I sometimes get uncomfortable around arguments about if certain characters are abusive or not- obviously I see this the most with 2012 tmnt and nobody really needs my opinion but I keep thinking about it so here’s some words to chew on.

Keep in mind I haven’t seen much of 2012 so I’ll mostly be talking about the WAY I see these discussions being had here, rather than the show itself.

I doubt the creators intended for the turtles to be abusive and I kind of just assume that everything they do is within the genre of slapstick kids show. But I also don’t think people who cringe away from the way they treat each other are reading too much into it.

I’ve seen people argue that ppl who think the brothers are abusive just don’t have siblings and that’s an insane take to me. Obviously its probably hyperbole in some instances but as someone with more siblings than most of the people I know, I 100% see the abuse reading of this series. It’s a very obvious idea to latch onto for me as someone who HAS been abused by my siblings- and who’s probably been abusive too.

The main thing that really gets under my skin is when people point out how much the turtles actually care about each other as evidence against abuse. Cause that doesn’t make any sense ??? you can abuse people you love and care about deeply.

And it really rubs me the wrong way when I see a post that’s like Raph can’t be abusive because he does X nice/cute things with Mikey or something like. That’s not how abuse works. You guys have to know that right?? Abuse isn’t just a person being mean 24/7 without pause.

A bit of a tangent coming up, but growing up, I really hated Mabel from gravity falls. not because she is inherently any more annoying or selfish or anything than other characters but because the way she treated dipper was extremely triggering for me as a child with a lot of anxiety. Like if Mabel was real and my sibling, I would’ve considered a lot of the shit she did abusive. Obviously I’m normal about her now cause I’m not 12 anymore but the biggest hurdle about watching that show when I was younger was that I would sometimes be brought to tears of frustration, imagining how scared and distressed I’d be if Mabel did that shit to me.

THE POINT of this tangent is that saying “the 2012 turtles aren’t abusive because I do that stuff with my siblings all the time/cause teenage boys are just like that” isn’t a genuine critique because abuse isn’t just about the action it’s about the relationship. Punching your sibling who’s actually ok with being punched isn’t abuse. Punching your sibling who really doesn’t want you to, and who you KNOW really doesn’t want you to, and who you KNOW would be genuinely upset by being punched? That is abuse.

And I find it annoying because I think we’re all aware that abuse was likely not the intent of the show. (Probably not even the text of the show but once again can’t say for sure) Maybe some dysfunction for drama, but probably not abuse, so you’re really just arguing against someone’s headcanon/personal interpretation of this show. And it’s like.. ok you have a different reading cool I guess.

In the show they aren’t treated as abusive, but fandoms are built around exploring different aspects of art that weren’t explored in canon. So I guess idk why this is a big deal.

Idk I think people have this idea that abusive = evil and always wrong. But abuse is just someone hurting you repeatedly and refusing to stop for whatever reason.

And with a show like 2012 where it’s all played for laughs it can be hard to tell if that’s how they are with each other because they’re ok with it or if that’s how they are cause they don’t know any other way. The turtles are kind of really mean in 2012, and wether that’s a familiarity kind of meanness or not is up to you in fandom, yknow?

Does Mikey actually consider Raph hitting him as like a fun part if their banter or is he coping with jokes about being physically abused? You decide! Like genuinely it can be either and I think that’s fun!

I mean obviously you all know what i’d pick, but that’s because I’m blissfully aware of what I want out of stories and what i want is nuanced discussions of abuse.

Personally, I acted very similarly to the 2012 turtles when living with my siblings, but I didn’t actually fucking like it. It was a defense mechanism because being genuine would only be met with ridicule. So I’m not inclined to agree that it’s fine because it’s just what they do.

Once again though, I doubt it was on purpose. And if you don’t think that they’re abusive then congrats! The show probably doesn’t either! So I just don’t see why people get super upset about it. Don’t you love that someone got a different story out of the same media??

Anyway obviously it doesn’t super matter and I don’t really have a horse in this race. I just got a bit annoyed with the way abuse is discussed and as a hobbyist Abuse Analyst I thought I’d weigh in.

I wrote this instead of going to sleep and it’s sooo late and also so much longer that I meant for it to be… y’all better not have bad takes in response or I’ll be annoyed as hell tomorrow morning, guh.

@okayishalchemist i’m not gonna reblog again bc i’m already embarrassed about making that whole thread on someones art post + it’s not really related to that discussion LOLLL but YES YOU GET IT!!!! rapunzel was NOT responsible for varian the way some ppl seem to think she was….temporary queen doesn’t mean you need to drop EVERYTHING to help one little white boy especially when the entire kingdom is simultaneously in danger….and obviously this isn’t meant to be accusatory and i know i’m literally the only one making it a gender thing, but it just kind of annoys me sometimes because when it comes to the general audience who don’t look much deeper into the situation they ALWAYS side with varian, and act like rapunzel is this horrible person for not helping him….when like lbr if the genders were swapped and this was a man who was asked to help a little girl ppl would NOT CARE!!!! they’d be sympathizing with them if anything!!! like “ohh he’s so sad he couldn’t help that kid :(“ even if his ass did NOTHING. but whatever. that’s for another day and i think i might get bashed for that one so i’ll just leave that there.

idk. it just mildly annoys me sometimes because it feels like people just subconsciously expect female characters to drop everything to help others and be like this unconditional motherly figure. but like rapunzel knew varian for what….3 months??? she met up with him maybe 4 times on screen and maybe like 5 altogether since she knew ruddiger’s name??? i’m all for varian and rapunzel being siblings but she is NOT his mom and i feel like a lot of the argument just boils down to everyone expecting her to be. like sure you can say rapunzel should have done more but like really what ELSE was she supposed to do??? she looked for him and couldn’t find him. she felt totally helpless in the situation, and she probably was trying to ignore it bc she trusted that her parents would solve the issue instead. this situation was the first time rapunzel was really faced with the weight of her new position and the fact that she’d feel overwhelmed and revert to inaction feels completely reasonable to me, and in the beginning of the series she trusted her parents unconditionally and gothel always did everything for her so she probably just assumed that her parents would help where she was unable to. i mean it makes sense right??? why wouldn’t they?????

we saw so much of the conflict from varian’s perspective and it seems like a lot of people just took that 100% seriously despite the fact that he’s a teenage boy who’s dad just basically died LMAO. like obviously his feelings are valid but he is not in the best place to be coming up with logical explanations right now.

ofc this is purely targeted at the people who do look at it from a character perspective rather than a writing perspective and STILL come to the conclusion that rapunzel’s in the wrong because on a writing standpoint i understand just being upset about how it was portrayed. but i feel like some people are just trying to find reasons to hate rapunzel atp and it’s stupid

okay, here’s some hot takes for your wednesday evening:

