chishiya shuntaro was not a very affectionate man when in a relationship. some may say he's emotionally unavailable, and while at times it appears to be true. it's times like this when you're able to see that he can be loving at times, mainly during times like this. times where he showed his true colors on how he felt about you. that he loved you.
waking up in a bed next to him was odd, especially being the first time he's even dared to suggest it, but you couldn't just say no. the sunlight was peeking through the halfway shut curtains, and when your eyes opened you immediately closed them again, squinting. you felt movement beside you and froze when you felt an arm wrap over you.
"why're you awake?" chishiya's groggy morning voice muttered into your ear.
"because you're dumbass half-assed closing the blinds," you retorted, your eyes still closed.
"sorry about that," he said, peering down at you as you laid there still. "do you want food?"
you hummed no in response, shaking your head whilst doing so and rolling over to wrap your arms around him, making it his turn to freeze up at the action. "i wanna sleep more."
"we have to get moving eventually, you know," chishiya sighed quietly, laying back down on his back. "i would rather not spend the whole day in bed."
"just five more minutes please?" you asked him, finally opening your eyes to look at him. you rested your head on his chest, one of your hands moving up to his hair to fix it back into place from it messy state.
chishiya sighed again. sadly, he wouldn't say no. well, he didn't want to say no. so with one of his hands still around you, he leaned down slightly and gently placed a kiss on your forehead, "fine. but i'll be counting."
"mhm, sure," you replied, your voice laced with sarcasm as you spoke. "before you know it, it'll be half an hour."
rolling his eyes, chishiya laid his head back on the soft pillows behind him. "this is weird," he mumbled absentmindedly.
"hm? why is that?" you couldn't help but ask. you were still looking at him, only now with confusion as to what he meant by those words.
shrugging, he responded with, "i never thought i would be with someone like this is all. so it's weird."
"well," you patted one of your hands on his chest, making him look down at you, "i feel safe with you, shuntaro. so even if it feels weird, i'll still be here with you. okay?"
chishiya nodded as an answer. turning his head to read the digital clock on his side of the bed to read the time, he then looked back at you. "you better get back to sleep before it hits 9," he said.
"9? that's so close," you whined, resting your head on his chest again. "now i can't get back to sleep."
"just go back to sleep, y/n, it's okay," chishiya told you, lightly poking your head with his pointer finger.
"are you sure?" you questioned, pushing his hand away from you.
"yeah," he nodded. "don't worry, i'll be here when you wake up." he added, this time gently patting your head.
"promise?"
"i promise."
"okay then," you said with a smile, your head laying down on his chest as you closed your eyes again. "i hope you know i care about you a lot."
"yeah, i care about you too, y/n." chishiya responded, leaning down and kissing your head again, pulling you closer to him subtly.
"a little too much, probably."

hii i saw that requests for alice in borderland were open and i rann 🏃🏻‍♀️
could you do a scenario where chishiya and banda have a crush/interested in the same s/o?? how tense would that be, especially in the solitary confinement game?? 👀👀👀
A/N: Oooo this is an awesome scenario idea, thanks for your request!! I'm still open for AIB requests until the 15th, so if you're interested then send some in!! A particular ask has caught my attention for after this... jealous Chishiya 😵😍 Little obvious disclaimer that the GIFs aren't mine- but look at Chishiya's, he's staring RiGhT aT uSsS 😭
Chishiya and Banda Both Crushing On You Includes...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
💛• How'd you even manage to get the attention of both these guys?!??! I'm jealous 🥲 because the way these two fall for someone, combined, is basically the most intense and warm and crazy hot experience you'll have in quite a while. Let's say that this all starts in the Jack of Hearts game:
💛• With Chishiya, he's drawn to the little, unnoticeable things that interest him, like being a lot smarter than you look, or making a good decision that surprises, or even outwits him somewhat. There's not much of that in the borderlands, apart from Arisu's selflessness that absolutely confuses him until he starts admiring it, and the deadliness of the games, everyone looks like they're going to die. Except you. So he'll most likely start following you around - very subtly - observing your way of doing things and interacting with other players, until he properly approaches you. Probably asking you for his symbol on his collar, and asks you if you want yours. If you turn him down but give him his or something, he'll actually be taken aback... in a good way, because now he's obsessed with wanting to know how your mind works. So, basically, you've got yourself a new partner.
💛• With Banda, however, subtly and patience are not his things. All it takes is one minute of eye contact, or hearing something a little psycho come from you, anything that's potentially original and beautiful to him, and suddenly he's right in front of you with that dark smirk, giving you a twisted but flattering compliment. That's it. Now you've got a new protector who grows oddly possessive and obsessive over the first few rounds, pulling you back when you think about joining the others' big group. You don't need them. You've got him.
💛• So when the two ultimately end up bumping into each other when they both go to talk to you or something, there's just a moment of stretched, painfully strong silence as Banda eyes up this new 'distraction' to your attention, and Chishiya takes him in with that annoyingly indifferent, and kind of smug, look, before his brown eyes meet yours. Banda looks in your direction too. No pressure 😅
💛• I mean, Chishiya tolerates pretty much everyone, but Banda lurking around and infecting your brain with his sadistic ideas of entertainment and advice on how to win every game like he has, is something he's apprehensive of. He'll see how you react to it at first before jumping in, but overall, Chishiya thinks you're the first truly curious and inspiring person that's caught his attention in the Borderlands, and that's something he doesn't want to let slip as soon as he's found it.
💛• Banda has little to no empathy or care for anyone except what you're happy and unhappy with, so he's gonna be pretty forward with Chishiya and give him one of his hushed, intimidating, close-up threats to move along and find someone else to play with. When Chishiya retorts smugly with a comment about how the last women he hung around with suddenly made it onto the murder section of the newspapers, he'll get a deathly glare in his eyes, and basically the only thing stopping him from snapping at that moment is the rule of the game being that you can't outrightly hurt anyone.
💛• They let it go for now, but neither one of them is put off from hanging around with you. The rest of the players in the big group find it odd how you're just sitting there at a table, and within a few moments, Chishiya comes striding in offering his snack with you, sitting beside you on the table, all the while Banda's unblinking gaze is fixed on you from the other side of the cafeteria, where he sits on the floor against the wall. The Jack probably notices it too, but doesn't say anything, since no one really wants to see Banda Sunato get angry.
💛• Once the game has gone on and it's over, Banda has some 'business' to attend to with Jack, and probably makes you wear a tracker or something so he knows how to come and find you when he's done and figuring out how he can have more, or all, control over the lands. Cocky psycho even tries to kiss you goodbye too, and whether you let him go for it and leave you flustered after an intense few moments, or push him away gently with a blush is your choice. Either way, he'll still respond with one of his smirks and a wink before he causally pulls out his pocket weapon and goes into one of the cells after Jack.
💛• That just leaves you with Chishiya, who Banda has 'trusted' to keep you safe while he's gone. Since Chishiya figured it all out with him and survived the round in a pretty impressive way, Banda doesn't misjudge his intelligence and capabilites, even though he seems a little too relaxed when entering these life-or-death games. Still, you'll end up leaving with Chishiya wandering by your side and making small talk about who you are as a person as you go for the next game, or to meet his gang from the Beach, like Arisu. He's surprisingly talkative in his own way as he uncovers more about you and listens to every word you say, but when the questions are reflected back at him, the answers are simple and short - at first, anyway. It's not all because he's reclusive, but mostly because he didn't really like his life, or have much of one, in his opinion, before the Borderlands. But now, maybe he does. Intelligent and nice to look at. He'll stick around for sure 😉
💛• Elsewhere, Banda basically pulls up every file and piece of information on you instead of outrightly asking. It's safe to say that he's an obsessive and possessive crusher/lover, and he'll make that known once he's sorted things out and comes to find you again. And he will come and find you again 😏

Tremors | Niragi Suguru | [A, F]
Summary: Between your unspoken worries and Niragi proudly showing you the game he's been working on, something goes wrong and it's a mess. [real world au] Word count: 5.7k Warnings: mentions of abusive relationship, implied smut
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The train shakes and you sway from side to side in your seat. It’s a nice day, the sun is shining and the breeze is gentle on the skin. Everyone has to be enjoying it somewhere outside because the train is almost empty. It’s a rare and welcomed occurrence.
You look out the window, barely able to stay still and control your bubbling excitement. You watch the building and trees pass by in a blur of movement. You watch the clouds, try to count the white cars, anything to keep your mind from wandering and imagining. It’s useless really. The only thing on your mind is him.
If you’re honest, it’s a little embarrassing that you’re like this. You’re not a highschooler anymore, and this isn’t a stupid crush. Your relationship is long established, long enough that you’d think the bubbly and nervous feelings one associates with new love would long since disappear, but that’s not the case. Maybe you’d be a little more accepting of the childish rush of joy in different circumstances, but as it stands it’s only been a week since you’ve seen Niragi. A week. And you have chosen to take some time for yourself. So there’s really no reason you should be feeling like a child about to go to Disneyland.
But there’s more to it, isn’t it? You sigh and lean your forehead against the cool glass. Feeling like a bubbling pot that got its lid taken off, you deflate in your seat, pondering.
Niragi’s been stressing over work again and he’s insufferable when he’s stressed. Not always, but usually. Sometimes it’s quite nice. He gets more dominant. And hungry. Always so hungry for you and your body. Fucking like rabbits is about the only thing that calms him. And you’re not complaining. If only that was it.
Other times, like now, he’s… well, not the same.
He gets more dominant as well, but in a different way. It’s almost controlling. And loud. All he does is yell and you can’t seem to do anything right. He’s a perfectionist. And whenever he’s stressed, nothing could ever meet his standards. He has a bad temper, you know that about him. You’ve always known. He doesn’t do too good of a job hiding it - if he’s even trying at all.
The point is, in times like this he’s actually scary.
He’s never hurt you but you’re not sure he wouldn’t ever do it.
Not on purpose. You don’t think he’d ever get violent with you like that. However, you can imagine it happening by accident. You’d say or do something wrong, or maybe just be at the wrong place at the wrong time when his frustration is at its highest and bam, your body would hurt and he’d look at you like he doesn’t recognize you. You can almost feel the sting of your cheek, your fingers touching the tender skin. He’d just stand there with a shocked expression, and he’d be shaking. Would he try to approach you? Would he apologize? Cry? Double down?
You can’t be sure, but just the reality of you being able to imagine the scene so vividly in your mind scares you. It’s not right, you know that. But he can be so sweet. He is sweet. He needs you and you need him. Maybe once you’re not so young and wild it’ll get better - then again, the clock is ticking.
