something something still writing my curse of strahd fic. having to find ways to make it more difficult since theyre coming in from being level 13 post game

#starting off with them all separated is a great start methinks #also might have it where being in strahds domain is temporarily inhibiting them a couple levels (that they get back if they defeat him)#like he subconsciously inhibits anyone to be more powerful than him past a certain level to keep them from usurping him #also for context i have a headcanon post game that they miss the telepathic connections the tadpole gave them post game #and they want a way to keep in contact if theyre far from each other or even on different planes #so they work to get a very powerful set of rings for all the origin characters that have rarys telepathic bond on them #that allow them to communicate telepathically no matter the distance or plane with anyone else wearing the ring #a little bit like the ward rings you can find in act 2 that let you ward with the other wearer no matter the distance #and so if theyre ever adventuring together and are separated they also use it to their advantage to communicate via telepathy on how to meet #depending on who's using the ring to communicate too they have a unique presence/feeling to whoever theyre reaching out to #for gale its electric because i can imagine the weave imbued in him and having a sort of sparky magical feel #for astarion every function seems to slow and they get a bit more chill because of him being undead #etc etc sort of thing #and its grate because the cos book literally specifies about spells that allow message or communication and strahd being able to listen in #so im going to use that as a really good point of fear after a certain scene i have planned #that way to deter them from using the rings so they can get nerfed again #im seriously really excited for this #i have so many post game astarion/soleil adventuring fics planned based off official campaigns and even some of my own #and im so excited for all of them #i promise the strahd fic is not the only one already in the works its just that this is the one im more actively writing currently and have #the most written for at the moment

in honor of the one-year anniversary of episode 141's airing (yesterday but its 3am so hush) it's DEEPLY missing the mighty nein hours

#im a MESS #and absolute MESS #im not gonna put it all here but i just did a lot of introspection on my... difficulty to move on? from campaign 2 and how that might be a #reason why i am/have been struggling so hard to get into exu and campaign 3 #i really want to give c3 another shot as ive only watched the first few episodes and i REALLY want to watch exu calamity #its just. hard. for grief suffering reasons (yes thats the right word for my stuff for additional personal reasons)#but i dont want to just have current critical role not be a part of my life anymore. i cant fucking stand it #i adored vox machina when i was watching it before c2 came out and i still do #and c2 and the mighty nein literally was a core pillar of my life. for Years. and theyre so important to me and idk what i wouldve done #without them in my life when they were here #and i miss them really bad and a part of me wants to go back to the time when c2 was still airing #but i can manage and catch up with the rest of the fandom and have fun again with all these new characters #i dont doubt that i'll love the bells hells when i just give them a chance and i think now's that time #i want thursdays to be exciting again. i want to liveblog with mutuals again and nonstop share amazing fanart and meta and fanfic #fuck im crying again aaagh #ill always carry the mighty nein and their story in my heart because they were and are so so important to me literally changed my life #maybe i should make a true appreciation post soon but not rn #idk i guess i needed to put these thoughts somewhere #thanks cr for being amazing and beloved #thanks mighty nein

Mostly I do a ton of drawing and creative writing in my free time (with a good dose of tumblr scrolling lol)! When I have the time, I have some other crafty things I dabble in -- paper things, painting, resin crafts, etc. I wouldn't call myself a gamer because I play like 3 video games total, but when I'm in a groove I'll get really into those, haha! I do like to read, although I've felt crunched on time lately. I'm hoping to get some better habits now that school's out, actually. Oh, and I'm not sure if I can call it a hobby since it takes minimal day-to-day work, but I have a succulent garden that's grown pretty expansive that I'm real proud of :D

20. Favorite book

(So I could go way back and say how much the PJO series meant to me overall, or even be a total nerd and talk about Shakespeare or Virginia Woolf, but I'll settle for a recent favorite I read within the year:) The Fifth Season by N. K. Jemisin! It was a beautiful and haunting sci-fi fantasy story. It had a wicked cool thing about identity, and the worldbuilding was so interesting.

aita for not inviting a friend of mine into my dnd campaign?

so i (18nb) have a friend (18nb, Martin) who i play in a main dnd campaign with with all our other friends (Ill name them Dan, Virgil, Mark, and Ray). Dan is our DM after we kicked out the old one bc she was horrible. We're a pretty close group of friends, but lately we've all been really busy with respective school & work, ect. so we didnt play dnd for a solid, like,, 4 months. I DMed a one shot for everyone besides Ray cause she was flaky anyway, and added in my boyfriend Zeke for it.

Everyone had a really fun time w it and I loved everyones characters, especially Dan's. I watch a lot of dnd shows, so i just keep getting more ideas- but while the one shot was fun it was messy as hell. Ive been wanting to write a campaign for a smaller group for a while, (because when i tried making a campaign with the whole group the character creations were... disappointing to say the least. this sounds mean but i created a fairy world that was very magical & told everyone to go crazy on character creation in a world with few/no humans, and like 5/6 people opted to be a human with a fighting class :/ )

ive been writing a campaign that im really proud of and have a good vision for, and decided to include Mark (because we're best friends) Zeke (because he wants to play dnd more and has no opportunities) Dan (bc he never gets to be a player) and then another close friend of mine outside the group named Gabe (who i love but never get to see) I love their characters & we're all super excited.

