I'm Xel and I live in a society! I think there's a solid chance you do also! So you may relate to the profoundly crappy thing that happened to me and that I once again need a community assist.

I lost a temporary job that was supposed to turn into a permanent job in June because no one there felt safe enough to retire. Only two of us in the apartment were under 50. One of the crew was over 70. Three were chronically ill/disabled. No one felt safe enough to leave in order for me to stay, so I was trained for basically 6 months for nothing.

I have survived on savings from that job until this point, but I'm at the point where I cannot pay rent. I'm looking into getting help from sources more local to me but the internet has always felt like people who cared about me more than the people I share DNA with, really.

Many of the social services that I was signed up for expired the day that I was supposed to be told that I would be a permanent hire, and since that didn't go down, now I have to start it all again from the beginning, and there are gaps in my security net.

I tell you all of that just to say that I am actually trying to do things, I'm not here to just beg and coast along on some sort of lavish lifestyle where I, uh. Keep living in this dodgy apartment with my cat.

I don't want to bore you with an itemized list, but like 2,000 US dollars would get me through September and October without being worried about it like every 3 minutes. My rent is 700 and change, if you would like to know that. So I'm looking for like September and October rent and money to renew my driver's license, pay a few utility bills, buy a bag of cat food, and refill my medications.

If you have the notion to toss help at an internet pal or the extended reblogged acquaintance of an Internet pal, as is more likely the case, probably, that would be super rad of you.

I'm an artist! You could get things with images on them from me! I sell buttons, prints, and commissioned illustrations if that's your thing. My commissions are going a bit slow as of late - I only recovered from being not really able to walk like 2 months ago, and so I'm doing a lot of catch up like everywhere else in my whole life and trying not to spend too much time at a desk since it aggravates the spine thing that was the problem in the first place.

To be honest, it would be a greater help to me to just receive some Aid rather than full-on commissions, but I completely understand feeling fishy about people getting something for nothing and also feeling bad for being a charity case on the internet, so I'm not opposed! If you want to chat about that, I have a commissions post on the side or top of my blog depending on where you're looking at this!

Ko-fi contains my buttons and is a good place to toss digital dead American presidents if that suits you. I will get hit by some PayPal fees in this process but, I'm willing to call that a call for help on the internet tax.

I promise I'm a real person and not a bot who has made up a cat and is pretending to have interests. My blog has been here since 2010! I've met people on this website in person and everything. I've had embarrassing obsessions no bot would bother coming up with. Speaking of:

Similarly to times before, I would like to be able to do something in order to feel like I have earned some kind of support, and as of my birthday last week I have resolved to try very hard in the next year to conquer my fear and absolute mortification about many of the things I make, so I will once again go digging into my archives for things I can post for you to enjoy as thanks and tribute! No episode today (i have a test i gotta study for booo) :( However in usual “no episode today” style, I’ve got some behind the scenes stuff! (+ answering asks). I’m really glad you guys like hearing about this part of the blog :D

It’s a little long so I’m putting it under the cut

So my latest method of answering asks is to write a quick outline/reply and save it in drafts (as opposed to what I was doing, which was copy pasting asks into the notes app and writing replies there. dont ask whats wrong with me; I dont know). Anyway this specific comic had its first ‘script’ (shoutout to @/ghostburface for the ask)

I usually draw out what I imagine happening and then add text to hit the points im aiming for, but I did the opposite in this one. I had a lot of trouble figuring out the actual visuals for this one

(For the record I tried to find the original price of the glasses on the las Nevadas merch page but it wasn’t there. I remember losing my mind over the price tho)

attempt/draft 2 (sort of) since I wasn’t sure about the layout. I was really hoping to just have three panels (as you can see by the “if 3 that would be epic” note above)

And then I transferred it digitally! I did go over the script in DMs with my friend so it ended up as it did I did see one person pointing out the whole “rose colored glasses” thing (shout out to you fr !!). I had a lot of meaning I was going for with this one but I have a hard time finding a middle ground between “so obscure its not there” and “way too obvious”

I also wanted to answer some asks (as per usual :3 because I love talking with you guys)

I wish he would grow it out!! However as anyone who’s gone from short to long hair... the awkward phase is NOT pretty. I did hear on one of his streams he might cut it when the EP comes out rather than the album. because he’s a coward (but I can’t blame him)

who doesnt feel like ripping up their pillow though, amiright fellas? Shout out to all the utahlive fictives out there (I’ve heard of reported sightings). Would love to talk to you guys some day <3 It still baffles my mind that this blog leaves any sort of lasting impression on people (for reals though, I hope you guys are ok!!)

this one isnt directed at me but I just think its funny you say this because summer 2022 I went to the Winchester house with my friends, but we all decided it wasn’t worth the price so we just checked out the gift shop and walked around the outside for about two hours. it’s actually very pretty! super cool architecture

Six of Crows fan-written Script

Thanks to everyone who voted in the poll to see if you guys wanted to keep this going!! 🖤

Hi, so in true me style I still haven't got around to organising these posts into scene breakdowns so this is the next part of episode 1 scene 5, I'm hoping that I can get the end of scene 5 out in the next post and then from that point forwards I'll be able to post it scene by scene. I hope that makes sense.

