hi hello so I was thinking about Givenson right & it kinda spiraled so here have this somewhat unhinged headcanon:

I love Married Givenson, but also I love Basically Married Givenson too as in they're clearly in love & committed to each other they've just never bothered with the paperwork & so I imagined Tim picking up a young Willa from a playdate or school or something & when the adult in charge asks who Tim is in relation to her Willa just says "he's our Tim" as tho it explains it (bc to her does) & Tim being well Tim instead of clarifying by saying he's Raylan's partner or boyfriend, he says something ridiculously untrue & it causes a bit of an incident that Raylan or Winona has to clear up but it makes Willa laugh so it becomes a game between the two of them for like years just coming up with increasingly weird or ridiculous answers esp as Willa gets older ("he was a feral child raised by rabid squirrels that my dad rescued once so now he looks after me to pay off his life debt" "rabid squirrels was a nice touch" "thanks figured wolves would be too much of a cliche for you") & it drives Raylan crazy but he's also a little bit weak for seeing his 2 favorite people having fun together so he mostly just lets it go (except for the time Tim straight up says "I'm her daddy's sugarbaby" & it causes more chaos than Raylan was prepared for, the worst of which is trying to find a way to explain to his 8yr old what the hell a sugarbaby is while Tim is in the background trying & failing to hide his laughter).

But then maybe, for the angst of it all, one or both starts to worry or get insecure that maybe not being married does bother the other?? Like Tim wonders if Raylan wants it but doesn't want push or pressure Tim so he's just like settling & Tim isn't giving him enough?? Or something?? Throw in the always present worry in the back of his mind of whether he's doing right by Willa & it becomes a whole Thing for a bit but eventually they talk about it & it winds up being lovely and sweet actually ("I don't need a piece of paper or a ceremony or hell even a declaration to know what you are to me. I don't mind one way or another, so if it's important to you then it's important to me. And sure there's some logistical things I guess that it would make easier. But you don't have to prove anything to me or anybody else. I'm yours and you're mine, and as long we both know that, that's enough for me. I swear to God, Tim, that's enough for me.") Willa just chucks a pillow at his head & rolls her eyes like "you're ours Tim, you always have been, so what if no one else outside of the family understands what that means because you're not technically my stepdad or whatever, we know what we mean to each other so stop being stupid and worrying about it" or something like that & Tim doesn't cry or anything but he smiles & hugs her & laughs when he sees that Raylan's maybe a little misty eyed so naturally Tim & Willa tease him for it because giving Raylan a hard time is their favorite pastime. (Tho Willa definitely uses the "he's my daddy's sugarbaby" line at some point when she's older because she thinks it's hilarious & Raylan nearly chokes on his coffee & Tim just throws his head back & laughs).

sorry this is so long & rambly & is probably silly & out of character maybe idk & like if it's super weird to just dump this in your inbox but I was overcome with Givenson feelings & thought of you so um yeah here???

not weird at all. i'll always approve of givenson in my ask box. sorry it took me a while to get around to answering though, my life has a lot of ups and downs and it was super down for a while. but i'm happy to finally have the time to share this with the givenson gang :)

i'm of the belief that tim would never take on a fatherly role to willa (she already has Raylan and Richard for that). he seems much more the type to be the non-judgmental but responsible adult figure that willa can confide in when she hates her parents or is scared to tell to them something. and i don't think tim would be "uncle tim" or anything like that either.

he's just tim to her.

Hey again. Just read the latest chapter, and umm idk how to feel. It was nice to get some more insight into Ferid and see how even as a teen he was always just ~ like that™️. But, I’m a bit taken aback by the implication that Crowley might be Ferid’s reincarnated brother?? Bc to me it read like that was either the 440th person he killed or 440th time he killed his big bro. And knowing Ferid, 440 does not seem like a high enough body count. But idk maybe the brother flashback isn’t related to Crowley at all and is just used to establish a pattern? Regardless, rip to Crowley, Chess, and Horn.

Plot relevant things aside young prince Ferid with his classic ponytail bow was adorable, still unhinged, but also pretty adorable.

I get that. Personally I'm kinda angry about it.

You're right in that it was nice to get some insight into Ferid, but I don't know if that was worth the trade off of what we got. What the HELL do you mean that named characters that were prominent at one point (even if it wasn't THAT prominent) got killed OFF SCREEN with no indication that this was the case up until now. I would probably be fine about it if we'd had ANY foreshadowing about it, but no. Instead they disappeared without explanation and then are just declared dead. Their disappearance didn't even ring as that weird since Ferid, and therefore Crowley since he's following him around, are up to things that aren't popular with the majority of the vampire population. I remember mentioning that they hadn't shown up in a long time semi recently in one of these, but the reason I hadn't harped on it as much as someone like Narumi is bc they disappeared at a natural point instead of in the middle of the arc. I'm getting side tracked though. Ultimately, this felt INCREDIBLY dumb and a bit like Kagami just wanted to kill them off since he had no further purpose for them. If you're going to do that, at least HINT that the fact that they haven't shown up in a bit is weird. I just. oooough. I'm talking in circles. But yeah. Imagine if this happened to Rene and Lacus too :) (likely won't since Lacus has that whole thing with Yoichi).

