But … how the staff swear? We Need to know that too…(of you want of course … love your art and your Amazing humor!!!)
(thank you! :D)
Trein: said 'damn' once when he was sixteen, still lays awake at night in embarrassment about his deplorable lapse in manners.
Vargas: swears like an old-timey carnival strongman. lots of "poppycock" and "what the devil" and an occasional "deuces!" (this makes classes very confusing for poor Deuce)
Crowley: doesn't intentionally swear, but every once in a while he'll, like...put together a presentation on the new staff policies or something that builds up to an acronym which, by complete coincidence, spells out something shockingly depraved.
Tumblr media
it happens often enough that you'd think he's doing it on purpose, except. it's Crowley.
Sam: swears in the text, gets away with it because the character reading is always something else
Tumblr media
(this is very specific to the Japanese version and probably too meta but I made myself laugh with it, I...I'm sorry)

Some OnK Chapter 131 Thoughts
Tumblr media
And by "OnK" thoughts, I predictably mean "Akane and AquaKane" thoughts lol
Once again, Akane is the one correcting surface-level statements and showing insight into Aqua (and even Ruby!).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I've been wondering how Aka would have Akane and Aqua interact after Chapter 116. I'm actually surprised that they were so at ease with each other during this chapter, it's like they overcame a hurdle in Chapter 116.
Tumblr media
Akane knows where Aqua stands, just like Aqua knows where she stands. For Akane in particular, deciding to stop Aqua's plan likely gave her something tangible to hold onto; something practical that she can focus on, a way in which she can make an actual difference. For Aqua, knowing that Akane is planning to stop him told him that she will keep getting involved with him whether he likes it or not.
Of course, since Aqua is always fighting his own nature, he probably likes it in the same measure in which he hates it. Akane burning the bridge with him would be for Akane's own good, and thus what Aqua wants - but there's likely a part of him that is relieved to know that she is still there.
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
He may not be able to rely on her, but the person who saved him little by little simply by acknowledging him, understanding him and choosing him is still there. She hasn't given up on him.
Tumblr media
And it just so happens that Akane is not willing to let Aqua forget that.
Tumblr media
I think Akane may have gone there for two reasons. On one hand, she is probably keeping an eye on his every move; she needs to, if she doesn't want to let Aqua catch her by surprise.
On the other hand, Akane likely knew that Aqua would have mixed feelings after meeting Ai's mother.
Tumblr media
So I think that by going there, Akane was also hoping to emotionally support Aqua. Just like she promised she would back in Chapter 51.
Tumblr media
After all, if Akane wanted to simply watch Aqua, she could've done so without revealing her presence; the same way she managed to follow him all the way there.
But just like Aqua wanted Akane to see him back in Chapter 116, Akane wanted Aqua to know she was there.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The way she throws his stalker tendencies in his face is so funny! Despite the gloomy atmosphere, the two of them instantly fall into a very easy-going back-and-forth and I love that. It's not what I was expecting at all (I love tension), but I'll take it because it's positive that they can joke around about personal traits that anyone else would see as flaws lmao
Plus, good on her for serving Aqua some of his own medicine!
Tumblr media
I already mentioned this, but this exchange right here immediately made me think of Chapter 52.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Funnily enough, that Chapter was titled "Boyfriend x Girlfriend" and featured the moment Aqua and Akane truly started playing their parts. And in this chapter, we have Memcho describing Akane's current role in Aqua's life: His ex-girlfriend.
Tumblr media
Aqua and Akane have gone through so many stages in the manga, I can hardly keep count. Right now they're in their "Exes" era, yet they're still as entwined as ever lol
Tumblr media
And now we get to the part that truly caught my eye. I feel like this interaction can be read in different ways:
There's more to Ayumi Hoshino that meets the eye. Akane knows this but doesn't want Aqua to know, and he can tell but decides to play along.
Akane understands how frustrating it must be to find out that the tragedy that was Ai Hoshino began due to something like this. What's more, she understands how Aqua must feel seeing Ai's mother and knowing that... there's no point in him hating her, because she already hates herself enough for both of them.
Tumblr media
The first would fit the Masterminds™ game that these two are supposed to be playing, and as such it would be pretty fun. But we have seen Akane lie to Aqua in the past and she is... kind of very bad at it lol
Tumblr media
Maybe she's bringing her S Acting Skill Level to the game this time, and I'd applaud her for doing so if she is. But for the time being, I'm leaning towards the second option:
Akane knew that knowing Ayumi's truth would give Aqua mixed feelings and that he may stay stuck on that, and so she came to help take that burden off his shoulders.
Tumblr media
And good thing she did, because as Ichigo put it: Aqua is breaking.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
That said, there's something kind of ominous about the way we're shown Ai's mom looking at them in the last panel. I can't decide whether it symbolizes Ai's mom seeing her grandson (the one she thought she had no right to meet) leaving her and her pain behind, accompanied by someone who is obviously a part of his life - as well as Aqua deciding that indeed, Akane is right: there's no point in hating Ai's mom anymore, because she is already living in a hell of her own making.
Or if maybe Ai's mom is hiding something. I seem to remember one of the sidestories mentioning that she even put glass shards in Ai's food once, which kind of sent a very different image of her compared to the regretful woman we saw this chapter lol
Tumblr media
Alas, for now I'm going with Option 1 though, because I think there's something really beautiful in the symbolism of Akane coming to pick Aqua up, and the two walking away from that painful memory together so that Aqua doesn't have to wallow in it alone.
Tumblr media
Ruby was hoping that Aqua would start to lean on people soon. As it is, he can't lean on anyone - but Akane is still there to guide him home either way, and luckily Aqua let himself accept that much.

While I sat outside with my sister to pass out candy to children I came up with a small little AU. There’s not a lot for an actual story but enough for some headcanons.
            Paranormal Investigator AU
Duncan burned some bridges while in Toronto and can’t seem to find a decent job. Gwen can’t seem to find a job with her art history degree.
One day while channel surfing they get to the Travel Channel and there’s a show about paranormal investigation. Gwen jokes that it would be easy to scam home owners and pretended to feel an ‘evil presence’ in a corner.
That’s where Nocturne Paranormal Investigations began.
They’ve been scamming from Mississauga all the way to Montreal. That is until one day they get a call from a man who calls himself Mr. Madden and he’s from Vancouver.
Gwen doesn’t want to make the trip because going cross country means spending money but the man promises to pay them triple.
She almost hangs up because it ticks off to many boxes on the start of a horror movie. Strang man not from their area calling them to go a long way from home. Check. Not doubling but tripling it when she turns it down. Check.
That is until he’s pleading on the phone and that he only called because his niece spoke highly of them.
Gwen decides to play along because now that she thinks about business has been slow and she has time to kill.
After a few minutes Mr. Madden wears her down and now that she thinks about it she they could use a change of pace, but also they can’t be picky when it comes to business. Even if it screams Dumb Horror Movie Decision™.
Gwen takes the case without consulting Duncan which made him think that his life was a living hell while they drove to Vancouver. Which made her life a living hell for 22 hours.
DJ their new hire, and old friend, was a good buffer, but there was only so much he could do from Duncan being an ass. Which made Gwen act like an ass. Which just makes DJ wish that maybe he took his uncles offer as working at a temp agency.
The moment Duncan drives his car up the long driveway, with tree’s and  random pieces of stoned carvings he makes a comment about if they die he’ll kill Gwen.
The mansion is huge and Duncan now thinks that Gwen should have squeezed a couple extra thousand.
Gwen finds it annoying that Duncan has not only been bitching for the whole time, but now he’s bitching at her for not negotiating better.
Gwen was going to kill him if the owner of the house didn’t.
Duncan sees another car in the large driveway and is back to being grump, but also on edge to the point that Gwen thinks he finally lost it.
He starts to light up while they wait for Mr. Madden to answer the door. Gwen can basically feel the stress off him. She wonders if he’s really scared of this big mansion. It is screaming murder mystery house
Mr. Madden finally answers the door. He has familiar features with blond hair and green eyes. Gwen feels her stomach drop because if his niece is the person she’s thinking about that means Duncan’s ex-girlfriend isn’t far behind.
Gwen hopes that maybe they aren’t there. That it would just be her team and Mr. Madden during their investigation.
She’s proven wrong when he takes them to the drawing room because it’s the place that had the least activity from spirits.
There are four other people in there. Two she knew were going to be there, the other’s didn’t even come to her minds radar when she sees them in there.