Your phone buzzes and despite your gloomy thoughts you smile when you see it’s a message from Niragi. And then another one. He always gets so clingy when you’re not around. Apparently something came up so he won’t be able to make it to the station to pick you up. And he tells you to hurry. To go straight home. To text him when you get off the train. And to text or call him if you even think anyone is being creepy. You roll your eyes.
Niragi has a habit of being way too possessive and protective. Not that you mind, not really. Your social circle is tiny anyway, and more than anything you want your friends to be his friends too. It’s challenging, but you make it work. You’re more of a homebody too, and if Niragi suggests it and you do go party in a club, you’re more than happy to stay by his side.
And he likes it. He’s always walking around carrying himself like he owns the place, as long as he has his arm tightly wrapped around your waist. You must admit that it feels good to you too. It’s hard to feel wanted in this world. Niragi makes you feel that way.
That being said, it has its drawbacks. Should you get separated, things tend to get messy. For some reason he always acts a little off after he finds you. He drapes himself over you, he won’t let you go anywhere alone. If you didn’t know any better, you’d say he needs to reassure himself somehow by clinging to you. Like needs. But that doesn’t make any sense, does it.
And if someone touches you, it’s over for them. Niragi always miraculously finds out and makes sure the person in question knows they’ve fucked up. It usually ends up either with you dragging Niragi away by force or the two of you getting kicked out after he started a fight. More often the latter. He’s really scary when he’s angry.
But so sweet when he isn’t.
As soon as the train stops at the station, you get off and text Niragi as he told you to do.
If you get here within thirty minutes, I’ll show you what I’m working on.
He always knows how to shift your mind to what you love about him. You’re out of the station and hurrying through the streets towards your second home right away. There are so many memories hidden behind each corner. The cafe you frequently visit and have Niragi tease you about the drinks you pick. The park where you so often walk and enjoy the sunshine during the summer and his eyes linger on you just for a second longer when you smile at him.
It’s so easy to forget all the bad times. The red flags.
You skip down the streets and smile at strangers you pass. Might as well spread the good mood in some way.
Few minutes later, you’re unlocking the door to the apartment building and running up the stairs. Another minute later you finally unlock the front door and step into the apartment. It smells like home here, more than in your actual home. You take off your shoes and turn to lock the door. Before you get to finish the task, however, you’re pushed against the door and there’s a firm, warm body on yours. His hands are already wrapped around your waist and his lips press openmouthed kisses to your neck. You shiver, chuckling.
“I missed you too,” you sigh, finishing locking up. You turn in his hold and Niragi wastes no time melting his lips against yours, tongue invading your mouth as soon as he gets the chance. You moan into the kiss and feel him smirk. He takes his time kissing you like he needs to make sure you’re real. That you’re still his. Remind you of his claim over you. You let him, wrapping your arms around his neck.
Finally he lets you breathe, but he doesn’t move away. He needs to breathe the same air you’re breathing, his forehead against yours. His eyes are dark but with a hint of softness. You raise a hand to his face, gently stroking his cheek with your thumb. He leans into your touch.
“We should really talk some more about you moving in,” he says. There’s a teasing lilt to his voice but you know better than to believe he doesn’t mean it. You know it’s something he’s wanted for a while and that he’s getting impatient. The only thing that’s keeping him from blowing up at you about it is, you guess, that you’re basically living here anyway.
“Missed me that much, huh?” you tease back, avoiding the conversation. You’re not in the mood and you know it would end in a fight. He knows too so he lets you off the hook. For now. You give him an hour at most, and in that time, you need to prepare yourself for whatever is about to come. Why are you so hesitant to move in anyway?
“You have no idea, baby,” he purrs and with one last kiss he pushes himself off you. You go unpack the few items you’ve brought with you. It’s true that you’re basically living here already. You have most of your stuff here, he let you - in a rare case of a compromise - reorganize the kitchen and bathroom so that the stuff you need is within your reach. The apartment already feels and for all purposes is your home.
At the same time you like the freedom and opportunity to escape his bad moods that having your own place, albeit shared with roommates, provides. But then again, his apartment has privacy, and well, him. What’s worse - his moods or missing him? You wish you knew.
You finish unpacking and change into more comfortable clothes before stepping out of the room to look for your boyfriend. You yelp when he catches you from behind, licking a long stripe up your neck. You smack his arm playfully but give him a stern look.
“I told you I hate it when you scare me like that,” you pout though he can’t see it with his face buried in your neck.
“I just want you to be prepared. The game is pretty scary, you know,” he hums against your skin, sucking a mark just under your ear. You gasp, and for once it’s not because of his attention but from the implication in his words. You know that the project they’re working on right now in his job is just some fps shooter, nothing scary.
“So it’s the one you’ve been working on this whole time? The solo project?” you turn in his arms, cupping his face in excitement. He nods and bites his lip, watching you gush about how much you’re looking forward to seeing it, listening to your praises of his hard work and dedication. He shushes you with another kiss, this one slower but deeper. You smile. He only kisses you like that when you make him flustered. Or that’s what you call it anyway because it sounds better than admitting he kisses you because he doesn’t know how to cope with whatever he’s feeling. To admit you’re sure that a kiss is not the first thing that comes to his mind as a reaction. You’ve noticed the twitch of his eyes, the slight strain in his smile.
It’s the same look he gives you before he beats a drunken guy that flirted with you.
Niragi isn’t very vocal about his feelings. He never talks about his feelings. Honestly, you think he isn’t really feeling them, pushing them all away until he blows up. You get it. Anger is safe. Anger doesn’t hurt him. But it isn’t very productive either.
He’s never told you much about his past, which is telling in and of itself, but from the scraps of information you’ve pieced together, you suppose you understand.
Still his serious communication issues cause problems in your relationship sometimes. Understandably. Which makes it even more surprising that you can’t say that there’s ever been a time you haven’t felt loved. He makes sure you know it, proving it with his actions rather than words. Your friends might tease you for it but you know they’re also jealous. For all his imperfections, you can’t imagine someone would love you as much as he does.
And maybe that’s the problem.
He pulls away and you smile warmly at him. He warns you that it’s not done and that there are some bugs and stuff to be done but you assure him you don’t care. You know it’s going to be as perfect as it physically can be. With how critical he is of himself, he wouldn’t allow his work to be anything less than perfect.
You study him as you walk through the apartment. He looks the way he always does, cool and unbothered but you see the little hints. He’s nervous. Of course he would be. You know how much time and effort he’s put into this alongside the projects for his work. Despite what most people think about him when they see him, Niragi is actually really smart. Like very fucking intelligent. It scares you sometimes - mostly because he’s also really childish and impulsive. Not the best combination.
“You sure you wanna see it? I thought you said you don’t like scary stuff,” he smirks. It makes you pause for a bit. This is the second time he warns you about it, something he never does. He hates having to repeat himself.
“Is it really that scary?” you ask, worrying your bottom lip between your teeth. He cups your jaw and runs his thumb the flesh, almost daring you to bite him with his eyes. You don’t.
“Just a little bit,” he shrugs and it doesn’t make you feel better but you decide that this is really important to him so you’ll manage. He looks at you expectantly.
“Alright, show me then,” you nod at him and jump a little to look cuter. It must work because he smiles and shakes his head, his hand falling to the small of your back.
He leads the way to his home office. The blinds are closed. The room is dark, safe for the light from the screen. It’s clean, not a speck of dust to be seen, but messy with all kinds of cables and parts lying around. You remember he’s been talking about upgrading his computer for a while.
He sits down on his chair and you don’t need any encouragement to sit on his lap. One of his hands wrap around your waist, his chin resting on your shoulder. It feels good. Safe. Domestic even. You feel yourself relax despite the curiosity gnawing at your nerves. This position is familiar and your brain is flooded with another wave of memories.
Why are you so on edge today?
His arm around you feels like home. The hours he’s spent holding you like this while you played a game on his lap, or watched him play, feel like liquid comfort. You could drown in it.
With his free hand Niragi controls the mouse, clicking away until the screen goes dark and the game starts. You jump a little when you hear music coming from the speakers. How did he do that? He chuckles, pressing a kiss to your shoulder.
“One of the guys helped me,” he explains as you mouth a silent ‘how’. You nod, remembering that one of his coworkers was dabbling in music, sound effects and the like even in his free time. Your friends are his, his are yours. No matter how few of them there is.
He explains the controls to you, tells you what to do and not to do unless you want to crash the game but nothing more than that. You listen attentively and immediately try what he told you in gameplay. Sometimes you feel him tense behind you, clench his jaw or sigh when he notices a mistake or something he doesn’t like. You do your best to reassure him, commenting on things you like instead. Or turning your head to kiss him. Distraction works the best.
So far it seems like a pretty standard game. The main character is a university student. You can’t see much about them as it’s in the first person pov. They are on their way from school now. The music playing in the background started off nice and pleasant but gradually it just keeps getting more and more ominous, hitting a crescendo when colorful fireworks erupt in the pinkish afternoon sky.
“Huh? Isn’t it too early for fireworks?” you comment off-handedly, turning to look at Niragi who just bites your shoulder and nods for you to pay attention to what’s happening on the screen. You shake your head but listen, intrigued.
When you look back, the surroundings have changed. The streets are dark and abandoned. It’s quiet. You frown and feel Niragi kiss up your neck.
“It’s not scary yet,” he whispers into your ear helpfully. You trust him-
You trust him.
You trust him and walk around the city with your character in search for clues. You find nothing. You’re just about to ask your boyfriend for help when the building not far away lights up. You make a little confused sound but go to the destination. It says that a game will soon start there.
“So meta,” you tease, only to be bitten again. There’s more strength to it now. It comes as a surprise and it startles you. You hyperfocus on him.
“Just you wait,” he smirks. He’s getting excited, but you feel like he’s getting more nervous too. It’s worrying you a bit. There’s that spark in his eyes and in the way he speaks, but his hand on your waist holds you tightly. Almost too much. Thumb of his other hand is stroking across your tight. You decide to just go through with the game without analyzing his behavior too much. It still passes as normal.
So you go with what the game tells you to do. There are more characters now that you can interact with. You talk with them some, learning more about them but not the situation your character got stuck in, unfortunately. You praise him for his writing skills, and you swear he both preens at the praise and gets the rug pulled out from under his feet with it. Your heart aches a little. Why can’t he take a compliment?
Then the game in the game starts and all your thoughts are thrown out of the window.
It’s brutal. Try as you might, the characters around you all die in horrible ways. Sometimes by accident, sometimes because you don’t react fast enough. Either way it’s horrifying, not in the jumpscare-ish type of way, but something inside you just doesn’t take it well. Maybe you just feel for the characters too much, got too absorbed, whatever the reason might be, you’re shaking and your eyes are tearing up and then you can’t focus and your character dies out of nowhere and you jump back from the keyboard.
Niragi is there to catch you. One of his hands is still around your waist, the other one stroking through your hair now. He lets you turn to the side so you can bury your face in his neck. He kisses your forehead.
