Thank you! I think the glow effect gives it that vibe??? I use procreate and since I draw on one layer before rendering I duplicate the base color layer and blur it abt 10-20% and set the blurred ver in different layer settings pin light/lighten/color burn etc depends on the overall color scheme and when I’m done rendering I sometimes use the bloom effect ^^ it’s a little difficult to explain with words but hope it helps

I was floored when I searched jjba in the site I usually watch anime at and there were so many options, i kinda got confused but i found a 'watch order complete guide' so that's fixed but i never knew jjba didn't have that many fillers? apparently, all the ova's related to the story so it's recommended to not skip anything, excited to watch it tbh, long continuity types r a grind but the complex storylines are pretty rewarding when they finish im p sure, excited to see the animation too tbh

and ohh u both watched the prev seasons together? were you both able to understand the plot properly? (/genquestion/lyttheart) it never rlly occured to me that people watch anime 2gether since i usually rewind a lot (/lytheart) and oh wait, i'll make sure to hold off on reading the manga till after i finish watching the show then, ty for the warning :')! and i just searched for 'jjba part 4 rohan blue hair' scene, i don't know if i found it but i found some other scenes with different and p unique colorings. i'm really curious how they integrated that with the anime actually though i imagine it was around the fight scenes since those scenes typically have the most effects? and woah, his design definitely looks nice tbh, i don't know why but the bit about you saying "kinda cuz theyre pretty not bizarre (in comparison.)" reminds me of that one meme with the guy in yu-gi-oh w/ the normal hair as opposed to literally even in the series lol

YAYAYAYA the certified best way to watch it is to watch part 1 & 2 (phantom blood + battle tendency in the same like period of time?? like dont take a break after phantom blood ends (by break i mean stop watching for a month) then you watch 3, 4, then the rohan kishibe ova's. if ur in it for the fact its jojo id say to watch the anime ova version, then to watch the live action one later whenever you feel like it- its jojo but not art so it doesnt really pack that exact same punch after the ovas you watch part 5 and then 6 the one thing i'll say about jojo (other than every other thing ive said :D) is that araki does not give a fuck he WILL kill the characters you love and he will NOT feel sorry even the main character isnt safe i honestly would not reccommend reading past part 6's manga because part 7, 8 and 9? havent been animated yet the mangas just good to read because its the original you feel araki's like self in it (more) or whatever

the using song names for abilities stuff is like, really reoccuring i think almost every power after part 2 has some musical/tarot connection theres a lot more obvious (?) examples of this like "man in the mirror" named after the michael jackson song, or notorious b.i.g, or the one named metallica depending on the kind of music you like its more easier to pick up on the references

kira is VERY plot relevant. so plot relavant i insist you do not search him up at all it might be hard cuz ive been gassing him up but once you get there youll see why part 1/2 are different for a big reason which will become immediately clear 10 minutes into part 3 for that reason a lot of people say to skip the first two parts when starting but i just say No....? like. theyre plot relevant, they set the stage, and they bring in joseph and jonathan!!!! those guys are amazing and telling people to skip those part because what? cause its not like the rest is such a slap in the face them not being the same is the point!! part 1 and 2 are set way back like way back like with cowboys so theyre not going to have the stuff/ thing that made part 3 forward different because they just werent there technology wise!!! part 1 is such a charming part because jonathan is literally such a sweet heart like SUCH a sweetheart and part 2 is brought together by joseph and these other 2 characters (spoilers) plus part 1 is literally the most important season ever. i wont say why but. it is. season 3 only works because of the stuff it takes from 1 and 2, literally in show or just in like writing or art (as in the people from part 1 and 2, and the way the storys work) I AM RAMBLING.

