AN: ik you requested this after 17x16 anon, but i hope this still works now! this is easily the fluffiest thing i've ever written, and i hope you enjoy! also, sorry my fics have been so short lately...but what can you do. (contemplated posting this in a couple days, but ultimately didn't. don't start thinking i'll start posting regularly now though haha)

“Welcome home Luna,” she says to the quiet apartment, reveling in the way it felt like a home. She sits on the floor, rocking the car seat back and forth while her little girl sleeps, her fist curled into the blanket Link had gifted her a few months prior. She uses her finger to trace the outline of Luna’s nose, giggling silently when it scrunches up in her sleep.
She glances around the apartment, large and spacious in the matter of there was no furniture in it. New things would be delivered soon, but for now she had herself, her little girl, a mattress, and a Pack ‘N Play, and wouldn't wish for anything else.
Luna squirms a bit in her seat, and Jo thinks she’s going to wake up, when she really just circles her hand around Jo’s finger that had fallen close to her chest.
She feels her heart clench, immediately scrabbling at her phone to capture the moment, breathing a sigh of relief when the picture is taken and her baby hadn’t moved.
With that, another photo is added to the album she had labeled under Luna, and she laughs to herself at the absurd amount of pictures she already had of her daughter.
After a few minutes had gone, she tries to remove her finger to get a snack, but settles back down when Luna’s grip around her finger just tightens.
She sighs, but it’s more of a promise to the words that she says next.
“I’ll never leave you, I promise.”

She was driving frantically through the streets of Seattle, rain beating down against her windshield as she made a turn. She bit her bottom lip anxiously, nibbling on it until she could taste the copper on her tongue.
Pulling into the parking garage she stops the car haphazardly into the nearest space, snatching her purse so quickly from the passenger seat it nearly whips her in the face.
While in the elevator she pushes the top floor button so many times it nearly breaks, tapping her foot against the cool marble tile. Normally, she would marvel at the way that the elevator had such flooring (three months of living there and she still wasn’t used to such luxury) but tonight it was the furthest thing from her mind.
When the doors finally slide open, she’s out of them so quickly she nearly trips over her own feet, brushing multiple strands of dark hair that had fallen out of her bun behind her ears and out of her eyes. She swings the door of her home open, not even caring to notice the sound it made when it banged against the wall, too focused on the cries coming from the nursery.
Before she even reaches the room, the nanny comes out, carrying a crying Luna in her arms, trying to calm her down with gentle words and hushes.
“Oh thank god,” she says, exhaustion plain on her features. “I've been trying to get her to quiet down for over thirty minutes now. I’ve tried feeding her, changing her, rocking her, but nothing’s worked. I called you as soon as I knew you would be off work. I’m so sorry Jo, it’s just that—”
“—Hey, hey,” she says gently, taking her daughter from the girl. “It’s okay, I’ve got it from here. Thank you, take thirty from my wallet,” she starts rocking Luna in her arms, the screaming cries coming slowly to a stop once she comes to the realization that she was in her mother’s arms.
The nanny lets out a sigh, “How—? I mean, I’ve tried everything, but—” she stops, tucking the money into her back pocket as she watches Luna’s cries settle down to soft whimpers.
Jo smiles gently, locking eyes with the younger woman, “Sometimes she just needs her Mom.”

They were currently in the middle of a very intense game of peek-a-boo, Luna giggling and clapping her hands like crazy every time Jo would reveal herself behind her hands, each grin from the little one bringing one to Jo’s face as well. She could listen to the sound of her daughter’s laugh all day.
After one more boo, Luna laughs so much she falls back onto the couch, squirming and kicking her legs into the air, and Jo scoops her up, blowing kisses on her belly and ticking her little feet. “Mama’s so silly isn’t she?” she teases snuggling her nose with Luna’s.
“Mama, Mama!” she babbles, clapping her chubby palms against Jo’s face.
Jo freezes, not even noticing a small tear had escaped her eyes until she sees it fall on the tiny girl’s onesie. She smiles immediately, her cheeks hurting from how wide she was grinning.
“Yeah baby girl, I’m your Mama,” she hugs her daughter close to her chest, placing tiny kisses on the tuft of hair on her head, letting her happy tears fall freely, her heart so full she felt that it could burst.
The happiness she felt in that moment was greater than one she had ever felt before, and she knew it was a moment she would ever be able to forget.
It was official, she was a mom.

“Mommy, mommy!” Luna squeals, running and attaching herself to her mom’s legs the second she walks through the door, latching herself on so tightly Jo doubted anyone would be able to pull her off.
She crouches down and takes her girl in her arms, brushing back her hair from her face, “Hi Lunes,” she places a kiss on her forehead. “I missed you, you know that?”
“I missed you too, Mommy!” the three year old grins, grabbing her mom’s hand and dragging her through Meredith’s house, into the playroom that had somehow held up over years and generations of kids passing through.
She pulls up a plethora of drawings, shoving them into her mom’s hands. “Look Mommy, I made pictures,” she uses her finger to point at the drawing, “That’s you, that’s me, and that’s Chewy!” she exclaims, stopping on a figure which Jo could only assume was their pet goldfish.
“It looks amazing baby,” she places another peck on her daughter’s temple, taking in the scent of her shampoo. Three days without seeing her daughter was torture, but now that she was back home she felt like she could breathe again.
“Make one with me Mommy, then we can be matching,” Luna reasons, already pulling crayons out of the box and displaying them on the table.
Jo looks up to Meredith in the doorway, who only grins. “Go ahead, all she’s been talking about for the past three days is how much she missed you.”
The brunette’s expression relaxes, “Thanks again Mer, I hope she was okay,” she says, using her green crayon to draw the grass in her picture.
Meredith only scoffs, “Are you kidding? She was perfect. She’s my favorite goddaughter for a reason,” she says as she picks up some stray toys that were scattered across the room and tucks them into the chest.
“Were you good for Auntie Mer, Lunes?” Meredith asks the girl, who only nods excitedly.
“Yeah! I ate all my food and I go to sleep early,” she picks up a brown crayon and starts to draw hair on her picture, tongue poking out of her mouth as she focuses.
“You did!” Jo beams, voice cheery and happy when she sees that Meredith had no objections to Luna’s words. “I’m so proud of you baby.”
A little while later, both Wilson’s are done with their picture, and Luna pouts when they put the two next to each other. “Your’s is better,” she whines.
“What!” Jo gasps dramatically, taking Luna and placing her in her lap, wrapping her arms around her . “I think yours is so much better than mine Lunes.”
“Really?”
Jo ruffles her hair, “Oh yeah,” she picks up the drawing and holds it up as if showing it in the light added extra flair. “This one’s going up on the fridge.”

