Strength is a measure of worth.

This is true for all castes; rusts die if they're weak, while midbloods shatter under the pressure of their examinations. For bluebloods, it likely is the most true, though she knows better than to say that out loud.

A clown is, well, a clown. No one expects anything from them, the fools are only moments from sewing bells into their pockets and going on a stealth mission. Violets and Tyrians are above reproach, the best of the best; Alternia is a drowning planet, after all, and someday she knows they'll run out of land.

Her own strength is a tender spot, a bruise that doesn't quite heal, though you can't see it any longer. She wants more strength, more control of what she has. Being well-read and soft-spoken means nothing in her caste, as that's the baseline. Her perfect posture, the steady, unnerving eye-contact she maintains, the careful hold she has over her lips to keep a blank expression as often as she can...

All of it is meaningless. She, in turn, is meaningless. Useless. For all she can try to make a name for herself, she's only a blue. As good as she can ever get still isn't good enough, still doesn't set her apart.

A momentary distraction is all it takes, then, to change everything. To strip her status, to break the tenuous grip she's so carefully cultivated on her place in the world. The driver of the scuttlebuggy falls, comically, onto the rushing conveyor belt, towards the stamp press, splashing the concrete floor with bronze from a gash on their head. From the back seat, the Princess.

Hook and crescent horns, hair a tangled mess, clothes half-on, disoriented. Kanaya grabs her arm, yanks her out of the way of the machinery, yells at her to stop, to look out.

To get the fuck off of that.

Trolls are made of such weak material. The way ligaments tear, the obvious shock on her face, the silence that fell over the factory floor as the machines were powered down, backup lights flickering to life as blood, pink and royal and so fucking much begins to pool around her boots.

This, alone, might not have ended it. She would have lost her own arm, certainly. She would have been demoted, forced into some lowblood slum and made to repent, but she could beg apologies from there.

But she runs. The blood smell is so strong, so deep and permeating. She can't breathe, and she runs, hand still closed tight around the severed arm of her heiress. Outside, there's a group gathered, some kind of assassination attempt. On noticing her, they turn their attention her way, drones launching nets at the scan of tyrian blood.

She runs, because there's nothing she can do. She runs, because to control this situation, to change things as a worthless, useless, faceless blueblood would be impossible. Because controlling where she goes is the best she can do, maybe the best she's ever done.

The pink footprints end several blocks into her sprinting, but she keeps going. There has to be somewhere else she can be.

what is the reveal order for the alterfall trolls?

Vriska, Terezi, Karkat, and Kanaya were all released together as the patron trolls.

Aradia was next, and then Gamzee shortly after.

Okay, This is just as a bit of personal documentation, and it is going to be long as fuck. I’ll be cross posting this to my secondary, and honestly, dust gathering blog I created @summon-the-bagel-god. (I feel like I should change that url? I’m not a huge fan of bagels.) That will be my personal journal for the internet to view an idea I’ve filled a sketchbook with, as well as any other creative endeavors in the future.

Its a homestuck au based off of some face-swap edits of the beta trolls I saved to my phone sometime ago. It has now slowly consumed my life and I’ve made it my own. When I say consumed my life; I went the full Yellow Yard on this bitch. I did the trolls, And I mean All 24+ Alternian ancestors are all locked and loaded with art and notes about their roll change.

This post will be focused on the beta kids and trolls. I’ll have to set up a secondary post for the alphas, and another still for the ancestors.

Blood swapping/ Kid swapping alone can Dramatically change the trajectory of a character from the base line, and having these beloved characters be well established blorbos from the collective Tumblr Edgy Teen Years, there is a lot of information in regards how their rolls within the story, as well as grand precedent for how a single detail changing can alter the entire course of the plot. 

I supposed I should mention one important and rather fundamental aspect I’ve changed.

Caliborn is still a Lord, but he is a Lord of Space Lime blood now.

While Calliope is a Muse of Time Crimson Blood.

I have art, notes, an entire google folder, and so on that I am wondering.... Would any of you that have read this far like to see? And if so, would you care to give some creative criticism in those documents?

Any ideas for a good lusus for a trollsona?

Well, it depends on a couple of things!

Some castes seem to have a sort of "category" for lusii they usually have, in canon:

Bronzes seem to have lusii connected to farming; a bull, a herding dog, and an emu (which are farmed!)

The Captors are the only named golds with a lusus to not have said lusus be a bug of some sort

Karkat's lusus is special, since he's a mutant! It was specifically developed by secret followers of the Signless so a mutantblood would have a lusus in the future.

Jades can, incredibly rarely, have a Virgin Mother Grub lusus! Kanaya was said to be a rare case (though I can't find a source for this).

Cerulean lusii seem to have a connection to biting (snake, tick, and spider), and so far many have been bugs.

Indigo lusii seem to be related to farms as well, though more on the ungulate side! Examples are Arthour (a cow centaur) and a goat.

Purple lusii seem to trend between semi-aquatic (Marvus' "land dolphin" lusus) and fully aquatic (goatdad and a whale).

Violet lusii tend to be fully aquatic (seahorsedad and a background aquatic cat lusus)

Fuschias ONLY have Gl'bgolyb as their lusus

Though of course, you can ignore this stuff if you don't feel like following canon to the letter!

