Well. hrm. the way they all connect to each other. like it’s all starting to look like a circle of some sort. jess as rory’s mirror/reflection/narrative foil but also jess as he pertains to luke and jess as he pertains to lorelai. luke breaking the church bells luke who says he was troubled but they gave him a chance and just bc a kid has issues doesnt mean they don’t deserve that. luke who is a figure placed against the rest of the town, just in the sense that he is not like them, he does not hold their values, he doesn’t even sound like them. which is of course a result of scott patterson’s new york accent, but adds to this theme anyway. and they use jess to build this picture, because they walk the same and talk the same and they’re stubborn—independent to a near self-endangering degree—and emotionally repressed in the same way and luke himself admits that he spent more time working at his dad’s shop than he did at school, which jess also does. but jess and luke are also. very very different when you get past these similar values that are maybe ingrained into them through different circumstances and same genetic makeup. and in their differences you get a lot of jess and lorelai’s similarities. when it comes to their family dynamics and how it’s affected them in particular. it’s made them independent yes, but it’s also made them hypervigilant, almost paranoid in the way they are allergic to accepting help and especially accepting help from the people who hurt them. jess only goes to his mother’s wedding because luke asks him to, lorelai only asks her parents for money because rory needs it for school. and they, and this is where they differ from luke, don’t know how to trust people and so they don’t know how to talk to people. where luke’s particular brand of emotional constipation comes from a general cluelessness as to how to do it—which is why the tapes helped him so much—lorelai and jess’ come from emotional responses to the situations they grew up in. while it was different—lorelai growing up rich, jess growing up poor—the effect it had on them still resulted in something similar. lorelai with her overbearing manipulative mother and (emotionally) absent father, and jess with his neglecting manipulative mother and (in all senses of the word) absent father. the ways that, despite their effort to distance themselves, they still end up with similar mannerisms to the parent they have the most conflict with (lorelai and her controlling nature + that scene where they have the same nighttime routine, jess and his love for books + tendency to run away). and of course, their romanticism. their big confessions and period drama-esque speeches and, yeah, i do think in a way jess was asking rory to marry him in 4x21. come with me. let’s get married. luke and rory both being the most important people in their lives. literati+javajunkie where they are all melding into each other, and luke is rory and lorelai is jess but on the surface level dynamic luke is jess and lorelai is rory and they are all each other. on accident. by sheer nature of making jess as a character for the sole purpose of interfering with luke and lorelai’s relationship (which means he is important narratively to them both) and by making him rory’s love interest/foil (because ASP casted him before she even had the idea for the character) you have now made an accidental blending of them all together. he is like a skeleton key of a character. Okay. okay.

I think it’s silly how in fics Danny’s like “oh thank the ancients” or otherwise using them as a stand in for “oh my god”. He beat half their asses bi weekly and they only made him stronger. He spits on their names like a Canadian who just got attacked by geese 

He is cocky and full of rage. He can and has fist fought several gods, no way is he respecting them.

Maybe clockwork and pandora, but no one else (nope, nvm on clockwork).

Anyway I think he should curse them out or use them in derogatory ways rather than use them as a curse

thinking thoughts™️ again about another fic that’s way too real, and pictured eddie giving steve that understanding smile, saying , “yeah, changing the world gets a little old, doesn’t it, when the cost is your sanity.”

and steve mirrors him with a slight nod, “and when you realise you just wanna live your own life, not change everyone else’s. i feel like people shouldn’t need to take this long to realise that.”

“it’s the system, steve-o.” eddie fishes a cigarette from the pack, offering one to steve, who shakes his head with a polite smile. “people living their lives. what a rebellious thing to ask.”

steve watches him for a second, and it’s like he’s piecing together some kind of picture around him. eddie lets him; somehow he trusts steve not to get it all wrong. “you going to rehab to stick it to the man, hm?”

eddie takes a long drag of his cigarette, his eyes far away as he lets the smoke fall from his lips. “no. ‘m going to rehab because it took me too long to realise that i just wanna live my life. and because i think… because i think i’m actually ready. sounds so dumb, doesn’t it?”

“nah.” and steve sounds like he means it. eddie gets the feeling that he does. steve strikes him as someone who’s too genuine for his own good. maybe that’s his own way to keep changing the world even without that job. “sounds like you actually know what you’re talking about. that’s a good quality, you know? to get better. wanting to get better. for no one but yourself.”

“now you’re the one who sounds like he knows what he’s talking about.”

steve huffs and stuffs his hands into his pocket. “nah, man. i’m just the homeless guy who’s hot for your apartment and wants you out of the house asap so i can start my life. with your cat.”

eddie laughs as he snuffs out the cigarette beneath his boot. the keys dangle in his hand as he holds them out to steve, who looks at him, surprised.