- honestly, fuck nancy wheeler. i cannot stand her and her holier-than-thou bullshit

- i can’t understand why ppl ship robin/nancy when nancy is only nice to her maybe 10% of the time

- actually, i dislike the entire wheeler family (except holly, bless her)

- mike is so whiny and annoying past s1 and it’s become intolerable. his internalized homophobia mixed with excessive angst is just a no for me. (though, i suppose that’s actually fairly accurate for a 14 y/o boy so rock on, duffers)

- karen wheeler is doing better this season, i guess, but i can’t forgive her for actually considering sleeping with someone the same age as her oldest child. she would have known this, as billy introduces himself as a “friend” of nancy’s in s2. (whether she went thru with it or not, it’s concerning to say the least). i do think she cares about her children ultimately but is deeply unhappy with her life. and given ted wheeler being… ted wheeler, that is understandable. but idk maybe buy a vibrator instead of sleeping with a barely-legal teenager

- steve actually wasn’t an asshole in s1, with the exception of terrible choice in friends and a few out-of-line comments. if someone took a picture of me in a compromising position without my consent, i’d smash their fucking camera myself. steve’s an better person than me for not only buying him a new camera but for letting him think it was nancy. sure, the comments about jonathan’s father and homophobic remarks weren’t okay, but like ?? he did not owe jonathan a new camera or anything rlly and i stand by that

- steve did not spray paint the hawk in s1: it was tommy. we are even shown him doing further vandalism when nancy and jonathan arrive. he was complicit, sure, but he did immediately help to clean it up, split lip and all.

- i’m sorry, but i can’t get past jonathan being a total creep (and not in the good way like our beloved perv!steve hc’s) i can buy the excuse he was looking for will, though why on earth would he have been in steve harrington’s house? more importantly, even if we give him the benefit of the doubt for that, he still should not have developed and kept that picture of nancy. simple as

- that said, natalia and charlie have my heart. this is not a hot take, they’re just adorable <3

Tbh I wouldn't consider hating Apollonia "so much". It's more that I hate Apollonia stans, honestly. 😭 I haven't ever interacted with one that hasn't gone straight to slandering Kay (calling her stupid, ugly, annoying, bratty), hating how independent Kay can be, how Kay actually cares for the wellbeing of her children, and how Kay stands up to Michael's bullshit and lies. 😐 It's not even valid criticism, it's straight up spewed hate and misogynistic comments. This probably stems from their relentless support of Michael getting his way and thriving. If Kay remains quiet and naïve, it fulfils the fantasy of Michael getting what he wants with full support.

Apollonia herself is annoying because she's whiny, immature and naive herself. 🥱 She also isn't entirely the "obedient, Sicilian housewife" the boomers who fawn over her say she is. Knowing Michael's being hunted down and searched for, she still insisted on driving his car and in the book, went against Michael's wishes to stay by his side and relocate villas because they had been too visible in Sicily. Instead, she went to stay at her parents' home for a while and even Michael expressed his disappointment in the book considering she didn't spend a second longer with him in bed after they had sex in the morning knowing it was their last day. She also just packed her things after getting out of the washroom whereas Michael thought they'd spend some time together eating breakfast. 🤔 That kind of behaviour would have killed Apollonia in the US right quick if she didn't already blow to pieces in Sicily, like when Calo mentioned "she'll make a great American wife".

Michael literally was getting the news that Sonny died and things weren't looking too great back home and we got Apollonia whining about driving a car and saying "you promised!". She's extremely annoying and childish. I get that she's literally a teenager but I never supported the whole child marriage thing with Michael anyway. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I cannot stand the idolization of Apollonia because she's quiet, a housewife and submissive to Michael. It absolutely disgusts me tbh. I don't like everything she represents in the film/book. Those would essentially be my reasons. 😌

Thirteen Era Rewatch: Arachnids in the UK

I'm re-watching Thirteen's era in lead up to the Centenary and since this is likely going to be my last full re-watch for a while I thought I'd do a post on each ep where I just go over all the things I love, hate or just have some general thoughts on.

The title of this ep annoys me I can’t lie

Find it funny that it’s been ~15 trips now and 13 is still like ‘I’m not used to the systems.’ I’m sure some ppl hate it but idk I feel like it’s not a big deal and is maybe just her still tryna hide the fact that they’re right, she doesn’t have much control over the TARDIS

Yaz’s dad and sister’s excitement and surprise at Yaz bringing home friends is funny but also obviously tells us something about Yaz. She doesn’t have many friends. And since we know about the problems Yaz has had with bullying and her mental health, it’s probably even more of a big deal that she has some friends which explains some of their excitement.

I think I’ve seen ppl complain about how by this point in the series 13 should have herself figured but I like it tbh. For some ppl it takes longer to know who they are and considering the kind of Doctor 13 is, awkward, hides who she is, that sort of stuff, it doesn’t surprise me that it’s taken her a bit longer than previous incarnations to really know herself.

Sonya flirting with Ryan is funny but also cringe

If my friend left me home with her parents after meeting them not even five minutes ago I would want to die ngl I’d be going with Yaz wherever she’s off to

I love Yaz and Sonya so much and it’s a crime we didn’t get to see more of them in this ep or future eps

Ryan and Thirteen are one of my fave duos in this era. They weren’t even doing/saying anything particularly interesting when they went off to that persons flat but I still just love it so much idek what it is. Just an interesting dynamic

Robertson being like, ‘What are you, 15?’ ….Yaz doesn’t look anywhere near 15 lmao

13 awkwardly hugging Najia and saying she made an awesome human is just very cute to me. Also interesting that 13 went for a hug. Maybe that was her trying them out and realising that maybe they aren’t for her

Yaz being the one who basically sprints after the Doctor when she’s going to check out what happened to Kevin in the bathroom while everyone else doesn’t even attempt to join

The look on 13’s face when they say she’s in charge

Najia being excited at the idea of Yaz dating Ryan but concerned at the idea of her dating 13. Makes sense. Most mums would probs rather their teenage daughter date another teenager and not a woman who’s seemingly in her mid 30s and has the Vibe the Doctor has

Also Yaz’s reaction to the questions are interesting imo. With 13, Yaz’s reaction is like she’s embarrassed her mum asked and with Ryan it’s like ew I’d never date him. And obviously 13 seems confused and like Yaz, Ryan seems grossed out by it.

