Happy Halloween! Have a book:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is Siren's Song by @kedreeva (Hi! I asked to bind your fic months ago, sorry it took so long XD). It's an incredible Good Omens siren AU, which needs no introduction from me but it gets one anyway. It's one of the most in-character fics I've ever read, tackles a lot of the most resonant themes of the original (love in the context of aromanticism and asexuality, human labels in the context of non-human perspective), and has incredible world-building. Later parts of the fic always make me cry but they're good tears. You'll see. When I first learned that fanbinding was a thing and started looking into how to do it, this was one of the first fics I thought of. It just took me a while to learn the skills I needed before I could do it.
More pics and process talk under the cut!
So the cover up there is black faux leather and momi paper that I bought...about two years ago? And just kept on hand till I was ready to do this project. This is the first time I've worked with it and it was fairly nice, though harder to get a nice crease into than lokta or chiyogami. It felt very fragile when I was handling it but I didn't have any issues with tearing or glue bleed-through like I thought I might. It did bleed some color when I got it damp with the glue, and it took way longer to dry than normal, but once that was done it's been fine. Which is nice because I have a lot left over, so it'll probably be making many future appearances in my binds.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Look! It's rounded! I got a backing setup recently and this is my first time using it. It was Very Hard and I am not very good at it yet. But I think it looks pretty good for a first attempt, and there was really no other way to mitigate the spine swell on this one. I used a thick paper so I've got a thick book. I also tried something new with the case, though it isn't visible. Usually I make the text block and the case separately and then attach them as the last step, but for this one I actually built the case around the text. Like, boards attached to mull/tapes (sandwiched between thinner boards, with grooves cut for them so there are no bulges), then covered with momi, then leather corners and spine, then paste down the endpaper. It's got an oxford hollow, too! The tapes and mull actually wrap around the outside of the boards instead of the inside like I've done before. Endpapers are my favorite feather chiyogami. Combined with the marbled momi they make for a very opulent look, and I had just barely enough to do this. Like, down to the millimeter. I had to trim the edges and then glue the endpapers after to be sure they were right. I'm glad they were, because I didn't have a backup plan. Handmade endbands, colors picked to match the cover. Also, last note, I got the corner bits right for the first time. Measured properly, with no weird pointy bits that come out at funny angles. Very proud.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Title page and bookmark/interior shot. Did you know that some basic fonts in MS Word look different when you use a huge font size? Because I didn't until I made this title page. That's Parchment for the title, and it only gets those swirly bits around the capital letters if you take it to 26pt or higher (I used 72 here). Now I wonder if any of the other fonts have easter eggs in them like that. The ribbon is very fancy, to go along with the rich endpaper/cover combo. I think it's pretty appropriate for a mythological golden age of piracy story, as are the text ornaments:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Chapter header image, chapter end image, and section break image. It was a very image-heavy typeset. I was originally planning to only have a header and a section break, but I couldn't decide whether I liked the ships or the book/shell/feather better, and they both suited the story so well that I just went with both. Again, opulent, but I think it fits. All the images came from rawpixel, all I did was resize them.
Tumblr media
There was a small error in the trimming process. Comes of having to calculate so closely the exact amount you can trim off, that you have to trim off so your slightly-too-small endpapers fit. I think something got misaligned when I poked the sewing holes because only the first signature is like this. The rest of the book has a more appropriately-sized margin between the page number and the edge. I got very lucky here, and I know it, and I'm never cutting it this close (lol) again. Next time we just order another sheet of chiyogami.
And that's it! I have one author's copy and one new bind in progress right now (that's taking a while because I'm learning more new stuff for it), and then I have two Christmas gift books to do, so it might be a bit before I have another book to share.

I don't normally like to show WIP/sketchy/unfinished artwork because my process is a complete mess and I'm embarrassed by how bad it all is before I reach a point where I'm satisfied enough to call something done. That being said, as the AI inundation is upon us, it feels valuable to share the human trial and error and my own manic desperation that goes into making art. I always spend too much time on stuff that ends up looking like it should not have taken that much time, but I REALLY overcooked my last drawing and fried my own brain. Trying to draw a speeder bike was torture. Here's some of the goofy shit I did!
I really had intended to simply draw an existing speeder bike, but as I considered the ~aesthetic~ I wanted and examined the standard ROTJ-style bike, it wasn't working for me. In terms of motorcycles they're too much like choppers for my taste when I vastly prefer the chunky '80s futurism/cyberpunk/mecha anime look (clearly, since this started out as an Akira reference). But. I have zero expertise in mechanical design or even concept art itself. I do not know how vehicles work or how to draw them. And referencing either real or fictional motorcycles isn't a huge help because they have wheels to focus the design around, which of course hover bikes don't have.
So obviously trying to both design a speeder and draw it in perspective was really difficult to wrap my brain around. I started out by photographing one of my old '90s Micro Machines for reference, but it wasn't exactly useful for extrapolating the shape into a new design:
Tumblr media
I sketched out some profiles, but, again, tough to convert to 3D using only my very weak power of imagination:
Tumblr media
The only 3D-adjacent tool I know well enough to use is After Effects, which is a poor substitute for a real 3D modeler because it can really only do flat planes and basic shape extrusion, and it was too cumbersome for this. I started to try it and it sucked:
Tumblr media
"Just learn a 3D program," you say. "Blender is free." WELL. Maybe someday. But not today. So I resorted to building it in miniature out of cardboard:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is less mortifying than taking pose reference photos of myself (which I have done a lot! it's a great way to make yourself feel like a complete lunatic!!!) but it was also more work, so. Still makes me feel like a lunatic.
Tumblr media
Thankfully it did make it possible for me to finally draw something. The design isn't groundbreaking, and I still have absolutely no idea how to create convincing mechanical details despite poring over mountains of concept art… but an attempt was made. My perspective is probably still out of whack because, despite having studied art throughout my entire academic career, I never officially learned all those multipoint perspective tricks, drawing cubes inside of cubes, etc. I've always preferred and been much better at organic shapes than anything mechanical or architectural.
Tumblr media
My initial iterations were more X-Wing/BSG Viper-esque, but I kept being unhappy with the nose shape. I wanted it to be pointy and triangular but I couldn't add enough detail to make it interesting. Even after building it MULTIPLE TIMES I didn't like it, so the shape I ultimately landed on… wasn't one of the prototypes I built. LOL. It was just so hard to tell in the earlier stages, so I had to go through the whole refining process just to land on "nah." It looked alright in cardboard, and then translating it to line art, and then once I colored it I didn't like it. It would have been a lot easier if I could tell at an earlier stage than that!!!!!!
There wasn't any one ship/vehicle I referenced, but things I looked at for inspiration included: the Akira bike (obviously), Tron lightcycles, every time we've ever seen a speeder bike in any piece of Star Wars media, actual motorcycles, X-Wings, A-Wings, U-Wings, Jedi Vectors… etc.
Tumblr media
Once I had settled on the split nose, I tried adding vertical stabilizers to the tail section for some more interest back there and to balance out the front, but even though I liked them I thought they made it too busy. It also started to look too much like a miniature ship instead of a bike, like he was riding one of those coin-operated kiddie rides. No!!! I wanted this to look cool!!! So I stuck with the nondescript tail section.
Tumblr media
Pose and likeness referencing aren't very exciting but just know that I use a mishmash of references for literally everything. Normally I would pose myself (even though translating my own blobby female proportions into those of a large man is another layer of awkward difficulty), but riding a speeder is a tough action to recreate so I downloaded the "MagicPoser" app on my phone and used that instead. The basic version is free and you can move around limbs and joints in their normal range of motion—some of it gets rubbery, but for the most part it did what I needed it to do.
Tumblr media
Also just had to make up an excuse to put him in a pilot helmet! The shape is based on a Y-Wing helmet—a personal favorite of mine—which made sense to me for using on a speeder since it has more face coverage like motorcycle helmets tend to have. (not that I drew him actually wearing it on the speeder, haha. safety first, kids!!—UNLESS you're a dumbass space wizard, then just do whatever looks cool.) I really waffled back and forth on what color to make the visor, because I'm extremely partial to the pink from the Y-Wing helmet, but ultimately I went with the more traditional yellow-orange. Either one looks good with blue and white so I still like 'em both.
This all feels like it was an enormous waste of time, but I did realize the thing that was in my head, so. I guess that's an accomplishment. Unfortunately the problem with making art for myself is that I invariably end up hating my own work, and being in a dead/dying fandom on a dead/dying platform means there is very little external validation to counteract the self-loathing brain worms. Agony!

