured a box into a cat and named the cat 'Box.'

INFJ- One of the rogues got a nat 20 on persuasion against some robots and convinced them that their evil plan was a bad idea because it would make them a bad friend.

INTP- The evil Emperor that we killed returned from hell so we had to babysit him out of fear he would run away and start another fascist empire

INTJ- Usually INTJ has something smart but our party has done nothing smart ever so uh. Solved a riddle once? Idk. It took a while though.

ISFP- One of the rogues was immortal, but only for like, a week.

ISFJ- The party spent half an hour picking out their horses rather than actually riding the horses and advancing the plot.

ISTP- The rogues left in the middle of a fight because they figured the person they were fighting wouldn't realize they left.

ISTJ- The druid became wanted in her wild shape horse form for war crimes

ENFP- The druid cast earthquake when everyone was underground and killed half the party.

ENFJ- One of the rogues used her bag of tricks and summoned an elk in a tight hallway in the middle of a fight. This made the fight almost impossible to continue.

ENTP- we had a 'beach episode' session and we named our volleyball team 'The Geneva convention' in honor of the war crimes we definitely committed the previous session.

ENTJ- Our DM sidetracked for 15 minutes during a high-stakes encounter to design magical vending machines for a rogue to hide behind.

ESFP- The druid accidently got high in pigeon wild shape and the party had to go on a full rescue mission to find her.

ESFJ- One of the rogues had an affinity for daggers. She killed a devil with nothing but the seemingly infinite daggers she happened to have on her.

ESTP- One of the rogues made a deal with a devil for a 3d10 fire sword. When this backfired she did not apologize

ESTJ- The paladin and one of the rogues decided that the best escape plan was to jump out of the ten story building. This worked.

Brief History

Deca was born on the Alliance planet of Odessen to Felix and Lina Iresso. She was taught alongside the Commander's oldest two children, Atten and Araa, and developed a close bond with the pair as a result. She took interest in military from a fairly young age, and could often be found watching sparring sessions or asking veterans their stories.

Though she respects her mother's ability to heal, it was obvious early on that she was going to take more after her father. Both Felix, and her uncle Varrich (former commander of Havoc Squad), made it clear to her that the life of a soldier wasn't all glory and heroics - both of them suffered greatly for their career choice, after all - but her mind was made up. When she was old enough to begin her training, she took to traveling for a few years to learn from various teachers of differing backgrounds.

She started out learning from the former Battlemaster and Wrath, then branched out to other Sith, Jedi, Voss, and more. Her travels led her to Alliance ally Zakuul for just over two years, where she learned from Knights in their newly restructured Academy. Much of her combat style mirrors the Knights as a result.

When she returned home to Odessen, she spent a lot of her spare time not training with the Force Enclave, helping her mother and the others there develop the Alliance's Force doctrine. They became known as the Paladins, and their primary goal was to protect, preserve, archive, and learn. As one of the founding members, Deca quickly became a Grand Paladin - much like a Master among the Jedi, or Darth for the Sith.

She joined Alliance Security, often trusted as part of Atten and Araa's personal guard, and eventually taking over as its leader after Azan's retirement from the position. She maintained a close bond with the siblings - both becoming some of her closest friends, and eventually pursuing a romantic relationship with Atten.

Though she doesn't have visions like others in the Enclave, Deca can still sense something dark on the horizon for the Alliance.

5. What’s their full name and does it have a meaning? Do they have any nicknames and how did they get em?

Alwine Elenora Freis. No real in depth meaning tbh; Alwine because I like the shortened version of the name Winnie, Elenora because in-game I just called her Nora so that's what Codsworth calls her (in the AU it's also what Nate called her), and Freis because that's the unofficial last name of Nate that used to be on the Wiki but its gone now so bleh.

Most people just call her Winnie for short in my AU. Its actually supposed to be more common that her full name except I never practice this in posts so oops not as common as I'd like it to be. Al is sometimes a quick version of her name that's very seldom used. Al is used in more serious situations while Winnie is more personal. She's Alwine to strangers and if she's being lectured by a certain Paladin.

15. What’s their Myers–Briggs Type? (ex. ENTP, ISFJ)

I'll be honest this one required research. I've seen people putting their Myer-Briggs things up but I never fully understood what they were until I researched it for this post 💀

INFJ made the most sense to me for Alwine just cause of her situational morality/ideals but it might be subject to change when I learn more about this kind of stuff.