Ryan and Graham have some good moments in this ep with the letter. I like that this episode is more finally more Yaz focused though

Robertson really doesn’t do much for me tbh. I assume he is supposed to be like a Trump parody but I most don’t find him funny maybe spare for the kitchen scene, he’s just annoying. Also this moment doesn’t work for me at all. I get he’s supposed dramatic but nah

The Stormzy scene is fun, I like it a lot

I think the plan to just.. leave the spiders in that room to die is a bit rubbish. I get that killing them brutally like Robertson did isn’t ideal but I do think 13 should’ve recognised that killing them in a better way would have been better than just leaving them to starve. And I also thing the ending of the episode feels pretty abrupt like one minute Robertson is shooting a spider and the next we’re at Graham’s house. It felt like there should be more to it.

I wish we actually got to see or hear more about Yaz telling her mum about who the Doctor is. I don’t think it’s a big deal that we don’t but I would be interested in hearing how Yaz would explain her odd gang to her parents

The TARDIS doors opening for them is so cute

Graham giving the Doctor the smallest compliment whereas Ryan and Yaz give her bigger ones is interesting to me, kinda like the two teenagers are more impressed by 13 than the grown adult is. Or kinda like Graham is currently more into this bc of how it will help him get over Grace rather than bc he loves the Doctor and the travelling. Though that obviously chances as the show goes on bc in S12 it’s Ryan that wants to leave, not Graham.

I love that 13 is like, ‘Be sure’ bc in the past the Doctor has been like, ‘Do you wanna come?’ And then the companion has said yes and that been it, but 13 is really explaining to them how this could change them and I think that’s Interesting. Like she doesn’t want Bill 2.0 and she doesn’t want them to get into something they don’t fully understand.

In terms of the fam I feel like this is a pretty good episode for all of them? There’s more focus on Yaz which I like. We find out that it’s rare for her to have friends over, her family annoy her, she seemingly isn’t open with her Mum going by the reaction to her questions.

Ryan has the letter from his dad and we kind of see him warm to Graham a bit more in the sense they work together and Ryan expresses dislike that his dad used the term ‘proper family’.

And then Graham has some time alone where we see him dealing with Grace’s death probably properly for the first time which were pretty good moments imo.

The Doctor spends most of this episode kinda going back and forth between being her happy self and being slightly more serious and we only see her go off properly when Robertson shoots the spider but even that is toned down from what we’ve seen in previous eps where away from the fam. I also love that while she hides her full self from the fam, we know from the first scene that she doesn’t actually want to be alone which is interesting imo.

Solely under the cut because I knowwwwww if I don't put it under a cut ppl are gonna reblog it w the worst possible opinions. This is my personal opinion and u don't have to agree with it.

Only TWs are talking abt DID/DID-adjacent stuff in media

I find it? Almost funny when people are bending over backwards to be "politically correct" when talking about characters in media with "multiple personalities" but are obviously not accurate portrayals (or, often, not portrayals/attempts at portrayals) of DID.

The idea of "multiple personalities" and "lots of beings one body" has been around. The Wikipedia article for uses of "legion" ("we are legion we are many") in popular culture is like...so long it's separated by media. It's not even that like. Out there creatively. It's in S/teven U/niverse for fucks sake. There's that YouTuber guy who does something similar too (and I'm pretty sure he's made a point to say it's NOT DID.) How often does that lil trope of the angel on one shoulder and the devil on the other show up? All the time. It's not new it's not that far out. Not every media that has something with "multiple personalities" is supposed to be DID or is tied to DID. People get all up in arms about anything with the idea of seperating a mind or cramming more people in there or whatever. I've seen people get mad at IFS for the same reason. It's ridiculous and just goes to show people really only consider DID to be "multiple personality" under a new name.

I just don't think we always have to get real fuckin mad about everything that COULD be associated with DID. A lot of the time it isn't trying to be DID. If it's trying to be DID and still being awful about it (like The Movie Everyone Knows About) go ahead and make a fuss. I won't be a part of it but I don't care. But getting up in arms about like, IDK some teenager on Tumblr liking G/enocider S/yo from D/anganronpa or using "other personality" to refer to J/ekyll and H/yde or complaining about whatever other media that isn't about DID being "an inaccurate representation" of DID is like complaining Bram Stoker's Dracula was an inaccurate travel guide for Eastern Europe. It's not meant to be accurate it's just a story. It's for shits and giggles. Blah blah Jaws effect or whatever (which people also throw around without understanding) but I don't know, just seems like a waste of time to go fighting about fictional media that never utters the words "d/issociative i/dentity d/isorder" and bears no resemblance to DID other than "multiple personalities" when there's actual shit people could be talking about. Especially when the people making a fuss are usually the ones who don't know shit about DID anyway. I don't give a damn about whether people treat T/yler D/urden like an independent being or not bc he's a fictional character that's meant to be a representation for masculinity not a DSM case study. Tho I do luv Fight Club LMFAO.

I just feel that upon seeing me, a real life human being, saying I have DID people are more likely to assume I'm like some TikTok-ers than V/enom. Being annoying and weird is much more in the realm of reality than climbing walls and housing demons.

YEAH in my post I mentioned how much of an issue that sort of characterization/content is in the context of depicting mlm, but it really is also a big issue when it comes to the children who will see those types of posts

like first of all its just... uncomfortable to view as a teenager. even though I'm technically an Adult, I'm still a teenager, and reading about a grown adult saying weird shit to teenagers just makes me uncomfortable As a teenager. and I imagine it's much more uncomfortable for teenagers even younger than I am and closer in age to the juniors

coming from someone who Grew Up On The Internet and grew up in fandom (god I hate that fucking word), I can say that seeing those types of things and other similarly harmful behavior in fanworks definitely had a negative impact on me and how I saw the world as an impressionable CHILD. I know I'm really not that old at 18 and there is a lot more growing and maturing for me to do but.... I cannot stress enough just how Young 13 and 14 and 15 year olds really are. you feel so mature because you're a Teenager now and you're in Highschool and all that but it really is so young. this is not meant to be patronizing or invalidating, I know how frustrating and hurtful it is to know that you're mature and capable but still have adults treat you like shit and not take you seriously; this comes from a place of care and respect and acknowledgment that kids that young are exactly that - kids, and they deserve to Be kids and be innocent. they shouldn't be exposed to that sort of thing and those sort of jokes and have that kind of behavior normalized to them. being a kid and being innocent isn't a bad thing and you shouldn't let Anyone convince you otherwise - cherish and value being young and silly and immature, it really is a wonderful thing. you will miss your ability to be completely carefree and childish

and like I said, that kind of shit changes the way you view and interact with the world as a young impressionable Child. and as you mentioned, that sort of thing will start to make kids think its okay for adults to treat them and interact with them that way. I can't even describe how much seeing certain tropes depicted over and over again and normalized fucked up my perception of myself and the world and other people. I thought and said and liked weird shit and wasn't critical because I was fucking 12 and 13 and 14 and all of these adults around me on the internet were doing it and said it was okay and made it popular and normalized and I had no one to tell me that No, those things Aren't okay. if you're 13 or 14 or 15 and everyone's constantly making jokes about your favorite character in your favorite book/show treating people your age in a weird uncomfortable manor, over time and after its been normalized so much, of course you're gonna start to think "oh... okay. this is just how adults interact with minors and there are posts saying its funny when this character that I like does it so it's okay!"

