The crows as cards cause I’m bored and why not, as usual my asks are open and I’m always happy to answer!!! Possible ROW and CK spoilers??? Obviously SOC spoilers

Kaz: king of clubs, symbolises strength, power and determination, his ambition towards taking down Rollins, and his effectiveness in doing so, as well as his power by the time ROW occurs in him having two people on the merchant council, the queen of fjerda and the wraith on the seas, in play can be useful, but in most cases doesn’t do much if the rest of the hand is shit, he needs his crows

Inej: Queen of spades, I was going to make her and Kaz match but I’d rather give her an individual one, symbolises intelligence, practical and intellectual, plans ahead of time, inej is always the one in the crows to provide insight to their issues, no matter how cryptic it may be at times, and she shows her ability to understand the consequences of all of their actions better than the other crows several times, in play a black queen can change the game if not countered by a red one

Nina: queen of hearts, pretty obvious as it is, heartrender, queen of fjerda, symbolises a powerful woman who is commanding and has a strong presence yet is compassionate, caring and protective of those she loves, her taking the parem to save the others in coming out of the ice court, as well as generally just being there for the crows in their times of need while still being a very independent and strong female character, in play can be incredibly useful for saving a hand

Matthias: king of hearts, symbolises honesty and spirituality, obviously spirituality to djel and his honesty about changing who he was to be a better man, and admitting that what he did was wrong along with coming to terms with how he was raised and how that effected him and how he treats others, also symbolises a kind gentle man, which he became because of Nina, sparing the boy who shot him, in play again not very useful unless the rest of the hand is good

Wylan: Ace of diamonds, symbolises a financial increase and can indicate a message from a new lover, his claiming of his inheritance from his father, and Jespers role in helping him achieve and maintain that inheritance with reading to him, in play can change the stakes of the game and is very fluid compared to other cards in what it can do, as well as changing the suit to how it sees fit regardless of the suit being played, changing to look like kuwei, asking to be beaten up further for dramatic effect etc

Jesper: Jack of Diamonds, symbolises youth, energy and potential, “maybe he was a bullet in a chamber, waiting to be given direction”, it can also symbolise future financial instability, his gambling, and can be used to represent an unfaithful employee, when he accidentally ratted them out to the dime lions, in play isn’t extremely helpful and generally can benefit the person before the player more than the player themselves, heavily depends on the other cards in the hand, much like how Jesper often puts trying not to disappoint others above his own general well-being and mental health

+ Bonus kuwei: ace of spades, mirrors Wylan, symbolises death, darkness and mystery, parem causing death, hiding in the tomb, nobody really knowing much about him, but can also represent new beginnings, fresh starts and rebirth, moving to Ravka and changing his name to fix his fathers mistakes, arguably one of the most important cards in play, can change the game entirely based on its high place on the list of outcomes on rolling the dice or drawing from a deck of cards chance, can also symbolise power, luck and triumph, whoever was ‘in possession’ of kuwei was winning the game

If anybody has any other opinions on this please let me know!! Also I am aware that technically they have all already been assigned cards in the collectors edition art for crooked kingdom but these are my own takes, might do an analysis post on their cards assigned in the official art if anybody is interested <333 also will do any other characters in the SOC duology and maybe some from the SAB trilogy if asked!!!

I would watch a show completely centred around the Faheys, I love them too much. Give me Jesper and Aditi giggling while they take off Colm’s boots because he fell asleep in front of the fire again. Give me Aditi giving Jesper milk with jurda stalk in it at night when he’s too excited. Give me Aditi and Colm arguing at night while Jesper pretends to sleep on the couch before they make up and Colm melts when Aditi holds his face because he loves his wife so much. Give me Aditi teaching Jesper how to use his powers. And, and give me the hurt too, give me Jesper coming downstairs at night because there’s a dusty man at his door panicking. Give me baby Jes thinking this house he’s been taken to is posh because it’s got windows and two floors. Give me Jesper waking up next to his mothers dead body, not knowing what’s happening but knowing his dad is crying. Give me Jesper making his da watery soup and burnt biscuits because he wants to make him feel better, and Colm eating it anyways because he loves his son. Give me both of them having to adjust to losing their Queen, Colm reading to Jesper at night, telling him off for spelling cuss words in the jurda fields, give me Colm reaching Jesper to ride a horse, give me Colm having to tell Jesper off for sneaking boyfriends/girlfriends into his room. Give me my single dad who works two jobs and adopts criminals. Just the Faheys, I love them.

Screw you Netflix tbh, honestly don’t see why they feel this was the best move they could have made.

