a/n: i haven’t properly written something in forever :/ but i’m trying i swear lol. i was also listening to Adrianne Lenker while writing this so that may have influenced this a bit.
the leaves crunch under your converses as you walk, your arms swinging loosely by your sides as you wave your hands in the breeze. you’re walking across campus to your next class, a routine you've grown fond of due to the simplicity of it all. you consider yourself a simple person, you enjoy small things like rocks and the sound of the river that flows under the bridge of your campus.
you’re also noticeably quiet, so much so that your teachers have stopped trying to get you to participate in group discussions. you don’t mind though, you’re content being by yourself.
and so is peter. he’s just as quiet as you, he always has headphones on. you can faintly hear his music, you like the fact that he likes the cranberries, you do too. but he tends to sit away from you, he doesn’t hate you, how could he? the way you skip around campus, the way you collect and paint rocks, the way you sit by the river, the way you’re so freely yourself.
his crush on you is something you’re oblivious too, and he’s too scared to even look at you. he’s read so many books on nature related topics that he might turn into a walking weed, he’s replayed a conversation with you in his head so much he could write a script about it. he wants to ask you to get coffee, he’s seen you sip coffee once or twice, maybe he’ll ask you to see a movie?
he knows you like superheroes, he sees the superman pin on your tote bag. but talking to you seems like his kryptonite, like he’ll die if he tries.
but today he’ll try, he’ll try and push past that fear and talk to you.

it’s the afternoon, you’re sitting on a bench and quietly sketching the trees in front of you. your foot lightly tapping on the grass to your music that plays softly in your headphones.
he feels like he’s being creepy, holding flowers for a person who doesn’t even know him. but he sighs and walks up to you, cringing at himself as he taps your shoulder.
“hi uhm, i’m not trying to be creepy but-“ he’s cut off by your eyes peering into his, he feels so small when you look at him with those pretty eyes.
“are those flowers?”
“for you.”
“me..?” you smile as he hands them to you, they’re some sunflowers, they’re fake, but the gesture is nice anyways. “the real ones are super expensive and uh-“
you shake your head and look up at him again. “i get it, it’s okay.” he nervously laughs, mindlessly fidgeting with his fingers.
“could i ask your name?” you reply with your name and he smiles, smiles that you trust him enough already for that. “i’m peter parker, i promise i’m a lot more composed usually.”
you laugh at the self deprecating joke.
“i’ve seen you in class.”
“well i don’t tend to turn invisible, i’ve seen you too. which is why i’m giving you flowers.”
you smile, you appreciate how nice he is and how awkward he is too. “i was- am asking you out by the way, if you’re… interested?” you nod, laughing a bit.
“well don’t laugh at me, i’m trying!” his voice is mockingly whiny as he laughs with you. “but you’re like.. okay with going on a date?” you nod again, stifling your laughter for his sake.
“how does a cafe sound?”
“i like the sound of that, I’m always in a mood for coffee.”
“when do you… wanna go?”
“tomorrow? after class?”
“holy shi- uh- yeah that’s okay.” and with that he stands there awkwardly before clearing his throat and nodding, sighing of relief. “yeah i’ll see you tomorrow! uh, i’ve gotta bounce.” you nod in response and wave him goodbye as he runs off, you can practically hear the smile in his voice.

Like Eddie, Wayne would always be the first person to call if you were in a pinch. This particular day ways like any other Friday. You going over to Eddie's trailer and spending the weekend there. You had a key to the trailer so you unlocked the door and smiled once your gaze met Wayne who was sitting on the couch eating his dinner as he prepared for his shift at the plant. "Hey Wayne!" you said happily as you walked to Eddie's room to set all your things down before heading back to him.
"Hey hun. Good day today?" he greeted and you nodded. "Yep! I passed that test I was talking to you about a few days ago." you beamed and he smiled, a small chuckle coming from him.
"See I told you. You needn't worry about it. You're a smart girl and can do anything you put your mind to." he replied which made you smile. "Eddie could take a few pointers from you." he joked before shaking his head.
"Mmm he is trying his best. He actually listens to me when I can tell he is struggling with homework. Soooo that's progress." you replied which made Wayne laugh a little.
The both of you talked about school, your plans after you graduated and minor issues at home, not that there was many but just a few things that were bugging you. Wayne as always assuring you it would all be okay and giving you the best advice he possibly could. Then the question came about. "Wayne... has Eddie ever... talked to you about his and I's future?" you asked vaguely, knowing Wayne would understand what you were asking. "Well uhh. Eddie.. He ain't
to open about things of that nature. But just looking at my nephew and how he is around you, I already consider you a part of the family. Eddie may not properly ask for maybe another year but believe you me, he will do it when he thinks you are both ready." he explained to you and you felt tears forming in your eyes before placing your face in your hands.
You were quiet for a few moments before placing your hands down, staring at his ring that used to adorn his right ring finger, which was now on yours. "Thank you Wayne, I really needed to hear that." you said before clearing your throat and walking to Eddie's bedroom. ‘Part of the family....’ you whispered to yourself with a smile.
The end of Eddie's beloved D&D campaign was after school. You swore he loved that campaign more than you sometimes. But you loved seeing him so happy so it didn’t bother you how much time he focused on it. You had a lot of homework to get done so you were a bit grateful that it happened this way. With Eddie here, you wouldn’t be able to get anything done. Eddie being your only distraction from getting anything productive done. So you sat at the small table next to the kitchen as you worked, indulging in conversation with Wayne every now and then.
A few hours went by and you heard Eddie's van pulling into the dirt road, the loud music blasting spoiling any surprise of him arriving. Eddie walked in and he smiled as his eyes met yours. "Hey" you said softly and he wrapped is arms around your waist before hugging you. It felt so safe. Perfect. Eddie pulled himself away from you a bit before waving to Wayne and he got a soft nod in response. Eddie grabbed your hand and he pulled you to his room with him. You laid in the bed beside him, Eddie unable to keep his hands off you after not seeing you since lunch at school earlier in the day. You asked him about how his campaign went and he went on a full on theatrical explanation of the events that unfolded just a few hours previous.
Eddie hummed softly as he played with your hair, causing you to look up at him. Before you knew it, both of your lips were connected. Eddie's hands exploring your clothed body as the kiss got more heated. You soon pulled away for air and looked into Eddie's eyes. You turned around and you could have screamed into the pillow. Soon turning around to meet Eddie's more than amused face, shocked to see him laughing. "See! I told you that was going to happen!" you yelled but in a hushed tone before punching Eddie's shoulder. "God you are so unbelievable!!" you whined before Eddie wrapped his arms around you, rendering you immobile. "Aww come now y/n. You know you love me." he said before peppering kisses all over your face. "You are going to be the death of me Eddie Munson." you said before leaning into his touch.