OC Stuff - BKW - Kisyku & Roombot
This is Kisyku!! (That's "Kiss-eye-coo" ^^,)
He's my main OC for a space story I've been working on, Bodacious Kisyku World (BKW for short). I've had this character for like.. 7-8 years now?? He's gone through so many changes and iterations, but I'm really happy with where he is now. ^^
Kisyku is a Celestial! They're a powerful species with the ability to channel something called "Cosmic Energy," which is sort of this universe's like "energy" you know the whole shonen thing
Cosmic Energy
Cosmic Energy is channeling the vacuum of space into a combustible dense "liquid" like blob. Think of their appearance like the dream blocks from Celeste, except you can sling it. Kisyku's main form of attack involves slinging this explosive space jelly around. CE also is used to sponge damage to his body among other things.
Tumblr media
Channeling and using Cosmic Energy is incredibly dangerous though, so not many people can use it (like humans can't at all for example), so it's a pretty forgotten/unknown thing in the present day.
But Celestials are VERY good at it, like dangerously so.. the story mainly revolves around Kisyku's usage of it, and how he tends to push the limits to dangerous degrees..
Okay NOW Kisyku and Roombot!!
Tumblr media
Yeah so Kisyku is a Celestial!! They're a pretty complicated species.. supposedly they can just take on any form they'd like, but Kisyku likes to keep it simple and just appear as human.
I think he messed up a few things though, like he's got pointy Hylian-like ears for one. Just a couple of small quirks like that. So he's not 100% human, but that's ok I still love him, he's doing his best.
I think it's very important to mention that he just has this transmasc energy to him though, I don't really know how to describe it. In earlier versions of the story, when he was just a normal human, he actually was trans. I wanted to keep that element of him in the modern story, by having the transness be more metaphorical through the way Celestials work. That will probably make more sense when I eventually get the official story rolling, but for now just know that he's this transmasc-energy little gremlin.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Despite his size (an outstanding 5'3"!!) Kisyku is a pretty loud, active, and rambunctious character. He's a little scrunkly who can get kinda cocky at times, but overall his heart is in the right place. He can be rather sweet at times, as long as you aren't trying to pick a fight with him.. or commenting on his height.
He also is totally that kind of person who will steal snacks from your fridge, i wouldn't be surprised if he does that a lot with the Brigade
Tumblr media
Kisk spends most of his time chilling on Earth. He resides on the dock of a small n' quiet beach-side town. He also enjoys bothering his rent-debt collector, Emily. I'll share more about her and Earth another time though. All you need to know is that he's constantly in debt to her.
Tumblr media
He really enjoys watching the waves of the shore sway, among other things as he explores more of the town and it's boardwalk and stuff. It's nice after all to have some quiet time in between the crazy action and antics he gets himself into.
Speaking of...
youtube
Outside of Earth-rest stuff, Kisyku likes going out into space and raiding the Cosmos. I like to call these hit and runs of his "rampages," as he seems to have this goal to cause as much destruction to the Cosmos as possible.
The animatic above is a little outdated with the Cosmo designs, but it gives you a good idea of the rush Kisyku throws himself into. In the animatic, they appear as this evil Star Wars-like space empire, but in the current story, Cosmos are very much different. Now they're kind of a secret "shadow police" that only Kisyku really knows about...
He seems to have beef with them, and they don't really like him either... maybe one day you'll learn about why...
Tumblr media
But yeah finally, his little companion pal: Roombot. They're like an actual cat.. if it were a roomba.. and can fly.
It's kinda bitchy, sometimes snarky towards Kisyku. You won't really be able to hear their vulgar language though, since they speak in R2-D2 beep boops and whirrs.
Kisyku talks to them a lot though, and sometimes Roomboot puts the snark aside to really listen to him, especially for more emotional moments. They're kind of who Kisyku comes to the most about his problems in the early parts of the story.
Yeah, Roombot is rather silly. They can also float, and Kisyku can grab onto them to get some extra height. Kisyku also sometimes uses them as a stepping stool, but I don't think they really like it when he does.
Holding Roombot feels very buoyant, like as if you were holding onto a paddle board in a pool y'know? That kinda vibe. Despite not always enjoying it, they're always there to help Kisyku out in a pickle!!
Tumblr media
But uhhh yeah!! That's Kisyku (and Roombot)!! Kisk really means a lot to me, since he's been around for so so long in my life now. I hope that someday I can really get his story out there for you all to enjoy haha.. but until then, I hope you enjoy the drawings I make of him and his world!!

aot oc show and tell: day one
this is a summary of my self insert for @shingekinomyfeelings's aot show and tell event! :> sorry it took me so long hehe ^_^' but i hope you like learning about my self insert !
Day 1: Basic Introductions
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Name: summer !
Gender: haha idk rn tbh. female pronouns are fine though
Age in setting: 23
Bold all of the following that apply to your OC!
Context: Canon Setting (though not as often) | Modern AU | Other AU
What niche does your OC serve for you? Self-insert | Completely original character | Self-shipping | Roleplaying | Writing fics | Creating art | Only the scenarios and adventures that I imagine inside my head and share with no one! get fucked I ain't creating shit | Something else
A Bit More
If your character is in the AOT canon setting, what's their allegiance? Survey Corps, Military Police, Marleyan, Warriors, etc?
in a modern setting i imagine being part of the survey corps, though very very reluctantly. my chances of survival would admittedly be low though lol. i'd probably get caught in my own gear or trip off the roof when trying to grapple onto something xP
If your character is from an AU, what's their occupation?
just like me... unemployed and living life as best as they can haha
Do you ship your character with a canon character? If so, who?
yes!!! they're dating eren!
Do you have any cute art or picrews of them together? Let's see one.
Tumblr media
i have too many drawings and picrews to count lol. so here's one drawing/animation thing i just uploaded today :>
Character Creation
How long have you actively been developing your OC?
about a year now! i started drawing them around sometime in nov/oct so one year is coming up ^_^
Is there any significance behind your OCs name?
nope, not really! :P i didnt put any thought into the name tbh lol xD
If your OCs appearance is based on yours, do they have any different features?
id say their hair is more orange and pointy than mine. but for the most part everything i draw about them is similar to myself :3
Is there anything you want to try doing with your OC that you haven't yet? (ex RPing, art, fics, etc)
i've been wanting to start drawing comics with them! little snippets of stuff, not a full length comic book hehe. and so far ive been starting to do that, so i'm excited to share the art i've been working on ! :D
ty so much for the chance to talk about my self insert! this was very fun and i'm looking forward to the next event :D

How do you think each hexsquad member +ver&camilia is dealing with suddenly living with so many ppl in one house?
(no need for analysis silly hcs d be enough)
That last rb reminded me of this ask lmao. It really is super funny to think about because most of these characters aren't really used to such an environment. Camila has only ever had one daughter. Ever since she learned the truth about Vee, she's been considering how things are going to operate once Luz gets back. Two daughters. Yeah she can probably manage that. She was not prepared for FOUR EXTRAS.
- Luz, Willow and Gus and Hunter have always been only children with plenty of space for themselves so they're certainly not used to being all lumped together in such a small house. Luz had King for a while but he was just a teeny tiny guy. So there's a lot of butting heads and bickering over stupid shit.
The one who adjusts the fastest is Amity. The others soon learn that Mittens can be vicious. You can only assume she was fighting for her life in that Manor to survive Ed and Em. Hunter has learned that she fucking bites.
- She's also a huge tryhard when it comes to earning Camila's approval. Cooking, cleaning, running to the store, Amity's always front and center to announce "Oh, Ms Noceda, let me give you a hand :D"
Willow, Gus and Hunter tease her over being so obvious about it, but quite frankly, they're not much better. Camila has an emotional chokehold over all of these kids. With their parents gone, they're all pretty starved for parental validation and affection.
Out of everyone, Willow is the best at hiding it but Camila braided her hair one morning and told her she was such a lovely little girl and on god she has not been the same since.
- Vee misses the peace from the time that was just her and Camila. And now constantly bumping elbows with all these other kids who also want her mom's attention is a reminder that those times are long gone.
But Vee is mature for her age so she doesn't let her jealousy show. She's very helpful and patient with the others. It wasn't so long ago that she was still learning how to blend in like a normal human so she admittedly enjoys feeling smart and teaching them things. Like how a toaster works and what pointy objects you should not stick in a socket. Gus needed a few extra lessons but he's doing great now!
- As for sleeping arrangements, Luz and Vee usually share the top bunk. Luz wakes up at random hours of the night squealing because Vee touched her with her ice cold blooded body. Vee can only take so much of the theatrics before she groans at Luz to stop being dramatic. Sleeping next to Luz is like sleeping next to a grease fire and you don't hear Vee complaining about how suffocating it is!
- Amity and Willow share the bottom bunk. They both believed this would work out just fine until the reality of the situation was discovered. Willow kicks in her sleep. And she kicks hard. She fucking launched Amity out of the bed at one point. She's utterly mortified when she's informed that she might be a little bit of a restless sleeper and apologizes profusely over it. From now on, Amity sleeps on the inside and they have a wall of pillows between them.
- (from that one post.) Gus is not a morning person. Willow and Hunter are. This leads to the two of them rousing him at 6am with their big dumb enthusiastic smiles to tell him they're going on a morning run and if he wants to come? Gus answers that he'd sooner lift a finger to show them horrors beyond their comprehension until their brains are deep fried than lift a finger to put his jeans on. Now scram.
- Luz has to take Camila aside at one point and discreetly tell her "Listen mom, my friends might be a little too embarrassed to tell you themselves but...they're all kinda...dealing with different stages of witch puberty right now. So if they act kinda weird, that's why." And Camila is like "Oh! Well that's nothing to be embarrassed about. They're growing kids. And I've already been through this with you, I'm sure I can handle it with them."
But fucking. She was not prepared for....whatever in God's name is going on with these children. When Amity gets too overstimulated her body overheats and pink fire singes Camila's carpet. Vee is shedding her skin. Willow is growing moss on her shoulders. Gus keeps involuntarily summoning illusions that broadcast his deepest secrets to everyone in the house. This shit is chaos. What the absolute fuck.
Hunter sheepishly approaches her one day and Camila fearfully holds her breath for whatever insanity this kid is going through that he's about to tell her about.
"Hey. Uh. Ms Noceda. Would it be okay if...if I got one of those...um. y'know those human spray potions. The ones that make you...y'know....not smell bad...?"
Camila blinks. ".....deodorant?"
"Yeah that's the stuff. And uh," His fingers ghost across his jaw. "A razor. If that's not too much trouble."
She feels the relief wash over her. Okay, this one she understands. Thank fucking God.
"Of course, Mijo. I'll pick those up for you later :)"
- The house has one bathroom. On more than one occasion, Camila hears the commotion from the floor above as the herd tramples over each other in an effort to reach said bathroom first. There are yells and protests and somebody elbowing somebody's stomach or somebody slamming somebody into a wall. Luz and Hunter are usually the ones who get the worst injuries because they do not hold back when it comes to decking each other.
- Gus has gotten really into horror games/movies/etc. Luz hums disapprovingly when she hears whatever he's currently downloaded. "I dunno Gus, are you sure you're up for that? It's just...whenever I used to watch that kind of stuff I couldn't sleep right. So just...maybe pace yourself."
Once Hunter hears that Gus is apparently consuming really scary content he's like "Don't worry, Luz. I'll supervise him."
Long story short. Gus becomes passionate about horror media. Hunter, meanwhile, is too chickenshit to tell him that he CANNOT keep watching these movies with him. He hasn't gotten a good night's sleep in weeks.
- Camila assumed that since these were teenagers, she didn't need to pester them about bedtimes and whatnot. This could not have been more incorrect. She had to lay down a very strict lights out schedule because otherwise they'd be up all night. Either doing gravesfield research or getting absorbed in whatever new human thing they were currently addicted to. And then it's always all "oh I haven't brushed my teeth yet" or "oh I'm gonna head downstairs for a glass of water" it takes FOREVER to get them all down and settled. She's finding that there is no difference between teens and five year olds when it comes to bedtime.
(This is all the silly HCs I can think of for the moment.)