Shaking her daughter gently, she brushes her hair out of her eyes, stopping briefly when she feels Luna’s forehead. “Wake up sweetie, you have to get up and I need to take you to daycare.”
Luna groans, “Mommy, my head hurts.” she winces, putting her hand to her head and squeezing her eyes tightly shut, her bottom lip trembling.
Jo’s face immediately twists into a frown, placing her lips to Luna’s forehead, pulling away when she feels the heat practically radiating off of her.
As if she could read her thoughts, Luna immediately rips the comforter off of her. “It’s too hot Mommy.”
Jo hums, concern pooling in the bottom of the stomach; even though all her daughter most likely had was a common case of the flu, the doctor in her couldn’t help but imagine the worst scenarios.
When Luna lets out a hacking cough, she immediately lets the girl bury her head in her chest. “Can I stay with you today Mommy? I don’t feel very good.”
Jo nods, “Of course baby, of course. I’m just going to call work and then I'll take care of you okay?” When Luna agrees she untangles herself from the girl’s hold, quickly rushing back to her room and calling into work, telling them that she wouldn’t be able to make it in that day. She prepares some saltines and medicine, carrying them back to the room where Luna was clutching to her stuffed bunny, another violent cough ripping through her.
She places the crackers down on the bedside table, eventually coaxing Luna into taking the medicine, which she tries to spit out not even seconds after she takes a sip.
“Let’s go to my room, okay? That way you can watch some TV,” Jo says softly, lifting her up and into her arms when she nods, grabbing the crackers for later.
When Luna finally settles into her bed, she curls up to her mom the second she lays down. Jo puts on Disney Jr, and a Puppy Dog Pals re-run plays, lulling Luna into a temporary state of peace.
The rest of the day is filled with lots of soup, crackers, blankets, ice packs, Disney Jr, and so many tissues the wastebasket had started to spill over, but when Luna gets up the next day, completely fine, Jo’s more than relieved.
And when a few days later, Jo wakes up with the same symptoms Luna did a few days prior, the little girl tries to take care of her mother the same way she did her.

Wiping a few stray tears from her cheeks, Jo does a final comb through of her hair, letting it fall into uneven waves. It was too early to cry, there would be plenty of time for that later. “Lunes, ready to go?” she yells, stepping out of the bathroom and sliding on her shoes.
“Yeah Mommy. We need to go now or we’re gonna be late!” Luna stomps into her room, arms crossed over her chest, bottom lip puckered out in an adorable little pout.
Where Luna got her sense of urgency from, she wasn’t sure.
“I’m coming, I’m coming,” Jo laughs to herself, grabbing her purse and slinging it over her shoulder, taking Luna’s hand as they exit the house. “Wait, wait,” Jo says, stopping outside the door and rushing back inside to return with a blackboard saying ‘First Day of Kindergarten!’.
Luna sighs, but takes the board anyway and holds it up in front of their apartment door, smiling for the camera. When Jo had taken enough, she grabs Luna’s hand again, running to the car with her.
It only takes a few minutes before they arrive at the school, and both girls rush to the line for Mrs. Blake’s class, thankful that they hadn’t gone in yet. Luna makes conversation with the little girl in front of her, Kayla, and Jo talks to her mom, Christy, thankful that she wasn’t as stuck up as some of the other parent’s around them seemed. It was a private school, much different than the ones she had spent her childhood growing up in. She had promised herself ever since she was little that whatever children she had would have a different upbringing than her, and she took that to heart. Even if that meant paying for a ridiculously overpriced private school, with preppy uniforms, and parents that had jobs ranging from lawyers to actors.
When Mrs. Blacks comes out, she introduces herself and lets the parents say goodbye, she feels the pricks of tears in her eyes, trying to no avail to keep them from sliding down her cheeks.
She bends down to her daughter’s height, tucking a strand of her hair behind her ear, letting it rest on her rosy cheek. She sighs deeply, biting her bottom lip to stop it from wobbling.
“You be good, okay Lunes?”
The little girl nods. “I will. Don’t be sad Mommy.”
Jo laughs, pulling her into a bone crushing hug, releasing her only to rest her forehead against hers. “I love you baby.” she says, and she knows she’ll have to let her daughter go soon, off to start a new adventure, a new chapter in her life that has really only just begun.
“I love you too Mommy.”

My eyes skim over the articles. I can’t believe what I’m seeing. The headlines seemed to drag on forever, “Johnny Suh; NCT’s 5th member involved in Dating Scandal”. Another read, “NCT Johnny Caught with Foreigner; Photos Below”

I couldn’t resist clicking the link that my cursor hovered over. The full article was now displayed onto my screen. The pictures loaded for a second, then they were displayed before me. And there it was, Johnny Suh -my Johnny Suh- at a cafe with a blonde-haired foreigner. I continued scrolling, which was probably a mistake, but I was in shock. Certainly they were doctored by some vengeful sasaeng. Another link pops onto my screen, “NCT Johnny Suh has Foreign Girlfriend? VIDEO FOOTAGE”

A notification sound blares from my phone, the sixth one in the past half hour. I haven’t even picked up my phone, I know what the notifications are. There was no doubt in my mind that it was Johnny texting me a sad excuse for the video that’s now playing on a loop on my screen. I recognized her. Her blonde hair and small frame. It was his high school sweetheart; Madison. In the video -which was only about 8 seconds long- you could see him embrace her. They stood at the cafe table, drinks in hand, about to depart. Johnny’s long arms then spread out, welcoming her into a hug. He initiated it. Even in front of all these people, all these cameras. He hugged her. He knew exactly what he was doing. Another notification sound blared through my phone speaker. Why did this make me feel so threatened? So weak? I pick up my phone <6 unread texts from johnny❤> I open the messages, taking a deep breath as I do so.
johnny❤: baby?

My eyes widen at the last text. Why was he on his way here? What made him think that I wanted to see him?

I send the text with tears welling in my eyes. I was just beginning to fully wrap my head around the events that unfolded before me.

Me: i saw the pictures johnny… and the video. what excuse could you have?
My head began to spin, no way did he think I was going to fall for his pity story.