“I told you it was scary,” he scoffs. It’s hard to notice since he’s trying to hide it but you know him too well. He’s upset - angry. As always, it’s a puzzle what the anger means. He remains gentle though, caring. So your best guess is that something about your reaction has hurt him. Of course anger is the only reaction he knows to that. He won’t tell you what’s going on either. You know that if you asked, or worse pushed for him to answer, he’d explode on you.
Maybe he’d really hit you this time.
…Stop.
“Yeah, I’m sorry I’m such a coward,” you murmur, nuzzling closer to him, “But maybe I could just watch you play instead? I mean if there’s more.”
He tenses again. You move so you can look at him. He looks confused and you give him a tight smile.
“I mean, the idea is cool and I’m curious what other games there are but it’s too cruel for me to play,” you admit, “You know, I guess I’d rather die myself than let someone else die.” Finally he huffs a small laugh too. It’s the one that means he thinks you’re being stupid but you don’t mind. Whatever was troubling him seems to have receded at least slightly.
“You’re unbelievable,” he mocks but he leans closer and takes control of the character as the game where you died starts over.
You stay cuddled to him, watching and wincing as he goes through his own creation. His playstyle is the exact opposite of yours. He’s cold, merciless. If there’s an option to sacrifice someone, he does so without a moment of hesitation. If the task is to kill, he’s happy to bash somebody’s head in.
Not just the character but Niragi himself.
You watch him intently, perhaps more than you watch the screen. There’s a wide, pleased smirk on his face. He laughs every time he gets to kill someone in an especially painful or morbid way.
It’s genuine, that smile, that laughter. Bright and happy.
You feel your heartbeat speeding up and deep down you wonder if you really know who your boyfriend is. You understand it’s just a game, but the excitement in his eyes is too genuine. He’s really into it. If you’re honest, it worries you. Then again, maybe it’s just because of the thoughts you’ve had for the last couple weeks. You wonder if you’re only worried because now you can imagine him both beating you and having fun doing it.
You shake your head a little. No. Your Niragi would never.
Not on purpose anyway.
The room goes perfectly dark and you realize he switched off the computer. You straighten up and smile at him in the darkness. Now that his hands are free he wraps them around you again. You gladly accept the comfort. The reminder that he’s not a monster, that he’s warm and that he loves you.
“Was it that bad?” he asks. The excitement from the game lingers in his voice but you note the other thing in his voice. It’s like he’s testing you. He’s a good actor when he needs to be.
“It was great, actually,” you hum and loop your arms around his neck. You play with the loose strands of his hair. He hasn’t tied it today, you finally notice.
“That’s why you kept looking at me?” There’s a hint of irritation in his voice. You know you need to be careful now.
“Yeah, I told you it was scary. It does a great job of setting the mood and when you talk to the characters, I could really feel for them and it was just hard to watch them die,” you share your opinion, whining a little at the end, “And I’m curious about the storyline! I can root and relate to the main character so I think it’s really well done. I guess I’m just too soft for it.” You chuckle and see him roll his eyes even through the darkness. You sigh, leaning closer. He’s still a little worked up. His shoulders are tense and he holds you close instead of caressing you. You kiss along his jaw and he melts under you, his hands sliding down to your hips.
“Besides how am I supposed to focus with this handsome eye candy right in front of me,” you tease, sucking on his neck, “I really missed you.”
He growls, grabbing your chin and slamming your mouths together. It’s good. He’s not angry. He wants you. You press yourself closer to him. You’re desperate to feel him, to have him. You just want your boyfriend, not the paranoid images your mind insists on creating.
“We’re not done here,” he says nonchalantly when he’s done kissing you breathless.
[…..]
He orders your favorite food for dinner and you laze on the couch together, waiting for it to arrive. You’re lying between his legs, back against his chest. He’s so warm even with the clothes separating you. You’re playing with his hands, intertwining your fingers, admiring how large his hands seem compared to yours. He allows it, relaxed and, dare you say, happy.
You talk about things that happened since you’ve seen each other, he mostly talks about work and you about your own life and the shenanigans that your roommates got into. He listens, only ever interrupting to kiss down your neck or bite your earlobe. You feel playful enough to get revenge when it’s his turn to talk. You know Niragi loves the attention as much as the knowledge that you actually listen to him, making little noises to let him know you’re still focused on his words despite nibbling on his neck.
You’re happy and comfortable. This is how relationship should feel, and for a moment you forget about the intrusive thoughts that have been bothering you.
“What do you really think of the game?” he asks finally. Of course your bubble of serenity had to disappear eventually.
You should’ve known it was still on his mind.
You sigh, holding his hands on your stomach. You think for a moment before speaking. Somehow the atmosphere turned serious and heavy. It’s important to him, more than you thought. That much is clear. Only you don’t know why. You know you need to be careful, but honest. So you take your time choosing your words.
“I think… Well, trust me or not, I see the appeal. It might not be my cup of tea but I understand why some people enjoy games like this. Shit, let me play when I’m stressed and I will be into it like no one else,” you laugh and see him smirk at you, tucking a stray strand of hair behind your ear. There’s a strange look in his eyes, almost cautious. It doesn’t look good on him. You’re not used to seeing him like that.
“I mean, we all need to relieve our stress and frustration somehow. Sometimes people just feel like destroying something, hurting someone, killing someone,” you speak slowly, calmly, “Just… Just know that even if I don’t enjoy playing games like that, your game, it doesn’t mean it’s bad. And that you like it certainly doesn’t make you weird or anything. I don’t care. I’m just happy to see you happy. I love you, you know?” You smile, your little rant now over. You shift higher to kiss him gently. He returns the kiss, all remaining tension left his body.
“So what was your favorite mini-game? Was it live-or-die maze one?” he inquires, pulling you closer. You chuckle, more than anything glad to see him return to normal. And this question, you can answer.
You talk for hours. Laugh, kiss. He seems different. You can’t pinpoint how exactly, but you feel it’s not a bad change. You feel like you didn’t fuck up with your answer.
[…..]
It doesn’t take long for him to seduce you again once you’ve had dinner. Frankly, you’re surprised he waited that long.
Sex with Niragi is always amazing. Even if he’s in a mood for a rough and long night, he takes care of you. And as always, tonight too you fall asleep in his arms, safely wrapped in his loving embrace.
What’s unusual, though, is that you don’t sleep peacefully.
Your mind is plagued by nightmares. Visions of people screaming in agony, running away. You can’t move, paralyzed with fear. You don’t see what they’re running away from until it’s too late.
Niragi.
But it’s not your Niragi. This version of him is different. He looks the same but there’s a cruel glint in his eyes. He swings a gun around like it weighs nothing. He shoots every single living thing around, laughing at the mayhem. You make the mistake of whispering his name. He looks your way and tears flood your eyes instantly. He knows you. But you wish he didn’t.
He reaches you quickly and pulls your hair. You scream and call for help, struggle against him, pushing and punching but he’s so strong and he keeps laughing and you’re crying and scared and desperate.
“y/n!”
Your eyes shoot open and the first thing you see is Niragi and you panic, trying to escape from him. But then obvious hurt and confusion flash across his face, just for a second, before his jaw clenches and you know he’s angry and holding himself back, letting go of your arms and sitting back.
It wasn’t real.
He’s straddling you, running his hand through his hair. This is your Niragi. The one with many flaws and dangerous anger issues but also the loving boyfriend who always keeps you safe.
Not the psychotic maniac you saw in your dream.
Your body reacts on its own. You lunge forward and hug him tightly, squeezing the life out of him. He stills before, carefully, he envelops you in his arms. You sniff, nuzzling closer, hiding your face in his chest.
He strokes your hair and back, slowly so he doesn’t scare you. You listen to his heartbeat, bask in his warmth. He’s quiet. You can almost hear the gears turning in his mind. Despite his behavior sometimes, you know he’d hate it, hate himself, if you were truly afraid of him. And you know that’s exactly what he saw in your eyes before - fear.
“Can we lie down?” you say weakly and Niragi nods. His hands never leave your body as he helps you lie back down and tucks you under his chin. Having his arms around you makes you feel safe and soothes you, even if you can feel the nervous, angry energy radiating off him.
You try to shake off some of the lingering anxiety and tangle your fingers into his hair. It seems to help both of you relax until you’re able to speak. Niragi’s not going to ask, you know that, instead he’ll wait for you to talk, getting more and more impatient in the process. You really need to talk to him about that.
“I had a nightmare,” you begin slowly, still playing with his hair.
“Guessed that much,” he comments. Venom drips from his words and you’re both annoyed and shaking your head at his childishness. But underlying is the urge to flinch.
This is your Niragi. Not the nightmare one.
“You were there,” you mention and suddenly he’s paying close attention, “But… You were different. Like you were in the game. You were just killing everyone and then you saw me and I knew that it didn’t matter because you’ll just hurt me too and you looked so… satisfied.”
You feel his arms tighten around your shaking body. You haven’t even realized you were trembling.
“You think I’d hurt you?” he asks, tone flat. It’s unfortunate that he asks the question you’ve pondered for weeks. At least you know the answer. But are you ready to say it?
You know he’s close to snapping already. Not in the violent outburst, no, not now that you’re shaking in his embrace. But the silent, cold distancing himself thing he does sometimes. That one hurts more, mainly because then you know he’s hurting. You don’t want to hurt him. Somehow it feels like that’s what he expects of you, and you want to be better than that. However, you also want to be honest with him.
Sometimes, there’s just no way to win.
“No,” you sigh, “You wouldn’t hurt me intentionally. I know that. But… I don’t know, maybe if you lost control or something, people do all kinds of things then.”
Before you can raise your head to look at him, worried about his reaction, he does it for you. He holds your jaw between his fingers and there’s fire in his eyes you haven’t seen before. His hold is tight, bordering on being painful, but it barely doesn’t cross that line.
“I would never hurt you, understand?” he growls lowly, desperately.
The fire is just embers now, a crazed look in his eyes. Similar to the look he gives you anytime he pulls you to the side when you speak to a new acquaintance.
There’s fragility to it, you think. You might just be imagining that though. It’d make sense, what with him being so clingy and possessive, but that always felt like his way of asserting dominance. Could you have been wrong?
“Never. You’re mine and I promised I would take care of what’s mine,” his voice drops lower.
You smile a little. He did. It’s been the first thing he told you after you accepted his proposal to go on a date.
And maybe he’s telling the truth. Well, he certainly is - the truth he believes in anyway. You’re hesitant to believe it too, though. He has tremendous self-control, that much you know, but he slips up sometimes. Every human does. Perhaps it won’t happen in the near future or maybe never, but the fact is that you cannot shake off the feeling that one day he might hurt you, even if he won’t mean to.