In Defense of the Pointy Wizard Hat
I've been reading some Discworld and there's one thing I really love about it: pointy fucking hats.
Witches wear tall pointy hats, wizards wear tall pointy hats, everyone who does magic wear pointy hats. And that's because, in the Discworld, showing off one's magic is more important than making magic itself. You need to look the part of a witch or a wizard if you want to be taken seriously as one; that way, a witch can get away with not even making magic at all, just relying on good ol' psychology (or "headology" as one of the characters put it). Even in the Tiffany Aching series, where witches are being persecuted, Tiffany wears an imaginary pointy hat, and one of the witches has a normal hat that pointifies on command.
This, however, goes beyond "the magic-user has a compelling presence", it actually goes into territory of self-image, because no witch or wizard can take themselves seriously if they're not properly dressed for the part. Being a witch, after all, isn't just about doing magic; any chump can learn a thing or two about doing magic in most settings. But wearing black on black, pointy hat, and broom? Not only does that commands respect, it also convinces the wizard themselves that they're a magic-user. It comes with great responsibility y'know, it's kinda the Sword of Damocles of the wizard: you need to honor the hat. If you don't honor the hat, then what are you even doing? And that's why Tiffany getting an "imaginary hat" is such a powerful moment. It's not just that the hat makes the witch, it's also that having a pointy hat is as much as an internal mark of worth as it is external.
Pointy hats are how I measure when a setting is taking their mages way too seriously or not. Not every mage NEEDS to wear the pointy hat, but just the existence of someone with a mighty pointy hat is enough for me to know that the setting doesn't think of their mages as all hoity toity.
Take Lord of the Rings, for example. Gandalf appears with a hat. He does lose the hat in the middle of things (according to the movies, my headcanon is that Gandalf came back with a white pointy hat), but that's permissible because he doesn't need to prove his hat to anyone.
Now take Harry Potter, the later parts. As soon as Harry Potter starts taking itself way too seriously for its own good, the hats disappear; even McGonagall stops wearing them every once in a while. And it gets lamer because of it.
That is to say: pointy hats are a symbol of power. Having a mage without a pointy hat is like having a knight without a sword / horse. It makes the whole thing lamer because it subtly tells the audience that this work is simply "too good" for pointy hats.
I think that settings where there isn't really a full-on society or institution of witches, like idk, The Craft or The Witcher, and they may be persecuted, it's alright for them to not wear pointy hats, as long as the series doesn't get all smug about it. I'm reading Witch Hat Atelier rn and every witch has a pointy hat, I love it.
anyway i don't really have that many logical reasons for this. Pointy hats are cool. They can be a bit corny, but if you're ashamed of being a bit corny in a story involving magic, then it's a surefire indicator that your magic probably involves nondescript blasts of energy instead of creative applications of the thing, and I don't like that, personally.
tl;dr: witches and wizards wear pointy hats god DAMMIT. I won't take your book any more serious for not having them, I'll just assume you're a killjoy who hates fun and whimsy.

What’s the twin theory? I’ve seen you mention that
That's actually a complicated question, and I should probably revamp the theory to encompass everything we've learned in the past year or two.
So, TWD often uses twins in various scenarios. Some examples include Noah's twin brothers (5x09 - WHAWGO) and the twins (adults in that case) with Georgie when Maggie first met her in S8.
The thing is, they often do this thing where one twin is good, and the other evil.
But they also do this with characters who aren't biologically twins. Sometimes they're just siblings (Lizzie and Mica) and other times they're just good and evil characters who are put together in the same arc (Glenn/Noah, Daryl/Dwight, Carol/Alpha, Rick/the Gov). Obviously none of them are biological twins, but the show finds other ways to make them similar. Similar clothing. The fact that they're both mothers, or leaders. The same, but opposites.
See, I think the twin thing is part of the Duality Theory, which you can read about HERE. It's a classic trope or archetype used often in literature: there's light side and a shadow side to all things and people. So, this is just the writers showing us a juxtaposition of good and evil.
This is something the writers have always done, and it's become much more heavy handed since Gimple took over in S4. But you have to be on the look for it. They don't go out of their way to point it out to us. They didn't give Nicholas devil horns and a pointy mustache, while dressing Glenn in white and having him stand under halos, right? If you're just a passive viewer, most of this won't occur to you consciously.
But...you guys have me. Me and my fellow theorists aren't your average passive viewers. 😉
So, what's all this got to do with Beth? We saw the duality theory specifically around Beth a LOT. Yet, she never really had a complimentary, shadow character like many of these other pairings do.
The best example of this comes from 5x09. We saw several duality pairings there in Ty's death hallucination, including Bob and Martin, who literally contradicted one another in dialogue, Tyreese and the Governor, and Lizzie and Mica. And of course there were Noah's twin brothers as well, one of who slept (death) peacefully on the bed, while the other attacked and bit Tyreese.
And Beth was there. But where was her duality pairing? There wasn't one. The only other thing we have in that episode was the voice on the radio, which gave constant and what are now-obvious references to the CRM.
Which sort of suggests that the CRM IS Beth's shadow side.
At the very least, having her there with all the other duality pairings and foreshadows of the CRM suggests that she'll be part of that story.
And now we have the Daryl spinoff. I've come to believe that Clemence Posey's character, Isabel, will also be an "evil twin" of Beth. And understand, that doesn't necessarily mean she'll be a villain. She may be, but in Nicholas and Glenn's case, Nicholas was more an antagonist than an evil villain. The point is, he was a foil for Glenn. And I believe Isabel will be that for Beth.
So, there will probably be things about her that are very Beth-like. There may even be things that freak people out because it seems like she might become his love interest. Heck, he may even be somewhat drawn to her specifically because of her Beth-like qualities.
But in the end, I think we'll find out she's not as sweet and kind hearted as she pretends to be. Again, maybe a villain, maybe not, but even if not, she just...won't be Beth. Not pure enough to be Daryl's soulmate.
I'll end my little novella here by pointing out something I realized a few days ago. The name "Isabel" is the Spanish equivalent of the name "Elizabeth." So Isabel and Beth literally have the same name.
Juuuuuust saying. 👭 Xoxo! ☔️😋

