Thinking very hard about an AU idea of mine. Reluctant king Sabo AU!
In which Sabo isn’t saved by Dragon, but survives long enough to drift ashore and be saved by the doctors of Goa Kingdom, who do so only to ransom his medical bills from Sabo’s parents. Sabo’s parents take him back, thinking that his amnesia makes him a clean slate, but Sabo, young and stubborn and unsure of his entire identity, knows that everything is wrong and runs again, and again, and again.
Until at some point, he meets the Revolutionaries, and realizes that he can be useful to them, provide them information, make something good of an inescapable situation. From then on, he starts acting the noble that he was born as, in order to be a more useful informant to the Revolutionaries, until sunk cost fallacy hits and he believes that being a noble is the only way that he can be useful to the Revolutionaries. So at that point, why not take it all the way?
At 17, Sabo becomes one of Princess Sarie’s suitors, and at 17, he has doubts about using the princess for his own goals. Sarie is a romantic, and she wants a dramatic fairy tale of a romance, and she was already charmed, but the moment Sabo opens up to her about not wanting to use her to get to the throne, having lofty ambitions of helping the people (just not the people she thinks he’s talking about), Sabo becomes the one she simply must marry, because surely if she tries hard enough, she can make him love her back.
Soon after, the king and his son die. Sarie’s father and brother die. And while Sabo conveniently ascends to the throne, he also swiftly implicates his father, Outlook, in the assassination of all heirs to the throne, resulting in Outlook’s arrest and subsequent execution. And thus, at 18, Sabo becomes king, and begins to gradually institute great changes to Goa Kingdom.
Design-wise, Sabo wears an eyepatch because his damaged eye is considered a grotesque sight by nobles’ standards. Under the eyepatch, he wears heavy makeup to hide the burn scar. These are both at the behest of his birth parents, who spin a story about Sabo having been born half blind to hide the fact that Sabo had been shot by a Celestial Dragon and save face. To those who have seen his scar, they fabricate a second secret story that he was unfortunately kidnapped as a child. Sabo never does find out, until he regains his memories, where the burn scar is actually from.

I want garp to see him at the reverie and punch him.#but I don’t know if I want that to happen earlier or later

I'll never understand the whole "Alicent manipulated her kids into hating Rhaenyra" and that "if she didn't they would have a good sibling relationship" like are we watching the same show at this point?
Rhaenyra has literally never tried to bond with her siblings and she literally wanted her 10 year old brother to be "questioned sharply"... she literally wanted him to be tortured!!

just wanted to come on here to sing you praises with just how well you write touch/physical affection especially in the most recent chapter’s first half: draco & hermione being v touchy while entering hogsmeade vs. draco’s jealousy with ron + hermione, and how you depicted draco’s reaction to both (i.e., his awareness on just how not-platonic his actions were vs failing to see that ron and hermione might not be also sharing the same thing) and the way his jealousy flares up. it’s starkly real and engaging and you just leave us wanting more.
just wondering: would there be more platon-ish (or more) moments in the realm of Lionheart, since the books were PG?

I think of Lionheart right now as a story that rides the line between PG-13 and R (for gore, and I guess also technically for swearing, since there's been more than one "fuck.") Those things will only scale up as the story goes on, to an extent that will soon surpass the books. If the original series can be split up into "children's / young adult" around the lynchpin of Book 4, I think of the volumes of Lionheart as "children's / young adult / new adult." New adult is, naturally, more capacious as a genre than young adult is, and I'm cautiously feeling out my comfort level in the new territory it opens up.
To be completely honest, I'm still making up my mind on how far to push past canon there. I know that explicit scenes are common and welcomed in the D/H fanfic space, to an extent even expected, but the jury is out on how much it will be relevant/necessary/something that I'll enjoy writing. (I'm aware that this is a totally confusing and not helpful answer. Friend, I also wish it was not like this.) Basically, I'm just trying to figure out what the story needs.
I guess the most I can say currently is that I'd definitely be comfortable writing it — I've written it before — and for the rest, I'll play it by ear.

#the dragon prince#tdp#aaravos#gif#aquanutart#hi i would like to thank everyone who said on my last pic 'i am reblogging this for the puffballs'#as well as 'your tags have murdered me' etc#truly made the whole experience worthwhile. i still can't tell if anyone got the joke but i no longer care#next in our series of 'it's 2022 why don't you make a brush' i should really make a star brush#instead of sitting there going dot dot dot dot dot dot dot dot dot dot dot ...#even traditional art has a shortcut method for this (it's called putting masking tape on everything and then: splatter)#(advisable to do this first before drawing anything else...)#the good thing is it doesn't actually take a long time to do the dot dot dots it's just kind of repetitive#and you get bored and start writing about it in your tags and then it takes longer because you're not working#i listened to the ff8 soundtrack while making this#i had actually planned to listen to the triple triad music the entire time but#it turned out i couldn't take it for several hours#even though i quickly realized my mistake i ended up having triple triad stuck in my head the whole time anyway. i did this to myself#anyway i was determined to finish this before season 4 dropped#because i also had the idea three years ago and i need to post it before the new season possibly makes it obsolete#threw a wrench into my own schedule by deciding at the last minute that i needed to animate it and i don't know how to animate#then tdp kind of also threw a wrench by releasing the first episode a week early but it's okay i'm still basically in time#i'd personally like it if aaravos were someone who warps and twists the truth and/or has a warped perspective rather than outright lying#i'm convinced there's a meaning to the upside-down star arcana and maybe rotating the key of aaravos can unlock something ??#saying this suddenly gave me flashbacks to the rotation keys in skyward sword rofl what if he's being held in prison#by his own startouch marking being upside-down because it's out of alignment with the universe or something#TWO MORE DAYS let's GO i've been waiting three years to have my theories blown apart

How do you draw dragons? All of them look absolutely amazing and I'm horribly curious.

im not sure how to answer this, because i dont really know! i've been drawing dragons for so long that the process is almost Entirely subconscious at this point.
hm... i know that when i was pinning down the Technical aspect of their anatomy, i mostly modeled them off of cats & horses. i still do, in a sense! but really, i draw them like i draw anything else. i break them into simplistic puzzle pieces and just... slap em together
like the dragon Wallies i just posted kinda show my full process - i didn't erase any guidelines! You Can See It All! circle for the head, circle for the chest, bumps for where the limbs go. the neck triangles into the chest. etc. uh. yeah!
#also Thank You!#but yeah ofc the process varies - it depends on what dragon im drawing#longer snouts will have an extra circle for where the end is!#i use a lot of foreshortening for horns and tails#i just... break everything down. basic shapes and guidelines yk#ovals and beans and circles and tubes#put it all together in whatever way looks right#rambles from the bog#man... how long Have i been drawing em...#technically 2nd grade but i didnt 'seriously' start until uh... 5th grade i think?#that makes it... hold on lemme count#around 11 years now???? Loosely!#i still have so much room to improve <3

wanting to work as a professional 3d modeler after i graduate so i just use tdp (and the sets) as my practice with different programs and textures and stuff, it's fun
if i have the chance i'd like to share something i do over here
#i try to recreate sets and stuff when i don't have school (and when i do have it) as practice and to step out of my comfort zone a bit#it's fun!! i love creating sets and 3d models#i want to try and do the banther lodge after school calms down a bit#i also try and like make up these designs for possible temples or primal source temples yk.. put those 5 semesters of architecture to work#not to be crazy but tdp was one of the things that solidified my aspiration for being a 3d modeler. i already knew i wanted to be that but#watching the process of how they make tdp episodes with the sets and environment design and everything kinda solidified it#thank you my little dragon show ily