I also find it annoying that Crowley was killed with so little fanfare. I get that it's because of the whole vampires have no feelings thing, but still. It's just insane to kill a character who has been around for so much of the story like that. It really makes Crowley come off as a plot device for Ferid's story rather than anything of real importance outside of that. Without the added context from the Mikaela light novel spin off (which reminder, still hasn't been finished) he feels like there's just so little going on with him other than his relationship with Ferid. Don't get me wrong. I think Crowley is a fun character, which is why I think this is just doing him so dirty. Was I asking for some drawn out fight between him and Ferid before he was killed? No, not really. I just find the situation of Ferid killing him off at all kinda dumb. idk. I have no suggestions about what I'd like to see. It just... wasn't that. Maybe I'll feel better about it later if his death is revealed to be more plot relevant.

ANYWAYS! I better move on before I'm here all night. ...Okay but last thing. YET A FUCKING GAIN we're jumping from one subject to another JUST to draw out some reveals and give us more questions. I'm going to pull my hair out lol. I really shouldn't be surprised that the second Shinoa starts diving into The First's memories we flip to this scene. I have a bit of a feeling that it's because she's going to learn what the audience already knows, but I just don't get why that wasn't lumped into the previous chapter. Would have felt much better if we'd just started this chapter with Ferid and Crowley. I guess page count could have factored in but... just feels like maybe you could have cut down some of the last chapter to make space for this. Ah... but maybe I'm just being a hater at this point. Anywho...

I too was wondering if that was the implication, but yeah, the number tripped me up. That DOES seem too frequent to be his brother, so I'm also wondering if that's the number of people he's killed. Yes, it seems a little low, but maybe that's people he's killed with a specific purpose in mind. Ones that tie into that rebirth mentality he has going on here. I'm sure we'll find out eventually. It does seem like we need more context to figure out what it is exactly Ferid is doing. Maybe he IS just killing people because he feels like it's time for them to go, but you'd think that he wouldn't bother to count them. Who knows.

Okay, maybe I'm just imagining it but I SWEAR we'd seen a younger Ferid design before at SOME point, but for the life of me, I can't remember where. Something about him talking about how he was a Mikaela candidate too or something like that? I bring it up to say that I swear we've seen a Ferid design somewhat similar to this before, but regardless, you're right. It is nice to see that design and that he really doesn't seem to have changed much over the years. Vampirisim apparently didn't change him.

MENTION OF TORTURE... NOT IN THE WAY YOU WOULD THINK THOUGH- READER IS AGED UP, SCHOOL = SOMETHING LIKE UNIVERSITY IDK- NOT PROOFREAD FOR NOW BECAUSE IM IN TOO MUCH PAIN, mention of the word : heck and hell

Summary: Just look at the part plz, this intro is getting too long-

You came back home safely. It felt as you went on a normal walk although, you had a particular destination that was not related to school at all. To you it felt just like a normal walk but instead of merely walking alone, you were with somebody to which you could interact with!

You decided to go on Zandik s' account, you remember not seeing any post, instead he only got tagged by accounts that you didn't care much about. The reason why they appeared on post/tagged was basically out of honor of sort. Heck, the Snezhnayan government even mentioned him on their post about how some particular doctor of theirs had figured a discovery that they'll look into professionally. Theirs? What did they mean by theirs? Did Zandik work for them. Already, you heard how the training to just become a soldier there was torture. Huh, good for him then. He was able to go through the stress of becoming a Doctor at the most demanding Akademiya AND he was able to put up with straight up torture the training gave him. You knew people were serious when they said you'll most likely die at the trainings then when you're actually at war. The Fatui had to set up their own healing buildings near their departments due to how many soldiers get ALMOST fatally injured. But yet, you found it weird. Neither did being a trainee in the Fatui nor did being a student at Sumeru Akademiya give you any breaks, so how did he manage to accomplish both and succeed further on. He looked young, possibly in his twenties. So, he couldn't really graduate and go straight to the Fatui. Since, trainings take 3 months to do since soldiers have to get to go in their camps in their group.

They take about a week if their lucky to walk to a certain destination in the middle of nowhere, yet they also have to go through the heavy snow, the icy wind while wearing a uniform almost made for the summer. They also have to go through storms on flat terrains which end in to soldiers getting electrocuted, through avalanches if their route makes them go by the edge of mountains during a storm. Then they get to site, yet you also have to know they are carrying all of their materials, even whatever they'll use as shelter and food to which they have to unpack and build on whatever terrain was given to them, whether it's bumpy or not, they decide whether they want to sleep in their sweaty uniform in a somewhat secured space or outside during maybe storms since that is the most frequent disaster experienced on a daily basis by the land of Snezhnaya itself.

