Remember when bob dylan wrote "let me hear you" and "let me see you" after george harrison asked him to write some words for a song, after years of george's songs not going into the beatles records? And when george wrote "the love you're blessed with, this world is waiting for" about bob when bob was scared of going back on doing concerts?

Shax plays on people’s insecurities, but Aziraphale is secure in Crowley.
THE EYEBROW is iconic but I feel it has blinded us to how big the whole moment is: Shax uses words as weapons, she taps into insecurities and needles you with them.
For example: telling Maggie she is the unlovable owner of a failing bookshop
She TRIES to use Aziraphale’s love for Crowley against him, TRIES to make him doubt Crowley could love him back
“You don’t seem his type at all”
And she is instantly shut down; that is not an avenue of attack that will work. Aziraphale is so secure in their relationship that’s not really a ❤️relationship❤️ she has to try another angle.
All while he is practically being embraced by a semi self aware and anthropomorphic extension of Crowley’s consciousness and presence, the Bentley.
It’s all so delicious. And of course his utter assurance that he is Crowley’s type is the opening scene of the 1941 episode, which basically shows us the height of their romance before it sorta got paused and stuck in place due to the dangers of Hell

Wolfstar and Markers.
~~~♤~~~
Sirius likes to draw on his friends.
It's just something he does when he's bored in class.
He writes Property of Sirius on each of them. Sometimes abreviating it to P.O.S. for the double meaning.
He draws little cupcakes and pieces of cheese on Peter's hand.
He loves to draw golden snitches and broomsitcks across James' thigh during the summer, charming them to fly around.
But, rather ironically, it was Remus who usually sat next to him.
It was an exceptionally boring day in history of magic class, they were all waiting for the lesson to end as Professor Binns droned on about the Great Goblin War.
Sirius pulled the marker out of his bag, grabbing Remus' arm without waiting for permission.
Despite pretending to be annoyed each time, Remus stayed carefully still.
A little too still.
He literally spent a good portion of the time Sirius was drawing on him not breathing.
It was secretly his favorite part of the day.
He loved the feeling of Sirius' fingers skating across his skin.
He loved watching his concentrated expression from the corner of his eyes.
He loved the way Sirius took his time, careful not to mess it up.
How Sirius always told him he wasn't allowed to wash it off.
He never did, keeping it until the end of the day.
He pretended to hate it but each time he felt himself falling a little deeper in love with his best friend.
Sirius moved on from drawing moons and stars to drawing hearts at some point during their fifth year.
It was literally all he would ever draw on Remus now.
He kept the same drawings on the others, quidditch themed for Prongs and various snacks for Wormy.
But always hearts on Remus.
Remus couldn't figure out why, but the tiny detail made his own heart flutter faster every time.
He wondered what caused the switch, wondered if it was as significant as he was making it out to be in his head.
One day, while Sirius was doodling on Remus' hand, James asked him,
"Why the hearts, mate?"
It was pure bored curiosity, there wasn't any real interest in his eyes when he said it.
But Sirius looked up, and his answer made Remus' entire brain malfunction.
"I'm waiting for Remus to ask me to be his boyfriend. This is about as obvious as I can get before I decide to ask him myself."
And then he just-
Went back to his doodling.
As if nothing even happened.
As if that wasn't the single most earthshattering thing Remus had ever heard in his life.
As if that wasn't something Remus had been dreaming of doing for years.
Remus could feel the shock on his face.
He could tell he wasn't doing a very good job of hiding any of the emotions swirling through him.
Did Sirius know then? This whole time had he secretly known how much Remus enjoyed their little moments together?
"Moons?" Sirius whispered.
Remus hadn't realised how long it had been since they stopped talking.
Sirius was staring at him, a small flicker of uncertainty passed over him, like he was realising there was a possibility he was wrong,
"You okay?" He asked.
"Can you hand me that marker?" Remus replied instead.