idk its just.... I've seen many posts talking about this kind of thing in a broad and general sense but I've never seen it brought up in the mdzs fanbase where I Know that its a big issue. such a large part of this fanbase hold and express incredibly harmful opinions and ideas, many of which are about sex and sexuality, and its just So widespread and normalized. this is about So Much More than just weird posts about wei wuxian making uncomfortable comments and jokes to the juniors, this extends far past that to much more harmful and insidious content

I know that many of my followers are young teens and it just scares me how much gross weird shit they have or will be exposed to in this fanbase. it disturbs me that so many of those young teens have read the novel and been exposed to its harmful content, content that no child should be exposed to. of course kids n young teens will read or watch or play whatever they want and being told something is too mature for them will not stop them from doing that (might even make them want to do it more), and I believe what mature things kids and young teens should be exposed to is situational, but it is the responsibility of adults in fanbases to, at the very least, make this a safe and respectful place for them. kids will, unfortunately, find media they shouldn't find, but we as adults should make sure that the spaces they come to after they consume that media don't expose them further to things they shouldn't be exposed to, and make sure they know what kinds of things are harmful and unacceptable

This list is by no means comprehensive or a ranked list, as i think all my fave characters are equally bad betches, in their own right xD alright let's get to it!

-Tamari and Lady Tsunade (Naruto/Naruto Shippuden)

Tamari's one of the more cool, levelheaded female side characters in naruto and idk, she's very much Gaara and Kankuro's rock, and idk, i like that. I view her as a very strong female character, and i think she carries a lot of badass masculine energy. Plus she's a badass fighter as well. (((And she's hot but that's beside the point lol))) I like Lady Tsunade a lot, but i admit, i wasnt a fan of her at first. But now that I'm seeing her character unfold in Shippuden, I like her a lot. I like the concept that she's kiind of a grouchy, reluctant leader of the leaf village, cause that makes her seem like a very reliable leader, in a way. I think she's hella underrated as a strong character, tbh. Plus i like that she's a healing ninja, cause it seems so opposite to her outward personality. The more i watch naruto the more i'm really liking more of their female characters, tbh.

oh wow, uh, not gonna lie, i really like this anime more for most of the male characters, but Lucy and Kiyoko have alswas been in my faves list. I didnt really understand Lucy's character in season one but as the plot thickens, so does her issues with wanting to morally become a better person, but still being fairly new to learning to become selfless. I think a lot of people can relate to her because she can be fairly emotionally erratic, and she struggles with the whole "forgiveness thing." But later on you see that all she really wanted was a true family and friends that value her. And i think that's something we all want, deep down. Also, her powers are highly unnderrated and badass and i love how she is slowly becoming a protector for ppl like Atsushi, which really shows her growth as a character.

I also put Kiyoko on this list because i think she is equally as good of a female character as Lucy is, but for dif reasons. I loveeee the whole concept of "initially bad" characters soon wanting to become good. There's a simplicity in her character that i think models Atsushi's in a way, i mean they're both damaged, but both yearn to do good and make a comeback with the chances they've been given in life. If Lucy was a Tarot Card she would be the Fool. I also love how steadfast she is in her newfound family and how much she believes in everyone in the ADA now. It's very wholesome and pure :3 also i love her and Atsushi's relationship, it kinda reminds me of me and my BFF's ride or die relationship, lol.

Kiyoko: "I saw a bright world. I cannot go back to a time when I didn't know such a thing existed."

-Luna Lovegood (Harry Potter)

Ugh, there's so many things about this character that I have always loved and adored. Her character design, her quiet whimsical weirdness. Her determined loyalty to the people that accept her. Her lovely simple wisdom, at times. Like Harry said, Luna is just "...coooll." She kinda reminds me of me when I was a teenager but way cooler lol.

-Lara Croft (Tomb Raider movies and videogames)

Laura is....a simple character by design. If anything, the plotlines and video game design of the Tomb Raider franchise are way more intricate. And yeah...there's her misogynistic character design (Note: the impossibly snatched waist and bOoBiEs in earlier games.)

BUT. I still stan her for a multitude of reasons. Growing up, there were may more princess characters than female warrior characters and ya know, I'm really glad I was exposed to Lara Croft movies and the Tomb Raider: Legend video games as a kid. I think Laura taught me that you can definitely embrace your feminine side and still be a badass and follow your dreams. Even now, after me finally figuring out i'm not cis, i know, that she's still an icon for most kids out there. And for me too. She was a symbol of bravery, intelligence, as well as still being a character of emotional depth, grieving the loss of her parents while vowing to continue to do what she loved, which is exploring. Cultural and moral problems with her character aside, i still find both her and her stories very inspirational, both as a bigender queer person, and as a designer.

Oh wow, i could go on for days about how much i love thus character. If you're queer or fun in any capacity you've probably watched the final season fo She-Ra by now and spoilers aside, i just love the journey this character went on from start to finish. Scorpia is so genuine and nice, and sometimes that puts her in situations where she has to make hard decisions. And idk, those decisions just made that character so much better for me. On a lighter note, Scorpia is great queer rep, especially for butch lesbians, lesbians, trans ppl, androg ppl, and gender nonconforming ppl. She's always said things that have resonated with me as a queer person and aside from that, she's a very excitable and fun character. She just excudes so much curiosity and joy that you really can't help but like her, lol.

Scorpia: "I am brave, strong, loyal, and i give great hugs!"

-Sypha (Castlevania)

Altho I personally don't view Sypha as a cis woman, (I see her as nonbinary or agender), I think the way characters treat her in the show is indicative that in that period, they view her as a woman. So i figured I could put her on this list as well lol. Anyways, uhhh wow, Sypha is great, there's so much I love about her that it's hard to put into words. I love that she regards herself as a "scholar" of magic, but still views herself as a heretic, I just find it pretty funny and very sexy of her lol. Aside from that, I think Sypha is a great character who always seeks out logic where there usually ends up being none. I love her cheeky remarks to both Alucard and Trevor, and I love her can-do attitude. At the end of the day, she's one of those characters you love just for her great energy she carries for herself within the show. There's really no rhyme or reason to her, she just, is. She subverts many female mage character tropes as well, being a natural badass. Also her god jokes are so damn funny.

