Dolores and Isabela Madrigal are extra close. They shared secrets together as children all the time. They enjoyed pretending to have each others’ gifts. They comforted each other when the other cried. They caused mischief together, played pranks on the rest of the familia, played pranks on each other, jumped through rain puddles, ran through nature and chilled in their secret hideout, played with the bugs, etc. When Dolores had interest in a boy, Isabela didn’t understand, she didn’t get the appeal of boys and why Dolores pretended to like one, was this some kind of joke, some kind of prank, but she played along and was her cousin’s number one wingwoman. She was the matchmaker, Cupid’s conductor. And when those boys broke her heart like they inevitably do, Isabela chased them off a cliff. She did that to anybody who messed with Dolores. Just kidding! But she would like to! Sometimes Dolores had to reign her in. Because the “victim” always ended up crying.
One of the things they loved to do was be each other! Countless times, Isabela and Dolores would dress up as each other and go by each others’ names, demanding everybody else refer to them as their cousin’s name as well. Isabela even grew red flowers instead of pink ones to complete the look! Isabela referred to her parents as tía and tío, and her sisters as “primas”. Same for Dolores and her “primo”(since Antonio wasn’t born yet). It was all good and fun, right? Until Isabela asked Pepa to let her hold Camilo, which Pepa foolishly obliged. Isabela was seven years old. Camilo was one. So you can imagine what happened. The worst part was that in Julieta’s room, Dolores was asking to do the same thing to Mirabel! Fortunately, Pepa thundered into the room at just the right time and put a stop to the madness instantly. Julieta took Mirabel from Dolores, which made both older girls miserable as they ran to their secret hideout to cry together. Because they’re seven, they figured that all this chaos ensued because they had dressed up as each other, not because, you know, a seven-year-old dropped a baby(which is partly the mother’s fault for letting it happen, but let’s move on...). So they stopped dressing up as each other for...God knows how long, maybe forever. But nobody ever forgot about Isabela’s screw-up, and they never hesitate to make fun of her for dropping her baby cousin. After all, everybody knows Isabela can’t be handled with a baby...much less five...
So if you’re wondering why Camilo’s such a gigantic bonehead, this is why.
Isabela and Dolores are still as close as ever, as you can imagine. And in many ways, she’s still the fiercely protective big cousin, and she’s still the cute and funny little cousin who provides a soothing comfort(and voice of reason because shit Isabela needs it!) in Isabela’s life. Put some respect on the OG chaos twins.
(This is canon everyone please look it up it’s true!)

Camilo x reader (gender neutral reader)
— With Dolores' and Mariano's wedding just a week away, Dolores tries her best to keep her head in the game and mind void of any possible distractions leading up to her big day; unfortunately for Camilo, that means he has to step aside for a bit. But lucky enough, Mariano has a younger sibling his age— who he realizes is just as hopelessly romantic as their brother.
— ☕ pt. 2
"You should've seen his face; the smuggest smile, even his cheeks were red. " Dolores laughs into her hand, lifting a spoonful of her dinner— Ajiaco to her lips, blowing on it rather lightly as to cool it down.
"Wait, wait— " Mirabel starts, a short snicker and snort slipping past her lips before she can continue. "Did he do that like, nose thing? " Mirabel demonstrates, scrunching her nose up exactly how Camilo would— and had —whenever he knew exactly how his heartstrings were being tugged. Or in this case, strummed.
"Sí, sí! Just like that! " Dolores exclaims excitedly, nudging Camilo's arm teasingly as she stuffs the spoonful into her mouth.
Camilo grumbles in response to the teasing, keeping his head low to the table as he reaches over for the Corn, dragging the bowl of it across the table shyly rather than lifting it.
"I don't do that, " He whines, lying— he knew he did. The nose scrunching, the eyebrow knitting, the blushing— all signs his family recognized as symptoms of a developing crush. If not that, then at least some type of romantic tension.
Hell, it's only a matter of time before he loses control of his power's in front of them. Its happened once before, a previous crush had gotten him so insanely smitten, he found it difficult at times to control his gift when in their presence. Although, that was years ago— maybe around the age of eleven if not a little younger.
Mirabel chuckles, "There's nothing to be ashamed of, Primo. I've had conversations with Y/n Guzman before, I always find them in the same spot performing for the children— they're very beautiful. Para ser honesto, I'm surprised you hadn't met them sooner. " Camilo pouts, tilting his head to the side as he uses the tongs to place his second maíz en la mazorca into his bowl. As Mirabel speaks, his interest is slowly piqued.
"T-they perform? " Camilo sits up suddenly, placing the bowl back into the middle of the table.