Same reminder as usual: I'm trying to be as true to the books as possible whilst also matching Show!canon but I've also taken the occasional bit of artistic licence as to how I would imagine producing the show myself, for example inserting my personal headcanon about Anya in the opening scene of episode one. Also, I have never written a script before so the formatting is my own made-up method; if it doesn't make sense please let me know and I'll adapt it :)

Side note: Would it be helpful for me to make a masterlist with links to the parts I've already posted?

Recap since it's been a while - Kaz is with Van Eck at the Hoede house and is holding a knife to the merch's throat when Mika walks through the wall, frightening Kaz because he thinks he's hallucinating from a drug Van Eck has given him

EPISODE ONE SCENE FIVE (PART 2)

KAZ: What the hell is this?

VAN ECK: Let me go and I’ll explain

KAZ: You can explain right where you are

VAN ECK: What you’re seeing are the effects of jurda parem

KAZ: Jurda’s just a stimulant. It’s harmless

VAN ECK: Ordinary jurda, yes. Jurda parem is completely different - and most definitely not harmless

KAZ: So you did drug me?

VAN ECK: Not you, mister Brekker. Mika

[KAZ turns and looks at MIKA. The camera moves slowly up the Tidemaker’s figure; his hands are trembling, the dark circles beneath his eyes are pronounced, and his kefta is slightly ill-fitting as though he has lost a lot of weight since it was last altered]

VAN ECK: Jurda parem is a cousin to ordinary jurda - from the same plant. We aren’t sure of the production process, but a sample was sent to the Merchant Council by a scientist named Bo Yul-Bayurr

KAZ: Shu?

VAN ECK: Yes. He wished to defect, so he sent the sample to prove his claims regarding the drug’s extraordinary effects - Please, mister Brekker, this is a most uncomfortable position. If you’d like, I can give you a pistol and we can sit and discuss this in a more civilised fashion

KAZ: A pistol and my cane

[VAN ECK gestures to one of the stadwatch guards by the door, who leaves briefly and returns with KAZ’s cane]

KAZ: Pistol first. Slowly

[The guard unholsters his own gun and hands it to KAZ by the grip. KAZ grabs the gun and cocks it in one swift movement, then releases VAN ECK and throws the letter opener onto the desk before snatching his cane from the guard’s hand. He is immediately more comfortable. VAN ECK paces backwards and KAZ moves slowly towards the window]

VAN ECK: That cane is quite a piece of hardware, Mr Brekker. Is it Fabrikator made?

KAZ: None of your business. Get talking, Van Eck

VAN ECK: When Bo Yul-Bayur sent us the sample of jurda parem, we tested it on three Grisha - one from each order.

KAZ: Happy volunteers?

VAN ECK: Indentures. The first two were a Fabrikator and a Healer indentured to Councilman Hoede,

[KAZ frowns; he recalls hearing the name recently but cannot remember why]

and Mika is a Tidemaker. He’s mine. You’ve seen what he can do using the drug.

KAZ: I don’t know what I’ve seen.

[KAZ looks back at MIKA, and the camera follows his gaze. MIKA is focused intently on VAN ECK as though he is unaware of anything else in the room, his expression one of desperation]

VAN ECK: An ordinary Tidemaker can control currents, summon water or moisture from the air, or a nearby source. They manage the tides in our harbours. But under the influence of parem, a Tidemaker can alter their own state from solid, to liquid, to gas and back again and do the same with other objects - even a wall.

[KAZ frowns. He isn’t convinced, but he has no other explanation for what he’s seen]

KAZ: How?

VAN ECK: It’s hard to say. You’re aware of the amplifiers some Grisha wear?

KAZ: I’ve seen them - animal bones, and such. I hear they’re hard to come by.

VAN ECK: Very. But they only increase a Grisha’s power. Jurda parem alters a Grisha’s perception.

KAZ: So?

VAN ECK: Grisha manipulate matter at its most fundamental metals - they call it the Small Science. Under the influence of parem, those manipulations become faster and far more precise. In theory jurda parem is just a stimulant like its ordinary cousin, but it seems to sharpen and hone a Grisha’s senses. Things become possible that simply shouldn’t be.

KAZ: What does it do to sorry sobs like you and me?

[VAN ECK is marginally offended to be aligned with KAZ]

VAN ECK: It’s lethal. An ordinary mind cannot tolerate parem in even the lowest doses.

KAZ: You said you gave it to three Grisha. What can the others do?

VAN ECK: Here

[He begins to open one of his desk drawers and KAZ raises his pistol slightly]

KAZ: Easy

[VAN ECK opens the drawer with exaggerated slowness and pulls out a lump of gold the size of his palm]

VAC ECK: This started as lead.

KAZ: Like hell it did.

[VAN ECK shrugs]

VAN ECK: I can only tell you what I saw. The Fabrikator took a piece of lead in his hands, and moments later we had this.

KAZ: How do you even know it's real?

VAN ECK: It was the same melting point as gold, the same weight, the same malleability. If it’s not identical to gold in every way the difference has eluded us.

[He holds it out for KAZ to take]

VAN ECK: Have it tested, if you like.

[KAZ inspects the gold for a moment, then slips it into his pocket. He’s decided that even if it's an imitation, it's convincing enough for him to find it a purpose]

KAZ: You could’ve gotten that anywhere.