I think in general Klaus’s and Reggies relationship is much more interesting than the other siblings, not only in season three but when they speak in season one in the void, they talk well with each other. I think specifically in season three we get to see their dynamic more clearly, and while yes, it’s mainly built off of Klaus’s want to be loved and Reginald seeing him as an east target, I think generally they’re more similar than the others are to Reggie.

Both Reg and Klaus’s character arcs and story’s stem off of their respective partners, the brellies only exist because Reg needed them to get Abigail back, while Klaus losing Dave pushed him to put everything he struggles with aside in order to get Dave back, and while he starts to accept that his Dave is gone, I think given the opportunity to see him again, he’d take it.

I also generally think they have similar personalities, in terms of having no filter or awareness of how their actions affect others, and their knowledge for trivial things/way of getting people on their side.

I think because of these similarities, it makes Klaus a much easier target for Reginald, because it’s easier to get in his head, he knows his weak points because they’re the same as his own.

On that note, fuck Reginald, but he’s also a very interesting character that I think a lot of the fandom misses out on because of daddy issues jokes or people simply taking the fact he’s a shitty person without actually looking into how he does it, which you can see makes him a much worse person, and gives loads more opportunities for angst!!

Don’t mind me just thinking about how Jesper saying “it’s not a blessing it’s a curse, and you have no idea what it’s cost me” in season two is far too similar to Colm saying “it’s not a gift it’s a curse, it killed your mother” in crooked kingdom. I’m only sobbing about it I’m fine.

Driving myself insane over the grishaverse’s geography, Wdym Weddle and Djerholm are on the same degree… Wdym Cofton and Ketterdam are also on the same degree, why is Fjerda so cold when Novyi Zem is hot???? Where is your equator??? Is your earth flat??? But it can’t be because I’m pretty sure there were globes in the show, so what is it??? It can’t even be a vertical equator, because the wandering isles are above Novyi Zem and that would make Ravka the coldest, not Fjerda, because it would be one of the poles. I also contemplated a diagonal equator, because I don’t believe it was ever specified wither Shu Han was hot or cold, this would not work regardless because Kerch is in the way and we know Kerch is cold. Lord help me.

klave or wesper and what do you like most about both ships?

For reference I’m going to be talking about the show versions of both of them because Dave did not exist in the comics!! (Klaus instead opened a strip club in Vietnam got married and had a child but that’s a rant for a different ask.)

I honestly don’t think I could choose between both of them, I think wesper is more well written, because obviously Dave only gets at tops a couple minutes of screen time, and Klaus’s Dave only gets around two minutes, but I love the trope of ‘nobody has truly loved all of me until you’, and the angst that comes with the fact that Klaus had to go all the way back to the Vietnam war just to be loved truly and completely for himself. The way their so gentle with each other in the middle of a war and how they look at each other like nothing else matters and klaus begging when Dave gets shot and ah- I love them too much, truly, but Steve black did them dirty.

Wesper on the other hand I think is written much better, and I like the contrast in the show of just being able to have a happy queer ship. Between two men who have no shame about their sexuality’s or relationship, don’t get me wrong, I love a good coming out story and learning to love yourself, but I like that their trope is more about finding themselves and helping each other rather than finding themselves with each other, and they get to have their own individual character arcs and stories, while Dave only gets small details about his life thrown about in seasons one and two, then is forgotten about in season three.

Overall two of my favourite ships, six of crows is my current fixation so wesper is currently more at the forefront of my mind but overall they both take first place in my favourite ships!

Imagine the crows and umbrellas meeting who do you think would get along the best, and who do you think would absolutely not get along

I think Luther and Matthias would definitely bond over having big brother syndrome and having to look after their idiots, I also think Luther would have a certain respect for Kaz, Inej and Nina, and I don’t think there’s anybody that Luther wouldn’t get along with.

Diego and Inej would be friends 100%, they’d trade knives, I also think Diego would get along with Jesper, and Jesper would probably think Diego is a durast but not mention it because he thinks he’s hiding it too.

Allison would probably get along with Wylan and Nina, and I think they would also like her until they found out about the incident with Luther, in which case they’d stop talking to her, because they may be criminals but the crows don’t tolerate SA.

Klaus would try to get along with all of them, I can totally see Matthias being another one of his ghostly pals, even if it’s reluctant, he’d be friends with inej and get all of the gossip in the barrel from her then chat about it. Him and Nina would bond over their connection to the dead, dead blonde boyfriends + drug addiction, can totally see them drinking together and crying. Him and Jesper would probably get on, but their both very bold people and I can definitely see them rubbing each other the wrong way from time to time, I also think him and Kaz would have a mutual respect of sorts? They both have trauma with the dead and I can see that making it easier for them to connect.