Two she knew Bridgette and Courtney. Courtney is Duncan’s ex, and Gwen could basically feel Duncan stiffen. Like he’s some cat that just came into contact with a very large dog that’s a threat.
The other two is Geoff, Duncan’s childhood friend who moved during 7th grade. The other is Trent, the guy Gwen’s been seeing for the past couple of months.
Geoff is Bridgette’s boyfriend and Trent is now Bridgette’s cousin through marriage. (Trent’s dad married Bridgette’s aunt).
DJ is confused as to why Duncan is glaring at Courtney, and Courtney in turn is glaring right back at him.
DJ decides to lead the conversation because now Gwen and Duncan are distracted.
He can’t get to it because Trent asks Gwen what she was doing there, she says it’s for work. She asks what Trent’s doing there and he tells her that he’s family.
DJ tries it again but is once again interrupted when Courtney scoffs and rolls her eyes which just sets off Duncan because why not? They weren’t there for a job or anything!
After, like, 30 seconds of them yelling at each other Bridgette intervenes and says that their bad vibes is feeding the spirit.
Courtney reveals that she’s there to prove that their a scam, not because she knows but because she thinks all paranormal investigators are scammers.
Duncan, who always thoughts ghost were fake and people who actually hired them were idiots is now putting 110% effort into the job.
DJ is able to redirect the conversation back to Mr. Madden and his ghosts.
It’s been happening for years now, but it wasn’t until recently that it seems to have been amped up.
Gwen talks about energies.
Courtney scoffs again.
Duncan says they should kill Courtney and offer her up to appease the spirit.
Mr. Madden eventually has to leave because he got a call to go into town because of business or whatever.
So now it’s a full night of investigation with Courtney constantly interfering by being right about them being fakes.
Luckily no one is taking her seriously but it’s started to make Gwen nervous that Duncan might go too far and eventually the truth of the scam will come out.
Obviously the more the night goes on the more romance happens between Courtney and Duncan.
Oh no they get locked in a room. Duncan makes a comment about how she’s so desperate to get back together with him that she locked them in.
She says that Duncan is the one that’s not over her, so that’s why he suggested to investigate that room.
Ghost makes a sound
Courtney mocks Duncan “Oh so scary! Come on Duncan, I know you can do better than that.”
Duncan takes the compliment but tells her that it wasn’t him.
The entire night is filled with ghost activity as it soon becomes apparent that the ghost is very much real and Nocturne Paranormal Investigation has to come to terms that they are now in over their head because this spirit is starting to become down right violent.
Duncan and Courtney makeout at one point during the night. They would go further but the ghost is a cock block.

ESCAPE ROOM is Lovemonth's second single album and was released on June 30th, 2022. The title track was "ESCAPE ROOM" with "왔다갔다 (Come 'n' Go)" as a promoted B-side. This is Lovemonth’s first comeback where the group is not promoting with their full lineup as Rudy is on hiatus.
~TRACKS~
ESCAPE ROOM
왔다갔다 (Come ‘n’ Go)
Not Friends (Lovemonth Ver.)
Hair:
Yumin continued to rock her usual straight, platinum blonde hair, but chose to get it cut short and get bangs. Her haircut along with the stage outfits for this comeback, a lot of comparisons were made to Rosamund Pike and the “i’m bored lemme ruin some random guy’s life real quick” vibe she often gives in her movies.
Yeojeong stuck to her long, brown look…but she got bangs this time! Fans asked if she would ever go with a new, bold look for a comeback on Vlive and she was like “I mean…if a role allowed me to? idk” which launched a bunch of “secure the bag” memes.
Byeol decided to come back with a bolder look: long, center-parted, jet black hair that was dyed ombre to grey. Her biggest decision though? No bangs. ælifes were shook; Byeol had had bangs ever since her trainee days to the point where there were countless jokes and tons of theories in the fandom as to what was actually under them. Some ælifes missed the bangs, but most not only saw the lack of bangs as a chicer, more mature look for her, but it had a lot of ælifes questioning their sexuality…
Hotaru surprisingly gave her scalp a break and went with a more natural chestnut brown bob. ælifes were similarly gagged by her transformation, but there was a lot more pushback as many fans really missed her Manic Pixie Dream Girl™ looks. Hotaru apologized for her lack of colorful hair and promised fans that ✨Magical Girl Hotaru✨ would be back soon.
Chowon had long, curly, jet black hair with a comma bang. ælifes were a little confused since she seemed to steal Rudy’s previous hairstyle…?
For those keeping track, that makes 4/5 girls with bangs. Literally all the active members got bangs except for the one that’s known for them.
Stage Outfits:
ESCAPE ROOM
Tumblr media
As the promotions for ESCAPE ROOM would be shorter, the designer decided to go with a simple, but effective silhouette that would be memorable to audiences. What encapsulates that more than a suit? The girls wore both classic suits and newer, oversized suits with cropped tops underneath in neutral and pseudo-neutral colors like black, white, navy, burgundy, and slate grey. The girls usually wore sneakers with the oversized suits and heeled boots with the more classic suits.
왔다갔다 (Come 'n' Go)
Tumblr media
The costuming for their B-side was a bit of a hot topic. Not for the stage version; those outfits were relatively tame. Simple white lace tops with white pants, black shoes, and an oversized black jacket for the male backup dancers to drape over them at the end of the routine. The controversy came with the dance practice video costumes: Lovemonth wasn't really known for a sexy side, but they definitely showed it in the dance practice with their collared shirts and intimate dancing with the male backup dancers.
~THE CHARTS~
"ESCAPE ROOM" peak positions:
Genie: #72 MelOn: N/A FLO: #78 VIBE: #83 Bugs!: #91
Music Show Wins: 0
~ERA HIGHLIGHTS~
Whew chile this gon’ be a doozy........Lovemonth in their flop era! 😃
The whole #WhereIsRudy debacle really took whatever anticipation there was for Lovemonth’s comeback and completely deflated it.
The music video, which was more of a performance video with better camerawork, took a whole week to hit 1 million views.
Usually there were campaigns to get the Lovemonth music videos views, but the ælife community was in shambles. Half the community was on strike due to the mistreatment of Rudy that resulted in her seemingly leaving the group.
There were still ælifes that tried to remind everyone that regardless of Rudy’s status and treatment, there were still five other girls in the group working hard to deliver a comeback, but it sort of fell on deaf ears.
The charts weren’t any kinder: ESCAPE ROOM was their lowest-charting release, ranking lower than their debut. The Rudy scandal really took all of their momentum.
The worst part was that you could see it on the members’ faces. Any time they were on a variety show, when they were backstage at music shows, even on their social media. You could see how much this was affecting them.
Despite all the doom and gloom, the silver lining came towards the end of their comeback era: My Girlfriend’s a K-Pop Idol!
The web series had casted Byeol and Hotaru as a duo and gave them two of the most slayful songs to ever exist.
Both tracks were for the gays and the gays went UP accordingly.
The web series became very popular and First Memory (the duo from the series’ name) actually trended on NAVER. It boosted the popularity of Byeol and Hotaru, and of course Lovemonth by extension. Not enough to hint at a possible chart reversal, but enough to keep the threat of disbandment at bay.
Byeol and Hotaru started appearing on radio shows and variety shows as if they were an actual duo, which perturbed a few ælifes, but most saw it as a blessing in this dark time for the group.
The popularity of the duo gave the company some ideas…but anyway, at least the ESCAPE ROOM era ended on a high note!
~SCANDALS & CONTROVERSIES~
#WhereIsRudy pt. 1: During the months of Lovemonth’s hiatus, all but one of the members seemed to be keeping busy. Yeojeong was doing well as a model/actress, Chowon had been hosting After School Club consistently since their last comeback, and the other members had other activities that they were working on. Except Rudy. Her absence was constantly being brought up by ælifes to which members usually answered that she was resting. Then suddenly they stopped addressing it altogether. Anytime someone would ask they just…wouldn’t answer. Rumors started going around that she had left the group since she was the only one who was not active at all. The most suspicious moment came during one of Byeol’s Twitch streams: someone asked her about Rudy’s absence and she replied, “Ah…Rudy-unnie has returned to Thailand…she thought about her family quite often during our MOON promotions and wanted to see them.” Her reply was strange as she was very hesitant; as if she 1) realized she probably shouldn’t have been relaying this information to hundreds of people, or 2) she wasn’t telling the truth. Even stranger, she abruptly ended the stream, citing an “emergency”, and the stream (at that point, around 2 hours and 37 minutes in length) would not be available for replay. All of this happened before ESCAPE ROOM was even announced.