VAN ECK: I would bring you Hoede’s Fabrikator here to show you himself, but he isn’t well.

[KAZ glances at MIKA again, and the camera once more notes his sickly pallor and the dark circles beneath his eyes]

KAZ: Let’s say this is all real and not cheap coin trick magic. What does it have to do with me?

VAN ECK: Perhaps you heard of the Shu paying off the entirety of their debt to Kerch with a sudden influx of gold? The assassination of the trade ambassador from Novyi Zem? The theft of documents from a military base in Ravka?

[KAZ nods. He is glad to know the secret of the Zemeni Ambassador’s death and remembers JESPER talking about the three Shu ships filled with gold. Although he has heard nothing of the Ravkan documents, he doesn’t want VAN ECK to know that and so acts as if he is more than aware]

VAN ECK: We believe that all of these occurrences are the work of Grisha under the control of the Shu government and under the influence of jurda parem. Mr Brekker, I want you to think for a moment about what I’m telling you: Men who can walk through walls. No vault or fortress will ever be safe again. People who can make gold from lead - or anything else for that matter - who can alter the very material of the world. Financial markets will be thrown into chaos, the world economy would collapse.

KAZZ: Very exciting. What is it you want from me, Van Eck? To steal a shipment? The formula?

VAN ECK: No. I want you to steal the man.

KAZ: Kidnap Bo Yul-Bayur?

VAN ECK: Save him. A month ago we received a message from Yul-Bayur begging for asylum, he was concerned about his government’s plans for jurda parem, and we agreed to help him defect. We set up a rendez-vous, but there was a skirmish at the drop point.

KAZ: With the Shu?

VAN ECK: With Fjerdans.

[KAZ raises an eyebrow - the Fjerdans must have spies deep in Shu Han or Kerch, or both]

VAN ECK: The diplomatic situation is somewhat delicate, and it is essential that our government not be tied to Yul-Bayur in any way.

KAZ: You have to know he’s probably dead. Fjerdans hate Grisha; there’s no way they’d let knowledge of this drug get out.

VAN ECK: Our sources say he’s very much alive and that he’s awaiting trial.

[VAN ECK clears his throat]

VAN ECK: At the Ice Court.

[KAZ stares at him for a moment, then bursts out laughing]

KAZ: Well, it’s been a pleasure being knocked unconscious and taken caprice by you Van Eck - you can assure your hospitality will be repaid when the time is right. Have one of your lackeys show me to the door.

VAN ECK: We’re prepared to offer you five million kruge.

[KAZ pockets the stadwatch officer’s pistol. He is no longer afraid for his life, but he’s furious to have had his time wasted so tremendously]

KAZ: This may come as a surprise to you, Van Eck, but we canal rats value our lives just as much as you do yours.

VAN ECK: Ten million.

KAZ: There’s no point to a fortune I won’t be alive to spend. Where’s my hat? Did your Tidemaker leave it behind in the alley?

[KAZ begins to walk towards the door and the camera follows behind him]

VAN ECK: Twenty.

[KAZ pauses, and slowly lifts his head - an image mimicking that of season one of Shadow and Bone when he heard the offer of one million kruge. He turns slowly to face VAN ECK]

INEJ voiceover, a reminder of what she told him in Scene Three: Greed is your god, Kaz.

KAZ: Twenty million kruge?

KAz voicover from Scene Three: Greed bows to me.

[VAN ECK nods, but he doesn’t look happy about having raised the offer so much higher]

KAZ: I’d need to convince a team to walk into a suicide mission - that doesn’t come cheap.

VAN ECK: Twenty million kruge is hardly cheap.

KAZ: The Ice Court has never been breached.

VAN ECK: That’s why we need you, Mr Brekker. It’s possible Bo Yul-Bayur is already dead, or that he’s given up his secrets to Fjerdans, but we think we have at least a little time to act before jurda parem is put into play.

KAZ: If the Shu have the formula-

VAN ECK: Yul-Bayur claimed he’d managed to keep the specifics secret - we believe they’re limiting from whatever limited supply he left behind.

[KAZ has already started thinking about the job, and who he’ll need on his team - and what he’ll be able to do with the money. He pauses, and frowns]

KAZ: Why me? Why the Dregs? There are more experienced crews out there.

[MIKA has a sudden coughing fit, and VAN ECK helps him into a chai and offers him his handkerchief. He snaps his fingers at one of the guards]

VAN ECK: Some water

[The guard exits]

Finding loopholes in Uther’s laws is no easy feat. Court life is a dangerous game, but it’s one Merlin has every intention of winning so that Arthur can have knights of his choosing by his side.

Erebor is saved from the dragon and beginning to rebuild, but Thorin, newly healed from the injuries of the battle, suddenly takes ill.

The sickness is a dwarf's worst fear: highly contagious and always fatal. Thorin locks himself away to die a slow death, alone. Of he would, if not for the persistence of a certain hobbit. Bilbo breaks into the royal chambers, effectively locking himself away with Thorin.

Except as the disease progresses, he begins to think it looks rather familiar. In fact, it's a common childhood illness, one hobbits have been able to cure for years.