i’m only 2 minutes away, ill explain everything i promise
Take a deep breath. I think to myself, convincing myself that maybe he would have a good excuse. After all, it's Johnny. Would he ever do anything to hurt me? I struggled to gain composure as I heard a familiar knock on the door. The lock clicked and the door crept open. I stood in the living room of the homey suite.
“y/n..” Johnny’s voice breaks the silence. He peeks from behind the door.
My eyes meet his and I feel faint. What’s going to happen? I ask myself, not knowing the right answer as hundreds of thoughts fill my head.
He continues inside, closing the door softly behind him. He takes slow strides in my direction, and that’s when the tears well in my eyes. Why? I’m not sure, I’ve always been one to get overwhelmed easily, but this was new. His hand reaches out to take mine and I flinch away. The images of him taking another girl into his arms flashing in my head.
“Why her? How--” My voice breaks and the tears finally fall from my eyes.
“It’s not at all what you think it is, baby.” His voice was soft and genuine. Almost desperate.
“Then what is it? Huh?” My voice changed from calm to angry. I took a deep breath in an attempt to try to calm myself back down and I back farther away from him. “I... I was patient. I knew this would happen. I was understanding of the rumors, the lies. But this? These pictures? These videos?” I began to lose my cool. “How could you possibly explain this?” Anger was tainting my words, what was I saying? “If you want to be with her then just say that.” I spit the words out.
Johnny looks taken aback, rightfully so. “It’s not like that.”
“Then what is it, Johnny?!” I shouted, menacingly. “It isn’t adding up.” I plead as my voice cracks. “Please, just fucking explain yourself.”
He walks towards me again, I don’t have the energy to fight him anymore. He takes my hand and places a light kiss on it.
“I know you’re confused. I know you’re angry.” He doesn’t take his eyes off of mine. “People talk. In this industry, people talk so fucking much.” His tone was so gentle; he was hurt but still so gentle with me. “People will always talk, okay, y/n?”
I nod, tears streaming down my face at this point.
“I’m in the wrong here. You saw the videos, I know, but there’s more to it than that.” He sits me down next to him on the couch.
“I just don’t understand.” My voice trembles. “With the other members, Doyoung, Mark, it was just gossip, easily dismissed. But…” My voice trails off.
“I know.” He sighs and pulls me close to him. “Those pictures were taken completely out of context.” where is he going with this? “Yes, it was Madison. And I’m sorry for meeting up with her without telling you, especially with everything that’s been going on…” He traced his fingers in small circles along my back, something he often did when he needed to calm me down. He sighs and pulls me closer to him, we sit in silence for a bit before he continues. “As you know, Taeyong… His injury?”
I nod my head against his chest. “I know…” I whisper in response. what does that have to do with anything?
“Well… Madison, when I met with her at the cafe,” He paused, awaiting a reaction but I didn’t give one. I wanted to hear him out. He continues, “She moved here a few months ago. It has nothing to do with me, or NCT as a whole.” He disclaims. “She’s studying abroad here for a journalist internship. She’s-”
“Get to the point,” I whisper, barely being able to hear him ramble on about her.
He places a kiss on the top of my head. “Everyone knew about Yong’s injury; the managers, the staff, even the stage crew noticed it.” I wince a bit at the thought of Taeyong having to deal with this kind of injury. “You were busy with studies and I didn’t want you worrying about me or the boys. I vented to Madison about it. She explained that she had ties to news sources that could have exposed SM for overworking him. So…” He sighs, “She threatened SM. Unless they gave us all a break or hiatus, she threatened to report it to national broadcasting stations.”
“Wait-” I interrupt him, the puzzle pieces finally fitting together in my head.
“Let me finish.” He cuts me off in return. “I wanted to treat her to coffee while she was still in town, as a thank you. Nothing more. Because of her, me and the boys were able to finally get a break and Taeyong is finally getting rest.” He explains.

I was speechless, how could I have been this stupid. I finally built up the courage to look up at him; his eyes scanning my face for a reaction.
“I’m sorry.” It’s all I can mutter out in my state of embarrassment. “I’m sorry.”
“No, it’s ok. I promised to be transparent about this stuff and instead I hid it from you. I’m in the wrong too. I’m sorry.” He replies, softly. His hands trailed up and down my back.
I look into his eyes again, begging for forgiveness without saying a single word. He got the hint and leaned in to press a soft peck to my lips.
“I love you,” I said, my lips brushing against his as our foreheads rested on each other.
He smiles before kissing me back. “I love you, too.”
“So, she means nothing?” The sudden, whispered, inquiry was cold in the quiet air.
There was a pause, a moment that I nearly regretted asking.
“She means nothing.” He said, his voice was gruff and direct.
“Then prove it.” The words rolled off my tongue, and before I had time to think, Johnny’s lips were pressed back up against mine.

GRAFIC LUCY
April 26, 1953
On April 26, 1953, Lucille Ball appeared on the cover of the Chicago Sunday Tribune’s Grafic Magazine. Inside, the article is titled “Lucille and Desi. $8,000,000 TV Stars” by Hedda Hopper.
The photo on the cover is very similar to one that also appeared on this 1954 issue of Dell’s “I Love Lucy” comics. It is likely the phots were taken at the same time during the same photo shoot.