#WhereIsRudy pt. 2:  An anonymous Reddit user found the social media pages of Rudy’s friends and family and discovered she was none of their recent updates. As a result, Byeol got a bit of hate for allegedly being complicit in Rudy’s disappearance. All of the suspicion came to a head when all of Rudy’s social media went dark; ælifes panicked and started demanding YURI&Co. for answers. The #RudyDeservesBetter hashtag that was swirling around ælife Twitter during the tail-end of their last promotions morphed into the much more prevalent PR nightmare #WhereIsRudy hashtag. It was not just a hot topic across K-pop Twitter itself, trending in several different countries and becoming cannon fodder for every K-pop tea and news channel on YouTube. After being flamed across social media for several days, YURI&Co. finally had to release a statement. They apologized for the lack of communication on their part, explained that Rudy had been showing symptoms of depression and anxiety, and that she was spending her time resting in addition to seeing a licensed professional. Many ælifes were satisfied with this information and sent well wishes to Rudy, but some felt there was something the company wasn’t telling them…
Everybody loves…Yumin?!: On a lighter note, the members appeared on Jackie & Jill, a popular YouTube channel that is known for chaotic, unfiltered interviews with rookie groups and soloists. Jill, one of the hosts, is known for being an out lesbian and playfully flirting with female idols. Well, Yumin’s generally masculine-leaning clothing choices and all-around charismatic energy have garnered a lot of female fans over the years, but combined with her new I Care a Lot hair? The girls who love girls were frothing at the mouth, including Jill…and it was a glory to behold. From Jill whispering “I know what you are” to a completely taken-aback Yumin when she casually stated she's never had a boyfriend, to their impromptu “teen drama confession” scene where Yumin dips and almost kisses Jill, it was all very fruity. Yumin’s tags across social media were in shambles for weeks. Hell, they’re probably still a wreck.
~ACTIVITIES~
Probably the biggest and most memorable activity (outside of Yeojeong’s neverending list of acting credits) was Byeol and Hotaru landing supporting roles in the web series My Girlfriend’s a K-Pop Idol!, a show about a Canadian ESL teacher’s assistant who falls in love with his seemingly ordinary supervising teacher only to find out she is secretly a K-pop idol. Byeol and Hotaru played conniving Chung Dayeon and dim-witted Kondō Miori respectively, two fame-hungry idols that would do anything to get to the top. The show featured two performances from them as the up-and-coming duo, First Memory: “Better 나 (Better Me)” and “NAUGHTY”.
Byeol and Hotaru: a medley dance cover: “Be Natural” by Red Velvet and “NAUGHTY” by First Memory…a.k.a. them.
Yumin, Yeojeong, and Chowon of Lovemonth teamed up with Hady and Serim of 7LITE and Yunny for a special stage cover of “Hush” by Miss A.
And because a Lovemonth era wouldn’t be complete without a cover of a Girls Generation song, the girls did a special stage cover of “Lion Heart” by Girls Generation for MCountdown’s special Sunny Summer episode. Yumin, in a shocking turn of events, did not look viscerally uncomfortable the entire time.

can i get a uhhhhhh "façades are beautiful–but what happens when they crack?" my god i am so curious
and maybe a "how to intimidate a showmaker 101" if it isn't too bothersome, i would like to know how to intimidate a showmaker too
those titles are certified bangers
btw, big fan of your (and livikattt's, but apparently you're the same entity™) works!!!
façades are beautiful–but what happens when they crack?
heh. for this one, we're going to have to go a while back—to before the first ppau fic was even published. i'm honestly curious how many ppau readers even saw ssash—and looking back on it now, it's certainly not my best work (and wow past tense looks weird) but i do still like some of the lines i got in there. anyway, at the end of ssash, i promised that some mikyx angst would be coming soon. then, by hcihelyd, it had been indefinitely shelved. what happened to it?
well, the most obvious answer is loss of motivation. that's the reason for almost all of my wips staying wips, after all. and it's certainly applicable here, but the more important thing that happened is, well…ppau happened.
i've mentioned before how "pure canon" in rpf can get messy very quickly if you're not careful, and this definitely got messy. i'm not going to go into the specifics of why, but let's just say there was a lot of projection going on, whether intentional or not. it wasn't an au, not really, and i'm not really comfortable writing that, especially not with where it was heading. i didn't really have a plot, either. the only thing resembling a plot was just…well. watching xl get reverse swept to get knocked from worlds contention was incredibly depressing, not to mention the loser's interview miky gave after. but eventually i found a different team to write angst about after their loss, and i'm much more proud of that fic :)
so this is never going to get finished, let alone published, but you can have a bit that didn't age too poorly~
“Hey, at least we’re not Vitality,”  he joked halfheartedly, resulting in a small and hollow laugh from his teammates. The tension was palpable, the heat of the summer air only a small factor of the thickness that permeated the room. No one wanted to be the first to speak up about their complete and utter failure.
how to intimidate a showmaker 101
in a complete tone shift, this one is complete crack. that is, until it switches povs, but i was too lazy to write more than a few paragraphs of that part seeing as i knew i was never going to be able to publish the full thing (thank you for that, lolrpf! i love having to censor everything i write just so it won't be interpreted as shipping), and i also didn't really have a set ending. i had written pretty much everything i planned out~
i do still love it, though. maybe i could change the sensitive part at some point so i can post it here or something. who knows. we'll see.
anyway, as for the actual plot…well. if you read wtua (and if you didn't what are you doing, it's right here), then you might have noticed showmaker mentioning viper putting a knife to his throat the last time scout made him ask viper for help. it's also brought up in dfwydk how showmaker teleported straight to his location and, again, got a blade to his throat. there are also a couple more references in unpublished (for now) things. these are all referring to this…incident.
before showmaker drags scout to jiejie in order to save his life, scout mentions the person who is still talking to him. viper. unfortunately, before he can contact viper himself, he has a sliiight sleep paralysis episode. enter showmaker, who is Definitely Not Concerned At All For Scout's Wellbeing, and who is also being ghosted by scout. as we see in wtua, showmaker's teleportation is…very handy.
here's the most important bit. or, well, the part that i had the most fun writing~
“I asked you a question,” Viper says, stalking towards Showmaker, and gods, speaking of that poison, Showmaker can’t help but recoil at the pain that blossoms in his mind with every word that Viper speaks. He’s all too aware of the gun still trained on his head, but his words are stuck in his throat as he tries to answer Viper.
Viper suddenly moves too quickly for Showmaker to react, and now, as well as a gun digging into his back, there’s a blade at his throat. “I won’t ask it again, Heosu.” The shadows all around the room press in, and though Showmaker knows they’re intangible, he can’t help but feel horribly claustrophobic.
Finally, Showmaker manages to conjure up his magic, frantically throwing out an explanation as quickly as he can. “It’s about Scout!”
Viper’s blade only digs deeper, and Showmaker can feel blood welling up. “What did you do to him?” Viper snarls. It takes all of Showmaker’s willpower not to thrash against the pain from the poison of Viper’s voice and slice his own throat open in the process.
“Nothing, I swear! He needs your help! He said you’d understand,” Showmaker pleads.
“Since when do you care about helping Scout?” Viper spits out. “Last I heard you two weren’t the best of friends.”
it's incredibly self-indulgent, as you can tell, but protective viper is just too much fun. i regret nothing.
we are not the same! but we are two halves of a whole :)
twin shadows, if you will~
but thank you! glad you enjoy them as much as we do, and hope you enjoyed this little sneak peek~

Original Work
Prompt 21 - "What did I say?"
tags : failed (or did it? ;) ) wingmanning, dumb flirtations, and some very confused best friends
@fictober-event
Also available on ao3!
"Remember man, let me do all the talking," A man placed his hand on his chest before he gave a look™ to his best friend.
Said best friend shrugged. "Okay, whatever you say."
"Dude, what did I just say?" he rose a questioning eyebrow and his mouth moved into an amused smile.
"Sorry, sorry." He held his hands up in a "My bad" pose.
They made their way towards the other side of the house and the girls dressed in matching sparkly dresses but before his best friend could get his flirt on (as he liked to call it) and he could do his wingman thing, they were interrupted by an amused voice.