'There was an attack. Raiders. There was no warning of their coming.' Gandalf sighed: the broken sound of someone who has failed in their duty of care. 'They took everything they could carry, and burned everything they could not. Many of the fallen were impossible to recognise.' Gandalf leant on his staff, and the wizard looked more tired than Thorin had ever seen him. He swallowed, and Thorin wanted to put his hands over his ears, because he knew, sick and certain, why there had been no more letters from Bag End.

'Bilbo is not among those who live.'

(Bilbo's presumed dead, but has actually been taken by raiders. Thorin must rebuild his kingdom with a broken heart, while Bilbo fights his way across the wild north, broken and bleeding, to make his way back to the mountain that has become his home. With bonus hobbits re-homing in Erebor.)

Sherlock

Guard of Diocletian (14 drafts chapters available)

'What's his Shift?' John asked, frowning to himself. Sherlock had not mentioned anything about another form. That in itself was not unusual. A lot of people were rather private about their alternative shapes. It was frowned upon to ask someone outright what creature they were when changed, but Mike was like him, baseline, and if he was going to live with this man then he needed to know what he could wake up to find one morning. Shedding on the furniture was one thing, but he had no real desire to find a strange, threatening animal in the living room one day.

'He isn’t one, is he?' Mike's eyebrows were up, his honest face truly puzzled. 'I've never seen him change, and he's been coming here for years. I mean, I suppose he could be, but...' Mike trailed off with a shrug. 'I think he's like us.'

John pursed his lips, tapping his cane on the floor as he shook his head. 'No, Mike, he is nothing like us.'

L'Appel Du Vide (Six Draft Chapters Available)

Hunters were a rarity. In fact, there was really only one family that knew what they were doing and became a name to fear, but the last Van Helsing had died in 1886. Well, the last male Van Helsing, anyway. Still, that did not mean their unique genetic gifts had not been passed down the female line, holding steady and sure even as the name faded into memory. 'If I confirm your suspicion, what will you do?' 'You don't need to confirm it. I saw!' 'And yet you did nothing to stop me.'

Sherlock is a vampire, John is a Van Helsing. What could possibly go wrong?

a bit of a message talking about inactivity and my possible hiatus. I dont know if this counts as a cw but i talk about depression here and there at the beginning (nothing graphic) and as usual, its a rant

im gonna be straight honest rn, i'm probably not gonna be active on tumblr for these next few days, ive been super up and down depressed and im just unmotivated and too tired to do anything, im still gonna check in here and there but dont expect me to reblog or reply to many posts, if at all. This could mark the beginning of a hiatus, but with mood swings and up and down depression, i could be back, active as ever tomorrow. Ever since ive uninstalled Sims 4, i did feel a weight lift off my shoulders, but simultaneously made me depressed due to the lack of... well... doing something, i dont... really know how to put it into words, its just something in my brain that i just cant explain, i guess a good way to put it is playing sims 4 gave me the motivation to stem off into other mediums, blender for example, gave me something to do, something to learn, and while i can still use blender, i just get progressively slower and slower at doing stuff in it because of my limited resources, some scenes i want to do require specific outfits and i dont have the facilities to make those outfits... i mean i probably do but i just dont feel motivated to do all that. I still play other games, ive been playing a lot of slime rancher 2 and have been trying to branch out to other games (indie games and bigger games), I want to post gameplay but if youve seen me rant about tumblr before, one of my biggest gripes is just how fucking annoying it is to upload images, so i just get completely unmotivated to post images/gameplay especially if its just some silly post. if uh if anyone is still reading this, ill be honest, i havent even been motivated to write about WAS at all, probably havent touched the planning doc in about 2 weeks. This... 'spiral'... has been noticeable for me for the last week as my sleep schedule gets swapped around from sleeping at night and awake during the day... to sleeping during the day and awake at night, this is all my fault, but its also just something that happens rotationally for me, i go from sleeping VERY early in the evening (6PM at the earliest) and waking at VERY early times in the morning (4AM at the latest) to sleeping VERY late in the morning (6AM at the earliest) and waking up late in the evening (3PM at the latest), i dont really know what causes the shift, but it happens, and i often blame myself for it even though i dont know what causes it...

anyways sorry, this will probably mark a very iffy hiatus, like i said ill be active but not... super active, i didnt check tumblr at all yesterday/monday, so thats kind of the pattern to expect from me depending on the day. In the meantime... i might try to get back into older sims games, ive mentioned this before, but i do have sims 1 on my laptop so maybe ill post stupid little gameplay posts from there (granted i havent played in like... a month 😐). I'll probably put up a poll after this post for people to vote on which sims game i should play- i KNOW i did it once before but im probably gonna do it again cuz i cant find the post and i have over 1000 posts 😭

thank you for voting, everyone!! well done for campaigning for your characters and getting them through round one. some characters put up very tough fights, and others.....maybe weren't as evenly matched as they maybe could have been, haha.

before the main brackets continue, heres an extra chance to get two of the eliminated characters back in the running! yeah, two! ..but it might be a little confusing, so bear with me!

there will be larger polls for the loser rounds. the characters from the left who have been eliminated; Rachel Gardner, Niko, Goldia, and Aki Narukami. the characters from the right who have been eliminated; Russell Seager, Sunny, Noel Cerquetti, and Aya Drevis.

these characters will be put into two 4-option polls. one for the left side, one for the right side. for now, i'm just using the left side as an example.