LUCILLE BALL, and Desi Arnaz. in their wildest dreams during their upsies and downsies, never imagined that one day they - a couple of strolling players - would be signed to a two-and-a-half year television contract for $8,000,000.
That's a heap of cash in any man's language, and in American money it's like finding the Glory Hole gold mine or stubbing your toe in your own back yard and starting an oil gusher. For actors to sign that kind of contract it's a Disney fantasy come to life.
Lucy has used a lot of gold dust in her hair, but she's certain now that Peter Pan came to life and covered her from head to toe with pixie dust. But, being Lucy, her one comment after signing the fabulous deal with her TV sponsors was: "It couldn't happen to a nicer pair of kids. I mean our two children, of course."
And those kids are as famous as their ma and pa. All over America last January, second in news importance to Ike Eisenhower's inauguration, was the birth of Lucille Ball's baby boy. The interest in the big event was fantastic. Tho they've been kicking around Hollywood for a long time, Lucille and Desi have grown into an American Institution in two years via TV. They've received more than fifty awards; their names have become household words.
I was In Washington for the in inauguration, when Desidero [sp] Arnaz was born.
I’d like to straighten out one point. Lucy didn't have her baby by caesarean to please her sponsors. The operation was necessary. She had her first child by the same process, and since the caesarean operation could be set for a definite date, the birth was worked into the script of the show. The writers took full advantage of it. Since the show deals with an average couple, the pre-natal period reflected that of millions who have, or were having, babies. And to make sure that nothing in poor taste crept in, the Amazes had a Catholic priest a Jewish rabbi, and a Protestant minister check each script.
Lucy wanted a boy, and her doctor told her she'd have one. "I didn't pay any attention to his prediction," says Lucy. "He told me my first baby would be a boy, too. So I had a girl."
Their show sticks to real life situations and mirrors the trials, tribulations, and fun of marriages enjoyed by millions of average men and women.
Desi credits the success of the show to that fact "Its an average love story with humor," he explains. "Audiences believe I'm in love with Lucy, and I am. Lucy ' could be a straight dramatic show. In fact, I think there's no really good comedy that couldn't be turned into drama. I believe the average man gets a kick out of Ricky (the name he uses on the show), because he somehow always manages to dominate the woman, tho the victory is not great. Women love Lucy since she gets by with things they'd like to do, but wouldn't dare try."
A fan wrote Desi: "I used to think my wife was crazy. But after following Lucy, I'm convinced all women are that way, so I'm reconciled to my wife's behavior."
Desi is proud of the fact that he and Lucy help many couples in distress. “Lucille and I used to fight a lot," says he. "Then we discovered a sense of humor about situations that came up at home. We learned to live together and like it just as Ricky and Lucy do on the show. In real life, we still have our differences, but we never go to bed without speaking. We may have a peeve between us, but one of us will always say, 'All right What are you mad about? ' That either settles It or starts a real battle, which gets the beef off our chests."
I wanted to know how much Lucy and Ricky resembled the real life Amazes.
"A lot" Desi laughed. "For example, we can never agree on the temperature of our home. I like it hot Lucy wants it cold. We put that In the show. For television the characters have to be exaggerated for the sake of comedy. But sometimes situations come up at home that give our writers ideas. For instance, our baby. Writing him into the script was completely natural. We knew what happened to couples expecting a baby."
“It was the first nine-months' pregnancy that lasted only seven weeks," said Lucy, meaning that the baby business was only on seven programs.
“And neither of our writers, Madeline Pugh and Bob Carroll Jr., is married," said Desi.
"But they know whereof they write," said Lucy. "Within three weeks after the baby was born, we received 20,000 letters, 2,000 telegrams, and hundreds of packages.”
"How many products do you indorse?" [sp] I asked.
"It's easier to tell you what we haven't indorsed, [sp]" said Lucy. "We haven't indorsed [sp] locomotives or aircraft. We have art office now on 5th Avenue in New York just to handle merchandising."
I asked how much money they could keep from their $8,000,000 contract.
"About four dollars and fifty-five cents," said Desi. "In the dear old days before taxes we could have retired for life In one year. But the government needs money. We're not complaining. Lucy doesn't have much business sense anyway. When it comes time to pay taxes, she doesn't bother trying to get exemptions. She just says, 'Bring me the check, and I'll sign it.'
"And you're still expanding instead of cutting down?" I asked.
"Yes," said Desi. "I put in 10 hours daily at my office."
"I don't bother with business," said Lucy. “That's Desi's department."
“We've got over a hundred people working for us now," said Desi. "We'll do 32 television films a year, and I'm getting a man to take over the business management so I can devote more time to the creative phase of our work. We. plan to produce other shows. Then there are pictures."
"I'm happy you two are going to make 'The Long, Long Trailer,' " I said.
"That," said Desi, "is a dream. I read the book and tried to buy it But I didn't have the money to compete with Metro. So Pandro Berman called me up and asked if Lucy and I would be interested in reading the script I told him sure, to send it over. And It was 'Long, Long Trailer.”
"It's a honey," added Lucy. "I once lived with my family in a trailer. It was all right until we all got claustrophobia. That's bad enough when you get it alone, but when it hits a whole family at the same time whew!"
"We can make pictures any time we like," said Desi "But we'll concentrate on television. But if either Lucy or I wants to do a movie, we can always pile up a backlog of TV films that will tide us over."
"I'm not particularly interested in going back to movies," said Lucy. "TV is my dish. We don't see a script at least I don't until 10 o'clock Monday morning. On Tuesday, we read from 10 to 12, then lunch. After that we start shooting. The writers usually aren't even on the set If I don't understand something, either the producer, Jess Oppenheimer, or our director, Bill Asher, explains it to me. We work four days and rest three. You cant do that in picture-making.”
"Incidentally, Desi's malapropisms aren't written into the script. The script is written in straight English. But If Desi butchers the King's English during a rehearsal, it stays in."
"Bill Frawley and Vivian Vance are wonderful additions to your cast," I said.
"We were lucky to get them," said Lucy. "When Bill's name was mentioned, I almost dropped dead. He was a big star and we couldn't afford him. But somebody said it wouldn't hurt to try to get him. Remember this was two years ago; and everybody here was scoffing at TV. Nobody knew."
People didn't know many things. For years I've watched Lucy's work and considered her one of our finest comediennes. She has versatility and great timing. But nobody gave her break. Tho he'd done several pictures, Hollywood just couldn't see Desi for dust. He had to make a living with his band, and this put him on the road for long periods. Result: "I Love Lucy."
"When we got the idea for the show, people said audiences wouldn't accept us as husband-and-wife team," said Lucy. "They didn't think audiences would believe that a girl like me and a Cuban like Desi could be married. I remember telling you this, Hedda, and you yelled back, 'But for Pete's sake, you' are married!'".
Because the Amazes finally decided to portray life as they found It regardless of how dizzy it was, they found their way of life, says Lucy. "If you have a hunch, back it," is Lucy's advice.