After that torture, the next day they'll have to wake up early, most soldiers in training get 5 hours of sleep at that time. And then, for about more then two months wit their commander they'll have to go on expedition all while going through courses such as going on one without wearing any form of shoes or socks, they'll have to use weapons against enemy camps. If they get hurt, they have to wait to get healed only after they get back to camp, which leads to infections. They are forced to swim through cold lakes in the early morning when the temperatures are at their coldest. So on and so on.

So basically, now you kind of had an idea that one maybe he didn't work at all. But, on that particular post, they mentioned "past soldier" then they tagged his "@". And, you can't really join before the time you're officially an adult so basically older than 18 years of age. You decided that nothing really peeked your interest so you decided to see who was following him.

Huh.

How?

How was a harbinger following him if he was some random Fatui soldier? Was it usual for the 9th to follow all sorts of Fatui soldiers..? Maybe the ones he trains..? No, the 9th doesn't train since he doesn't fight...

Maybe the one who takes the 9th place of the 11 Fatui Harbingers, used to be a Student at that Akademiya. Both of them looked around the same age and both of them were smart enough to be at least decent at that school. But, wasn't there a rumour that Pantalone grew up poor, the fees of that school have a price that not just anybody can afford, unless they have a scholarship. But only those seen as "average" get them.

But, although the possibilities were rare... Could Zandik and Dottore be the same person all at once?

It would make sense though since, Zandik only said he went to the Akademiya. He never said if he graduated from it though. And Dottore has is past sort of well known to those whose work has been somewhat related to his. Now most people know that he was expelled from that Akademiya for his inhuman experiments but, one of the higher harbingers, supposedly the first, gave him the opportunity to continue testing those blasphemous theories of his.

But, it was late. You didn't want to ask him any questions. Maybe you'll ask him tomorrow at his lab.

huge shocker - it’s lizzie🥰🥰🥰. i said this in my previous ask on which character i’m most like, and again it’s bc i find her relatable in a way. but other than that i just . idk love her character sm. i love how she tries to act all tough and like her mother but she’s actually just a sweetheart that wants friends and she just misses her mother and her homeland :(. that being said i love her character in the book just a little bit more than the show bc she feels more unhinged and i love it. and u can also properly see her development from wanting to be this isolated powerful queen to finally opening up to others. in the show i feel like it’s such a jump from her screaming Off With Your Head to everything and then spring unsprung she’s suddenly a sweetie that wants to design clothes for her friends. which isn’t necessarily a criticism bc i get that briar helped her realise she doesn’t have to follow her mother exactly, i just prefer how it’s portrayed in the book more. also am obsessed with her character design it’s just . so good.

2. darling. the charming twins both being my second favs is funny but yea she’s also cool and she is so badass in her book. but also a very considerate person especially when it comes to her brother . love her

3. maddie!! the silliest of girls. the show doesn’t expand on her more than the comic relief best friend but she is soo cool in the book especially when she has to take over for the narrator. that was a fun time. she’s just so cutesy and i love her

I'm having a full-on breakdown about DC comics characters 24/7 for the past week I've imprinted very hard on one specific character and I'm trying to build my understanding off of fanfics and online friends and this has sent me into an absolute SPIRAL thinking about sibling dynamics

so how's about uh,,, dya remember my post the other day about MCR's Surrender the Night? yeah this song is killing me bc like. it just feels like the push and pull of dysfunctional but still determinedly loving sibling relationships, which are always the best. just like, trying to pull rank but,,, in a loving way (@brown-little-robin idk if this makes sense but for some reason whenever I hear this song it makes me think of Jason and Dick????)

also as Gracie pointed out Famous Last Words was actually hecking written from one brother to another so that adds A LOT MORE FEELINGS to this one (once again Robin will understand: this is on my very small and very intense Jason playlist adkdjalfh bc I process things by making playlists about them-)

also @disco-tea sent me this panel of a DCU comic and I uh... yeah I feel. Fine. about this. but that's like, a trademark Dana Scully "I'm fine," which is to say, I'm absolutely coming apart at the seams

also just thinking about your OCs and my OCs, because we both have at least one significant sibling pair — mainly lately I've been thinking about Yancy and Sumako, bc their dynamic just inexplicably means SO MUCH to me, they love each other so much and they're actually like, a somewhat normal/well-adjusted pair of siblings (compared to a lot of others lol) and I love to see that, they just. have fun!! and care for each other!!! and would die for each other in a heartbeat but not in an angsty way, just in a way that's been a complete given since the moment Sumako was born and will continue to be a given for the rest of their lives; simple unquestioned fact, no shadows attached.