Five and Kaz would have a conflicting relationship, they’d either see each other as a good opponent or an ally, depending on what benefited their respective groups of misfits at any given time. He would definitely get along with Wylan, they’d do equations together like the nerds they are.

Brellie Ben and Matthias would be ghost buddies eventually, like I said in a previous post Matthias’s ghost wouldn’t associate with bens ghost but he might associate with klaus, and learn to love Ben along the way, Ben would probably want to talk to all of the crows but he absolutely has a running trail of sarcastic commentary about all of them.

Viktor and Wylan would bond over being the ‘failure’ music kid who ended up having to fend for themselves because their asshole fathers didn’t want them, (or what viktor thought at the time). Viktor would also get along with Inej and Jesper, and I can totally see Wylan and Viktor playing their instruments while Jesper sings some horrific sea shanty’s.

Klaus will always be my favourite brellie, by far.

And as for the next season, I honestly don’t know what to expect, I do hope that they touch more on Klaus’s PTSD surrounding his time in the Vietnam war if they aren’t getting their powers back, I feel it was pretty much entirely ignored last season besides Klaus’s small ‘Dave’ after coming back to life after being harpooned lmao. And most people didn’t even notice that on the first watch. I do hope we get some kind of closure as to what happened with Dave, Viktor and Allison both got to know what happened to Sissy and Raymond in season 3, and Allison now supposedly has Raymond back, I want to know what happened to Dave.

As for the other brellies, I mainly just hope they get some closure, and I want Allison to be held accountable for what she did to Luther in Season 3 because honestly I feel that it was completely unnecessary and really ruined her character for me.

Also hoping that Diego and Lila have the baby.

I have a sneaking suspicion that Klaus may overdose for real this season though if the short hair being back has anything to do with it.

Also his tattoos being gone and then being back in the birthday video??? And where were his dogtags???

what is your favorite song scene in the umbrella academy in each season and overall

In season one it’s got to be Soul Kitchen by The Doors, not only is it by my favourite band but it’s got the klave scene, the whole thing was just gorgeous in my opinion. The longing stares, the dancing, the shots while linking arms (a traditional tying off for couples at weddings in multiple cultures), and the kiss on the beat drop??? Perfection. Soul kitchen is about Jim Morrison not wanting to leave a diner he loved, but having to anyway when it closes, and the song over any kind of relationship set in Vietnam is always heartbreaking, Klaus and Dave found a home and a safe space together and ended up losing it in the end.

Season two has to be the whole Klaus cult scene with Sunny by Boney M. Not so much any deep reason for this one like the last one, I just love the song and the colouring for all of it, and how floaty and happy klaus looks for most of it, also the cult leader outfits were>>>

Season three again has to be a Klaus scene, Cats in the Cradle by Ugly Kid Joe. First of all, I love that this song is backing Klaus getting hit by traffic over and over again, second of all, it scares me a little. The whole song is talking about how the speakers son turned out to be just like him, even though he was flawed and not there for his son, who does that remind you of? Klaus and Reggie, the similarities between the two of them specifically in this season, although I’ve seen them all the way through the show, are scaring me for Klaus’s problem child era next season, and I’m just hoping and praying that they don’t ruin him tbh.

How do you think the crows would handle Reginald, the Commission/Handler and how do you think the umbrellas would handle the barrel

I think the crows would have similar feelings about Reginald that the siblings do, although I think they’d treat him with a certain amount of respect before facing him, Reginald is a very rich man so I can absolutely see them working for him if he offered them the money, although Wylan would probably sympathise with the siblings and argue with Kaz until they ended up with a similar mission to taking over Van Eck.

As for the commission, I think they’d absolutely find a way to run that place, if they where given access to it they’d work their way up no problem, or shut it down, whatever offered more money.

In terms of the siblings in the barrel, I think Luther, Diego and Klaus would manage pretty well, whither through brute force and usefulness (Luther and Diego) or street smarts (Klaus). I can see five working his way up to being a good opponent for Kaz, they’d either hate each other or make an alliance, whatever protected their respective groups more. Allison would probably work her way into the more prestigious parts of Ketterdam, same goes for sparrow Ben.

Umbrella Ben would be following klaus around (obviously), and depending on the circumstances I think viktor would end up in the same situation as Wylan, scraping for money and getting dragged into his siblings shenanigans as usual.

Overall I think they’d all cope pretty well in each others universes, given that the siblings didn’t get pegged as grisha immediately, and the crows adapt very well to their given situation.