Sirius' eyes went wide for a fraction of a second before he nodded, passing it to Remus.
Remus reached out for Sirius' hand, Sirius gave it to him without hesitation.
He drew a single shaky heart, adrenaline pumping through him.
"Yes." He whispered, "I do want to be your boyfriend."
And that was it.
They've been together ever since.
Sirius loves to tell people the story of how they fell in love.
He always pays specific attention to the part where Remus sat shocked into stillness for fifteen minutes before Sirius finally asked if he was okay.
Remus proposed around Christmas, they were gathered at the Potter's home, watching baby Harry stumble around as he tried to walk.
Sirius and Remus were sitting on the sofa, Peter sat on the ground, holding his arms out for Harry, and Lily and James stood by the kitchen, watching them all with a smile.
Remus had told the others his plan already and they thought it was amazing.
"Hey Pads?" He whispered, kissing the top of his head.
Sirius hummed and leaned in closer to him.
"Can you go grab me a marker? I think I saw one on the counter earlier."
Sirius paused and leaned away, giving him a curious look, "A marker?" He repeated. Remus nodded,
"Yeah, I think it was in the kitchen."
Sirius shrugged and stood up, walking over to the counter to find the black sharpie Remus had placed there earlier.
He sat back down, passing it over, "What's this for?"
"Give me your hand." Remus whispered.
The others went silent, watching them quietly.
Remus could feel adrenaline shooting through him, just like the last time he'd done this.
He carefully drew a heart on Sirius' hand, big enough to reach from one side to the other.
Sirius smiled, "I didn't think you still remembered. It's been years since I've talked about that."
Remus nodded quietly, lifting his hand up so Sirius couldn't see what he was writing.
Sirius watched him, impatiently waiting until Remus let him see.
Inside the heart was now four words, written in Remus' neat cursive,
"Will you marry me?"
Sirius looked up so suddenly it caught Remus by surprise.
He threw his arms around him, burying his face into his shoulder,
"Yes." He breathed, "Of course I want to marry you, Moons."
They kissed, teary eyed and holding each other close.
The others ran to them immediatley, pulling them into hugs and shouting congratulations.
Sirius told that story for an even longer amount of time.
If you look carefully enough, you'll still find a black marker in every room of their home.
Every note they leave for each other are always signed by these, and always with a small heart at the bottom in place of a signature.
Sirius still draws little hearts on him when he's bored sometimes.
And it's still Remus' favorite part of his day.
*out of your door*
Hi do you ever think about the way Aizen hugs Hinamori when they reunite in that damned hall because it is interesting, like, there is such an emphasis on it, it has such a focus that there is a step-by-step depiction of that: starting from her crying, his surprise, his eyes, and slowly his movements, so delicate, tender when there was no need to be so. But at the same time it is not a normal hug, because he can't be normal to save his life.
Tumblr media
Momo is small in his arms while he is embracing her, right before that she looked at him as he was the sun; be reunited whit him is the only thing that matter because he is the centre of her life and she is happy to finally disappear in him again. It's such a desperate relationship (by both sides mind me) that they don't exist as separate entities. And that is what Aizen does, separating her from everything (and everyone) else but him, making her part of himself even when he is going to kill her. Because even in death she was his and can only be that, they gravitate into eachother to the point of destruction. "I didn't want to be the one to kill you, but it has to be done so you die and you die on me because I am your identity" (you are all mine but being so I became yours). Or are you normal?
btw. i reread trsom next just for the raphael content. he is so fucking funny all the time and i miss him. the way he acts like he doesnt care until magnus’ wellbeing is brought up and he is immediately asking if something is happening or if he needs help. and he talks to alec because he wants to help magnus. the way he cares for his vampires. IN THE BOOK IT LITERALLY SAYS “his vampires” when referencing lily and elliott. theres a scene of raphael pushing them out of the way of danger and of raphael brushing dust out of elliotts dreadlocks. im dead i die. when there is danger he runs straight to his vampires. he stops them from endangering themselves and puts their safety first. whenever hes even slightly annoyed or uncomfortable he texts ragnor’s phone number like he would still respond. he loves his people
unfortunatley i will never forgive Mike Flanagan for his hill house show. "its not the same as the book" does not even begin to outline the violence done to that book. Flanagan's show has a lesbian in it. Shirley Jackson's book is ABOUT LESBIANISM.