20. Do they have any hobbies? What are they?

Winnies big on cookin. She loves having people over and making food. She's the best at making stews and roasts and she's partial to mirelurk steaks (calling it vengeance on the sea). Sometimes she gets creative with the hard liquor and attempts to make cocktails but mixology is definitely not her calling as much as she'd hate to admit.

Beyond that she enjoys collecting blades. In Sanctuary she eventually designated an entire room of her house to displaying them.

She also enjoys neat rocks. There's no real reason for the rocks she just sees one vibes with it and picks it up.

39. What are their thoughts on having to kill on a daily bases in order to survive? Does it take a toll on them? Or do they shake it off rather easily?

At first it was hard for Alwine. During the great war she was a power armor mechanic and didn't see too much battle. There was one instance during the war where she was forced into a battle and made her first kill. That sticks with her more than any other in the commonwealth. It has gotten easier for her over the months desensitizing her quite a bit. She rationalizes every kill being able to easily walk away from death if she feels it was justly earned. So far Alwines been lucky enough to not accidentally kill an innocent or make a poor call that she has regretted but if she has she'd be feeling it.

ISFJ: Cleric (Probably good but has just enough potential to become a super-villain too, undoubtedly interested in health, even if it’s more on the necromancy side. Whatever their moral alignment, they see in black and white.)

ESFJ: Monk (Traditional fighting with a little bit of religion and very detailed backstories? Sign them up!)

ENFP, ISFP, ESFP: Bard (Whether they be drawn to lutes or bucket drums previously holding leeches, they know they’re talented in the entertainment industry. Now hopefully they can sing better than a leech, because you’ll be hearing a lot of their voice.)

INFP, INFJ: Druid (Morals and fluffy animals? That sounds like a nat. 20 to me.)

ENFJ: Paladin (Yes, not all ENFJs are knights in shining armor, but let’s pretend for a moment that they are. They are known far and wide for their courage and chivalry. I’m sure they’re more than a few bards’ muse. Their oaths flood their veins, don’t make them break their bond.)

INTP: Ex-wizard, has since retired and become a bard. (What can I say? They may be famous for their strange brain but they’d rather tell bad jokes and befriend goblin kings.) Most likely to multi-class.

ENTP: Rogue (C’mon, did you think I would say that they aren’t going to try to steal your stuff? I bet they have a pet wyvern working for them too.)

INTJ, ESTJ: Warlock (Probably the most powerful of the group, or at least, they will be, or at the very least, they think they are. Unlike the wizard, they put a lot of effort into being smart. Knowledge and control is the name of the game, afterall.)

ENTJ: Fighter (Picture a romanesque gladiator. Bloodshed, passion, and a balanced mix of book and street smarts, they’re some of the most formidable opponents without magic. They’re jack-of-all-trades yet specialize too, making them the natural choice for leadership.)

ISTJ: Ranger (They don’t necessarily have to play with the party and they get to think the most about strategic placement. It’s fancy chess as far as they’re concerned.)

ESTP: Barbarian (Enough said. Extended edition: they may use brute force but they do it so the ones they love don’t have to.)

ISTP: Sorcerers (They’re similar to wizards but a little more chaotic and a little more individualized at the same time. Magic that’s based on their personality is a dream come true.)

D&D ask: I’m an INFJ 5w4 (549) - I like to think of myself as ~wise~ but I’m also just like a plain bastard and pretty arrogant and irritable. I also have a pretty big problem with laziness and it makes me pretty lacklustre on hobbies but I get extremely niche and zealous about politics. Also socially I’m not extremely engaged but I’m always hyper aware of how I’m ~tactfully plotting~ to get involved with people socially (though this is probably just a product of my new environment rn)

I would recheck either your enneagram or MBTI since 5 is pretty much exclusively thinkers (my go to is either INTJ if you’re positive about 5, and 4 or 6 with a 5 wing if you’re positive about INFJ) but anyway:

there’s not a whole lot to go on here...niche and zealous makes me think Paladin but the laziness sort of doesn’t work with that. As such I kind of like the Mastermind rogue, in that they are explicitly pretty political and tactfully plotting.