Sypha: "See?? God hates me!?

-Aunt Sarah (Derry Girls)

Okay first of all, if you havent seen Derry girls, pleaseeee watch it, holy shit it's the funniest show i've seen in a longass time. Second of all, my friend and I are still going thru the show, but Ajnt Sarah has started to become one of my favorite characters. She's one of those very aloof characters that you kinda ignore at first but then her character just has these amazing one liners and she really grows on you. Also she is very caring about her family and she's cute as hell???? I'm sorry but like her aesthetic is just on fuckin point, like??? Go off babe?? Anyways yeah she's cute.

No quotes for her since that might ruin some of the better punchlines if you end up watching the show lol.

-Marga (Cable Girls)

Yeah, if you want a really good 1920's drama that focuses on women, go give Cable Girls a try! It is very poetic in its direction lol. Anyways, Marga is one of the "new girls" at the beginning of the show and she is just, so earnest, and genuine, and pure. And I love her. She's very nice to the other girls working and she's got some great one liners. She's that timid, cute character that slowy comes out of her shell throughout the show lol.

-Kiki and Sheeta (Studio Ghibli)

I loveee Studio Ghibli films, and one of my two fave films of Miyazaki are Kiki's Delivery Service and my ultimate fave, Castle in the Sky. I adore Kiki as a character because she is your quintessential cute witch, and her journey with finding and grasping her full powers are very relevant to me, and my journey with upholding my creativity as a designer. As well as being a great movie with a great lessom for all artists, Kiki is a very passionate and genuine character, who's resilency has inspired me in hard times. I love her relationship that she has with other ppl as nd creatures, especially with her cat Gigi. She's cute, i love her lots.

Sheeta, I love for different reasons. Sheeta is one of those rare instances where a quiet protagonist, really works. I love her calm and humble, yet powerful energy surrounding her. I love her background, and how there has always beem magic inside of her, even if she's not a practicing witch. She is so very humble and a very introspective character. There's not a lot of female protagonists quite like her. Plus she's adorable as well, lol.

-Aunt Hilda, Zelda, Prudence, and Lilith (CHAOS)

I'm not gonna get into super specifics since i love all these characters equally, but I will say that all these characters absolutely MADE this series for me. I personally found Sabrina's character very annoying and slightly egotistical (i mean she's allowed to be i suppose,lol) but these characters were just so much fun!

I love Aunt Hilda for her soft personality and great revenge comebacks. I love Prudence for her aesthetic, character design, and amazing characrer development throughout the series. I love Lilith, for being both a BAMF and. MILF, lolz. And finally, i absolutely adore Zelda's character, for being so poised, calculating, blunt, and yet so very badass and loveable xD I love everything about her character, tbh.

There's so many good quotes from each character, so just watch the show, lol.

Hannibal Lecter Headcanons

(my gay ass over here thirsting over a godamned cannibal, why did god create this walking disaster of horniness and unbridled depression)

S F W :

- as you may know, Hannibal Lecter is a man no short of expectations, a walking spectacle of perfection itself on the surface but a complicated being underneath to test the limits of what a monster really means

- he smokes

- while he's not an avid chain smoker he does do it every once in a while, like after killing someone who was particularly difficult or pondering something that requires deep thought

- he understands if you don't smoke or don't want to have him smoking around you, he'd rather be polite than give into whatever desire he's feeling. he can't stand the shitty ones though, they're just nasty

- he's had a lot of lovers in his life, but he only remembers vividly the few that did not try to change some of his habits out of fear

- he doesn't feel much emotion at all, but that doesn't mean he doesn't feel

- although he may not admit it, he wants to be accepted by whoever he cares for over all else. this can tie back to his sister, although he barely feels it since when he was a very young man, not long after her death. he'd rather feel needed, wanted really. but this is only felt in certain moments, such as sitting in silence in a room with someone or watching their movements as they do basic actions that's can entail deeper meanings

- he's very, very good at body language and how to interpret it (obviously) and how to deal with social situations

- as a physiologist he's seen a lot of different mental cases, states of mind, viewpoints, problems, etc. and so being in a relationship with someone who might have something along those lines is literally not a problem (i mean he technically fell in love with will so-)

- I mean it's his job, so he knows how to calm down someone having a panic attack in no time, but if it'ssomeone closer to him he may have a moment of concern before dealing with it accordingly

- feelings aren't exactly something he's used to, for the most part so it'll freak him out a little if he finds himself caring for someone fairly easily. of course he still feels, it's just not as intense as it used to be. it's partially why he “slips” easily when there's a particular event with someone he genuinely cares about, leaving him in a slightly shocked state of acting upon instinct before treating it like anything else

- he's very self controlled, both physically and mentally

- I headcanon that when he was a teenager/young adult (watch Hannibal Rising to get what I mean) he was much less in control of what he felt in that moment. for instance, crying when Lady Murasaki told him to forgive the men he was intending to kill. it must've hurt to have someone so close to him be so disgusted with him like that

- this can also mean that he only feels afflicted emotionally by those he's very close to. lovers not really, but people he considers as those he needs to be up to a particular standard to outside of the realm of decency? it hurts when you look at him like you're scared of him, dissaproving of what he's doing as if you're negating his efforts

- he cares about you, only you

- seriously, there's not much he genuinely cares about enough to want to keep safe for all eternity, but you're his everything. you're not just some fucktoy, you're a person, a mind, and he wants to control and watch you tick like a clock he intends to take apart and rebuild. seriously, he just wants you to love him as much as he loves you

- it's very likely that you were kidnapped against your will

- he doesn't want a partner he can control, or minipulate easily without a serious challenge. he's not much of a sadist, but he'd like to see you strain under whatever kindof inflictions he's dealing mentally. he wants to see you resist, try to fight back. it's no time any fun to dissect something that's fragile and weak

- like Michael Myers (Aka: 100% That Bitch) he wants someone strong and full of courage, someone he can see fighting for the innocent or fighting to protect something till the end of the line. your courage is what really gets to him, the fact that you won't let anyone run over you regardless of who they are

- your fighting spirit also gets him just a little bit exited when you talk back to him or snap at him when he's angry with you just an fyi

- anyway back to the less horny shit

- this may seem off topic but do you remember when deadpool’s creator said he was “pansexual” by giving a really bad definition for it and lowkey seeming kindof ignorant on what being pansexual is?