egghog posting time
this turned into a really long summary of a few scenes i was thinking very hard about. it's basically two whole fanfictions. it's over 1,200 words. which is a lot for me. so... here we go!
shadow's character arc, as we know, is really good. something particularly captivating (and underrepresented in discussion, from what i've seen in my tiny circle of the internet) about him is his transition from living for other people to living for himself.
living to protect maria and the earth was one thing. his whole self-titled game where everyone was trying to push him around and do what they wanted was another. he got sick of it and decided to not only accept and embrace his past, but move forward from it and forge his own path. while still keeping those he lost in his heart.
egghog shadow has a very similar character arc, thematically speaking. he wouldn't be shadow without it.
of course, he starts off as eggman's primary assistant. he's by eggman's side for a lot of his day, and his life revolves around pacifying him or otherwise doing what he wants. he believes it's his duty.
he, of course, still has hobbies and his own things going on, which we've discussed before, but he really does spend the majority of the day doing things eggman tells him to. he doesn't really have the mental space to question why; he's too busy just trying REALLY hard to please eggman and trying REALLY hard not to just pop amy's head off like a barbie doll when they fight (but he really wants to)
but then he finds out that eggman has been Lying To Him about some really basic things in his life (a scene and section of the story too off topic and complicated for this post) and he's seriously destabilized. he doesn't know what to do. he asks for team rose's (for anybody new: amy, tails, knuckles) help.
he moves into tails' workshop, being the third housemate after silver showed up. it's the only place they can really stay that has someone from team rose there to keep an eye on them and ALSO has an actual roof and running water. so tails gets some pointy housemates and they're all kind of grumpy about it for a while
but when shadow first moves in, he's in a REALLY sensitive and compromised emotional state. his very recently (and repeatedly) traumatized brain has latched onto team rose as new leaders and authority figures.
he had to leave almost all of his projects and collections at home, leaving him with a woeful amount of free time. if he's home alone, he's curled up in his room or on the couch processing All That Shit. if tails is working on something, he'll offer up his help and do everything tails tells him to do to a T.
tails thinks nothing of it the first couple times, appreciating the extra hands, but after shadow builds something exactly in line with the blueprints he was given and it isn't functional, shadow is sheepish and says he had noticed the problem but didn't want to say anything.
tails says oh my goodness, if you noticed you totally could have said something, i wouldn't be mad! feel free to fix stuff yourself if you want if you see mistakes, just tell me before you do anything :)
after that, shadow slooowly starts to feel more comfortable asking if he can make this modification or that change or whatever else, and tails usually says yes! whenever he says no, shadow is noticeably quieter for a while. the whole situation is worrying as tails slowly puts together the whole picture of what being raised by eggman actually looked like for him.
when they first toured the workshop, shadow had said something about tails' workshop being organized differently than eggman's or his own. he was disoriented trying to learn the new system, but he got it quickly enough. but tails wanted to give him the opportunity to have his own space, something he could work in and organize as he likes.
one day, tails very casually asks shadow what his organization system was like at his workshop (and what it looked like), and shadow goes into detail about it after he was encouraged to. tails commits this to memory as best as he can.
the next day, tails has blocked off a section of the workshop and tells shadow not to look at what's inside. shadow, being Scared, agrees.
there's a night where the curiosity gets the best of him. he's wracked with guilt and Angst as he tiptoes to the workshop and takes a peek into the space. he's scared about something going deeply wrong, and also about five nights at freddys being in there
he sees an unfinished workspace that is remarkably familiar. the shelves are painted black, there are half-built speakers shaped like motorcycles, there's exactly the kind of organizers he likes, a beautifully built workbench...
the next day, he admits his sin to tails. tails shyly asks if he likes the space, if everything was ok, and the shadow he knows melts away into something different as he receives a very tight hug. shadow presses his face into tails' shoulder and he can feel his nose and eyes are damp. he says thank you. so much.
he stands up, composes himself (poorly), and marches away to the kitchen for breakfast, but tails files this memory away in a mental cabinet labeled 'important'.
another scenario i've thought about a lot and have mentioned before, partially related:
amy enjoys tea in the mornings. shadow always insists on making her tea for her.
she always says thank you, but tells him that he doesn't need to do that. he says he'll do it anyway.
he watches her face closely every time she takes that first sip, searching for approval and fearing that she'll be dissatisfied. fearing that she'll lash out at him if she is. but she smacks her lips and says ahh, that's good, and his shoulders relax.
one time, she doesn't voice her approval; she makes a little bit of a 'hm' noise and a face. shadow asks if she doesn't like it, she says it's different from how she usually enjoys her tea but it's ok, she'll drink it anyway - AND it's already out of her hands and poured down the sink as shadow rushes to make her another one.
as the new tea is brewing, amy asks shadow WHY he did that, she would have drank it!!
he says he did it wrong, he disappointed her, and now he'll do it the right way
she AGAIN has to insist that it's fine. shadow asks HOW IS IT FINE???????? I MADE A MISTAKE AND NOW YOU'RE UPSET WITH ME??? and she's like I'M MORE MAD THAT YOU POURED THE TEA DOWN THE DRAIN THAN THE FACT YOU GAVE ME WEIRD TEA!!!!!!!!
he says he won't pour it down the drain again, but asks what else he should do with tea he messed up. amy ignores that question and asks why he's so fussed about this, why he insists on "making it right" and why he thinks messing up a beverage is the worst thing ever.
shadow doesn't have an answer for her at first. he has to think about it. he doesn't really say much.
the actual answer, for the record, is that he made eggman's coffee for him every morning. if it tasted just the slightest bit off or if shadow got measurements even a little bit wrong, eggman would blow up at him; he's gotten scorching coffee poured on his head multiple times, splashed in his face and at his eyes, he's been hit and kicked and seriously hurt over how he's made coffee and other small tasks similar to it in nature.
god forbid he missed eggman's morning coffee entirely. there would be hell to pay if he told eggman to do it himself. so he always has tea ready for amy.
at some point there's a small gathering at tails' house, and she has to FORCE him to just sit the fuck down and let her make the beverages herself. he's confused and upset, he has no idea how to handle something being done FOR him; he's never been at the receiving end of a gesture like that.
but when amy comes back with tea, she insists he take a sip and tell her if she likes it. he feels odd, he wants to refuse, but he accepts anyway and takes a sip. it's fucking delicious. amy beams.
he gets it now.

Tesla Delivers About a Dozen Stainless Steel Cybertruck Pickups as It Tries to Fix Production Woes
I'm really excited. Tesla, the famous electric truck company, just started giving people their cool, new Cybertruck pickups. They handed out about twelve of them.
This is a big deal for Tesla. They've been working hard to fix problems with making trucks and start selling this super new electric one. Everyone has been super excited about the Cybertruck since they first showed it because it looks like it comes from the future and is supposed to do really well on the road.
The Cybertruck's Bold Promise
I first saw the weird Tesla Cybertruck in November 2019. Elon Musk, the big boss of Tesla, showed it off. It's made of steel that doesn't bend and is all pointy, and this grabbed people really hard; loads and loads wanted to buy one, therefore they signed up before it even started being made.
Key features of the Tesla Cybertruck include:
Stainless Steel Body:
Tesla says their Cybertruck's outer shell can really take a hit and not scratch or dent. Now, funny enough, it's made from this super-tough 30X steel kind that I've never talked about before – you know, heretofore. It's pretty wild.
Outstanding Performance:
Depending on the variant, the Cybertruck offers impressive acceleration, with 0-60 mph times ranging from under 6 seconds to just over 2.9 seconds for the high-end tri-motor version.
Electric Range:
You already know Tesla's electric trucks go far. The Cybertruck is just as good. Even though the moon looks closer at night, the best Cybertruck zooms past 500 miles without needing a new charge.
Towing Capacity:
I'm amazed, no joke, by this super cool truck's muscle. It can pull unbelievably heavy things, like over 14,000 pounds! It's made to be handy, not just for families but for work stuff too.
Production Challenges
I couldn't wait to see Tesla's new Cybertruck hit the streets, but making something so huge out of stainless steel turned out to be way harder than they thought. And trying to fit its wacky look into how they usually build cars caused more headaches. Now its arrival is going to be way later than anyone guessed.
I heard that Tesla is starting to send out a few Cybertrucks. They're doing this to learn from the first ones they make. By only sending out a little at first, they can make tiny tweaks along the way, check that the trucks are really good, and hear what the first drivers say about them, thereby making their future trucks even better.
The Significance of the Delivery
You're getting those first Cybertrucks from Tesla and, believe it or not, it shows that they won’t let tough problems stop them from making new things that no other car company made before. It’s a big deal because it makes people think hard about how electric trucks and cars can change the whole car making game. And while the big car makers are starting to make more electric cars and trucks, Tesla is way ahead, always doing wild new stuff and coming up with smart ideas. This is a pretty big moment.
Looking Ahead
I just got a really cool surprise. Tesla is making electric trucks, and they sent out the first twelve Cybertrucks. This is like a peek at what's coming next for their big truck thing. People really want smart trucks that don't need gas, and sending these trucks out shows Tesla can make what folks are after.
We're not quite at the whole making-tons-of-Trucks stage yet, but it’s starting. No doubt getting these first few trucks out is huge, and for me, unpacking all this is still unbelieveably awesome. More than just trucks, you know, it’s a big step toward the future of how we might all drive around.
You get this? The electric truck called Cybertruck, by that car shop Tesla, just gave out almost 12 trucks; it shows they're moving forward after some tough snag with making a lot of them and it stresses how the shop really sticks to launching new ways for cars to move without gas. A ton of cars pulling away from oil and turning electric is the new way, and that fancy and different truck Tesla made; might just shake up how we all get around big time, huh?