"Let me guess, you two are here to ask me and my friend to dance?" one of the girls, a blonde, asked as she pointed between herself and the tall red-headed girl next to her, who looked like she was this close to strangling her.
Wanting to keep his promise to his best friend but not wanting to leave the (extremely pretty) girl without an answer, he raised his hand, smiling at her.
"Yes?" She pointed at him and smiled back, her friend glaring at her for starting this conversation. (She was probably supposed to say quiet and be her wing woman.)
"Actually, I'm here for moral support," he too ignored the glare that he received.
"Love the honesty. But that's too bad cause I would have said yes," she shrugged nonchalantly as her face lit up with a smirk.
Blinking at her and trying his best to hold back a blush, he held out a hand to her. "M'lady, may I have this dance?"
Placing her hand in his, she stifled a giggle before going along with his joke. "Yes, you may, m'lord."
...
As the two danced together (and pretty suggestively at that), the other two sat stunned, watching in confused awe.
Turning to the tall redhead, the guy asked, "What just happened?"
The redhead, still watching her best friend that hated parties and dancing, dance with the surprisingly smooth best friend of the guy she had a crush on, only shook her head and responded with an "I have no idea."

okay so this is my idea! This got pretty long so I'm sorry— you can ignore this if you like 👌
This story idea is basically based on some of the songs from the Disney Descendants movies (I promise the songs are pretty good okay-) and I've had this idea for so long. But this is the first time I'm actually saying it/writing it down so bare with me if things don't make sense/aren't described well—
S O it's set almost immediately after SVS Redux. Roman is #notokay™ and he thinks everyone hates him and doesn't want him around so he plans to run off into the imagination because it's the only place he feels like he belongs.
He goes into the imagination when Remus catches him and they have like a solid minute of just staring awkwardly because they haven't talked in so long and 'oh god Roman looks upset and I must be the last person he wants to see right now'
So Remus tries to joke about it but Roman just breaks down and Remus tries to comfort him. It ends with Roman explaining to Remus why he's running away and he's gonna find the furthest corner of the imagination so he can't disappoint anyone anymore. And Remus is..obviously distressed by this but he doesn't think it could be that because hey at least Roman isn't ducking out? this is when Space Between happens. (the reason: I like the song and the lyrics suit creativitwins so well- one of the lyrics is literally 'cause you're a part of me' so—)
A few days go by. Roman hasn't left the imagination, and because of how far he is there, his functions for Thomas haven't been working well (he's not as passionate anymore and finds it very difficult to concentrate on things). This makes the other sides concerned - and they also are all worried about Roman in general, so they confront Remus. Remus explains everything reluctantly and the others are obviously freaking out at this point and feeling incredibly guilty so they all plan to go into the imagination to get Roman back and apologise.
Once they make it there, Roman can sense their presence and he doesn't really want to see them right now (there was a reason he ran away), and the imagination is controlled by Romans feelings so everything in the space is trying to drive the others out. Things keep appearing to fight them and all the animals are trying to get them to scare them Away and just get them to leave.
Virgil is not happy ™ about Janus coming with them so the whole time he sticks close to Patton and Logan while Janus stays with Remus.
They pass by maybe an abandoned town and this is how they get swords just in case of emergencies (Logan and Virgil were the ones most insistent of getting something for defence - remus didn't care because he already had his Morningstar).
This comes in handy because the next area they go to has a whole army of like,, faceless knights that are trying to attack them - because they're getting closer to Romans castle. This is when 'Night Falls' occurs — they all have to fight off the knights and Virgil and Janus have to learn to work together again. It ends with them all working together to defeat the knights.
Then they go through the woods - a very dark and kinds scary place - but they can just make out Romans castle in the distance so they know they're going the right way. Then some stuff goes down and somehow they all end up getting separated.
I don't know whether it would be magic or just the power of the imagination, but I'm thinking they all go through a different 'trials' based on how theyve hurt/affected Roman. For example, Logan feels the pressure of perfection that he's placed on Roman, Virgil gets attacked by like,, physical representations of all the insults he's given Roman, and so on. And they each have to fight out of it on their own until they make it to the entrance of Romans castle.
Janus' is kinda different however, his 'trial' is based off lies and manipulations (think that Mysterio scene from Spiderman Far From Home) and he realises how much he's messed up with everything and that maybe he wasn't as fair on Roman. Cue 'My Once Upon a Time' (the reason? A lot of the lyrics: 'but a stack of lies is not a firm foundation. You cannot build a castle on a mountain made of sand' and there is more but I highly recommend listening to the song and just Imagining Janus—)
This is when he realises that to get Roman back they both need to work things out and apologise to each other and all that. Because he also realises that he hasn't done his job that great. he's self-preservation but they've all hurt Roman so much- Thomas' ego. So Janus finds his way to the castle and meets with the others. And they go in.
And Roman is extra so of course the tower he's in is guarded by a dragon that they have to defeat.
While the others are fighting, maybe Virgil tells Janus to leave and find Roman. And he does. Then they have a really emotional and dramatic moment between Janus and Roman as Janus is trying to tell him the truth and Roman keeps thinking he's lying.
But they eventually come to a conclusion and hug it out and apologise and then the others arrive and they all apologise to each other and :''''))))
After that is when 'Break This Down' happens !! (with Ro and Jan being the main singers-) Because they've all kinda accepted each other and they can work together to help Thomas (because we love happy endings—)

marichat may—day 9: cone of shame
AO3 link here | marichat may masterlist
previous day | next day
summary:
chat noir promised to visit her again.
the thing is, he got a liiiittle busy, and it kinda... slipped his mind?
totally unrelated, but marinette makes a little something for him. (人 •͈ᴗ•͈)
prompts: @marichatmay
———
a.n.
welcome back to your regularly scheduled fluff 😁
...jk :)
also please answer this chat noir vs. cat noir poll we must prove the cat noir stans wrong
———
Marinette stared up at the ceiling, bored out of her mind.
(More accurate adjectives would be “lonely” and “heartsick”, but she would die before she admitted that.)
It had been approximately two weeks since Chat had last visited. Since Chat had promised to come again.
She had been half-asleep when he had said it, but she just knew he had promised to return.
And yet, when she stayed up all those nights, straining for the sound of boots landing on her balcony, there was not a thing to be heard.
In short, she hadn't seen hide nor hair of him at all. Even as Ladybug.
Which, she thought, scoffing, was quite frankly a miracle. Because for once, Hawkmoth had been considerate—well, as considerate as a supervillain could be—enough not to create any akumas in the past fourteen or so days.
Oh, don't get her wrong. She was immensely relieved that she hadn't had to mis any classes, group outings, and such. But she missed her kitty. Quite a lot. Even though she as Ladybug always told him the opposite.
Marinette scowled at the ceiling. "Why is it that whenever I want him to be there, he isn't? But when he isn't welcome, he's there! Ugh!" She slammed her fist onto the mattress for emphasis. "Stupid Chat Noir!"
Tikki floated up to her level, cookie in hand. "Oh, come on, Marinette," she giggled. "He isn't that bad!"
"Ha. As if," she said grumpily, flopping sideways and cuddling her pillow. "He's such a dork."
Marinette sighed, her gaze glossing over her room from her vantage point above. "I wish he’d come visit," she said, feeling melacholy all over again, "Why hasn’t that pesky cat come visit yet?"
“Maybe he has a busy schedule?“ Tikki suggested, tilting her head at her wielder.
She snorted. “He wouldn’t know what a schedule was, even if it punched him in the face.“
“If you say so...“
Marinette sighed. What reason could Chat have for neglecting his promise like that?
Tikki suddenly plopped down on the mattress near Marinette's face, the girl crossing her eyes as she tried to focus on her. "Why don’t you get back at Chat Noir, the next time he visits?" Tikki said, her tone light and joking. "You could use one of those white cones on him!"
Marinette jolted upright, staring at her kwami with new eyes. She could almost see Chat's reaction to such a thing.
Ohoho. That cat won't know what's coming for him.
When she finally spoke again, her tone was reverent.
"Tikki, that is evil." She rubbed her hands gleefully. "Ooh, I think I have some cardboard lying around here somewhere... this is going to be perfect!"
Tikki's eyes widened. "Wait, you're actually doing it?"
She cackled as she zipped down the ladder, rushing around to gather her materials. "Of course I am! Thanks for the idea, Tikki!"