"Oh, yeah! They sing folktales to the children all the time, but only during late noon. You're usually back home by the time they set up. " She states, mixing her spoon into the broth of Ajiaco as it cools.
"I guess artistic genius runs in the family. " Dolores smiles to herself, specifically speaking of Mariano and his wonderful knack for poetry. She rests her cheek in the palms of her hand, reminiscing on the various times he'd leave pages upon pages of poetry at Casita's doorstep— each and every word is meant for her— he'd say. And good gosh, did it absolutley send her head over heels.
Camilo rolls his eyes so hard he's almost certain for a moment they'd get stuck back there. He serves himself an assortment of broth onto his spoon, chicken, corn, potato and chilli. He cools it down before shoving the large spoonful into his mouth, at that moment; Pepa, Félix and Isabela walk into the dining room— turning the dinner from a party of three to a party of six.
Mirabel takes a sip of her water, "You should ask them on a date. " Mirabel jokes, her tone not at all sarcastic which would explain Camilo's reaction; he coughs, choking on a lump of potato in the back of his throat. Mirabel's words ring in Pepa's ears, and suddenly she turns on the heel of her shoe and looks to Camilo.
"Ask who on a date?" Pepa chimes, startling Mirabel who hadn't even realized they entered the dining room just yet.
"No one, M-Mami! " The shapeshifter chokes out through his chest, his hands slamming and clenching onto the table as if he were on the verge of dying— which seemed to be the case.
"Y/n Guzman. " Dolores states, just then becoming the subject of Camilo's stiffening glare. As if on que, Dolores realizes how piping hot she had left her spoonful, abruptly jumping around in her chair as she holds the food in her mouth— unable to decide whether to swallow it or spit it back into her bowl.
"HA " Camilo mocks ruefully, his throat remaining confined, tight and dry.
"You're going to ask Y/n Guzman on a date? That's wonderful, " Pepa laughs enthusiastically, the most vibrant rainbow painting itself over her head— so bright it's enough to blind anyone. Camilo whips back around towards his mother, hitting his chest rather violently.
"Ay no, Mami! I'm not asking anyone on a date—! " He coughs out, reaching for his glass of water and bringing it up to his lips, chugging almost the entirety of it as it washes down whatever had gotten stuck in his throat pipe.
Pepa's rainbow clears from over her golden, ginger locks almost instantly.
Ever since Pepa had witnessed Mariano dropping to one knee in front of Dolores, a ring in his hands— she has been the second happiest person in all of The Encanto (second to her daughter, of course.) And although she couldn't be any more ecstatic as of late; she couldn't help but feel a little unhappy when she thought about it.
Just the other night had she thought— 'It's only a matter of time before Camilo finds someone for himself, then the next thing I know— he'll be getting married as well.' The idea of it made her sad, but, she knew it was inevitable. She's wished to be that mother that teased her kids about crushes, marriage, grandkids; but she wasn't quite sure if she was ready to really let any of her children go just yet. Including Dolores.
But, she refused to be clinging to the youth of her children— especially since Dolores and Camilo are so close to readiness, ready to work on their own accord; to function without their mother. Besides, she still has her beloved Antonio.
"O-oh, " She mutters, can't helping but to feel the slightest of disappointment.
Camilo takes notice of her sudden change in tone almost instantly, or just as soon as the smallest of gray clouds gather over her head.
"Er, I mean— I'm not asking anyone on a date, today! " He laughs awkwardly, twisting his pointer finger into the wood of the table.
"'Milo?" Mirabel whispers, uncertainty in her voice as she clenches her glass of water close to her chest.
Camilo waves to her dismissively, yet silently.
"I— I'm gonna ask Y/n Guzman to be my date to.. uh. " He reluctantly turns towards Dolores, who swallows the food in her mouth and turns away, wanting nothing to do with the situation Camilo has made for himself.
"Dolores' wedding! " His hand slams onto the table. "Ye-yeah, I was thinking since Mariano and Y/n are siblings— it'd be perfect for me to take Y/n. " He laughs, chuckling to himself with the most uncertain and nervous smile spread across his lips.
"But, you just said Mariano and Y/n are siblings— isn't Y/n already going to be at the wedding— " Félix starts, but Pepa is quick to press her finger to his lips, hushing him in the process.
"That's wonderful, mi hijo. " Pepa smiles brightly, a gush of wind knocking the clouds out of the way and bringing a vibrant rainbow to present in its place. "When are you going to ask? ' She questions eagerly, hands clasped under her chin.
"Uh— tomorrow? " Pepa gasps.
"Oh, mijo, so soon? Well, the wedding is in a couple of days— it's best to get ready when you still have the time. Dios mio, now I have to find something new for you to wear, you can't wear that old ruana to your first date. " Pepe rambles, her mouth producing what seemed to be five words each two seconds.