Med Series Rewatch (#12)
S3 E12: Born This Way.
Episode description: Dr. Manning and Dr. Choi are faced with a tough decision.
Literally when are they not.
Okay, last episode ended with the first Ava/Connor kiss, so this episode should be a rollercoaster of emotions.
let’s get into it.
- okay, already we’re starting in connor’s apartment, so cue ava walking in bc they slept together?
- i think its hilarious that her casual clothing is.. a flannel. like lmao idk
- it is so unbelievably funny and stupid to have a one night stand with someone you work closely with. i mean come on
- never forget that dr. ava bekker has a fish tank
- this is exhausting. the tentative back and forth is so fucking exhausting
- another bit of evidence. ava is never not confident, and especially not to this extent, and she never follows connor’s lead. so, the fact that she is standing back and waiting for him to make the decision? stupid.
- it screams that she is having a moment of anxiety, which is why she isn’t up to make the decisions in the exchange.
-to be clear: what i’m claiming here is that the only reason ava actually got with connor was bc she was having a moment of anxiety because he was the only person she had built a relationship with after living in this city for six months.
- when connor says that he has plans you can see her fold in on herself. this stems from a place of anxiety
- remember when they did surgery on the panda? that’s when the show peaked
- ava in her lab coat will never not get me. especially with the gloves, running towards a patient (very hot)
- connor still looks kinda looks like a mess but ava is immaculate here like what dude out of your league
- ava asking the family questions (ik this is standard doctor stuff but showing worry, interest, all that jazz)
- okay, see here! here! ava calls connor out, saying that his procedure is too invasive. before, ava’s procedures where invasive, which everyone used as evidence to her being super cold, but now, we see that she purely does what she deems best for the patient at hand
- also, once again, the concern ava feels. you can hear it in her voice. we forget this part of her way too often
- the smile on ava’s face when she gives the family good news. god wept
- and then more concern when connor tells her they need to put him on ecmo
- the reason that ava is frustrated that connor didn’t go with her decision for their patient care is because she truly believes that if they don’t go with her treatment, he will die. don’t make it anything different. don’t argue she’s frustrated because he’s not listening to her. don’t make it anything about their relationship. she puts their patients care first and foremost
- there’s a stark shift in her demeanor when in the room with the parents vs. her alone with connor. in the room, you can see she’s stewing. she’s sucking on her teeth, she’s holding her emotions. she has control, she’s a professional. out of the room, she has full reign to be as mad with connor as she wants, which she does.
-AVA RAN INTO THE ROOM AGAIN WITH THE LAB COAT AND GLOVES AND IDK IT JUST HAS ME FEELING SOME KINDA WAY
- the way ava acknowledges everyone in the room (the nurse just informed them that the drug was running, ava nodded. just a little thing but yk)
- ava shaking her head at this sad, sad man (connor, who is floundering for a solution and misplacing his anger)
- their entire relationship is misplaced anger
- the fact that the last shot of the scene has connor in the foreground looking over the bed and ava watching from the door but ava is the one in focus - some cool cinematography points
- IS THIS THE EPISODE WHERE MAGGIE GOES TO JAIL
- med really went all over the place
- JUST THE AMOUNT OF CONCERN ON AVA’S FACE. im gonna say it again. look me in the eyes and tell this women is a psychopath. the med writers are fucking insane
- and when the parents ask ava if she disagreed with connor’s treatment decision, she has every opportunity (and right, frankly) to throw him under the bus and undermine him. but still, she says “it’s a complicated situation.” like. she never ever makes it personal, or loses her head. especially not to a patient. and she doesn’t have to defend connor. he’s made a lot of mistakes, and taken it out on her a bunch of times. yet she’s still nice to him, when he’s not even in the room
- it’s insane
- this is also the legendary scene where she comforts the family. there’s not a lot that i haven’t already said. this is the scene that most exemplifies ava’s humanity, the way she seems to feel, at least residually, what these parents are going through (since she obviously hasn’t gone through anything like this herself [unless.]). the way she kneels down, and gets on the family’s personal level.
- I... okay listen. I absolutely HATE the parallel they pull her between the line “I believe whenever you do something out of love, it can never really be wrong” and connor. especially because they show him when she says that line. and yeah, there’s obviously a connection that can be drawn between the meaning of that line and her sociopathic behavior in s4 and s5.
- it honestly feels like when writing s4, the writers hit so much of a wall they just googled the most ‘iconic’ ava moments and thought ‘how can i use these in the worst way possible?’ That’s honestly probably what they did (ava’s first interaction with connor - ‘you better watch yourself,’ this moment). There is no nuance to her character in s4. it is astoundingly terrible.
- lets move on
- THE WAY CONNOR LOOKS AT AVA HER MAKES ME FUCKING SCARED. HE HAS NO EMOTION ON HIS FACE. I know that we’ve been screen capping ava throughout this series but can someone find pictures of connor looking at ava bc, i need yall to remember how weird he looks
- like, no shade to connor, but just the emotion is undecipherable, but it is in no way a good one
- ava getting concerned (and looking slightly embarrassed) when she sees connor watching her by the door. obviously yeah she’s gonna feel weird you just caught her in a very uncharacteristic moment, outwardly expressing comfort. fucking back off
- i am so fucking protective of her and i demand he no longer look at her. it’s banned
- sam abrams looking at sarah’s dad’s head ct and asking if he’s a criminal. oh boy
- from a writer’s perspective, the storyline with sarah’s dad is actually pretty good
- ava ran into the room with gloves and lab coat again, if anybody wanted to know
- for the record, want it to be noted, ava was the one who realized that it was an issue with the machine again, so you could say she fixed connor’s mistake, again. so.
- connor making a big deal about handing the reins over to ava (if he really was selfless he wouldn’t have made a whole big thing, he still has an enormous hero complex)
- handing off control was very hard for him. boo hoo get some fucking humility I think they sell it at walgreens
- sarah fucking walking across the ed like she’s going to war. dramatic
- med really said pedophiles deserve rights with this ep huh
- anyway
- the way ava smiles
- the way she smiles when she turns him down. CAN WE TALK ABOUT THAT? SHE TURNED HIM DOWN. in the aspect of the story i cannot remember why she turned him down, but hey, i’m happy
- and it only further proves my story that the hook up came from a place of anxiety, and this is her realizing how silly that decision was. and her smiling was her laughing at herself for making such a stupid decision
- ALSO. LET’S TALK ABOUT THE FACT THAT THIS DECISION, THE DECISION TO TURN HIM DOWN, HAPPENED IN THE SAME EPISODE WHERE SHE SAID ‘IF YOU DO SOMETHING FOR LOVE, IT’S NEVER REALLY WRONG’
- like she literally says ‘last night was a mistake.’
- honestly, it’s fucking hilarious. connor deserves nothing
- and the confusion on his face when she walks away. hilarious
- if you wanted to take this the reesker route you could argue that the idea of ‘a decision of love’ was ava coming to terms with her slight little crush, though i don’t know how clean it would be if you argue that she panicked and told herself those were feelings meant for connor. idk, i’ll have to think about it further
- watching sarah let herself be betrayed by both herself and the people around in the story surrounding her dad will never not be hard to watch
This was a very good episode, character wise, for all the reasons stated above. It just hammers home the point of how strong a character Ava was. Key word, of course, being ‘was’. My conclusion over the last two episodes is that this specific sexual encounter with Connor was born out of a moment of anxiety from Ava. I suggest that over that last few weeks or days she has been experiencing some amount of anxiety out of having been living in Chicago for six months and only having one interpersonal relationship. So, that idea kind of built where she told herself the reason she only had one relationship was because she was in love with him. Then. after going through the story with this kid and comforting his parents, she realizes that she never actually loved Connor and maybe has a thing for someone else. I’m glad that I keep coming up with more ideas for this character, I was afraid the initial theory was somewhat of a one-off, but this only proves the idea of the complexity to Ava’s character.
I’m sure it’ll get worse from here, though.