and then MY sibling pair, Dany and her younger sister (who is currently being called either Cassidy or Carissa?? I haven't decided yet tbh) who are separated for like, over a year and are a significant portion of each other's primary motives behind... A Lot of things they do, but at the same time, they don't even get along that well. they have such totally different ways of going about things that often they're at odds even though they Get Each Other more than most people probably do??? and once Dany reaches her destination (wherever her family is) the two sisters have to reckon with the fact that they both, but mostly Dany, have CHANGED. A lot. Carissa has to deal with the fact that the sister she has now isn't the same one she had Before. neither of them always handles it totally well skdfjskfjsjwf

a lot of this is also probably initially instigated (or at least planted in my head a tad bit) by the fact that I've watched FX's The Bear nearly two times (i have one episode left to rewatch shhh) and the primary underlying struggle of that series is that the main character is dealing with the loss of his older brother and a strained relationship with his older sister (amongst other things, but I'm not giving you the whole schpiel rn lol). oh and one of the other main relationships in the show is the main character's really weird friend/family thing with his dead brother's former best friend, it's absolutely fascinating tbh. as several other people have said, in a way, it's a ghost story. the narrative is haunted by the loss of a brother.

Top seven of Arcaina Project + Tales Untold characters that Give! Me! Life!

You know those bitches that decide to make a top five of a mutual’s characters? Yes you do. Because I am bitches.

I was only going to do 5 but I ended up with 7 because… look, @nyxcharliechaos has a lot of babs and ITS HARD FOR ME TO CHOOSE ALREADY OK??? Also Tumblr started glitching as soon as I got to 7 images… that too.

Also, this is in no real order. It’s already hard to pick favourites, don’t make me rank them!

One more thing- admittedly this will be biased towards characters I know/remember more about. In case you haven’t caught on to how fucking unhinged this is going to be, it’s not going to be judging characters on quality. Anyways, y’all ready to be bitches with me?

1. Lucy

See tall person in picture above

First, I think Lu was the first of Charlie’s characters I ever drew (I drew her looking like a hedgehog slurping noodles), so already some minor nostalgia vibes. I also like the one, emo-scene raccoon stripe hair piece she’s got. She’s actually got some low key late 2000s scene kid hair that’s kind of a vibe. The relationship between her and Nyx is extremely cute, and while I would have maybe made her look more muscular, you could argue that her… less than ideal eating habits would probably make it harder to develop muscle. Also she needs earrings. Don’t ask me why. She just does. I’m getting the vibe she needs earrings.

2. Nyx (shorter character in image above)

Probably the second character I ever tried to draw. Also a character that has appeared in various rps to commit various shenanigans. Given the backstory they’ve got, I do enjoy the puppet motif they’ve got in their design and powers a lot. I also think it’s neat that given how nobody else in the Arcaina Project looks like Nyx, no matter what colour their hair + eyes change to (and they change a lot) you can still tell that yeah, it’s Nyx and not some other bitch. Their deadpan reaction to more exuberant characters is a lot of fun, and overall it seems like they’ve got some pretty cool character arcs planned out

3. Molly

Look, I’m someone who already tends to like characters like Molly, and based on RPs and arts and whatnot, Molly just seems like fun. I also love the clothing choices, and the overall craziness going on personality wise. Not much to say, admittedly, it’s just a case of “yeah, I like em”. Although I think Molly, being the mad hatter’s kid, should have a hat made out of Campbell’s Soup cans. Idk, I just think it’s a good idea.

4. Virgil

Firstly, yes bitch, work that makeup. Now that’s out of the way, I do like the colour pallet of a bunch of dark colours then just one super bright pink that often gets used. Like with Nyx, since nobody else in Arcaina really has that going on with them, you can just slap hot pink next to a black and it’s like “oh yeah, fucking Virgin Creek, let’s go”. I think I like Virgil most based off of RPs he’s been in, and some of the stories he’s been in I’d say have been some of Charlie’s best, so… yeah. Also he eats cardboard. Automatic fav.

5. Odd

Frankly, I think I just relate to Odd in an oddly specific way, pun intended. Like… I get the reason she sleeps a lot is bc health issues, but like…. Listen, if you’ve ever done ballet, you KNOW what it’s like to wake up the next morning feeling like you’ve been hit by a fucking truck. I nearly typed trucking fuck. Whatever. Anyways, I do like the design and this may sound… odd, but I like the eyes. I noticed during an art I did of Odd that her eyes are a neat mix of brown and green. Also she has ice cream hair.

…. I mean… am I wrong???