"Oye! " Camilo whines.
"My wedding too, Mama! " Dolores takes a drink of her water, realizing her mother might have forgotten her wedding is happening the same day for a moment.
"Right, right! You'll have to match the wedding theme, you can't wear white but that old naranja ruana won't do it. Mirabel, come— I need your help figuring out what Camilo should wear. " Pepa turns to Mirabel, who— having migrated away from the conversation —is now stuffing her face in broth.
She stops for a moment, spoon halfway to her already full lips. She swallows it all in one large glug, coughing for a second after.
"En seguida! " Mirabel states, lifting her bowl to her mouth and slurping up the last of her food before jumping up from the table; following her Tia into the next room.
"What's wrong with my Ruana..? " Camilo mopes.
"Ah— Mi amor, your dinner! " Félix hollers, holding two full bowls in his hands.
He stands there for a moment, no response can be heard from him nor Dolores.
He sighs, an admiring smile adorning his face. "I guess its dinner in the nursery tonight, see you niños later. " And just like that, Félix leaves the dining room as Isabela takes her seat at the dinner table.
She turns to Camilo, "You're a horrible liar, you know that? " She teases, a mischievous smile stretching across her face.
"Psh! I'm not actually going to ask Y/n on a date. " Dolores quirks an eyebrow.
"Are you sure? You saw how excited Mama became, she's expecting you to have them on your arm on the wedding day. Unless you can figure out a way to explain to her that you lied, you're in deep ¡Mierda. " Dolores pauses, letting the sudden reality hit Camilo and sink into the atmosphere for a moment.
"But, they should'nt be coming until the day of, right? You have some time. " Camilo hums, his hand fiddling with the hem of his ruana.
He laughs, awkward and loud, letting his sister on cousin now he's already done something wrong.
"Actually, I invited Y/n to La Casa, they're coming over tomorrow. " He mutters, ashamed and embarrassed but loud enough for them both to hear.
Dolores comes to a stop, letting her spoon fall into her bowl. Suddenly, her eyebrows knit together and a wave of irritation comes over her.
"You better figure this out, Camilo. Or else I'll be getting married in a thunderstorm, and Mama's heart will be broken. " Dolores warns, her tone solemn and sympathetic, yet the slightest bit venomous.
With that, Dolores picks up her bowl and dumps it in the sink, leaving the dining room with her nerves strained.
Camilo slumps in his chair, fiddling with his hands as he sinks further under the table. Isabela slides a bouquet across the table, an assortment of flowers tied together with a ribbon binding them at the waist of their stems.
He stares at them for a moment.
"You'll be needing those if you want Y/n Guzman to say yes, good luck, Primo. "
The day was warm, colourful and busy, just like any other. With the Encanto bustling with life, the Madrigals work hard to prepare— the wedding now just five days away. In La Casa Madrigal, Pepa runs in circles around her son, Camilo, who sits in a chair in the midst of her room.
"Oh! I found it, finally! " She exclaims most excitedly, a thin makeup brush in hand.
She runs over to her son, kneeling in front of him as he bounces his leg nervously. Taking a small compact out from her pocket, she daps the brush into a dark brown powder; she then rests her hand on the side of Camilo's face, spreading it across his eyelid.
"Te vas a ver tan guapo, so handsome! " She compliments, pecking his cheek lovingly as she blends the eyeshadow into his skintone.
A speck of eyeshadow falls to his nose, he inhales it.
He sneezes rather violently, his feet kicking off the ground and his hands gripping the edges of the chair— accidentally, he turns into the one and only person who has been on his mind since last night, Y/n Guzman.
Pepa giggles to herself, watching as Camilo shakes his head and transforms back into himself.
"Oh, 'Milo, I'm so excited for you, how are you feeling? " She asks, standing and repositioning herself as to pay full attention to his other eye.
Camilo hesitates for a moment. A thought crosses his mind, before his mother had barged into his room this morning to dress him in a freshly washed ruana and white button down— he had contemplated maybe telling her the truth. Realistically, the chances of Y/n saying yes to his proposal was slim. Of course, they've only actually met once and even though Y/n was extremely comfortable around him— he couldn't imagine for the life of him; them saying yes.
He noticed the particularly rosy cheeks when he made them laugh, the way his absolutley crap guitar skills made them smile— the way they acted with such flirtatious charisma when they played for him. But as far as he knows, it all didn't mean anything special.
Despite how much he'd like for it to be that way.
He isn't even certain what he's feeling, but it's most definitely a crush. No way could he fall in love in the matter of just five hours.