hii i just wanted to say that you rlly changed my mind about ayato,at first i didnt really care about him (probably bc his drama cds are kinda always the same? idk how to explain and the beginning of his routes are kinda weird) but looking your blog i decided to give another shot and well.. i see his value now 😭😭 he became one my favs and its bc of you

As for his routes, I have never really judged the beginning of them but if you think about this, they are unexpectedly complicated and hide a bunch of important stuff. HDB and MB felt weird at first but after finding out how he got unfairly cursed and the way everyone in his family treated him, they started making just so much sense in terms of his behavior?? I guess Ayato is probably one of those characters whose own routes aren't sufficient to learn about him and his background; you need to dig further to properly comprehend him.
Unfortunately, some people from the Western Fandom have negative opinions of him because of inaccurate portrayals. Although I don't really hold any of them responsible for falling into that trap, I do wish that they would give such characters a chance in order to establish their own opinions on them. As far as I can tell, a lot of DL "fans" seem to hold Ayato to this unattainable standard. They don't mind other Diaboys performing the bare minimum, but they want Ayato to constantly be there for Yui in every route, even when he is harmed or doesn't have anything to do with the Diaboy she chose there. Everyone overlooks it when the other Diaboys are nasty to Yui, but as soon as Ayato does the same, people will only remember him for that, regardless of the fact that he did more noble things than any of his brothers.
Such double standards are not a thing in the Japanese DL and otoge community, hence he’s considered the golden boy of the franchise (here are some of their opinions).
I have absolutely never seen someone who doesn’t respect Ayato… I mean, he got flaws too but his positive personality traits are indeed the most desirable, so I don’t get how anyone could hate him, especially after playing his DF route, which is viewed as the masterpiece of DL.

alright, without further ado, i honestly.. don't know if karl would do so, but at the same time, i can imagine it, as twisted as it is. while karl might not have any more plans for having children, i think he could easily figure out a use for future offspring. plus, this is karlheinz, a man who can sort of do whatever he wants, so getting his s/o knocked up just for fun? just for his own pleasure? sure. it might just end up becoming a christa 2.0 situation though, where karl will convince his s/o that he's in love with them and would probably just gaslight them the entire relationship. i'm not going to say if karl was to get his s/o pregnant it would be with their consent, because it probably wouldn't be 100% consensual but rather with dubious consent? like, again, in christa's case, i may be wrong, but christa was, even before having subaru, was convinced by karl that he was infatuated with her and whatnot. then, one thing led to another and everything escalated. now, whether or not karl would do that just to ensure that his s/o stays with him.. well, he knows he can get them to be with him forever even without getting them pregnant,, . also, the chances of them miraculously loving karl after he’s gotten them pregnant sounds unrealistic to him but either way. karl does what he wants. and if he wants his s/o to have a child for whatever reason, perhaps because he’s actually in love with them (which. not something i see possible because it’s karlheinz) or because he’s got future plans. idk,,!! i’ll write a tiny little drabble for you, though. nothing really graphic at all. also hehe with scenarios i tend to get a bit serious except;.. i hate writing scenarios bc i criticize myself too much 😔