The elevator door dinged open as you stepped out. Books tightly gripped in your arms, ready for the interview of your life.
You saw on the news about that Dr. Shaun Murphy who changed the medical field forever. He has autism, and so do you. Yours is not on the level of Shaun’s but still Shaun made a difference in the world you lived in. He made it possible for people like you.
As a young girl you always wanted to be a doctor but when you learned you had autism all those dreams died. Until you saw how capable you were to do this, to become what you wanted. You kept going forward and did not listen to those who kept bringing you down. And now you were here, about to do an interview for the San Jose St. Bonaventure Hospital. You were ready.
Your heels clicked on the floor, you walked with a stride, in pride. You quickly looked at yourself in the mirror, making sure you looked presentable.
You smiled at your reflection and breathed out, “here we go y/n. You are about to change your life.”
As you walked in the room you spotted the President, Chief, and Chairman of the hospital. “Good evening, I am y/n l/n, and I am asking for a job here.”
“Yes I got the job!” You screamed into the phone to your long time friend. You were currently sitting in the cafeteria telling the great news to people close to you.
“Great job y/n! When will you be working?” Asked your friend. You chuckled and stood up to grab your coffee that was resting on the table in front of you. “Tomorrow actually, that’s when I get to meet the staff and kinda see my place in this but I am so excited!”
“I’m happy for you y/n.”
Just then you spotted the one and only Shaun Murphy with a quick reply you told your friend, “okay, let me call you back something came up.” You hanged up the phone and walked to Shaun.
“Um hello there, Shaun is it?” You smiled to Shaun, Shaun looked at you and clasped his hands together. “I do not think we have met.”
“No we have not. I’m new, my name is y/n l/n. Can I say what an inspiration you are to me-”
“Oh yes I have now heard of you. You are the new doctor, Dr. Melendez does not like you.”
You paused at your words and shook your head, “what?”
“Dr. Melendez does not want someone else on his team with autism. But I think he is being rude. It is nice to see someone else with autism.” Shaun looked somewhere else and waited patiently in the line.
“Well yes Shaun you are right that is rude, well then I guess I’ll just have to change his mind. Man news travels fast around here, but I wanted to talk to you about that. Shaun you have changed the way doctors look at people with autism, they now know that people like you and me are capable of greater things. I just wanted to say thank you.”
Shaun smiled and looked at you, “I just really wanted to be a doctor.”
You giggled back and brought out your wallet, “what you havin Shaun?”
“Chocolate chip pancakes, they are my favorite.”
“Here,” you and Shaun went to the front of the line, “I’ll pay.”
You and Shaun talked all through his break and you had to say he was so much fun. You understood him and felt a connection with Shaun. You felt you were going to fit in just right.
That is until you met Dr. Melendez.
Standing in the changing room you feel accomplished. You were doing this! Opening the door you inspected the way you looked in the mirror. Approving of the attire you then put on your watch. The moment you’ve been waiting for is now here. You delicately placed the white doctors coat on your shoulders, you fix it a little bit and then look in the mirror.
“Look at you y/n, I am so proud of me,” you smiled and smoothed down the coat.
“Oh hello there,” said a sweet voice. You turned around seeing a woman. You became bashful, hoping she didn’t hear you talking to yourself.
“Hi, names y/n l/n. Yours?” You asked sticking out your hand to hers.
“Claire Browne, and yes you are the new girl. Well we’re glad to have you here. I’m excited for you.”
“Thanks, unfortunately though Shaun told me that a certain Dr. Melendez doesn’t really want me here.”
Claire placed a hand on your shoulder, “don’t worry about him, he’s like that. He’ll warm up to you, I just know it.”
“Hey what are we ladies talking about?” Another doctor woman came in, smiling to Claire and then pausing with you. “You the new one? Y/n l/n?”
You nodded, “that’s me! Nice to meet you Dr. Audrey Lim. I have heard so many great things about you.” You shook her hand and gushed about her reputation.
“Ooh seems like someones done their research,” Audrey raised her eyebrows, going to her locker.
“Hi names Morgan Reznick, I know your name you don’t have to tell me. Let me just say to not trust everyone on here. And with Melendez you need to up your game if you don’t he will drop you. My suggestion, be better than everyone.” A doctor with blonde hair sneered at you. She smiled with a fake smile as she walked away full of confidence
“Who was that?” You questioned, still shocked someone talked to you that way.
Audrey just shrugged, “that my friend is Dr. Morgan Reznick. She can be nice, when you’re lucky.”
Feeling now nervous and scared you wonder if the group will like you. You came in this all confident in yourself but now you just questioned everything.
“Oh Jared’s waiting for me outside, I’m gonna go get him,” Claire said announced while reading her text messages.
You all waved to her and proceeded with the morning.
You made good friends already in that one day with Audrey and Claire. They also introduced you to Dr. Jared Kalu and Dr. Alex Park. They both were so kind to you, saying that they did appreciate your braveness. They also knew about your autism, but they made it clear to you the minute they saw you that it did not define you. They still treated you with respect and kindness.
“So y/n, have you ever had hands on experiences?” Alex asked, the group that you made friends with walking with you.
“Yeah I once saved this mother in Africa who her baby had a nuchal cord. The baby was dying and we had very limited resources so I did what was necessary and saved the mother and the child.”
“I feel she knows what she is doing,” Shaun popped out of nowhere, apparently listening to the conversation.
“Well thanks Shaun, I just knew I needed to save those two. But I’ve had more.”
“Thats cool you go to places like Africa, have you gone anywhere else?” Jared asked, also reading the ipad.
“Actually I have, I have worked in places like Mexico, Russia, more places where the hospitals are not the greatest there. They are poor or need some help.”
“Did you tell any of those people in the places you visited that you had autism?” Morgan gave you a smirk, raising her eyebrows.
“No, no I did not. I don’t usually tell people because then they won’t let me perform or do surgery on a patient.”
You all turned the corner and your eyes made contact with a very handsome doctor. The first thing you noticed was his tattoo. It was creeping a little out of his shirt.
“I didn’t know we we’re having a party?” He said sarcastically, meaning he didn’t want you all to continue on talking.
Jared coughed in his hand, trying to say that there was a new person here. The handsome doctor looked to you and crossed his arms. “Who are you?”
“I’m the new doctor, y/n l/n. You must be Dr. Melendez. Pleasure to meet you,” you stuck your hand out but Melendez did not take it. He instead placed his hand on your shoulder and brought his lips to your ear. “Don’t think this will be easy, you’ll have to earn the respect and earn your way to the top.”
Unable to form words and wanting to still be respectful you laughed and just looked everywhere.