6. Rowan

I think a lot of my enjoyment of Rowan comes from RPs, what with the shenanigans of them trying to hide that they’re part wolf and all. I also like that they have this kinda fancy, fantasy-ish cloak and hood that has this little red Diamond on it… then just clothes you’d find at the Gap. Idk, I just find it amusing for some reason. Also wolf canines are pretty neat, and I do like the hair… except when I’m doing an art with Rowan in it, and I actually have to draw it. i havent seen most tmnts, so i don't know if i have a single favorite across All iterations, exactly, but i can name my favorite one(s) from the ones ive seen! (which are rise, MM, and 87)

(i need to watch more but there's scheduling conflicts with friends and sitting down to watch new stuff is so hard sometimes WAH)

23. If you could have a tmnt crossover with ANY other series, which would it be?

oooh that's a tough one. i feel like tmnt could make for some really fun crossovers with both other superhero series, and also series either based in NYC or having to do with like. weird scifi/fantasy/supernatural stuff. there's a LOT of like. aliens and robots and magic stuff in tmnt, (like WAY more than i expected going into the 87 show after rise) so i feel like a lot of stuff could be twisted to work well

ive seen some really good rise crossovers with marvel/dc, a few really fun danny phantom crossovers, and even a couple with gravity falls. ive ALSO seen a couple with sonic and some of them make me laugh so hard reading the summary that i don't think i'd be able to read them lol. the first fic i ever read with tmnt in it WAS actually a sonic crossover (that i read on ffn waaaaaay back in the day) so in a way it's like returning to my roots lol

i love seeing specific crossovers of my interests so if i see one that grabs my attention im all over it lol

more specifically, i would love to see a crossover with rise of the tmnt and american dragon jake long, and it's like. a future project of mine. i've been talking about it with a friend and telling her for Months that they have a lot in common and it would make for an interesting fic. there's some serious potential there i think!!

(on a more theoretical note, ive also done some really light brainstorming/daydreaming about a potential rise/undertale crossover bc i think it'd make for some neat scenarios lol)

Oh sense s4 is obviously not gonna give me any more good content for my girls, I thought I'd rank them based on how much I subjectively like them ^^

Musa: This one is obvious. Musa is very clearly my favorite girl... She's so pretty y'all, and she reminds me a lot of myself?? She's very relatable and in s1-2 she has almost all of my favorite outfits. Musa's sense of humor is absolutely peak as well. I love how she's both kinda upright about school rules but also clearly wants to challenge every soical convention. "Cheating on tests? Why, academic dishonesty only harms you. Follow the dress code? Fuck you fight me." Musa is also a bit unhinged, she wakes up and chooses violence. I esp love how a lot of her stuggles are her own emotions...girl me too

Stella: Stella is best girl. She's my second favorite but she's also best girl. She's funny, she's pretty, she has a deep emotional side? Get you a girl that can do it all. I really love how Stella functions 100% on emotions, girl will not give up on her friends/boyfriend for nothing. Stella is that bitch, she has probably punched one of the Trix before and I love her for it. Not to mention how confident she is while also being super insecure, that complexity is such an amazing layer to her personality

Aisha: Aisha reminds me of my mom but like with more of my personality. My mom is veteran and ultra protective and Aisha free climbing a palace to save the pixies? Hell or high water, Aisha never gives on someone she loves. Her strength is contrasted with her anxiety and I love that?? Aisha is the epitome of the mom friend anxiety override, and I love her for it. Tho my favorite part of her is how she goes into her own little world when she dances, she feelin herself, everyone else can leave this is her dance floor. Also Aisha's fashion being girly sports champion is so good

Bloom: I have a lot of thoughts and feelings about Bloom but that mostly bc she's the main character. Like Bloom has so many interesting things about her, I esp love the Roxy parallel and the idea of her having to take responsibility in a culture she's never seen before. It's sooo interesting. I wish the weird art girl thing was leaned into more, oh and Bloom's anger. Bloom growls at people and I respect that. Aside from that I'm kinda meh on Bloom, I don't dislike her but she doesn't make me think about her for multiple hours on end like everyone above her does

Tecna: if Tecna wasn't surrounded by characters that all act like her (Timmy and Digit) and didn't have one character arc she keeps repeating (learning to be more emotional) she'd be higher than Bloom. I love the concept of Tecna! Autistic girl is always connected to the internet, ostracized by all her peers she develops a hard outer shell and a strange way of communicating because she was nomrally around adults. Like? Yes, amazing. We were robbed of seeing Tecna's Omega Dimension adventure. I wish more of her dorky side was shown, the mini winx thing is adorable and her clear love of romance once she starts expressing herself is do cute

Flora: if Flora kept her mad scientist traits I would like her more, but after s1 Flora was like just kinda sweet. Also her being super shy around Helia felt ooc to me?? Idk Flora seems to be the most self secure of the girls, and she's also completely unafraid to mock and sass people, I could see her being shy but not that shy... I simply do not think about her all that much 😔

i know it’s inevitable people make comparisons between word of honor and cql .. what do you think about the similarities and / or differences between the two? personally cql had a HUGE impact on me and basically i fell in love. so wanted to see what u thought of WOH! ❤️

hiii anon!!! oh man. if i had to pick one .... i think it'd be word of honor. not that i didn't love cql, bc boy i Did. but .. idk. word of honor just .... it entices me a little bit more. and i've really really been impressed by woh.