But regardless of what he felt, he knew the truth would only disappoint his mother— and he could never do that, especially if it means chancing the possibility of ruining Dolores' wedding day.
He hums, "Nervous, excited but nervous. " The truth falls from his lips, an awkward laugh slipping past them.
"Aw, " Pepa clicks her tongue, finishing up Camilo's eyeshadow. She stands from her knee and walks behind him, resting a hand on his shoulder as his eyes open to himself in the mirror. "There's no reason to be nervous, Mijo. Who could say no to this handsome face, huh? "
She grabs his cheeks and stretches them, making Camilo wince but laugh softly at the same time.
'Oh, you'd be surprised. ' Camilo thinks to himself. Sure, he was extremely charismatic but that didn't mean he was always successful with men and women his age out in town. In fact, Isabela told him once that his cocky attitude was a little offputting to them.
'Humble yourself a bit, Primo. ' At the time, Camilo thought maybe she was just being mean— jealous of his inhuman charm. But now that he looks back at it, it's more of an intelligent piece of advice.
Pepa walks over to her vanity, resting her brush and compact onto the desk. She turns to her son, hand finding it's way and caressing his cheek gently; she gives him a soft peck on the bridge of his nose.
"I'm so proud of you, mi nene. " She hugs him, squeezing him tightly. He reciprocates the hug, smiling wholeheartedly. "Now, " She starts, letting go of Camilo.
She reaches over her vanity and picks up the bouquet Isabella had made the night before. Wrapping his fingers around the stems, Pepa places them gently into his grasp with such happiness; a small rainbow forms over her head, adorned with a white cloud or two.
"I love you so much, and I'm sure Y/n Guzman will too. " She motions for Camilo to stand, and he does, following her to the bedroom door like a baby duckling following its beloved more. "Now, bring me home a ____ in-law! " She exclaims excitedly, pushing Camilo out the door and into the middle of the hallway wherein he almost trips over himself.
He stiffens up for a moment, roses gripped tightly and pressed against his chest almost suffocatingly. It takes a moment, but soon be loosens up, inhaling deeply and exhaling twice as hard. Squinting his eyes, he opens them and blinks repeatedly, looking down to the still fresh bouquet in his hand.
"You can do this, no pressure. " He whispers breathlessly to himself, nodding softly.
"Mariano, Y/n! " Camilo's heart stops, Dolores' voice echoing across Casita as the doors open slowly, behind them standing Mariano and Y/n Guzman, gifts and guitar in hand.
Camilo almost faints at the sight of them. Out of absolute raw anxiety, he hiccups himself into Mariano, Pepa, Dolores— then Y/n. He tucks himself away into the next hallway.
'Correction, a lot of pressure.'

______________________________
A few more months had passed and Natalia was in the final trimester of her pregnancy. Julieta found Natalia in the music room, playing an unusually melancholy song on the piano. The look on Natalia’s face was difficult to read, but Julieta could tell something was troubling her.
"Nati?" Julieta said, knocking on the doorframe.
Natalia stopped playing as she turned to look at her sister-in-law.
"Oh, hi Juli. I'm sorry, I didn't see you there."
"Are you okay honey?" Julieta asked, not wanting to beat around the bush.
Natalia sighed, her fingers still on the keys she had last pressed. She looked down at her hands for a few seconds before looking back up at Julieta.
"Is it normal to feel...both overjoyed to be becoming a mother but absolutely terrified at the same time that I'm going to totally mess it up?" Natalia asked quietly.
Julieta smiled knowingly as she walked up to Natalia, putting a sympathetic hand on her shoulder.
"Ven aquí, let's talk." Julieta said softly, motioning to the couch near the doorway.
Natalia stood up and stretched, her back stiff. They both sat down on the couch and Natalia looked over at Julieta, waiting for her to speak.
"How you're feeling is 100% normal." Julieta began, her voice kind and reassuring. "Becoming a parent is an enormous responsibility, and being scared of messing it up just means that you care. I was terrified when I was pregnant with Isabela."
"Really?" Natalia said, her eyes wide with surprise. "You're such a natural with kids, your daughters adore you. How did you do it?"
Julieta chuckled. "Thank you, you're sweet to say that. It's been a combination of trial and error, Agustín being the wonderful husband that he is, and just loving our kids like crazy. You and Bruno will learn as you go, just like we did. No two children are even remotely the same and it will be an entirely unique experience with your own children. You two have such a strong relationship and love for one another, that love will translate into being incredible parents. I'm certain of it."
Natalia smiled weakly. "Thank you. I hope so. I'm just...so scared sometimes. I love them so much already and am terrified of not doing right by them. It's crazy thinking about how everything will change.”
"It will, no getting around that." Julieta said with a nod. "But it will be the most beautiful change, and life will become a whole new adventure filled with love you've never even dreamed was possible."