“Only yours,” you sigh and bump your nose against his. He frowns at you. He hates these cute displays of affection. You kiss it better, melting against his lips. The piercing in his tongue is a nice distraction from everything else, its round and smooth shape curious against your tongue. You love it and he knows it. He smirks when you won’t stop playing with the metal stub.
“I could make you more tired if it helps you fall asleep,” he whispers suggestively into your ear but his touch remains tender and loving. Despite that, you know he’s serious. He has a special talent to turn even the most innocent things heated in a second.
“I love you, Niragi,” you chuckle, “Just hold me, please.” You kiss the corner of his mouth, cuddling closer to him. He smells like home. You let your hands fall to his chest, feeling his heart beating under your palm.
“Never gonna let you go, baby,” he promises and pulls you closer, stroking up and down your spine with his fingertips. Another one of his little unspoken love yous. You smile and trail a little path of kisses on his shoulder.
No. Your Niragi couldn’t possibly ever become like the one in your dream… could he?

AIB PREFERENCE: JEALOUSY
ʟɪᴋᴇ ʜᴀᴛʀᴇᴅ, ᴊᴇᴀʟᴏᴜꜱʏ ɪꜱ ꜰᴏʀʙɪᴅᴅᴇɴ ʙʏ ᴛʜᴇ ʟᴀᴡꜱ ᴏꜰ ʟɪꜰᴇ ʙᴇᴄᴀᴜꜱᴇ ɪᴛ ɪꜱ ᴇꜱꜱᴇɴᴛɪᴀʟʟʏ ᴅᴇꜱᴛʀᴜᴄᴛɪᴠᴇ.
Tumblr media
Arisu:
Sort of like a lost puppy; he's jealous but doesn't know what to do about it. Will usually sit by you as if trying to remind you that he is there and the two of you are in a relationship. If he feels like your pursuer doesn't understand, then he will hesitantly explain to them that you two are together but pretty much hopes that you'll tell them off for flirting with you. Definitely asks Karube for some advice on how to deal with jealousy.
Tumblr media
Karube:
The hot kind of jealous; he has that jaw-clenching thing down. Karube finds himself being green-eyed frequently. You're with him, and he thinks everyone should respect that but pair that with his trait of being protective, he gets jealous quite a lot. Definitely wouldn't admit to it, but plus side, he looks sexy as he fumes in the corner with his arms crossed over his chest, watching you; well, that's until he begins stalking over to you. Good luck to anyone who tries anything flirty with you.
Tumblr media
Usagi:
Doesn't realize she's jealous at first, she gets really annoyed when people flirt with you, but it takes her a while to understand. She'll fight for you, not physically, unless they try to hurt her, then she will protect herself and you. She's the type to stay close by and scoff at your admirer's words, her eyes roll every few minutes, and you can literally hear her teeth grinding, but she gives you a wide smile and thumbs up when you catch her mid-annoyance.
Tumblr media
Chishiya:
Honestly, Chishiya's jealousy varies. While he is completely laid back, on the other hand, when it comes to you, he isn't willing to leave things to chance. He believes he is the best choice for you and knows you'd never leave him, but he doesn't like seeing people try their luck. Straight-faced, but no one sees his clenched fists inside his jacket pockets. His sass is 10/10 if he catches your admirer alone; he doesn't want you to see him jealous. Hates when Niragi flirts with you to try and get a reaction out of him.
Tumblr media
Kuina:
When Kuina gets jealous, she gets stuck between 'fight and insecure.' While she wants to go and roundhouse kick anyone threatening her relationship with you. She does, unfortunately, feel some sort of insecurity. She wonders if you'll fall for their jokes or looks, but then she remembers you're with her, and then her fight comes back. The type to physically defend you when needed.
Tumblr media
Niragi:
He refuses to believe that he gets jealous. He is simply overprotective. You're his, so he's obviously just being protective of you as he glares at anyone daring enough to look in your general direction or brave enough to talk to you. Niragi is the type to take his annoyance out on you because you should have done something to stop that person from flirting with you. In his mind, you're asking for attention if you don't immediately rebuff other's advances.
Tumblr media
Ann:
Her jealousy comes out in her emotions, her disgust for people shows clearly on her face. Treats anyone like they're a germ if she catches them flirting with you. She's not the type to get in a physical fight over it, but her sass could kill anyway. If you ask what's wrong, she'll just ignore the question and kiss you in front of the 'perpetrator' side-eyeing them during it.
Tumblr media
Mira:
Sits silently like a pouty child, but on the inside, she's plotting murder. Mira's jealousy could be seen as the calm before the storm type. If you question her jealousy, she gives a small giggle and laughs it off, but inside, her wrath is building. She is not the type to take her jealousy out on you, but god help whoever she thinks is trying to take you from her.

"go away before i punch you in the throat, chishiya", you said when you heard the door to the roof open, not bothering to turn around. as if you'd ever let chishiya see you cry. he'd find a way to use it against you. you were still mad at him for what he put arisu and usagi through.
"it's not chishiya", someone answered. you'd recognize that voice anywhere in this miserable world.
"ah, arisu, it's you. come here, sit with me", you said, patting the ground next to you with a shaky hand.
"will you punch me in the throat?", he asked, still getting closer slowly, making you chuckle, feeling the dried tear streaks on your cheeks tighten your skin.
"no, i won't", you mumbled, a small smile on your face.
"are you okay? after the game... you were...", he said, trying to piece out a sentence in the most thoughtful way possible. he didn't have to, though. it was just how it worked for you: you always understood what he meant and was glad that he put thought into not hurting you. no one had before.
"yeah, i was a bit shaken. not because of the game, though. that boy? with the green sweater?", you said, looking at arisu while he nodded, eager to have you open up to him. while the two of you were very good friends and, unbeknownst to the other, both had feelings for each other, having you open up to him was like seeing the planets perfectly align. arisu felt as if you knew all about him and he knew nothing about you. an annoying voice spoke on the back of his mind and a faint burning ugly feeling bloomed on his chest. did the green sweater boy knew all about you?
"he was my best friend when i was a child. my only friend when i was a child, actually", you said with a bitter laugh, not meeting arisu's eyes with yours anymore, suddenly very interested on the gravely floor. you missed the way arisu's eyes widened but you knew he had put two and two together. he quickly realized that every piece of insignificant information he knew about you was recent. high school then college and work. as if your childhood never happened at all.
"but... he... he didn't even recognize you", he said, recalling the way that you screamed the boy's name to make him turn around and avoid a trap on the last second. he then scanned the people around him. a middle aged woman, a boy with his p.e uniform, arisu and you. he didn't even bat an eye at your presence.
"yeah, i know", you sighed the sentence, looking up at the night sky. the sky was one of the perks at this new country, especially the night sky. "i made sure that no one would recognize me", you whispered and arisu did a double take. he was nervous now, what did you mean?
"huh?", was all that he managed to say after a few seconds of silence. your brows furrowed and something dark took over your features. although arisu fell in love with you and you two maintained a good friendship, he remembered what tatta told him when he came to the beach. "she's a good player, huh? i don't know why she's not a militant. i heard that she did all types of awful things to get through games. maybe aguni has a good reason not to recruit her. i know that i'd be scared to have her running around with a gun'.
"do you think i'm beautiful, arisu?", you turned to look at him, whispering. if he was blushing because of the question, it doubled down when you locked his eyes in yours, he couldn't look away to hide his burning cheeks and opened and closed his mouth over and over. you didn't change expression, didn't laugh at him, nothing. you asked him that as if you had asked him what his favourite color was.
"i- i... i mean... yes. i do. i do find you... beautiful...", he lost momentum as he continued to stutter but with how close you were sitting, you didn't need him to say it out loud, especially when you thought he was lying.
"i wasn't always", you said and arisu thought he must've looked as  confused as he really were because you added. "beautiful. i wasn't always beautiful", you sighed. arisu scoffed before he could stop himself. you and not beautiful were like magnets with the same polarity in his mind. absolutely incompatible.
"when i was a kid. i was ugly. really. and he was the only kid that was nice to me. at first i thought it was a dare of sorts, told him to go kick rocks or bother someone else but he didn't let up. until we became friends", you said, taking a deep breath and closing your eyes for a couple of seconds before continuing. "i couldn't understand why. i didn't know what he saw in me that made him want to be my friend. he always said that i was funny and smart and kind when i wanted to be. and i always said that it didn't mean a thing if i looked the way i did. i said it, everyone else said it. my mother said it", you said. arisu was laser focused now. "one day me and my family had to move. then there would be one more year of classes then highschool. and i decided to change. i changed the way i looked and as i did that, i kind of became someone else. i guess because of the hate that motivated me to do it. i became cynical, boring. quiet. who i am today. that's why he didn't recognize me", you said.
"you're not ugly. or cynical or boring or quiet", he said, swallowing the nervous lump on his throat before reaching out and grabbing your hand. you smiled. his hand was warm and clammy. it was sweet in an awkward way, just like he was. you looked up from your hands to stare him deep in the eyes.
"not with you, i'm not", you said and you spend a minute in silence.
"when i saw him there i felt like a little girl again", arisu's eyes were as big as saucers when he saw you getting choked up and shedding tears. "and i don't want to be that little girl. i hate that girl. i killed her", you said.
"you didn't. you didn't", arisu shook his head vigorously.
-
niragi was livid. he didn't listen much of the conversation but he listened enough. all he knew was that arisu was getting too close to you for his liking. there was a boy in a green sweater that meant a whole lot to you. and you and him were cut from the same cloth.
he barely was able to tell last boss to keep an eye on you and to not kill arisu as to not traumatize you, but to make sure to keep you both apart while he went to the city. he had someone to kill.
and then everything would fall into place. he'd get to number one on the beach. and you'd be his queen.
welcome to another segment of: this could've been a multichapter but ehhh it's so harrrddddd to wriiiiiteeee.

For Better or Worse
Pairing: Niragi x Fem!Streamer!Reader
Genre: Fluff? I think?
Warnings: A (literal) shotgun wedding, Dubcon if you squint, Niragi using pet names
Word Count: 2.4k
A/N: I never really planned on writing an xNiragi, but I couldn’t get this idea out of my head sooooo hope you enjoy! :D
Tumblr media
Great. Just great.
You had been all set to marry the man of your dreams- kind, attentive, encouraging of your career as a popular streamer, and now… now you were sitting on the steps of the darkened wedding chapel, in a post apocalyptic version of Tokyo.
If only your stupid fiancee had kept his damn mouth shut, you might be happily cutting into your wedding cake right now, but nope! He just had to tell his best man that the only reason he was even with you was because of your family’s business connections, and that he was screwing one of your bridesmaids on the side right as you passed by the room he was getting ready in.