Every once in a while I think again about the end of Thriller Bark and feel completely insane and ill about Zoro's sacrifice, FOR LUFFY, specifically (you know, the character Kuma's threat was directed at). It wasn't even that long into traveling together, a few months maybe, yet Zoro was ready to give up everything in that moment - in the chapter with Kuma appearing being titled The End of the Dream ! - to protect his crew and Luffy, so he could continue in his journey.
Tumblr media
Since Luffy and Zoro met, they always understand how words and promises were imporant to them - with Luffy punching Helmeppo in ch. 3 for lying to Zoro. Zoro learnt how serious Luffy was about his dream, and soon he realized he backed up his words with actions as well - untiying Zoro and giving him his swords back - his biggest treasures. It meant that Zoro could be honest and honor-bound in the same way to Luffy, to gain this mutual respect and trust between them since day 1. To wield his swords to protect both Luffy and later their whole crew, and to step in a way between Luffy and danger.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
He was being actually more upset that Sanji got up from the previous Kuma's attack and interrupted their fight - Zoro was trying to keep the whole crew safe by this exchange for Luffy's head - if Sanji was offering his life for Luffy half dead and without much strength left to fight for himself (he started the offering of his own life already believing he woudn't survive, with a "you should find a new cook"), then this very specific sacrifice would be meaningless to the crew (- if this arc was taking place post WCI, then it would turn out very differently, with the strength of Sanji believing in Luffy, but it wasn't his moment during this scene) - it would hurt them more than help them, because as much as Zoro was prepared to die as well, he was prepared to keep fighting until the last breath.
Zoro was thinking he might die - Kuma's words were pretty certain he WOULD die - but he still had the willingness and strength to take on the deal for Luffy, for his captain and his crew. ("if i die here, it just means I wasn't worth much to begin with" this line he says times and times again during the overall story, like in Rogue Town throwing Kitetsu and waiting if it would cut off his arm, up until standing against King in Wano "it's my power that was lacking", and all the other times he was questioning his worth - it's something he tempts the fates he doesn't believe in, to actually harm him, to take his strength away if he doesn't deserve to survive. and it's him saying he knows and accepts his own weaknesses - of not being strong enough (in comparison to Sanji in this example), and always fights through them.)
He threw away his swords, including Wado Ichimonji - literally throwing aside his and Kuina's dream, to compell Kuma into a duel (with the anime playing 'The Very Very Very Strongest' when Zoro bowed down and pleaded Kuma, offering him his head instead of Luffy's) so Kuma wouldn't go after the crew and specifically Luffy later - no matter the outcome if Zoro would surive or not.
Tumblr media
And then, he was actually strong enough to survive taking his captain's fatigue, agony and pain! Possibly being the only one who could survive taking Luffy's pain.
Zoro could have back out when Kuma offered him the 'taste' of the pain, with the realization of the scale of the hurt with the very possibility of dying from it. But that wouldn't be Zoro now, would it? He accepted and took all of Luffy's pain so his captain wouldn't have to suffer or die, and when they found him afterwards, he still kept standing, tense with the fatigue but alive! (again, with anime adding the music of 'Luffy's Fierce Attack' to underline the importance between these two).
He was training for this since the beginning - to become stronger to shoulder the pain of his crew if necessary. (And not only that - he was preparing for that so another Kuina incident didn't have to happen). He was the first one to fight one of the Warlords before anything really began: his fight with Mihawk at Baratie really set the tone and his own goals to overcome - a glimpse to see on how much different levels the Warlords actually were in comparison to Zoro, Luffy and the others, and if they were supposed to beat them so Luffy could become the Pirate King, that always meant to be ready and to get even stronger than them.