"But... I was just kidding..."
The kwami’s weak protests were largely ignored whilst Marinette hastily assembled what she dubbed the Chat Cone.
"And... there!"
Made out of white cardboard and glue, the Chat Cone™ looked like an oversized version of your typical cat cone. Thanks to her time spent with Chat Noir as Ladybug, she had been familiar with the size of his head. So, with that in mind, she had made sure the wide cone would be tall enough to blind him. Why? Because why not, duh. Anyways, Marinette never did things halfway. And that applied here, too.
She surveyed her work proudly and felt a wave of vindictiveness wash over her.
"This is going to be fun."
———
Two days later—two days. Two days! Why did it take him so long to finally drop by?—an unsuspecting Chat Noir finally remembered to visit his “favorite civilian”.
She heard her skylight open, and discreetly reached for the Chat Cone™ that she had been keeping in reach for this very moment.
She heard a familiar, infuriating voice start speaking from behind her.
"Well, hello there, prin— mmf!"
Marinette immediately whipped around and tackled him, fire in her eyes as she struggled to secure the cone around his neck. "TAKE THAT, SUCKER!" she yelled when she finally succeeded, quickly crawling back from his flailing form on the ground.
"What the heck was that for?" Chat yelped, confused, as he tried to pry it off. “Get it off me!”
She stuck out her tongue childishly, standing up. "It's what you get for not keeping your promise!"
She watched as he tried to rise, then fell on his behind. "Ow." His head, out of reflex, jerked forward. The huge white cone around it glanced off his slightly raised knees, and he recoiled on impact. "Double ow."
Marinette smirked vindictively. "Who knew a simple cardboard contraption could easily defeat the oh-so-awesome Chat Noir?"
"Princess— Mari— What did I do?" he asked, struggling to rise. She watched as he felt around blindly for the sofa, then used it to haul himself upright.
"You're annoying, that's what," she said, crossing her arms in a show of irritation. She took a good look at him, then, now that she wasn’t trying to tackle him.
Chat looked hilarious, what with the huge cone around his head. She could barely see his hair from the top of the white device.
He groaned as he slumped on the lounge chair. "Come on, you can’t be serious,” he said, trying—and failing epically—to put his head in his hands. Chat sighed as the pesky contraption. “And why did it have to be the cone, of all things?"
"Why not?" she shot back, reaching for her phone as she tried to hold in a giggle. To quote a certain Chloé Bourgeois, he looked ridiculous. Utterly ridiculous.
Marinette rapidly swiped through her lockscreen, tapping on the camera app.
Click!
Chat froze. As a model, he had become very accustomed to that sound. And right now? Right now, it meant bad news. His eyes widened (not that Marinette could see it, though, seeing as the cone she had made obstructed everything.).
“You didn’t.“
She grinned viciously. “I did.“
“Come on, princess!“ he whined. “What did I do to deserve such punishment?“
And that immediately caused the roaring wave of emotion she had desperately been trying to hold back crash over her.
“What about you, chaton?“ she said, her voice cracking. “What about you?”
She stepped closer, and watched him go still.
“Why didn’t you come back?”
Her voice shook as she tried to keep her emotion under control. As she tried to lock away the sadness, the loneliness, the irrational fear that he would never come back. She took another step. He looked away, the cone moving with him. She forced him to look at her, shaking his shoulders.
“Why didn’t you visit?”
She was on the verge of tears, but she tried as best as she could to keep her voice steady. She removed the ungainly cone, placed it on the couch and leaned closer, watery eyes holding emeralds in a nigh unbreakable gaze.
“Why didn’t you keep your promise?“ she whispered in his ear, finally letting a tear fall.
His eyes widened in realization. “Oh.“
“I was so lonely without you, you know,“ she said softly, moving away from him as she sat on the lounge, near yet so far. “I heard you promise to come back, and you didn’t. For sixteen days.“ She swallowed, and stared at the floor. “I missed you, chaton.“
She waited for a response as she averted her gaze and continued rambling. “I— I’m sorry. I know that the thing with the cone was totally uncalled for, but I was just so sad and frustrated, and I ended up taking it out on you, and I know I’m not entitled to your visits, I’m sorry, I just— “
Marinette suddenly found herself engulfed in his warm embrace. “Princess. Princess, I’m so sorry,“ Chat said, holding her close. “I just got really busy, and my m— job got more hectic. I’m sorry, so sorry.“
She sniffed. Even now, when she was overreacting, he was so kind. She didn’t deserve him, really. “No, it’s not your fault,“ she said. “Sorry, I just— sorry. I’m sorry.“
“Don’t be,“ he said, pulling her closer. “Don’t be.“
They stayed entwined for what felt like forever, Marinette silently weeping as Chat stroked her hair gently.
“Chat?“ she croaked, after her tears had run dry. “Thank you.“
He smiled. “Happy to help, princess.“
After a second, he said, “Does this mean you’ll delete the picture?“
She laughed into his chest. “In your dreams.“

1/2 My thing is there was a huge backlash against the cast/show right before S3 because Melissa & Jeremy sang a song at comic-con about how SC was never going to happen and a lot of people (not just SC fans but other lgbtq fans that weren't even a part of the SG fandom) felt it was disrespectful & never would have happened with a m/f ship. The cast made things worse when they tried to defend what happened & by the end a lot of people said they would no longer watch the show. While I'm sure some
2/2 some did actually quit watching many continued to watch. Yet here they are seasons later insisting the show is baiting them as though that backlash never happened. It's especially ridiculous because if anything the writers have a made even more of a point of making sure SC doesn't read as romantic because of that backlash.
Yeah, I only agreed that it looked baity when I wasn’t even watching and saw gifs of it. But that was my mistake. I shouldn’t have assumed I could judge anything based off gifs.
I do and always will joke that Katie just doesn’t understand how to create platonic energy with women lol. Yes, there were acting choices, specifically on her part that created subtext between Lena and Kara early on. But subtext isn’t queerbait and has been considered a completely legit literary/writing tool. Subtext alone isn’t automatically queerbaiting. These shippers were not baited. They’re hanging on to something in hopes it will happen even though they were never told or promised for a second that it would happen. And it go so bad that the writers took some pretty petty big swings to get that across (Gaurdiancorp).
The writers and the marketing team at no point teased a SC romance and then fail to deliver on it. That’s baiting.
That comic-con shit was blown out of proportion. SC fans were mad but ignore how they treat the cast and get upset when a cast members snaps back at them or acknowledges their behavior. They expect to spew all this venom and be utter nuisances and never annoy or hurt the people they’re talking to or attacking? The cast members are humans and can only take so much. This isn’t a SC Shipper™ specific problem, this is a problem with all large fandoms. I should make it a point to say that more when discussing this particular fandom.

Getting to Know Yourself: Chapter 1/8
Tags: Thomas/Logan, Thomas/Patton, Thomas/Roman, Thomas/Virgil, no jealousy, Edging, Tickle Fights, Bad Puns, dad jokes, lots and lots of cuddles, Blow Jobs, fantasy times, unexpected self-esteem issues, Logan's Plan™, accidental date, Cliffhangers, negative self-talk, cursing Notes: First, thanks to my amazing beta, BFF, and queer platonic life partner, @randomslasher. Without them this wouldn't exist, as I got the initial idea from them! And they were an immense help all the way through. Also thanks to @parsnipit, who is the best cheerleader anyone could ask for! Her flailing gives me life.  Heed the rating, there's definitely explicit sex scenes contained within. But also lots of feels, puns, and Roman being unbelievably extra. This first chapter is loosely set last fall, but assumes that some of what we see in the SanderSides videos had taken place before Thomas decided to turn it into a series. As such, he knows everyone but Anxiety's name at the beginning.
Summary: In which Thomas (the fictional, exaggerated version of himself Thomas plays in the videos, not the real Thomas) gets to know his sides better than he'd ever expected, and finds out they each have something to teach him about sex, intimacy, and relationships.
Chapter 1: Logan
The best thing about being an adult and living alone in his own apartment, Thomas decided, was being able to spend time with himself. Not by himself, with himself. He never could’ve done this back home with his parents, or with a roommate.
Logan--the cause of Thomas’s idle thought--again frowned at his book, grumbling “That doesn’t make sense!” under his breath, before apparently realizing he was being watched. He looked up, meeting Thomas’s eyes. “Did I...is everything alright?”