- Hannibal is sort of like that pansexual, but think of him as only liking someone when it's convenient. usually he only pretends to be romantically interested in someone because it gains him the upper hand, both males and females, but down to his core he's probably not capable of falling in love with someone unless he seriously, genuinely means it. so far this has only been males and females (cough cough lady murasaki, will graham, etc. cough cough)

- for him to genuinely love someone you need to first love him platonically, actually giving off the feeling of really caring for his wellbeing, even if he does eat people. unless he doesn't really like you prior to having you love him, he'll end up finding himself drawn to you

- it's very rare that he'll love someone first, but in the instance he does it'll probably end in a Stockholm Syndrome sort of thing where you end up loving him eventually. it's kindof dogmatic, but I mean that's just how it is. he's an intelligent psychopath with an understand of humans’ brain patterns. do you really not expect him to use that to his advantage?

- if you do expect it tho and you're still into that then you may just be a horny bastard dude idk what to tell u

- phsycially id suspect that he'd want someone who physically is weaker than him. it's a reminder of sorts, that he still has power over you no matter what. if you're shorter he's definitely into that too but this doesn't mean he isn't into beefcakes

- tbh, he kindof likes a rugged sort of look on someone. while he does like to feel powerful, he also enjoys being able to have a worthy opponent. scars are also fascinating to him. to him it's almost like art, precious and unique in their own way. plus, he himself said they were reminders of the past, so they must have good stories attached to them

- oOO ppl in suits are nice too. like godam dude if you walk up wearing a nice suit looking all clean cut n shit there's a 100% chance you're getting rawed before you can even walk out the door

- in his free time, he'd rather spend time with you above all else. simply having you in the room is nice for him, regardless of how busy he is. if he's working he'd prefer you on his lap or sitting right next to him

- physical affection is something he's actually pretty damn good with, considering his hand is almost always on you. you can think of this as one of his Jedi mind tricks to let you know you're his, but he's kindof shy about it in public the first time

- but his shyness changes once he sees that if his hand isn't directly on you people...gawk at you. and he HATES that

- you'll feel a sudden hand fly to your waist, pulling you closer as he seems not to even register what he's doing. you squeak

- “h-hey! What was that for?”

- “Should I have asked permission first, or do you like the roughness?”

- “Is this because that guy was looking at me too much?”

- “...are you implying that I'm jealous?”

- “Oh my god-”

- yeah, he’ll deny it when asked if he's being jealous, but he is. he's very, very jealous and very very possessive. of course he's already pretty well composed, and he's a master at hiding his facial expressions, but that doesn't mean he won't quirk a brow or exhale slowly if you're being provoked in any way shape or form. expect the person who was annoying you to be gone. but don't worry about their suspicious dissapearence, instead sit down and have dinner! he's serving a nice pot pie with some Brussels sprouts and whatever other side dish you want! where'd the meat come from? that's not important, just relax

- he's sure he made the person more exquisite now that you actually enjoy them without having to talk to them

- oh! he obviously does most of the cooking, but if you can cook he's definitely up to critique and give you advice. of course you can only use his cuts of meat, and he'd much rather help you with cooking than let you do all the work. domestically he's the perfect partner since he's already fairly good at living on his own, and prefers to take care of others rather than get taken care of

- idealy he'd like to go out to a nice place to eat for a date, or just spending some time alone with you in front of the fire is fine with him. as long as you're near him. he dislikes places where there's too many people or just not a good area of town to be in in the first place, but honestly he's always been inclined to things that reek of upper class or fancy themes

- he loves to spoil you too, buying you nice things or nice clothes and making you wear them almost all the time. he doesn't really expect anything in return, but if you can't figure out a gift that's within your paycheck you can always make him something or pay him in - EHEM - other ways (you know what I mean ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) )

- although it's kindof sad, he's got a lot of ptsd from when he was a child. of course he's not open to talking about it, but just staying with him when he has a nightmare or placing your hands on his waist when he's in that state will calm him down in no time, although it's very rare

- he'd never hurt you, but he can grow a bit distant at times when he's particularly angry. if your relationship is more manipulative, he might resort to mental abuse as a way to keep you in line. but it's unlikely you'll even be living for very long if that's what your relationship is

- hannibal’s a man of few words, so he may not say I love you very often. he means it though when he does, although it's hard to get out the first time

- he's a one of a kind lover outside of the whole killing people thing, so once you actually get used to his cannibalistic ways and meet all his standards so as not to hurt you, expect to be treated like a queen/king that even outshines the greatest nobles. you are his, and it will take divine intervention from Satan himself to keep you apart as far as he's concerned

i’m not on here much anymore but i’ve officially been on tumblr for 10 years and idk how to process like. the gravity of this. like the fact that this site kinda fucked me up in some ways but it was also genuinely the only social support i had for a long time. and it was such an important place for me bc it allowed me to explore my identity and just be a weird teenager. idk how many of my mutuals from The Old Days are still around but i feel like i should say thank you?? for being there for me i guess?? in whatever small way, it made depressed teenage me want to kill myself less so thank u <3

and the fact that i’ve met so many mutuals in person over the years is crazy. the fucking internet is crazy. i have internet friends that i’ve known for a literal decade and i still follow them. and even tho we don’t talk or anything it makes me happy when i see them doing well!! bc i’m doing well!! and i know how it is to be depressed and awkward as a kid and how you have to work hard to slowly but surely claw your way out of it and i’m just a proud mom!!! Chapter Six: Forsaken

Chapter Six: Forsaken Aka Nazgûl. Anyhoo, Clary meets Alec and Jace in the weapons room. Alec is still hardcore judging her, but honestly, at least he’s not sucking her dick like Hodge. Our parabatai/parabros are polishing some seraph blades made by ppl Jace calls the Iron Sisters. I wonder if they’ll come back up, or if this is just another unnecessary detail.

Clary asks the perfectly reasonable question of if the blades are made by magic, and Jace shits on mundanes:

“The funny thing about mundies,” Jace said, to nobody in particular, “is how obsessed they are with magic for a bunch of people who don’t even know what the word means.”

Um,,,,, this means what exactly? mag·ic ˈmajik/ noun noun: magic 1 1.  the power of apparently influencing the course of events by using mysterious or supernatural forces.

So far, everything has been supernatural. Please tell me, Jace, about your super speshul definition of magic that will totally be nothing like this definition.

“Magic is a dark and elemental force, not just a lot of sparkly wands and crystal balls and talking goldfish.”