If your trollsona is you, it could be an animal you have a deep connection to, or just your favorite! For example, I think mine would be a sheep with fangs, like a musk deer! This is because I'm a cerulean and wanna keep the biting theme, but also I have a special connection to sheep, since that's been my main stuffed animal since I was a baby!

Other options include, but are not limited to:

An animal with a theme or aesthetic you want your troll to match or contrast

An animal with a temperament you want your troll to match or contrast

Any pre-existing lusus, of course

A not totally animalian lusus, such as one with plant elements

Kanaya takes down Eridan easily and never seems to regret it even if he is a weird asshole who spouts slurs like they're water.

Terezi seems to immediately forget about Tavros and focus on everything but.

Even Karkat who is more 'human' doesn't seem to care too much beyond the momentary terror of murderstuck that all of his friends are fucking dead.

I can understand on Kanaya not mourning Eridan if only because he technically betrayed/killed her after giving him a powerful weapon. He probably didn't mean to use it against her, but it had happened at that time. |It was stated by Homestuck that trolls don't bury their dead. Whatever is left of their body after they died is just laying there to rot to be eaten by animals or by dust. The trolls may be upset when someone they cared for died, but would be too hung up on things like either getting revenge or be distant to certain groups that harmed them. I wouldn't be surprised if most trolls are basically apathetic because of this. As highbloods can easily spit on those beneath them and happy to let them suffer, I wouldn't be surprised if lowerblood like a bronze or rusty will look at the midblood with some disdain because though they are lower than bluebloods like cerulean or indigo, they are not the poorest of people and they have longer lifespans biologically. It's all about survival in Alternia. First time an equivalent of something related to a funeral is brought up is corpse box aka coffin. But that may be because they had observed someone like Rose and Mom burying Jaspers and saw the strange ritual they did. Even after the knowledge or seeing the action of it, they don't know how to emulate it themselves. But yeah, trolls don't mourn and ones like Karkat and Terezi are assholes for not caring about Tavros, Nepeta, Equius, and Feferi have died. They don't even try to meet them in Dream Bubbles either or talk with them.

Earth c plot idea:

Kanaya starts finding too many mutants, goldbloods that become rainbowdrinkers, violets with psiionics, indigos with animal control... maybe theyre not mutants

I’m making some descendants and my concept is like. The Gods disappeared hundreds of years ago, each kingdom named new leaders, and since the 12 original trolls are still well regarded so their descendants are important political figures.

1-Kanaya’s is a grumpy man, he sees himself as descendant of the badass chainsaw wielding undead leader that brought trolls back from extinction, he doesn’t know that was Kanaya however and thinks he’s following his ancestor’s footsteps by being the face of masculinity when that’s never what he was supposed to do.

2-Karkat’s is a busybody responsible for troll reproduction. She thinks her ancestor was the emotional rock of the group and tries to live up. After a while trolls learned that before extinction Lime bloods had the role Jades would have, but now on Earth C everything’s back to “normal“ and she is proud of that role

3-Tavros’s was a regular farmer that became head of food production and livestock handling, not because of any genuine interest but just because that’s what bronze bloods do and she has natural abilities that do all the work. She’s now an influencer and doesn’t care much for her actual job.

4-Equius’s is still a WIP but the gist is that she is a fancy woman, is always smiling and is self conscious of her indigo-blood given super strength so she made herself mechanic arms that would keep it at bay, that paradoxically make her arms look buffer. She’s basically my read of a transfem Horuss

ok this gives me the chance to talk about my species swap au bc i forget to talk about it in the other ask

ok so my au starts out with human karkat, araida, tavros and sollux (introduced in that order bc theyre the trolls with exiles (the midnight crew)) and theyre all playing sburb beta, they still have their same planets and classpects and dreaming moons, and theyre being pestered by troll john (cerulean blood), dave (mutant/"lime blood"), rose (either a rust blood or a purple blood im not sure) and jade (gold blood) (and i think i want to make john and rose the only two to godtier in their troll group) (also their ancestors are their guardians, the signless is karkat's dad, the handmaid is aradia's mom, the summoner is tavros' older brother, and the helmsman is sollux's older brother). the human kids all godtier (i think aradia would godtier first and kind of be the catalyst for the others godtiering) and araida starts the scratch and with sollux's mage of doom powers he knows that they wont be able to complete their session without a space player, so they need to travel to a session where there is one. the kids join the trolls on their meteor/ship and they travel the incipisphere, but then they get a transmission similar to rose's FAQ. in between the universe they came from and the universe they need to get to, there is another universe. there, four other kids are playing sburb alpha, and its human terezi, nepeta, gamzee and equius (introduced in that order (in this au i think they would all be friends :)) the "act" starts with them in their homes starting to play (also redglare is terezi's mom, the disciple is nepeta's older sister, the GHB is gamzee's dad and darkleer is equius' dad), and then theyre being pesterd by troll jane (fushia blood), roxy (teal blood), dirk (indigo blood) and jake (bronze blood). i think terezi would be the first to godtier and idk if the other ones godtier too im not really sure. but then they join the beta group on their journey to the next universe, where we see human kanaya, vriska, eridan and feferi are playing the final release of sburb (you dont see much of them but the dolorosa is kanaya's mom, mindfang is vriska's mom, dualscar is eridan's grandpa, and the condesce is feferi's mom). the alpha and beta group join them in their universe and help create the genisis frog to make their new universe (also kanaya, vriska, eridan and feferi all godtier).