"I can imagine. I love your kids ridiculous amounts so I can’t even imagine the depths of your love for them as their parent.”
"That love is bigger than I could ever put into words. Pepa and I also have the fantastic gift of hindsight to guide you through the things we wished we'd done differently or are glad we handled a certain way."
"And I already can't thank you enough for that. Things like what, if you don’t mind me asking?"
"Well for one, we have a family rule where whenever one of us was pregnant–and it'll be the same with you and Bruno–that the new parents take one "free day" a week as it were during the baby's first year. One day each week the family would take care of the baby, and the other kids if they'd been born yet, while the new parents slept, went out, or what have you. The first few months Agustín and I mostly used that time to sleep, but as the months went by we used it for running errands we didn't have time to do earlier in the week or having date nights together. And we didn't always take the free day, sometimes we just wanted more time with our babies, but knowing that day was an option made it so we never went absolutely insane from sleep deprivation and got to still enjoy time with our husbands and keep the romance of our relationships alive. The whole family always helps take care of the kids every day, but the free day rule was made specifically to apply to the first year.”
"Wow, that's a great idea, and really generous of the rest of the family to take that responsibility on." Natalia said, visible relief on her face.
Julieta put her hand on Natalia's shoulder, smiling sweetly at her. "We Madrigals take care of one another, you know that."
Natalia smiled back at her. "I sure do.”
"Bruno volunteered to take on the kid watching a lot in the years before he was gone." Julieta said, her expression nostalgic. "The kids absolutely loved their time with him, he's always been wonderful with little ones."
"I'm very lucky to have him." Natalia said with a smile.
"And he's lucky to have you." Julieta replied. "And the rest of us will be here for absolutely anything you both need. You know what they say, it takes a village to raise a child and our family is an entire village all on its own."
Natalia chuckled. "That's very true. Thank you, that all makes me feel so much better."
Natalia paused, looking down at her lap before she spoke again.
"I feel like it still shouldn't be this way, but I guess I’m still adjusting to having so many people looking out for me." She said softly. "So much of my life was just me, my dad, and my tía. Since my dad passed away and my tía being at the age she is, I've pretty much been entirely dependent on myself for a long time now. Having a big family of people to help me with things and not having to tackle pretty much everything alone, while absolutely incredible, is something I'm definitely still getting used to. I forget sometimes that I have so many incredible people to lean on and seek guidance and strength from."
"I completely understand." Julieta said, nodding her head. "You’re independent, self sufficient, and headstrong. Those are all things to be proud of, and things that all of us love about you, but don't forget that it's okay to ask for help when you need it and to lean on us whenever you need it. We are all so grateful to have you as a part of our big crazy family, and we will always be here for you."
Natalia sniffed, her eyes getting teary. She leaned over and hugged her sister-in-law tightly.
"Thank you so much, Juli. I love you."
"I love you too!" Julieta said sweetly. They pulled back from their hug and Julieta took both of Natalia's hands in hers. "Feeling a little bit better?"
"As always, you've managed to heal me in one way or another." Natalia said, making Julieta chuckle. "I'll be okay, I'm just working through things in my head and tackling emotions that are feeling so much bigger because of all the hormones."
"I know you'll be just fine, but talk to me any time you start to feel unsure again, okay?”
Natalia nodded. "I will, I promise."
"Now, let's go have some of the cookies you brought home yesterday." Julieta said, standing up and smoothing out the front of her dress. “I’ll enchant them to ease some of that back stiffness that I can see is bothering you.”
"Oh man, thank you. Sounds like an amazing plan." Natalia stood up, wobbling a bit unsteadily at first. She giggled at her own movements. "Did you ever get used to being so front-heavy and unstable during your pregnancies?"
"Never." Julieta replied with a laugh. "I always felt like an overinflated balloon."
"Oh man, that's exactly how I feel." Natalia said. "Or like, an overfilled jelly donut, because my brain operates almost solely in baking terms."
Both of the ladies laughed, heading out to the kitchen.
____________________
Later that evening, almost everyone in the house had retired for the night. Bruno and Félix walked into the living room and found Natalia sitting on one of the couches with a book resting on her belly. Antonio was seated next to her paying close attention.
“And when the knight approached the castle, he saw that there was a giant fire breathing dragon blocking the gates!” Natalia read from the book, her narration dramatic and exciting.
Antonio gasped, eagerly waiting for her to keep reading.
Félix and Bruno smiled, folding their arms and waiting patiently in the doorway for Natalia to finish reading the story.
“But the dragon was no match for the knight and his enchanted blade!” Natalia continued. “He easily slayed the dragon and rescued the beautiful princess who had been trapped in the tower above.”