Clary rightfully gets annoyed at him bc he’s been fucking ridiculous. Asking if some crazy angel knives were made by magic is nothing like asking about sparkly wands and crystal balls and flue powder whatever the hell else Jace wants to bitch about. Also, steles? Wands. Crystal balls will probably come up. Talking goldfish? Give it time. Jace gives a suberdumb comparison metaphor that I’m not even gonna type out. Clary tells Jace that’s he’s driveling, and I wish she’d go off like this more. Alec unexpectedly joins team Clary and tells her that they don’t do magic.

????????? What do you call your steles and runes, then??????????? They’re literally spells??????? Cassie has just come up with this random definition of magic that makes no sense and leaves a lot of other stuff undefined. If steles aren’t magic, what are they?????

Clary asks Jace to take her to her apartment and ohhhhhhh I get it. Alec is jealous bc he has a crush on Jace. Why, Alec?? You could do so much better!! And you will do better!!! Alec is my BFF rn bc I also have a crush on my straight best friend, rip me. It’s just gay culture. But Jace shouldn’t even be into Clary. They just met. Gag me with a spoon.

Jace admits that he wasn’t totally sure that Clary was a Shadowhunter before using the stele on her, but it seems like she would have died if he hadn’t done it, so idk. I’m mad, but I got bigger problems, you know what I’m saying?

Go OFF. Okay, so Jace goes into “an angry silence”. Boo hoo. Clary feels guilty and I’m gonna slap HER bc no one needed a slap more than Jace. All he’s done so far is mock her and make her feel bad!! It isn’t Witty Banter or Flirting, it’s just rude AF. But I’m glad the narrative seems to realize that, at least a little. It still won’t stop Clary from falling in love with him, sigh.

Ohhhhhh noooo we get some of that “Clary isn’t like other girls!” bullshit:

Farther down the train, two teenage girls sitting on an orange bench seat were giggling together. The sort of girls Clary had never liked at St. Xavier’s, sporting pink jelly mules and fake tans. Clary wondered for a moment if they were laughing at her, before she realized with a start of surprise that they were looking at Jace.

Bc girls who like boys are always Sluts and Skanks who wear those ugly jelly mules and get *gasp* tans!! There’s nothing inherently wrong with giggling or wearing fashionable shoes (were these fashionable in 2007? I was but a child then) or getting fake tans. But Cassie is doing this to show us that these are the stereotypical girls, and stereotypical girls are annoying and boy-crazy and not to be trusted. Clary is short, remember? She’s Not Like Other Girls.

Also, what is the deal with Jace? I’m legit confused. I’ve never seen a man so attractive that I had to stop and giggle out loud with my friends. We might whisper or text about it, but boys, contrary to popular belief, don’t send girls into tailspins. And if a boy does? There’s nothing wrong with the girl. She’s not dumb for giggling!!!

Ohhh boy.

She remembered the girl in the coffee shop who had been staring at Simon. Girls always got that look on their faces when they thought someone was cute.

Always. We always get that look on our faces when we see someone attractive. Does CC realize that girls are not a homogenous group? And remember, Clary’s not putting herself in the group of girls. She’s too special for that look. That’s for the airhead girls. (This is why it’s totally possible for CC to write Anti-Semitic crap, btw. Bc as we see here, she also writes sexist crap.)

Clary angsts for a little bit about how Jace’s looks are so different from Alec’s “cameo looks” (???) and then daydreams about Jace’s eyes. They have some dumb banter about the girls. Jace explains about Alec being his parabatai which is just a fancy term for fighting partners. I WANT CLARY AND ISABELLE TO BE PARABATAI but these books are sexist so I doubt it but OMG YOU KNOW WHAT THIS IS MY SHIP NOW. BC IT’S THE EXACT OPPOSITE OF WHAT CC WANTS AND I DON’T CARE!!!!

*Happy sigh* (this video warmed my cold bisexual heart)

Okay. Back to business. Jace says that the Lightwoods are his adopted family, and they get to her apartment. Jace pulls out the Sensor and explains that it senses demons/demon energy. Who designs these? Why is it the only thing we’ve seen so far that merges magic and tech? Is Elba all a merge of magic and tech? If Shadowhunters can merge magic and tech, why do they use such archaic weapons? Who designs the magical technology? I have so many questions and I’m sure approximately none of them will be answered.

They go into the apartment and all the furniture has been removed. Everything’s weirdly cold, and when she tries to go into her room, the door punches her or something. It’s a little unclear. There’s a giant in the apartment!! Jace tries to fight the giant and rushes Clary out of the apartment. They very cleverly shut the front door, and the giant bangs right through it. Jace falls down the stairs fighting it and breaks his arm, so I guess it’s time for some poorly written hurt/comfort. Also, the seraph blades are disposable??? And you have to name them before using them, and I’m not sure where these names are coming from. Like, you name it, and then a blade bursts out of a hollow tube. I’m honestly imaging these:

Ugh, AP Bio labs were the WORST. Jace tells Clary not to watch bc she’s a child I guess and kills the giant. Then he draws a rune on his skin that heals him, so I stand corrected on the hurt/comfort front. Clary has a random memory of her mother being covered in faded scars that look like Jace’s faded rune, and, even knowing what she does now about glamor and magic shit, goes “oh, but that’s not really what her back looked like.”

I think Clary might actually be really dumb?

Clary’s also fucking shocked that Jace’s arm is healed and it’s just. She knows about runes. She knows about demons and giants and people who are half angel, and this still gets her?

It turns out that the guy isn’t actually a giant, just a former person who was drawn on with a stele. Now he’s one of the Nine Riders, in thrall to a ring…ahem. Forsaken are controlled by the ppl who drew on them with their magic sharpies. Jace starts to go upstairs to check for more, and Madame Dorothea pops out like: “There are more where that came from!” Umm. It’s a pretty small apartment, no? I feel like they already checked everywhere.

Jace gets really confused bc even though he explained to Clary that witches are mundanes who can do some magic not a single chapter ago, he still doesn’t understand how Madame Dorothea knows anything. Dory gets dramatic about the Clave, which I appreciate. They suck. Then Dory tells Clary to forget about her mom, and Clary understandably freaks out. Dory’s all, I’m not getting involved, hun. But then Jace threatens her with the Silent Brothers, and she invites them in. She also drops Jace’s real name, Wayland, and Jace is like, Yo wtf.