Icy cold fingers startled the vampire lord’s tired, restrained little wife, making her jolt from her temporary somber, the only escape Karlheinz was willing to allow her.
She had done this to herself, the vampire believed.
They could’ve been happy. She could be living comfortably, sitting right next to Karlheinz on his throne, but she all she chooses is to deny.
It was entertaining at first, is what Karlheinz would say, had he been asked. It was amusing, chasing after someone who, for once in his many years, did not return his affections.
While the man has had plenty of years practicing his patience, he can only handle so much.
Brushing away a strand of hair, Karlheinz purposefully stroked his wife before him gently. If it weren’t for the fact that she looked at him with disgust in her eyes, or the fact that she was literally bound together at her legs and arms, it would come off as endearing. But both Karlheinz and his beloved knew it was otherwise.
“Good morning, love. You’ve slept in quite a bit.” Karl stated, ignoring her scowl, completely unbothered, as he usually was. Honestly, if the vampire king wasn’t as old as he was, his wife would’ve given him a challenge, considering how defiant they were. It was admirable, really. The way they still held on to the idea that they could possibly leave him.
As expected, Karlheinz got no response. That seemed to be the case as of late, aside from a few snarky retorts here and there. Removing his pale hand away from the woman’s face, he raised it up to run through his own white locks. Exhaling, Karlheinz once again, killed the silence that lingered throughout their bedroom.
“Little wife.. I have a proposition for you.”
No response.
“Won’t you hear me out, my love?”
A frown started to just barely form upon his lips, but was gone with a blink. Shifting closer to her, he used his hand to lift the woman’s chin up, making her face him. To his surprise, she didn’t fight it. Perhaps the drink she had hours ago still had an effect on her. Interesting, but right now, Karl wasn’t trying to test out any of his other experiments. Not at this hour, at least. Although, it did give him an idea for future uses.
Piercing golden eyes gazed into his wife’s, who stared back at him expectantly- not like he left her room to look elsewhere.
“I love you. Don’t you believe me? Do you not believe that we are fated to be?” Karlheinz spoke seriously, despite the fact that he was completely improvising. Women liked to hear that, didn’t they? Karl could almost laugh at the way it sounded like something straight from his brother’s mouth. What a sap, he was. So unlike the man who was seen as a king and even worshipped like a god.
Eventually, Karl thought, things will work the way he wanted. He felt no pressure to force things along, but the endless game of cat and mouse had grown tiresome.
Karl shifted once again, moving his hand towards the back of his wife’s neck, intertwining his fingers in his hair before pulling her into a careful kiss. It was short and sweet, just another lie fed to the woman he was able to call his wife.
“Just what exactly, my dear, would you do in order to get what you desire?”

little note: i left this ambiguous on purpose because honestly i feel like it fits karl as a character but also i just. wasn’t sure where exactly to go lol. at the very end though, when karl asks what she’d be willing to do in order to break away from him, i had the idea that what he would’ve had in mind would have been to carry his child. anyways, let me know how this was. like i said, i get really self conscious when it comes to scenarios and like.. actual writing so djhfd rip

How wary are you of pet store rabbits?
Extremely.
1. Pet stores generally cater to the audience of people who don't actually do much research on the pet they want to buy in the first place, and considering how difficult it is to find genuinely good care advice for rabbits, that means it's even more likely that those rabbits will end up in the wrong hands.
2. Generally, a breeder that really cares where/who their rabbits are going to won't sell to pet stores because they know the people who are buying rabbits from there are likely people who won't properly care for those rabbits.
3. Because most reputable/responsible breeders won't sell to pet stores, the rabbits you buy at pet stores tend to be from irresponsible breeders. These may be people who otherwise breed for good reasons just genuinely don't care what happens to their culls (this is somewhat rare, but it does happen), or they may be people just throwing together whatever random adorable bunnies they come across together in order to pump out even more adorable babies to sell to pet stores or to literally anyone who wants a pet rabbit. Either way, by purchasing rabbits from pet stores, you're telling those pet stores that there is a demand for rabbits to be bought from them, which means they're going to continue to give those irresponsible breeders more business and encourage/fund them to keep going.
4. You have no idea what you're getting when you buy a pet store rabbit. You don't know what medical conditions might run in its lines that it may either express or carry, you don't know what the temperament of the rabbit might turn out to be. Chances are, a rabbit bought at a pet store will have something wrong with it, and you as the pet owner have to decide whether you're willing to/have the financial ability to potentially go through all of the vet bills or if, should any issues arise, you are willing/able to euthanize that rabbit.
5. Just as a general rule, I would say the vast majority of rabbits found in shelters or found released/feral either come directly from irresponsible/non-reputable breeders or from pet stores. By buying from a pet store, you may either directly or indirectly be contributing to the amount of rabbits in shelters and/or found released/feral, and therefore giving rabbits rights groups such as House Rabbit Society more fuel to push their agendas by proving their point that 'there are too many rabbits in shelters/too many rabbits released, and that means all rabbit breeding needs to be stopped' - which then affects all breeders and all rabbits of all kinds.
Basically... Pet store rabbits are generally a huge no from me. They're irresponsibly bred and irresponsibly sold, and really probably shouldn't be a thing (at the very least not until more work has been done to make accurate rabbit care guidelines and facts about what it's like to have rabbits as pets way more accessible).
It gets a little complicated because yes, there is still a market for pet rabbits, and if reputable breeders generally don't sell any pet rabbits then where is anyone supposed to get one? I think the answer to that is... If you already prove yourself to be somebody who is open to listening and learning from folks who have been raising rabbits for years (or who have been taught by folks who have been raising rabbits for years/generations), then folks might be more willing to sell a rabbit that could be suitable as a pet to you. Idk how other breeders feel about this, but personally I think it would be cool if somebody really interested in a well bred pet rabbit came to a rabbit show and talked to some breeders that work with the breeds they're interested in. If somebody came up to me and said they were looking to get a pet rabbit and wanted to learn more about my breed and the general care of rabbits, I might be willing to take their contact information so I can let them know if/when I have something available for them if they're still interested. Again, that's just me personally, and idk how other breeders would feel about this, so I wouldn't say that's the be-all-end-all for how to go about buying a pet rabbit from a reputable breeder.