“Fine,” Thomas assured him, not wanting to embarrass Logan by pointing out he’d been arguing with a book again. “Do you want something to drink?” he offered instead, pushing himself to his feet and heading to the kitchen.
Logan nodded, and Thomas snagged a soda for each of them, before settling back down on the couch with his laptop. But his editing spell had been broken, for the moment, and he went back to watching Logan read.
Not too long ago, this would’ve been impossible. His sides had always stayed hidden inside him and while he’d known they were there, they hadn’t been able to just...hang out. But now not only could all four of them appear to talk things through, they could do the same individually...and Thomas was grateful for it. For them. For all the work they’d done, in the last few years.
And for the fact that Logan was just here, reading, something he could have easily done in his own room alone. That he’d rather be with Thomas was...well. It was pretty awesome, if Thomas was going to be honest with himself, and it made him smile again.
They all hung out with him fairly often, actually. Oh, sometimes it was all five of them, having a movie marathon or Mario Kart tournament, but more and more now he got time alone with each of them, too. Quality time, like this, where they were each doing their own thing...though more of that with Logan and Anxiety than with Patton and Roman, he had to admit. Patton and Roman were more...active people to spend time with.
Thomas turned over again, trying to draw his mind back to what he was doing. He’d promised to have a video up soon, and it wasn’t going to finish itself. He managed for another minute or two, before another of Logan’s quiet outbursts distracted him.
He looked up. Logan was curled in the opposite corner of the couch, a mystery novel in his slim hands, his brow furrowed above his thick glasses. Thomas had always found it fascinating how his sides did and yet didn’t look like him...he could recognize parts of himself in Logan, knew others would think they were related, but they weren’t identical by any means. Logan needed the glasses he wore, while Thomas’s eyesight was fine. He was pale and angular where Thomas had a bit more tan--and a bit more padding. Not as much as Patton, though, who had what he laughingly self-described as a ‘Dad Bod.’ He also had the shortest, most sensible haircut and a perpetually sunburned nose. Then there was Roman--the tallest, most muscular of the sides, whose skin was bronzed and long hair bleached by constant quests and adventures--who contrasted sharply with the skinny, pallid Anxiety, whose lanky frame was constantly hunched and closed in and who dyed his shaggy hair deep black streaked in purple.
They all resembled him, but they certainly had their own style.
And Logan right now was a much more interesting sight than Thomas’s laptop. His eyes were bright behind his glasses as he read, gaze flicking quickly back and forth over the lines of the book. He muttered another oath, and this time Thomas couldn’t help but giggle.
Logan looked up, his look of immediate annoyance at being interrupted melting into a slight smile as he met Thomas’s gaze. “How’s the editing going?” he asked, raising an eyebrow at the laptop Thomas had pushed aside.
“It’s not,” Thomas admitted, scrunching up his face and flopping back onto the couch. A little dramatically, he had to admit. “I can’t concentrate; I keep getting distracted.”
“By me?” Logan asked, sliding a bookmark into his novel and closing it. “I can leave, if you think that’d…”
“No, I don’t want you to go,” Thomas cut him off, sitting up and scrubbing a hand back through his hair. “Sorry, Logan, I’m just...restless, I guess.”
“Hmm, so it seems,” Logan agreed, examining him now with all the focus he’d before aimed at his book. “Did you want to explore why? Or look for a solution? The first might even lead to the second, if you’re so inclined.”
“I guess,” Thomas shrugged. “I don’t know, I’m feeling antsy. Kind of out of it.”
“Are you not happy with what you filmed?” Logan asked, shifting to lean forward, his elbows on his knees and his fingers steepled in front of him. “Or worried about its reception? Taking your representations of us from mere characters in your vines and show and giving us a larger role on YouTube is something of a risk, I suppose…”
“No, it’s not that,” Thomas said, shaking his head. It was something of a risk, but he wasn’t particularly worried about it...he’d done little enough on YouTube, and if it didn’t work he could drop the idea, no harm. He’d done his best to impersonate his sides and thought it’d come off well...even if he was the only one who would’ve known if it hadn’t. “I just...I dunno. I can’t concentrate tonight.”
“If it’s not the quality of the video or its reception, then it might not be the work that’s bothering you,” Logan said, mostly to himself, Thomas thought. This was the kind of thing Logan loved most, any kind of puzzle or troubleshooting. Like the time when he’d found half an old screenplay Thomas had thought lost forever. Logan had considered the problem for a few moments, before rattling of a solution--“yes, that computer hard drive was corrupted, but you e-mailed the file to Joan through gmail, which means if you sort your sent folders by date and use a few keywords, you should be able to find the attachment”--in one breath. It was how his mind worked.
And right now, Logan was considering Thomas closely--closely enough that Thomas felt himself flushing a little. He shifted his weight again, and rubbed the back of his neck, fingers scratching at short hairs. He sighed, leaning into his own touch and rubbing away some of the tension gathered there.
“Ah ha!”
Thomas jumped, bringing his hand down to meet Logan’s look of triumph. “Ah what?”
“I have a suggestion,” Logan said, leaning back on the couch, a slight smile on his face now. “It may not get to the root cause of your current restlessness, but it should certainly help in curing it.”
“Sounds good,” Thomas agreed, sitting up straighter. “What?”
“An orgasm.”
Thomas’s face flashed red hot, his cheeks flushing. “Logan!”
“Perhaps more than one.”
Thomas hid his head in his hands, groaning softly. Logan didn’t appear to notice.
“I’d be happy to help you achieve them, if you were interested,” he went on, his clipped voice all too calm. “Considering your excess of restless energy, edging might be the most appropriate technique. Prolonging the experience and postponing the completion should work to…”
“Oh my goodness, Logan, please stop,” Thomas finally managed, still hiding behind his hands. “I mean, I appreciate the thought, but...but…”
“But what?” Logan asked, still too evenly for Thomas’s state of mind. “I am merely a part of you, Thomas, it would ethically be no different than your usual genital stimulation via phallengetic motion. Merely more effective...and likely more enjoyable.”
“I...uh...th-thanks for the offer,” Thomas managed, daring a glance up. Logan looked insufferably calm and collected, like he hadn’t just offered to...to have sex. With Thomas. Did his sides even have libidos? Did they have sex with each other? That opened a whole realm of self realization he wasn’t sure he was up for yet. “But, um...I’m not sure…”
“Oh, I wouldn’t want to do anything without your enthusiastic consent, of course,” Logan said, shrugging and again curling up in his former place, once again opening his book. “But the offer stands if you’re interested.”
“I...thank you?” Thomas said, forcing himself to pick up his laptop again. Though how he was supposed to go back to editing when he 1) was still restless and 2) was now fighting off an enormous boner, he really didn’t know.
Thankfully, Logan didn’t stay much longer, excusing himself to go play chess with Roman. Thomas waited until he’d gone, then flopped back on the couch and stared up at the ceiling. “My goodness gracious,” he murmured, then repeated it more fervently when the first time didn’t encompass the full range of his current emotional turmoil.
Because Logan had offered to have sex with him. Or at least...to give him an orgasm, which amounted to the same thing. Logan. A part of his own mind. The part that was supposed to have ideas that made sense. Roman was the one who dealt in impossibilities and fantastical illusions, and yet…
And yet. Thomas flushed, glancing at the now empty corner of the sofa. Okay, so he’d be lying if he said he wasn’t tempted. Maybe that made him hopelessly self-obsessed and conceited. Maybe it was no surprise he was still single, if he was considering...considering…
Considering what amounted to masturbation, right? So he could make parts of himself take physical form and interact with them. So what? That didn’t change that it would just be him, did it?
Thomas groaned again, realizing that if he was trying to rationalize and think through this logically, he was as good as having Logan talk him into it. All right. Then how did he feel about it?
One poor, neglected portion of his anatomy felt pretty damn happy, but he ignored that. Thankfully his libido had yet to take physical form and he could only hope that would continue to be the case. He really didn’t want to deal with that. But otherwise...well.
Logan was attractive. Maybe Thomas was conceited to think so, since they resembled each other, but...he did. Logan was attractive, Thomas trusted him, and he probably had a point. Thomas hadn’t been with anyone else in...well. Longer than he wanted to admit, even to himself. He rarely spent much time on his own pleasure, either, just as much as it took to quickly finish before falling asleep. The thought of taking that time, doing things thoroughly, being touched by someone else...well. That was really appealing. And would probably relieve the restlessness he’d been feeling.