Anyway, they go in. The end.

work-related rant

i started getting full hours again and with the raises we got this month it really works out bc next semester i wont be able to work as much with going back to school (since the class im taking this semester is fully online) and even tho im more tired from having to work so much im glad to have the money

but now thanks to this fuckin weirdass creepy man i have so much anxiety going to work now. the first time it happened months ago when he would randomly say hi to me and i was like wtf cuz i definitely dont know him but kinda ignored it, and then it happened again like a few weeks/months after that but i was busy doing my job so i didnt acknowledge him.... and then last week i was going down an aisle picking out items and i didnt see who it was and thought it was a regular customer trying to pass thru, but no its that fucking creep who deliberately followed me down and wouldnt leave me alone until i said hi to him? but then like the next day, he was fucking there again and i was going to take my cart back to the curbside area, but he literally blocked me off saying hi over and over until i had to fucking interact with him and i’m getting SO fucking sick of it. i was off yesterday so i didnt have to worry about it, but all today i was anxious going thru the store doing my job, and when i thought i was in the clear his stupid annoying ass was there AGAIN going out of his way to make sure i noticed him like-

leave me the fuck alone you piece of shit? i dont fucking know you i dont give a rat’s ass if ur a “customer” quit being a goddamn creep!!! and he’s got to be in his like 50s and im not a teenager but i still look pretty young (i dont mean that in a braggy way, ppl still mistake me for high school age so the fact that he keeps trying to talk to me is.....really gross) im so fucking sick of it and im so sick of being anxious the entire time im at work now thinking im gonna have to see that freak, and since he’s been there practically every day the past couple of days i’ve been there it just completely fucking kills my mood and makes me feel sick that this stupid annoying asshole is making it a mission to harass me?

ive been “polite” to him bc obviously if i try to ignore him he pursues me and im afraid he’s gonna...get even more persistent or even aggressive, but of course i fucking hate feeling like i “have” to be nice out of fear when he makes me SUPER uncomfortable and is forcing me at this point to acknowledge him. it was really annoying at best when it happened like....once every couple of months, but he’s literally been there consistently the last couple of days i’ve been at work and i’m so fucking sick of it. something happened where one of my younger female co-workers quit a while back because of a creepy dude working in another department, and the store leaders claimed they “couldnt do anything about it” so she left, so i’m afraid they’re gonna basically tell me the same thing? especially because i need this job right now... i’m going to talk to my manager about it when im back to work on monday and hopefully they can like...ban him from the store or something, and i guess if all else fails i can maybe look into transferring....but i like working here bc some good friends i’ve made are here and i hate that i would have to be the one to leave because some annoying man HAS to be an entitled creep.

i also dont want to have to be stuck inside the curbside box retrieving if they think the best course of action is to stop me from doing the part of my job i like to do....because i prefer shopping way more, but that requires me to be in the store and therefore susceptible to having to see the creep. also, apparently a guy who’s, like, nice enough but kinda annoys me is apparently interested in me...and another guy who i thought was just being friendly made me uncomfortable when he, completely out of the blue and not subtle at all, was in my business about whether i had a boyfriend/was single, and i’m getting to the point where i want to swear off men completely? like, yeah i can still feel attraction to men, but there’s just been way too many instances lately where men just creep me the fuck out or make me uncomfortable, and now dealing with this fucking stalker, i just keep thinking “i fucking hate men” over and over again.... (and yeah of course not all men etc. but i’m so fucking tired of this shit right now)

i really really hope they can do something about the guy, i’m getting close to the point where the next time i see him i’m literally gonna snap and tell him to piss off and leave me the fuck alone

also..... idk if it’s paranoia or bc as soon as i realize it’s him i try to ignore him entirely and dont pay enough attention, but i feel like the last times he’s been here his cart has always been empty.... like he’s just pushing it around to make it “look” like he’s shopping...

「 ASAMI ZDRENKA, CISFEMALE, 23, HAYLEY WILLIAMS/PARAMORE. 」┈ did you read that latest viral gossip issue on RALEIGH MORI/SWEETS? she is the LEAD VOCALIST in BETTER NOW, one of my favorite ALT ROCK groups. they’ve been releasing music for THREE YEARS now, but viral gossip has only been talking about them for the last TWO YEARS. get this, i think i heard SHE’S HARD TO WORK WITH. they’re known as the THESPIAN of the music industry, since they have a rep for being PASSIONATE but OVERWHELMING, but who knows. maybe that will change once they become #1. ( ADMIN SANDRA, 21, EST, SHE/HER )

- raleigh was always given LOTS of attention growing up, especially since she was an only child and her parents had no intention of having more kids. since they knew she would be the only one they’d have they S P O I L E D her.

- but like, they didnt spoil her with materialistic things, they just spoiled her with praise and indulging all of her creative wants, like they placed that girl in music/dance as soon as she was able to walk??

- growing up raleigh was busybusybusy with all of that extra-curricular stuff, music, dance, theatre, band, you name a fine art she was probably in it and also leading it.

- obviously this made her want to pursue music as a career, and her parents being supportive and amazing people left their law firm in raleigh, north carolina (yeah thats where she got her name from) and moved to los angeles to give her much more opportunities than she could have gotten in the south.

- raleigh is... v difficult to work with. it’s not like she’s trying to be difficult, it’s just that she has a “creative vision” for how she wants things to work, so when they don’t go her way.... she snaps.

- she can be childish and throw temper tantrums but she’s not trying to be a garbage person, that’s just how it worked out. and trying to start off in the music industry while being a garbage person is difficult. she quickly became known as the girl who was hard to work with, so people started rejecting her.

-she realized that she wouldn’t be able to make it with the garbage attitude she has, so she started keeping quiet if she didn’t like something, she changed her appearance so she would be a “clean-cut, wholesome teenager” and an opportunity was finally given to her.

- raleigh was signed to a band/group (wanted plot) and as soon as everyone became comfortable with each other, raleigh started becoming more... raleigh. she started getting into a lot of arguments with management and with her bandmates about the direction of the band, to the point that rehearsals were pointless bc everyone knew raleigh would get there, find something wrong, and then storm off five minutes later. she became... impossible.

- so, obviously she was kicked out of the band. and this hurt raleigh, like how dare they kick her out??? what did they know about music??? so she was left with no band and no label, but really supportive parents so i guess it wasn’t all bad.

- like, a few months after raleigh was kicked to the curb she stumbled on a band in some janky bar that she snuck into, but she really really liked their sound. she approached them and asked if she could join, and they agreed bc she had “connections”, like home girl didn’t burn down ALL of the bridges she made while she was in the biz.

- the band was originally called something else, idk, and including her there were four (4) members, but the lead vocalist got tired of raleigh (who knows goes by sweets... bc that was the nickname ppl in the old band gave her when they talked about her behind her back, so she used as her new brand?? we stan a marketing queen.) bc he could see she was a Diva, so he left (maybe another plot idea??) and now there are 3 members and they are called Better Now.

- they released their first album two years ago, and are currently working on their second album! sweets is now trying to become less like garbage, mostly bc she’s maturing as a person, like all this shit went down when she was 18-20 years old so homie is trying to get better.