Okay, I’m kinda swamped today so I don’t have time to go into as much detail as I’d want, so here are some basic thoughts:

1. Imo any description of the INTJ personality type that you find on google is just a big fat summary of Lotor’s character and personality. I browsed through a bunch, and here’s a pretty simple, comprehensive one: https://www.16personalities.com/intj-personalityKey points are: mastermind/strategist, intellectual, rational/logical, doesn’t act on emotion, wants things to make sense, confident in own skills, perfectionist, strict personal morals despite unconventional methods, knows exactly how much he does/doesn’t know, as a result comes across as aloof or arrogant to others, thinks outside the box, willing to be unconventional to achieve goals, goal oriented (more on that in point no. 2 below), challenges tradition/will happily break with tradition if a better option/way of doing things is found, highly idealistic but extremely cynical at the same time, ambitious, curious, driven, and thirsty for knowledge from a very young age.(Gonna take a quick moment to plug this in right here: “INTJs are defined by their tendency to move through life as though it were a giant chess board, pieces constantly shifting with consideration and intelligence, always assessing new tactics, strategies and contingency plans, constantly outmaneuvering their peers in order to maintain control of a situation while maximizing their freedom to move about. This isn’t meant to suggest that INTJs act without conscience, but to many Feeling (F) types, INTJs’ distaste for acting on emotion can make it seem that way, and it explains why many fictional villains (and misunderstood heroes) are modeled on this personality type.”INTJs feel as much – maybe even more, honestly, as they can be empathetic to a debilitating degree – as other people. Just because they don’t show it conventionally, doesn’t mean it’s not there.

Okay. I just felt I had to point that out, being an INTJ myself. I am so tired of the “cold/aloof/ice-hearted/uncaring/ruthless” comments that come my way. Moving on XD)2. Related to the above, I honestly don’t think he’s an “EXXX” anything. Lotor is certainly much more facially expressive than most INTJs in fiction. His facial expressions, however, are carefully managed. He never lets something show that he doesn’t want to be seen. And that’s partly a survival mechanism. If he wore his heart/feelings on his sleeve, he would not have been able to survive 10k years in the environment he did. But he’s a total introvert – keeps his thoughts and feelings private except when he feels comfortable sharing them with select people, and with the exception of s6 eps 1-4 (i.e., when he had started feeling more comfortable and getting closer with the paladins), his body language is completely closed off. I don’t think he’s an ENTP; he’s entirely way too goal-oriented for that. He loves learning, loves knowledge, presents new ways of thinking or new arguments contrary to conventional opinion and is very well argued and reasoned, but it’s all for a goal. It’s a means to accomplishing something concrete. This is the same reason why I personally place him in Slytherin and not in Ravenclaw. While I’m sure he would appreciate knowledge for knowledge’s sake, I honestly don’t think he would ever sacrifice anything, especially other people, in a quest to gain it; not like Honerva or the BoM would. Most likely due to the circumstances surrounding him – the parenting he received, his education, his exile, his treatment as inferior by pure blooded Galra, no doubt many assassination attempts on his life, etc. – everything he does has a specific, tangible reason. Sacrificing some Alteans from the colony (though tbh we really don’t know what the fuck happened since none of the creators saw fit to resolve one of their major plot lines)? I can buy that. Because it would be done in order to save a greater number of people; real, living people. Not some abstract concept.

3. I believe that, while there are certain innate tendencies and personality traits we are born with, our environment plays a crucial role in how those manifest and which become more developed than others. The only other personality type I can see him as is INFJ, as @galtean-gf pointed out in a post. Personally, I think that while he had the potential to be an INFJ in a kinder world, the bullshit he’s gone through in the canon main reality of the series has cultivated and encouraged certain aspects and traits of his to be more dominant than they otherwise would be, simply as a matter of pure survival, resulting in the version that canon presents to us; and that version, to me, is an INTJ.4. The fandom’s reaction to him. If I had to point to a single piece of evidence that supports his being an INTJ, it would be the fandom’s reception of him. There is no character quite so divisive with fans as an INTJ. Ever. INTJs typically inspire love or hate, there is no in between except in rare cases with very mature INTJs that have stepped back from the world and are less involved with the plot/their surroundings and are, therefore, less controversial. And the arguments that antis use against him are all extremely typical things that people say against INTJs, both in fiction and, sadly, in reality too. Personal experience here :/