He rolled over again, grabbing his laptop. Logan had said something about “edging” hadn’t he? Thomas could at least look that up…
Twenty minutes later--after an amusing false start when his first Google search yielded only lawn decorations--Thomas couldn’t deny his interest any longer. He closed his laptop and shifted around to relieve the pressure of his insistent erection. “Okay, okay,” he muttered to it. “I’ll ask him.”
So apparently this was a thing. He was going to have sex...with himself.
Which meant he needed to tell Logan. Thomas closed his eyes, concentrating his thoughts for a moment. Logan?
The sense of Logan’s presence became sharper as Thomas reached for him in the mindscape, until Thomas could hear him muttering something about castling and rooks, and the mental image of Logan and Roman seated on either side of an elaborate chess set filled his mind.
They must be in a part the mindscape Roman had designed, Thomas decided, as the image became clearer. Though the room around them was a library, it was incredibly grand, all dark, polished woods and heavy oaken furniture. A fire crackled in a stone fireplace, and Roman was sprawled in a velvet trimmed chair, wearing a scarlet doublet open at the throat, a white linen shirt showing beneath it, and high black boots over leather breeches. One leg was hitched over the arm and he held a crystal goblet negligently in one hand.
Logan, in contrast, was in his usual polo shirt and tie, sitting straight up in his own chair, his attention focused on the board in front of him, an anachronistic note in the Renaissancian scene. He looked up, when Thomas sent out a tendril of shy thought. “Thomas? Do you need me?”
Only when you’re done, Thomas thought to them. No hurry.
“He’ll be vanquished soon enough,” Roman drawled, taking a drink from the goblet that on second glance appeared to be filled not with wine, but Mountain Dew.
“We’ll see about that,” Logan replied crisply.
Thomas grinned and left them to it, pulling his mind away from the image and back to his own living room. Okay. No hurry, then...maybe he could get a bit more of this video cut together before...before Logan was ready.
It was a fruitless hope, but at least trying distracted him a little from the thoughts whirling around in his brain. And he did manage to reblog quite a few things on Tumblr before Logan appeared, a satisfied smirk on his face. “He never learns,” he said, settling himself down on the couch. “So what can I do for you?”
Thomas took a quick moment to make sure Patton was aware of Roman’s loss and on hand to deal with it if necessary, before pushing himself up. “You, um...you made an offer, earlier?”
“I did,” Logan agreed evenly, once again giving Thomas a quick once over, his smirk deepening.
“I, uh...I thought about it,” Thomas said, deciding it wasn’t fair Logan could look so hot smirking like that. He was fairly sure that he himself never looked that good. “And did some Googling. And...um...please?”
Logan’s smirk softened into a gentler smile. “If this is what you want, Thomas, I’ll be happy to. From the research I’ve done, I think it could be fairly effective, and enjoyable. We have the added advantage that I’ll be able to assess your current state of arousal much more clearly than a partner who wasn’t a part of you, and act accordingly.”
Thomas swallowed, his cock twitching hard at Logan’s words. Did that mean Logan could sense that, too? “That’s...yes,” he agreed, nodding hard. “This is what I want. If you’re...I mean, you’re right, it’s just me...helping myself, right?”
“Exactly,” Logan agreed, standing up and offering Thomas his hand. “Shall we move this to the bedroom? I imagine you’ll be more comfortable there.”
Thomas distantly hoped that Anxiety wasn’t aware of exactly why his heart had suddenly started pounding like a jackhammer as he took Logan’s hand and let him pull him up. All the sides might find out about this eventually, but Thomas really didn’t want to think of the rest of them watching while he was with Logan. “Okay,” he agreed, taking a deep breath. Just try to stay calm, and he won’t have to find out…
Thankfully, none of the rest of them appeared as Thomas followed Logan upstairs and into his room. Logan paused to let Thomas go in front of him, and when he turned to look back, Logan was loosening his tie, his head tilted back, a look of anticipation in his eyes.
Thomas swallowed hard, again twitching in his jeans. “Should I...how do you want me?”
Logan finished pulling the tie free, dropping it onto the bedside table. “On the bed,” he replied, before reaching down and tugging off his shirt, leaving him topless, his hair tousled. “And eventually naked, though we can work up to that if you need.”
“No, I’m...I’m good,” Thomas replied, his mouth suddenly dry. Logan was slim and pale, his bones cutting soft planes under his skin, making Thomas’s fingers itch to follow them.
“Glad to hear it,” Logan replied, crossing over to him, incredibly close, his fingers coming up to gently cup Thomas’s jaw. He leaned in and pressed a soft, almost chaste kiss against his lips that nevertheless made Thomas’s knees turn to water. “Let’s get you ready,” Logan murmured, as he pulled back again.
In very little time he managed to undress Thomas, despite the fact that Thomas couldn’t seem to make himself any help at all. He felt awkward and ungainly next to Logan’s cool confidence, but Logan didn’t seem to mind, at least. He just helped free Thomas from the snare his t-shirt had become and popped loose the button fly of his jeans, stepping back to let Thomas step out of them.
He did, leaving them crumpled on the floor, finding himself in only his underwear. Logan still wore his own slacks, and Thomas reached for him, grabbing a belt loop and pulling him in close, sighing when their bare chest pressed together. “Hello,” he murmured, the touch grounding him, reassuring him. This was Logan, this was him...there was nothing to be afraid of here.
“Hello,” Logan replied, his smirk back in place. “I would’ve thought us past a greeting at this point.”
Thomas grinned, before pressing his lips against Logan’s again in a kiss that was significantly less chaste than the last, giving in to his urge to run his hands up Logan’s back. Logan’s skin was cool, smooth, and felt wonderful beneath his fingers. “Sometimes you talk too much,” he said, when he at last pulled away again.
“So you’ve said,” Logan agreed easily, gently pushing Thomas back against the bed. “Lie down.”
Thomas did as he was told, feeling a gentle thrill go through him as Logan took charge so easily. He rested back against his pillows as Logan climbed up and straddled him, settling on his thighs.
“Now,” Logan said, in a tone that told Thomas very clearly he was about to lecture. “Edging, or orgasm control, can be accomplished in several different ways.” Going to lecture about sexual techniques, apparently. And why was that so flipping hot? “But at its core, its purpose is to both increase stamina and the quality of orgasm that can be achieved. While this is a worthwhile goal on its own, it can also be used very successfully as a method to tease a partner, bringing them just to the brink of completion and then denying them release, over and over and over. It’s a common practice in the BDSM community, albeit one that has its benefits even outside power play.”
Logan paused, leaning forward, looming over Thomas, his hair falling down over his forehead as he again fit his lips to Thomas’s, pressing in against him. This time, Thomas whimpered, mouth falling open and Logan took the invitation. The coolness of his lips gave way to the wet heat of his mouth and Thomas arched up, feeling Logan’s chest against his own as their tongues slid against each other.
“It can be achieved,” Logan continued when they broke apart, his usually clipped, precise voice now somewhat husky, “in several ways. I intend to employ the simplest, for now.” His hand slid between them, and closed around Thomas’s erection, startlingly warm even through his underwear.
Thomas groaned, his head falling back as his hips tilted up, pressing into Logan’s touch. “Oh fuck…” he moaned, a rare curse escaping his lips at the sensation. Logan may claim this was no different than masturbating, but his body felt it like the long missed touch of another.
“Perhaps next time, Thomas, if you find this agreeable and want to pursue something further,” Logan replied, his hand sliding slowly up, then back down Thomas’s length. “But for now this is sufficient.”
Thomas’s hips jerked up at the idea, the implication that Logan would eventually want to… He forced his mind away from the thought, concentrating instead on the here and now, as Logan began speaking again.
“While arousal can be measured many ways, for our current purposes I believe a sliding scale of one to ten will suffice,” he went on, his voice somehow still steady, even as he was driving Thomas to distraction. “One being completely unaroused, and ten being the experience of an orgasm. Our goal is to keep you between perhaps four and eight for as long as you can stand, though if possible we want to venture up to nine, right before the point of no return when orgasm is an inevitability. I’d judge you at a perhaps a six right now, yes?”
“I...yeah, I think so,” Thomas managed, though he wondered how Logan expected him to think at all, when his fingers were doing that. They squeezed slowly along his length, up and down again, from just below the head back to the root. Each long, slow stroke had his hips rising to meet it, a swell of frustration going through him when it ended too soon.