1. What was the first element of your OC that you remember considering (name, appearance, backstory, etc.)?
john's name. he was always going to be named for one of the four evangelists, the only question was whether he was going to be matthew mark or john. i already had bg characters called mark and matt so it had to be john!

2. Did you design them with any other characters/OCs from their universe in mind?
yes john was originally a parallel universe version of an established character, with the same overall appearance. he got his current look (i.e short, brown hair etc) a year into that story and he chose those elements himself.

john as mentioned before, macha i actually don't like how that name went because i really did just grab a name from mythology that's mildly associated with horses but otherwise doesn't really fit. but idk what else i'd call them, i reckon they'd be a true nameless character if i made them now
4. In developing their backstory, what elements of the world they live in played the most influential parts?
john - the fact that his hometown ferru is on the coastline! i had no idea it would become properly nautical but ro mentioned there could be a shipping element that is mildly viking flavoured and i took that and ran with it. the mountains surrounding ferru making travel on foot difficult, the location of rare metal mines, and the enormous amount of wealth concentrated in ferru all made his family's dominance in the shipping industry a no-brainer.
macha's backstory is strongly intertwined with finbarr's so it was relatively easy to slot them in there.
18. What is the most recent thing you’ve discovered about your OC?
for john, i rolled to see if he's into a range of fetishes and discovered that his strongest turn-off is bondage (giving and receiving)
macha i'm not so sure, there haven't been recent new developments in the story of mvf so it's been consistent for a while. OH wait, i remember, it's that macha can only communicate coherently by occupying a disguise - undisguised, they can barely talk. so to communicate they have to "be" someone else, and they pick that someone deliberately to provoke a desired response. but if that disguise is broken by outside forces, it becomes dead to them and they can no longer use it as a means of communication
19. What is your favorite fact about your OC?
john can't swim :'(
macha became a goth for real in the 1980s, fully loves the music, the fashion, etc though tends to stick with very classic tradgoth elements

I may have missed it but did you watch Shadow and Bone on Netflix? What were your thoughts on it?
i watched the first season! i think i have spoken about it on here before but i didn't tag it because i wasn't very nice, and i didn't want to like, spring that on the greater fandom tag lol
uh overall i think that the show flattened a lot of the things that i enjoyed about the books, and did not improve on anything i disliked from them.
the way the show engaged with race was deeply performative and one dimensional, like, jump-scaring the viewer with ISN'T THIS RACISM SO BAD AND AWFUL in a way that seemed intended to induce the viewer and the show itself to feel good about having noticed that they just got punched in the face.
like right before six of crows came out, i did Representation Math to figure out who was going to die lol and i was Correct and that's the kind of ethos that the show persisted with. coupled with the vibe from the books that has been increasingly sinophobic, i just uuuh Didn't Like It, it left a bad taste.
(obvs i am White and it is not my job to claim Good or Bad Job overall, or assign myself Progressive Points for having this take, but it is the way it hit me at the time of watching and after discussing with friends who are better positioned than i am to comment)
the casting of nina really bothered me, and bardugo's open support of it, while i get that it was probably a sensible choice for her, REALLY bothered me. like if you're going to create characters based on which Diversity Niche they fill, then it's incumbant on you as a creator to hold firm to that vision and use your power and your voice to push back on attempts to uuuuh hollywoodify fatness. like it was just a fundamental betrayal that...sure, i get, that's hollywood, but also this character was explicitly created as a balm to the hollywoodification of fatness, and the response to her casting was basically 'well so long as she's plus size that's what is important'. idk like this is not the fault of the actress at all, but it is: tiresome. the actress is not Fat.
also her costuming was terrible in a very un-nina way that felt like it was trying to disguise how unfat she really was/frumpify her
but aside from That Stuff, i also think that the show misunderstood the fundamental point of two of the core Alina relationships in a way that was deeply boring and in fact more of a problem in the case of the darkling in particular.
like a thing that the books does really well actually is the arc of mal and alina's relationship? in which they start off with a fundamental misunderstanding of what they mean to each other that results in them growing further apart to the point where they both have to change who they are as people to actually fit together properly again. it's a really good example of like, puppy love not working out because values and life circumstances change, but then character growth enables the characters to come together as new people with a different perspective.
because the show starts mal off in his Clear Devotion phase, it makes a lot of the potential growth in that relationship way less meaningful? lol i know a lot of people don't like book malina and...whatever to that, frankly, but from a Craft Perspective, they gave this man his character from the Third Book without giving him any of the Growth Triggers that got him to that point. i only care about I Am Become A Blade mal because he had to fight to get to that point.
re: the darkling on the show lol the show has this weird ethos that their relationship is somehow more ethical if the darkling is Really No For Real In Love With Her from the beginning, which is just SO off base with what the actual problem is with that relationship. the show tries to girl bossify Alina by have her take the darkling off guard/having him experience Real Emotions For Her without considering the fact that this just means that,,,someone who loves her is using her? that's not better! she doesn't have More Power in this relationship because she's shown to be more proactive in the romance side of their relationship, because he's still using her! she hasn't won something from him by making him experience an emotion or desire, she's just wound herself deeper into his web - but the show presents these moments as though she has gained some kind of control over a situation that she literally cannot have control over.
like the whole point of the relationship in that first book is that alina is being groomed, but instead of showing that, the show said 'oh grooming is bad, alina should have more agency!' and shot a situation where she literally cannot have agency because vital information is being kept from her, as a 'yas queen make him obsessed with you!' kind of situation. he's already obsessed with her! because she's a tool to him! it's not agency to make a man want you when he is already using you for his own purposes, it's being groomed!
i need shows that are engaging in depicting problematic relationships to fucking lean into that rather than wriggle out of it. because when they try to wriggle out of it, they always, always end up depicting something that's still fucked up, only now the narrative doesn't seem to be aware of its fucked upness.
anyway uuuuh those are my main thoughts on show, i did not watch the second season and probably never will lol