Antonio looked visibly relieved, hanging on her every word.
“The kingdom was saved, and the knight and the princess lived happily ever. The end.” Natalia said with a smile, closing the book.
“Read it again tía, read it again!” Antonio cried out.
“Not tonight, big guy!” Félix said, scooping Antonio up from behind the couch and plopping him on top of his shoulders.
“But Daaaaaad!” Antonio pouted.
“Your dad’s right, it is way past your bedtime my love!” Natalia said.
“Okayyy.” Antonio said in defeat, yawning halfway through his word. “Good night tía, good night tío.”
“Good night buddy.” Bruno said, putting his arm around Natalia’s shoulders.
“Good night sweetie! Sweet dreams.” Natalia said with a smile.
“Listening to you read that story, you’ve got a lovely voice, mi amor.” Bruno said with a grin. “Ever thought of becoming a singer?”
Natalia laughed. “I’ve tossed the idea around.”
“Soon you’ll be reading epic tales of dragons and princesses to our own little one.” Bruno said, kissing Natalia on the cheek.
“I know, I can hardly believe it!” Natalia said excitedly. “I officially can’t see my feet anymore, so we must be getting close. I might not even have feet anymore and I wouldn’t even know it.”
Bruno laughed, looking down at her legs. “I can confirm you do still in fact have feet.”
“Phew okay, good to know.” Natalia joked back.
She looked up at him with a big smile, and he leaned down to kiss her gently.
“Hey, I know it’s a little late but I was going to take a bath before bed.” She said. “Want to join me?”
Bruno took his arm off of her shoulders and looked at her with a very serious expression. “If I ever say no to that question, assume something is horribly wrong with me and I need medical attention immediately.”
Natalia laughed loudly, and reached her hand out to him. He intertwined his fingers with hers and they walked to the upstairs bathroom.
They locked the door behind them and Bruno began getting undressed while Natalia ran the water in the bath.
Natalia tried to hug him once his chest was bare, but couldn’t get too close to him with her belly. She laughed, a pout on her face.
“I can’t reach you!” She said, then looking at her reflection in the mirror after she got undressed. “I feel so much like a stranger in my own body some days lately, I look like I ate a beach ball.”
Bruno smiled, taking her face in his hands. “You are absolutely stunning, sweetheart. Beach ball eating and all. Come on, we can get closer in the tub.”
Bruno got in the bathtub first and Natalia followed, carefully sitting down in between his legs. The warm water and Bruno’s skin on Natalia’s back felt wonderful to her, and she snuggled into him as much as she could.
They got the actual cleaning part of their bath done quickly. Bruno moved Natalia’s hair to one side and kissed her along her shoulder and neck. She exhaled contentedly at the feeling of his lips on her skin.
"I talked with Julieta for a while today, she really helped me work through some nerves I've been having about the baby." Natalia said.
"If anyone understands that sort of thing, it's her." Bruno replied. I'm sorry you've been dealing with those nerves my love. I know you know I'm always here for you, but I'm really glad you had that time talking with her."
“Thank you love." Natalia said. "Juli also told me about your family’s ‘free day week during the baby’s first year’ thing. That’s a really good idea.”
“Yes, and let’s be sure we actually use it.” Bruno said. “I had to practically force Juli and Agustín to do that with Isabela. Isabela was pretty much constantly crying her first year so her and Agustín were always exhausted but felt bad leaving the crying baby to anyone else. Eventually their exhaustion got the better of them and they took their free days regularly which made them like new people essentially overnight.”
“I’m grateful, I really am.” Natalia said. “Knowing we’ll have so much help with the baby makes the whole thing feel so much less daunting.“
“Raising the kids really is a whole family activity around here.” Bruno said.
*************************
“Plus,” He added, cupping Natalia’s breasts with his hands, “We’ll want time to, you know, make some more babies. Don’t want them too far apart in age, right?”
Natalia giggled, her heart rate quickening at his touch. “Of course. I mean, I figured that was no small part of what many of our free days would entail. Wouldn’t want to get out of baby making practice.”
Natalia felt Bruno’s erection growing on her back and she began feeling more and more aroused as he continued to squeeze and caress her swollen breasts.
“You’re so beautiful.” Bruno whispered, his words drenched with love. “I can’t get enough of you.”
“I want you so badly but I can’t do any of the normal positions we would normally do in the bath.” She said.
“Don’t worry about that right now.” He replied, reaching around to her center and beginning to pleasure her with his fingers.
Natalia leaned her head back into Bruno’s shoulder even more, his kisses along her neck turning into a sucking motion on one spot that was driving her wild. She knew she’d have a bruise there the next day, but in that moment she couldn’t care less.