But I wonder what type of clothes do u think Rachel would wear if she wasnt as insecure as she is right now in the story? I think it might be somewhere a clash between preppy and vintage or so.

well thank u anon <3 i talked in jest there but i rlly do think styling rachel in different ways could show us more about her!! the same with all the other characters. i think their clothes rlly dont go as far as they should, which is a shame imho

now hm. if rachel would be more confident in herself and her looks how would she dress, is an intresting question. i do agree that she'd probably dress in a more preppy or vintage clothes, though i think she'd probably also dress in a cottagecore or light academia style.

now, i did come up with a few what-if designs for her. firstly, i went back and looked at her icarus avatar for color inspo. in here, i didnt go with styling her like icarus, purelly cus i feel like those clothes wouldnt be flattering on her. i adored how that red dress looked on her, so i tried to keep red elements and the general siluette of it instead of the form fitting clothes icarus had. the red dress was the only thing i had to work with, so i rlly was trying to invent the wheel here😔

i didnt go with any pants design cus i couldnt imagine her wearing them, tho its simply my opinion. i wanted her to have a long dress and only went off model on vers 4 and 3. and even then, i think she'd be wearing long socks or shoes

i like the ver 1 the most when it comes to colors, even if the camera washes them out. i do think the flowers would be too difficult to replicate in the comic and draw them many times, but this is just generally for an illustration. i like 3 when it comes to the top, but i dont like the skirt the more i think abt it. its not horrid, but not sumthing i think she'd actually wear. 2 is,,, okay? i think. not bad, not a fave. 4 is simply a doodle, and i like the skirt colors but thats it. idk wjat i was doin with the top colors. this is a simple concept i did for fun so i didnt include any shading or even lineart and my other work looks vry different but yk.

I’m not home to look at my copy so I rlly have no like personal opinion on it but I will say as consumers of a very expensive product ur absolutely allowed to have concerns abt it especially quality wise and idk how much it would help but it may be worth it to email bh!!!!! but I’m sorry tho bubs :-( we can only hope they hear people’s concerns for next time and if they don’t then of course u don’t have to buy anything ya know then maybe they’ll notice djdndndn

im just going to pile these all into one bc they’re sorta related. I think my thoughts on his look overall are i like it, but it doesn’t feel camp to me. and i get that might be controversial but this is just me!! !like personally, im in love with this look, its slick and pretty and detailed and being a harry fan i can see how it’s a risk from his Personal style, and how he really curated his camp look to reflect him/divert from previous looks. and the blurring of masculinity and femininity is driving me wild!!!! gender!!!!!!!! im never going to shut up abt the lace and his hands!!!!!!

but if i separate that context from my opinion, i do have to say that this look doesnt feel very... camp to me. i was expecting something louder and bolder. seeing Harry L’s quote, i kinda get where he’s coming from bc if they did smth expected like what Darren Criss was wearing, it wouldnt seem that bold.. it would seem like they just did a slightly exaggerated ver of what Harry’s usual campy style is and everyone would be kinda disappointed bc they wouldve wanted something new! So i understand that they had to sidestep that. but i still cant help feeling like..yeah it seems like a better ver of that cody fern look when i kind of wanted something more garish and memorable, esp since he’s a host. ik there’s mixed opinions with the gp not quite liking it but a lot of experts seem to be saying that he killed it bc his blurring of masc/fem is v camp and v on theme which like!! love!! i still cant help feeling a little robbed of him wearing an absolutely bright, loud, gaudy piece. the bottom half of the outfit/black colour scheme/shoes did kinda disappoint me. i rlly dont think he looks “straight” though.. thats reaching.