this is the chance to get one of these characters back in the game if you think they didn't get justice! for the first part of the revival polls, simply vote who you want to see get a second chance, and the one with the most votes can be revived. but there's a catch. whoever is brought back will be replacing one of the characters who already survived, from their respective side.

focusing on the left side, lets say aki is gets the most votes for the character who will be given another chance...then, the next poll is to decide which of the survivors from the left side will get eliminated for her sake.

one of the characters who survived the first round will have to be eliminated to make space for the revived character! in this poll, it will clearly state that the person who gets the most votes here will be eliminated. so unlike the other polls, you'll want to avoid voting for the characters you want to win! i understand thats maybe a bit confusing - but if a poll doesnt have that added statement, its safe to assume that all other polls are just for voting the character you want to succeed. just make sure to read carefully during the revival round! vote for characters you actively dislike, ones you like the least out of the options, ones youve never heard of….just dont vote for the character youre rooting for when it says "you are voting for a character to be eliminated" .and dont get mad at me if you click wrong, im trying to make it as clear as i can.....

if claire elford got voted the most in this example, then aki and claire would simply swap places - claire would get eliminated, and aki would be back in the brackets up against madotsuki in the next main round. of course, im just using aki and claire as...... examples.

Thank you for the patience while i come and go, been a rough first half of 2023 but im slowly making progress, i think. im thankful to every single one of you who stuck around through my inactivity, and id like to offer a hug (if you guys are comfortable) to everyone whos been kind to me everytime i had to step away, on asks or replies. If i ever forgot to reply to anyone i promise you i read it and it helped a lot. Im thankful for what we have here, and i do hope to come back with a new competition eventually, maybe next year depending how long of a break ill need.

based on my poll it looks like a number of you guys are interested in knowing more about my ocs so! heres a pic of morgan and skinny i hadnt posted before. these two are the easiest to get into bc theyre not part of any project or story - they just exist for me to draw. info about them under the cut!!

skinny (the one standing above) is a 23yo con artist. his real name is valentine, but hes been nicknamed skinny from his childhood - he was always really small and thin for his age - and he goes by his nickname pretty much exclusively! he grew up without a lot of money and in a pretty unstable household, so he learned pretty early to not play by the rules.. petty theft and shoplifting, fraud, scams of any sort are all fair to him. day drinker, hedonist, drama queen, thrill seeker... skinny is always looking for the next thing thatll excite him.

morgan (kneeling) is 22 years old and undead. he was revived, very much against his will, by skinnys half-sister ursula, who works at the morgue where his body was being kept. morgan was brought back to life to serve as skinnys bodyguard and co-conspirator while he scams and cons his way around. he wasnt very happy about it at all to start off with, but eventually, he mostly adapted to his strange new lease on life. he remains a pretty gloomy and taciturn person - he always was, and whatever few friendships he had he lost with the whole dying thing, so he isnt really doing so well socially.

morgan and skinny dont live anywhere specific - they go from motel to motel and crash with various acquaintances, never staying anywhere very long. their unstable lifestyle is pretty fulfilling for them, though, and they have enough money to indulge skinnys various fancies and addictions.

part of the deal reanimating morgan is that he will die again if he gets more than 10 miles away from skinny. theyre always near each other, and at the same time mostly isolated from other people, and it doesnt make their relationship to each other very healthy. they bicker or get into shouting matches regularly. however, there is a genuine care for each other in both of them that extends past the transactional nature of their relationship.

skinny loves anything pink, heart shaped or fluffy, owns WAY too much clothing for someone whos always on the move, and spends a lot of his time on the phone talking to ursula or some friends of his (who exactly they are is always vague). morgan enjoys cooking and baking and likes wrestling. hes also a fan of rock and nu metal, and he frequently chugs embalming fluid - he says it keeps him "feeling fresh", but cant seem to explain it any better.

“Are you from like, Travertine, Devil’s Elbow, Cloverleaf way?” Artie asked, gesturing with three fingers to indicate the cluster of towns. They were barely towns, really, more like loosely grouped homes, farms, and rural industry that were large enough to each have their own shrine, pantry, schoolhouses, and Pony Express stations, but not much more.

“Yeah,” Lou said, surprised into letting the ‘curse’ talk lie. “How did you know?”

“Your accent,” she said.

“I don’t have an accent,” Lou said. She involuntarily covered her mouth with her hand. “Y’all have accents.”

“Wait, don’t tell me which one. Let me guess,” Artie said, excited. She pushed her hair out of her face and thought hard for a moment. “Okay. What does a bird lay?”

“An egg?” Lou said.

“‘Aig’,” Artie repeated.

“That’s— that's not what I sound like,” Lou protested.

Artie ignored her and continued. “The feeling when you wanna go to sleep?”

“Sleepy,” Lou said. She knew what Artie was trying to get her to say, but she didn’t want to play along anymore. Artie was having too much fun with it and Lou was beginning to feel cross-grained.

“Come on,” Artie said, looking over the top of her new, cursed sunglasses at her.

“Tired,” Lou said, begrudgingly.

“‘Tarred,’” Artie repeated.

“Okay, stop making fun of me,” Lou said. “I get it. I’m country as a turnip green.”

“I’m not making fun. I’m investigating,” she said. “Besides, I like it. Your accent. And I like turnip greens.”