“Ah, Bruno–“ Natalia breathed out, the usual aching her body had been feeling melting away as she focused on how good his fingers felt rubbing away at her.
“Say my name again, gorgeous girl.” Bruno growled in her ear.
“Bruno, god baby–“ She moaned out softly.
She turned her head more and kissed him, breathing heavily into their kisses as he brought her closer and closer to her peak.
She gasped as her orgasm finally surged through her, leaving her momentarily breathless. The endorphin rush was like a painkiller all over, making her feel as good physically as she had all day.
“That was incredible but I want you inside of me.” She whispered, turning her head back towards him.
Bruno kissed her several times. “I have an idea, let’s get back to our bed.”
They dried off, wrapped their towels around them and quickly went into their bedroom.
Bruno guided Natalia onto their bed and faced her away from him. He laid beside her, and when she felt his erection up against her back she quickly figured out his plan.
“Are you ready for me, bella?” Bruno asked, lining himself up to enter her from behind.
“Yes, please.” She whispered.
He put himself inside of her and began moving in and out of her slowly, both of them letting out relieved moans at his entrance.
He wrapped his arm around her waist, the position comfortable and intimate for both of them. Deep thrusts were uncomfortable for Natalia at this stage in her pregnancy, but Bruno had no issues keeping her satisfied with less deep penetration.
She felt an intense g-spot orgasm approaching quickly as he made love to her, and she took his hand and gripped onto it tightly.
“You feel incredible, god–“ Bruno said into her shoulder, his breath warm on her skin. He squeezed her ass with his free hand, the sensation electrifying for them both.
“Oh baby you’re going to make me come again, Bruno, Bruno–" She sighed.
“Come for me my perfect girl, I want to feel you come on me so badly.” Bruno said softly, his tone of voice only adding to her rising pleasure.
“Fuck, fuck–“ Natalia groaned as her second orgasm in the last hour clenched around him inside of her.
“Dios yes, just like that baby–“ Bruno said, quickly reaching his own climax. He tightened his grip on her ass as he came, his orgasm intense and several seconds long.
*************************
He panted into her shoulder and she reached around to touch him wherever she could find his bare skin.
She turned to face him, and the look in her eyes made him feel like his blood was on fire.
“Once this baby is born and I have my range of motion back I can’t wait to ride you until your thighs are bruised.” She said, her voice low. “I’m going to rock your world, Bruno Madrigal.”
Bruno gulped, his head dizzy at her words. “You’re going to kill me talking like that. I can’t handle myself around you.”
She smiled as she leaned her face in close to his, their lips only a few inches apart. Her eyes were sparkling up at him, her expression having changed to something more emotional. His heart was pounding, barely able to stand how close they were without touching.
“I love you.” She whispered before melting her lips into his. He moaned at the contact, so desperately in love with her he couldn’t keep his thoughts straight.
He took her face in his hands, desperate to pull her in as deep into the kiss as possible.
They kissed for several minutes, and only stopped because Natalia suddenly let out a startled noise.
“Oh, sorry!” She laughed. “The baby kicked!”
Bruno smiled widely, looking down at Natalia’s belly. He put his hand on it, and looked up at her excitedly as the baby kicked again.
“I felt it!!” He exclaimed. “I know I’ve felt kicks before but wow, it never stops being incredible.”
“Can you believe we’re going to meet them soon?” Natalia asked, smiling brightly at him. “Our baby, a little Bruno and Natalia joining the magical Madrigals.”
“I am the luckiest man on Earth, truly.” Bruno said, gently resting his head on her belly.
Natalia ran her fingers through Bruno’s hair, her heart full as she watched him.
“Do you ever think about what, if any, gift the baby will end up having?” Natalia asked. “I know we won’t know either way for five more years, but I’ve just been thinking about it lately. Watch, our baby will get like, super speed or something and we’ll never get a break.”
Bruno laughed. “I honestly couldn’t even begin to imagine. But whatever gift they get, or even if they don’t get a gift at all, we’ll get through it together.”
“I know we will.” Natalia said.
She looked over at her husband lovingly, truly grateful for how much better she was feeling at the end of what had started out as a difficult day.