Mine name
The thing about writing is, I have no idea how to do it, but I know sometimes I'll find something that, despite being absurd, works.
Today's piece is another example of that. I've shared a few others. This is just one more.
Have you ever played Chrono Trigger on the SNES? Don't bother answering. It doesn't matter. I'm gonna tell this story either way.
There's a moment in the game, where this dude, this tiny frog man:
Tumblr media
Shouts at a mountain, "Mine name is Glenn!"
At least, he does that in the original English version. In the original Japanese version, which is even more original, he says "我が名はグレン!", which just means "My name is Glenn," but it's kind of old-fashioned talk. Because, you see, his name is Glenn. Except, up to this point, he's only called himself Frog to you and the rest of the playable characters.
You meet Frog fairly early on. He appears out of nowhere when you're infiltrating a church full of monsters on a mission to rescue the kidnapped queen. I'm not gonna explain more than this, so either play the game, or don't. Either way, as a wise man once said, "If you can't keep up, don't step up."
Frog is a swordsman, as you might have guessed from that ridiculous picture of him by Akira Toriyama earlier. You know, the dude who did Dragonball. Or… does Dragonball? I guess he still does Dragonball. He also does Dragon Quest, which is way better, but I'm probably the only dude around who thinks that, so I tend to keep that opinion to myself. Anyway, as a swordsman, Frog is just as good, if not better, than your main character Crono, who is also a swordsman of a slightly different variety. Crono uses a katana, and Frog uses a broadsword. One is a curved sword with only one sharp side. The other is a straight sword with two sharp sides.
There might be swords out there in the world with three or more sharp sides, but I don't really like to think about those.
There are, of course, swords out there with no sharp sides at all, only sharp points. Those are called "edgeless swords," and they really do exist, primarily for dueling, because they're still pointy on the end.
Swords with really long handles and short blades that are pointy are often called "spears."
Anyway, enough talk about swords. This is about Frog, by which I mean Glenn. Because we learn, as we play the game, that Frog wasn't always a little frog man. He used to be a little regular man. Actually, a pretty normal-sized regular man. A regular regular man, if you will. He was friends with a great knight, named Cyrus, who was a really big regular man. Cyrus was very strong and cool, while Glenn was average and extremely uncool. Glenn was the kind of guy who let the other kids beat the shit out of him when he was also a kid, because, as he put it, "it hurts to be hit," and therefore he couldn't bring himself to defend himself from the other kids. He didn't want to hurt them.
Cyrus told Glenn in no uncertain terms that saying that meant that Glenn was simply too kind, or "soft," in English. But Glenn didn't change. He was soft up to the very end.
The very end being, of course, when Cyrus attacked a dude named Magus, or 魔王 in Japanese. 魔王 is, you SURELY know, just a generic title meaning "demon king," and is part of the name of Bowser in Japan: 大魔王クッパ, or "Great Demon King Koopa." See, Bowser adds that 大 to the front that means "big," because he's bigger than Magus is.
That is because Bowser is far stronger. Bowser is not in Chrono Trigger, but if he were, he would simply kill Magus with his fire breath and/or by pulling his arms and legs and head into his shell and spinning fast and crushing Magus to death with his body. Magus would not be able to handle that. Magus is pretty strong, but Bowser is far stronger.
Anyway, enough talk about Bowser. This is about Glenn, by which I mean Glenn's horrible and embarrassing defeat at the hands of Magus. Because we learn, as we play the game, that when Cyrus attacked Magus, he lost spectacularly. Magus murdered Cyrus SUPER HARD, and Glenn, well, Glenn was also there, acting as Cyrus's squire and/or little buddy. I'm not really sure what their relationship was. I think Glenn was trying to become a knight, but he was just too goddamn soft. He saw Magus kill Cyrus, and what did Glenn do? Well, it sure as hell wasn't kill Magus right back, I can tell you that.
Instead, what Glenn did was get zapped with a big spell by Magus, and that spell turned regular-sized Glenn into a smaller version of himself who was also a frog. So he started calling himself Frog, but he also became a pretty good swordsman, and he even rescued the queen of the kingdom… TEN YEARS LATER.
Glenn spent ten goddamn years being Frog, living in a hole in the forest all by himself. A lonely existence. A miserable existence! But he did it, without complaint, because what else was he gonna do? Stop being a little frog man? Fuck no. He didn't have the luxury to make a decision like that.
But then Crono comes along. Crono has learned a thing or two about Cyrus, and Magus, and how Magus is trying to summon a giant monster capable of destroying the world. And we know that this monster can destroy the world, because it does, 1399 years later, because, surprise surprise, Chrono Trigger is a time travel story, even though I haven't mentioned that before and won't mention it again.
So you might think, wait, if this thing destroys the world in 1399 years, doesn't that mean we know Magus fucks up the summoning? And yeah, we do, but Crono doesn't. At this point in the story, Crono thinks Magus created the thing here, and it destroys the world later. He doesn't know that it already existed.
That doesn't matter.
Forget all of it.
What matters is that Crono knows there's a sword out there in the world, called the Grand Lion (Masamune in English), that Cyrus used to have. It was made of a special metal. Crono has the broken Grand Lion and a big enough hunk of that metal that he was able to bring it to the world's greatest blacksmith, the man who originally forged it, and get it fixed up. And he also has the Hero's Medal, which Cyrus used to wear, which Cyrus got by defeating a really big frog.
Don't worry about the really big frog. He isn't important. You'd think he is, given that there's also a smaller Frog who used to be a man, but he isn't. He's just a big frog.
Crono hands over the Hero's Medal and the Grand Lion to Frog and tells him, somehow, it's not clear exactly how, because Crono is a silent protagonist, that he wants Frog to help fight Magus. And Frog, well, he doesn't know what to do. He's been beaten down by life. By ten years of living alone, in the forest, much the protagonist of the book I'm writing, because I don't have a single original goddamn idea in my head.
But Frog knows that sometimes a man has to stand up for himself.
男はな、立ち向かって行かなきゃいけない時もあるんだぞ。 There are times when a man must stand and face the things that trouble him.
Those were Cyrus's words to Glenn, years ago, and Glenn knows now that they are true. So, when Crono brings Frog to the mountain that blocks the path to Magus's castle, Frog asks Crono for the Grand Lion.
Crono stabs it into the ground. Frog draws it. And he announces to nobody, and to the world, simultaneously:
"我が名はグレン!" "Mine name is Glenn!"
And he swings the Grand Lion and cuts the mountain in half. He clears the way. He puts the sword away, and that's that.
And God help me, it's one of the greatest lines in any game I can think of, and it's as simple as a man telling us his name. His real name. Not the name he's been using for ten years. Not the shame he's borne for the last decade. He's done being ashamed. He's done running. He's done hiding. He's Glenn. And he always was, even if he forgot for a while. Even if the world forgot for a while.

WHAT IS GOING ON IN YOUR PERSON'S LIFE RIGHT NOW + A MESSAGE FROM THEM
𖦹 this reading includes what is going on in your person’s life right now, what they (or their higher self) want to say to you at this moment and songs they'd like to give you. this reading is more about your future spouse or your future partner, someone who you may not be in contact with but you're curious about what they're doing.
𖦹 so there will be two paragraphs for each pile (what your person is doing and what they want to say to you). you can choose more than one pile. ex: pile 1 for what your person is doing and pile 2 for the message.
𖦹 how does this work? close your eyes and take deep breaths, pick the pile you are most drawn to. If you aren’t drawn to any pile then that’s okay, these messages aren’t for you.
𖦹 take what resonates.

THEIR LIFE
hello pile 01, welcome to your reading. I'm getting a lot of fire energy here, especially leo. I'm hearing Leo in 1st and 10th house, aries in 8th house, aries mars, mars in 10th house and also Venus in 2nd and 3rd house. I'm also getting gemini and capricorn. capricorn mars, aquarius venus. If these aren't your placements then they're most likely your person's placements. or perhaps, those are their transits. I feel a lot of confident energy from your person, I think they are at a good place right now. Your person has been betrayed and heartbroken quite recently but I feel like they're not trying to let that get to them. they're keeping their head high, focusing on their goals and working really hard. the pain motivated them to work hard, maybe as a way to get revenge? In their head, they may think that if they work hard, they can show off their success to the person that broke them like "hey, look at me now!". for some others, it's possible that they're working really hard because the work distracts them from the pain and the situation. they're acting like the pain isn't affecting them, I'm seeing them just laughing and hanging out with a group of people (their friends?) acting like theyre not dealing with any problems. your person is definitely at a period of time where work is only on their mind, they're hungry for success. success is the only thing your person is heading towards, it's the only direction they see. love isn't on your person's mind at all so I doubt that you've crossed their mind. but little do they know, the direction that they're heading towards will also lead them to you. your person may have travelled somewhere recently or maybe they're thinking of travelling somewhere else. there is change on the horizon for your person, maybe they will be promoted soon or moving countries, going to university, etc. they are so ambitious. I'm seeing piles of paper on desks, papers stuck on walls with dates and notes on them and also quotes. motivational quotes perhaps. your person is also working out, they could be getting up quite early. 6 am? I'm getting mad mars in 6th house vibes from your person. they're feeling burnt out, they have so much on their plate but they're not stopping anytime soon because they like it and also because they have no choice. they're also taking many responsibilities, I'm hearing house chores, work and looking after their parents or siblings. your person could be a student, a business person or they could work in an office. they're organizing their workspace and keeping track of their schedule, getting ready for the next chapter of their life. laziness is not in your person's vocabulary!
THEIR MESSAGE
you know, I am so busy right now. I'm too exhausted to even think about love, to think about you. I don't think about it anymore unlike before. I know at times you feel like we're nowhere close and you doubt my existence because of how distant I feel and I'm sorry. It is partially true, we're nowhere close to eachother and we're both individual human beings. let's live in the present and experience things and meet new people without having to think about eachother. I don't feel right about thinking of the future and just hoping for something to happen, hoping to just end up with someone like you. It doesn't feel right. I need to do something, I need to take action. that's exactly what I'm doing now. It gives me a sense of stability knowing that I'm taking action and there's a high possibility of my dreams coming true. I've promised myself that I won't stop working until I've achieved everything. I can't do all of this by myself, I need your help too. I'm asking you a favour, do your part. I'm doing mine. work hard and don't slack off. I'm sorry again for sounding cold, I'm not like this on a daily basis. I'm just really tired. I need to get my point across. don't slack off. please. I'll keep saying that. oh, that reminds me. at times I will definitely sound like a teacher or a boss, it's just a habit I got from work. It's not my intention to make you feel stupid, I know you're smart. I wanted you to know that because I don't want you to think I'm generally a cold person. I'm not. when tarot readers or psychics or astrologers or whoever says that I'm cold, they only mean when I'm at work or when I'm busy or serious. I would never be like that to someone I love, especially you. truthfully speaking, you don't know much about me at all especially if you think I'm a cold person. that thought you have of me stops now. I'm guessing that you're curious about me now. I like to look neat and clean, I don't like bright colours, they look unprofessional. I hang out with my friends sometimes and we just have lunch at a café or a local restaurant. I'm on my computer a lot so my back always hurts but I'm doing exercises to help me with it. I have too many cookbooks that I don't use because I don’t have much time, I end up freestyling my food and cooking up some eggs. I need to get better at managing time. I don't like people that don't practice what they preach, it irritates me. now for my appearance. this, in no way is useful information that will help us in any way but I suppose I'll just tell you. I have a sharp nose, it's pointy and a little wide. I don't have any piercings. I don't have bangs. as for my eyes, they're brown and deep-set. my lips? they're just lips. you'll love them anyway so it doesn't matter. my hair? neat and brown. you'll love it too. that's enough. you can stop trying to get to know me now, leave that for when we meet. you can know me more yourself when the time comes, I like the process of getting to know someone and the effort someone puts into getting to know me. until then, keep working hard.