May I ask why you dont like chris and piers together? (Thats totally fine but im just curious)
for me it hits too close to a teacher/student dynamic bc they clearly have this mentor/mentee kinda relationship where Piers looks up to Chris and has followed his guidance for a long time. and as a teacher, the mere thought of being into one of my students is ...ridiculous? lol. like. not even something to consider. never in a billion years. not saying they look up to me but the dynamic is still weird :'D
sure by the happenings in re6 Piers is also very experienced already so he's not afraid to speak his mind and he does so on multiple occasions, but the origins of their relationship still remains. and Chris is still his commanding officer. Chris can pull rank. Chris has the final word. technically only on the field but I'm having a hard time imagining that it wouldn't spill into their private lives too. and that's gross. it's an inherent power imbalance that just gives me the ick.
like. I COULD see it work if someone put their A game into it and handled it properly, acknowledged the issues and showed them working through those. but usually that's just glossed over. if a fic for example would move them to different teams or otherwise solve the power issue, and would acknowledge Piers growing out of the hero-worship he started with lol, then it could work. but that's not what happened in ANY of the fics I tried to read when I first got into the fandom. it was literally always just ignored in favor of "cute puppy boytoy and big gruff captain" and... no.
I am sure there are people out there who give the pairing the dynamic it deserves but at least when I got into fandom and tried to find that, the overwhelming majority of the fan content just. didn't. hopefully it has changed.
(this is also coincidentally why I'm not into the remake Krauser/Leon because they have a similar type of dynamic and I am not into it. at all. them being so much more equals in the og backstory hits all the right notes for me while the new version alienates me further. but I digress.)
(I also find it gross how the day Piers died is somehow turned into a cutesy-wutesy pairing celebration day instead of acknowledging him as a person, acknowledging the massive sacrifice he made to save the entire damn world. it always just turns into "he saved Chris! <3" while sure he did but more importantly he did it for the future, like he says himself, and I think he deserves mad respect for that. basically it feels like the shippers don't let Piers exist as a person of his own, and he only has the right to exist as a half of a pairing. which. rude. literally pick any other damn day for the pairing. let Piers get the respect and memorial he deserves.)
but when it turns into ot3, when Leon is added into the mix, I find it way easier to deal with the whole dynamic because Leon changes it fundamentally. he doesn't work with either of them, and idk, he balances things out in multiple ways. so there I can get past the issues I have with Chris and Piers and just focus on what would undeniably be a fun dynamic if you only look at their personalities.
and i admit i am not immune to their argument in re6 lol when Chris pushes Piers against the wall my brain always chants "kiss kiss kiss kiss" even tho I'm legit not into the pairing :'D