You’d told your maid of honor you were just going to step out for a breath of fresh air, but the moment you stepped outside, the fireworks appeared, and everything went dark. When you’d walked back inside, there was no one inside either of the wedding halls and no one in any of the side rooms. It was like they’d all just disappeared, leaving you to fend for yourself in a ballgown wedding dress and high heels.
For the first two hours, you’d run around the block, looking in every store, office, and apartment, but finding no one in those either. Next, you walked back to the chapel, screaming every curse under the sun and tearing the bouquet in your hands apart. After that, the shock of being all alone had worn off, and you sunk on to the front steps, crying your eyes out. And now, finally, as the sun was setting, you had come to accept it- you had obviously been isekaied into an alternate reality, and needed to figure out what to do next.
“I guess the first step is finding a safe place to stay…” As you stood up, your stomach growled, and you put your hand on it, sighing, “And some food…”
Just then, the chapel behind you lit up, bathing you in warm light. The doors swung open, and the appealing fragrance of baked goods wafted outside, as well as the soft notes of string instruments. You’d played enough games to know that something was obviously trying to get you to walk right into an important plot point or boss battle, but you honestly didn’t care. You were starving, and tired, and just wanted to get whatever this was over with.
“What the hell?” But you were not immediately greeted with enough candy and pastries to make even Hansel and Gretle’s witch jealous like you thought you would be. No, you were greeted with a table full of cell phones, and a sign which read:
Entry Limit
Four
Time Limit
30 Minutes
Prize
Wedding Cake and Champagne
You had no idea what any of that meant, but you decided to pick up a phone, and were surprised when it suddenly booted up.
Face recognition in progress. Please wait a moment. was displayed for a moment, before ID10000227 appeared.
Before you could further question what was going on, the sound of a car pulling up and loud, happy voices alerted you of other people coming. Without really thinking about it, you hid in the nearby coat closet, peeking through the slats to get a look at the newcomers. Two people, a man and a woman sporting swimsuits, walked in, laughing and chatting as they were followed by a man in dark jeans and a monochrome giraffe shirt. All three of them carried weapons, the biggest of which was a sniper rifle being carried by the guy in the giraffe shirt.
“So, wedding hall this time, huh?” The sniper casually commented as he picked up a phone, looking around with half interest.
“Ooh, maybe we have to decorate a big wedding cake or something fun like that~” The woman proposed, also grabbing a phone.
“Oy, Niragi,” The last guy was staring at the table, “There’s only one phone left.”
“So? Just means someone’s already registered,” Sniper replied.
“Yeah? Then where the fuck are they? Because there’s only three of us here, and no one was dead on the steps when we pulled up.”
“Could be a trick,” The woman shrugged, “Make us think there’s an extra person around to raise paranoia.”
“Hm… Or…” Glancing around the hall, the sniper’s eyes landed on the closet you were in, and he smirked.
You only had a second to react, shrieking in fear as you ducked in order to miss the bullets shot right where your head had been a moment before. In a flash, the door was opened, and the sniper loomed over you, a sadistic grin on his face.
“Found you~”
“Eh? What’s she doing over here in the closet?” Walking closer, the woman crossed her arms as she got a proper look at you, “In a wedding dress, no less.”
“Think she just got here?” The other man smirked.
Crouching so he was eye level with you, the sniper wiped away one of your tears, “What’s a cute little blushing bride like you doing all alone somewhere like this?”
You have no idea what came over you, but in that moment you regained a little bravery, practically sneering, “P-Playing hide and seek, obviously.”
For a moment, you didn’t know how these very much armed, very dangerous looking people were going to react, but found yourself relieved when they burst out laughing.
“Oh she’s funny!” The woman snorted.
“You might want to be a little less sarcastic, kitten,” Amused, the sniper stood up before leaning over to grab you and force you on your feet as well, “We might be the only people standing between you and a gruesome death~”
Not leaving you time to respond, the other man grabbed the last phone and registered.
“Four participants have arrived. Entry has now closed. The game will now commence.”
“What fun game do we get to play this time?”
“Difficulty: Six of ♥.”
“Oh fuck offffff! I hate ♥ games!” The woman groaned, only confusing you further.
“Six of ♥? Like a playing card?”
“Hah, told ya she just got here,” The second man sneered.
“Game- ‘Shotgun Wedding.’ Rule- In pairs, you will answer questions about your ‘fiancee.’ Approximate answers will give you one point, while exact answers will give you two points. All questions must be answered, and no cheating is allowed. Clear Condition- Be the couple with the most points after all questions have been answered. Should both couples get the same number of points, both pairs win.”
“Alright, then how’re couples determined?”
“In order of registration, please pair up with your fiancee and enter separate halls.”
“Looks like it’s you and me, darling~” The sniper wrapped his arm around your waist, winking at you.
“Ooh, tough luck, Niragi, getting paired with the stranger,” The woman chuckled, linking her arm through the other man’s as they walked towards the other hall, “We’ll make sure Aguni holds a proper funeral for you!”
Watching the other couple enter their assigned hall, you began to tear up again.
“Oh gods, we’re going to die, aren’t we??”
“Relax, we have a better chance than they think,” Still smirking as he led you to your assigned hall, the sniper whispered in your ear before nipping at it, making butterflies flutter in your stomach. He was dangerous, you had empirical evidence of that, but damn if he wasn’t attractive in a fucked up sorta way.
At the end of the aisle was a robot priest, a shotgun on each side of them. Fabulous, everyone here was armed except you.
“Please, fill out these wedding registration forms before we begin. You have five minutes,” As you approached them, the robot held up two clipboards. At least that was a normal part of the wedding process, you’d had to fill one out for your wedding to your first fiancee. At least, you thought it would be normal until you actually looked at the form.
It started with the standard name space, but took an immediate left in asking for your favorite food, dream vacation, and what the last lie you told was. In total, there were fifteen questions, and you felt more doomed than ever. Still, you filled it out, and turned it in.
“Both forms have been turned in. Will the couple please stand in front of me and join hands,” Following Robo Priest’s instructions, you stood facing the sniper, and put your hands in his. Immediately, a pair of handcuffs were placed around your wrists.
“Kinky,” The sniper licked his lips, causing your cheeks to heat up.
“Please don’t joke about this…”
“Oh, I’m taking this very seriously~”
“Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to witness the holy matrimony of this couple. We will now begin the vows- First question: What is your fiancee’s name?” Robo Priest turned to you, “Partner one?”
“Niragi! I heard them call him Niragi!”
“The correct answer is Suguru Niragi. One point for correct surname. Partner two?”
“Y/N L/N,” He answered without hesitation, catching you off guard. You’d never met, as far as you could remember. There was no way you’d forget a man like this one.
“The correct answer is Y/N L/N. Two points for correct full name.”
“How do you know my name??” You whispered harshly, only for Robo Priest’s eyes to turn red.
“Please, no conversing with your fiancee unless instructed to. You will not be given another warning. Question two- What does your fiancee do for work? Partner one?”
“Gods, I don’t know… Professional marksman?”
“The correct answer is video game engineer. Zero points. Partner two?”
“Video game streamer.”
“The correct answer is streamer. Two points for specific job title.”
Oh, now it made sense… He was a fan.
Wait… A game engineer named Suguru Niragi…
It suddenly clicked in your head who he was, and your eyes widened.
“Question three- What is your soulmate’s favorite food? Partner one?”
This time, you knew what to say, “Curry with no carrots and extra ginger!”
The smirk on Niragi’s face said it all. He was one of the people behind one of your favorite games, and the two of you had even had several conversations over twitter. You could almost kick yourself for not realizing sooner.
“The correct answer is curry with no carrots and extra ginger. Two points. Partner two?”
“Spicy gyudon.”
“The correct answer is spicy gyudon. Two points.”
It continued like that, the two of you answering questions correctly, until finally, the last question arrived.
“Question fifteen- What was the last lie your fiancee told? Partner one?”
You genuinely had no idea what the answer could be. It was such a subjective question! Did they really have a way to know if what they’d put on the form was truly the last lie they’d told?
Knowing you were running out of time, you looked Niragi in the eyes, and answered, “‘I hate you.’”
“The correct answer is ‘I won’t kill you if you beg.’ Zero points. Partner two?”
“‘I hate you too.’”
“The correct answer is ‘I’m alright.’ Zero points. With that, the vows have concluded. Please wait a moment while the other couple finishes their vows,” Silence washed over the wedding hall as they waited, unable to move for fear of this shotgun wedding living up to it’s name. Finally, after what felt like forever, the Robo Priest moved again, “With forty eight points, you are the more compatible couple.”
The sound of two gunshots came from the room next door, startling you. Guess it lived up to it’s name after all.
“By the power vested in me, I now pronounce you married. Please kiss.”
“Excuse me?”
“They might still kill us if we don’t comply,” Niragi whispered to you, leaning in a bit, “You wouldn’t want that, would you?”
You definitely didn’t want that, so, taking a breath, you leaned in and kissed him. His lips were surprisingly soft, the feeling of his teeth gently tugging on your bottom lip making you shiver. Thankfully, before you could lose yourself in this exhilarating, intoxicating kiss, the handcuffs binding you unlocked and fell off, producing a dull clunk that brought you to your senses. Pulling away, you blushed and looked away.
“Game clear. Congratulations!” Your phones chimed, “To the winners of the game, we will now supply you with a visa.”
“Visa?” Confused, you looked back at Niragi, only to see him already walking back down the aisle, “Hey!”
“Yes?” He turned, amused as you raced after him.
“You’re supposed to wait for your bride before walking back down the aisle!”
“Oh, so you’re my bride now?”
Realizing what you’d said, you blushed, “N-No! But we are still in a wedding hall, and may or may not be legally married in the eyes of whatever law this bizarro world has, so the least you can do is follow through on the fantasy after making me kiss you!”
“Well, when you put it like that,” He offered you his arm, allowing you to slip yours through it before walking again, “This better, wifey~?”
“Much,” Exiting the wedding hall, you saw a large cake decorated with hearts and sugar flowers, and a bottle of wine in the bucket next to it, “Guess that’s the wedding cake and champagne we were promised as a prize.”
“So we indulge in that and then… honeymoon time?”
“As if,” You scoffed, “I need to figure out where to go now. This place clearly isn’t safe, and I’ll need a change of clothes so I’m not running around playing any more death games in a damn wedding dress. That’s not even accounting for food and-”
Leaning against the nearby wall, Niragi laughed.
“What? I say something funny?”
“If you’re worried about all that, you should just come with me. I can give you that and so much more~”
“…Niragi, two of your friends just died and you haven’t bat an eye.”
He shrugged, “Not my friends.”
“Still, how the hell could I trust you?”
