ONK Chapter 147 Spoilers
Queen behavior. How does she manage to be so good in such a lousy manga đ
I've been following OnK veeeeeery loosely lately but I find it hilarious that Akane hasn't only been keeping an eye on Aqua's moves, she has also been following Kamiki. Since all of that has been off-paneled, I wonder if we'll one day just have Akane reveal that she already figured out that Aqua is Goro's reincarnation lmao
Considering that the movies show Doctor A dying in the same forest where Akane and Ruby find Goro's body, Akane should be able to tell that this is the same doctor Aqua told her about.
Except now she would also know that he died on the same night Aqua was born, which means there was absolutely no way for Aqua to have known him at all, least of all so intimately.
This was the missing piece of the puzzle and it's right there in the movie, so here's to hoping Akane has either already put 2 + 2 together off-panel or that she's on her way to do so.
If Akane finally figuring this out is in the cards, I wouldn't be surprised if we get a chapter that parallels Chapter 51 whenever S2 gets around to adapting these particular scenes đ
Or he could save the parallel for whenever these scenes get adapted, since Chapter 51 will probably get its anime counterpart pretty early into the season.
All in all though this is the second time Akane and Kamiki have had contact with each other, I hope that Aka won't deny us of a proper confrontation eventually đ

5 things your character can't do while speaking
Choke. Just think about it, seriously. Think about what choking is and imagine speaking while itâs happening. That would fuckinâ hurt, man.
Hiss. Look, itâs just not possible, okay? No matter how âevilâ you want your character to seem.
Snarl. Animals snarls. The Beast from Beauty and the Beast snarls. The Hulk snarls. You know who doesnât snarl? PEOPLE WHEN THEYâRE SPEAKING.
Shriek. Come on, 99% of the time, âshriekâ is not the word you want.Letâs face it: if you put an exclamation point at the end of the sentence, your reader gets the picture. Donât bring to mind banshees and screaming toddlers.
Sneer. Iâm not even going to bother explaining this one. âSNEERâ ISNâT EVEN A SOUND.

Alicent is wet and miserable. Otto looks like he hasnât slept in three weeks. Helaena is experiencing inconceivable grief. Aegonâs hair looks fried as hell. Aemond is plotting Daemonâs death. And we finally get to see Sunfyre after what feels like a decade of waiting.
Team Green we are so fucking back.

The French translation of the 10th volume came out earlier this month and French!Aqua is a poet
"I will love you... no matter what!"
"I want no part in a life... that doesn't have you in it"
But even that doesn't do justice to how romantic this is in French đ

Checked ONK out of curiosity and Aka's forced writing strikes again. I can't take these "acted flashbacks" seriously because there's no way Aqua (or anyone writing the script, for that matter) could know all those details, including Kamiki's thoughts and mindset đ

If only there was someone with an actual good grasp on Ai's character. Oh wait -
The manga would be over by now if Aqua was allowed to ask Akane this kind of question lmao

Reading the official French translation of volumes 8 and 9 has made me realize that this is supposed to be Akane repeating what Aqua once said to her:
It's way more obvious in the French translation, because they draw a parallel between both dialogues:
Aqua: Notre relation n'est pas réelle... elle est née pour les besoins d'une émission télé... Our relationship isn't real... it was born for a TV show.
Akane: Notre couple est né pour les besoins des caméras... Our couple was born for the cameras.
The French translation also goes extra hard when it comes to Aqua's monologue about Akane:
Here is how it goes in French: Je dois aussi réfléchir à mon avenir avec Akane... maintenant que je sais que mon pÚre est mort, je n'ai plus besoin de la garder prÚs de moi... Je pourrais exploiter son intelligence sans m'attacher à elle de façon égoïste, seulement... Non... Voilà justement pourquoi... Je ne peux pas rester attaché éternellement à cette fille, une fille jeune et pleine d'avenir.
While the beginning is pretty much identical, here is a literal translation of the rest: I could use her intelligence without selfishly getting attached to her, but... [Aqua thinks about the hug] No... That's precisely why... I can't stay forever attached to this girl. A young girl with a bright future ahead of her.
I bolded the lines that stood out the most to me. I feel like the French translation makes it extra clear that one of the reasons why Aqua wanted to put some distance between them is because he was already attached to Akane, and perfectly aware that if he kept her near, he wouldn't be able to stop himself from getting even more attached to her.
This is another one I really liked in French. Je ne peux pas... t'obliger Ă rester avec moi plus longtemps...
Which would give us: I can't... make you stay with me any longer...

Kana and Ruby were desperate to be seen by Aqua/Goro. Meanwhile, Akane sought to seeâunderstandâthe real Aqua.
Aqua shines the spotlight on Kana to save her from her bad habits. He does the same for Ruby, freeing her from her burden.
The manga puts a lot of emphasis on the way Goro was Ruby's light, on the way Aqua brought out Kana's radiance. We're shown that Sarina wants to marry him, that Kana wanted to be his idol. Despite this, neither is privy to the burden Aqua is carrying.
With Aqua and Akane, the manga paints a different picture: It actually allows Akane to get involved. Aqua saved her life and ever since she has been doing her best to save his heart in turn.
What's more: Goro has been saving people all along, but Akane is the one the manga has actively taking mesures to return the favor.