“Then we have a way to go,” Logan smirked, twisting his wrist, the rough slide of the fabric between them burning through Thomas and making him groan again. “You are fascinating, Thomas,” Logan murmured in response, the lecturing tone missing from his voice.
“I...what?” Thomas forced his eyes open, to find Logan still poised over him, examining him closely.
“Watching you respond to this stimulus,” and with that Logan twisted his wrist again, pulling another whimpering moan from Thomas’s chest, his hips canting up, “seeing the reactions it produces, distantly feeling your experience...it’s utterly fascinating.” Logan kissed him again, hand increasing its pace as he fit his mouth over Thomas’s.
Thomas thrust his hips upwards, eagerly meeting the quickened, burning slide of Logan’s hand, even as he tried to kiss back. Worries about his own performance and the swell of embarrassment that’d met Logan’s last remarks were forgotten in the growing heat and pressure within him as his breathing sped up, as he felt himself growing closer, closer…
And then Logan stopped, his fingers curved firmly around the base of Thomas’s cock, perfectly still.
“Nooooo…” Thomas whined, hips shuddering upward but finding no increased sensation for it. He opened his eyes--when had they closed?--to find Logan watching him, eyes as bright behind his glasses as any puzzle had ever made them. “Logan, please…”
“Fear not, Thomas, I will allow you to reach completion before I’m through,” Logan replied, voice all too steady for Thomas’s fractured nerves. “But we’re only beginning.” And despite Thomas’s squirming thrusts, his hand stayed traitorously still, withholding the last bit of friction and sensation Thomas needed to fall over the edge. “Breathe deeply.”
Thomas pouted but obeyed, catching his breath, the sharp need fading somewhat as he slowly inhaled and exhaled again. He’d agreed to this, yes, but he hadn’t realized it’d be so immediately frustrating. “How...how many times are you going to…?”
“As many as it takes,” Logan replied infuriatingly. “Continue breathing, and let yourself experience every sensation in your body right now. Feel the arousal receding, calm replacing it...good.”
Thomas felt his cheeks warm at the word of praise, but did as Logan said, concentrating on his breathing, on the sensations running through him. And yeah, okay, this was...really nice. He didn’t usually spend much time in this state, not when his goal most recently had been the finish itself. He felt himself relaxing into the mattress.
“Very good,” Logan murmured, his hand slowly beginning to move again, once more sliding along Thomas’s length. “We’ll aim to take you a bit further this time, a bit closer. Be as fully present as you can; it will enhance the experience. Feel your pulse quicken, your breathing become faster again. Feel your skin flush, your muscles tighten. I can feel your thighs tensing between my legs, Thomas, and see the slight spasms of your abdomen. You’re becoming more aroused in response to my touch, my words, and your body is reacting.”
And yes, fuck yes, it was. Thomas wasn’t sure what was hotter, Logan’s hand moving over him, firm enough to make his breath catch but loose enough to slide over him with each thrust of his hips, or the things that Logan was saying. Somehow, the bare physical facts of arousal had never sounded so incredibly sexy. Thomas was certain he could get off just listening to Logan, right now, if he kept talking, his voice gone softly husky as he spoke. “Logan…”
“You’re climbing higher again,” Logan went on, his pace increasing. “Good, keep concentrating on what you’re feeling, on what’s happening. Your balls drawing up tight, your body preparing for emission.”
Thomas was pretty sure he was going to be embarrassed later at what those simple, technical words did to him, but that didn’t stop him from letting loose a whimpering cry, his hips arching up as Logan stroked, squeezed, took him so close, so close Thomas could almost feel himself falling, so very very close…
And then stopped.
Again.
“Ahhh!” Thomas cried out in frustration, fingers digging into the blankets at his sides, his toes curling and uncurling, his whole body reaching, reaching for resolution. “Please…please, Logan, please…” he babbled, dropping heavily back to the mattress as his sought after orgasm seemed to flow back into his body, a backwards rush of warmth and frustration. “Please, I’m not sure I can make it again, please…”
“You’re doing wonderfully, Thomas,” Logan assured him, kissing his open, panting mouth once again, the fingers of his free hand smoothing over Thomas’s chest, soothingly. “We’ll stop the moment you want, of course, but don’t doubt yourself. You are doing very well, and I know you can manage more than this.”
“I don’t...I’m not…” Thomas swallowed, forcing himself to again bring his breathing under control, to find that calm moment that’d allowed him to relax before. Logan thought he could do this. Logan knew intimately what was happening to him, and been describing it only moments before. “I want to,” he admitted, softly, not able to meet Logan’s eyes. He wanted to do what Logan thought he could, wanted to make him proud. “I’m not sure if I...if I can. But I want to.”
“Then you will,” Logan said simply. He shifted his weight, rising off Thomas long enough to pull his underwear off and away, and to reach into the bedside table for a bottle of lube. Thomas groaned, his legs falling open as he watched Logan flip the top off the small bottle and dribble the contents over his fingers. It’d been a strong enough feeling through the fabric, how was he supposed to keep from coming instantly when that slim, cool hand was wrapped around him with nothing in the way?
Apparently he was about to find out. Logan settled between Thomas’s legs and once again wrapped his hand gently around his cock, sliding his fingers to just below the head, then back down. “Are you ready?”
Thomas let out a long, breathy moan, his stomach spasming, almost pulling him up from the bed at the rush of heat that ran through him in response to Logan’s touch. “I...yeah,” he managed, brokenly, tossing one arm over his face as Logan set to work again.
Thomas half expected him to let him finish that time, the third time, completing the rule of three. And he definitely had expected it the time after that. But when Logan brought him right to the brink, right to the moment that one breath later would be the end, he took him right back down again, every time. Thomas gave up trying to count, to anticipate, and let himself be lost in the sea of sensation, in a growing heavy, glorious warmth that spread all through him.
He lost the last of his embarrassed reserve, lost the hesitation in moving and crying out in response to Logan’s touch, lost everything but the feeling of floating always nearer but not quite at his peak.
But it wasn’t until he’d stopped expecting the end that Logan finally brought him to it. Several times Thomas had felt himself almost, almost crest, almost slide over, but only when he’d given up looking for it, given in to experiencing the sensations running through him instead, only when finishing no longer felt like the goal did Logan’s touch not only not slow, but increase, his strokes now going over the head, gathering the moisture that’d leaked from him and using its slick in combination with the lube. “Now, Thomas. Finish. Now.”
And finish he did. Thomas cried out, the force of his climax hitting him harder than he could ever remember before, a long, wrenching spasm that seemed to begin at his toes and coil upward, upward, until it exploded out of him in a flash of heat and pleasure almost nearing pain in its intensity. He arched, spilling over Logan’s fingers again, and again, his entire body clenched tight in the throes.
It went on and on, until he wasn’t sure he hadn’t passed out or lost touch completely. But at last everything seemed to slide back to reality and he sank into the mattress, his muscles burning and heavy, his body sore and sated. “Oh…”
“Hmm,” he heard Logan murmur, from very far away. “This was perhaps more intense than I intended. Your nervous energy is gone, but I’m not certain you have any left for editing, either.”
Thomas chuckled, softly, opening his eyes to find Logan gazing sheepishly down at him. “S’okay,” he murmured hoarsely. “Think I can forgive you.”
“Good,” Logan said firmly, leaning down to give him a tender kiss. “Lie still, I’ll clean up.”
Thomas was pretty sure he didn’t have much of a choice, but did as Logan said, letting his eyes drift closed. He groaned softly when Logan returned and gently ran a warm washcloth over his tender skin, but managed a smile when Logan apologized.
He stopped him, though, when Logan offered to leave, grabbing his hand and squeezing it. “You can...I’d like you to stay. If you want.”
“I think I’d like that, Thomas, thank you,” Logan agreed. Thomas let himself drift, but not quite fall asleep, until he felt Logan sliding into bed next to him, pulling the blanket up around them both. “You did very well.”
Thomas smiled, rolling over to cuddle up against Logan, smushing his face against Logan’s chest. “That mean I get an ‘A’ for the day?” he murmured sleepily as Logan wrapped an arm around him, his fingers moving lazily over Thomas’s arm.
He felt more than heard Logan’s laugh, right beneath his ear. “I think this qualifies as an A plus at least,” Logan agreed. “And we’ll discuss the ethical implications of sleeping with your professor some other time. Sleep, Thomas. You need rest.”
And once again, Thomas obeyed.
