sora's ask just reminded me but I figured I'd finally point out the obvious and say reno is not his real name. he grew up in an orphanage before he joined / got scouted for shinra / the turks, and thus never knew his parents and subsequently never got a name from them. not knowing what to call him, they simple called him reno and it stuck from there

#☾ ━ reno ( headcanons ).#I guess his last name in canon is sinclair but I'm just kinda ignoring that for now #but I'll keep that in my back pocket if I ever wanna make up some parents for him #but yeah idk maybe he worked like as a general employee in shinra for a couple years before getting upgraded to a turk #but I like to think that shinra was like damn this kid is ruthless and expendable lets make him a turk #so idk its one or the other #anyways I do think that reno in general kinda grew up with rufus and the others and I think that's wonderful #that's his family for real even if none of them will admit to it