the pacing of woh, for me personally, is much more suited to my taste? sometimes when i watch(ed) cql, i felt like some eps were a drag and just ... so hard to finish. but woh's pacing is really ... nailed to perfection. its fast but there's no skipping over details, so that things make sense. the scenes are ordered really well, so that there isn't too much focus or saturation of one character or one thing. also, where cql didn't really .... ya know .... care much for the women (something that was a reaaally big pet peeve of mine), woh so far has been so solid, and its been SO GOOD to see women fighting!!! and coming out on top!!!! and being resolute and adamant and twisted and loud and sinister but soft and innocent and caring and loving and fiercely loyal too!! apart from that, there's the obvious similarities and differences that i've talked about here!

and idk i just really Love how morally gray every single character is tbh. i really really love that. it makes them feel more well-rounded and ... human and relatable??? no character is good nor bad nor righteous nor downright evil. they're all messy as hell and greedy and do shady things or have blood on their hands and have motives and are selfish (apart from chengling bc he's just!! a lost innocent 14 year old!!! orphaned boy!!!! thrown into the political scene of the martial arts world!!! and is used as a pawn by everyone!!!!). some regret what they've done, like zishu, whilst others, like kexing, don't give a damn and are shameless about their good and their evil (where, the show so well strikes the perfect balance between his downright unhinged murder bloodlust side and his softer, kind-hearted, nurturing and loving side - kexing could have so easily been a caricature of a flat 2D villain but no ... he isn't - and credit to gong jun's acting for that!!!), but even then, kexing doesn't want innocent people to be hurt, and wants to hurt those who hurt him. eye for an eye. makes the whole world blind, yes, but that's the ethos of this show. that's what the show is tryna get at. and at some point the cycle's gotta stop and one has to be the bigger hearted one of the 2 to back down and let the resentment and hurt and anguish go.

also i reeeeally love just how much focus the found family of kexing, zishu, chengling and gu xiang get and just how much time and attention and love and growth is given onscreen to their dynamics as a 4, and how they operate together as a family of 4, right from the very start of the show. they're a mess individually, but together, they work like a well oiled machine.

and finally, the romance? the way it's told?? the way it's shown?? the romance is just ... they've really tried so so so hard to find every possible breakthrough and creative way to give us as much as they can, every single episode, with c*nsorship on their backs. and ugh both zhang zhehan and gong jun are just ..... SO SO good in those scenes. neither one backs down and they give it their all.

but like, obviously both shows are great and are their own separate entities that have given us a lot of joy and something to be so passionate about! its a great thing to have them both - whether you like one only, or both!

Hi! Thinking of Dumbledore + Sirius, do you think Sirius would feel sympathy for Dumbledore if he knew about how torn he was btw his siblings + feeling trapped? I judged him harshly at first, but now I think about the difficulty about losing both parents + sibling, but not wanting to sacrifice everything to step in as parent + guilt that comes with that. I do think Dumbledore loved his siblings + I was happy when his bro said he did a good job with their sis before her death.

hi! this is an interesting one hm

the thing abt dumbledore is that i’m pretty sympathetic to him all things considered- i’ve never really taken the time to explain my feelings about him on here but i definitely don’t think he’s snape levels of “fandom should see he’s irredeemably terrible!”, though i have a lot of qualms about him. he’s certainly not the hero rowling thinks he is, but he’s also not the guy rita skeeter says he is, to put it succintly.

on the one hand, i do think canon mostly fails to acknowledge that he was very manipulative/calculating and made a lot of very cold (or just plain terrible) choices- everything to do with sirius, for one, as well as the whole dursley situation. i know there’s a couple of reasons harry had to live with them (supposedly...) and i can’t be bothered to go into them, but even then i never understood why he couldn’t have done to petunia what he does in OOTP (?) sooner- send a letter to scare the shit out of her and remind her to treat harry decently or at least leave him to his own devices. like, there was so much he could have done in the years between the potters’ deaths and hogwarts- that squib neighbour was already spying/reporting for him, so he was fully aware of it all, idk. i just find that whole thing exemplary of his callousness. it’s more unforgivable to me than raising harry knowing he might need to die for the cause- because that was necessary to defeat voldemort, but giving harry an escape from abuse was so avoidable. his handling of other characters also doesn’t paint him in the best light, sirius as most obvious suspect- there’s a good piece on tumblr about sirius being a liability in his eyes because he’s not loyal to dumbledore or his cause above all else, but to the potters (and ultimately harry) and his own code, and i really think it’s the best reading of dumbledore’s handling of sirius in OOTP, because i always found that kind of insane. it’s brain-dead obvious that the worst thing to do with sirius (especially if you were worried about his unhinged state and whatnot) would be sticking him in grimmauld place- even if they had to keep him hidden, they could have let him floo between order hideouts! see other people! prowl london as a dog! it’s insane that dumbledore of all people would be that dumb about it, so it makes the most sense to me as him locking sirius up where he’s the most contained.