“Claire, y/n and Jared, you guys are going to be working with me today. Lets see how good y/n can do.”
Claire placed a reassuring hand on your back and gave you a warm smile. “He’s like this in the beginning.”
You looked down and tried to push his hurtful comment away but it just kept hurting you. It made you feel useless. With a strong attitude you straightened your posture and walked with maturity.
“What are we working on doctor?”
That day your team had to work on a heart transplant. The woman, named Elena, her heart was too big for her body. You felt awkward in the room because you felt you weren’t allowed to say anything.
“And whats wrong with you? Can’t talk?” Elena asked, putting her hands out.
As you were about to say something Melendez stuck his hand on your back and chuckled, “Ella es nueva (she is new).”
Scratching your head you whispered into Neil’s ear as to what he said. He just brushed it off. What was odd was you liked Dr. Melendez Spanish. It was sexy to you.
The old woman just laughed and nodded, “I understand.”
Bringing the woman to the surgery room you thought you were at least going to make incisions on her. Instead, your mean boss made you just use the surgical pump. Feeling like you were dumb you stood there, angry.
“Y/n if you don’t lighten up I would quickly advise you to get out of my surgery room.” Melendez said, paying attention to the monitor.
“Right, no got it 100 percent Doc,” sarcastic words dripped from your mouth before you even thought what you said.
Melendez gave you a look of, “don’t try me.”
It was like that for a couple of months. You were only used for that one thing. At night your mind raced with thoughts of this wasn’t for you. You thought maybe you weren’t meant for this job. Feeling more and more down about your days in the hospital you would go to seek guidance, or just have a fun chat with your friends. Being best friends with Claire Browne was the best. She made you feel happy and worth while when you talked and hanged out with her. You also hanged out with Shaun. You understood him the most and when he was having his episodes when he just was frustrated you stood by him and aided him through that. Knowing how its is going through autism you knew what it meant to have those frustrated episodes. You knew how it felt to think that nobody gets you, but you were always there for Shaun.
What also made you feel grateful and at least some joy in your job was seeing patients. You met all sorts from all walks of life, different age, skin color, ethnicity, disease. You felt you were there for them and that’s what mattered to you.
Melendez was not as mean to you anymore for the months that went by but you could tell he still didn’t trust you. You tried being kind to him and you’re still sticking with that strategy.
You had many patients that you would see during lunch and after your work but one stood out to you. It was Stephanie, it was a little girl that had leukemia.
You finished your work, putting your doctor robe in the locker you walked out in your blue suit.
As you were coming out of the room you accidentally knocked into Dr. Melendez.
“Sorry, I’m in a bit of a rush. My apologies.” With a quick word you sped off down the hallway.
Neil was curious and looked back and forth, “what is she up to?”
You walked into Stephanie’s room with a present hidden behind you, “hello there sweetheart, how was your day?”
“It was perfect and just great,” she said sarcastically. “But its great now that you’re here.”
You embraced her and kissed her hairless head. Her blue emerald eyes just looked at you with happiness. “Me too Steph, my days great just because I am seeing you.”
Dr. Melendez heard you and someone else talking, he ran to see what the commotion was. What sight he saw! It was something so beautiful! You were talking to a little girl with cancer. He saw how tender and affectionate you were to that little girl. It made his heart race for you and finally he saw that even though you were not like Shaun you are you. You were meant to be working as a doctor. Neil just stood there and watched the conversation, feeling a smile creep up on his face.
“I got you something,” you said excitedly. “Here.” Handing her favorite animal which was a unicorn made her squeal and jump up and down. She hugged the plush so hard and kissed it with many kisses.
“Oh thank you y/n, thank you so much!”
“Of course sweetheart. Now do you have the goodies?”
Stephanie eyes opened wide and nodded fast, “here is yours y/n.” She got a space helmet made from soft fabric that you made for her. Hers was blue and yours was gray. You then put on the tv a space show you and her love to watch.
“Now,” Stephanie asked this time. “Do you have the goods?”
You and her laughed and you patted her arm. “Of course silly, I always remember to bring them.” You brought out marshmallows the mini ones to be exact, those were her favorite.
“Yes!!!!! I love marshmallows,” she cheered out loud. As she looked up she saw Neil though. “Oh hello there, would you also like some marshmallows?”
You turned around to see who Stephanie was talking to and as you saw Dr. Melendez you quickly stood up. “I am sorry sir, forgive me I was just wanting to play with-”
Neil put his hand out to shush you and laughed, actually laughed in front and because of you. “You look awesome in that.” He pointed to your space helmet. You looked down and giggled as well, “Um Doctor, would you like some marshmallows?”
“Neil, and sure. What are we watching?”
Melendez sat next to you through out the whole thing. He laughed with you and even touched you a little. It made you start to have feelings for him. He was actually very funny. He even made Stephanie laugh.
The night sky was pitch black but there were a few stars in tonight.
Melendez offered to walk you to your car after Stephanie fell asleep and during your guys walk you had conversations about many things.
“Seeing you with that little girl made me feel very proud of you. As a doctor you try to just make sure your patients are safe physically but sometimes we need to help them emotionally. You did that with that little girl.”
“Thank you Neil,” you smiled to him. “I just try to understand our patients. I want to make sure that they know that we are here for them. I love making people laugh and hearing their chuckles, I want to make them feel loved.” You expressed yourself for the first time, genuinely to Dr. Melendez.
“Good job y/n. I can see that you are to be trusted more and for that I’m sorry for being so harsh to you. I was just-”
“Worried about your patients. I just hope this makes you have more of an open mind. But I am ready for whatever you have to put on me. I can take it.”
Neil nodded his head, “Hard worker, I like it.”
“Well this is me,” you stopped by your car. “See you tomorrow...Neil.” You grinned widely.
Melendez nodded and walked away but then he ran back to you. “Wait! How about tomorrow you come over for dinner, my place?”
You walked closer to him, inching closer and closer until your lips met. It was a short kiss but it was sexy. You licked your lips and winked at Neil, “sure yes, of course. Can’t wait!”
Neil eyed you up and down, knowing you were not to be messed with, “Good well see you there.”
“Bye,” you waved to him while getting in the car. You couldn’t wait for tomorrow and you felt you were finally getting somewhere with him. As you drove away from the hospital all you thought of was that kiss and how giddy and happy you felt. You were excited for the future.