THEIR LIFE
I’m getting cancer energy from the pile, also pisces and gemini and libra. I’m hearing cancer/pisces/ libra venus, venus in 5th/7th/12th house, pisces moon, mercury in 7th house, cancer in 2nd house, gemini rising. if these aren’t your placements then they’re most likely your person’s, if not then these may be their transits. right now I feel like your person is trying something new, especially a hobby. I’m getting ‘painting’ for some of you. for others, your person has started something new like a project or they moved to a new house, something like that. there’s this feeling of ‘newness’ in your person’s life right now. they have so much passion for whatever this ‘newness’ is. they’re excited for this change, they can’t wait to move to the next stage. I’m feeling a positive energy coming from your person. their creativity is flowing through their blood, they feel inspired and joyous. some of you may not like to hear this but your person may have gotten in a relationship with someone or they want to get into a relationship with someone. they have a crush. I feel like there’s still an important choice to be made and your person has waited such a long time for the next stage, the relationship stage. I feel like their crush or their partner isn’t showing them that much attention, it feels quite one sided (your person giving more), they’re doing so much for their crush/partner but I feel like your person isn’t seeing it right, they’re just so blinded. like a little kid when they have a crush. If you don’t like what you’re hearing, don’t worry, they’re your person for a reason. anyways for others of you, I’m seeing your person listening to music while they’re doing their new hobby. painting is coming really strong, I’m seeing an easel. If it’s not a hobby then your person is feeling in love, whether it be a person or something else. their head is in the clouds, they’re listening to love songs, feeling so inspired by everything around them. love and venus themes is really important in your person’s life right now. If you’ve been listening to love songs recently or if you just feel all lovey-dovey, it’s most likely because of your person, you’re connected to your person. or if you feel inspired out of nowhere, it’s probably because of your person too. I just felt like I had to let you know that. sooner or later though, your person will realise that the relationship is one sided and they will give up on it. this will hit your person really hard, it will be a hard lesson for them. perhaps even the last lesson because I feel like your person has always done too much for people that don’t deserve their love. your person has experienced a lot and learnt many lessons except for this, when they learn this though, they will have learnt all the lessons. they can tick this off their box. I’m getting such wise Pisces vibes from them. for lots of you, your person is already in the 'realisation' stage and there's about to be a change in their life.
THEIR MESSAGE
It’s been challenging these days, maybe even these past few weeks and maybe even months too. It’s fine though, I can get through it. you don’t have to worry about me. I have a gut feeling that something is going to happen soon, disappointments? I’m not surprised, I’ve been so stuck in my own head. I don’t know why I keep giving people more. so stupid of me. maybe it’s not my fault? maybe it’s their fault for giving less, who knows. I don’t know how to stop. why do I do this? I keep getting disappointed over and over again, I’m starting to not have hope anymore. despite this, I still think love is beautiful. with the right person. love is not only limited to romantic love though, which is what I’ve learnt recently. I’ve been so fixated on romantic relationships that I’ve forgotten about the beautiful things around me. surprisingly, there’s love everywhere. do you know what I love? I love the stars, I love flat white coffee, I love the smell of fresh grass, I love nature and the sun, I love dogs (especially small dogs) and I love experiences. experiences that shape me into a better person, painful or not, I love those. not to sound masochistic – but I love pain. I learn from pain. love has always been painful for me but I’m still giving people my all, wrong people to be precise. Is that why I keep falling for people that don’t care about me? because I love getting hurt? now that I’ve thought of it, it sounds terrible. I need to fix that. I feel embarrassed now that you know this, please don’t shake your head. I will fix it. I want this cycle to end. don’t be worried about me. you should continue living your life, there’s yet so much you can experience. places to go, new people to meet, new activities to do. so much. I’d love to experience so many things with you. do you like road trips? I’d love to go on a picnic date too, does stargazing sound good? we could travel around the world, that’s on my bucket list. so many ideas but there’s still so much distance and time between us. I feel excited thinking about it, I want to do so much right now and experience so many things. by the time we meet, I might already have a long white beard because I’ll be so wise *laughs*. who knows, white hair does look awesome. I think it might suit me actually. on a serious note, I want you to know that you should not be afraid to try new things. don't be afraid of change. regret is scarier than change, staying in the same place and not growing is scarier than change. you may lose something good but what if you gain something even better? I’ll be there for you every step of the way, I’m always there for you even though I’m not there with you physically. do you feel me? I’m so proud of you. If you see an opportunity, take it or you’ll regret it later. don’t be afraid of saying no or saying yes, you deserve to be heard, assert your dominance *laughs*. I love you, take care of yourself. you can do it. [:

THEIR LIFE
I'm getting mutable and fixed energy here, especially scorpio, virgo, leo, sagittarius. maybe scorpio rising and sagittarius rising with pluto in 1st house. I'm hearing saturn in 8th house, saturn in 22°, scorpio sun or moon aspecting saturn, pluto and sun or moon sitting in the same house. if these aren't your placements then they're most likely your person's. these could be their transits too. your person is going through a transformation, something had recently happened in their life that has caused this transformation. I'm thinking it's death, a death of a loved one like a family member, a friend or a pet. someone close to them. If it's not a death of a loved one then it's a death of a cycle, a death of a job, a relationship, something like that. something that came to an end. it's affecting your person badly and they feel so much guilt. they're missing and mourning over whatever this is. they're pessimistic, they feel like the whole world is against them and that their would turned upside down. they have no hope anymore, they're not seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. I'm seeing that image of Yuu Otasaka from the anime Charlotte. I think your person is exactly like that right now. depressed. I see tissues, dark rooms and hoodies and blankets. also gaming for a number of you (interesting how the picture you chose is a picture of keys). they're going through it right now and they need support. your person is not communicating with many people or interacting with anyone at all, they're pushing people away. looking at the picture of the pile you chose, I realised it says "wish you were here". now this could mean that they wish that the person they lost were still with them or they wish that someone could come and support them or comfort them, or for a few amount of you, this could be meaning you. they wish you were there with them. however, I don't think love is a thought that comes in their mind in this period of time. it's more like, they're screaming into a void wishing someone could hear them, not directly meaning you. for others of you, I'm getting a different situation. your person may have gotten fired or they tried something but it didn't work out and they had so much hope for it. they badly wanted it to work out and now your person is feeling disappointed in themselves, like someone just ripped away something really valuable to them. your person doesn't know that the reason this, whatever this is, didn't work out is because it wasn't meant to. It's not part of their divine plan. It honestly saved your person from future problems but they don't know that. It's a blessing in disguise. I'm strongly feeling it's something related to their job or maybe love, 'right place, wrong time' is what I'm hearing. your person is blaming themselves for it all, thinking it was because of time, lack of planning or they didn't try hard enough. It isn't true, they should be easy on themselves.
THEIR MESSAGE
I don't know what to say. I don't feel like saying much. why do you want to know anyway? do you care? am I interesting? I'm not all that special, you know. here I go again, making sh*t sad. I'll try and make this light-hearted as possible because you shouldn't see this side of me, not so soon. not like this. *silence* I'll start off by saying that you can't control whatever life throws at you. but you can control your reactions and how you deal with it. I'm not doing very well, not dealing with it the way I usually do. It hit me hard and I don't like being sad like this and not doing anything, not wanting to get out of bed, not wanting to talk to anyone, not finding joy in the things I love doing. I hate this f*cking feeling and the way I'm dealing with it. I heard that you should let yourself feel everything once in a while. I'm f*cking feeling everything alright. why did I not let myself feel before? now it's all consuming me. all of my problems and emotions, this darkness inside of me, erupting. I regret this. I regret acting like I was fine before, finding distractions. now I know that being distracted doesn't necessarily mean that it's gone, the problem is still there. don't do what I did. let yourself feel. or it will all build up and eat you alive. you don't want that. I don't want that. I don't want you to be sad, god no. definitely not like this. but if being sad will help you then that's certainly fine by me, just don't act like you're fine. that will hurt me much more. just do what I say. showing emotions is not a sign of weakness. look at me, I'm so f*cked up because of not thinking that. this feeling will go away, right? right. If you need to let it all out, do it. I can feel your sadness, the nights you cried, I felt them. those tears of yours, I want to wipe them away but I'm not there. it sucks. I need you here. I need a good f*cking hug right now. I want you to be happy but I don't know how. I'd do anything to see that smile of yours. that precious smile that I have yet to see. I know it's precious. listen to me. I need you. I need you to stay strong. you're so strong and much more emotionally intelligent than I am. I am so in awe. your strength gives me energy, you give me energy. you're the light of my life. I hope our kids will be as beautiful and as amazing as you. I'm glad I was given the chance to talk to you like this. I love you, sunshine.

To be honest to read all about those weird "fae" rules like if they are universal confuses me. I don't know where exactly fae or fairies came from but they seem to be European in origin and make sense in that context. What I say is that is to me it doesn't make sense that I would step into a "fairy ring" here in Chaco, Argentina, and I would get kidnapped by the Seelie court (I don't even know how that works).
Most native peoples have a concept of "nature spirits", it is a rather universal belief. I remember reading in an anthropological paper about a Qom (or Toba) community living in Buenos Aires, where the researches interviewed the people about their legends, and some interesting things they found out is that they are influenced by European iconography (the Pombero, for example, is drawn by kids with a pointy red hat, in the style of European gnomes or "duendes" as they're known here) and one person who said that he believed that "these beings are all over the world, not only here, every place must have some of them".
And indeed I think the concept of nature spirits is almost universal. Every culture in the world has them in one way or another. I just don't think they all act like "fae".
And to assume so is a bit interesting in the cultural sense. To see someone in North America believing on them, while perhaps they don't know the beliefs of the native peoples that inhabited the place they live now. Perhaps, it's because European and North American temperate forests are broadly similar; same flora and fauna overall. It's easier to believe that there are the same fairies than in Europe.
But I was born and raised in the subtropical Chaco, the land of thick dry forests, giant golden rivers, and palm trees. Maybe my ancestors in the snowy Alps and the hills of Galicia did believe in fairies. I find it difficult to believe on them, I can't picture a bearded gnome with a quirky red mushroom cap (which don't even exist here) in the sweltering heat of the monte. I might be of European descent, of course, but this is my home and I know of no other. The temperate forests that continuously appear in Hollywood and Eurocentric popular culture are as alien to me as the Sahara or the Caribbean.
Yet, I also wasn't raised with the beliefs of the native peoples of this land, or their culture or their language. What I've learned I've learned from books and computer screens. That separation exists, and one could write a lot about it.
But my grandparents told me about the stories of the Pomberito and the guardians of the forest, how the birds came to be and the monsters that attack the kids who don't sleep the siesta, and the legends of the Guaraní and the Qom and the Wichí. I have heard the stories of the saints and urban legends from my friends. I am more familiar with them than anything that my ancestors in Europe might have believed in, and yet I was raised Christian and I do not really believe -or do I?- in the beliefs that predate the existence of my family, even my country, here.
I was raised in the collage of Native and European beliefs that create Argentine myth and culture. Where religion and myth, identity and heritage mix in something that can't be defined or put into boxes.
Much to think about.