on the other hand, dumbledore was both a quirky schoolmaster and a wartime militia leader, and i think a lot of the weirdness in his character is bc rowling set out to write a much more child-like series than she ended up writing. dumbledore is a pretty iconic guy in the books, manipulations included- he’s such a chessmaster, and he has flair, as kingsley would put it. most importantly he clearly tries very hard to orchestrate the best possible outcome for the entire world- not based on arbitrary beliefs or personal whims, but because he’s sort of the main bastion of hope in the wizarding world. i don’t necessarily think his actions in this context are all excusable, but he’s a war-time leader, and pretty much knows it’s all down to him- although the order is certainly competent, it’s a very ragtag group of people dumbledore holds together, and in terms of skill, knowledge and aura he’s their biggest asset. he’s already been through a wizarding war where he probably set out to murder the love of his life, another wizard supremacist wackjob! we know he’s long past egoism- he’s genuinely For The Greater Good, and he clearly cares about harry; his choices are undoubtedly not made lightly. it’s also important to note just how bad wizarding society as a whole is on these issues- even the most muggle-friendly wizards are remarkably ignorant about them (arthur weasley), and everyone else is at least marginally bigoted; bigotry is built into the fabric of their society, and their government is extemely complacent/corrupt, so the order and their ilk are very much on their own, while people like the malfoys are tolerated despite the open secret of their wartime alliances. dumbledore has a tough job, and he doesn’t know all the things the reader knows. so i think the op-eds calling him Just As Bad As Voldemort or whatever are missing any nuance.

then we get into dumbledore’s backstory. it explains a lot about him, i think. it’s interesting to me that he’s so consistent as a character- he has always been about The Greater Good, and he’s always had an ego, but as a child he let the latter dictate the former and as an adult he forever attempted to substract it from himself lest he repeat the same mistakes. some more questionable rep from ms rowling in having her (1) gay character be the guy literally seduced into wizard supremacy by his evil boyfriend, but i always liked that beat of a very isolated extremely intelligent character drawn into a warped sense of righteousness- it’s also very consistent of dumbledore to believe he’s doing the best for someone when he’s not really thinking about that at all, which is the case with his sister. obviously his family’s story is tragic, and then he gets pulled into this fake vision of a better world, validated in his brilliance, and then there’s his mother’s death, and then his sister, and suddenly it’s all come crashing down and he spends the next years of his life slowly realizing he’s the only one who can stop a project he might have been overseeing once. aberforth lays into him for it, and fair enough, but jesus, what a shitty spot to be in fresh out of hogwarts. i don’t know if it’s because i’m an older sibling, but i can understand the horrible burden of knowing that it’s always on you to think of yourself second, even when you’re inches away from the best thing in your life.

getting sidetracked- the question was about sirius and dumbledore. the thing abt LMV is that i try to keep my own opinions out of it; the marauders-dumbledore dynamic is a difficult one. they all respect him endlessly, and in school i think they adored him, but as a wartime leader it gets complicated. i think in canon their relationship was better, just a little strained (and a little more for others) bc of his style of leadership- you know, keeping secrets, playing games etc. in LMV, though, his machinations got them personally into some shit, so i wagered things would be more terse. james i think thinks most positively of him, as he is wont to do so, except where he is somehow at odds with sirius, because his loyalties there are clear and he is far more violently protective of sirius than he lets on. lily is a close second, because she’s a big picture thinker and gets how hard his job is, but she tends to be wary of his reasoning. remus is a more distrustful person by nature, and dumbledore using him for werewolf stuff wears him down. sirius is not a fan of authority, does not like secrets, and hates people using him as a pawn, so things are most strained for him, obviously. i think a lot of dumbledore introspection in LMV is from sirius’ POV, somewhat accidentally, so he gets a harsh rep.

to finally get to the specifics of your question: would dumbledore’s backstory get sirius to sympathise? arguably not much. sirius is a tricky guy, esp because i write him in a period that we know nothing about. he’s not a cocky slightly feral 15 year old, and he’s not a traumatised 30 something prison escapee; i try to get a plausible balance, so i don’t lend sirius in LMV so much of OOTP sirius’ world-weary wisdom. he’s 21, and in a war where the other side are wizard nazis he’s mostly related to somehow; he sees things in blacks and whites almost necessarily. so either you’re good or bad, trustworthy or not. peter crossed the threshold, so he’s dead to him; regulus turned himself in, but he’s one of them, so sirius doesn’t know what to do with him. sirius might understand how hard it is to have younger siblings you love fiercely who don’t understand your commitment to a higher goal, but dumbledore was on the wrong side of things that time, so i don’t think he would draw any sympathetic parallels- i don’t see why he of all people would feel bad for where dumbledore’s youthful aspirations of wizarding supremacy lead him, despite his good intentions. he’s not very forgiving of bigotry, i think especially because he’s cut all ties with his own background so harshly.

tldr; i feel for the guy, and his life was fucked, but sirius probably would not, and dumbledore got enough unwarranted hero worship considering his dodgy actions that i don’t resent sirius for holding that grudge.