“well, she’s yours, then.”

I’m going to shift away from Round 6 momentarily, because this moment in round 3 is incredibly important, and you really can’t talk about Ivan and Till’s relationship without talking about Black Sorrow.

The second time (again, chronologically) Ivan and Till meet each others gaze is in Round 3, when they’re running away together. Up until this point, Till has been shown only from Ivan’s perspective, only looking past him instead of at him.

But here, they look up at each other. Because even if Till doesn’t realize it, they’re in the same boat. They’re both two scared teenagers who can’t imagine a life without the person they love, their reason for living, their god.

And so they stay.

These last two moments of connection between the two are the exception, not the rule though. This is no Mizi and Sua.

When Ivan teases Till in this scene, he just glances away. Because even if they care about each other, they don’t understand each other fully. Ivan reaches out, but Till only has eyes for Mizi, so the connection is severed.

These two are just never on the same page with each other. Even if Till considers him a friend, he doesn’t truly see how Ivan feels about him. Even if Ivan loves Till, he can’t see that Till values his friendship even if he doesn’t love him romantically.

Even when Ivan is cradling Till in his arms, his eyes are shut. He’s just completely oblivious to Ivan’s feelings.

That is, until Ivan kisses him. And they stare each other dead in the eye, for the last time.

And Ivan just weakly smiles. Because Till finally knows. Even if he hates him forever, he can’t avert his gaze from this. Till finally sees him.

something’s that’s always stuck out to me is how Gojo always sees who people really are.

like both Yuta and Yuji were hated due to Rika and Sukuna. Gojo stuck his neck out and defended his students. better yet he defended kids he had known for like a day because he saw their potential and knew they could be helped, but most importantly, he saw kids. he didn’t see monsters like everyone else did.

and of course i have to mention this

Yuji is not “sukunas vessel” he is Itadori Yuji. plain and simple. i feel like Gojo understands better than anyone what if feels like to be referred to by a title (the strongest) more than your name

not to mention he (and Geto ofc) were willing to run away/fight Tengen/deal with whatever consequences if Riko decided she wanted to keep living. Gojo has always seen people, not the title that’s forced upon them.

this is is something that always makes me sad. he’s always been able to see past people. he takes time to learn who they really are, something i feel he’s never gotten the benefit of. i mean he’s “the strongest” who cares who Gojo Satoru is?

Hardshine, to me, are soulmates no matter what way you look at it. i dont even necessarily mean romantic, like the fact is whether they kiss about it or not (which i dont even think has to be inherently romantic) they are so much for each other. moonshine is so intrinsically tied into hardwons identity and moonshine will live thousands of years and will meet so many people, but no matter who those people are, hardwon will always be special. its not even just about the big things of “i worship the ground she walks on” or “i cant imagine bahumia without hardwon surefoot” but everything else in between. its also about both of them crushing on luna and competing for her attention while also pushing each other forward. its also about moonshine burning so many spells so hardwon is good at sex the first time and hardwon talking her up to jaina. its about so much at the same time, two people who met by chance and even took a teen with them on the way being such a dramatic force in each others like. i dont quite know what im saying here, except i do know what im saying and thats RELEASE THE FUCKING LETTER JAKE

I’m pretty lukewarm on the Huddy situation (I’ll die for Hilson)

But it did break my heart a little when House “married” Dominika and Cuddy walked out of the room right as Chase started to say “Do you, Gregory House…”

Because like, it just said so much. Her being unable to watch or listen to House pledge himself to another woman (however fake) said so much.

Now we know she thought about it. She has clearly thought about marrying House. Maybe even thought the only way she’d ever hear “Do you, Gregory House” was standing across from him at the alter.

Kloktober 2022 - Day 17

Crossover with a Horror Film

Decided to do one of my guilty pleasure faves and do a Zombieland crossover! Sorta. Kinda just taking them and putting them in that universe rather than a straight crossover. But whatever. Also because I’ve just been dying (pun intended) to draw an actual zombie apocalypse AU😭 The film itself has issues and I think it’s very Of The Time, but I think that’s why it fits? Both it and Metalocalypse are VERY MUCH mid-2000s media and I enjoy them in that sorta-dated but still super fun way.

For the unaware: the characters in the movie go by where they’re from rather than by first name to keep from becoming too attached to each other. But like with all found families in media, they get attached anyway LMAO

Do you ship lawlight (platonic/romantic)?

No, I don’t, and while I try to respect people’s choices and opinions, it bothers me that some lawlight shippers behave like they have monopoly on the truth, like lawlight is canon, and not fanon.

I understand that interactions of characters can be interpreted in different ways. But if what Ohba said about L disliking Light is not canon, I don’t know what is.