have you read fujimoto's short with the demon little sister nayuta? i enjoyed it a lot and do wonder if he's taken more of the ideas for that short and applied it to csm.
oh i've read all his one-shots by this point lol, and yeah it seems very clear to me that fujimoto is remixing/remaking nayuta of the end, which is about a little girl who's going to be responsible for the end of the world, and her older brother who loves her desperately but also struggles to take care of her properly and to connect to her. it's pretty much a 1:1 parallel to nayuta and denji in part 2!
i mean part of what i enjoy about fujimoto is that he has some VERY specific ideas/themes he likes to explore, and is clearly building on top of them with every new work and with improved skills. personally i'm a huge fan of creators rehashing their old works and improving on them, adding onto them, rebooting them after years of experience and maturity. in the case of fujimoto, his very first one-shot also features a codependent adopted older brother/younger sister pair, and agni and luna from fire punch also fit that dynamic (with some more overtly incestuous tones). but like, there are lots of examples of him flat out rebooting old ideas/works-- the most blatant is that look back is a rehash of an older one-shot of fujimoto's about two artist sisters.
i hesitate to predict anything re chainsaw man, but there's no doubt in my mind that fujimoto is elaborating upon that one-shot--the end of the world is 200% gonna be a thing in part 2 considering we have three of the four horsemen into play and that one of them is literally nayuta of the end. idk how much of a role nayuta herself will play since she's one of four horsemen (who all seem to have different agendas so far), and since denji and pochita will also involved in some way. she isn't exactly spoilt but denji is clearly struggling with raising her, which makes sense! he's a traumatized teenage boy and she's the reincarnation of his abuser and his metaphorical daughter and he clearly loves her to death while also having serious issues with setting healthy boundaries of any kind with anybody, nevermind with *her*.
i've seen people insist that he's clearly raising her perfectly and there's nothing wrong or weird about their relationship and i'm like..... eh? i mean, he's certaintly raising her a lot better than the way makima was raised by the government. she's a happy and expressive kid! he's giving her the love makima always needed and wanted. but he's also having issues setting limits on their relationship, or stopping her from throwing very destructive tantrums. and that makes sense too, again he's a very socially stunted teenage boy still recovering from life altering trauma! he's doing his best and it's clearly working out in some ways! but i'm not sure it's enough, or that it's a "healthy" relationship, and it's part of why it hurts my heart in a good way. when he tells her she comes first (apparently the english translation is kinda meh, it's best translated as "you're the most important to me, nayuta"), his expression is loving and *pained*. it's definitely a better relationship than between kenji and nayuta in the one-shot, but there's no doubt in my mind that it's going to be tested as denji tries to form relationships outside of nayuta, and as the end of the world and nayuta's sisters loom over her.

I think it chapter 206 pony made fun of shouji and said something like I don’t like looking at you and call him an octopus and he responded with he used to people being scared of him and mineta and another classmate call him a sexy octopus he didn’t respond if there more I don’t remember and as for others the civilian lady who told Deku they wouldn’t let her in for shelter but I think hori was going back and forth with this storyline and decided during vh arc to bring it back
Is this in response to my wish that Hori had shown us more anti-heteromorphic discrimination from the pov of heroes? If so, yeah, I kept that in mind. It's why I mentioned that Shouji wears a mask for other people's comfort. He doesn't do it because he likes wearing one, but because he doesn't want people to find him scary. Like I was arguing, I think that's a case of quirked society asking heteromorphs to fit in rather than working towards integrating them properly and giving them rights.
But anyway, if I'm honest I don't find Shouji a particularly groundbreaking character. What he adds to the story is just worldbuilding information, but nothing more. Like, we already knew from other characters that heteromorphs are seen as subhuman, and that mutations that take after animals get called slurs and/or seen as scary. Again, think of Shouto and Dabi using the words "lizard" "chicken skewers" "mutt". Think of Gang Orca being perceived as a villain because of his appearance.
I wrote that post because I was trying to point out something different. What we're missing are not more cases where that prejudice resulted in name calling. What we're missing is a non-villain character reflecting on all the roadblocks they had to face to be on the same starting line as non-mutants, and giving us a first-hand pov of how this prejudice still affects them as they move forward. Past the slurs and the stereotyping them as villains. Aside from Spinner, there is no major character (with a personal arc!) who openly criticizes hero society for the way it treats them. When this discrimination affects heroes, what we see is always much milder. Spinner was chased out of town with rocks. How did Shouji, Kouda, Gang Orca and all the others get into a hero school? Why did they decide to be heroes? How do they feel about being part of a system who considers them subhumans? Did they have to sacrifice something (even some dignity) to get what they wanted? If so, was it worth it? Did being there, under the spotlights, change anything for fellow heteromorphs, or are they still expected to work twice as hard to be on the same starting line as everyone else? How do they feel about needing to "tone down" their mutations to fit in?
Like, Shouji works fine as just a background character. But he's not fleshed out, so I am very skeptical of the major role he's being given currently because he simply lacks the depth to make it impactful. We don't know his motivations, his goals; we don't even know his backstory. And sure, we'll probably get one now that he's apparently the focus of a subplot, but it'll still fall flat because it lacks the set up. When you compare the screentime and depth in Shouji and Spinner's respective cases, it's clear that Spinner is much more fleshed out. That's where our sympathy falls by default. Putting Spinner against a hero kid who barely says 10 lines in all the story and expecting it to have emotional depth is... A debatable choice. It's just a disservice to Spinner and to the whole heteromorph plotline imho. It feels like even now that it's become a major theme in the final battle, Horikoshi still couldn't cook up something to give Spinner a real challenge, and instead sent two (I'm adding Kouda there too) of the blandest of his side characters to face one of the villains he already gives little focus to.
Idk, I'm probably salty here but imho that just makes it unsatisfying and lame when Spinner will eventually lose bc of plot reasons. The least Horikoshi could've done was facing him with a hero who had some internal narration and the bare bones of a character arc.