I actually think my theory abt woozi not knowing abt the redesign is Crucial to the concept of the song *clears throat* so like, mv aside, the whole song “ruby” is obsessed w/ like… ruby and the color red. this person thats making the narrator go crazy over them. however, red isnt just what the person of interest (poi) wears or has (lips)—red is like… symbolic of the attraction itself. it’s what ties them together + reflects them in each other—as many things as the song references I feel like there’s a consistent pattern of the narrator being touched devoured or otherwise connected to red, as much as the poi? special attention to the “I see myself in you” line—the narrator is seeing red, the colour of infatuation, attraction, a children’s hospital (lol)… but like the poi is red, the narrator is red as well. idk mv this was obvious and I’m saying nothing new but like even the whole prechorus w/ the “making me a beautiful jewel” and “every time I look at you, I keep turning red” “go color me like you” so it’s like idk. the way red is literally inescapable and devouring him? the narrators had his heart taken captive so like, because everything about poi is red, everything abt him also becomes red. so like… even a Coke Zero, which hasn’t, until quite recently, become predominantly red, also becomes red… and it’s like. wow even in the most mundane bits of life the red will stay. not only will it stay it’ll change things into red. like idk maybe it’s not that #deep BUT I do think it’s interesting how the narrator has like lyrics of. wow he’s drinking a soda. he refers to the poi as “my forbidden fruit” right like it’s all… there he almost seems to suggest that this sort of obsession or love is some kind of desire that it’s his choice to fall into—a fruit he’s chosen to consume… but if anything, it seems like the other person here is the one consuming him—his attention, his attraction, his love, his vision, etc. ALSO the like sorta edited vocals in the back during his guitar part r like “ruby eyes, ruby ocean […] baby my eyes are ruby” (I hear it as maybe personally but my analysis doesn’t actually change with that) SO. idk I feel like eyes r always important conceptually window to the soul etc etc so I feel like that’s the moment u know like. ok now narrator has become like fully enamoured or whatever. now for what purpose am I saying all of this? well nothing really. but ALSO may I propose ruby: halloween (specifically vampire) ver. everything lines up. blinded by the shine? easy peasy theyre like the twilight sparklepires. ok w/ that joke out of the way lol. uhhh the infatuation situation have where the narrator is being consumed but also is infatuated. same way a vampire might enchant / seduce it’s prey. the forbidden fruit. poi is literally a vampire that’s all very dark and unreachable. but it’s also something u literally can’t reject? the whole go color me like you turning red thing… blood drinking. other vampire motifs u can have a blood moon somewhere too. what is a ruby ocean but blood really. easy. at the guitar solo now the narrator gets to turn into a “ruby” vampire too. ruby lips WOW ITS ALMOST LIKE IF YOU ENGAGE IN DRINKING BLOOD UR LIPS GET STAINED RED… etc etc. ill take my leave now lol ty for ur support once again! also I dunno if it was weird to use narrator and poi instead of like. saying woozis name but I wanted to be formal and like the person singing the song does not always = character / concept theyre embodying hence my choice ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. have a good day/night/ambiguous time of day!

yo!! dunno if u already answered that, but what do u think abt hxh 1999? honestly, i watched 2011 before 1999 but i... love 1999 a bit more. i really love this dark atmosphere and somehow i rlly love the voice actors too? also. the beautiful filler arc, god that was so feels!!! .. i rlly love the 1999 version haha. if u already answered that, feel free to link ur answer >.o and if u havent, im rlly curious abt ur reply!!!

I hadn’t watched 1999 yet but i admit i’m. Not exactly found of what i’ve seen so far. I saw a few scenes here and there, mostly thanks to tumblr, or some scenes people showed me. 

In term of ambiance and atmosphere, i understand why people love it - i’m myself not exactly fan of all of the color palette of 2011, but I don’t get into 1999′s either soo i’m a little torn about it. I think the animation is really great for 1999, and it has some nice fillers i guess. 

 The Voice acting is really great but I personally really love the 2011′s voices too much : i’m seriously in love with the 2011!Kurapika’s voice and even if i find the 1999′s voice amazing, it’s not the same. Leorio, in 2011, is voiced by a seiyuu who’s work i’m a fan of, and the VA of Gon and Killua make such a good job I have a hard time with getting involved in the new voices. Hisoka’s va was incredible in 1999 (for the record, he ended up voicing Pariston in 2011), but I find the 2011 version to be closer from the character and far more threatening. (the only reason i’m actively mentioning the VA is that i watched the musical and got accostumed to their voices, but it still doesn’t work as much for me)

But I’m a manga purist. I’ve always been a lot more based on the manga and I admit i really cringe to major changes, even if they’re not bad.  (hell i complain about the very few things 2011 changed all the time. I seriously complain all the time. Even changes that are actually cute like how they added the 50 hours in the tower, i still bitch about it and how the slight change they made to canon to make it worse lessened the impact of a latter scene.).