So, I'm writing this to document what I can only assume is my sudden descent into insanity. I can't possibly be THAT bad a navigator, and yet as I write this I've been trapped in Ikea for 2 days. I haven't seen another person in the entire time I've been here. I thought it was a prank at first. Turn the place into a maze, get all the people out and see how long it takes me to get lost, then everyone has a good old laugh. Realised that wasn't the case when I tried to backtrack. Everything had changed, so I ended up lost. Instead of the exit, it was just row after row of bookcases.
So, I'm trapped in Ikea. Sounds like the setup for a bad joke. The lights went out at 10pm. Nearly gave me a fucking heart attack, that loud electrical THUNK sound and then pitch blackness. Place is full of beds though and my phone has a torch on it - but no damn signal - so I found a bed and went to sleep. Spent most of the next day trying to find my way out with no luck. Did find a restaurant serving those meatballs though, so at least I won't starve. That's probably the punchline to that joke. Anyway they were still warm and fresh, but I haven't seen anyone around who could have cooked them. Made my way back to the beds before the lights cut out again since it's too dark to search with them off.
It's 9.10am now, the lights came back on a little while ago. I'm sure I've searched the entire area around where I came in now and the exit obviously isn't here, so I'm going to pick a direction and hope for the best.
Day 3 of my magical Ikea mystery adventure. If I wasn't sure that there was something seriously weird about this place before, I am now. Walked for 3 hours in a more or less straight line (insert Ikea joke here) before I came across a ladder next to one of those huge stock shelves they have here. Climbed up to get my bearings, and it looks like this place just stretches on forever. Like that scene from the Lion King, except instead of trees and grass it was all shelves and tables and crap. I did see a person moving not too far away though, so I headed over.
Thought it was a staff member at first - it was wearing the uniform. And hell maybe it was, maybe freakish 7ft tall monsters with long arms, short legs and no faces are just the kinds of thing they want working at Super Ikea. Damn thing completely ignored me though, and with no eyes or ears I can't even be sure it knew I was there. Thought about shoving it or something to get its attention, but its hands were big enough to crush a water melon so I decided against it. It just kept moving along and eventually I lost sight of it so I decided to carry on the way I was going.
Anyway, no comfy bed for me tonight. Looks like I've entered the Improbably Hard and Pointy Table section of the store. Guess I'll have to make do with some bunched up tablecloths. Phone battery died during the day too. Didn't work anyway, but I feel like I've just lost some vital lifeline.
You ever see one of those cartoons where they're going through doors in a hallway and they just pop out of another door in the same hallway? That's how I feel right now. I've seen nothing but the same identical bookshelf for 2 days now. Just row after row after row of them. I mean, come on. I love books as much as the next guy, but this is excessive. I'm obviously still moving forwards though, I can see the signs hanging overhead passing by. Too bad none of them say "Exit".
Not sure who I was addressing that question to. Lets just say it was practice for the autobiography I'm going to write when I get out of here. I'll call it "My perfectly normal trip to a regular old Ikea".
If I ever get out o
Finally found some other people! Yeah, turns out I'm not the only poor bastard trapped in here. Lucky for me, I guess. My 6th night here, 2 of those staff things came at me in the dark. Different from the first one I saw, but still messed up. Heard them coming, they were saying that the store was closed and I had to leave the building, all nice and polite like. I'm not sure which part of that was weirder, that they don't have mouths or that they were apparently trying to kill me while they were saying it. Came at me like rabid dogs.
So, I legged it. Sprinting through ikea in the dark like a fucking madman. I saw it when I cleared another stand of those giant stock shelves, all lit up with torches and floodlights. They've built a whole town in here! Got a massive wall built out of shelves and beds and tables and whatever else. I swear to god it was the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. Anyway I guess they saw me coming (or maybe they heard my girlish manly bellows of fear), because they had a gate open and 2 people were there waving me in. Heard the staff things slam into the gate behind me after it closed, still politely informing us all that the store was now closed. They wandered off eventually though.
They call the town Exchange, because that's whats on the sign hanging from the ceiling directly above it. Exchange and Returns. All lit up against the night using lights they've found and plugged into the power lines. And there are beds and food and people. Over 50 wonderful people with regular sized limbs and a full set of facial features. It's now my 7th night here, and the first one not spent in darkness. A full week living in Ikea. There's probably a TV show in that somewhere.
Now that I'm around other people, I'm starting to feel more normal. Maybe normal isn't the word. But after a week with only the sound of my own footsteps for company, I was becoming increasingly sure that I'd just gone nuts. That I was tied up in some padded room somewhere, banging my head against the wall. But no, I feel quite sane now, thank you very much!
Apparently there are other towns out there. Some with more people, some with less. I found that fairly mind-boggling - how can that many people go missing with no one noticing. Surely someone would have noticed that everyone who goes to ikea seems to fucking vanish. Or maybe it's not everyone. Maybe we're just the lucky ones.
The people here just call those staff monster things the Staff. Apparently they are fine during the day, minding their own business walking the aisles. As soon as those lights go out though, they go fucking bonkers. So during the day people go out to find food, water and whatever else they need. Apparently there are restaurants and shops around that randomly get restocked. No one knows how. Maybe the staff do it. Apparently they aren't very good at their jobs though because the restocking sometimes takes a while, which means the food needs to be rationed. Maybe if they weren't so busy chasing people around in the dark they'd get more done.
Anyway when night comes the staff go nuts and everyone holds up inside the walls. Apparently it's the same everywhere in this place, whatever this place is. The Ur-Ikea, from whence all other Ikeas sprang. Or maybe we're all still just in the regular ikea and this is all some fever dream brought on by mind-numbing boredom. Who knows.
Been here for 10 days now. Most of the people I asked said they stopped keeping track a long time ago and one guy, Chris, said he'd been in here for years.
Years.
[ILLEGIBLE SCRIBBLES]
Apparently there are rumours of people who do manage to get out. And of people who see the exit, only to have it vanish before their very eyes. I get the feeling not everyone believes that, but I do. Explains how we got stuck in here in the first place (sort of). And I mean, come on. Staff monsters, row after endless row of high quality Swedish furniture. I don't know why they would find a disappearing door so hard to believe in.
Anyway, I went out scavenging for food at a nearby shop with Sandra and Jerry today. Once you learn the landmarks of this place it's not so hard to navigate. The overhead signs help a lot, but there are others; not too far in the distance a huge section of those giant stock shelves has collapsed against each other and way off in the east (we all assume it's east anyway - apparently Ikea doesn't sell compasses) is some kind of tower that looks like its made of wood, reaches all the way to the ceiling. Maybe they were trying to break out through the roof. Lights up at night so there must be people there, but its apparently a few days walk (which means it must be miles away) so no one here really knows for sure. Apparently I got incredibly lucky sleeping out in the open for a week without getting ripped to bits by the staff. That's me. Lucky lucky lucky.
We found some food in the shop. Guess the staff restocked it during the night, which was nice of them. There was a telephone on the wall, so I figured I'd try it out. There was a voice on the other end, but they were just talking nonsense. Random words strung together with no real meaning. You ever see a video of someone with aphasia? Kind of sounded like that. Didn't answer me when I spoke to them anyway. Sandra says all the phones in here are the same.
Oops, asking the journal questions again!
I was thinking last night. The ceiling on this place is pretty high and as far as anyone can tell it goes on forever. Shouldn't there be some kind of weather in here? I'm sure I read about some NASA building that was so big it had its own weather patterns, with clouds and stuff. This place is definitely bigger than that, but now that I think about it I'm pretty sure I've never felt so much as a temperature change in here.
I'll add it to the Grand List of Weird Bullshit.
The staff attacked the Exchange last night. Must have been 20 or 30 of them all just asking us to leave the store calm as you like, while trying to smash the walls down with their bare hands. Apparently this happens pretty regularly, so everyone is prepared for it. Knives from the restaurants, lawn mower blades made into hatchets, a fire axe. One guy, Wasim, even made a functional crossbow. Anyway the walls have holes in them, which I hadn't noticed before, specifically so we can stab out at the staff when they attack. Took a couple of them down myself. They don't seem to bleed, which is weird, but they go down as easy as a regular person once you start sticking holes in them.
We had to haul the bodies away in the morning. Apparently the dead ones will attract more during the night, so we had to get them away from Exchange. We have a couple of those trolley things they use to move big boxes around, so we loaded them up and took them over to Pickup. Apparently people just name everything in here after whatever sign is hanging overhead.
Pickup was grisly. There were hundreds, maybe thousands of dead staff all piled up. There was no smell, which was a blessing. Apparently in addition to not bleeding, these things don't rot either. My curiosity got the better of me while we were unloading them, so I took a look at one of the more cut-up ones. They're just skin, or something that looks like skin, all the way through. No muscle, no bone, no organs. Are they even really alive in the first place? They certainly seem like they have bones when they are moving around, pounding on the walls. And I'm sure I felt more resistance than just skin when the knife went in during the night. Maybe something happens to them when they die. Just one more thing on the ever-increasing list of Weird Shit that goes on in here, I guess.
Something occurred to me, after the staff attack the other night. Every time you see a situation like this on TV or in a film, like its the end of the world or everyone is trapped on an island or whatever, once groups like ours start to form people always seem to turn on each other. Fighting for food or dominance or whatever else. That hasn't happened here. Apparently people from other towns come by from time to time, just to check in or occasionally to trade if they are short on something. But everything is always cordial. Friendly, even. Maybe its the threat of the staff, or perhaps the constant restocking of supplies in the shops means there's nothing much to fight over.
Maybe people are just better than they are generally given credit for. That's a nice thought. I think I'll go with that one.
A dozen people showed up at the gates this afternoon from a town called Trolleys. Apparently the staff broke through the walls and tore the town apart during the night. These 12 are the only survivors out of over a hundred. We let them in, obviously. One more point in the human decency column. Later, I asked if anyone knew how many of these towns there were out there. Between us and the new folks, we managed to come up with over 20 names. 20 towns filled with people, and who knows how many beyond that.
The motto for this place should be "How Is That Even Possible". Surely someone, somewhere must be looking for the thousands of people that must be in here.
I've been here for a little over 2 months now. Not that much changes, as it turns out. A couple of new people showed up, same story as the rest of us. Nice little trip to Ikea and suddenly they're trapped in Billy Bookcase's House of Faceless Weirdos. The staff attack the Exchange once or twice a week. We kill them and haul their bodies off, sometimes they hurt some of us first. They killed a guy called Jared a couple of weeks back. It was awful, frankly. Turns out regular humans still bleed in here, even if the staff don't. We tried our best, but none of us are doctors.
Jared was a good guy. He deserved better. We all do.
It occurred to me a couple of days after that, none of us were really looking for a way out of here. I don't even know where we'd start.
One of those quad copter things with a camera attached buzzed passed Exchange today. I thought it meant that someone was finally looking for us, that help was on the way. Apparently it's not the first time this has happened, though. Same thing happened a few months ago, and everyone is still here.
No idea if it saw us, it didn't stop if it did. Just kept flying until we could no longer see it.
Note: Based on recovery time of the journal, this entry appears to line up approximately with our first successful test piloting a drone inside SCP-3008-1. Analysis of footage shows a walled settlement under a sign labelled "Exchange and Returns". Attempts to relocate the settlement failed. Origin of previously sighted drones is unknown.
I started talking to people about the stuff they miss from home during dinner today. Probably not the best idea I've ever had, everyone seemed pretty down after. A bunch of people here have families. Husbands and wives, kids. Dogs. Franklin apparently has a pet llama, though I'm not sure I buy that.
But apparently some of the people here have some seriously odd gaps in their knowledge. 3 of them had never heard of the International Space Station, 2 of them seemed to think █████ ███████ was the Prime Minister, and one of them had apparently never heard of the Statue of Liberty. I believe them, too. They seemed just as confused as the rest of us.
The more I thought about it though, the more it started to explain a few things. What if the reason no one is looking for all us missing people is because we haven't all come from the same place. This is going to sound weird (maybe that should be the motto for this place) but what if all the people here have come from different dimensions? Realities? Whatever you call it. I've seen enough TV shows to know the drill. Sarah comes from a place where there is no Statue of Liberty. They didn't launch a space station where Wasim is from. If everyone here came from different places, even from ones that seem identical, there'd be no huge missing persons panic. No mass search. We'd just be a blip, a single missing person in a world of non-stop news.
Well. That was a fun train of thought.
Just realised that yesterday was the six month anniversary of my arrival here. I wonder if Ikea sells party hats. The routine around here has remained more or less the same. More new folk show up, one every couple of weeks or so. Food supplies go up and down, but we've never actually had a major shortage. Occasionally we get a visitor from one of the nearby towns, usually Checkouts or Aisle 630. We check in with each other from time to time, occasionally trade supplies if someone gets particularly low on something. It's comforting, in a way. A reminder that we aren't alone in here, some small glimmer of civilisation. Sometimes they bring medical supplies. Apparently there's a pharmacy a few towns down from Checkouts that gets restocked every now and then, so they share out what they can. I've never heard of an Ikea with a pharmacy before but at this point I wouldn't be surprised if someone stumbled on an Ikea Organ Harvesting Lab. Would certainly explain the staff.
Speaking of our faceless jailers, their attacks have been getting worse lately. 3 or 4 times a week now, with twice as many staff as there used to be. No idea where they all come from, or why the attacks have increased. We tried following one of them during the day a few weeks ago, me and Sarah. Wanted to see if they lead back to a staff room or something. Didn't seem to go anywhere though, just randomly walked through the aisles. We had to turn back before we found anything.
We've been reinforcing the walls, trying to arm ourselves better. Certainly no lack of materials to use. Wasim has been making more crossbows, but it's pretty slow going.
Too bad Ikea doesn't sell guns.
Note: No new personnel have entered SCP-3008 at Site-██ in the time span indicated in this entry.
The attacks are getting bad now. Almost every night, and with so many staff that the bodies almost pile high enough for others to climb the walls. I think we're in real trouble here.
Exchange is
I think Exchange is done. We got hit pretty bad last night. Not many casualties, but the wall is wrecked. We finally figured out why the attacks had been escalating, too. A box of supplies had a chunk of one of the staff in there. No idea how it happened but apparently a piece of one will draw them as well as a full body. Too late now in any case, there's too many bodies for us to haul away and still have time to fix the wall before night. Candace has called a meeting. I suspect there will be talk of abandoning Exchange, maybe try and get shelter at Checkouts or something.
It's already getting late though. I don't think we'll have time to make it. Maybe some of us will. I was fine for that first week out in the dark, after all. But then, how often can I keep getting lucky.
I'm only writing this for a sense of closure, I guess. For me, or for anyone who finds this. If this is the final entry here, I hope whoever is reading this is doing so from outside of this place.
My biggest fear? If I do die tonight, I'll just wake up here again in the morning.
Note: This is the last entry. It is assumed that while attempting to reach the "Checkouts" settlement he was separated from the rest of his group by a pursuing SCP-3008-2 instance and happened upon the exit.