Lou didn’t say anything, just lifted her hat, smoothed her sweaty hair back, and put it back on her head. They were quiet for a while and Lou hoped Artie had decided not to pursue the question any further.

“The thing you write with? The ink one?” Artie said finally, with a little smile.

Lou heaved a heavy sigh and glared at her. She just smiled back, looking at her with those huge, dark eyes. “Pen,” she said, finally.

“‘Pin’,” Artie repeated, visibly delighted that Lou was still playing along. “Cloverleaf?”

Lou’s eyebrows raised involuntarily. How did she know that? “You had a one in three chance,” Lou huffed.

Artie leaned back with a big grin. Lou instinctively looked away from her teeth. “Anyway, don’t be embarrassed about being a country girl. Johnny Knives is inaka, too.”

“How did you know?” Lou asked.

“About you? I don’t know. I’ve been all over the place and I like hearing people talk. And my dad is from near Travertine,” Artie said. “I guess, me too, but. It’s complicated. Anyway, you got a stronger accent than her. So it was easy. I feel like the pin-pen thing is so Cloverleaf. Oh, and how you say golly like that all the time. ‘Gol-lee’. Very Cloverleafian.”

PUT YOUR IDEAS/REQUESTS HERE FOR BRIDGERTON FANFICTION

For this Bridergton piece, I want to try to implement audience suggestions and ideas. Below, I will write out the entire premise of the story (which covers seasons 1 & 2, potentially 3 if there is room to add on). In between the paragraphs will be questions where I want to know your opinions. I might not be able to add all requests because they might conflict with each other but this seems fun.

I'm gonna add questions that you can answer if you don't have requests or specific ideas. Maybe the questions can help.

The genre/concept: romance + court intrigue/politics

Warning: Plans to include smut, period accurate awful medicinal practices, completely inaccurate vision for a better government with more rights that's actually supported

The poll picked Benedict but if you want an ex or want to suggest another pairing after reading the premise then feel free to add it.

These aren't going to be all the plot points just the ones I feel are important to note or are canon adjacent in the storyline. Only a few completely noncanon and not adjacent points might be mentioned. And I don't think any of the politics plot is needed at the moment.

The premise is:

SEASON 1

Charlotte and George's children don't meet the public until they are older or adults and even then they wear a mask for the first years of being public. All of this is to protect their kids in case they have the same illness as George. Their daughter (Reader) has the same illness as George.

Question 1: How severe do y'all want the illness to be?

The public hates the current heir George IV and want it to be one of his other siblings (although not certain ones because they don't like them either). If any of the other siblings stepped up and challenged George IV, the people would support him. But the only problem is Parliament. A few want George because they think they'll be able to control him.

The people love reader because she always writes letters to the people. They get posted in some popular area of London and then others copy it down or spread the news until everyone knows. Reader also donates to charity a lot even without physically being there.

Reader is also kind of like Lady Whistledown by publishing pamphlets to, not just the ton, but all of the UK (since she has the resources to do so). Except these writings are fiction pieces.

Question 2: Do you want reader's fiction pieces to be under her name or a pseudonym?

Because of an incident, she isn't sure if she'll be able to introduce herself to society. Reader will meet the Bridgertons because she wants to see who her mother named Diamond up close. Violet invites her to stay for breakfast and this starts a regular occurrence of the reader seeing the Bridgertons at breakfast.

Question 3: Do you want reader to show up pretending to be the princess' lady in waiting or do you want her to show up as herself but wearing the mask she has to wear?

Eloise introduces her to Penelope the morning before Lady Danbury's ball that opens up the social season. At home, reader begs her mother to go to the ball but Charlotte says no because of a previous incident. She tells her that next time she may be able to. The next morning, Reader waves to the Bridgertons as she brings flowers to the Featheringtons house while Marina is receiving all these suitors.

Reader later returns to the Bridgertons where Berbrooke is an witnesses firsthand Daphne's uncomfortableness. She starts her mission to find a new suitor for Daphne or a reason that Berbrooke can't marry her. Reader leaves to go see the Featheringtons and Marina's suitors embarrass themselves. Oh and Colin is there. She is becoming close to Penelope, Eloise, and Marina. She is friends with Colin as well but nowhere near as close as Penelope is.

Reader is allowed to attend the opera. There she is invited to a dinner along with the Duke of Hastings so Violet and Lady Danbury can make his invitation seem less suspicious. She agrees to go, not caring what anyone might say and leaves under the guise of wanting to go see her father at his vacation in Kew. She does go to Kew afterwards and realizes that she gets so much freedom when she is there. Charlotte is hesitant to let it happen because the physicians have said it aggravates reader's illness to be around George.

As the princess, with mask on and everything, reader attends the party at the end of episode 1 in secret. She stays in the gardens where she can see everything but no one can see her. She goes to save Daphne from Berbrooke and hears all of Simon and Daphne's plan, agreeing to say nothing.

After the entire incident with Berbrooke at the picnic, reader returns at night with concrete evidence of how to stop the marriage. She says she cannot stay long but to delay the marriage with Berbrooke until she can return. She is also present for Eloise and Benedict's conversation and it makes her think about her privilege.