Fanservice is all fine and great but Idk, i’m in here because of the manga storyline, not exactly for what’s added in general. I don’t actively like fanservice. It makes me roll my eyes more than anything. 

From what I’ve seen, there’s a few things I don’t exactly like. Killua is a little different and everytime i see something especially in the early arcs, I feel really like it’s not exactly the Killua I like. There’s seriously scenes i’ve seen of him in 1999 that I can’t stand and that I don’t find endearing at all, especially in comparaison to his manga’s counterpart.

While I understand that the story felt the need to add, say, Gon’s breakdown after Hisoka saved him in the forest and Kurapika’s meltdown after killing Uvogin, I think it’s a little overkill in comparaison to how the manga handled it. (That being said the Kurapika’s meltdown is at least well, based on some details that even the 2011 anime overlooked. I can see it happen. But I still prefer the subtility of the 2011 anime that fits much more the manga’s tone. And it’s not that it’s absent, it’s just that it’s subtle. For Gon’s though, I really think this is ways too much.)

And I’m sorry i’m terrible, but i’m not exactly found of most of the leopika fanservice? A few things i’ve seen plays a lot on tropes i don’t exactly like, and it’s not like 1999 includes the scenes from the manga that made me love them to start with. (which is also so unreal to me bc once someone told me a lot of people say they like Leopika only because of 1999 and i’m just like. What. No. Why. The manga is great it doesn’t need..... *waves* this. I like the concept say of the phonecall at the end of the show to be sweet (even if... kinda laughable to me) and i like Leorio worrying about Kurapika or Kurapika smiling at him (okay that I can get behind) but some stuff....... I just can’t.)

And mostly I admit I grew a little irrited at this version after a lot of people i’ve seen tried to bring down the 2011 anime in regard of the 1999 anime, and usually that’s the worst because if it starts to seriously irritate me, i end up turning this irritation on the show rather than the fans (usually if i really dislike stuff, this is because of how it had been compared to stuff i like). Because like, the 1999 anime is really not sticking to canon all that much, the changes it does to the characters ends up affecting the storyline, that they want it or not, and that’s the kind of things that usually tickles me the wrong way. (and in the wrong way also when 2011 does that don’t get me wrong, but it’s not as much as in 1999.)

One day I’ll need to seriously watch the show and maybe those stuff will be better for me once in context and once I will be detached enough from the manga to get into it, but so far i have ways too much irritation over it. One of the only scene I really liked in the 1999 vers more than 2011 so far is Kurapika’s reaction to the auction for the eyes, but that’s it.  I’m glad they kept some stuff like the door trials that the 2011 anime completely glossed over, and that at least this version of the anime respected Leorio as a character (fuck you 2011), and at least adapted the first chapter correctly.

But overrall, everytime i see something about 1999 I cannot disconnect from the manga and I cannot get into it. I’m too much of a canon!purist for that and I love to think too much about the implications and stuff the manga is hinting at, and i don’t like how some changes just, change the narrative around or change those hints. (which is a problem i also have with some scenes of 2011, but like, i complain about maybe 5% of the 2011 anime, the stuff that angers me in the 1999 anime takes...a  lot more of the anime.)

Then again, I know it’s because I love the manga too much and think too much about it. One day if i am in a mood to disconnect from the manga, i’ll try to watch 1999. It’s just another interpretation. Hell I enjoyed watching the Musical while it was not exactly in the spirit of the manga (.... then again the Musical didn’t pretend to be as such), so i should seriously give a try to 1999. 

I don’t think i’ll ever get to really think i prefer it to 2011 though since I care about canon much more than fanservice and filler. 

But I know that’s just me, I know that’s because of how and what i like about the manga to start with. I totally get why people love 1999, I truly do, this is a great show.

I just personally can’t.