Lol ok? Sure. I tend to be a fans of queens who seem really bitchy but are soft inside or ones with a very fluffy persona with an edge to them. That juxtaposition just gets me idk why. Anyways get ready for a 10 para essay. I’ll put it under the cut so I don’t mess up everyone’s dashboard.

1. Manila Luzon. I really slept on her too long. She’d always been like top 15 or 20 but after finally watching s3 simultaneously with as4 and also looking in to her stuff more, I realize she’s very much in my style. And she stole my heart and soul very very fast. She’s creative, funny, beautiful, cute but also annoying and mean lol. But really, she has a very unique style and she’s very clever with it. She knows what looks good and she’s usually the first to do it. Not to mention she’s one of the OG self promotion legends, out here branding and re-branding since 2010. I always respect that.

2. Miss Fame. The height of seeming like someone who is super bitchy only to have a huge heart. She is so passionate about what she does and it’s beautiful. She’s silly and strikingly beautiful. She is probably my fave aesthetically overall. Plus she’s one of the few queens who have truly broken in to the modelling business. I’ll always have a spot in my heart for Miss Fame :p

3. Alaska. She’s got a little bit of everything a modern drag queen should have. From music to merch to tours and television shows, Alaska is everywhere. Literally nobody promotes like she does and she’s extremely smart about it. Not to mention her love of drag is unmatched in the sense that she never really puts down other queens. She’s always supportive. She’s also modest and open to learning and changing with the community. If her drag was a little more in my preferred style, she’d be my number one. Bc of how broad she is in her talents and involvement, plus her positivity and activity, she’s kind of the best overall drag queen honestly??

4. Violet Chachki. I like her for many of the reasons I like Fame tbh. Not to say they are the same but it is also for the sharp style, beautiful faces, being bitchy with a super goofy since, and respect for their modelling careers. With Violet I think her fashion is so amazing, I remember I followed an instagram that posted photoshoots of queens before I’d watched the show and whenever I was like “Who is that omg!!!” it was almost always Violet. She has a good majority of my fave looks on drag queens. But she falls a bit out of my style overall lol. Violet also has that young and relatable thing going on which I dig.

5. Phi Phi O’Hara. Once again someone with a mean side and an adorable side. Somehow she just steals my heart. More when I see a video than a picture I think? Maybe her mannerisms are just like?? Simultaneously hot and cute to me? Spectacular with her 365 days makeup, I know people talk about it a lot but like they should. And in general she’s very unique in her style. I don��t always love her looks tbh but I always love her and in the past year or so it’s only grown. She’s fully broken into the top 10 and even my top 5 now!

6. Jinkx Monsoon. I haven’t been watching as much Jinkx so I’m kind of forgetting about her unfortunately. She’ll probably rise again if I go on a little Jinkx binge. But anyways her classy retro lady vibe is such a good aesthetic. Her love of musical theatre is lowkey inspiring and I love hearing her sing. They way she switches between being a very soft character to a very snarky and unhinged one is great.

7. Alyssa Edwards. My first fave so I’ll always have a place for her lol. I didn’t like her much in s5 but then I watched as2 and seeing how much queens change was what first invested me in following their activities outside the show. By being bold and passionate and increasingly unafraid make fun of herself, she stole my heart. Also watch Dancing Queen thanks bye!

8. Courtney Act. Extremely involved, good at self promotion, beautiful, smart, talented. Courtney is another queen who is good at everything. She uses this platform to educate people outside of and within the LGBT+ community and does her best to be inclusive of any and all gender/sexuality expression. I think that’s very important in today’s drag queen.

9. Bendelacreme. I’ve always loved her. The extreme sweetness with a sprinkle of bitterness is like…very attractive to me. Plus she’s a comedy legend and always has been. Her character of being the positive and bubbly side of herself is inspiring and often played up in a very comedic way. I can’t really describe how much I love it but I do.

10. Katya. It took me a while to figure out who I wanted in this 10 spot and it starts getting pretty tight. But Katya’s always been very smart and aware in the community. I feel like I relate to many things she says and her goofiness is also relatable. I was kinda pissed about what she was saying last year, seemingly reverting her positive and open minded ways, but she’s found herself again and is better than ever. Please listen to her podcast it’s very good.

(Just so you guys know, in my top 20 there’s also Shea, Laganja, Plastique, Bob, Aja, Monet, Sasha, Aquaria, Willam and Shangela. Vaguely in that order)