Moving closer, he placed his arm on the wall above your head, smirking as he leaned in, “What’s your alternative? Either you come with me and I’ll make sure you’re protected and cared for, or you go out there and fend for yourself. So… which would you prefer, kitten?”
He made a fair point, and the longer you thought about it, the less unsure you felt about him.
“For better or worse,” You gripped the front of his shirt, staring him straight in the eyes.
“Till death do us part,” He replied, closing the small distance between you, and kissing you once more.

First Love
Tumblr media
Pairing: Karube Daikichi x reader
Genre: Angst
Summary: The only person that knows about your crush on Karube is your brother. You never wanted him to know about your feelings but when both of your lives slowly come to an end, you just want to leave the world with no regret and end your first love on a proper note.
Hello!! (^o^) yay! So I finally got time to write something hahaha! I'm left with one assignment to submit but I'm almost done already and there's still multiple days before the actual deadline! ✧(≖ ◡ ≖✿ I tried to make this 7 of hearts story as different as the other one as possible so hope someone likes it!
What is it that attract you to him? Is it the way he smile? Or is it the way that he never hesitates to step up for someone weaker than him? Or the way that he makes you feel safe whenever he is around?
You have no idea exactly when you started falling for Karube. Your first encounter with him was not exactly the most pleasant one so how did your feelings changed so drastically?
When you first saw him, he was with your brother who was badly injured, so you did the most human thing and assumed that he was the one that hurt your brother so you were totally ready to give him a piece of your mind. You were ready to stand up for your brother even if the chances of you winning is close to zero. You had marched up to him, trying to look as intimidating as possible, and telling him to stay away from Arisu.
He did not really say anything to stop your scolding. It was only when Arisu stepped in to tell you that Karube was actually the one that saved him from the bullies, then you start to realise how embarrassing and rude you had been.
A deep blush formed on your cheeks because of the embarrassment and you quickly bowed at him to apologise for assuming things and thanking him for helping your brother. Back then, in your mind, you were thinking how badly your first impression to him must have been and he must be really mad at you.
But… he didn’t get mad, instead he laughed it off, saying that it was amusing for him to see you trying to stand up to him.
And from then on, you always hang out with your brother and his friends. You started to realise that he was actually a very kind-hearted person and you never failed to smile with him around.
Slowly but surely you had start to fall in love with him and your brother would definitely notice the signs, which you would always try to deny when he brings it up.
You didn’t want to admit but Arisu was sure about it! He had saw the longing look in your eyes whenever you look at Karube and how your eyes always seem to follow him and how your smile would always brighten when he is around. He had also caught you mindlessly scribbling Karube’s name in your notebook which you used a lame excuse to try and make him believe that it was nothing.
When you finally admitted your feelings for him was when Karube happily announced that he got a girlfriend. Arisu had looked worriedly at you immediately and see you faking a smile and congratulating Karube, which he happily thanked you. But Arisu could see the pain in your eyes which breaks his heart. He was able to mask his worries and congratulate Karube as well to prevent suspicion. However, once the both of you were alone, he had told you to stop pretending to be okay, so the facade you had put on immediately crumbled away and you spend the night crying into your brother’s shoulder.
Arisu had wanted to talk to Karube about it, but you made him promise not to tell anything to him so he tried to comfort you as much as he could.
You and Karube remained friends with you successfully hiding away those unrequited feelings. You thought that as long as he is happy, it will be sufficient for you.
That was until…
You were brought into borderland with him and your brother. The death games were truly horrifying. You had made it through the second game with them but your hope of going back to the real world vanished when you enter the third game, 7 of hearts and only allowing one person to survive.
As Karube and Shibuki were fighting, Arisu had ran after them as he tried to think of a solution to save everyone.
You knew that there was no way for all of you to leave this game together so you decided to just stay hidden from your brother as you knew how he would definitely sacrifice himself for you.
You were glad that at the very least your brother would be safe but you just wished to see Karube again one last time before you die. Your biggest regret in this life would probably be not confessing to him.
You looked at the flowers in the garden blankly as memories with Karube flashed in front of your eyes.
Oh just how much you love his smile… how much you wished you had the chance to see him one last time and let him know how much you love him…
And it was like your thoughts were heard, when you saw him, holding his injured wound and moving towards one of the bushes.
At that moment, you couldn’t control your feelings anymore as tears rolled down your cheeks and you ran towards him.
His back was facing you as you wrapped your arms around his waist, trying your best to avoid his injury.
Karube was definitely not expecting to feel someone’s arms around him so he tried to pry your hands off him, thinking that you were an attacker.
He only stopped struggling when he heard your trembling voice. "I'm sorry Karube... I'm sorry!"
"(Y/N)? Why are you apologising?" Karube was confused to hear your apologising to him.
"I... I'm... sorry for falling for you and I'm sorry for dropping this bomb on you at this moment but... I didn't want to regret anything!" You told him as your hold on him tighten.
You could feel the way his body tenses when he hear your confession. There was a few moment of silent and you had closed your eyes, thinking that he probably was going to get away from you. But instead you felt him gently removing your arms around him and turning to face you.
You looked up at him as you felt his intense gaze on you. You had recognised the look in his eyes immediately, it was mixed with guilt and surprised.
"(Y/N)... I'm sorry... I didn't notice...I..." Karube answered in a low voice as he looked away from you.
You cut him off before he could properly reject you, "I have always thought that it was sufficient for me staying by your side but I was wrong... as all the memories with you flashed across my eyes, I realise how much I want you to know about my feelings so I can leave this world without any regrets."
Karube did not know what to say, other than apologising for not noticing about your feelings.
"You don't have to apologise! You can't control my feelings! But… there is something that you could do for me… Do you mind helping me? " You asked as you searched his eyes for approval.
He nodded slowly, even though he didn't know what help you needed.
You smiled softly at him before you stood on your tippy toes and pressed your lips against his.
Karube's eyes widened when he felt you kiss him, and he stood frozen on the spot until you gradually pulled away from him.
"Thank you!" You told him softly and you could tell from the look on his face, he wanted to ask what that was for, so you continued. "What is a first love without a kiss? Thank you for fulfilling my wish by helping me end my first love on a proper note!"
You then smiled happily while you wrapped your arms around him again, laying your head on his chest and listening to the sound of his heartbeat.
"I'm sorry... just let me be selfish and let me have you all to myself in these last few moments!" you felt contented at this moment as you closed your eyes, enjoying the last few moments in his arms.
Unbeknownst to you, Karube's eyes softened as he looked down at you, seeing you leaning on his chest.
'Let's meet again in our next life and let me fall for you like you did with me in this life! ' he thought in his mind and proceeded to return the hug.
—————-
The two of you could still hear Arisu calling out for all of you but it was like a silent agreement between the two of you that Arisu is the one that should survive for this game.
"I love you onii-chan! Thank you! Let's be siblings again when we resurrect! And let me be the older one next time so I can take care of you like you did!" you were truly thankful to have Arisu as your brother and you would never ask for anyone else.
You could hear Arisu screaming your name and telling you not to leave him, "I promised okaa-san, I will protect you!"
"She will understand! And I will finally be there to accompany her!"
"NOO! (Y/N)! Don't leave me!" Arisu screamed but by the time he spotted you and Karube, there was only a few seconds left. He ran as fast as he could towards you both but he knew it was all too late, when he see both you and Karube's body fell to the ground...
Poor Arisu baby! I'm so sorry! 🥺 Hope you all like this story, tho I'm a little unsatisfied with the end product! 😅
ohh and I had this interesting thought, like how Niragi needed a Karube in his life to stand up for him when he was bullied before borderland! I think his life will be much better!

The Borderlands was not a place to fall in love. When your loved one could die at literally any moment, there was no safe place for love. You should've known that. But it wasn't like you fell in love with him because you two were stuck in a deadly game-playing country. You weren't that stupid. But still stupid enough to fall for his tricks.
You were nothing more than a pawn to him. Someone to go to when he needed to remember what it's like to be normal, to be human, above all things. But the thing is, no matter what,
Chishiya Shuntaro would never change. Especially not for you.
The feeling was bizarre to Shuntaro. The feeling of love and affection. He never got it from his father who was always staring at the computer screen, and he'd never been in a genuine relationship before you. Maybe that's why he ended things. Because it was too weird for him. To feel loved after believing he wasn't worthy of it after so long. No. Because he refused to believe he was just like everyone else. Someone desperate for love and some sort of acknowledgment of his hard work.
Yet, it still didn't work.
When it was announced that there would be a second stage in the Borderlands, you were grateful that things would soon return to normal. But Shuntaro thought of other things.
To him, the real world was useless, filled with useless people and useless jobs, even you were useless after he collected the cards from The Beach. But this world? He was practically a God. Being smarter than everyone else only boosted his already high ego, but to make it to the second stage only made him worse.
He didn't even properly say goodbye to you. You ended up finding Kuina instead of him who was just as angry at him as you were for abandoning the two of you.
This resulted in you migrating into Arisu’s group. Luckily, you had known Kuina for some time thanks to these games so she put in a good word for you, even if you accidentally helped Shuntaro gather the cards and throw Arisu under the bus.
But Arisu let you in the group anyways, even if you were involved with his almost suffocating death. Because he was that kind of person. One who forgave even if the circumstances didn't need it. That was the main difference between him and Shuntaro.
Shuntaro never apologized for anything, believing he was always right and you were always wrong, even if he knew damn well he was wrong, he would never say sorry or admit his defeat. Whereas Ryohei would say sorry for just about everything and always think he was in the wrong even if he was right.
It was odd, to see two people that were polar opposites. You had been with Shuntaro for so long that you forgot what it was like to not be tricked, manipulated, or gaslighted into things. Arisu Ryohei was a breath of fresh air. Even if he came with traumas he could hardly speak about, or was awkward to the point where he would just stare at you without saying anything, it was better than anything Shuntaro did.
But never once did Shuntaro believe you would end up with Ryohei.
Shuntaro was so sure that Ryohei was too much of an idiot for you, too sweet, too caring. But in reality, he knew it was a possibility of it occurring. Even though at first Ryohei was almost obsessed with Usagi, he ended up choosing you instead. Shuntaro just never thought you could get over him.
Well, more like he couldn't get over you.
How was it so easy for you to have someone to fall back on? To have friends who support you and care for you? To jump from one relationship into another? He couldn't wrap his head around it. And it was bothersome.
It took something of great misfortune to cause Shuntaro to be confused about something, to not understand when he was so incredibly intelligent. He couldn't explain it.
Shuntaro was alone most of the second stage. Attempting to clear all the face cards with diamonds by himself was…lonely. Which was another weird thing.
Shuntaro was used to being alone, the feeling of loneliness was normal to him. So why all of a sudden did it start feeling weird the moment you left? There were hundreds of possibilities running in his mind. Either he was finally starting to go crazy in this world,
or he really did love you, and let go too soon.
