after i finish watching Knight Rider all the way through part of me wants to rewatch it again just to count up all the traffic violations Michael makes because HOLY SHIT
#i know it’s not serious#but if i have to watch him drive over double yellow lines#or park in between two spots#or not stop at a stop sign#or not use his turn signal#i’m going to SCREAM#and that’s not even counting the times he’s actively chasing someone which you could argue away as part of his job#so he wouldn’t necessarily HAVE to follow all traffic laws#although he’s not a police officer and works for a private company so idk if that defense would hold up in the real world BUT#even giving him the benefit of the doubt oh my god dude what the hell#am i taking silly little 80s tv show too seriously again?? yes sorry i’m still going insane#knight rider#knight rider 1982

I had my very first experience as an English teacher yesterday, the class is small, we introduce ourselves, talk a bit about our families, where we live, what we like, y'know the "basic stuff" as they're adults (+1 teen). I'm teaching Level 2 English, so all this convo was useful not only to get to know each other before classes really start but also to review all they learned in Level 1 previously.
And then, as we go from one topic to another, letting the talk flow, I mention I have been watching Knight Rider (1982) and I made a point to watch it with subtitles in English because I'm not familiar with early 80s lingo - the point is, watching something I enjoy, I'm learning new vocabulary too. Then I show a picture of a Knight Rider poster on my tablet to let them know what I'm talking about.
And then this girl stares at it wide eyed. "WAIT. WAIT, I KNOW IT. I WATCHED AS A KID WITH MY DAD. IT'S CALLED......"
We both say the Brazilian Portuguese title of the series at the same time. "A SUPER MÁQUINA!"
So with a bit more talking, it turns out she watched the 2008 series with the Mustang and she loved KITT so much she's currently studying Control and Automation Engineering.
AM I TOUCHED? AM I HAPPY TO KNOW THIS LITTLE SERIES HAD SUCH AN IMPACT ON SOMEONE? ABSOLUTELY NOT, WHAT GIVES YOU THIS IMPRESSION AUDSHSFLAFUIOHLDF???