(small spoiler for egghead, ch. 1102: seeing Kuma (a Warlord at that time) remembering this Thriller Bark event later, during Egghead arc, and thinking that even he might have passed out from the pain, makes it all the more meaningful that it was Zoro who took the pain and withstood it - establishing how high was the strength of his willpower, already before timeskip.)
Tumblr media
There could be so many other nuances and details from these last few chapters of this arc, and even what this deal meant for the following arcs! Zoro was still in pain on Sabaody, and because of that the crew wasn't as strong as it could have been (not to say they would have a chance anyway, knowing what all was in the motion).
The next is the tragedy and beauty of LUFFY never finding out about this. Half of the crew knew: Sanji, Brook and Robin knew the details, but would never tell Luffy - and that shows their loyalty to both Luffy and Zoro (and Zoro's decision). Luffy woke up and first thing he did was to jump up and down, excited not to be weighted down by his injuries, and only seeing his swordsman being down with injuries so severe he was out more days afterwards, knowing that something else attacked them (him = Zoro), after he was passed out from the fight against Moria, brought down his mood (even if it's not much noticable, but the change into subtle worry is there in the few next chapters).
Tumblr media
"I can't explain it either!" - meaning he was thinking about it too, possibly how weird it was for him to move normally after such long fight. We don't really ever hear/see Luffy thinking about something, except when it's mentioned how he came up with a solution or idea, telling us there's more to Luffy than just being straightforward in his goals and speech. With Luffy being sometimes very emotionally intelligent when he wants to be, he could have figured it out from all these other people in the room asking similar questions and deducing. Even Usopp was putting two and two togehter. We might never find out if Luffy actuallly knows or not. Luffy probably wouldn't ask Zoro directly, especially if Zoro wouldn't tell first and didn't want to talk about it
- because for Zoro, nothing happened! Nothing, that would compromise his and Luffy's first promise. For Zoro to become the Strongest he couldn't back down from the duel with Kuma (just like before with his duel with Mihawk at Baratie. When he's faced with something he swore to overcome, he can't back down or evade. Even back then Luffy understood that as he held back Johnny and Yosaku, but Sanji was perplexed how far Zoro (and Luffy) would go to reach their dreams). When Sanji was asking him in front of Kuma "What about your dream?" Zoro was still thinking about his dream- it was just that the context has changed, it changed into a journey. His dream is the most important thing, but it wouldn't mean much, if, when on his way to accomplish that, he would betray his other words and promises.
something I find really fascinating and heartbreaking and also not really talkes about is how different (OR ARE THEY) the master's disguises are to himself.
I present to you professor Yana - a delightful, optimistic, endlessly kind old man, fascinated with creativity, hope and science, sounds familiar? pretty similar with the doctor, isn't it?
and if you know the big finish audio story "master", the master ends up AGAIN as a human with no memories or recollection of what he is. and what does he do? he takes the name John Smith and becomes a doctor and is described by his friends as the "kindest man". he's gentle and he worries about his friends and, self-described, even if totally fascinated by the prospect of death and evil, couldn't actually harm anyone.
and O - yes, I know he was actively tricking the doctor then, bear with me - he was so cute and eager to please and happy to be there and nice to people.
simm!master was a little shit in every way, but he ended up saving the doctor.
and we all cried over missy long enough (as is proper).
I just think of how the doctor is right, that deep down, when it comes to it, the master IS his best, oldest friend. soulmates in every way, in every reincarnation, in any combination.
to quote oscar wilde, "give a man a mask and he'll tell you the truth". it's truly infinitely fascinating and borderline tragic how, everytime he acts (voluntarily or not) as someone else, the master is so strikingly a copy of all the goodness in the doctor.