After the king of diamonds game, Shuntaro felt like his whole world was turned upside down. All because of one game? Yes. While the male swore a stupid game would never change his views, it did just that.
He was able to finally catch a grasp on humanity. On how to act with certain people. How to value a life and not throw it away like a piece of trash.
He immediately sought out you.
But when he finally saw you again your arms were wrapped around someone else.
It felt like a punch in the gut with a different pain than the other times. Sure, he knew the pain of having someone angry at you, a partner even, but this was new, and it struck something inside of him.
He was jealous.
Jealous that you chose Ryohei. Jealous that you and Kuina became closer than ever. Jealous that you found happiness and he was now alone again.
But he couldn't do anything, now. He took a risk abandoning you. And now he was regretting it entirely.
Shuntaro hardly regretted things, but this was the one thing he felt the most regret and guilt about. Especially when he knows he’ll never have the chance of getting you back.
Shuntaro left without being noticed that day. After seeing you so happy with Ryohei, he knew he didn't have a chance. He knows he should be happy for you, to escape his manipulation and petty torment and be genuinely happy with someone who loved you and wasn't faking it.
The only issue was that Shuntaro wasn't faking it. He just didn't know how to show it. But that's what cost him in the end. And he felt so fucking stupid for it happening. To him, you were more than just a pawn, a temporary investment whenever he needed you, he did enjoy every second and millisecond he spent with you, even if he looked the opposite to you. He just wished he could have a do-over, a restart, anything. But he knew that wasn’t even a relative possibility, not in the world they were in, and especially not when you found someone else. He shouldn’t be surprised, yet he still was for some reason. Maybe he was too caught up in his own plans that he wasn’t able to notice you drifting away from him slowly but surely. That you would leave his presence every now and then and never return, but he would never realize you had even been gone. That’s how he used to be, at least. But he changed too late.
Now, Shuntaro was alone again, with no one to rely on, no allies, not even an enemy to fight at the moment. He was sure that he was going to die alone, but not without you. He could hardly believe how affected he was by this, but he understood completely. He was an asshole, a manipulator, and worse, so why should he be hurt that you got fed up and left? Even if he did abandon you, he didn’t think you’d just find another person to be with. It made him think you never loved him in the first place. He knew you did, at least in the beginning, but it faded away over time while his grew larger daily. The more Shuntaro was with you, the more human he became. He learned how it felt to be genuinely loved by someone, even if you did leave in the end. Sure, he technically left first, but you could’ve stayed. Though, he wasn’t very surprised you didn’t.
By this time, Shuntaro was tired of the games, of the Borderlands, of everything. He finally figured out his purpose in life, to be as empty as a human being could possibly be. No remorse, no emotions, no love. He understood it all now. He was similar to Niragi in a way, which made him want to gag at the thought of them being on the same level of no humanity. He wandered alone in the city for a while, looking at things he hadn’t noticed before, too busy being caught up in the games or The Beach that he hadn’t come to realize how vegetated everything had become. It weirded him out if he had to be honest. It made him feel like it was some sort of apocalypse, even though it kind of was, it felt like the days were just losing their meaning. He didn’t know what day it was for a while, anyways.
He made a choice to not participate in any more of these games, not when the diamonds were all cleared and he had no point in continuing if they weren’t of that suit. He figured he’d let everyone else do the work for him. It wasn’t like he had any faith in winning or losing anymore anyways. If they win, hurray, he can go back to the boring useless real world. If they lose, he gets to die knowing what kind of terrible person he was. It was a loss no matter the situation.
Shuntaro had somehow found his way back to where you and him were staying before finding The Beach and getting taken in by Hatter, and it made him start remembering how it was the first few days of arriving in the Borderlands. Both of you were filled with confusion as to what happened and where you were, but it ended up making you two closer than ever. Then when The Beach was found, everything changed. Shuntaro changed when he realized there was a way of getting out of here, and that all they had to do was clear one of every game and soon enough they would be able to leave, but you never found out the reason why.
The reason he got so caught up in collecting the cards and escaping this place, was because he wanted to get you out of it. Even if it meant lying to you about the reason and causing the almost death of Ryohei. He just wanted to make sure you would get out of here, especially if it ended up ruining things in the end. At least he knew you were safe with Ryohei, having Kuina, Usagi, and even An made him feel a tiny bit better about the situation. But he was still deeply burdened with the regret he was feeling. He just had to keep telling himself “it’s for the better” and soon it would go away. That’s what he assumed at least.
Sadly, it didn’t work. Shuntaro was sitting in the room of the building you and him had made your living space and just stared at the wall. He couldn’t do anything now. He was at a loss. He didn’t know what to do. That was a first, for him at least. He never could just sit down and do nothing, but that’s all he wanted to do right now. He reached into his pants pocket and pulled out a photo he always kept on him without you knowing. A picture of you two, one where he was smiling for once. He never smiled, normally, but when he was with you, there would be occasions when he would, and it would make you so incredibly happy to see the emotionless man smile for once. He always believed he looked stupid when he was smiling, but you always reassured him that was a lie, and that you thought his smile was the prettiest. At the moment he called you an idiot for saying that, but he felt a tug at his heart at the words.
Suddenly, a sob came out of Shuntaro’s mouth, and his body started shaking uncontrollably. Was he crying? He didn’t even know he was capable of such a thing. But he was now. All of the emotions that he had bottled up were finally showing and overflowing, leaving the blonde in shambles as he tried to calm himself down. He was weak. He thought he was weak. For crying over something that was bound to happen at some point in his life, he just never thought now would be the time. For being such an asshole to you and not realizing feelings were slowly being lost. For not being better. He knows he could’ve tried harder, done more, and put more effort into things, but he didn’t. These were the consequences of his actions, and now he was breaking down over the realization.
The tears wouldn’t stop flowing down his face as he cried, no matter how much he tried to stop them from falling, only more came whenever he wiped them away. He kept muttering out apologies, even though you weren’t even there to hear him, he wished you were. All he wanted was you, nothing else. But he fucked it up. He fucked it up so bad you got with Ryohei to get over him. Shuntaro just wanted it all to go away. The memories of you two together, the arguments, the tricking, the grief, all of it. He wished he could just be knocked out and wake up with no memory of you whatsoever, but that wasn’t going to happen any time soon, sadly. He held the picture tightly in his hands before letting it fall to the ground, wet droplets of his tears landing on the paper while he continued to shake.
When he eventually calmed down, he laid on the ground and tried to sleep. Picture in his hands, he rolled over onto his side and closed his eyes. If he tried hard enough, a vision of you entered his mind and though he knew it wasn’t you actually there, it gave him the slightest bit of comfort. Even if you weren’t thinking of him, he was still thinking about you. He would never stop, honestly, thinking about you. You were the first and only person who treated him normal, even if you were deemed lower than him, dumber than him, he loved you. Even if he never said it aloud to you, he always thought it. Saying the words “I love you” was almost impossible for Shuntaro. But now he just wishes he said it at least once to you, so you would know that he did love you. He never stopped loving you, but you thought he did, if he loved you in the first place. You always believed he never loved you, just put up with you because he enjoyed having you around to toy with, use for his own will, and more, but you were wrong. He did love you, he always did, he just never knew how to act about it. He tried to express it, but it felt weird to him so he showed it in his own ways. But that wasn’t enough.
Though Shuntaro did abandon you first, he couldn’t help but feel subtly annoyed at everything. But more importantly, he was feeling guilty. Of everything. From when he first met you to seeing you with Ryohei, he felt guilty for all of it. He didn’t want to think of it anymore, but he couldn’t stop himself.
Taking a deep breath, Shuntaro calmed his breathing and was able to finally feel one moment of peace after so much pain. This time, he didn’t see you in his mind. He was going to forget about you, and move on with someone new eventually. But it would take much longer than you did. Because he did love you, even if he couldn’t show it.

A/N: Yeppp, this request won my poll thing by like 74% 😂 and thank you so much! Here's more Chishiya food for you 🥰️
♡ Chishiya Being Jealous Over You Includes... ♡
Tumblr media
♡• It's not like he doesn't expect other people you happen to meet around the Borderlands to not take any notice of you when you happen to be in games or something together. Chishiya is well aware that you're a very pretty person, not just by your looks. The two of you are practically unstoppable when you're working together in a complicated game, and that kind of success that you give each other does attract attention. Not just the suspicious and desperately frustrated attention of "How the hell are they doing this? Are they gamemasters or something?!" which Chishiya finds mildly amusing. It's when eyes linger on you, on your face, your body, for a moment too long, that his deep brown gaze will tint with an almost unnoticeable hint of venom.
♡• Chishiya Shuntaro doesn't like those starers. Not when it's you they're ogling.
♡• I'm not saying that he'll immediately get huffy and insecure Arisu 😏 or defensive and aggressive Niragi 😵 but he doesn't like it. He knows when it's happening, of course, since he's a very observant man, and so when he notices it, with just one emotionless stare at them, Chishiya will get the gist of what's going on in their head pretty quickly.
♡• They're not a threat to him. He's not scared of anyone, and won't back down from them. And it's not like he doesn't trust you, because he absolutely does, and knows that there's no way you'd fall for their words and shameless eyes as soon as they approach you. Still, it doesn't mean he won't make sure they're put in their place.
♡• It's like - you know how Arisu got caught when he found the fake safe, and Chshiya was just flipping around the walkie-talkie with his usual smug, unbothered smirk? It's kind of similar to that. He'll screw them over purposefully, maybe even put a bit of effort into it, because he can. Because he's smarter than them. And because you're his.
♡• Chishiya knows you can handle yourself, and turn them down as soon as they try coming on to you, but if they still persist and you're clearly uncomfortable, yeah, he'll step right in. One step in front of you, calmly and indifferently, he'll give them a scarily blank look and say something laced with a tinge of poison, like, "You should keep moving. Someone will get hurt." It's not in a way that he's saying he'll beat them to death on the spot 😂 but it's a warning that the next game they're in, he won't be helping them. Not one bit. He won't directly kill them, but if anything bad happens, it happens.
♡• Or maybe he'll pick up something about them just by watching them go about their way in the Borderlands, overhear a few conversations, and he's got them. Chishiya has his ways, and by the time he's finished saying what he's had to say, you notice that they're suddenly looking anywhere but in your direction, and Chishiya's satisfied half-smile that only grows when you clock what's going on and give him a glare.