Headcanons about Canon and not AUs for once in my life
You know how in TDR, they have that really zoomed out shot at the end of the chase before Karr careens off a cliff where they do a bit of an Oopsie. That oopsie being “there is a very clear way out of this situation. that way is turning left instead of right.”
And you know how in KvK, Karr’s self preservation programming is basically thrown out the window? So that they could throw model cars at each other or sumn I’m not being sarcastic there’s actually a few split seconds where you can see them throwing model cars at each other it’s so freaking funny I highly recommend going back and looking for it if you didn’t see it, it’s like behind the explosion I think, idk the exact timing bc it’s been a while but Yeah
Well. The IRL explanation for these things is almost definitely “because it looks cool”, and I’m definitely making way more of it than there is, but behold. I have basically informed my opinion on Karr’s personality (behind the whole scared for his life thing) from these things. Because, as a hyper-intelligent AI, he really shouldn’t be able to make these sort of “dumb” mistakes, right?
The best I’ve got, then, is that he’s a LOT more influenced by emotions than Kitt is. I don’t know whether I’d go as far as to say that he experiences them MORE, because Kitt clearly does have them... I think he’s just more cautious by nature, so he doesn’t really let himself act on them much. Karr, though? He’s impulsive, and easily swayed off course by panic, anger, sadness, etc. That’s why, despite being just as smart as Kitt is, he often makes far less rational decisions.
He drove off a cliff because he was so scared that he just acted on impulse without doing any of the AI rationalizing stuff we’re used to seeing from Kitt. If he’d have cleared his mind enough to scan ahead and process the routes as he drove, he would have made a different decision. That’s Kitt’s biggest advantage in their fights, and it would be his greatest contribution if the two were ever to team up; both of them can smash things, but only one of them can work properly under pressure.
Even down to his programming--code can be changed, so it’s not the law that we often think of it as. It’s just a very, VERY strong suggestion. Kitt has never tried to change it; he’s never even CONSIDERED it. Karr, though? He reached his breaking point. The thought of continuing to live his life on the run, unable to trust anyone or stay anywhere, was enough to drive him crazy. He COULDN’T bring himself to continue with FLAG--and specifically Michael and Kitt--constantly on his tail. So, he snapped and overrode his very foundation. He’d either get rid of them or die trying.
That’s probably the core of why Devon was so scared of him, without providing much of a concrete reason. Because Karr’s unpredictable, far closer to human than they’d ever expected him to be. Even when he was on their side, they didn’t think they could trust him not to change his mind, or make a snap decision that endangered everyone involved. I think he could have gotten control of it over time, but it definitely makes more sense that they wouldn’t want to work with him in this state. Their response to it is still immoral imo, but if they didn’t fully realize his sentience and just saw it as a programming fluke, then I could see where it seemed necessary. Especially if an accident like that had already happened... Not gonna elaborate on that here; I’ve made a post about it, and tbh I probably shouldn’t have because it wasn’t my idea in the slightest. It’s just such a good headcanon that I basically adopted it immediately AHSIDO (Yes I did credit the fren in the original post, but it still just wasn’t the ideal way to go about it tbh, that’s why I’m not linking either. If you really wanna scroll for it, it is still there so go for it ig best of luck to ye IASHDOHSA, but otherwise it’s really not mine to tell)
Headcanons that are so extremely Not Canon / for AUs
While the Karr that is in canon hasn’t had much time to be in the world, and thus is far less worldly than Kitt is, I would think that it would come much more naturally to him than his brother if given the chance. I mean heck, he developed a whole salesman personality underwater sooo /lh That probably means that he also does that copying thing really well, too. Like, how Kitt picked up on the Trucker jargon that one time and got excited and parroted it for a bit... it happens pretty often, but that’s the clearest example I’ve got right now oops. Anyway, I think Karr does that, too, but incorporates it in a somewhat more stealthy way. Because if he messed up people will be Trying to Murder Him Again.
All I’m saying is. One of them might have a chance of understanding meme culture and that one sure as heck isn’t Kitt.
Like, I actually think that Karr and Michael would have... shockingly similar personalities if Karr actually got to understand the world and himself better? If they’d stop hating each other for a second, I think they’d get along really well. Both loyalty driven, both impulsive due to emotionality, both sometimes make dumb decision because they just care too much... bothwouldprobablydieforKitteventhoughhedhateit oops what’s that my brothers bias showing????
Anyway, how this applies in Human!AU is that Karr can blend into human life really well. Like, he’s just as curious and unsure as Kitt is, but he quickly picks up on the basic behaviors that people around him are routinely using and integrates them so as not to stick out. And then, as time goes on, he just would kind of figure out what it all means himself, to the point where he’s reverse engineered how to be human with quite good accuracy. Whereas Kitt is always very curious and is quite open about it, because why wouldn’t he be y’know he’s not used to hiding, so he’d probably stand out a lot more at first if he didn’t have Michael there to do most of the talking and explain things for him. Idk if that makes any sense but yeah. I just love the thought of Karr actually being the knowledgeable older sibling because he’s had much more time to adjust to his new form, and like he actually has a whole life of his own going on that he’s basically just disappeared into until Michael and Kitt show up. Kitt asks him stuff, and he almost always has an answer. On occasion, those answers are confidently incorrect. But he’s trying OAHSDOIHSA
Also Karr and Michael bickering about basically everything, things that don’t matter in the slightest, while Kitt’s just standing there making sure it doesn’t go too far. The second it starts going south “Why does it matter anyway?” and everyone’s just dead silent. It didn’t matter they just had a bad case of the Himbos.
Like, it’s pretty easy to forget that Karr’s an AI after you’ve been talking to him for a while. But then you ask him something when he’s not worked up about anything, and he provides this Giggachad Massive Brain response and it’s like “oh YEAH”
Love Language
BECAUSE WHY NOT
Actually tho, I genuinely think love language is so important to his character specifically. You can take it as romantic if you want, that’s not how I personally mean it in this case tho. I mean how he addresses the people that he cares about, no matter what the nature of it is.
See, a lot of the (in my mind) misunderstandings about his character stem from how he acted whenever he got a new pilot. Like, with Tony and Rev, it could be easy to think that he was being walked all over by them and that he was entirely aimless. It would also be easy to think that, no, he did have a motivation, because he wanted to steal things + kidnap people. Same with John to a lesser extent, because John never told him to do the bad things, just also didn’t really try to get him to do good things either. So surely Karr chose to do bad because he really, really just wanted to?
But I think that, while it doesn’t excuse his bad decisions (ESPECIALLY not the ones that put people’s lives in danger), a lot of it can be explained by love language. Karr, simply put, has the Acts of Service love language.
The reason Karr let Tony and Rev direct him however they wished is because, after they inadvertently rescued him from deactivation, he felt indebted and was genuinely grateful. He showed it by DOING whatever they asked of him. And all he hoped was that they would get him help in exchange, which they did in about the most awful way possible but yeah.
And then John came along, and Karr is DESPERATELY trying to do the same thing... John never asks for his help with, anything really, but Karr is proactively trying to get him to ask for something. Doesn’t matter what, he’ll do it. It becomes increasingly frustrating when his acts of service aren’t seen as good enough, when he technically had what he needed but was still sorely lacking a friend. And then he started going to truly awful extremes to show through ACTION that he was a loyal friend, that whether John thought he needed a companion or not, he’d be there, he PROMISED.
He also, to a somewhat lesser extent, takes action against those who have wronged him, as if to say “I’m done caring, and I’ll SHOW you how”, y’know? A lot of it was out of self defense, but still important to mention ig.
You could say that this is due to the nature of them being AIs right, like built to provide a service from the beginning so I’m SURE they do feel that way yea. However, I honestly feel like Kitt would express care through basically anything other than that. Like, acts of service are the bare minimum, he’d do THAT for anybody because he was made for it. If he goes out of his way to spend time with you, though--or in an human!AU, if he leans into a hug--then he really does care. So, I really am not just defaulting to this. I think Karr specifically thinks of it as more than his obligation, it’s his great joy to show how much he cares.