Reader comes back with the tea but is informed they already know so she goes back because she is expected at home. Reader is heading back to Buckingham House because her cousin, Prince of Prussia, is in town and she avoided having to go back for like a week or two but she must return. But her and her cousin are friends so she comes back. Her sister is pregnant.

Reader visits the Featheringtons to hear from Marina and hang out with her and Pen. She reads a letter Daphne wrote. The two go to stop the duel. Reader goes back with her and says she'd love to help with wedding plans. The Prince comes back to get closure with Daphne.

Question 4: If she is not known, do you want the prince to out reader as his cousin or catch on really quick?

Marina writes to Reader a lot about Colin. Also, Reader hears about Daphne and Simon's special license being revoked and teaches them along with Lady Danbury how to give the Queen what she wants.

If Benedict doesn't know the reader is the princess then he will take her to the artist Granville's studio. She'll go home with him. If not, we can cut right to Marina telling Reader that the old man wants to marry her. She goes over to the Featheringtons but isn't allowed in the room where they are talking so she and Pen spy outside the door with two different reactions to Marina's plan with Colin.

Question 5: If reader is known to be the princess in the story, should Benedict take her to Granville anyway?

Question 6: Should reader get her freak on at the party like men do or no? If yes, with who? Granville, Ben, dress maker, Granville's wife, a combo?

Reader is present for Colin and Marina's engagement. Of course, she's the only one excited. With Daphne gone, reader is currently more at the Featherington's house than the Bridgertons. Reader decides to help Marina because she knows that Marina likes Colin. She doesn't agree but she will helps since they are in love... very much her mother's daughter. She does become conflicted when she learns that Pen loves Marina and is no longer sure of the right thing to do. She gets mad at how Marina tries to let Pen down because she wants everyone to get along. Reader just tries to keep the peace until she can figure out what to do.

Lady Whistledown's paper comes out and now everyone knows about Marina. Daphne comes home admist the news.

Reader takes Pen and Marina over to the Bridgertons, ignoring Lady Featherington. They don't really want to see Marina but allow reader and Pen in. Reader tells Marina she will try to fix things and Marina is just grateful she'll try even if more than likely it won't work. Reader interrupts Colin and Daphne. They would be happy to see her under any other circumstance. Everyone goes downstairs and Daphne announces that she'll chaperone Colin and Marina's visit. Reader and Pen are there for Colin and come to the Bridergton house ahead of Marina to support him. Reader hopes they can fix things while Pen doesn't.

Reader is upset about the entire situation, including Daphne and Simon's situation. She lets everyone have a piece of her mind. She talks about her conflicting feelings but still is mad at Colin in the end, not because he doesn't want to marry Marina but because he thinks her love was a lie. She wants to go comfort Marina while everyone else goes to the Queen's luncheon.

When Daphne shows up to apologize, reader doesn't want to leave and only does so reluctantly. Reader and Daphne apologize to each other and reader promises not to tell anyone about her and Simon's situation. That goes south pretty quickly when Anthony tries to fight Simon at the gentlemen's club.

Reader decides to join Eloise in the hunt for Lady Whistledown's identity. But currently, she is checking up on Marina. Philip Crane and the Bridgertons arrive. Reader notes the time and that she must leave. She sees Eloise on the way there and goes to Genevieve's shop with her. Reader stays when Eloise leaves and decides to cover the Featheringtons tab with the dress maker. (If reader isn't known at the princess, this makes Benedict and Genevieve suspicious for a moment about how she has enough money).

Note 1: If you choose for reader not to be known as the princess then Benedict and Genevieve become briefly suspicious about how reader has enough money.

Note 2: If you chose for reader not to be known as the princess AND to get her freak on then Benedict will also have a moment of panic thinking he might have "corrupted" a lady of the ton.

Reader and Eloise both think Genevieve is Lady Whistledown and tell Penelope when she arrives at the Bridgerton house. She leaves soon after to go home, telling the Bridgertons that the princess will finally introduce herself to society.

Reader, with her mask, introduces herself at the Hastings ball. It's partially to help the Bridgertons seem even better in society after the Colin and Marina incident. If she met the Bridgertons as the princess, then she will bring Colin and Penelope together at the ball. If she was a lady in waiting then she will just happen to pass by them at the ball.

Note 3: If the reader is known then she will bring Colin and Penelope together at the ball.

Note 4: If the reader is not known then she will just happen to pass by them and that's how she overhears Colin's plan to travel before being told.

Reader goes to the Featheringtons to console them over Lord Featherington passing and to see Marina off to start her new life with Philip Crane. She stops next door to see Colin off on his adventures. Eloise and Reader both realize that Genevieve isn't Lady Whistledown after Benedict confesses they were out together.

Reader's sister dies and their are no heirs anymore. The public starts seriously considering which royal child they will throw their support behind and protest for until parliament is forced to ask for a challenge.

SEASON 2:

Reader writes a letter congratulating Daphne on her child and she spoils the kid often. She also walks the town more as the masked princess. Now that she's out, the Queen announced that she will aid in picking Diamond, because of that and all of reader's letters last season, the public is buzzing thinking she'll challenge her brother soon to be the heir.

Reader basically has an office at the Bridgerton house. When Anthony announces Eloise needs a new lady's maid, Reader offers help.

Note 5: If reader is not known then she'll help Anthony make a list of eligible women.