♡• It also makes him rethink, yet again, of how ridiculously lucky he is to have you. After someone tries and ultimately fails to get your attention in a certain way, you'll randomly find Chishiya staring at you for longer than he usually does, or being a little more sentimental. It's just his way of showing you that he appreciates you, that he's truly in love, and never to doubt it. In moments when he's softer and more vulnerable, like late at night or alone on a rooftop, you'll hear it from him, and him saying those words with that intense gaze is aaaghh- 😍
♡• Basically, Chishiya doesn't get jealous in the usual way, not defensive and impulsive, or insecure and stuttery. He's just himself, and at the end of the day, you're one of the very few things that means a lot to him. The only incentive he had to win games before was for the sheer fun of it, really, not because he was desperate to survive, but literally because he could. But now that you've come along, there's one reason he's never had before, and no idiot trying to push their way into your relationship will ruin that reason. Love. 💙

ˏˋ°•*⁀➷ niragi + fireworks [post-borderland] yes i'm late
Tumblr media
The night is getting loud. As the world approaches the end of yet another year, people on the streets are getting wilder and louder, and even if there's still plenty of time until midnight, some of them are already shooting off fireworks. The pretty lights sparkle in the night sky, lighting up the night.
Niragi's never been one to appreciate things just because they’re beautiful. Yet for some reason, each New Year’s Eve he stands on the balcony of your apartment and watches the sky erupt in colors. He seems to be looking past them, though, lost in thought.
He’s never told you about the scars on his body, how exactly he got so badly burned, and you don’t push. You have your theories, of course. After years of knowing him, at times almost analyzing his behavior, you’re pretty sure you know - and you suppose he’s aware of it too.
You were fortunate enough to avoid the whole catastrophe that happened in Tokyo, but you were fascinated and read about every article and interview with the victims out there. Most of them, if not all, mentioned seeing fireworks. In hindsight, of course, it is apparent that that’s not what the lights were, but it explains a lot. It explains the lost, almost longing, look on your boyfriend’s face as he stares at the night sky.
You open the doors to the balcony and shiver in the chilly night air. You’re sure he’s heard you come out, but you still move cautiously to avoid startling him as you wrap your arms around his waist and rest your head on his left shoulder. After all this time, he still prefers you don’t look at the burned half of his face. He makes an annoyed noise when you resist his attempts to pull you to his side instead.
“Just a moment, I promise,” you whisper. You can feel him rolling his eyes. His body tenses and relaxes under your touch, as if it can’t decide whether to enjoy it or shrug you off. You hope one day he’ll learn to accept it. It’s not your fault his back is so comfortable and it feels so good to hold him.
Eventually though you relent and let him guide you to stand in front of him. He seems much more comfortable having you trapped between his body and the railing. You can’t really see him now, which you suppose is another bonus for him.
“If I didn’t know any better, I’d think you like the fireworks so much and say it’s cute,” you hum as you carefully cover one of his hands with yours. He scoffs, stepping closer until your back is pressed against his chest and the railing digs into your stomach.
“Good thing you’re smart,” he bites back.
Another firework blows up in the sky, huge and majestic. It colors the world in hues of red for a few seconds, as if it was splattered in blood. You want to see Niragi, but he’s made it clear he doesn’t want to be seen. You’re grateful he’s accepted your presence at least.
“Are you thinking about it?” whatever it is, you ask quietly, softly rubbing your thumb across the back of his hand. He stays quiet for a few seconds.
“Doesn’t matter,” he responds reluctantly, and you don’t push. There’s tension in his voice and body that wasn’t there before and you feel vaguely sorry that you’ve asked. It’s not like you need to know every little thing about him, but you can’t help being curious - especially since this is kind of a big deal.
“Alright, but I’m here if you ever need to talk. I can just sit and listen,” you reassure him, again. Sometimes you’re tempted to try and count all the things you’re dying to hear about.
“You don’t need to hear about my fuck ups,” he sneers. In response you hum and tilt your head back to rest on his shoulder. He allows it.
“I don’t but I want to. I’m already yours, Niragi. I’m not going anywhere no matter what you tell me,” you try to look at him, but he gently takes your jaw between his fingers and tilts your head back down to look straight in front of you.
“Just watch the fireworks,” he doesn’t sound upset, which is rare and surprising and works well in making you listen to him.
He doesn’t speak afterwards, but one of his arms snakes around your waist and pulls you closer to him. He holds you tightly, possessively, and you wonder whether maybe you should’ve worded your response differently.
That’s one more question to ponder in the new year.

ALICE IN BORDERLAND: NIGHTMARES (all the nightmares are in italic)- They all have a nightmare about you.
Arisu:
Everything was fine; you and Karube were running in front of him, trying to find a place to hide. He saw you flinch with every gunshot blaring through the building.
He wanted to be the one to help you survive, but his tall friend had quickly grabbed you and run off, leaving him behind to follow the two of you.
Hearing a noise behind him, he turned his head to see a horsed gunman behind him; you had all been found. Arisu yelled at you and Karube to run before stumbling and falling to the ground just as the sound of gunshots began again.
Arisu screamed, watching as your body was littered with bullet holes, he had been spared by falling, but you weren't so lucky. Karube let go of you to pick up Arisu dragging him away as he cried, reaching out for you.
Waking up drenched in sweat, he sobbed even after seeing you snoring softly next to him. Losing Karube and Chota was hard enough, but there was a very real chance that he could lose you, too, at some point. That was like a living nightmare for him. ♥
Karube:
Crossing the laser border, he turns when he realizes you haven't followed him. Your visa was up, but Karube wasn't about to let you die and found a game close to where you'd been staying.
"what are you doing?" He questioned, taking a step towards you before remembering the lasers and stopping. You still hadn't taken a step closer to the game entrance.
You just cried, shaking your head and apologizing to him, "I can't do this anymore. I give up! I'm sorry, Karube." tears fall down your cheeks as you sob.
His heart drops when he understands what you're doing and there is nothing he can do about it. "No, please, I'm here. We can do this together" he could hear the voice behind him explaining that the game was about to start. "Please don't leave me."
A rumble comes from the sky as a static sound begins, one that he knows all too well. It was too late now. A red beam shot from the sky and down into your head as you dropped to the ground dead "Please, no!".
Yelling, he shot up and turned to hold you, only to see that you weren't there. He began to worry, thinking it wasn't a nightmare, when you walked into the room confused, holding a bottle of water.
Grabbing you when you climbed into bed, he breathed deeply. You were still here with him. You hadn't given up; you were still fighting for your lives together. ♦
Usagi:
She giggled, racing you to the top of the mountain. It had been a long time since she went mountain climbing. Ever since her father's death, she left the hobby behind, but you helped her get back into it.
Just as she made it to the top, she turned to mock you for being so slow when she saw you reach up to grasp onto a rocky ledge, only for it to crumble.
She screamed as you started to fall and helplessly watched as you began to plummet from the mountain, almost in slow motion. Your own shriek slowly fades out as you get further out of view before it gets deathly silent. Usagi clutches the wall tightly, sobbing, knowing you are gone.
Opening her eyes quickly, she feels her hands scrunched into balls, almost as if she were still holding onto the wall. You wordlessly wrap your hands around hers as you pull her back into your front, covering her like a blanket. "I love you," Usagi whispers as you feel a tear drop onto the top of your hand. ♣
Chishiya:
This was a situation he never thought he would be in, which was why he tried to avoid getting close to anyone in the borderland. You, however, had somehow wormed your way into his life, and now he was paying the price.
He watched you pick up the last card he needed for the deck and slyly took out more cards from your pocket. Chishiya frowned and checked his own, watching you with wide eyes when he realized his pocket was empty.
Seeing you smirking at his expression, he froze. "I'm sorry, Chishiya, but I had to do it before you betrayed me because that's what you're good at, right?".
You weren't wrong; he lied and cheated people all the time, but it felt different having you do it to him. He nodded silently as you giggled, "well, I'm better."
He could do nothing as the person he'd fallen for changed into someone he didn't recognize. What's worse is you were the only one he'd never backstab. "Goodbye, Chishiya," you whispered, holding the cards and leaving him alone in front of the burning building.
His eyes opened slowly as he thought about the dream and its meaning. Turning to his side, he watched you sleep. He knew the real you would never do that to him, so what was he subconsciously trying to tell himself? ♠
Kuina:
It was the look of disgust on your face that had her heart shattering. She thought you were far enough into your relationship to tell you her secret; she'd gotten advice from Chishiya, who even agreed to her decision to tell you.
You said you loved her, so why had that changed when she told you who she was born as? She's Kuina now, the person you said you had fallen for. Dropping her hand and pushing her away, you told her she was disgusting before walking away as she cried. "…Please don't".
Feeling you pull yourself closer to her, she realizes that she was crying in her sleep. Seeing you try to console her even in her sleep made her see how stupid her nightmare was.
You already knew all of her secrets long ago, and you had reacted with nothing but kindness and love. You loved her no matter her gender, beliefs, or differences. ♥
Niragi:
He let out a manic yell as the bullets sprayed from his gun into the crowd of people as they screamed. Everyone was diving left and right, trying to escape from him, but he wasn't letting them; body after body dropped to the ground dead.
Hearing a noise behind him, he turned with a wide grin before seeing your horrified face "Niragi? Chishiya was right. You really are a bad guy" He watched you run into the arms of a certain blond who held you in his arms safely. Niragi didn't think as he raised his gun -bang-
Niragi gasped as he sat up in bed; another loud bang of lightning made him jump. The space next to him was filled with a quietly sleeping you, exactly where he had left you when he drifted off to sleep earlier.
He brushed the hair that had fallen on your face in your sleep as he watched you for a moment while getting his breathing back to normal. You were the only thing Niragi had nightmares about, and you were the only person he cared about to actually have nightmares for. ♦
Ann:
She'd finished up with one of the bodies she had been examining and placed a sheet over it before walking over to another emotionless. There wasn't any feeling involved; she couldn't let herself feel sad for every dead body she got in here.
Cutting into the cold dead skin, she stopped seeing a familiar tattoo on the back of their shoulder. Sure it was a generic one, but it still filled her with dread knowing who it could belong to.
Her stomach dropped as she turned the body over slowly and wailed when she saw your blank face staring back up at her white eyes open into nothingness. "No!"
Jumping up, she accidentally bumped into you, causing you to groan in your sleep. She quickly realized her mistake and lay back with you, throwing an arm over your waist and holding you tighter than before as she stared at that small tattoo on your bare shoulder. ♣
Mira:
She watched through the screen as the words 'Game Over' lit up over your picture in shock before a laser came down from the sky, burning through your head.
Mira watched in heartbreak as your knees buckled under the pressure of your dead weight. You lost a game of hearts. One of her games. It wasn't supposed to be like this.
You'd gone in for her. She asked you to watch over her game, so she had more time to prepare others. Now you were gone, and there was nothing she could do about it.
With a gasp, she opened her eyes as she turned in bed, feeling you next to her, but her heart still hurt from the pain of the nightmare. It almost made her feel bad about the designs of her games. Almost. ♠
