OH how i do respect a blunt, shameless "we have a definite vision, but it'll take 2 movies, and we are not going to even TRY to PRETEND otherwise, so, no sequel hook, no bullshit, we're not clipping our own tendons or hedging things just in case we can't actually get the final part made, this is, To Be Continued, Bitch" rugpull, so, much, more, than any amount of relentless marketing and a formless pressure to go watch 30 other pretty middling, interchangeable and uninspired movies if you Maybe want fire an extra synapse or two when eating the next inevitable scoop of homogenous sludge

The thing I still do not understand about this whole movie debacle is why they did not choose to do the filming during free practice..like ok, if you absolutely must suck musty geriatric abuser dick and doing something sensible like constructing the race scenes via CGI is out of the question, there are still ways to do it that don't involve putting a civilian in a race car in actual race conditions in a formation lap (and potentially with protesters on track too??). How did anyone greenlight this at all

I have a big google doc thing where I keep track of media and stuff (putting everything in loosely ranked categories), which is mostly just for my own reference so I know what tv shows I've already seen before, etc. and I never really look back through it, typically just a quick "okay, watched two movie in the past 8 months, need to quickly slap them somewhere in the lists. okay. done. save document. exit". But today I was actually reading through some of the old notes and there are like... MULTIPLE places where my comment is basically "It would have been good if it were about elves" or "I wish there was a fantasy show made in this same style" or "It's well made, but I just keep thinking about how I would like it more if everyone was an elf or was in old 1700s costumes" or etc like...... lol.... Most biased media ranking system on earth blatantly made by someone with an extremely hyperspecific range of narrow interests. It'd be like if a food reviewer only had 5 foods they actually liked, so they'd just go to a pizza place and be like "eh, the pizza was okay, but I just think it would be better if it was cereal instead. :/ ...2 out of 10"

You know, I think what i fear most about all these soulless Disney remakes is that one day they'll take Hunchback of Notre Dame, one of the strongest and most daring Disney movies ever in its depiction of showing the dark sides of religion without demonizing faith as a whole, and that they'll take Judge Claude Frollo and either make him "sympathetic" or way less extreme than in the original, since Disney is nowhere near as ballsy to do something like directly criticize religious extremists anymore, I think, and that would just DESTROY the great impact that movie's messaging had.
That's not to say I have anything against sympathetic villains, but Frollo is one that was so strong BECAUSE of how awful he was and the position he held, and that fierce kind of villainy should NEVER be changed in his case imo. Very strong teaching moments in there for kids.

Just watched Ugly Dolls for the 1st time.
That movie went about how I expected story/plot wise. Gotta say Lou was obvious but I'm a bit disappointed they didn't go the route of him being like...well meaning and sticking to the parameters of expectations for how they're "meant to be" and not realizing he's wrong or causing harm by not being a free thinker and actively going against the concept and then being taught how to change and do better instead of yknow...diabolical and slightly deranged because he's somewhat broken.
Kinda funny that he's completely disregarded after being thrown in the wash when he was practically a cult leader. We only see him a mess as he tries to mop in the credits.
BUT ENOUGH OF THAT!!
I kinda wanna talk about the brief display of raw emotion Lou gave when ranting like a lunatic at the end of his rope at the green bunny thing: Mayor Ox.
According to both, they're old friends.
According to Mayor Ox they were like brothers.
According to Lou....well...he took the fact that Ox wanted to "leave him" like every one else SUPER personally.
I'm curious 🤔 on how the fandom for this movie (is there a fandom???) handles the relationships, consequences, and interpretations of Lou's mental and emotional state.
Like before I watched the movie I only ever saw bits of commercials and that song of Lou's, Ugly Truth?
That song was a hilarious whiplash of overly high expectations, blatant insults/mockery, showmanship and narcissist traits done in a blend with a good dallop of civil politeness and carefree/careless congeniality on top. And just a sprinkle of flirtatiousness, for good measure I'm sure.
I just find him lowkey interesting.