Note 6: If reader is known then as princess she can't make that list but she will listen to all the gossip.

During one of her early morning walks she goes to Lady Danbury's house and sees the Sharmas. At a ball later on, reader attends. She realizes that she does want to rule or at least she'd better for the people than her brother. With this plan, reader knows she must start her preparations to debut in society. It can be anytime because she's a royal but she thinks during the social season would be best.

At the Queen's ball, Charlotte gives reader the spotlight to name Edwina as diamond. Reader is interested in the Sharmas since they are new to London and she knows the family of everyone in the ton and has a list of every other family in the UK. She goes there and arrives in time to hear Kate's list of potential suitors that would be good to marry. No matter what y'all choose, reader will only meet the Sharmas as the masked princess when she goes to their house or Lady Danbury's house. Since they are new, reader tells them that she doesn't want to announce her debut till at least one of them is engaged. Reader tells them to write to her.

It's part of her plan. She wants all the citizens of the UK to feel comfortable writing to her which will make them like her. She doesn't feel the need to expand her close friends though, at least for the moment. She does write to Marina about twice a month and keeps that correspondence.

Reader is at the Bridgerton house when Colin comes home. She doesn't go to the races with the family.

Our first romance bonding moment and not friendship bonding moment will be when the boys are fencing and reader joins them. She gets a pamphlet from when Eloise met Theo and agrees with a lot of it, making Eloise happy. When Danbury's soiree for Edwina suitors happens, reader doesn't go because she can't watch it once let alone a second time when it happens to her and her line of suitors.

Reader is invited to the Bridgertons' event at their country home. She isn't sure if she can make it but will try. She does make it, albeit a bit late, and gladly takes baby Augie after Colin. Anthony recruits reader's help to win over Edwina even though she isn't a part of the family. Colin cracks a joke about her becoming family that make a few of them look at him like huh. Lady Danbury takes Augie from reader. Reader meets the Sharma's dog Newton who she loves. Benedict tells Colin and reader about applying to art school.

When Colin offers Benedict the drug tea, they give some to reader who hangs out with them a lot now. The tea has a bad effect that Colin and Benedict have to help reader get through which definitely sobers him up after dinner.

Reader doesn't see Anthony's engagement because she takes herself to home to try and get better after the bad trip with the tea before moving to Kew after a really bad incident that everyone thinks is her but it's just the tea. She writes Benedict a proper congratulations about getting into art school. Kew turns into sketchy doctor time like with George but not as extreme yet. Most of her letters aren't allowed out unless she writes them a certain way, she doesn't get to read any letters she has received, her fictional stories and letters to the public might as well be non-existent, but she still is allowed Lady Whistledown news read to her.

Reader is permitted by her doctors to go to Anthony's wedding. Some of the Bridgertons notice she looks different but can't pinpoint it and reader won't say. She snaps out of it a bit but basically relapses. Reader is whisked back to Kew before Ben can talk to her.

In this one, the Queen doesn't suspect Eloise of being Lady Whistledown for a few weeks. Reader hears about Eloise in Whistledown and is determined to do something about it. She has no hope of escaping but gets Reynolds at a time when her doctors aren't around to deliver the letter to the public. This costs her though. Kew becomes worse.

Reader tries to escape and actually manages it, getting the carriage to take her close to London before it's too late. She stops the carriage before it can take her to any set destination just in case the doctors ask the carriage man. Reader makes it as far as the gate in the Bridgerton's backyard. She isn't well enough to go to the Featherington ball but is afraid of being left alone. She runs into her mother at the ball who request she go back to Kew and it wasn't right to sneak out. Charlotte says she can stay for the rest of the ball but after her carriage is going back to Kew.

She runs into Benedict before having to accept the inevitable and he can tell she's in distress.

Note 7: If reader is unknown, then she is unmasked when at the ball and the Queen is careful to make her seem like a maid.

Note 8: If reader is known then she ended up in the Bridgerton backyard with her mask on and they don't take it off out of respect.

Reader can't tell him everything but it's enough that he has a bad feeling. Charlotte senses their closeness and tells Benedict it's best if he doesn't persue anything. Reader will be at Kew for a minute so he can figure out his feelings. When Benedict goes home, he tosses Reader's letter in a drawer.

Everyone celebrates Kanthony's wedding. Benedict (+ the others) are extremely aware that reader isn't there. He realizes that he isn't over her and decides to go to her. He knows he can't just walk into Kew so he retrieves the letter and all the letters Reader sent, hoping it would be enough to get a chaperoned visit. Reader debuts into the social season. She has to entertain other suitors not just Bridgerton. It's basically every eligible man that can get into a ball or a picnic because who doesn't want to be the prince consort. He hears all about her failures and successes.

She is featured in Lady Whistledown and not for amazing reasons which eliminates some of her suitors.

Question: What do you want the secret to be if reader doesn't publish under a synonym?

Public support names reader heir. She starts the 2nd phase of her plan, ending the current Parliament and replacing it with a better constitutional monarchy that fits modern UK.

Reader courts Bridgerton mainly. She wants to be treated as normal as people can allow.

She's afraid to actually say yes to Ben's proposal because she's afraid of a love story that ends like her mom and dad. Ben doesn't give up.

Once reader says yes, they start planning a wedding.