Wow. Are all the drawings yours? They're really good. I've always wanted to be able to draw like that. But idk. I keep saying that I'll think about it when i get older and have the right stuff. But seeing someone else my age be able to do it, makes me not wanna wait. Im good at art and i can recreate stuff really well but i cant seem to get my own drawing style. Even if i do make any oc's i cant redraw them in diff positions and stuff. If youre willing to share, what did you do to get where u r
Yes all of the drawings are mine, and It’s so nice to hear that you like them, thank you for all those kind words:)
I too am still trying to figure out my style, and still have a lot to learn about digital art and obviously of art in general.
I looked through your art and think you're really good! I don’t know how it is for other people, but for me it was best to not try to find my style, but rather just try to get better and as I improved my style just kind of... came to be? (I’m having so much trouble putting that into words haha). I only started drawing digitally a few months ago, and one thing that really surprised me was how much it changed my style. I go to an art school, and usually do traditional art. I swear my traditional art looks NOTHING like my digital art, to the point that you'd never guess it eas made by the same person. Basically, what I'm saying is that if you want to find your style, if it is possible for you, you might want to consider doing some digital. based on your drawings I think it could be really cool. if that's not your thing, maybe just trying different types of colors (I mean like acrylics, watercolors, etc.) will help you develop your art. I find that every time I do something a little different it helps.
Also a little trick that I find helpful for drawing the same characters in different poses is writing down their ‘features’. for example, when I draw Lily Evans I always give her a round nose, full cheeks, pointy chin, thin eyebrows, big round ears and so on. knowing exactly what features identify the face of your character will help you drew them again.
And yes. practice.

What do you think of the opinion that reptiles shouldn't be kept at all since they're not (and impossible to become) domesticated? Idk if you've heard abt the blog @/zoologicallyobssessed but they seem pretty steadfast in that opinion. Not trying to start anything, just as someone who wants the best for their animals I'm curious of what informed reptile keepers like you think. I've asked a friend that's a vet and they think keeping reptiles is ok, but I was wondering on your view on the opinion
Im betting there is more to the "reptiles shouldnt be kept in captivity because they're wild" statement, but I didnt find anything about it on their blog.
That's someone's views out there though, even if not that specific blogger's, so here's info anyway.
that's simplistic and ignorant. First off, why just reptiles? Many other species are quite poorly suited for human care- it doesnt matter if they're reptiles or mammals or fish (👀 looking at you betta community) or peacocks. Aside from that, we cannot learn to keep these animals properly if we choose not to keep them at all and not keeping reptiles is not an option, not only because reptile keeping is already established, and saying "reptiles shouldnt be kept in captivity" would probably mean euthanizing thousands, if not millions? Of animals. Not to mention, if we don't keep them, some will become extinct, leading to my second point:
Saying a wild animal shouldnt be kept in captivity because they are wild ignores all the work being done in conservation. Private entities are almost the sole contributors to reestablishing wild populations of reptiles, with very scant exceptions of some actual dedicated facilities doing the work. I want to say it was the indigo snake that has most recently been a great example of how important the private breeding realm is for reptiles. I'm probably confusing my species but basically it all began from one private breeder who saw the species declining rapidly, and brought it to the public attention and started making his owns strides to save the species before getting conservation initiatives to help. He obtained permission to reintroduce the species to locations and bring the populations back. That's basically the story with every reptile reintroduction. I can promise you, theres nearly no funding in conservation to begin with and people arent really donating to things like "save the Gila monster!" Or whatever. (YET! Reptiles are starting to become more popular)
I wanted to make the argument against myself that current common reptile keeping is super gross and promotes minimal care for no benefit to the animal, but that can reasonably said about every animal, including the domestic ones. How many people regularly get their dog/cat dental care? Buy from responsible breeders vs backyard/craigslist breeders? Learn dog behavior so their toddler doesnt end up at the pointy end of a furball? Bad keepers are bad keepers in any species. It's not the type of animal that is the problem. (But the problem probably is at least partially due to capitalism promoting pets as a necessity for every family, but that's another convo for another time)
When all is said and done though, on a personal level, I could care less about what a random blog thinks about my hobbies. I keep and breed snakes because I find enjoyment in it. There is 0 scientific value in what I do, unless I started writing case studies or something lol. I'm for damn sure not breeding for conservation 🤣 (YET). At some point, you just gotta decide for yourself where your morals/ethics/whatever are and be unapologetic about the way you live, assuming it's not taking advantage of a living critter (be a responsible keeper, yknow? Always aim for and promote better care). Reptile keeping isnt inherently troublesome. But then again, asking a reptile breeding/keeping blog if they think keeping reptiles in captivity is okay kind of feels like asking a candy manufacturer if they feel bad causing sugar addiction hahaha