First Night Back in Fuuga Ch 32: The Ground Has Shifted

Summary: Yona, Hak, and Soo-Won try to acclimate to their new relationships to the palace
“You have remarkable observation skills,” though Ik-Soo isn’t watching Soo-Won as he says this.
Instead, Ik-Soo sits adjacent to this foreign visitor whom Kija brought back to his village. Both Ik-Soo and Soo-Won watch forward from an outdoor table where they’ve been having lunch as the villagers celebrate Kija’s return out on the lawn before them.
“Oh?” Soo-Won asks innocently with a hand scratching behind his head, then a little seriously, “I’m beginning to see you and I have some things in common.”
Ik-Soo doesn’t react, just stares forward with peace in those eyes that no one can see, “I won’t pretend we’re not in Kouka. Even if they weren’t throwing a festival for Kija, you would have easily connected this was once his home.”
“After the shoes,” Soo-Won glances down at the handwoven straw sandals on his feet, “My expectations for you to be forward were low. I’m impressed.”
“Expectations are a dangerous thing to hold.”
Soo-Won takes a deep breath. A little blonde boy beams as he chases two friends, then turns in pause when he sees Soo-Won’s harrowed expression watching him. Soo-Won closes his eyes at the painful, nostalgic feelings at war inside him.
“In patience we gain strength,” Ik-Soo encourages.
“Whatever it is you’re trying to achieve with me… I don’t believe in the same things you do, Priest.”
Ik-Soo is unmoved, “And yet in your heart you’re desperate to comprehend how she with a single look could make your heart stop and freeze your feet to the ground as though you had become a statue.”
Soo-Won snaps his head over to look at Ik-Soo, but the priest has already risen and started walking away. How did he…? Ik-Soo trips over nothing, then rises with a friendly wave to the children that he’s really OK.
Soo-Won again stares at his sandals -- hard, then rises and follows after Ik-Soo.
The once and still king walks with a slight limp due to his healing wounds, but he catches right up.
“Where are you going?”
“To pray.”
Soo-Won sighs, “May I leave with them? The dragons. Or am I intended to be a captive here? I don’t wish to stay in this place. I need to go back.”
Ik-Soo continues down a path into the woods along a river, “You need air. I think you’re missing the big picture.”
“Your foolish philosophies are getting us nowhere.”
“They got us right here,” Ik-Soo stops and gestures around at the foliage.
“This is the very definition of nowhere.”
Ik-Soo as casually as ever, “Until you are able to see beyond, you won’t be able to find your way back.”
“Did you not just moments ago compliment my ability to observe?”
“Ah, yes, you’re brilliant.”
Soo-Won throws a hand to his forehead. This man is an idiot.
“But you overlook almost everything.”
“Pardon?”
“You’ve existed in a very small world, Soo-Won. On details that pertain to it, you are incredibly focused. But until you let go of your obsession with all that you had and knew, your world will stay the same. I think it’s probably a very painful place to be right now. Why not come on a walk outside instead? It’s beautiful out here.”
Ik-Soo begins walking again. Soo-Won calls after in frustration.
“You’re wasting both of our time and putting the princess in danger. I need to speak with her. She and Hak must be to the palace by now. There are things there that--”
“The princess will not be harmed.”
“We don’t know that,” and yet as Soo-Won begins to follow once more, he finds himself questioning whether Ik-Soo actually could know that… maybe even feeling relief if he did, “How did you know… about the way she looked at me?”
Ik-Soo stops and sits at the edge of a pool of water the river gently spills over into. Soo-Won joins beside him.
“I once served at the palace, many years ago.”
Only the sound of the water.
“I understand you know what that means.”
“I told you that I, too, do not believe in what you do,” Soo-Won clarifies, fully understanding now they are also speaking about his father Yu-Hon and when he threw all the priests out of the palace.
Ik-Soo again is not visibly discouraged, “Faith is a personal journey -- I have no business on yours. I’m simply here to help you. There are things that happened at the palace at that time that I will reveal to you. You can decide on your own to trust my words or not.”
Soo-Won stares at this man… suddenly not wanting to be somewhere else. Just here -- listening.
“You’ll have to earn each one.”
Soo-Won receives those words with dread. He hasn’t sat still this long since he can remember. He feels like jumping out of his skin already. And he needs to talk to her. It’s all he’s been thinking about. That and the pain.
“Then after all has been revealed… what exactly? I’ll know something I didn’t before and you’ll let me leave?”
“You’ll see. Patience.”
Soo-Won stares forward over the calm water and wonders about how quickly he can draw the secrets from this man. How quickly he can get back to Yona to warn her.
“Min-Soo!” Yona throws her arms around her old friend at the door. She turns back toward her room, “Look -- Hak, it’s like old times!”
“Well…” Hak watches Min-Soo nearly fall over from Yona’s hug -- he’s clearly still healing from his wound.
Yona brightly continues, “We were just about to head out. Can we help you with something?”
“General Joo-Doh sent me to find you. When you weren’t in the King’s chambers, he got pretty rattled.”
Hak sighs, “You can tell General Joo-Doh we survived the night without him hovering over us. And we’ll be sleeping in this room from now on. He’s not invited.”
Min-Soo’s cheeks go a little pink, “Of course.”
“Hey,” Hak calls after, freezing Min-Soo mid-turn, “It’s good to see you.”
After a returning smile, Min-Soo disappears.
Hak and Yona walk down the hall together and it’s a little weird because they’re side by side -- which they most often weren’t in the palace before -- and not touching -- which is rare of them anywhere lately. So with a bite of her lower lip, Yona sneaks a hand across and grabs Hak’s. When his wry smile creeps up, she glows.
“Kyo-Ga came already. He’d like to speak with me about coronation.”
“Whatever you said at camp seemed to really work with that guy. If he had the power, I’d say he’d put a crown on your head right here.”
“To be honest, it makes me a little uncomfortable.”
“I’m glad. Me, too.”
“I trust him. I just think… sometimes we can’t even trust ourselves if we let our ambitions get ahead of us.”
“With all the generals, they’re capable of being great men if you lead them well.”
“Actually…”
Hak pauses to sit on a bench under an arch for this one, “Did you know this was one of my favorite napping spots?”
“No… that’s really irrelevant, Hak.”
“I’m asking you not to ruin my memory of this spot with whatever you’re about to stay.”
“You’re so mean, Hak! I’m going to say something… good.”
He raises his eyebrows in suspicion, “OK Princess, go on…”
“We’ve been discussing who to appoint as the new Water Tribe general. I’ve decided. Just as we agreed that I should be involved leading the generals because of my unique contributions in peace and negotiation, I think that Lili should become a general because of her bravery, open-minded views on how things are done, and how much her tribe respects her.”
Hak scratches his chin and considers, “That’s all true, though it’s hard to get past that she doesn’t fight.”
“I know. I’ve already thought about it and… well, you taught me. Maybe Wind warriors have a knack for that? If she spent some time with Tae-Woo, he could train her which would mean he’d spend more time at the palace. I’m sure she could teach him some things, as well.”
Hak sighs, “He’s not gonna like that. At all. But she’s loyal to you and that means a lot to me. As it is, I’m already gonna have my hands full figuring out who’s not loyal and still in the Sky Tribe.”
That sentiment affects Yona more than she expects. She stiffens… “Now that I think about it, maybe we should wait to see a doctor? Who knows what could spread before the coronation.”
There’s a pain in Hak’s expression as he looks up at her, holding her hand in his, “I hate this.”
“Once Mundok is here, he’ll know what to do.”
Hak kisses the top of her sweet hand, “OK. ...then I think you have some dragons to go see.”
Yona smiles great big, but-- “You’re not coming with?”
“I’ll be right behind you,” Hak smiles back up at Yona to calm her, “There’s something I need to do first.”
She nods, then, “I can’t wait to stuff you all full of delicious things at lunch!”
“Palace food -- that I have missed,” Hak confesses.
Yona leans forward and they kiss gently, deeply for a long heartfelt moment before Yona pulls back with happy eyes, reluctantly drops his hand, and heads down the hall toward the other loves of her life.
Hak watches after her wondering if he can even let himself allow her to walk to their room on her own. ...he rises and follows at a distance -- the answer is no, no he can’t.

So, Im broke and I know its a really awful idea to drive without car insurance, but Im a little unclear about what the rules actually are. Ok, so I got a speeding ticket. I'm 19, am a Californian resident but got ticketed for doing 96 in a 65 zone on the highway. I took a drivers education class immediately the week after, but I have a court date next week on Monday, the violation is a 6 point traffic offense as per the ticket. This is my first offense of any type. I am a good student, I ended up speeding because it was the end of the first week of school and I felt good, that was very stupid. Ok, So I have insurance through UAIC. I was not aware till the research i've done they are the biggest losers in the business. Here's my issue, my car was vandalized on november 12 of this year. I have full coverage insurance. Prior to insurance, we agreed to have photos taken by the local insurance so they can note any problem.. Car clear perfect which it was. No a scratch, ding or dent showroom conidition I would say at the time. I filed the claim the same day of the 12th of November. It took them 2weeks just to come estimate the car, estimate was 1500 and let me tell you. My smallest quote was 2900$ so immediately I was a little worried about it. Well I finally got a call back today on december 13th. Telling me the insurance estimator for them said the car had prior wear and tear. Hey everyone, I am a 16 year old who runs a photography business in Nashville, TN. I have been saving up for a car for the last 7 years, originally for a BMW M3 or Audi S5. I have amassed about $25,500 to spend on the car, and have a steady income to pay for insurance and gas. There was a recent question asking whether it would be safe to give a child like myself a car like the M3 or the Nissan GTR. However, I feel as though such a generalized statement is grossly inappropriate. I feel that responsibility in an automobile should fully be determined by ones own experience and responsibility, as opposed to strictly ones age. For example, I have shifter cart racing experience, have taken multiple high performance driving courses from some of the best. (Truly recommend Bondurant's program BTW). I have over a 4.0 GPA, and am editor and director of an online magazine and our school's paper. I make a decent wage from a job and business that I created myself, and have learned marketing and advertising from some of the best in the field (anyone heard of the oldspice commercials?). My own determination has lead to success and my ability to reward myself with a highly exclusive and phenomonal driving machine. On the other hand, no one would doubt the maturity or ability of a man thrice my age attempting to buy the same vehicle, who had never driven on a track, who had never used ABS, and who had never learned the evasive driving techniques necessary to driving such an automobile. Herein lies the problem. In the previous discussion on this same topic, the driving of a GTR by someone my own age was likened to handing someone like myself a loaded .44 Magnum. However, this in itself is a stereotype. I am a nationally ranked rifle competitor who knows how to build, much less safely use, a .44 Magnum. I am a member of USA Shooting and the NRA and CMP competitive shooting divisions. How is handing me a loaded .44 any less safe than handing some retired man who has never held a gun the same pistol? I am at a loss for the logic in that situation. Is my inherent danger of being 16 such a risk as to counteract my own experience and track record of responsibility? SO back to my actual question. 1.