Presumably the Madrigals are still badmouthing scapegoat!Isabela while golden-child!Mirabel is getting closer to her. Mira doesn't strike me as the type to just keep going along with it, but when does it start feeling wrong? Does she ever try to defend Isa (even if in small ways), or does she just stay silent/disengage? If she's bothered by Isabela talking about herself like she's a problem, I can't imagine how conflicted she feels hearing her family act the same way (bitchy as Isa is to them).
mmmm. Mmm this Mirabel is a bit more cowardly than canon!Mirabel. She has a lot to lose and she's VERY scared of losing it so she tries her hardest to never make Alma mad or disagree with her. She mmmmmay correct her if Alma had her facts objectively wrong ("I can't believe she wouldn't do X", "actually, she did do X, but someone else ruined it later"), because that's something Alma can accept she can tolerate being told she was wrong about an objective fact. She will even thank Mirabel for clearing things up for her. It's opinons and interpretations that are the problem. And Mirabel is already scared of telling Alma that Isabela actually did what she was asked she just didn't notice or whatever, so telling Alma that "actually, Isabela can be really sweet, she just feels like she needs to constantly defend herself" or "I can see why she'd go all cactus and attack as a defense, but I'm sure that if you talked to her she'd come around" - now that is beyond her capabilities. Mirabel just doesn't have the strength. She mostly goes through the motions of agreeing, saying "you're right, Abuela" and " I agree" without really meaning it or thinking too much about it. This is the case especially around the beginning of the story before she becomes more loyal to Isabela. After a while she just keeps shyly quiet, then begins to feel angry to hear them talk shit about her all the time. I can see her blurting out a "no, that's not true" all of a sudden, surprising Alma in a very bad way and eliciting an odd fight between the two, one that may or may not leave Mirabel having a panic attack later because shit dude she fucked up she fucked up. She meant it tho. She just wanted to defend her sister and when they see each other again later she can't say she regrets it. But it still terrified her to make Alma mad at her. AND EVEN THAT would take quite the character arc for her.
I imagine at first she'd talk shit about her like everyone else, even during the beginning of their "friendship" because she sees this whole thing as her being a precious wonderful martyr offering grace and kindness to the evil undeserving swamp witch so she's not being nice to her genuinely, she just thinks she's fucking jesus or whatever. There's no big liar reveal or anything because Isabela never bought Mirabel's attempts (she was always a terrible liar). It's not until Mirabel starts to see Isabela for whom she really is that she begins to feel bad about the way she's treated her and the way the family continues to treat her.
She may be more willing to defend Isabela in front of Luisa or Camilo, maybe, because 1) she doesn't take Camilo that seriously and 2) Luisa is lowkey scared of her. Mirabel sees it as, like, she thinks she's leading poor shy Luisa out of her shell and helping her do things she couldn't do alone, but in reality Luisa feels Mirabel is always talking over her and ignoring her concerns. She feels intimidated. So if she's ever commenting on Isabela's shitty behavior in a way that seems unfair to Mirabel, Mirabel doesn't feel worried at all about telling Luisa just how wrong she is, and of course Luisa doesn't think to argue back, but she may or may not bring it up to someone else if it ever comes up, that Mirabel seems to be getting close to Isabela. She doesn't say it in a judgmental way, she's just commenting on something she noticed, but it may raise an eyebrow or two.
Of course not all criticism is undeserved - Isabela continues to torment poor Dolores for no reason at all and she desperately needs to be called out for that because it's a very shitty thing to do. Dolores is the only person who criticizes her rightfully and doesn't make shit up because she doesn't need to, and she has actual valid concerns, so if anything she's the person that deserves Isabela's bad treatment the least. And if Mirabel hears anything about Isabela's behavior that seems legit (not only about her treatment of Dolores but of everyone else too), she will agree genuinely and get mad at Isabela for all the right reasons and will probably call her out on it. She's not scared of challenging Isabela at all, and ironically that means she'll become closer to her than to any other family member, because they give 0 shits about what the other thinks of them so they're perfectly honest and hide nothing, express themselves without shame and eventually gain a deeper understanding of each other. and then they fall in love uwu
but yeah after a while it just starts to hurt a lot, hearing their family talk about Isabela as if she were a curse, a problem or an obstacle they need to rise above. At times it sounds like she's not part of the family at all. They think she betrayed them. That she's spitting in the memory of her grandfather and his sacrifice by misusing her God-given Gift, that she's sullying the Madrigal name and that she's the greatest disappointment the family has ever seen. It sounds like they don't even love her. And Mirabel feels so guilty for not speaking up, so weak and cowardly, because Isabela doesn't deserve this, but... she's too scared. And she doesn't know how Isabela can stand her when she lets them talk like that but she's too scared to bring that up as well. it doesn't matter. Isabela knows and she forgives her, because she's been there before, and she knows it's hard but that doesn't make her love Mirabel any less.
Mirabel DOES however always stop Isabela when she says those things about herself. She ALWAYS tells her she's wrong to think she's unwanted and that everyone else would be better off without her. She wants her sister to know she's good, even if she doesn't have the courage to tell the family the same thing. Isabela just offers her a tight smile and thanks her without meaning it.