Maybe idk you should stop acting like you know better that SDRA2 creator? Because anyone could use words against you and say "Kanade could have better villian arc but it's lost opportunity" You're just trying to say it's badly written to justify your thinking that Linuj made a mistake killing Hibiki. and oh god what an irony that your favorite characters are part of Hajime's big harem. I love Hibiki and I also want her to have a happy ending but how you put her in a harem disgusts me

BEST EXPERIENCE : Overall just meeting the Tumblr besties @jardinae and @serpentsexile. Ily both, and you guys really did change my life for the better. I loved all the discord events. All the stupid dash commentary. The unhinged stuff that happens in and out of the servers. Though, I do severely apologise that it meant dealing with the likes of Specs, emo and the other blonde bitch. I wake up every morning eagerly waiting to know what we get up to next and what stupid shit we'll do. Love you guys <3.
RP PET PEEVE : I have a few different ones but my main 2 are probably having your entire character revolve around shipping and also having a stupidly powerful character and then just. Not elaborating at all. I've been in groups where the entire theme is MURDER and HORROR and yet they spend the whole time making out and ignoring any plot hooks. I've also seen characters who can apparently take on gods or have ridiculous powers but that whole backstory is ignored, never used or has no depth to it. Like if they're an all powerful god, what does their role involve? What are their worshippers like? What's their influence in the world? There's no point having an OP character if all you use them for is to flirt around or just have an excuse to counter everything against them so they never show weakness.
PLOTS OR MEMES : I Memes are easier for me to answer quickly, but I'm a huge sucker for plots. Even if we never get around to writing them properly, I love throwing around ideas or blabbing on about stupid scenarios or AUs or relationships AAA. Sometimes I'll spend more time talking about a reply than I will actually replying BYE
LONG OR SHORT REPLIES : Long replies! Short are fine for memes but I feel like they can go nowhere at times. I like adding detail since it's more fun for me and I feel like it just makes things flow on a lot nicer.
ARE YOU LIKE YOUR MUSES : Oh To a small extent. I have a few similair interests to Specs and Jack, but personality wise they're different. Especially Specs. Extroverts lowkey scare me so the only time I come off that fucking crazy is online OIUHEUH. Hee's someone I'd like to be friends with though. Opposites attract kind of situation.
For the most part, a lot of my ocs kind of spring from personal experiences though. Jack was a way to kind of process my own situation. At times Specs is a bit of a vent character, but also just kind of a comfort character to help me through it. Alistair is a stand in for people I despise and sort of acts like a punching bag (though I haven't written him in ages for personal reasons lol) and characters like Lust, Dorian and William are kind of based around me as a person. All in all, I love most of my muses and oc (through they are on thin ice lol). If they were real I'd like to get to meet some of them one day.