Thing is. I was briefly talking with Dan, Zeke and Mark about it at school bc I'd sent everyone a little intro message for the world and they were all super excited and wanted to talk to me about their classes. Virgil had no problem with this and was excitedly asking abt the world + characters along with some other friends from school, but Martin got quiet and went and sat by himself. I could tell they were off, but Martin is generally a quiet person anyway and is often sad + doesnt want to talk for like a hundred different reasons, so i left her alone. Later that day in a different class I have with Virgil he showed me his phone where Martin had sent him a message saying she was really disappointed & felt left out that i hadnt invited them to my campaign.

i instantly felt bad and started to text him, but,,,, to be honest, i dont think im at all responsible for this.

i have reasons for leaving Martin out, the main one being that they just..... arent a very active player. Hes soft spoken and doesnt actually like rping their characters- her character in our main campaign is/was literally mute bc they said they didnt want to have to speak as him. (theyve since taken this back and went through with a curse breaking thing to be able to speak, but her character,,, still doesnt talk much.) he writes really good, sad backstories but doesnt actually play or do anything with them and gets uncomfortable acting. Their characters are not only emotional, but like. crazy. they play a bunch of cool tieflings with insane magic classes & features and then, again,,,, dont roleplay them. I didnt want the group to be big and had a good reason for including everyone that i did, and our other friends that arent in it (Virgil, Ray who is Martins sister btw, all our other d&d interested friends at school) literally dont mind at all. i just wrote a campaign that theyre not in. Martin also has their feelings hurt very easily, so to be honest i just find her being sad about not being in it just... stupid. id never say that to his face & i get that he feels bad, but like....cmon.

im aware im a very very incredibly low empathy person- to be honest i struggle with depression and bpd very heavily and am often mean to my friends & loved ones without really processing why or how much it affects them. i told Virgil that i thought Martins reaction was stupid, and he said that that wasnt fair bc Martin had always been in my campaigns before (which is, yknow, one. Martin and I were even in a campaign with a completely different group a while back and Martin willingly left it very early because the group was loud & their character wasnt doing anything (yeah)). Every time Martins expressed (or i guess not expressed) sorrow for not being invited to it ive just sort of ignored them. this again isnt that uncommon cuz when shes sad he doesnt like to talk about it, and also they havent directly confronted me with this at all.

ive been talking about the campaign a lot because it occupies frankly a lot of my brain because i have so much to write, and i especially talk to the people that arent in it bc theres no risk of slipping up and telling them something they arent supposed to know. The other friend, Gabe, is friends with Zeke and Mark and I, and Dan is good around new people,, but Martins really quiet around people he doesnt know well, so if i invited her anyway they'd probably play the game even less than they already do.

again, im really bad at having an actual perspecitve on this. Virgil said he feels bad for Martin but not for himself, as far as i know Dan doesnt know about the situation, and i literally just dont wanna involve Mark and Zeke (Zeke HATES conflict and when people fight so he really doesnt have to be involved.) Mark Martin and I have all been really close friends since literally 7th grade and I guess Martin especially feels left out that I involved Mark and not them but Marks both really good at character creation and also talking in character, and like, hes my best friend who i do everything with.

I dont wanna blow off Martins emotions but but i truly dont give a shit that they feel betrayed by my not inviting him. especially because they havent bothered actually telling me this. objectively i dont think its my fault even a little, and Martin is really horrible at handling their emotions anyway (this isnt an insult, just a fact. i am too). aita for not inviting him + not caring that shes upset by it and acting like they arent?

AND SHE'S A FISH WHO REJECTED THE GENDER SYSTEM SHE GREW UP IN FOR ONE NOT DESIGNED TO FURTHER WARFARE!

[before you scroll please note i am in desperate need of opinions so at the very least vote randomly if you do]

okay i don’t know how big the dimension 20 fandom is on here but i just gained access to a dropout tv account (thanks gully) and am trying to get through every dimension 20 show there is. i already watched season 1 of Fantasy High + Escape From The Bloodkeep and have just finished a Court of Fey and Flowers and have no idea if i should just start season 2 of fantasy high immediately or try out another different series because as much as i love it i have spent so much time with just fantasy high over the years.

like with all good decisions im making others choose for me, please vote on whichever one you think i should try next and if you don’t know what they are but have found this poll just pick whichever name you want. you make the rules i just play by them!! tyyy

Ok a mad coincidence to my last post, I’m about to play a fairy in my friend’s dnd campaign 💥 and since he has no lore for them he has given them to me to design and work with which is FREAKIN AWESOME!? And im having so much fun coming up with lore for them and the Faewild + working my character into that.

Literally the coolest guy and I’m so excited to have him as my dm yall plus everyone else playing I know so it’s so much less scary then the first time I tried to play with, basically, randos and it was just awkward and miserable for all of us

The environment sketch isn’t really important since I didn’t draw the fairy village in the trees like intended but ah well, plus the Faewild is basically just the regular world but everything fecks w u.

My fairies r basically just expanded from og 5e fairies but I wanted to make them more communal since I didn’t want my character to come from a flower and just be vibing mostly by themself AND I’m a sucker and I didn’t want them to just look like little winged humans yknow? Leaned into the little freaky magical creature bit

I’ve also kinda removed the “roll for a unique trait” thing where fairies have a sorta base looks like the examples above and other stuff can be rollable traits or even combined at one’s own will bc that’s more fun to me

Is this homebrewing? I guess it kinda is osjhkjlslkha but at least y’all r getting more dnd content and plenty more in the future

okay it's been like four days but i did the shitwater room (finally) - that room is literally the reason i started a separate ways campaign - because i wanted to play the game but i didnt want to play THAT part ugh i hate that room
